0:00:04 > 0:00:06I think I was nine when I drew this.

0:00:06 > 0:00:10It's me doing a handstand in the Olympics in London 2012.

0:00:10 > 0:00:14It'll definitely be absolutely out of this world if I could do it.

0:00:18 > 0:00:22Tom Daley is waiting for his dream to come true.

0:00:25 > 0:00:30It's July 2011, and with one year to go to the London Olympics,

0:00:30 > 0:00:34he's doing the inaugural dive into the aquatic pool.

0:00:34 > 0:00:38CHEERING AND APPLAUSE

0:00:38 > 0:00:41Tom is one of the faces of London 2012

0:00:41 > 0:00:45and he has the hopes of a nation on his shoulders.

0:00:48 > 0:00:51But he's lost his world title to an apparently

0:00:51 > 0:00:54invincible Chinese opponent.

0:01:00 > 0:01:03CROWD: ..three, two, one!

0:01:03 > 0:01:06CHEERING AND APPLAUSE

0:01:06 > 0:01:10Will he be able to fulfil his dream and bring home the gold

0:01:10 > 0:01:15after one of the most difficult years of his young life?

0:01:19 > 0:01:22CHEERING AND APPLAUSE

0:01:27 > 0:01:31Tom has always lived in Plymouth, with his family.

0:01:31 > 0:01:34Dad, Rob. Brothers Ben and William.

0:01:34 > 0:01:38- Oh, no!- Mum!

0:01:38 > 0:01:40- No, don't call mum. - Come on, jump on.

0:01:40 > 0:01:42And his Mum, Debbie.

0:01:42 > 0:01:46This is the person that's got a bad back.

0:01:46 > 0:01:48Rob has always been Tom's biggest supporter.

0:01:48 > 0:01:51He's taken him to all his training sessions

0:01:51 > 0:01:54and waved the flag at every competition.

0:01:55 > 0:01:59Look, doesn't that really annoy you? The back of his neck.

0:01:59 > 0:02:02Look at it all roll up. That really annoys me.

0:02:07 > 0:02:10What the hell are you doing?

0:02:10 > 0:02:13- How did he get up there? - Ladder. Obviously.

0:02:16 > 0:02:19But as Tom heads into his toughest year yet,

0:02:19 > 0:02:22preparing for the London Olympics...

0:02:24 > 0:02:28..Rob is facing his own huge personal battle.

0:02:29 > 0:02:33I started what I thought was hallucinating.

0:02:33 > 0:02:35I had a strange sensation come over me,

0:02:35 > 0:02:37like I was filling up with hot water.

0:02:37 > 0:02:41So I had an MRI scan and a subsequent CAT scan

0:02:41 > 0:02:44and he said to me, "Oh, you've got a brain tumour."

0:02:44 > 0:02:46"Oh, have I?" And I'm thinking to myself, well,

0:02:46 > 0:02:52I wasn't expecting that. I said, "How big is it compared to the size of a 2p piece?"

0:02:52 > 0:02:54"Size of a fist," he said.

0:02:56 > 0:03:00And you think to yourself, well, 2012 Olympics.

0:03:00 > 0:03:02Am I going to be going to that?

0:03:03 > 0:03:07Rob needs regular scans to determine his treatment.

0:03:07 > 0:03:11- INTERCOM:- Hello, can I help? - Robert Daly for an MRI scan, please.

0:03:11 > 0:03:14- Pull the door, take a seat in the waiting room, please.- Thank you.

0:03:14 > 0:03:19In January 2011, Rob receives terrible news.

0:03:19 > 0:03:23A second tumour has been detected in his brain.

0:03:23 > 0:03:25I go in the room where the scanner is

0:03:25 > 0:03:27and they ask me what sort of music I'd like to listen to

0:03:27 > 0:03:29while I'm having the scan.

0:03:29 > 0:03:35- Beach Boys. He'd like Beach Boys, wouldn't he, Mum?- Yeah.

0:03:35 > 0:03:38- TECHINCIAN:- About five minutes.

0:03:38 > 0:03:41I think about it on my own and you think to yourself, well,

0:03:41 > 0:03:44am I going to see grandchildren?

0:03:44 > 0:03:46You know, they're all things I get all the time

0:03:46 > 0:03:50because I'd be foolish not to think that.

0:03:50 > 0:03:52I've got to be real about it, haven't I?

0:03:52 > 0:03:55How Tom's dealing with it, what Tom's got to live with, you know.

0:03:55 > 0:03:59I spend a lot of time with him on my own, but because I'm always laughing

0:03:59 > 0:04:02and joking with him, he thinks I'm fine.

0:04:02 > 0:04:05Three, two, one, go.

0:04:10 > 0:04:12It's actually got to look like a tie, though, Rob.

0:04:12 > 0:04:14That does look like a tie, Tom. Stop it now.

0:04:14 > 0:04:16'I don't want to talk to Tom about it

0:04:16 > 0:04:20'because I find that I'm upsetting myself just to sit there and...

0:04:21 > 0:04:24'..just see his face drop and what not.'

0:04:24 > 0:04:27It's all twisted! It's still twisted.

0:04:27 > 0:04:30Twisted around his neck. It's not done properly.

0:04:30 > 0:04:34Rob is determined to be there for Tom as much as he can

0:04:34 > 0:04:36in the lead up to the Olympics.

0:04:40 > 0:04:44As Tom's next major competition is in three weeks' time

0:04:44 > 0:04:46at the World Series in Sheffield,

0:04:46 > 0:04:48he's training twice a day in Plymouth.

0:04:50 > 0:04:53Two and a half hours before and after school.

0:04:55 > 0:04:58The Chinese divers are probably doing, say,

0:04:58 > 0:05:02two or three training sessions a day

0:05:02 > 0:05:04and because they don't go to school,

0:05:04 > 0:05:06they don't do anything other than diving

0:05:06 > 0:05:09so I'd say they're probably doing about seven hours a day.

0:05:09 > 0:05:12And they're probably doing that six days a week,

0:05:12 > 0:05:14so they're doing A LOT of training.

0:05:15 > 0:05:19In order to beat the Chinese, Tom needs to learn a new dive.

0:05:19 > 0:05:22The front four-and-a-half .

0:05:22 > 0:05:24It's the most difficult dive in the world.

0:05:24 > 0:05:26Fun time.

0:05:28 > 0:05:30You're looking at 1.8 seconds for the whole dive.

0:05:30 > 0:05:31The entry's got to be very low down.

0:05:31 > 0:05:35It's not like the easier dives where they've got a bit of float time.

0:05:35 > 0:05:36You've got no float time

0:05:36 > 0:05:39in this dive. It's all about getting out and getting in.

0:05:43 > 0:05:46Front four-and-a-half is definitely a love-hate dive.

0:05:46 > 0:05:49One, two, three, go.

0:05:49 > 0:05:54Get it wrong, it will drop a diver to the bottom of the medal table.

0:05:54 > 0:05:56Get it right, and the diver is unbeatable.

0:06:00 > 0:06:03It's a real crucial dive.

0:06:03 > 0:06:07It's worth the risk and I know I have to risk everything in 2012.

0:06:13 > 0:06:16I'm really happy with that, Tom.

0:06:16 > 0:06:18Sweet.

0:06:18 > 0:06:23Along with training, Tom has major sponsorship commitments,

0:06:23 > 0:06:27and he's been given a car before he's even learnt to drive.

0:06:28 > 0:06:32What we're doing today is we're handing over Tom Daley's

0:06:32 > 0:06:35first new Mini and he is part of our London 2012 performance team

0:06:35 > 0:06:39for BMW and for Mini, and as part of that, he gets a car.

0:06:41 > 0:06:43Did you have a car like this when you were 17?

0:06:43 > 0:06:47No, I had a banger that didn't start on the first day I got it.

0:06:47 > 0:06:50It broke down on the first day.

0:06:50 > 0:06:53Mind you, it did cost about 300 quid, so that's probably why.

0:06:57 > 0:07:00It's actually wrapped up. Oh, that's funny.

0:07:01 > 0:07:03Here we go.

0:07:04 > 0:07:07That's got red insides as well!

0:07:08 > 0:07:12Oh... Right, here we go.

0:07:12 > 0:07:14I tell you what I'll do, I'll try and ring my mum.

0:07:14 > 0:07:16PHONE RINGS

0:07:16 > 0:07:18That's cool.

0:07:19 > 0:07:22Ready? Listen. Listen.

0:07:22 > 0:07:23BEEPS CAR HORN

0:07:23 > 0:07:27- Did you hear that?- 'Is that the horn?'- Yeah.- 'I did, yeah.'

0:07:27 > 0:07:28'Very nice.'

0:07:28 > 0:07:34Tom, in ten years time, will have achieved as a diver.

0:07:34 > 0:07:38I hope that means he has an Olympic gold medal.

0:07:39 > 0:07:43Tom and diving is very important to Tom.

0:07:45 > 0:07:48In terms of him as a brand in the commercial side of things

0:07:48 > 0:07:52and the media side of things, I think he has a unique opportunity

0:07:52 > 0:07:54and we have to create a strategy around that.

0:07:54 > 0:07:56He's in a great position commercially of what can happen

0:07:56 > 0:07:58from here going forward of Tom the brand,

0:07:58 > 0:08:02Tom the breadwinner, he can achieve a hell of a lot.

0:08:04 > 0:08:07Roll camera, please. One more, please.

0:08:07 > 0:08:10With Tom being poster boy for London 2012,

0:08:10 > 0:08:14he's attracting a number of sponsorship deals and commercial opportunities.

0:08:14 > 0:08:19Becoming a brand adds additional pressure to his school

0:08:19 > 0:08:21and training commitments.

0:08:21 > 0:08:24..you can launch into a free canoeing lesson.

0:08:24 > 0:08:27First TV advert, so it's...

0:08:27 > 0:08:30I'm quite excited but quite nervous at the same time to see whether I can get all my lines in

0:08:30 > 0:08:32at the right time, and stuff.

0:08:35 > 0:08:37Take 30.

0:08:37 > 0:08:39- ALL:- Get set, go free!

0:08:39 > 0:08:44We've done 37 takes of the advert now, but apparently that's quite good for a sequence shot.

0:08:44 > 0:08:46Good job, everyone! Good job.

0:08:49 > 0:08:53Do you have to be careful that you don't spoil him as a person?

0:08:54 > 0:08:58The good news on that side of things is...

0:08:58 > 0:09:01his family environment is fantastic.

0:09:01 > 0:09:05Rob and the ideals he created are really strong.

0:09:05 > 0:09:09That that doesn't change, of course. What happens next, who knows,

0:09:09 > 0:09:12if you see what I mean, but there is a strength in Tom.

0:09:17 > 0:09:20Rob is having regular scans to see how the chemotherapy

0:09:20 > 0:09:23is affecting his tumours.

0:09:23 > 0:09:25The results show that they're continuing to grow.

0:09:27 > 0:09:29This is the, um, the scan.

0:09:29 > 0:09:33- So it just lights up. - Is that the tumour?- Yep.

0:09:33 > 0:09:35That's the tumour.

0:09:39 > 0:09:44Cancer's a horrible thing for anyone.

0:09:44 > 0:09:47Anyone that's been through it with a family member or themselves,

0:09:47 > 0:09:49they'll know what I mean,

0:09:49 > 0:09:53but Dad's had cancer for five years now.

0:09:53 > 0:09:58And he got over the first lot and then he had another tumour.

0:09:58 > 0:10:03Got over that one and then got another tumour.

0:10:03 > 0:10:05So he's been unlucky three times

0:10:05 > 0:10:08to get three different types of cancer.

0:10:08 > 0:10:13They don't know whether it's spread from the same one or it's gone from different ones, but it's...

0:10:13 > 0:10:17Yeah... He's definitely been unlucky. He doesn't deserve it at all.

0:10:17 > 0:10:20It's touch and go

0:10:20 > 0:10:24if he can attend Tom's next major championship in Sheffield.

0:10:24 > 0:10:27We've just got to keep our fingers crossed, really,

0:10:27 > 0:10:30because you never know what can happen and you've just got to hope for a miracle.

0:10:45 > 0:10:48Sheffield is the start of Tom's campaign

0:10:48 > 0:10:51to retain his individual world title at ten metres.

0:10:51 > 0:10:54He's also showcasing the new dive,

0:10:54 > 0:10:59the front four-and-a-half with his synchro partner Pete Waterfield.

0:11:01 > 0:11:05It's the ten metres synchro today. And then the individual tomorrow.

0:11:05 > 0:11:07So he's up with Pete Waterfield

0:11:07 > 0:11:09off the back of their bronze medal at the last one.

0:11:11 > 0:11:14So, they're hoping to get on that rostrum again, if possible.

0:11:14 > 0:11:18And of course, it's the big four-and-a-half somersault which everyone's doing

0:11:18 > 0:11:22and Tom was very uncomfortable with it and is now much more comfortable with it.

0:11:22 > 0:11:25He might actually be enjoying it a little bit now.

0:11:30 > 0:11:34The Daley family have driven up from Plymouth to support Tom.

0:11:36 > 0:11:39Until the last minute, they weren't sure if Rob would make it,

0:11:39 > 0:11:42following another round of chemotherapy.

0:11:42 > 0:11:47- It's wonderful.- It is. It must be. - Well, I'm just glad to be here,

0:11:47 > 0:11:48and...

0:11:53 > 0:11:55He's survived my driving!

0:11:56 > 0:11:58Are we all right? Yeah.

0:11:58 > 0:12:00SHE LAUGHS

0:12:01 > 0:12:04- Does it feel like the old days? - Er... Yeah.

0:12:21 > 0:12:23CHEERING

0:12:23 > 0:12:28In 2005, Tom became the youngest diver in Britain to qualify

0:12:28 > 0:12:32for the Commonwealth Games. He was just 11 years old.

0:12:33 > 0:12:36Rob had been by his side for every training session.

0:12:38 > 0:12:40So proud of you.

0:12:40 > 0:12:43Well done, mate.

0:12:43 > 0:12:47He supports me all the way and if I didn't have his support system,

0:12:47 > 0:12:49I wouldn't be here now cos...

0:12:50 > 0:12:53I wouldn't want to carry on without his support.

0:13:10 > 0:13:12How's it been bringing Rob here? How's that been for you?

0:13:12 > 0:13:16I didn't think we'd get him here. I really didn't.

0:13:16 > 0:13:19Two weeks ago, when he was

0:13:19 > 0:13:22going through his chemo, he was very, very drowsy.

0:13:22 > 0:13:25He couldn't eat his food without dropping off to sleep.

0:13:30 > 0:13:33The last three or four days, he's wide awake now.

0:13:33 > 0:13:36Maybe that's because the chemo's gone out of his system.

0:13:36 > 0:13:38But he was dropping off a little bit earlier on.

0:13:55 > 0:13:58- Great for him, though. - Yeah. Of course it is.

0:13:58 > 0:14:02In fact, I keep saying, "You're here.

0:14:02 > 0:14:07"I didn't think you'd get here." But, you know, it's not good, is it?

0:14:07 > 0:14:10We won't go there.

0:14:10 > 0:14:14ANNOUNCER: Representing Great Britain, we have Thomas Daley...

0:14:14 > 0:14:18CHEERING AND APPLAUSE

0:14:18 > 0:14:23Representing China, we have Cao Yuan and Zhang Yanquang.

0:14:23 > 0:14:25CHEERING AND APPLAUSE

0:14:25 > 0:14:30I'd like to think they'll come third or fourth. That would be good.

0:14:30 > 0:14:34They'll definitely come... They'll definitely come fourth or above.

0:14:34 > 0:14:39- And not first? - No, they won't beat the Chinese.

0:14:39 > 0:14:41Cos all they eat is rice.

0:14:42 > 0:14:46CHEERING AND APPLAUSE

0:14:59 > 0:15:02Diving is judged on five points -

0:15:02 > 0:15:06starting position, approach, take off,

0:15:06 > 0:15:09flight and entry into the water.

0:15:09 > 0:15:12The perfect entry is virtually splash free.

0:15:13 > 0:15:19ANNOUNCER: Representing China, Cao Yuan and Zhang Yanquang.

0:15:27 > 0:15:299, 9.5...

0:15:29 > 0:15:32What do you feel when you see the Chinese divers up there?

0:15:32 > 0:15:35Just breathtaking, really.

0:15:35 > 0:15:37Do you know, I look to see

0:15:37 > 0:15:41what they're doing different than our divers.

0:15:43 > 0:15:47To me, it's I've got a big stone to throw in the water,

0:15:47 > 0:15:50you've got a small one, who's going to make the last splash?

0:15:50 > 0:15:53It seems an obvious thing, doesn't it? They are small people.

0:15:56 > 0:15:58TOM: Anything can happen in diving.

0:16:02 > 0:16:06You could get a good start but then slip out, let go of one of your legs.

0:16:06 > 0:16:08There's so many things that can go wrong.

0:16:22 > 0:16:26Sometimes, you can tell from the start whether it's going to be good or not.

0:16:26 > 0:16:29A good dive, you hit the water and you get sucked through it.

0:16:37 > 0:16:39Tom and Pete Waterfield

0:16:39 > 0:16:43need to pull off the front four and a half to beat the Chinese.

0:16:53 > 0:17:00ANNOUNCER: And, finally, representing China, Cao Yuan and Zhang Yanquang.

0:17:04 > 0:17:06APPLAUSE

0:17:06 > 0:17:098, 8, 8.5. Thank you, divers!

0:17:15 > 0:17:19Tom and Pete clinch the gold medal for the ten metre synchro

0:17:19 > 0:17:23after the Chinese perform badly in their final dive.

0:17:34 > 0:17:38Quite a shock. I didn't think that would happen but...

0:17:38 > 0:17:40I'm glad I'm here.

0:17:41 > 0:17:48For him to have done that and beaten the Chinese on his home ground,

0:17:48 > 0:17:52fantastic. Unbelievable. Never ever thought he would do that.

0:17:54 > 0:17:58- You won't cry, though? - I don't know...

0:17:58 > 0:18:00He's proud of you. Course he can cry.

0:18:00 > 0:18:05- He's a right softy, isn't he?- Yeah.

0:18:12 > 0:18:16Ladies and gentlemen, please be upstanding for the national anthem...

0:18:16 > 0:18:19Standing up, yeah?

0:18:19 > 0:18:22If I can bloody get out of here.

0:18:25 > 0:18:33- SHOUTING: - # Gracious Queen Long live our noble Queen

0:18:33 > 0:18:39# God save our Queen. #

0:18:51 > 0:18:55Well, I'm hoping he's going to get into the final.

0:18:56 > 0:19:01- And who's his main rival?- Again, it's going to be the Chinese guys.

0:19:01 > 0:19:03I know...

0:19:05 > 0:19:08..a Chinese PT instructor called Won Jim Shu.

0:19:10 > 0:19:13The ten metre individual event

0:19:13 > 0:19:15is the most prestigious in the competition.

0:19:15 > 0:19:18It attracts legions of Tom's most dedicated fans

0:19:18 > 0:19:20from around the country.

0:19:22 > 0:19:24- What do you like about Tom? - We literally think

0:19:24 > 0:19:27he's so amazing and what he does, especially

0:19:27 > 0:19:29because he's only a year older than us.

0:19:29 > 0:19:32I mean, look at us. We're not diving for England in the Olympics.

0:19:34 > 0:19:38Hello, Mr Daley, or Rob. I don't know. Get well soon.

0:19:38 > 0:19:40All of us who support Tom support you as well.

0:19:40 > 0:19:44Your happiness is amazing, you're constantly buzzing.

0:19:44 > 0:19:47Best wishes and luck from Chloe.

0:19:48 > 0:19:51I can see you're going to be a hit with all the girls now.

0:19:51 > 0:19:55- And their mums.- Watch out, Debbie(!)

0:20:01 > 0:20:04In the individual event, Tom's greatest rival

0:20:04 > 0:20:06is the Chinese diver, Qui Bo.

0:20:09 > 0:20:11CHEERING AND APPLAUSE

0:20:11 > 0:20:14Qui Bo is the favourite for the gold.

0:20:21 > 0:20:24CHEERING AND APPLAUSE

0:20:27 > 0:20:31Brilliant, that was. He's currently fourth now.

0:20:31 > 0:20:34One dive to go.

0:20:40 > 0:20:43CHEERING AND APPLAUSE

0:20:43 > 0:20:46ANNOUNCER: Ladies and gentlemen,

0:20:46 > 0:20:50he's the world number one and he's the winner today, from China, Qui Bo.

0:20:50 > 0:20:54Um, I think Tom's come fourth in this competition.

0:20:54 > 0:20:58Tom has beaten by Qui Bo and the Americans.

0:20:58 > 0:21:03His one poor entry in the back triple somersault cost him a medal.

0:21:05 > 0:21:08Being such a big name, Tom can't go away and hide

0:21:08 > 0:21:10after a disappointing performance.

0:21:10 > 0:21:14His day isn't over when he leaves the pool.

0:21:14 > 0:21:16He has 250,000 followers on Twitter

0:21:16 > 0:21:21and they grab every opportunity to meet him.

0:21:21 > 0:21:25Listen, it's one autograph or photo per person, that's it.

0:21:25 > 0:21:31OK, do you want to move over a bit? Right, autograph or photo?

0:21:31 > 0:21:33- Photo.- OK, you'll have to do it from the front.

0:21:33 > 0:21:35I'll lean over.

0:21:35 > 0:21:39He's got half an hour and then he's got to go.

0:21:44 > 0:21:47Tomorrow, I'm going to be going to Mexico

0:21:47 > 0:21:50for the next leg of the World Series, so we do it all over again next week.

0:21:51 > 0:21:55- When are you home next? - I'm home next on May 10th,

0:21:55 > 0:21:58and then I've got a Spanish oral exam on the 12th,

0:21:58 > 0:21:59so it's completely chaotic.

0:22:05 > 0:22:09Do you feel like he's gone into a different world now?

0:22:09 > 0:22:12Not really, because he still lives at home.

0:22:12 > 0:22:16He ain't started to drive yet, so we haven't lost him completely yet.

0:22:19 > 0:22:23But are you so glad that he could see Tom win last night?

0:22:23 > 0:22:29- Cos that's all you'd wish for, isn't it, that he could be there to see that.- Yeah, yeah...

0:22:36 > 0:22:38You've done it now, haven't you.

0:22:43 > 0:22:48Are you planning to go on any trips yourself to support Tom?

0:22:48 > 0:22:52Not while Robert's in this condition. We won't leave him, no.

0:22:52 > 0:22:55Robert is our priority, not Tom.

0:23:00 > 0:23:02- Michaela, Mikhaila, what is it? - Michaela.

0:23:19 > 0:23:22I got called home from Mexico

0:23:22 > 0:23:25where I was in a training camp.

0:23:25 > 0:23:28I had a phone call from my mum and she just said,

0:23:28 > 0:23:31"Tom, you'll have to come home, Dad's quite ill."

0:23:31 > 0:23:34So, I didn't really know what to expect from that.

0:23:34 > 0:23:37So we came home as quick as we could, myself and Andy, my coach,

0:23:37 > 0:23:41and he came in, and we saw him there, just...

0:23:41 > 0:23:45laying there, asleep. When he wakes up, his eyes kind of roll.

0:23:45 > 0:23:47When he speaks, he's slurred.

0:23:47 > 0:23:50Nothing, kind of, you couldn't get anything out of him

0:23:50 > 0:23:51and it was...it was terrifying me

0:23:51 > 0:23:56cos I could just remember seeing him and thinking all this time

0:23:56 > 0:23:59that my dad's been there, he's been away at every competition with me.

0:23:59 > 0:24:02He goes away everywhere and then to think that of the possibility

0:24:02 > 0:24:05that I wouldn't have a dad, and I wouldn't be able to have

0:24:05 > 0:24:09someone that would go away with me, someone that would go to

0:24:09 > 0:24:13all the different competitions, be there to watch me at training,

0:24:13 > 0:24:19and I can remember thinking, "What if he doesn't get to see me in 2012?"

0:24:19 > 0:24:22And I'm thinking that's all he talks about, he talks about,

0:24:22 > 0:24:25"Have we got our tickets yet? Do we know if we've got our tickets?"

0:24:25 > 0:24:27And you just think...

0:24:27 > 0:24:31everything that we've done, we've done it together,

0:24:31 > 0:24:37and to think that he might not be in 2012 to see it, it's hard.

0:24:46 > 0:24:49Did my maths exam today.

0:24:49 > 0:24:53Yeah, it was better than the one in January.

0:24:53 > 0:24:57- How do you know? - It just felt better anyway.

0:24:59 > 0:25:02When will you find out?

0:25:02 > 0:25:04In the summer, I get my results.

0:25:04 > 0:25:06- Mm.- Mm.

0:25:08 > 0:25:11'I try and sit with him as much as I can.

0:25:13 > 0:25:16'It's important to try and spend time with him'

0:25:16 > 0:25:19because it's the time where he feels the most lonely, he feels the most...

0:25:19 > 0:25:23where he can't do anything, and I think it's really important that we spend

0:25:23 > 0:25:27as much time as possible just even if I'm there holding his hand or something like that,

0:25:27 > 0:25:28we just need to be with him.

0:26:16 > 0:26:19Do you feel dazed and shocked still and tired,

0:26:19 > 0:26:21or have you not felt any of that?

0:26:21 > 0:26:28I don't really know how I feel. I kind of... It's weird. I'm...

0:26:28 > 0:26:32I don't feel tired, or sometimes I do, just like any other day,

0:26:32 > 0:26:35but I don't feel like...

0:26:35 > 0:26:37I don't know how I should feel.

0:26:37 > 0:26:41Loads of people...some people sit in the corner and are crying.

0:26:41 > 0:26:46I'm kind of feeling bad for carrying on, but I think that's what Dad would have wanted.

0:26:46 > 0:26:48Dad would have wanted me to carry on as normal

0:26:48 > 0:26:51and even when he was downstairs for that whole month in bed,

0:26:51 > 0:26:55he was always talking about...he always said to me, "Why aren't you at training?"

0:27:11 > 0:27:14We had some lovely cards from people.

0:27:14 > 0:27:18We had messages from people like Seb Coe.

0:27:18 > 0:27:22His thoughts are with us and that he that he was sorry to hear about the loss.

0:27:22 > 0:27:27We've had cards from people we didn't know,

0:27:27 > 0:27:30people who have just followed Tom in his career.

0:27:30 > 0:27:33- Have you read every one?- Yeah.

0:27:33 > 0:27:35The amount of people that turned up to the funeral as well.

0:27:35 > 0:27:43- Attendance cards. They said each one holds about...- 100?- 100.

0:27:43 > 0:27:46- So, nearly 400 people came?- Yeah.

0:27:47 > 0:27:50So, there's loads of people there.

0:27:50 > 0:27:55The one good thing about it was that Dad managed to actually write out

0:27:55 > 0:27:59William's birthday card because he died three days before his birthday.

0:27:59 > 0:28:02When he first...when he got quite poorly,

0:28:02 > 0:28:06when I could see that he wasn't going to be able to do things

0:28:06 > 0:28:10for much longer, I did get him to write their cards out.

0:28:10 > 0:28:14- He put a little comment in each of them, didn't he?- Mm.

0:28:14 > 0:28:17All my brothers' birthdays are in...in May.

0:28:17 > 0:28:20It's 12th, 21st and 30th, and mine's in the middle.

0:28:20 > 0:28:24And Dad managed to write out Ben's birthday card.

0:28:24 > 0:28:27Um...

0:28:27 > 0:28:30It says, "Thanks for all your help, Ben. Love, Dad."

0:28:32 > 0:28:36And this one was my one, where it said, "Good luck at driving."

0:28:38 > 0:28:41Kiss, kiss, and then he's put "Dad." Then you've got William's,

0:28:41 > 0:28:43whose is the last birthday,

0:28:43 > 0:28:47well, he didn't quite make it until William's birthday,

0:28:47 > 0:28:52but he's put "Willsey". He put like a long exclamated...

0:28:52 > 0:28:55- That's his nickname for him. - Willsey, yep.

0:28:55 > 0:29:00- Don't know, keep it all together? - Yeah, put it all together.

0:29:00 > 0:29:02Should be there.

0:29:03 > 0:29:06When people come up to you in the streets and they're like,

0:29:06 > 0:29:08they say, "Oh, hi, Tom.

0:29:08 > 0:29:13"I'm really sorry about your dad," I don't mind it and I don't mind...

0:29:13 > 0:29:16But then it just puts an awkward spin on the situation.

0:29:16 > 0:29:19I'm like, "Yeah, thank you." But what do you say?

0:29:19 > 0:29:23Do you say thank you? Do you say it's OK? I don't know how to reply to it.

0:29:23 > 0:29:26And I'm like, "Yeah, yeah. It's OK."

0:29:26 > 0:29:31Like, but then you don't want to say it's OK because it's not necessarily OK.

0:29:31 > 0:29:32You just don't know what to say.

0:29:32 > 0:29:38And I don't like it if my friends or family, if they don't want,

0:29:38 > 0:29:40they kind of sometimes avoid talking about certain things

0:29:40 > 0:29:42or they avoid saying certain things

0:29:42 > 0:29:46because they think they might upset me, but I don't want people to be awkward like that

0:29:46 > 0:29:49because I would speak openly about my dad all day, kind of thing,

0:29:49 > 0:29:52and I wouldn't get upset because I know that

0:29:52 > 0:29:55whenever anyone thinks about Rob Daley, they would just smile.

0:29:55 > 0:29:57And...

0:29:57 > 0:30:01one thing that's horrible was when it was my birthday,

0:30:01 > 0:30:04and it was my first driving lesson.

0:30:04 > 0:30:06Then Dad got really upset and angry that he couldn't come out

0:30:06 > 0:30:11and watch me do my first driving lesson. That was hard.

0:30:11 > 0:30:14Left a bit more. Whoa...

0:30:14 > 0:30:17It's fine, I couldn't get over more otherwise I'd have hit that car.

0:30:17 > 0:30:20Ah no, I'm going to be doing clutch control up here, if there's traffic.

0:30:20 > 0:30:23Clutch control, yeah.

0:30:23 > 0:30:25Check me out.

0:30:25 > 0:30:29We always tend to have arguments about indication at roundabouts.

0:30:29 > 0:30:32Go, it's give way to the right, you knob!

0:30:32 > 0:30:34Tom!

0:30:34 > 0:30:37I'm really close to my mum. I was close to her before,

0:30:37 > 0:30:41but I guess, when something like this happens, it makes you even closer.

0:30:41 > 0:30:45We're doing more things together that we wouldn't normally do.

0:30:45 > 0:30:48She's driving with me, where normally it would be Dad doing that stuff.

0:30:48 > 0:30:52She's been so good with everything.

0:31:01 > 0:31:05The calendar for international competitions for Tom is unrelenting.

0:31:05 > 0:31:08He only missed one training session after his dad died.

0:31:10 > 0:31:13Where's he going on Friday?

0:31:13 > 0:31:17To Shanghai, and off we go with the World Championships.

0:31:17 > 0:31:18What do you want out of that?

0:31:18 > 0:31:20A steady performance.

0:31:20 > 0:31:23We've been working on this new list, obviously.

0:31:23 > 0:31:26I'm hoping we can go to the World Championships, do a confident list.

0:31:26 > 0:31:29He'll come away from that ready to begin the build-up

0:31:29 > 0:31:32in to next year, which is 2012. It's come round pretty quick.

0:31:36 > 0:31:40Did Tom appear, in any way,

0:31:40 > 0:31:43did his performance change after Rob died?

0:31:43 > 0:31:47Not really, no. Obviously, it's changed our training process.

0:31:47 > 0:31:49We haven't done exactly what I would have done,

0:31:49 > 0:31:53had there been no problem within the family scenario.

0:31:53 > 0:31:56But because that's changed,

0:31:56 > 0:32:00it means we haven't what I'd call a perfect build-up into this event.

0:32:00 > 0:32:03His dad would have been mortified if he'd felt that

0:32:03 > 0:32:07everybody had stopped because of the situation he was in.

0:32:07 > 0:32:10So, he came back, and we've supported that,

0:32:10 > 0:32:12as has the rest of diving.

0:32:12 > 0:32:14So, I'm really pleased with that.

0:32:14 > 0:32:18As always, Tom has compartmentalised his diving side from school life.

0:32:18 > 0:32:21School is really busy as well. He's doing A-levels early.

0:32:21 > 0:32:24He's trying to get that all finished by January.

0:32:27 > 0:32:29So where to now?

0:32:29 > 0:32:33Now, we are going to school. Just got changed as quick as I could.

0:32:33 > 0:32:37Shoved everything in my bag, got all the bags I could possibly carry.

0:32:37 > 0:32:39Got my diving stuff in here,

0:32:39 > 0:32:43my diving bag, my school bag, got everything in it.

0:32:43 > 0:32:46Hectic day, Tuesdays, but, yeah.

0:32:46 > 0:32:52Now I'm going in for a Spanish lesson to start my second year of A-levels.

0:32:52 > 0:32:54THEY SPEAK SPANISH

0:33:14 > 0:33:18Straight back from school, Tom is packing for Shanghai.

0:33:20 > 0:33:24And then shut the lid.

0:33:24 > 0:33:28Debbie, what's it like, packing with Tom to go away for a month?

0:33:28 > 0:33:31Um... He's quite erratic,

0:33:31 > 0:33:33because he'll go from one thing to the next

0:33:33 > 0:33:36without finishing the original thing he's getting ready for.

0:33:36 > 0:33:38It's hard to keep him focused.

0:33:38 > 0:33:41So... Surprisingly!

0:33:41 > 0:33:45So, you've just got say, "Tom, we're doing your training kit first,

0:33:45 > 0:33:48"doing your downtime clothes after."

0:33:48 > 0:33:50Is that everything in there? I don't believe it.

0:33:50 > 0:33:52- School books.- Oh.

0:33:52 > 0:33:55When do you do your homework?

0:33:55 > 0:33:58All the time! Whenever I can, really.

0:33:58 > 0:34:00It's, like, full-on, non-stop.

0:34:00 > 0:34:02It's literally just...

0:34:02 > 0:34:03Pages and pages.

0:34:03 > 0:34:05Pages and pages.

0:34:05 > 0:34:07Are you defending your title?

0:34:07 > 0:34:09Yeah, this is my defending title.

0:34:09 > 0:34:11To be honest, I think it's about going out there,

0:34:11 > 0:34:14trying to do my individual dives as well as possible.

0:34:14 > 0:34:16But always the competitive spirit comes in,

0:34:16 > 0:34:20and I'll end up wanting to do more. But, yeah, we'll see what happens.

0:34:22 > 0:34:25Tom is practising last-minute for his driving test,

0:34:25 > 0:34:30but it's qualification for the Olympics that's preoccupying him.

0:34:30 > 0:34:35A top eight finish in China will secure him a place at London 2012.

0:34:36 > 0:34:40Qiu Bo is doing the front four-and-a-half really well.

0:34:40 > 0:34:43He's doing ridiculously hard dives at the moment

0:34:43 > 0:34:45and he's doing them very consistently too.

0:34:45 > 0:34:49That's the main thing, to try to put pressure on the Chinese people.

0:34:49 > 0:34:53They don't really like pressure, so if you put the pressure on them,

0:34:53 > 0:34:56that's when, hopefully, they might buckle a little bit,

0:34:56 > 0:34:58when you have to try and take advantage of them.

0:35:00 > 0:35:03The most difficult thing about the front four-and-a-half is the fact

0:35:03 > 0:35:05there's so much dive that you have to fit in.

0:35:05 > 0:35:08You have to run down the board, you have to jump up steep,

0:35:08 > 0:35:10you have squeeze into your tuck really tight,

0:35:10 > 0:35:13you have to do all the spins and rotations.

0:35:13 > 0:35:17The G-force is constantly trying to pull you out of your shapes.

0:35:17 > 0:35:19It all comes down to doing it once.

0:35:19 > 0:35:21That's the thing that scares me,

0:35:21 > 0:35:23the fact I can train for however many hours you want.

0:35:23 > 0:35:25But it's only one of each dive that counts.

0:35:49 > 0:35:51Tom's greatest challenge in Shanghai,

0:35:51 > 0:35:54is beating his arch rival Qiu Bo.

0:35:56 > 0:36:01At 18 Qiu Bo is only a few months older than Tom.

0:36:01 > 0:36:05He's already scored a record-breaking number of perfect-ten scores,

0:36:05 > 0:36:09and is reputed to be the most dangerous contender

0:36:09 > 0:36:11for Tom's world title.

0:36:11 > 0:36:13The mop volume you do on your dives, the better they are.

0:36:13 > 0:36:15When you've done a new dive,

0:36:15 > 0:36:17and you've only done them, say, 100 times,

0:36:17 > 0:36:20they're not going to be as good as someone like Qiu Bo

0:36:20 > 0:36:23who's done them, say, 1,000 times, as he's been doing them for four years.

0:36:25 > 0:36:28The Chinese have assembled the most formidable team ever.

0:36:28 > 0:36:32Over 100 divers have been put through Chinese sports camps.

0:36:43 > 0:36:45CHEERING

0:36:49 > 0:36:52He seems to be, at the moment, coping very well.

0:36:52 > 0:36:56Obviously, deep down, he must be feeling it,

0:36:56 > 0:36:58losing your father, anybody who loses a father,

0:36:58 > 0:37:01it's a difficult thing, especially at a young age like he is.

0:37:01 > 0:37:03I think he will miss Rob in the crowd.

0:37:12 > 0:37:13AUDIENCE GASPS

0:37:13 > 0:37:16Oh, that's good.

0:37:20 > 0:37:23Not his best.

0:37:26 > 0:37:30I can't see him, unfortunately, medalling this time. But you never know.

0:37:34 > 0:37:37Ooh, a bit of splash. Oh, bit of splash.

0:37:37 > 0:37:39Two months after his father died,

0:37:39 > 0:37:43Tom loses his World Championship title to Qiu Bo.

0:40:22 > 0:40:26I think, within China, it is a really unique opportunity.

0:40:26 > 0:40:29The timing of Tom, his age, and China and sport,

0:41:28 > 0:41:30I will go to London.

0:41:42 > 0:41:45Despite losing his World Championship title,

0:41:45 > 0:41:49the commercial possibilities for Tom are endless.

0:41:49 > 0:41:52Madame Tussauds have commissioned a waxwork

0:41:52 > 0:41:55for an exhibition on Olympians,

0:41:55 > 0:41:59and a biography is being published to mark Tom's 18th birthday.

0:42:05 > 0:42:08We thought as well it would be interesting to try a different colour scheme.

0:42:08 > 0:42:11I like the fact it is quite a close-up shot on the front

0:42:11 > 0:42:13so you can actually see who it is.

0:42:13 > 0:42:15And then, on the back, at least,

0:42:15 > 0:42:21there's one people would normally associate me with, ie, no clothes!

0:42:21 > 0:42:22THEY LAUGH

0:42:22 > 0:42:25There's going to be a lot of noise around Tom Daley.

0:42:25 > 0:42:27That's natural, because,

0:42:27 > 0:42:31there are so many dimensions, if you like, to Tom on an interest level.

0:42:31 > 0:42:36He is the pin-up for the teenage girls, there's no question of that.

0:42:36 > 0:42:40Mums and dads have respect him for what he's achieved, because he's an A* student.

0:42:40 > 0:42:43He's got pretty much A* in everything he's done.

0:42:43 > 0:42:45He is the best he can be, he's a great role model.

0:42:45 > 0:42:47Grandparents love him.

0:42:47 > 0:42:50It's one of those, he's cross- generation, from that point of view.

0:42:50 > 0:42:52But there are mutterings in the press

0:42:52 > 0:42:55that maybe Tom is doing too much media work

0:42:55 > 0:42:58and it's affecting his diving.

0:42:58 > 0:43:01Even the head of British diving, the Russian coach Alexei Evangulov,

0:43:01 > 0:43:04has publicly voiced his concerns.

0:43:04 > 0:43:08I respect Alexei, he's one of the best diving coaches in the world.

0:43:08 > 0:43:11He's got outstanding experience.

0:43:11 > 0:43:13In his perfect world,

0:43:13 > 0:43:17Tom Daley would not be doing media or commercial work,

0:43:17 > 0:43:20he would be - forgive me, Alexei, for saying this -

0:43:20 > 0:43:26but in probably northern China or northern Russia,

0:43:26 > 0:43:29just diving 24/7.

0:43:29 > 0:43:31And that's fine to say that, but there is a difference.

0:43:31 > 0:43:33That isn't who Tom Daley is.

0:43:35 > 0:43:37It's early September, and Tom's going back to school

0:43:37 > 0:43:41to start the final year of his A-levels.

0:43:41 > 0:43:44Trousers. There we go, right.

0:43:44 > 0:43:51I'll hang this up over here so that it's all ready in the morning.

0:43:51 > 0:43:55This is my dad area.

0:43:55 > 0:43:59- That's some of my dad's ashes are in there.- Really?- Yeah.

0:43:59 > 0:44:02Just a little heart.

0:44:02 > 0:44:05When I first got given it, I was bit like...

0:44:06 > 0:44:09..oh, my God, like, it's really weird.

0:44:09 > 0:44:13It's weird to think that your dad's in there, kind of thing.

0:44:13 > 0:44:17But it's always good to have, he's always there, then, isn't he?

0:44:17 > 0:44:21Right, I think I'm ready for school, by the looks of it.

0:44:21 > 0:44:24- Are you excited about going back to school?- Yeah. I guess so.

0:44:24 > 0:44:27I'm kind of looking forward to going back to school.

0:44:27 > 0:44:28There's so many things going on.

0:44:28 > 0:44:30Loads of competitions we've got to go to.

0:44:30 > 0:44:34We've got a three-week training camp at the end of the year in Australia.

0:44:34 > 0:44:36Then we've got the National Championships in January.

0:44:36 > 0:44:38Then three weeks at the World Cup.

0:44:38 > 0:44:41Then we've got four weeks of all the World Series.

0:44:41 > 0:44:44Then we've got lots of training camps in between that.

0:44:44 > 0:44:46Two weeks in Plymouth for a training camp.

0:44:46 > 0:44:48Then the European Championships in May.

0:44:48 > 0:44:50Then we've got the National Championships.

0:44:50 > 0:44:52Then we've got a two-week training camp.

0:44:52 > 0:44:54Warm weather training camp.

0:44:54 > 0:44:57Then home for two weeks, and then a two-week pre-Olympic camp.

0:44:57 > 0:45:00And then we're into the Olympics. So, it's a long year.

0:45:06 > 0:45:09Tom and Pete Waterfield hope to represent Great Britain

0:45:09 > 0:45:12in the ten metre synchro in the London Olympics.

0:45:12 > 0:45:15With Pete based in Southampton, and Tom in Plymouth,

0:45:15 > 0:45:17they've had few opportunities to train together.

0:45:18 > 0:45:21Go for that entry.

0:45:21 > 0:45:22Legs up, and through.

0:45:26 > 0:45:28Really happy.

0:45:28 > 0:45:30The best one of each of the dives that they did

0:45:30 > 0:45:32was really world-class.

0:45:32 > 0:45:34Yeah. Nice.

0:45:34 > 0:45:37- I haven't been getting any like that.- No?

0:45:37 > 0:45:39It must be you.

0:45:39 > 0:45:41Bringing the best out of me.

0:45:41 > 0:45:44Yeah, it was good, considering we haven't trained together for ages.

0:45:44 > 0:45:46Yeah, it's looking really good, actually.

0:45:46 > 0:45:48It looks really good.

0:45:48 > 0:45:50Can't wait to get them up on the ten metre.

0:45:55 > 0:45:57184 days,

0:45:57 > 0:46:02three hours, 36 minutes and 19, 18, 17 seconds,

0:46:02 > 0:46:04until the Olympics.

0:46:04 > 0:46:06Now, that's scary.

0:46:06 > 0:46:09Well, most nights I think about diving in 2012.

0:46:09 > 0:46:12It's that kind of thing where you get yourself all hyped up,

0:46:12 > 0:46:13and your heart's going all the time.

0:46:13 > 0:46:16But I try not to think about it too much,

0:46:16 > 0:46:19because you let yourself get carried away.

0:46:19 > 0:46:21You just have to focus on the now rather than the future.

0:46:26 > 0:46:27And from now on,

0:46:27 > 0:46:29the pressure will keep mounting.

0:46:29 > 0:46:32The Diving World Cup is Tom and Pete's next chance

0:46:32 > 0:46:34to pit themselves against the Chinese

0:46:34 > 0:46:36with the home crowd behind them.

0:46:36 > 0:46:41And as the qualifying competition for the ten metre synchro event at the London Olympics,

0:46:41 > 0:46:45the pressure is on all divers to secure a place.

0:46:45 > 0:46:48- Who have you come to see tonight? - Tom.

0:46:49 > 0:46:52Guess who!?

0:46:54 > 0:46:59- I love him so much. - You love him so much, do you? Why?

0:46:59 > 0:47:01Because he's beautiful.

0:47:03 > 0:47:07Excuse me, who have you come to see tonight?

0:47:07 > 0:47:10We've come to see Tom Daley obviously.

0:47:10 > 0:47:11Tom Daley, yay!

0:47:15 > 0:47:17Who have you come to see tonight?

0:47:17 > 0:47:20- My son.- Who's that? - Peter Waterfield.

0:47:20 > 0:47:22- Are you Pete's dad?- Yeah. Don't I look like him?!

0:47:24 > 0:47:25I wanted to make him a millionaire

0:47:25 > 0:47:27and I just gave him my looks.

0:47:27 > 0:47:29It's a bit sad, really.

0:47:29 > 0:47:33- But, rock on for tonight, I'm sure they're going to do well.- Good luck.

0:47:36 > 0:47:38So, what are you predicting for tonight?

0:47:41 > 0:47:42Bronze.

0:47:44 > 0:47:47Gold medal would be quite nice, but...

0:47:49 > 0:47:50CHEERING AND WHISTLING

0:47:59 > 0:48:03The Chinese win the gold in the ten metre synchro.

0:48:03 > 0:48:07Tom and Pete score the lowest marks of all the competitors

0:48:07 > 0:48:09for the front four-and-a-half.

0:48:12 > 0:48:13How are you feeling?

0:48:13 > 0:48:16Well, it was a fantastic competition.

0:48:16 > 0:48:19And one dive, that's all it takes.

0:48:19 > 0:48:21At this level, it's always just one dive.

0:48:21 > 0:48:27Unfortunately, Tom Daley and his partner Pete didn't get a medal.

0:48:27 > 0:48:30Do you know where they came?

0:48:30 > 0:48:33They came seventh, I think.

0:48:33 > 0:48:36And what about the Chinese, when you look at them,

0:48:36 > 0:48:38do you dread them going up on the board?

0:48:38 > 0:48:42Well, no, because, at the end of the day, they are the best.

0:48:42 > 0:48:45You've got to say the best is the best.

0:48:45 > 0:48:50To us, a silver medal is the world's gold, if you know what I mean.

0:48:50 > 0:48:53How does that make you feel about the Olympics?

0:48:53 > 0:48:56Nerve-racking.

0:48:56 > 0:48:58Because there's so many of them,

0:48:58 > 0:49:00they just bring them out like a conveyor belt.

0:49:00 > 0:49:05That is, unfortunately, what we're up against.

0:49:05 > 0:49:13But one dive, as I say, one dive England, one dive China,

0:49:13 > 0:49:14one dive America.

0:49:14 > 0:49:18However drops that dive, someone's in with a good shot.

0:49:18 > 0:49:19I know they can do it.

0:49:25 > 0:49:28With the Olympics looming on the horizon,

0:49:28 > 0:49:32Tom is carrying a huge weight on his young shoulders.

0:49:34 > 0:49:37You kind of just feel quite lonely on the end of the diving board.

0:49:37 > 0:49:39Because, you're there, it's you,

0:49:39 > 0:49:42there's no-one else that can help you now.

0:49:44 > 0:49:47You know everyone's looking at you, everyone's judging you.

0:49:47 > 0:49:49You feel quite vulnerable.

0:49:51 > 0:49:53MUFFLED TANNOY ANNOUNCEMENT

0:49:56 > 0:49:58MUFFLED CHEERING

0:50:08 > 0:50:12And how has the last year been for you?

0:50:12 > 0:50:15- It's been a terrible year in many ways.- Yeah.

0:50:15 > 0:50:18Well, this past year has been hard.

0:50:18 > 0:50:21And then it's been good at the same time.

0:50:21 > 0:50:24Because obviously it was really hard losing my dad,

0:50:24 > 0:50:26he was a massive part of my diving career.

0:50:26 > 0:50:28He was a massive part of my life.

0:50:28 > 0:50:33But then, qualifying for the Olympics was just amazing.

0:50:33 > 0:50:36And that's the kind of thing that I know he would be proud of me,

0:50:36 > 0:50:39and going into this competition, I know he'll be here,

0:50:39 > 0:50:40he'll be there watching.

0:50:54 > 0:50:56I'm Tom's dad.

0:50:56 > 0:51:00Tom, come and give me a cuddle. Please, come on, please.

0:51:00 > 0:51:03Dad, you'll make me cry.

0:51:06 > 0:51:09APPLAUSE

0:51:22 > 0:51:24My dad always taught me

0:51:24 > 0:51:28to not care what anyone else thinks of what you're doing,

0:51:28 > 0:51:32because I know that I'm training as hard as I possibly can,

0:51:32 > 0:51:36nd my dad, if he was here, he would definitely have been encouraging me,

0:51:36 > 0:51:41saying, the fact you're training hard, you're putting all the hours in,

0:51:41 > 0:51:42you're doing really well.

0:51:42 > 0:51:46Whatever happens, you've just got to be happy with your own performance

0:51:46 > 0:51:49and try your best, and not worry what everyone else thinks.
