0:00:02 > 0:00:04How often have you watched the news and seen disasters...
0:00:04 > 0:00:06The sea rose up 20 feet, flooding the area.
0:00:06 > 0:00:07..and tragedies?
0:00:07 > 0:00:10The bomb exploded at about 3:10pm this afternoon.
0:00:10 > 0:00:12What if you were caught up in the events?

0:00:22 > 0:00:25The support that we had after the fire was so tremendous.
0:00:25 > 0:00:29You just want to do something for the people that helped us.
0:00:29 > 0:00:33Hopefully I'll be able to help him to achieve some of his goals.
0:00:33 > 0:00:37Someone who has no idea that this life-changing gift is coming.
0:00:37 > 0:00:40Oh, my days! Why's there so many people outside?
0:00:40 > 0:00:41Hiya, Paul.
0:00:41 > 0:00:43CHEERING
0:00:43 > 0:00:44Thank you so much.
0:00:44 > 0:00:48We're here today to surprise somebody very special.
0:00:50 > 0:00:52This is Going Back, Giving Back.
0:00:57 > 0:01:00It's Boxing Day 2004.
0:01:00 > 0:01:04A devastating tsunami ravages the Indian Ocean coastline,
0:01:04 > 0:01:06hitting 14 countries.
0:01:06 > 0:01:09Whole towns and villages are destroyed.
0:01:09 > 0:01:13More than 230,000 people lose their lives.
0:01:13 > 0:01:16Among the worst affected is Sri Lanka,
0:01:16 > 0:01:20where one British family was caught up in the middle of the carnage.
0:01:21 > 0:01:23We woke up and we didn't know what had hit us.
0:01:23 > 0:01:25I was screaming, "Paul, get up, get up!"
0:01:25 > 0:01:27Miraculously, two brothers survived.
0:01:27 > 0:01:29Grateful for the help they received,
0:01:29 > 0:01:33these remarkable young men now want to give back to two boys
0:01:33 > 0:01:35with a tragically similar story...
0:01:35 > 0:01:38Ten years ago we were in the same situation and...
0:01:38 > 0:01:39they've seen that, you know,
0:01:39 > 0:01:41hopefully there's light at the end of the tunnel.
0:01:41 > 0:01:43..and change their lives forever.
0:01:43 > 0:01:44Surprise!
0:01:44 > 0:01:47CHEERING
0:01:52 > 0:01:55I'm on my way to meet Rob and Paul Forkan at a cafe.
0:01:55 > 0:01:59The brothers are fashion designers and run a successful clothing brand.
0:01:59 > 0:02:01They live in South London, not too far from Croydon,
0:02:01 > 0:02:03where they were brought up.
0:02:04 > 0:02:08Hiya. Hi, good to see you.
0:02:08 > 0:02:11It's hard to believe, meeting them today, how much the boys have overcome.
0:02:11 > 0:02:1630-year-old Rob and 27-year-old Paul are the middle two of six children.
0:02:17 > 0:02:20We had such a unique upbringing where her parents took us out of school at
0:02:20 > 0:02:24a young age and we went travelling and we were volunteering across India
0:02:24 > 0:02:25and all over the place.
0:02:27 > 0:02:31The Forkan brothers spent four years exploring Southeast Asia with their
0:02:31 > 0:02:32parents and siblings.
0:02:32 > 0:02:34Just before coming home for good,
0:02:34 > 0:02:38the family was to spend Christmas by the beach in Sri Lanka as a final
0:02:38 > 0:02:41goodbye. It was then tragedy struck.
0:02:46 > 0:02:50An undersea earthquake sent enormous waves rolling across the
0:02:50 > 0:02:53- Indian Ocean...- This is just one small stretch of the Sri Lankan
0:02:53 > 0:02:57- coastline.- The sea rose up 20 feet, flooding in minutes.
0:02:57 > 0:02:59Lives and businesses washed away.
0:03:02 > 0:03:06The tsunami claimed more than 35,000 lives in Sri Lanka.
0:03:06 > 0:03:09Against all the odds, Rob, Paul and their younger siblings -
0:03:09 > 0:03:1411-year-old Matty and eight-year-old Rosie - survived the destruction.
0:03:14 > 0:03:18But the fate of their parents, Kevin and Sandra Forkan, was unknown.
0:03:18 > 0:03:21The traumatised children flew back to the UK alone,
0:03:21 > 0:03:24where they were taken in by their older sister, Marie.
0:03:26 > 0:03:31When we came back it was quite a manic time and nobody knew where we were
0:03:31 > 0:03:36going to live, what we were going to do and our sister at the time who was 21, you know,
0:03:36 > 0:03:40took on the responsibility of bringing everyone into her house.
0:03:40 > 0:03:41Yeah, we kind of had a few people,
0:03:41 > 0:03:45family and friends and that, when it happened that kind of all came
0:03:45 > 0:03:50together to help us get through the few years when we were at that age.
0:03:50 > 0:03:52We had a few people that,
0:03:52 > 0:03:56you know, anonymously were kind of supporting us in the background in
0:03:56 > 0:03:58terms of donating money, whether it was to sort out, you know,
0:03:58 > 0:04:01we needed new bunk beds or something like that because suddenly we were
0:04:01 > 0:04:03kind of thrown into my sister's house.
0:04:05 > 0:04:08'The generosity of friends and even strangers is what's spurring Rob
0:04:08 > 0:04:10'and Paul on to give back.
0:04:10 > 0:04:14'Five years ago, the boys established what's now become a popular flip-flop'
0:04:14 > 0:04:16and clothing company.
0:04:16 > 0:04:21Since then, the brothers have dedicated their lives to helping others.
0:04:21 > 0:04:24What's your name? Thank you.
0:04:24 > 0:04:27They've been able to fund and set up homes in Sri Lanka,
0:04:27 > 0:04:28India and now Malawi.
0:04:30 > 0:04:33You've helped so many people already in your young lives and what's
0:04:33 > 0:04:37different about this? You know, what are you looking for in that individual?
0:04:37 > 0:04:42So, I think for us with this it's more a case of actually finding someone
0:04:42 > 0:04:46that is in a similar position to what we were when we returned,
0:04:46 > 0:04:52and I think it's more a case of trying to show somebody that there's light
0:04:52 > 0:04:53at end of the tunnel.
0:04:53 > 0:04:58Listen, in order for you to give back, I think we need to go back first.
0:04:58 > 0:04:59I've got the car outside.
0:04:59 > 0:05:02- Shall we go?- Sounds good. - Come on, let's go.
0:05:07 > 0:05:10So, have you got any idea where we're off to now?
0:05:10 > 0:05:14No idea, so I'm sure we'll be in for an interesting day.
0:05:14 > 0:05:15Yeah.
0:05:15 > 0:05:20We're heading out of London to a place dear to Rob and Paul's hearts.
0:05:20 > 0:05:23It was in the year 2000 when their mum and dad, Kevin and Sandra,
0:05:23 > 0:05:26decided to sell up and leave the UK,
0:05:26 > 0:05:29taking their four youngest children to see the world.
0:05:29 > 0:05:32The two older sisters stayed back in England.
0:05:32 > 0:05:36The family flew to Goa, on the west coast of India.
0:05:36 > 0:05:39This was to become their base for volunteering and travelling.
0:05:40 > 0:05:43Do you think you learned more on your travels than you did at school?
0:05:43 > 0:05:46Definitely. We fell in love when we were out in India,
0:05:46 > 0:05:50in terms of just the culture and how vibrant it was, and just...
0:05:50 > 0:05:53It was an eye-opening kind of experience.
0:05:53 > 0:05:57Our parents wanted to show us kind of how other children could live and
0:05:57 > 0:06:01- how lucky we are. - Doing all the charity work we did as children has made
0:06:01 > 0:06:04us more outgoing and
0:06:04 > 0:06:07given us a good sort of entrepreneurial spirit.
0:06:07 > 0:06:10And then also just an alternative upbringing in terms of...
0:06:10 > 0:06:12You know, whether it was doing art on the beach one day,
0:06:12 > 0:06:15- playing cricket with local kids, and things like that.- Amazing.
0:06:15 > 0:06:18And, yeah, it was very random,
0:06:18 > 0:06:22but something that we don't regret for a minute.
0:06:22 > 0:06:25I have to say that your parents sound really cool.
0:06:25 > 0:06:28They were. We had an incredible time for four, five years,
0:06:28 > 0:06:32where we probably spent more time with our parents than most people,
0:06:32 > 0:06:33- you know...- Would do in their lifetime.
0:06:33 > 0:06:36..would do in their lifetime, because we actually became...
0:06:36 > 0:06:40It was a case of, they were our best friends and
0:06:40 > 0:06:43all of us kids were, you know, a very tight unit.
0:06:43 > 0:06:45Are you thankful for that time, now?
0:06:45 > 0:06:47- With what's happened? - We were thankful then.
0:06:48 > 0:06:52Every year, the Forkan family would come back to the UK to see Rob and Paul's
0:06:52 > 0:06:56older sisters. They'd stay in a caravan they owned on the south coast of England.
0:06:58 > 0:07:00So, you've probably guessed where we're heading.
0:07:00 > 0:07:01Yes.
0:07:02 > 0:07:05Bournemouth. Kind of a spiritual home?
0:07:05 > 0:07:06It is, to be fair.
0:07:06 > 0:07:08This was always a nice space for us, as well,
0:07:08 > 0:07:10because we always used to come back,
0:07:10 > 0:07:13when it was, like, the monsoon or something like that -
0:07:13 > 0:07:16we would head back so that we could catch up with friends and family.
0:07:25 > 0:07:27- Bournemouth by the sea.- There we go.
0:07:27 > 0:07:29It's the worst day, as well, by the sea.
0:07:29 > 0:07:32It couldn't be any colder than this.
0:07:34 > 0:07:36A lot of people say to us, how do we
0:07:36 > 0:07:38still love going down to the sea and the beach...?
0:07:38 > 0:07:41I have to say, that's the first thing that,
0:07:41 > 0:07:45when I knew we were coming down here, and we see this...
0:07:45 > 0:07:47Waves crashing onto a beach.
0:07:47 > 0:07:50Does it not just bring it all back?
0:07:50 > 0:07:53It does, sometimes, but it's one of those, as well, that,
0:07:53 > 0:07:56we spent so many years on the beach.
0:07:56 > 0:07:59For us, just being by the sea is actually like a second home.
0:08:01 > 0:08:05Every time I look at the waves I always go, "Oh, Mum and Dad."
0:08:05 > 0:08:08The Forkans' trip to Sri Lanka at the end of 2004 was meant to be
0:08:08 > 0:08:11their final holiday before heading back to England.
0:08:12 > 0:08:16The family travelled south along the coast before arriving at the tropical
0:08:16 > 0:08:18resort of Weligama.
0:08:19 > 0:08:23It was meant to be the perfect family Christmas holiday.
0:08:23 > 0:08:26The place when we got there was so picturesque,
0:08:26 > 0:08:28and we were stunned by kind of how beautiful it was,
0:08:28 > 0:08:31and obviously we'd been on the coast of India, and then we were like,
0:08:31 > 0:08:34now we are in Sri Lanka, you know, so it was really cool.
0:08:36 > 0:08:38Christmas Day was wonderful.
0:08:38 > 0:08:40A day spent surfing, playing cricket on the beach,
0:08:40 > 0:08:43followed by a festive meal at the resort.
0:08:43 > 0:08:45After a game of chess and Risk,
0:08:45 > 0:08:47Kevin and Sandra took the younger children to bed.
0:08:47 > 0:08:51They turned to Rob and Paul and wished them happy Christmas.
0:08:52 > 0:08:55This was the last time Rob and Paul would ever see their mum and dad.
0:08:57 > 0:08:59At eight o'clock the following morning,
0:08:59 > 0:09:04the picturesque coastline was destroyed in minutes by a devastating tsunami.
0:09:16 > 0:09:19We woke up and we didn't know what had hit us.
0:09:19 > 0:09:23- I woke up first... - He was screaming, "Paul, get up! Get up! There's water in the room!"
0:09:23 > 0:09:24And I just thought he was joking.
0:09:27 > 0:09:30Suddenly, the murky water left the bungalow,
0:09:30 > 0:09:32as though someone had pulled the plug out of a giant bathtub.
0:09:35 > 0:09:37There followed an eerie silence.
0:09:37 > 0:09:40No birdsong, no sounds of lapping waves.
0:09:41 > 0:09:44Then, all hell broke loose.
0:09:51 > 0:09:54We saw people kind of running around, screaming frantically,
0:09:54 > 0:09:56"What's going on?"
0:09:56 > 0:10:04Two minutes later I saw a guy absolutely pelting past our room with his kid, legging it.
0:10:04 > 0:10:06And I was trying to work out what was going on.
0:10:06 > 0:10:09SHOUTING
0:10:09 > 0:10:11The ground was vibrating.
0:10:14 > 0:10:18A split second later, there was a thunderous roar.
0:10:20 > 0:10:23A wall of water slammed into their bungalow.
0:10:28 > 0:10:30The door just got smashed down.
0:10:30 > 0:10:32The windows got smashed in.
0:10:32 > 0:10:34Before we knew it, everything was floating up...
0:10:35 > 0:10:39The toilet, basin, sink and everything got smashed off.
0:10:39 > 0:10:41So then we were in a room of chaos.
0:10:41 > 0:10:43And we knew we had to get out of the room,
0:10:43 > 0:10:47because if we stayed in the room we had no chance.
0:10:47 > 0:10:49When we came outside... It was like a bungalow,
0:10:49 > 0:10:52so the water was then taking off all the roof tiles.
0:10:52 > 0:10:55And the only thing left were the beams, the supports...
0:10:56 > 0:11:00..and Rob was holding on, and as I came out
0:11:00 > 0:11:03- it was literally like a washing machine, just...- And we were trying to climb up the wall,
0:11:03 > 0:11:06but as we were climbing up the wall, the wall was being smashed away.
0:11:06 > 0:11:08So, I slipped and Rob literally grabbed my arm -
0:11:08 > 0:11:12I don't know how he was holding me - and he then pulled me up.
0:11:12 > 0:11:14It's a miracle that you survived it.
0:11:14 > 0:11:16Yeah, I'd say we were pretty lucky.
0:11:19 > 0:11:21Rob and Paul had made a miraculous escape,
0:11:21 > 0:11:24but had no idea what had happened to the rest of their family,
0:11:24 > 0:11:28who had been staying in a different bungalow, closer to the water.
0:11:30 > 0:11:33At the time, we found our younger brother.
0:11:33 > 0:11:35We saw him, and he was in a coconut tree.
0:11:37 > 0:11:40I could see he was cut up, and his head was all bleeding.
0:11:40 > 0:11:45And he was crying out for help. So, then you're kind of panicking, your younger brother's in trouble.
0:11:45 > 0:11:47We couldn't find our sister for a good few hours,
0:11:47 > 0:11:50- and then we got a call... - We found her later in the day.
0:11:50 > 0:11:51The surfers had saved her.
0:11:51 > 0:11:54There was a glass door and that was all smashed apart,
0:11:54 > 0:11:58and she just literally came running through and jumped through the glass,
0:11:58 > 0:12:01jumped over everything and just came running at us.
0:12:01 > 0:12:04Yeah, that was a moment you don't forget.
0:12:04 > 0:12:09You know, cos we'd been looking for our parents.
0:12:09 > 0:12:11We thought that they...you know.
0:12:11 > 0:12:13They were gone. We thought our sister was gone,
0:12:13 > 0:12:16and then suddenly we found our sister, so then we had some hope.
0:12:17 > 0:12:19Reunited with Matty and Rosie,
0:12:19 > 0:12:22Rob and Paul were desperate to find their mum and dad.
0:12:23 > 0:12:27Rob headed into town, where he was struck by the full horror of the tragedy.
0:12:27 > 0:12:33It was like a football field of people, and you are just kind of like, what is going on here?
0:12:33 > 0:12:35And you're just walking up and down looking for a white person,
0:12:35 > 0:12:38you know, in the hope of finding your parents.
0:12:38 > 0:12:39- What? They were all dead?- Yeah.
0:12:43 > 0:12:46Rob didn't find his mum and dad among the bodies.
0:12:46 > 0:12:49He and Paul continued their search amid the destruction.
0:12:51 > 0:12:53We then thought we saw our mum on a bus,
0:12:53 > 0:12:55and we were then chasing this bus, and we...
0:12:55 > 0:12:57Literally ran for, like, ten minutes...
0:12:57 > 0:12:59- Chasing it.- ..to get to this bus.
0:12:59 > 0:13:03- And, like, screaming at it. - Banging on it, on the side.
0:13:03 > 0:13:07We ran into the bus and got on it, and we ran to the back,
0:13:07 > 0:13:10and we thought it was her, and then it wasn't her,
0:13:10 > 0:13:13- and then we were like...- My heart sank.- Oh. I can imagine.
0:13:15 > 0:13:18The Forkan children were more than 5,000 miles from home.
0:13:18 > 0:13:21Matty was severely asthmatic.
0:13:21 > 0:13:23With his medication lost in the sea,
0:13:23 > 0:13:28Rob and Paul made the heartbreaking decision to leave the devastation and get to safety.
0:13:30 > 0:13:32That whole time, as well, though, we were telling...
0:13:34 > 0:13:35To get our brother and sisters home,
0:13:35 > 0:13:41we had to pretend that everything was OK and that Mum and Dad were going to meet us at home.
0:13:41 > 0:13:43With no money, no ID,
0:13:43 > 0:13:46no shoes and only the clothes that they were wearing when the waves
0:13:46 > 0:13:52struck, the four siblings hitchhiked to Sri Lanka's capital Colombo on a 200-mile journey.
0:13:54 > 0:13:59There was a lot of people, locals, that wanted to help us.
0:13:59 > 0:14:01They saw that we were these four young kids,
0:14:01 > 0:14:03we were obviously in a foreign country.
0:14:03 > 0:14:06If they didn't help us, we wouldn't have survived.
0:14:06 > 0:14:10With the support of Sri Lankans and staff at the British Embassy,
0:14:10 > 0:14:12the children boarded a plane home.
0:14:12 > 0:14:16With still no word of their parents, their older sisters took them in.
0:14:19 > 0:14:23I mean, the first three months, I had my head in my pillow.
0:14:23 > 0:14:25We were shell-shocked.
0:14:25 > 0:14:27- We didn't know...- We didn't have it confirmed.
0:14:27 > 0:14:31- They couldn't find their bodies, and stuff, so...- How did you deal with that?- That was horrible.
0:14:31 > 0:14:35- Yeah, that was horrible. Waiting around and...- Every day you're going into school and you're sat there,
0:14:35 > 0:14:38you're in a new school, so you don't really know people,
0:14:38 > 0:14:41and you don't have anything confirmed whatsoever.
0:14:43 > 0:14:46Finally, they got the news they were dreading.
0:14:46 > 0:14:48The bodies of their parents had been found.
0:14:48 > 0:14:51- It was horrible finding out. - Yeah, it was horrible finding out.
0:14:51 > 0:14:55- I kept telling myself stuff that I wanted to tell myself...- Wanted to believe.- ..and wanted to believe.
0:14:55 > 0:14:56So, yeah, that was horrible.
0:15:04 > 0:15:06And coming back here to Bournemouth, where, you know,
0:15:06 > 0:15:09it's obviously a very special place for both of you -
0:15:09 > 0:15:15has that reinforced that feeling that you want to give something back to somebody today, as well?
0:15:15 > 0:15:19Yeah. It is important that people see that even in the darkest kind of
0:15:19 > 0:15:23hour, there can be some light at the end of the tunnel.
0:15:23 > 0:15:26It might not be immediately, it might take time,
0:15:26 > 0:15:28and there'll always be dark days, but...
0:15:29 > 0:15:34..hopefully, from seeing what we've gone on to do,
0:15:34 > 0:15:37and kind of our mentality around it,
0:15:37 > 0:15:40hopefully that might help somebody else with the situation they're
0:15:40 > 0:15:42currently in to kind of push on.
0:15:44 > 0:15:46After returning to the UK,
0:15:46 > 0:15:49the Forkan children adjusted to their new life with their sister,
0:15:49 > 0:15:51but it all became too much for Rob.
0:15:53 > 0:15:57Exhausted and overwhelmed by the responsibility of getting his family
0:15:57 > 0:16:01home, and dealing with the loss of his parents, he needed time alone.
0:16:03 > 0:16:06He escaped to his parents' caravan, close to Bournemouth beach.
0:16:06 > 0:16:10You spent quite a lot of time on your own here, as well, didn't you?
0:16:10 > 0:16:13I did. So, after the tsunami I actually used to work here.
0:16:13 > 0:16:15I used to lifeguard here, funnily, after everything.
0:16:15 > 0:16:21And I used to come down here and spent the summer,
0:16:21 > 0:16:23had a long summer here just before I turned 18,
0:16:23 > 0:16:27and just basically had a bit of space and kind of rebuilding myself,
0:16:27 > 0:16:29so to speak.
0:16:29 > 0:16:35Meanwhile, Paul and younger siblings Matty and Rosie were adopted by their older sister Marie.
0:16:36 > 0:16:38Cos when you came back from Sri Lanka,
0:16:38 > 0:16:40you lived for a while with your sister, is that right?
0:16:40 > 0:16:43Yeah, I lived with my sister in Farnborough,
0:16:43 > 0:16:44at the other end of Hampshire.
0:16:46 > 0:16:49So, I wasn't lucky enough to be able to be a lifeguard -
0:16:49 > 0:16:51I had to go to school and do that, I'm afraid.
0:16:51 > 0:16:53He wanted to come down here and spend the summer, and instead
0:16:53 > 0:16:57- he had to go to school. - I came down at the weekends and stuff. And summer holiday.
0:16:57 > 0:17:02- And up to plenty of mischief here, I bet.- It was good fun. There was loads of good friends from here.
0:17:02 > 0:17:06What was nice about it is they never wanted to find
0:17:06 > 0:17:08out what happened, or question it, or...
0:17:08 > 0:17:10Because what was interesting was, even when we came back,
0:17:10 > 0:17:12a lot of adults around us didn't know what to say,
0:17:12 > 0:17:14didn't know what to do.
0:17:14 > 0:17:18But, actually, just hanging around with other kids your age is actually,
0:17:18 > 0:17:24we found, the best form of, you know, of kind of getting yourself back to normal.
0:17:27 > 0:17:32We're on our way back to London now, where Rob and Paul live and work.
0:17:32 > 0:17:36It's remarkable how far the brothers have come since their tragic loss.
0:17:36 > 0:17:40In 2012, inspired to help underprivileged children,
0:17:40 > 0:17:44Rob and Paul set up a charitable foundation, Orphans For Orphans.
0:17:44 > 0:17:47They also launched their flip-flop and clothing brand to help fund it.
0:17:49 > 0:17:53On the tenth anniversary of the tsunami, the brothers returned to Sri Lanka,
0:17:53 > 0:17:55to where their lives changed forever.
0:17:55 > 0:17:57Here, they opened their first children's home.
0:17:57 > 0:18:02The centre provides education, medical help and food for those in need.
0:18:07 > 0:18:10So, here we are in bustling London. Spitalfields market.
0:18:10 > 0:18:13But what's the significance of this place?
0:18:13 > 0:18:15This was actually, when we started Gandys,
0:18:15 > 0:18:19the first wholesale account we ever got was actually in Spitalfields
0:18:19 > 0:18:26- market, so that's what made us quit our jobs and gave us motivation to kind of go on.- Over there.
0:18:26 > 0:18:30It's just round there. So then we were like, OK, maybe we should just go for it.
0:18:30 > 0:18:34And this is obviously going back four or five years now.
0:18:34 > 0:18:38So, we decided when we opened our first store in London, and the flagship,
0:18:38 > 0:18:40we thought, what better place to do it?
0:18:40 > 0:18:44Where it all started and what gave us the confidence to get going.
0:18:44 > 0:18:46Today, their company is worth millions of pounds.
0:18:46 > 0:18:50The clothes are sold in top high-street shops and are worn by celebrities
0:18:50 > 0:18:56like Sir Richard Branson, actress Michelle Keegan and One Direction's Niall Horan.
0:18:56 > 0:18:59The print designs used to make the clothes and even the branding is all
0:18:59 > 0:19:02inspired by the boys' mum and dad, Sandra and Kevin.
0:19:03 > 0:19:06What do you think Mum and Dad would have made of this?
0:19:06 > 0:19:09- They would have loved it.- Yeah, they would definitely love it.
0:19:09 > 0:19:11Would your dad wear the clothes, do you think?
0:19:11 > 0:19:15- Hopefully not, no! Wouldn't want him in them, I'd be like...- Too cool.
0:19:15 > 0:19:16- Yeah, too cool.- Oh, is that right?
0:19:16 > 0:19:21OK. But, no, I think for them, like my mum...
0:19:21 > 0:19:24They worked in fashion, and so I think the fact that we've been creative
0:19:24 > 0:19:27and we've opened our own stores, I think they'd love it.
0:19:27 > 0:19:28We've been on quite a journey.
0:19:28 > 0:19:31I think I'm allowed to use that word, because we have.
0:19:31 > 0:19:34Has it reinforced in you that desire to help someone?
0:19:34 > 0:19:36- Definitely.- Yeah. I'm looking forward to it.
0:19:36 > 0:19:39Well, listen, it's been a real honour spending time with you,
0:19:39 > 0:19:41and what you are achieving is just phenomenal.
0:19:41 > 0:19:46- I'll catch up with you shortly. - Brilliant.- Awesome.- Cool. - Take care, guys.- Cheers, Aled.
0:19:48 > 0:19:53The foundation of hard work, curiosity and ambition that Sandra and Kevin Forkan
0:19:53 > 0:19:57instilled in their boys has enabled them to face their huge loss,
0:19:57 > 0:20:00but it's also helped them to establish their very successful lives.
0:20:00 > 0:20:02I've got so much admiration for them.
0:20:02 > 0:20:06They have this drive to succeed, but also a wish to give something back.
0:20:06 > 0:20:10Taking them to Bournemouth has cemented that desire to help,
0:20:10 > 0:20:14and we think we've found somebody whose story will really resonate with them.
0:20:18 > 0:20:22Brothers 14-year-old Sam and 17-year-old Jordan Walker live in Aberdeen
0:20:22 > 0:20:26with their grandparents, Lynne and Keith, and uncles, Josh and Daniel.
0:20:26 > 0:20:30- Morning, guys. How are you doing? - Morning, Grandad. How are you doing?
0:20:30 > 0:20:36Last summer, their mum Julie and little brother Lucas were killed in a terrible accident.
0:20:36 > 0:20:40Like Rob and Paul's parents, they died at the hands of Mother Nature,
0:20:40 > 0:20:43when unseasonably high waters swept them out to sea.
0:20:44 > 0:20:48The parallels between what the Walkers and the Forkans have experienced is extraordinary.
0:20:48 > 0:20:52They were even the same age when tragedy struck.
0:20:52 > 0:20:55So we thought they should meet. I really hope they get on.
0:20:57 > 0:20:59So, a little bit nervous about today's experience,
0:20:59 > 0:21:02but super excited to meet young Sam and Jordan.
0:21:02 > 0:21:05I'm looking forward to hearing more about their story, as well.
0:21:05 > 0:21:08Hopefully after we've heard more about their journey,
0:21:08 > 0:21:11we can share with them kind of everything that we have experienced,
0:21:11 > 0:21:13and hopefully that'll help them with their future.
0:21:15 > 0:21:18Sam and Jordan think we're making a programme about grief.
0:21:18 > 0:21:24They have no idea the Forkans are here to see if they can help the two boys.
0:21:24 > 0:21:28- Hello.- You all right, guys? How are you doing? Jordan. Nice to meet you. - Rob. Hi, guys. How's it going?
0:21:28 > 0:21:32- Sorry. Nice to meet you. - How are you?- Cheers.
0:21:32 > 0:21:36We had quite an intense experience at a young age,
0:21:36 > 0:21:40and we're here today hopefully to find out a little bit more about yourselves
0:21:40 > 0:21:44and hopefully that might give you a bit of inspiration for the future.
0:21:47 > 0:21:51Sam and Jordan lost their mum and brother just nine months ago.
0:21:51 > 0:21:54It was the middle of summer. Jordan was at a football match.
0:21:55 > 0:21:59Julie took six-year-old Lucas and Sam to the beach.
0:22:00 > 0:22:04The tide was in, and the water was choppy.
0:22:04 > 0:22:07The boys stood on the ramp, watching, but a wave struck them.
0:22:08 > 0:22:11They were swept into the sea.
0:22:11 > 0:22:13Me and Lucas were stuck in the water.
0:22:13 > 0:22:15I was holding on to Lucas at the time.
0:22:15 > 0:22:19The second one came, it hit us, too, I couldn't hold on to Lucas.
0:22:19 > 0:22:21I don't know where he went.
0:22:21 > 0:22:23I couldn't see him after it.
0:22:23 > 0:22:28And then my mum screamed, "No, my babies!"
0:22:33 > 0:22:35My mum ran down and tried to come in.
0:22:35 > 0:22:37And she got pulled in, too.
0:22:37 > 0:22:41So, me, my mum and Lucas were stuck in the water.
0:22:41 > 0:22:44And I couldn't see Lucas for the life of me.
0:22:46 > 0:22:48Passers-by tried desperately to help the family.
0:22:48 > 0:22:49People threw life buoys.
0:22:51 > 0:22:54Sam and his mum Julie managed to cling onto one,
0:22:54 > 0:22:58but the waves kept coming at them, and Julie was knocked off.
0:22:58 > 0:23:00People started trying to pull me up.
0:23:01 > 0:23:04I've finally seen my mum when I was coming towards the end,
0:23:04 > 0:23:06and my mum was upside down, floating.
0:23:15 > 0:23:19As Sam was rescued, he feared the worst for his mum and Lucas.
0:23:19 > 0:23:25Wrapped in blankets, he was rushed to hospital suffering from extreme hypothermia.
0:23:25 > 0:23:28I was in the ambulance, and everyone told me it was going to be OK,
0:23:28 > 0:23:29my mum and Lucas will be fine.
0:23:29 > 0:23:33But I had already seen what had happened in my own head.
0:23:33 > 0:23:37While Sam was being treated, the family frantically tried to reach Jordan.
0:23:37 > 0:23:39Finally tracking him down, he went straight to the hospital,
0:23:39 > 0:23:41where he met his grandparents.
0:23:41 > 0:23:44I was like, "What's happened? Has somebody got hurt?"
0:23:45 > 0:23:51And then my grandad told me, "Your mum and your little brother Lucas
0:23:51 > 0:23:54"have been in an accident and they've passed away." And...
0:23:58 > 0:23:59HE SIGHS
0:24:04 > 0:24:07It was just the worst thing that I...
0:24:07 > 0:24:09It hit you, you know?
0:24:09 > 0:24:12- Yous must have felt the same when it hit you.- Yeah, yeah.- It was...
0:24:12 > 0:24:13..terrible.
0:24:20 > 0:24:24Having gone through such trauma, Rob and Paul know the foundation
0:24:24 > 0:24:28for recovery is having a good network of people for support.
0:24:28 > 0:24:30So you must have had some strong people around you
0:24:30 > 0:24:33after, you know, that experience, supporting you?
0:24:33 > 0:24:35- Friends and family? - Yeah.- Definitely.
0:24:35 > 0:24:37Who has been helping you?
0:24:37 > 0:24:41My uncles are something else. They are like big brothers. They are so close.
0:24:41 > 0:24:44I just love them. They're ace.
0:24:45 > 0:24:47They take your mind off of things, as well.
0:24:47 > 0:24:52And interact with you a lot, try and encourage you to do stuff,
0:24:52 > 0:24:54like getting on with your life.
0:24:54 > 0:24:56My granny and grandad just took us in.
0:24:56 > 0:24:59Like nothing. They have always loved us,
0:24:59 > 0:25:01but they have to love us a bit more now.
0:25:01 > 0:25:04- Because...- They've got to do your washing?- Yeah. Exactly.
0:25:07 > 0:25:10Sam and Jordan's story is heartbreaking.
0:25:10 > 0:25:13Two young boys lost their mother and their baby brother in a tragic
0:25:13 > 0:25:16accident. Neither was in touch with their father.
0:25:16 > 0:25:20Fortunately, their grandparents Lynne and Keith Dawson didn't
0:25:20 > 0:25:24hesitate to take them in. While Rob and Paul are with the boys,
0:25:24 > 0:25:25'I'm meeting them to find out more.'
0:25:27 > 0:25:29Great to see you. Thanks so much for meeting me.
0:25:29 > 0:25:32Tell me a bit about the boys. What are they like?
0:25:32 > 0:25:35They are lovely. Really lovely boys.
0:25:35 > 0:25:37Very energetic.
0:25:37 > 0:25:39Very sporty.
0:25:39 > 0:25:41Very polite.
0:25:41 > 0:25:43- You must be very proud of them? - Oh, yeah, of course we are, yes.
0:25:43 > 0:25:47Definitely. The strength that I think both the brothers together,
0:25:47 > 0:25:49you know, is really strong, you know.
0:25:49 > 0:25:54But I think coming and staying with us since the tragedy has helped them leaps and bounds, you know?
0:25:54 > 0:25:57It also must have been very, very tough for you because, you know,
0:25:57 > 0:26:00you lost a daughter and a grandson, as well?
0:26:00 > 0:26:02Yeah, I miss her so much.
0:26:08 > 0:26:11In a way, does she live on through the boys?
0:26:13 > 0:26:17Yeah. Every day I think about her because I can't not.
0:26:17 > 0:26:19- No.- I have her boys.
0:26:24 > 0:26:25I have two roles now.
0:26:25 > 0:26:29I'm a grandma, but I'm also their mum. You know?
0:26:33 > 0:26:36Back at the house, the guys are learning just how much they have in
0:26:36 > 0:26:40common. Sam and Jordan are finally able to share their story with people
0:26:40 > 0:26:42who know exactly what they're going through.
0:26:42 > 0:26:45I'm sure you have had it. I played it back in my head a million times
0:26:45 > 0:26:47going, "Could I have done this?"
0:26:47 > 0:26:51"What if I'd done that?" "If only I caught that or did this or did that."
0:26:51 > 0:26:55Yeah, that's exactly the same as me. If I was there. If I thought I was...
0:26:55 > 0:26:58- Maybe I could have helped.- Yeah. - But you can't live like that.
0:26:58 > 0:27:02At least you're here, cos now you've got each other to support each other.
0:27:02 > 0:27:06The biggest issue was definitely in denial if it was real or not.
0:27:06 > 0:27:10- My denial wasn't as bad as his because I was in it.- Not the same.
0:27:10 > 0:27:12It was straight... Yeah, it was real.
0:27:12 > 0:27:14I kept telling myself for six months, nine months,
0:27:14 > 0:27:17a year after that they're not dead, they're coming back.
0:27:17 > 0:27:20Probably the worst thing, and it's still going on,
0:27:20 > 0:27:23is just thinking you want to hear their voice one more time.
0:27:28 > 0:27:35It's one of those that you can hope but you have to try and start dealing with it.
0:27:36 > 0:27:38But it's tough.
0:27:38 > 0:27:41See how nice it is meeting people like you.
0:27:41 > 0:27:44It made my... It's like a dream.
0:27:44 > 0:27:46It's helped me so much.
0:27:46 > 0:27:48It's crazy.
0:27:48 > 0:27:52Rob and Paul are in a unique position to understand how Sam and Jordan are feeling.
0:27:52 > 0:27:55And the boys are really opening up.
0:27:55 > 0:27:59Shortly after the accident, Jordan felt he needed to visit the seafront.
0:27:59 > 0:28:02It was terrible going down there to see it,
0:28:02 > 0:28:06but I just wanted to say a few things to my mum.
0:28:06 > 0:28:08Say I loved her and stuff.
0:28:08 > 0:28:13And I think she heard me because she supported me through everything.
0:28:13 > 0:28:14She's made me the person I am today.
0:28:16 > 0:28:20I just think of the good times cos it's so much better.
0:28:20 > 0:28:23We went back to Sri Lanka ten years later, to where...
0:28:23 > 0:28:26We didn't... We didn't actually go directly where we were.
0:28:26 > 0:28:27That was TEN years later.
0:28:27 > 0:28:31- That was tough, as well. - We literally wanted to come home.
0:28:31 > 0:28:33The first night we were like, let's go home.
0:28:33 > 0:28:36I haven't been near the water.
0:28:36 > 0:28:41I haven't been anywhere near, like, the pathway beside it.
0:28:41 > 0:28:43I'm just staying away from it.
0:28:43 > 0:28:47- Don't think you've got to get back down.- You know when your body feels right...
0:28:47 > 0:28:51Yeah. Eventually, you will be able to just go down there.
0:28:51 > 0:28:54But just don't rush, do it in your own time.
0:28:54 > 0:28:57- You'll know when you're ready. - Mum was just...- She was so loving.
0:28:57 > 0:29:01..loving, determined, put everyone in front of her.
0:29:01 > 0:29:04- She's just like any mum.- Yeah.
0:29:04 > 0:29:06She's just...
0:29:06 > 0:29:08She really did anything for us.
0:29:08 > 0:29:10Like, absolutely anything she could have done.
0:29:10 > 0:29:12- Was she a character?- Yes.
0:29:12 > 0:29:15Yeah, she's her own little character. So was Lucas, as well.
0:29:15 > 0:29:16But like...
0:29:16 > 0:29:19- He was something... - Lucas was something else.
0:29:19 > 0:29:23He had no evil in him but he always had that little evil grin.
0:29:23 > 0:29:25When he's done something...
0:29:25 > 0:29:29- A little cheeky chap?- Yeah, cheeky. - I miss that boy so much.
0:29:29 > 0:29:31He was so funny.
0:29:31 > 0:29:33Oh! His smile was incredible.
0:29:33 > 0:29:35He was so cheeky.
0:29:37 > 0:29:40It's not just the brothers Sam and Jordan who feel the loss of their mum
0:29:40 > 0:29:44and brother every day - Lynne and Keith are also grieving,
0:29:44 > 0:29:47but taking comfort in being able to look after their grandchildren.
0:29:47 > 0:29:51It's very, very busy with them, because we've got so much to do.
0:29:51 > 0:29:56But I enjoy it. It takes my mind off of the hurt.
0:29:56 > 0:29:58But you must see her in them, as well.
0:29:58 > 0:30:02Of course. Especially Samuel, every time I look at him.
0:30:02 > 0:30:05It's nice to have them because...
0:30:05 > 0:30:09I've still got Julie and Lucas because I've got the boys.
0:30:09 > 0:30:13'It's time to let Lynne and Keith in on our secret.
0:30:13 > 0:30:16'Do they think Sam and Jordan would benefit from the Forkans' help?'
0:30:16 > 0:30:20Well, you know the boys think we're making a programme about coping with grief?
0:30:20 > 0:30:25Is not the full picture because we're from a programme called Going Back, Giving Back.
0:30:25 > 0:30:32And there are some brothers, the Forkan brothers, who want to help your boys.
0:30:32 > 0:30:35- Wow.- How do you think they'll feel if we surprise them?
0:30:35 > 0:30:37Oh, my goodness.
0:30:37 > 0:30:40- They'll just be...- They will be well surprised.- Will they?- Yeah.
0:30:40 > 0:30:44- Will they react well?- Yes. - They won't run away?- No.
0:30:44 > 0:30:46No, they're quite confident boys.
0:30:46 > 0:30:48I think that they'll be quite teary.
0:30:48 > 0:30:52Yeah, they will be taken aback, definitely. That's without a doubt.
0:30:52 > 0:30:56Yeah. Well, I think I'm looking forward to surprising them now.
0:30:56 > 0:30:57You'll keep the secret, won't you?
0:30:57 > 0:30:59- Yeah. Definitely.- Don't tell them anything, OK?
0:30:59 > 0:31:01We won't tell them nothing.
0:31:01 > 0:31:03I'll see you shortly.
0:31:03 > 0:31:04- Right.- See you later.- Bye.
0:31:07 > 0:31:12It's been great meeting Lynne and Keith and hearing how much they adore Sam and Jordan.
0:31:12 > 0:31:16I just hope Rob and Paul think they can help the boys.
0:31:16 > 0:31:18What are your ambitions in the future, and your interests?
0:31:18 > 0:31:22I definitely want to get good grades done at school.
0:31:22 > 0:31:24So every time I've got a test I think,
0:31:24 > 0:31:26I need to do this test for Mum and Lucas.
0:31:26 > 0:31:29Get a good score so I might actually do something in the future.
0:31:29 > 0:31:35I want to at least get a decent job and move out of Scotland tae a hotter place.
0:31:35 > 0:31:38- I don't know where. - And what about you, Jordan?
0:31:38 > 0:31:41Well, right now, I want to become a joiner.
0:31:41 > 0:31:44But I hope to be playing football in the future, as well.
0:31:44 > 0:31:50And I would like to move away. To maybe Spain when I'm older.
0:31:50 > 0:31:52Play for Real Madrid?
0:31:52 > 0:31:55- Yeah. Play for Real Madrid. - Wouldn't be bad, would it?
0:31:55 > 0:31:56Be brilliant, wouldn't it?
0:32:06 > 0:32:08So you can still have a future?
0:32:08 > 0:32:10- Yeah, exactly.- Even with everything that you're faced?
0:32:10 > 0:32:16- Really achieve...- You can still go on and hopefully, you know, make something of your life.
0:32:20 > 0:32:24- It was nice to meet you. - Thanks for today.
0:32:24 > 0:32:27- Pleasure.- Pleasure meeting you.
0:32:27 > 0:32:31- Take care. Have a nice flight home. - See you later.- All the best.
0:32:31 > 0:32:33See yous later.
0:32:39 > 0:32:41What a day that's been.
0:32:41 > 0:32:43Incredible young guys.
0:32:43 > 0:32:45Absolute pleasure meeting those two.
0:32:45 > 0:32:48Really enjoyed, one, firstly, their humour.
0:32:48 > 0:32:50You know, just chatting to them.
0:32:50 > 0:32:52Normal young lads, as well.
0:32:52 > 0:32:55I was really emotional, listening to their story.
0:32:55 > 0:32:57And I remember being their age, as well.
0:32:58 > 0:33:01I think they quite liked that they could open up to us.
0:33:01 > 0:33:04No-one else in their family has been through what we've been through.
0:33:04 > 0:33:07Yeah, and just seeing where we are now.
0:33:07 > 0:33:10I think the fact that just playing football with them, having a laugh,
0:33:10 > 0:33:13and they realise that we are two young guys
0:33:13 > 0:33:16who, ten years ago, were in the same situation.
0:33:17 > 0:33:20They've seen that, hopefully, there's light at the end of the tunnel.
0:33:28 > 0:33:31It's been a month since I saw Rob and Paul,
0:33:31 > 0:33:34so I'm on my way to find out what they've decided.
0:33:34 > 0:33:37It was a powerful meeting between the two sets of brothers.
0:33:37 > 0:33:40The grief is still very raw for Jordan and Sam,
0:33:40 > 0:33:43but Rob and Paul will understand that more than anyone.
0:33:43 > 0:33:47Will they be able to think of a gift that can truly change the young boys' lives?
0:33:47 > 0:33:49- Great to see you again, guys. - Yeah.- Good to see you.
0:33:49 > 0:33:52You've met Jordan, you've met Sam.
0:33:52 > 0:33:54- How did it go?- Oh, it was brilliant.
0:33:54 > 0:33:57It was kind of like a reflection of ourselves ten years ago or so.
0:33:57 > 0:34:00Just everything they were saying, how they were acting together.
0:34:00 > 0:34:04The strength they were kind of... How they support each other.
0:34:04 > 0:34:07- You could sense that straightaway? - Yeah.
0:34:07 > 0:34:09They've got closer together as brothers, similar to us.
0:34:09 > 0:34:11God, that must have been so emotional for you guys, then?
0:34:11 > 0:34:14- It was a pretty emotional day yesterday, to be fair.- Yeah.
0:34:14 > 0:34:16There are so many parallels in the story, aren't there?
0:34:16 > 0:34:19- Oh, there is. - It's crazy, like the age.
0:34:19 > 0:34:23Rob was the same age as Jordan, I was the same age as Sam, pretty much.
0:34:23 > 0:34:26- Yeah.- So that's...
0:34:26 > 0:34:29Speaking with them has made us think back to when we were at their age.
0:34:29 > 0:34:34It's quite crazy, there's a lot of things that we kind of just shut off and didn't see.
0:34:34 > 0:34:35That was going on around them.
0:34:35 > 0:34:39They kind of jigged our memory and we're now seeing that sort of side of it.
0:34:39 > 0:34:42And then all their kind of passion, as well.
0:34:42 > 0:34:44Everything that they're into, whether it's travelling,
0:34:44 > 0:34:45and they want to go see the world.
0:34:45 > 0:34:49And it was actually kind of nice just to go back and not...
0:34:49 > 0:34:52In terms of hearing their tragic story,
0:34:52 > 0:34:56but just in terms of everything they are doing now to take the positive
0:34:56 > 0:35:00steps forward. It was nice to actually see that and, again,
0:35:00 > 0:35:02just see that fighting character that they've got.
0:35:02 > 0:35:06I think I know the answer to this already from the little time we've spent together now.
0:35:06 > 0:35:09- But are you going to help them? - Oh, definitely. Forever.
0:35:09 > 0:35:13As much as possible. Wow. God, I didn't expect you to say that.
0:35:13 > 0:35:15- Forever?- Yeah, yeah.
0:35:15 > 0:35:19We've got a million ideas in our head. Even when they get to 18, 19.
0:35:19 > 0:35:22In the short term, they are both super passionate about football,
0:35:22 > 0:35:25and we're going to take them to QPR.
0:35:25 > 0:35:27Both of them want to be professional players.
0:35:27 > 0:35:31We're going to get them into the training session for the last game of the season.
0:35:31 > 0:35:35And then we're taking them to the game, the final game of the season.
0:35:35 > 0:35:40They both have never been to England, so we'll bring them down to London.
0:35:40 > 0:35:43And then we'll take them to our store and kit them out.
0:35:43 > 0:35:48We want to start a trust fund for them in which it will give them the money to go around the world
0:35:48 > 0:35:51- when they hit 18. - Wow. That is amazing.
0:35:51 > 0:35:53That is so amazing.
0:35:53 > 0:35:56- I can't wait to see their faces. - Neither can I, now!
0:35:56 > 0:36:01I know they're coming here - they think - "for tea with family and friends."
0:36:01 > 0:36:05So why don't we surprise them and give them the good news?
0:36:05 > 0:36:08- Sounds good.- Brilliant. Cheers. Let's go.
0:36:12 > 0:36:16Everyone is gathering together to surprise Jordan and Sam.
0:36:16 > 0:36:20The boys think they've just come to the hotel to have tea with their grandparents and uncles.
0:36:20 > 0:36:24To see so many friends and family will be a complete surprise.
0:36:25 > 0:36:29- Have you got the letter? Yes.- Letter is here. - Excellent. Ready to go. Perfect.
0:36:29 > 0:36:31OK. Right, we just need two boys now.
0:36:33 > 0:36:36The brothers believe Rob and Paul have flown back to London.
0:36:36 > 0:36:40They have no idea they are just behind these doors.
0:36:42 > 0:36:44Surprise!
0:36:44 > 0:36:45CHEERING AND APPLAUSE
0:36:47 > 0:36:51Come on in. How are you? Pop yourself there, if you can.
0:36:54 > 0:36:57How are you, mate? Are you all right? Nice to see you.
0:36:57 > 0:37:00Listen, guys. I'm Aled Jones from the BBC.
0:37:00 > 0:37:02- How are you?- Nice to meet you. - Nice to meet you, as well.
0:37:02 > 0:37:06You thought we've been making a programme about grief.
0:37:06 > 0:37:08Well, it's not the full story.
0:37:08 > 0:37:11- Is it, guys? - Not quite the full story.
0:37:11 > 0:37:14Yeah, we've got a little bit of a surprise for you.
0:37:14 > 0:37:16After meeting you guys, we were incredibly inspired.
0:37:16 > 0:37:22And it reminded us back of our days ten years ago when we had our situation.
0:37:22 > 0:37:27So we've got a letter for your gran, Lynne, to read out to you.
0:37:27 > 0:37:29So I'm going to pass that to you, Lynne. Over to you.
0:37:32 > 0:37:33"Sam and Jordan.
0:37:33 > 0:37:36"We were both really moved by your story,
0:37:36 > 0:37:40"as losing a family member is extremely tough,
0:37:40 > 0:37:45"and especially under such heartbreaking circumstances."
0:37:45 > 0:37:48Oh, I can't read it.
0:37:48 > 0:37:50Don't worry. You relax.
0:37:50 > 0:37:53Yeah, Rob. You do it. You've done really well.
0:37:54 > 0:37:56Um, so, yeah.
0:37:56 > 0:37:58"Meeting you two took us back to the place
0:37:58 > 0:38:02"it was like at 15 and 17 when we came back after the tsunami,
0:38:02 > 0:38:04"losing our parents.
0:38:04 > 0:38:08"This is the first time in many years we have rewound to feel what it's like to be in that position.
0:38:08 > 0:38:12"We both stayed up late last night thinking about what we could do for you
0:38:12 > 0:38:16"that may help you - not just in the short-term, but in the long term.
0:38:16 > 0:38:20"So we would love to come back up to Aberdeen to see how you're getting on.
0:38:20 > 0:38:23"But before that, we want to bring you down to London.
0:38:23 > 0:38:26"You both said you haven't been down to England.
0:38:26 > 0:38:32"And we thought it would be great to invite you down to see the famous sights of the city.
0:38:32 > 0:38:34"Big Ben, Buckingham Palace.
0:38:36 > 0:38:39"Come and visit our flagship store.
0:38:39 > 0:38:43"And we will take you to Spitalfields Market,
0:38:43 > 0:38:47"where we will kit you out with a new wardrobe."
0:38:47 > 0:38:49- LYNNE:- Jordan needs a new wardrobe.
0:38:50 > 0:38:53That's what we thought. We thought that.
0:38:54 > 0:38:56"And we aren't quite finished there, though.
0:38:56 > 0:39:01"When we came back, Queens Park Rangers gave us a day out to remember.
0:39:01 > 0:39:05"We've organised for you to join us to go for the last game of the season and, before that big day,
0:39:05 > 0:39:09"they're going to let you go and train with the players.
0:39:09 > 0:39:12"You mentioned you wanted to play with the players,
0:39:12 > 0:39:15"and you both have aspirations to play professionally,
0:39:15 > 0:39:21"so we've arranged for you guys to go and meet some pros and see how it's done."
0:39:23 > 0:39:24APPLAUSE
0:39:27 > 0:39:29You all right, mate? Come here.
0:39:31 > 0:39:33Good on you.
0:39:33 > 0:39:35You haven't heard it all yet.
0:39:35 > 0:39:38"We've now got something for the future, because that's, as we said,
0:39:38 > 0:39:42"the short-term. You both mentioned you wanted to see the world.
0:39:42 > 0:39:44"So we've started you both a trust fund,
0:39:44 > 0:39:48"with the money to go in it and explore the world when you're both ready.
0:39:48 > 0:39:50"Your mum did a great job in bringing you up this far.
0:39:50 > 0:39:53- VOICE BREAKING:- "Now make her and little Lucas even prouder by working
0:39:53 > 0:39:55"hard in life and showing a good attitude.
0:39:55 > 0:39:59"We promise that many good things will happen
0:39:59 > 0:40:02"for you both as you're so young and still have a life ahead of you."
0:40:13 > 0:40:15Wow. How are you guys feeling?
0:40:15 > 0:40:17I think I can tell.
0:40:17 > 0:40:19Oh, I'm so thrilled.
0:40:20 > 0:40:23I knew something was up. You were terrible at delaying.
0:40:25 > 0:40:30So a bit of training with the QPR players?
0:40:30 > 0:40:32It's going to be amazing, though, isn't it?
0:40:32 > 0:40:34Definitely. Oh, my goodness.
0:40:34 > 0:40:37But also the guys were telling me that, you know,
0:40:37 > 0:40:40they are going to be there for you for whenever you need them.
0:40:40 > 0:40:43Because, as I say, they know exactly what you're going through,
0:40:43 > 0:40:47so they will always be there as friends for you, as well.
0:40:47 > 0:40:52- Yeah, forever.- I will definitely be there for you, as well - both of you.
0:40:52 > 0:40:54Wow! Oh!
0:40:54 > 0:40:57Listen, I'll leave you guys to chat and catch up again.
0:40:57 > 0:41:00It's been lovely spending time with you.
0:41:00 > 0:41:02And really nice to meet you, and you, as well.
0:41:04 > 0:41:06Take care. All the best.
0:41:06 > 0:41:08Lovely to see you. Guys, all the best to you, as well.
0:41:08 > 0:41:10See you soon. Thanks.
0:41:17 > 0:41:19Really overwhelmed from the bottom of my heart
0:41:19 > 0:41:21about the boys.
0:41:21 > 0:41:25It's a dream come true for them. They're chuffed to bits.
0:41:25 > 0:41:28Massive lump in my throat. Massive lump in my throat.
0:41:28 > 0:41:32And you know that even through all this massive tragedy has happened,
0:41:32 > 0:41:34it's a massive blow to the two boys,
0:41:34 > 0:41:36and now they've been given another chance.
0:41:36 > 0:41:37They both want to travel the world,
0:41:37 > 0:41:39and it will be the greatest experience for them ever.
0:41:39 > 0:41:42And the football thing is just astonishing.
0:41:43 > 0:41:44They will be so excited.
0:41:44 > 0:41:48You know, I don't think there would be a kid on this planet who would be more happier than them on that day.
0:41:48 > 0:41:50'Wow, that was really emotional.'
0:41:50 > 0:41:54- Incredible.- Yeah.- I've never had a feeling like that. And the whole room, as well.
0:41:54 > 0:42:00It was a great moment, just seeing their faces and their nan and grandad, as well.
0:42:00 > 0:42:03The whole family's reaction was brilliant.
0:42:03 > 0:42:07Hopefully, this will inspire them to keep fighting.
0:42:07 > 0:42:09I now feel like I'm part of their family. Which is great, as well.
0:42:09 > 0:42:13- Grandparents, the whole family around them. Brilliant.- Yeah, they've been...
0:42:13 > 0:42:16Can't wait to come back up to Aberdeen and them coming down to see us in London.
0:42:16 > 0:42:18I was just speechless.
0:42:18 > 0:42:23- It's going to be insane. - My lifelong dream to play football with professionals.
0:42:24 > 0:42:31- It's insane.- For them to come all this way up to make our lives better is just incredible.
0:42:31 > 0:42:34Nothing else is better.
0:42:42 > 0:42:46You know, all four lads in there have had such trauma in their young lives.
0:42:46 > 0:42:51But the Forkan brothers are living proof that out of bad can come good.
0:42:51 > 0:42:55Even though horrendous events that happened in your early life may be
0:42:55 > 0:43:00with you forever, they don't necessarily have to negatively shape the rest of your life.
0:43:00 > 0:43:05Now, Sam and Jordan have found not just mentors in Rob and Paul, but lifelong friends.
