0:00:15 > 0:00:19so the African descendants, many of them former slaves,
0:00:19 > 0:00:22became landowners rather than plantation workers,
0:00:22 > 0:00:26fostering an independent spirit and close connection to the land that
0:00:26 > 0:00:27still flourishes.

0:00:40 > 0:00:45Everybody looks out for each other and it's just a really nice way of living.
0:00:45 > 0:00:49I have been here 23 years and I still think I'm kind of British.
0:00:49 > 0:00:52With an average temperature of 80 degrees,
0:00:52 > 0:00:55British expats have been lured here by the beaches,
0:00:55 > 0:00:58low taxes and relaxed way of life.
0:00:58 > 0:01:02We have a tradition in Anguilla of going to take a sea bath.
0:01:02 > 0:01:05This is the epitome of paradise.
0:01:05 > 0:01:09I wouldn't want to be anywhere else.
0:01:09 > 0:01:12But this delicate island's future is precarious.
0:01:12 > 0:01:15With few natural resources, Anguillans have always had to be
0:01:15 > 0:01:18inventive to make ends meet, competing with larger nearby

0:01:23 > 0:01:27Here, the threat of hurricanes is ever-present and in the eye of these

0:02:22 > 0:02:24You must come to Anguilla. You must come to Anguilla.
0:02:24 > 0:02:27You must. Here is another beautiful selection.
0:02:28 > 0:02:31With a population of only 14,000,
0:02:31 > 0:02:37Anguilla is home to 19 different churches and over 15 denominations.
0:02:38 > 0:02:43But the main parish here is Anglican and it's overseen by the Bishop.
0:02:44 > 0:02:48This is Saint Mary's parish church in the valley in Anguilla.
0:02:51 > 0:02:58Yeah. So the doors and windows, they can be thrown open and the nice
0:02:58 > 0:03:00breezes flow through.
0:03:00 > 0:03:04But also, as we sing the praises, the song goes forth.
0:03:06 > 0:03:08As the leader of the Anglican diocese
0:03:08 > 0:03:11of the north eastern Caribbean and Aruba,
0:03:11 > 0:03:14Bishop Brooks presides over not just Anguilla,
0:03:14 > 0:03:17but also 11 neighbouring islands.
0:03:17 > 0:03:21Consequently, he spends much of his time travelling around his vast

0:03:23 > 0:03:27The sea is very special for Anguillans.
0:03:27 > 0:03:30Anguillans have been seafarers from way back.

0:03:40 > 0:03:43It is home to several hundred Anguillans.
0:03:43 > 0:03:46I do enjoy visiting parishioners.
0:03:46 > 0:03:49We do not want to be so heavily minded that we are not earthly good.
0:03:49 > 0:03:52It's important to keep your feet on the ground.
0:03:54 > 0:03:57God our Father, we bring before you your servant.
0:03:57 > 0:04:01We ask that you stretch forth your healing hands upon her and like as
0:04:01 > 0:04:03you have helped her in times past,
0:04:03 > 0:04:05you will help her now and in the future.
0:04:05 > 0:04:07- Amen.- Amen.
0:04:07 > 0:04:08Good morning, sir.
0:04:08 > 0:04:10- How are you, sir?- Very good, sir.
0:04:10 > 0:04:15He knows everyone and everyone knows him.
0:04:15 > 0:04:17With or without a cross.
0:04:18 > 0:04:20Be good.
0:04:23 > 0:04:27- All right.- A little token before you leave.
0:04:27 > 0:04:29Thank you. Food galore.
0:04:32 > 0:04:34This is my doggie bag.
0:04:34 > 0:04:40If by chance, I get hungry on the ferry, lollipop chicken.
0:04:40 > 0:04:42Jamaican salt fish.
0:04:42 > 0:04:44Don't eat too much otherwise you keep expanding.
0:04:45 > 0:04:48You know, you have to do everything in moderation, including eating.
0:04:51 > 0:04:56Anguilla has few natural resources and the island's economy relies
0:04:56 > 0:04:58heavily on high-end tourism.
0:04:58 > 0:05:02With an average temperature of 80 degrees and crystal clear seas,
0:05:02 > 0:05:07much of Anguilla's glorious coastline plays host to luxury hotels.
0:05:07 > 0:05:10One of the most popular is on the west of the island.
0:05:10 > 0:05:11These are our beachfront villas.
0:05:11 > 0:05:17They are four to five bedrooms each and in season, in high season,
0:05:17 > 0:05:21they can go for over 15 to 17,000 US dollars a night.
0:05:22 > 0:05:27Anna Kennedy relocated to Anguilla from Cornwall over 25 years ago.
0:05:27 > 0:05:32I actually moved to Anguilla in 1989 which kind of freaks people out when
0:05:32 > 0:05:35you say you have been here for 27 years, but hey,
0:05:35 > 0:05:38when you find paradise, you don't leave.
0:05:38 > 0:05:41It's very similar to growing up in Cornwall.
0:05:41 > 0:05:44Everybody's either in farming, fishing, or tourism,
0:05:44 > 0:05:47which is exactly like Anguilla.
0:05:47 > 0:05:50Everybody went to school with each other, everybody looks out for each
0:05:50 > 0:05:53other, and it's just a really nice way of living.
0:05:54 > 0:05:58Anna has worked her way up the horticultural ranks and is now
0:05:58 > 0:06:00director of landscaping at the resort
0:06:00 > 0:06:05managing 24 members of staff and working around the clock to keep the
0:06:05 > 0:06:08lush manicured grounds in immaculate condition.
0:06:08 > 0:06:13We have 35 acres, which is probably the largest...
0:06:14 > 0:06:19..intrinsically landscaped property on the island.
0:06:19 > 0:06:22Basically what you're looking at is anything that is green is mine,
0:06:22 > 0:06:24and I have to look after it and maintain it.
0:06:24 > 0:06:27Unfortunately we do tend to have a lot of challenges just keeping the
0:06:27 > 0:06:31grass green and with successive droughts that we have had,
0:06:31 > 0:06:33it's all a big challenge.
0:06:33 > 0:06:37So I've now got this lovely square yellowed out bit of grass that I'm
0:06:37 > 0:06:39going to have to paint, unfortunately.
0:06:39 > 0:06:42I paint my grass when it goes really bad.
0:06:42 > 0:06:45I've got special grass paint, so you can see that we have our
0:06:45 > 0:06:49trusty little sprayer here and we go around and we just zap the nasty
0:06:49 > 0:06:52looking ones and paint them up and they can look green.
0:06:52 > 0:06:55We have to be careful, because it really stains everything.
0:06:57 > 0:06:59Just got to make it look a little better.
0:06:59 > 0:07:03Unfortunately, on really dead grass, it does not stick as well,
0:07:03 > 0:07:08but where it's just been a little lightly cooked here, it does
0:07:08 > 0:07:10do a lot better.
0:07:10 > 0:07:12You will probably have to come back and get a second coat.
0:07:14 > 0:07:16To meet the demands of her five-star guests,
0:07:16 > 0:07:21Anna spends much of her time replacing dead and dying plants.
0:07:22 > 0:07:26Unfortunately, because Anguilla has such a challenge with growing really
0:07:26 > 0:07:29interesting plants that our guests want to see,
0:07:29 > 0:07:34we have to import a lot of the plants that we use here from places
0:07:34 > 0:07:37like Hawaii or Miami, Florida.
0:07:38 > 0:07:42Anna buys most of her wide array of plants from Gerry Brown,
0:07:42 > 0:07:45owner of the Anguilla garden centre.
0:07:45 > 0:07:47Morning, Bonita.
0:07:47 > 0:07:50- Got good water pressure? - Yeah, pressure good.
0:07:50 > 0:07:53- OK.- Yeah, yeah.- That's good.
0:07:53 > 0:07:56Water is like gold in Anguilla.
0:07:56 > 0:08:00It's scarce. In England, it would just be to turn on the tap
0:08:00 > 0:08:03or press the button, everything comes on.
0:08:03 > 0:08:05A little bit more involved out here.
0:08:05 > 0:08:09Anna's selection of plants for her resort is just a fraction of the
0:08:09 > 0:08:13cargo that Gerry plans to have shipped via container from Miami.
0:08:13 > 0:08:18We're a little nervous every time we ship a container in, because
0:08:18 > 0:08:23we're talking about 22, £23,000 worth of product and that is
0:08:23 > 0:08:26to get it door to door from Florida.
0:08:28 > 0:08:30There's a lot to lose if things go wrong.
0:08:30 > 0:08:33Sometimes we get surprises when the container is opened,
0:08:33 > 0:08:35some plants have not travelled very well.
0:08:35 > 0:08:40It's a little bit nerve-racking, based on previous experiences,
0:08:40 > 0:08:44you never know exactly what you can get. We'll look forward to it.
0:08:48 > 0:08:53Anguilla is famed for its 33 beautiful white sand beaches,
0:08:53 > 0:08:55all of which are publicly owned.
0:08:55 > 0:08:57And like many islanders,
0:08:57 > 0:09:00Bishop Brooks tries to get in an early-morning swim,
0:09:00 > 0:09:01whenever he's on the island.
0:09:03 > 0:09:05The beaches are beautiful.
0:09:05 > 0:09:09And people sort of take it for granted, the turquoise water and the
0:09:09 > 0:09:13beautiful sand and they do make use of it but I don't think our people
0:09:13 > 0:09:15make as much use of it as they ought to.
0:09:15 > 0:09:17It is very therapeutic.
0:09:17 > 0:09:20From time to time, you hear people say,
0:09:20 > 0:09:23"The doctor has recommended that I have a sea bath,"
0:09:23 > 0:09:26because it helps with the rheumatism or the arthritis
0:09:26 > 0:09:28or what ever it is they're going through.
0:09:30 > 0:09:35You have to take moments, for reflection and meditation.
0:09:36 > 0:09:41Everything is so serene, you just enjoy nature,
0:09:41 > 0:09:43far from all the cares.
0:09:44 > 0:09:45It's just wonderful.
0:09:48 > 0:09:51Protecting these beautiful waters and coastline,
0:09:51 > 0:09:54is the responsibility of the National Trust,
0:09:54 > 0:09:58which is charged with conserving Anguilla's spectacular reefs,
0:09:58 > 0:10:02vibrant flora and fauna and exotic wildlife.
0:10:02 > 0:10:05Based at their headquarters in the centre of the island,
0:10:05 > 0:10:09Executive Director Farah Mukhida is one of five full-time staff.
0:10:10 > 0:10:15Most of the UK's biodiversity actually is found in the overseas territories.
0:10:15 > 0:10:17Some of the major areas we look at,
0:10:17 > 0:10:21sea birds and sea turtles, everyone loves turtles.
0:10:21 > 0:10:26I think there is something about them, I don't know.
0:10:26 > 0:10:30Especially the little hatchlings, they're very charismatic.
0:10:30 > 0:10:34And so, I think it's a species that you can kind of latch onto,
0:10:34 > 0:10:38but at the same time, they're also so important for the environment.
0:10:38 > 0:10:41So if you're able to protect the turtle itself,
0:10:41 > 0:10:43it means that so much more is being protected,
0:10:43 > 0:10:47because of the reefs that they use or the seagrass beds that they need
0:10:47 > 0:10:48or the beaches that they need.
0:10:48 > 0:10:51So if you can protect the sea turtle and the habitats that they need,
0:10:51 > 0:10:55you're protecting everything else that uses those areas.
0:10:56 > 0:11:01All three species of turtle living in the seas around Anguilla are endangered.
0:11:01 > 0:11:05So monitoring their movement and numbers is vital to support
0:11:05 > 0:11:09the legislative protection for these iconic creatures.
0:11:10 > 0:11:14And today, for Jan Richardson, it means an early start,
0:11:14 > 0:11:18before the seas get rough and the sun gets too hot.
0:11:18 > 0:11:22I got up this morning and I was like, "Oh, my God, I want to sleep!"
0:11:24 > 0:11:27The team are preparing to set off for Scrub Island,
0:11:27 > 0:11:29one of Anguilla's five offshore quays.
0:11:31 > 0:11:33Right here in the distance, you see the two islands.
0:11:33 > 0:11:37You see the smaller little rock on the side? That is Little Scrub.
0:11:39 > 0:11:43The bigger rock is Big Scrub, or Scrub Island.
0:11:43 > 0:11:45That's where we're heading.
0:11:45 > 0:11:50Scrub is usually at least on that backside, Deadman's Bay, it tends to
0:11:50 > 0:11:55be rough on a good day, so... It gets rough.
0:11:59 > 0:12:03Today, the Queen's representative on the island, the governor,
0:12:03 > 0:12:07Christina Scott, is joining the National Trust team to observe
0:12:07 > 0:12:09their conservation efforts first-hand.
0:12:09 > 0:12:12This is my first time going out with the National Trust today
0:12:12 > 0:12:14and I'm very much looking forward to it.
0:12:14 > 0:12:16I've not seen turtle tagging happening and I'm looking forward to
0:12:16 > 0:12:19learning a lot from the team about the important work they're doing to
0:12:19 > 0:12:21conserve turtles and to protect them.
0:12:21 > 0:12:25Also joining them is deputy director of the fisheries department,
0:12:25 > 0:12:30Stuart Wynne, who first moved to Anguilla from Norfolk over ten years ago.
0:12:30 > 0:12:35We are testing out new GPS data loggers and hopefully we can come
0:12:35 > 0:12:38back the following week and pick up these data loggers that look at the
0:12:38 > 0:12:42movements of the turtles. Fingers crossed.
0:12:42 > 0:12:44Ten minutes later, they arrive.
0:12:48 > 0:12:51But because of its narrow reef barrier,
0:12:51 > 0:12:53the safest way to get ashore
0:12:53 > 0:12:57is to leave the rib and swim the last 50 yards to the beach.
0:12:57 > 0:12:59It was a little bit choppy coming through the path but we had our
0:12:59 > 0:13:03local expert Stewart here who was able to point us in the right direction.
0:13:03 > 0:13:05The waves brought us through the channel.
0:13:05 > 0:13:07- And then they wet me.- Yes.
0:13:07 > 0:13:12Measuring just three square miles, Scrub Island is uninhabited and
0:13:12 > 0:13:15boasts an array of unspoiled wildlife,
0:13:15 > 0:13:18including the hatchlings of green turtles,
0:13:18 > 0:13:21who spend their juvenile years in this shallow lagoon.
0:13:21 > 0:13:26So they're putting out a net across the mouth of the lagoon and the
0:13:26 > 0:13:30turtles come in, in the calm, and spend the night here and stuff
0:13:30 > 0:13:36and so our idea is we put the net across that way and then we drag it
0:13:36 > 0:13:39this way and catch all the turtles,
0:13:39 > 0:13:41put tags on them and then put them back.
0:13:41 > 0:13:44This is an area that they spend a lot of time in,
0:13:44 > 0:13:49whether it's sleeping or foraging, even nesting, what ever it is,
0:13:49 > 0:13:52then we can try to lobby for protection of this area.
0:13:52 > 0:13:56The last time we were here, we caught maybe 15,
0:13:56 > 0:13:57but I haven't seen any heads pop up yet.
0:13:57 > 0:14:00We will be lucky if we get five...
0:14:00 > 0:14:02today.
0:14:02 > 0:14:06I haven't seen any heads pop up yet and the tide is quite low.
0:14:06 > 0:14:08- Yeah.- We will just have to see.
0:14:15 > 0:14:19With Easter just a couple of weeks away, a few miles up the road,
0:14:19 > 0:14:25rehearsals have started for the Palm Sunday play at Saint Mary's Anglican Church.
0:14:25 > 0:14:31Let's begin. So, disciples get ready for when your turn to enter.
0:14:31 > 0:14:34In charge of proceedings is Canon Knight,
0:14:34 > 0:14:38one of two ministers that support the bishop and the parish.
0:14:38 > 0:14:40Rhoda, are you ready now?
0:14:40 > 0:14:43- OK, start.- The scriptures say,
0:14:43 > 0:14:48that King David himself rode into Jerusalem on a mule!
0:14:48 > 0:14:51# Our God reigns
0:14:51 > 0:14:54# Our God reigns
0:14:54 > 0:14:58- # Our God reigns...- #
0:14:58 > 0:15:00He is good. He is good.
0:15:00 > 0:15:05He doesn't have much patience with nonsense and he pushes people on.
0:15:05 > 0:15:09Sarah? You don't wait till they're finished. Start now.
0:15:09 > 0:15:14I can't believe that Jesus is coming to our house today.
0:15:14 > 0:15:19Especially this week. Everyone wants him. But he's coming to us.
0:15:19 > 0:15:22This is a rehearsal, yeah. We're just getting ready, yeah.
0:15:22 > 0:15:23The Easter play.
0:15:26 > 0:15:29You know. That thing that's coming up in two weeks' time.
0:15:34 > 0:15:39# Angel of the Lord all dressed in white
0:15:39 > 0:15:44# Hallelujah, what a happy day
0:15:44 > 0:15:48# Push and shove with all your might
0:15:48 > 0:15:52# Hallelujah, what a happy day... #
0:15:52 > 0:15:54That's it.
0:15:54 > 0:16:00- On a scale of one to five, what's our rate?- What's your rate?
0:16:00 > 0:16:04- Yeah.- Four and a half. - Four and a half.
0:16:04 > 0:16:07- Out of ten?- Five.- How much? - One to five, that's the scale.
0:16:07 > 0:16:11- He said four and a half.- OK, four and a half. OK, one to five.
0:16:11 > 0:16:15OK, OK, OK. Thought it was ten.
0:16:19 > 0:16:23Back on Scrub Island, the National Trust and Fisheries Department,
0:16:23 > 0:16:27joined today by the governor, are finally netting the green turtles
0:16:27 > 0:16:29which they've come to monitor.
0:16:29 > 0:16:31OK, right, let's put you in the shade.
0:16:34 > 0:16:36Oh! You're knocking sand in your friend's eyes.
0:16:36 > 0:16:40Don't do that. It's just a complete privilege to be this close
0:16:40 > 0:16:41to such amazing wildlife.
0:16:41 > 0:16:45You can see how they were so easily hunted to near extinction because
0:16:45 > 0:16:48they're easy to catch and pretty easy to store.
0:16:50 > 0:16:54Mr, you're not going to get away, I'm afraid. So keen.
0:16:54 > 0:17:00So in 1995, the government of Anguilla implemented a sea turtle moratorium.
0:17:00 > 0:17:07And it's basically banned the capturing and harvesting of sea turtles.
0:17:07 > 0:17:11The moratorium is up in 2020 and we need to be able to present some sort
0:17:11 > 0:17:14of data to our government to let them know that, hey,
0:17:14 > 0:17:18either our populations are increasing or decreasing.
0:17:18 > 0:17:22And so all of this work that we're doing here today will help to sort
0:17:22 > 0:17:23of inform that.
0:17:24 > 0:17:28Of the six green turtles the teams have managed to catch,
0:17:28 > 0:17:32only one is large enough to carry the all-important data-logger.
0:17:34 > 0:17:37When it comes to the surface the idea is that it transmits a signal,
0:17:37 > 0:17:40works out where it is, and that information is stored on the tag.
0:17:43 > 0:17:46So only one was tagged with the GPS logger.
0:17:46 > 0:17:48So that's what we'll be looking for next week.
0:17:48 > 0:17:53The challenge nest week will be to actually try to find and recapture it.
0:17:53 > 0:17:54So, that'll be interesting.
0:18:08 > 0:18:11Back on Anguilla, at the main quay,
0:18:11 > 0:18:14the weekly cargo shipment from Florida has arrived.
0:18:16 > 0:18:19Onboard one of today's 40-foot containers,
0:18:19 > 0:18:21is a very special consignment.
0:18:21 > 0:18:24£23,000 worth of plants, trees and flowers.
0:18:26 > 0:18:29For the Anguilla garden centre owner, Gerry, it's a big day.
0:18:31 > 0:18:34We don't know until the doors are open, really,
0:18:34 > 0:18:35on the condition of the plants.
0:18:35 > 0:18:39Past experience tells us we should be OK.
0:18:39 > 0:18:44We may have one or two examples in there of poor shipment.
0:18:44 > 0:18:46Plants that have suffered.
0:18:46 > 0:18:50The soft tissue plants usually are the ones to succumb to the six or
0:18:50 > 0:18:53seven days in a refrigerated environment.
0:18:53 > 0:18:59It's an expensive shipment and we're hoping all is well.
0:18:59 > 0:19:00We'll wait and see.
0:19:01 > 0:19:05And someone else who's eagerly waiting to see the cargo
0:19:05 > 0:19:06is Anna Kennedy.
0:19:06 > 0:19:07Hey, Jerry, mornings.
0:19:07 > 0:19:10As director of landscaping at a local resort,
0:19:10 > 0:19:13she has ordered thousands of pounds worth of plants.
0:19:13 > 0:19:16There's always a worry that when we open up a container that we're not
0:19:16 > 0:19:19going to get what we need. The customs have to be here to open up
0:19:19 > 0:19:23the doors, just to make sure there are plants inside and not anything else.
0:19:23 > 0:19:26You know, some people do get a little advantageous and put other
0:19:26 > 0:19:29things on board that aren't on the manifest.
0:19:30 > 0:19:32On hand to check the cargo,
0:19:32 > 0:19:35is Trenton Roach from the Ministry of Agriculture.
0:19:36 > 0:19:39Hold back the door.
0:19:40 > 0:19:42They look nice and green, Anna.
0:19:42 > 0:19:46Yeah. They're looking good. This is positive. Sorry.
0:19:46 > 0:19:48Those are Bromeliads.
0:19:48 > 0:19:52And, obviously, Mr Roach here has to inspect them for any kind of
0:19:52 > 0:19:54hitchhikers because, obviously, we do get them.
0:19:54 > 0:19:58And just going to inspect them and make sure that he doesn't have
0:19:58 > 0:19:59anything that we're importing.
0:19:59 > 0:20:02A good home for them to hitchhike.
0:20:02 > 0:20:05A good place because this water usually sits in the centre.
0:20:05 > 0:20:10Well, we find snails, we find snakes, we find lizards.
0:20:10 > 0:20:11Not here, so far, so that's good.
0:20:11 > 0:20:15A pretty good shipment so far. So let's keep it that way.
0:20:15 > 0:20:16I hope it stays that way.
0:20:16 > 0:20:18- Saves Jerry some money. - Saves Jerry some money.
0:20:18 > 0:20:22- Absolutely.- So, Jerry and I have known each other for 27 years.
0:20:22 > 0:20:24He actually brought me over to the Caribbean.
0:20:24 > 0:20:27We met in Bristol, for my job interview,
0:20:27 > 0:20:30and I came over and I was his assistant in one of the hotels here.
0:20:30 > 0:20:32We're both born in Bristol.
0:20:32 > 0:20:34No, I was born in Oxford.
0:20:34 > 0:20:35Oh, well, excuse me.
0:20:35 > 0:20:36Home Counties.
0:20:36 > 0:20:40Oh. I was raised pretty much in Cornwall and went to school in
0:20:40 > 0:20:42Devon, which is why I'm a South West mutt.
0:20:42 > 0:20:44You still get the old "Rrr," out of me occasionally.
0:20:47 > 0:20:49As long as Anna's happy, we're happy.
0:20:49 > 0:20:50She's a good customer.
0:20:50 > 0:20:53I'm a very good customer, Jerry Brown, don't you forget that.
0:20:55 > 0:20:58Very good shipment, I think.
0:20:58 > 0:20:59Pretty good plants.
0:20:59 > 0:21:04My concerns early on have not been borne out.
0:21:04 > 0:21:06I'd say we're very happy.
0:21:13 > 0:21:15It's been a week since the National Trust
0:21:15 > 0:21:20and Fisheries Department joined forces to monitor turtles on Scrub Island.
0:21:20 > 0:21:26For Jan and Stuart, it's the day of reckoning for their joint conservation effort.
0:21:26 > 0:21:29Yeah, we're heading back over to Scrub.
0:21:29 > 0:21:32And we're hoping to catch the turtle back that had the GPS logger put on
0:21:32 > 0:21:35- its carapace.- Do you know, the unpredictable factors are...
0:21:36 > 0:21:39Nothing is guaranteed, so...
0:21:39 > 0:21:44We're hoping that it'll still be there, but we'll see when we get there.
0:21:48 > 0:21:50They've got something here.
0:21:50 > 0:21:53They've got something?
0:21:53 > 0:21:57- What is that?- Small one. It's a sea turtle, they got it, they got it.
0:21:58 > 0:22:01A small one. I don't think it's the one with the log on it, though,
0:22:01 > 0:22:04otherwise they would have screamed.
0:22:04 > 0:22:07They would have shouted, "Yeah!"
0:22:07 > 0:22:09- Hey, Jan.- Hey.
0:22:09 > 0:22:12- We've got the one with the GPS logger.- Can I hug you?
0:22:12 > 0:22:16- That's so good.- Yay!- Yay!
0:22:16 > 0:22:19The guy in the orange shorts over there,
0:22:19 > 0:22:23is bringing the one with the logger on it, so that's quite exciting.
0:22:23 > 0:22:27Hopefully it hasn't leaked and there will be some interesting data.
0:22:27 > 0:22:28Yay! Our star.
0:22:30 > 0:22:32- Excellent.- It looks good in there, as well.
0:22:32 > 0:22:35- This is the star of the show. - There's the GPS logger.
0:22:35 > 0:22:38It's not waterlogged or anything like that.
0:22:38 > 0:22:40So we're looking forward to some good data.
0:22:42 > 0:22:43Crossing fingers!
0:22:43 > 0:22:46It said 504.
0:22:46 > 0:22:48You see the times? That's the start time,
0:22:48 > 0:22:53and then we've got the end time of 10:43. Oh, no!
0:22:53 > 0:22:55We set the net last week at nine.
0:22:55 > 0:22:59So that would kind of work-out is about that time, 10:43.
0:22:59 > 0:23:04Sadly for the team, the logger has malfunctioned and hasn't recorded
0:23:04 > 0:23:06the data of the green turtle's movements.
0:23:06 > 0:23:10I'm disappointed. I wanted to see a lovely map of all these data points,
0:23:10 > 0:23:12where the turtle had been for the last two days.
0:23:12 > 0:23:13You can't control them,
0:23:13 > 0:23:15you can't tell them where to go or where not to go.
0:23:17 > 0:23:20We're disappointed. We were hoping for a little bit more.
0:23:20 > 0:23:23I guess more tangible type data.
0:23:23 > 0:23:25But it's still data.
0:23:25 > 0:23:27Well, we recaptured every single one that we caught last week.
0:23:27 > 0:23:31So that really suggests that it's a very closed population.
0:23:31 > 0:23:34But if it does turn out to be a closed population,
0:23:34 > 0:23:37in an ideal world, some protection would be afforded to the area.
0:23:39 > 0:23:42We just attached another logger to this one.
0:23:42 > 0:23:44We figure as the resin's still good on the back of this turtle,
0:23:44 > 0:23:50- we may as well give it another go. - Ready? Go.
0:23:56 > 0:23:59Oh, my God!
0:24:00 > 0:24:01It liked me, clearly.
0:24:06 > 0:24:10Back on the mainland, and with his precious cargo unloaded,
0:24:10 > 0:24:14Jerry's first customer for his new shipment is Trudy Nixon from Wiltshire.
0:24:16 > 0:24:17Hello, Trudy.
0:24:20 > 0:24:22- How are you?- I'm good, Jerry. How are you doing?
0:24:23 > 0:24:28Trudy has ordered a sea grape tree to fill an unsightly gap in her garden.
0:24:28 > 0:24:30We brought some good soil.
0:24:30 > 0:24:33Oh, you brought me some good soil?
0:24:33 > 0:24:35Thank you. I was wondering about that.
0:24:37 > 0:24:40That's basically Anguilla soil, right there.
0:24:41 > 0:24:45Back in England, when you squeeze soil like that,
0:24:45 > 0:24:46it will stay together.
0:24:47 > 0:24:48This just falls apart.
0:24:50 > 0:24:52How much do you think it weighs?
0:24:52 > 0:24:56- About 150lbs.- Yeah?- Yeah.
0:24:56 > 0:25:00Lovely job. I'm very, very pleased with my tree.
0:25:00 > 0:25:06Even though it looked huge on the lorry, it's not really that big.
0:25:06 > 0:25:10But it's definitely the perfect shape and size for my gap.
0:25:10 > 0:25:12So, I'm very happy with my tree.
0:25:12 > 0:25:14Cheers, everybody.
0:25:15 > 0:25:17Another successful tree planted.
0:25:20 > 0:25:21Thanks, guys.
0:25:26 > 0:25:29In the centre of the island, at St Mary's Church in the valley,
0:25:29 > 0:25:33it's the night of the Palm Sunday play and the cast are making
0:25:33 > 0:25:36last-minute preparations for the big performance.
0:25:36 > 0:25:39It's not for me to feel nervous, it's for them.
0:25:39 > 0:25:43I have just one line, so I'm fine.
0:25:48 > 0:25:50You give it all your heart, you know what I'm saying?
0:25:50 > 0:25:55You know you can do it. Just throw your nerves to the wind,
0:25:55 > 0:25:59- you know what I'm saying? - I won't look at you.
0:26:00 > 0:26:03Father, don't forget your maracas at the end.
0:26:03 > 0:26:06I will try to remember.
0:26:06 > 0:26:07No, you will remember.
0:26:09 > 0:26:11On my honour, I promise.
0:26:14 > 0:26:17God will overlook the flaws, the imperfections.
0:26:18 > 0:26:19And so will you!
0:26:21 > 0:26:24All right, we're going to start now.
0:26:24 > 0:26:30MUSIC AND SINGING
0:26:36 > 0:26:38It's not a Broadway production.
0:26:38 > 0:26:43It's just something that we're doing to get into the spirit
0:26:43 > 0:26:45of Passion Week and Easter.
0:26:45 > 0:26:51The scriptures say that the devil himself rode in to Jerusalem on a mule.
0:26:57 > 0:27:01# Hosanna, hosanna, hosanna in the highest... #
0:27:05 > 0:27:09Thank you to all who have made this play,
0:27:09 > 0:27:13The Jerusalem Encounter, a reality.
0:27:13 > 0:27:17Our sincere thanks and appreciation to our director,
0:27:17 > 0:27:21the Reverend Canon Samuel Knight.
0:27:21 > 0:27:24Thank you, thank you.
0:27:28 > 0:27:31I thought it was great. I enjoyed it.
0:27:31 > 0:27:36Like I said, it wasn't Hollywood or Bollywood, it was Anguillawood.
0:27:36 > 0:27:39And they're pleased with themselves, and I'm pleased with them.
0:27:40 > 0:27:42I think it went very well.
0:27:42 > 0:27:44Everybody was alert.
0:27:45 > 0:27:47I'm going to sleep well tonight.
0:27:51 > 0:27:53In the days to come...
0:27:53 > 0:27:56Happy Easter!
0:27:56 > 0:27:58..it's Easter in Anguilla.
0:27:58 > 0:28:02This Easter weekend, you know, so you have a long weekend, people,
0:28:02 > 0:28:05a long weekend of fun.
0:28:05 > 0:28:12The National Trust travel to Prickly Pear Island to give three iguanas a new home.
0:28:15 > 0:28:18I think he's saying, "Thank you for releasing me."
0:28:20 > 0:28:24And for Bishop Brooks, it's a race against time to get the
0:28:24 > 0:28:28church ready for his most important service of the year.
0:28:28 > 0:28:30The parishioners will probably say to me,
0:28:30 > 0:28:34"If the windows and doors aren't in place, we told you so,
0:28:34 > 0:28:37"that it would be too much work to be done within two three days."
0:28:37 > 0:28:39We're going to prove them wrong.
