:00:15. > :00:30.Wales Euro 2016 adventure has inspired a nation. I am very proud.

:00:31. > :00:37.Sam Vokes. There are incredible performance has kept a gene alive.

:00:38. > :00:48.When Bale was given the ball have to time I stopped believing. They set

:00:49. > :00:58.pulses racing. Chris Coleman, put that into words. They exceeded all

:00:59. > :01:10.expectations. Now we are a football mission. A football mission.

:01:11. > :01:23.Robson-Kanu. Can someone explain what has happened? Semifinal. This

:01:24. > :01:40.is how they made history. Wales extraordinary journey began

:01:41. > :01:45.with hope and trepidation. They had never been to a major tournament. We

:01:46. > :01:51.know what the expectations are as a group, as a team, as a country. We

:01:52. > :01:57.know what we are capable of. We need to look at it in a positive light.

:01:58. > :02:00.It is a huge challenge for us. To be fully involved as a nation will be

:02:01. > :02:12.amazing for everybody and hopefully we can do everybody proud. For the

:02:13. > :02:19.opening game against Slovakia Wales travels along with thousands of

:02:20. > :02:28.hopeful supporters. It has been amazing. Everybody is good fun. As

:02:29. > :02:30.soon as you see another Wales shirt. Everybody is looking forward to the

:02:31. > :02:35.game tonight. After nearly 60 years of trying Wales were finally about

:02:36. > :02:44.to play their first game in a major tournament. We did not know who we

:02:45. > :02:49.were going to do against Slovakia. Some fans were apprehensive. Some

:02:50. > :02:53.were just happy to be there. I never got there as a player and as

:02:54. > :03:01.assistant manager I never got there, so thank you for inviting me.

:03:02. > :03:05.The BBC had asked me to do the first two games which was five days apart.

:03:06. > :03:22.I was in a rush when I got to the airport. I watched the first game in

:03:23. > :03:27.a pub with my mates. It was just an odd feeling because we have never

:03:28. > :03:34.done it before. The Norwegian referee blows his whistle. Slovakia

:03:35. > :03:45.get the game underway. In five minutes Welsh nerves were being

:03:46. > :03:52.tested. And believable. But those nerves were about to be eased. Great

:03:53. > :04:01.position for a Gareth Bale on his favoured left foot. Half the time he

:04:02. > :04:12.stopped breathing, as if that will help.

:04:13. > :04:16.I guaranteed the manager has sat down with the goalkeeper and a short

:04:17. > :04:19.all of Gaelic deal's free kicks but it is his reputation that makes the

:04:20. > :04:35.goalkeeper panic. Left footed. He has scored. Bale for Wales. The

:04:36. > :04:42.towers man has delivered. Who else? Now the chance. The equalising goal.

:04:43. > :04:48.Even the also ' came back into the game and they went 1-1, I was

:04:49. > :05:04.thinking we can still win this. It did not feel that we were out of it.

:05:05. > :05:15.Aaron Ramsey. Robson-Kanu shoots. It is Wales two, Slovakia one. It is a

:05:16. > :05:29.brilliantly shinned goal. Nobody cared. To get that result made a

:05:30. > :05:36.statement in this competition. 58 years they have waited and victory

:05:37. > :05:43.in their first game back on the big stage. You have once again made

:05:44. > :05:49.hastily, a first match in a European Championships, and a first victory.

:05:50. > :05:56.It is my proudest moments, when we came out. Our supporters keep on

:05:57. > :06:01.topping what they have done. We win together and we lose together. Being

:06:02. > :06:07.a manager when I game is finished you enjoy it for a ten minutes then

:06:08. > :06:10.you worry about the next game. He had find a balance and that balance

:06:11. > :06:24.is the secret to their success. Wales tournament had got off to the

:06:25. > :06:30.perfect start but something far bigger was looming. A match against

:06:31. > :06:38.the Auld enemy, England. The mind games began. If I can quote a few

:06:39. > :06:45.quarts allegedly attributed to you, England pick themselves up, passion,

:06:46. > :06:56.pride, patriotism. Did you see all that and did you mean it? I never

:06:57. > :07:01.said they did not have passion. I just feel that we have more and I am

:07:02. > :07:08.sure they have the opinion they have more also. We do not have any doubts

:07:09. > :07:15.ourselves about our passion, desire and commitment. Our wish to do well

:07:16. > :07:29.in the June two. If other people have an opinion that is fine by me.

:07:30. > :07:30.I think I know your answer,. We had had the mind games, now came the

:07:31. > :07:39.hype. The dragon under the mountain. A

:07:40. > :07:58.week now. Both managers have tried to play it

:07:59. > :08:03.down but we do not have too, we have been playing it up since the

:08:04. > :08:08.fixtures were announced. I am more nervous now than when I was playing.

:08:09. > :08:13.England have changed, not surprisingly. He needs players to

:08:14. > :08:21.deliver. 21,000 days since I Welsh player 's board. When that whistle

:08:22. > :08:27.goes both players will be at it, it will be a typical British game,

:08:28. > :08:32.physical, aggressive. There is quality in both teams. I am looking

:08:33. > :08:34.forward to a good game of football. Once the whistle goes and does not

:08:35. > :08:42.matter what anybody said because it is going to business. I wanted Wales

:08:43. > :08:46.to beat England. He wanted that kind of Picardy. It is because we are a

:08:47. > :08:52.small country, there is that that of a grudge that I would accept losing

:08:53. > :09:02.to other teams if they beat England. That is full, I know it is awful.

:09:03. > :09:10.That is me. I way we go. The Lions, won the Dragon, it sounds like

:09:11. > :09:18.legend. Raheem Sterling cannot keep it down. Wayne Rooney. Chris

:09:19. > :09:27.Smalling met it. Just past the post. Not far past that. We thought that,

:09:28. > :09:38.England are starting to click, we were taking a bit of punishment. Up

:09:39. > :09:41.stepped the King himself, Lord Bale. We have seen some amazing things

:09:42. > :09:46.from Gareth Bale but this would be something else if it goes on from

:09:47. > :10:03.here. As he steps up, over the wall. He has scored. It is Bale.

:10:04. > :10:14.Not many players in the world can do that. What a free kick. What I goal.

:10:15. > :10:27.When it went in my shirt went up over my head and my wife shouted,

:10:28. > :10:34.put your belly button back in. England needed and X Factor of their

:10:35. > :10:41.own. Jamie Vardy is there, England are level. That momentum was now

:10:42. > :10:45.with England. With the final whistle approaching England delivered the

:10:46. > :10:54.decisive blow. Daniel Sturridge. He scores. I was gutted. It was

:10:55. > :10:58.sickening. If they scored in the 70th minute you could live with it

:10:59. > :11:03.but the fact they scored at the end, you are questioning what will happen

:11:04. > :11:11.next. Talk about passion, talk about pride, this end and team has it in

:11:12. > :11:16.bucketloads. Wales were down but not out. Inside we are still strong and

:11:17. > :11:20.happy. We still have one more game to go. The tournament is not over

:11:21. > :11:26.yet. We are still in the thick of it and we will go to the next game with

:11:27. > :11:32.more strength. England were top of the table, Wales had four days to

:11:33. > :11:40.pick themselves up for the final group game. We know we will be

:11:41. > :11:43.disappointed but come tomorrow, this is done, as simple as that. We can

:11:44. > :11:46.be disappointed about this result but now it is time to get on with

:11:47. > :11:52.playing. It is not the end of the world. We still have a great chance

:11:53. > :11:58.to qualifying. If we beat Russia we go through, we march on. Come on,

:11:59. > :12:02.Wales. The fans headed south to Toulouse for the last group game

:12:03. > :12:08.against Russia. Lose the match and they were in danger of going home. I

:12:09. > :12:15.was happy with a draw. I just wanted that extra point to make sure we

:12:16. > :12:22.were definitely going through. This is for Wales is it. The equation can

:12:23. > :12:29.be simple. When. If they do that they are guaranteed to finish either

:12:30. > :12:39.top or second in the group. Brilliant golfer Aaron Ramsey. He

:12:40. > :12:49.scores for Wales. The Arsenal midfielder has drawn first blood.

:12:50. > :12:53.What a ball from Joe Allen. Aaron Ramsey has got the audacity to wait

:12:54. > :13:02.for the goalkeeper to go down and then he brings it over him, cool,

:13:03. > :13:06.calm, collected. 1-0 Wales. Gareth Bale trying to exploit a gap in the

:13:07. > :13:21.Russian rearguard. A great run. It has come to Taylor. His first ever

:13:22. > :13:31.goal for Wales. They are in dreamland. We have not played 20

:13:32. > :13:43.minutes yet. It is 2-0, Wales. Joe Ledley. Chris Gunter. Aaron Ramsey.

:13:44. > :13:51.Weaving it through to Bale. He is on site. Surely, this time. There is

:13:52. > :14:01.the man. There is the man with the plan. 3-0. Sam Vokes would have been

:14:02. > :14:08.in an offside position, he was clever enough to leave it for Bale,

:14:09. > :14:14.he sees the goalkeeper rushing out, he composes himself, outside of his

:14:15. > :14:23.left boot, flex it, what a finish. 3-0, wheels. What a performance. We

:14:24. > :14:26.could have scored 14 or 15 goals. The result was a flattering result

:14:27. > :14:36.for them. That was the first time we thought we are in the great chance.

:14:37. > :14:47.The whistle has gone. Wales are through. They are inspiring a nation

:14:48. > :14:52.which is really something special. It is history being made in front of

:14:53. > :14:59.us and I feel lucky to be witnessing it on television. That is what that

:15:00. > :15:09.means. That is what it means to these vans. And believable passion,

:15:10. > :15:19.spirit. The supporters have been amazing. It has been the best

:15:20. > :15:24.moments of their lives they have said. A lot of them are glad they

:15:25. > :15:34.are beer. We have waited for so long to be part of a huge tournament.

:15:35. > :15:38.Fantastic. They have been unbelievable of this campaign. Their

:15:39. > :15:46.support, the way they have behaved, it makes us proud to be Welsh. More

:15:47. > :15:51.good news was to come. Wales has finished top of the group ensuring

:15:52. > :15:53.an easier route through the knockout stages. The celebrations carried on

:15:54. > :16:13.late into the night. # Please don't take me home

:16:14. > :16:22.# I want to stay here # Please don't take me home. #

:16:23. > :16:25.Wales edits to Paris for a last 16 match against Northern Ireland, win

:16:26. > :16:28.the game and they would be in the quarterfinals. We were favourites

:16:29. > :16:33.going into which was a little bit different. Northern Ireland expected

:16:34. > :16:46.us to go in there and win. But Northern Ireland were organised.

:16:47. > :16:50.There was that feeling that if they catch you on a counterattack you are

:16:51. > :16:53.in trouble. Saturday 25th of June is a day that people will remember for

:16:54. > :16:56.the rest of their lives and not only because it is the Beach Festival but

:16:57. > :17:02.also because Wales will rise to one of their greatest triumphs of all

:17:03. > :17:13.time. Bale for Wales, he has done it again. Robson-Kanu. We are behind

:17:14. > :17:23.you all the way. It has come to Taylor. They are in G-man. We are so

:17:24. > :17:33.proud of you. We can do this. Surely this time.

:17:34. > :17:45.Pride and passion, give it to them. We know you can do it, see you in

:17:46. > :17:57.the quarterfinals. With a quarterfinal place up for grabs the

:17:58. > :17:58.stage was set. Get into the Parc des Princes, I got there in time for the

:17:59. > :18:30.Welsh national anthem. proud to be a Welsh ban in all my

:18:31. > :18:33.life. Never. It is a major tournament. It is Wales, it is

:18:34. > :18:39.Northern Ireland, it is in Paris. For whoever wins the game there is

:18:40. > :18:44.more of this yet to come. There are three red shirts in the middle. Sam

:18:45. > :19:00.Vokes. Offside Aaron Ramsey as he turns the ball in. Jonny Evans. Shot

:19:01. > :19:13.fired. Fired nicely by Jamie Ward. Robson-Kanu. Aaron Ramsey. Bale

:19:14. > :19:21.behind him. It is turned into his own net by the unfortunate Gareth

:19:22. > :19:25.McAuley. My favourite Welsh man at the moment, Gareth McAuley, a great

:19:26. > :19:26.goal he scored for us against Northern Ireland. Thank you, you are

:19:27. > :19:43.a true Welshman. It is wise he goes off before that

:19:44. > :19:52.gets worse. Aaron Ramsey is saying it is fine. Adrenaline is taking

:19:53. > :19:55.over here. That kind of will to want to stay, to not want to give up.

:19:56. > :19:59.There's a bit where you go, your armies hanging off. In one of the

:20:00. > :20:03.pictures I saw, you could see there was something wrong. But I

:20:04. > :20:06.understand you want to give everything you could possibly give.

:20:07. > :20:12.There is that never say die, never give up bit about she wants to be

:20:13. > :20:18.there for that moment. From Martin Atkinson... It is another Wales

:20:19. > :20:34.winner. On the way to the quarterfinals. Wales are in the

:20:35. > :20:40.quarterfinals of the euro 16. It is beyond your wildest dreams. You

:20:41. > :20:49.can't ask for any more. It is incredible. I saw your daughter give

:20:50. > :20:56.you a message earlier. What did it say? He the talismanic for Wales,

:20:57. > :20:59.the one they all look up to. The group have been led by him and I

:21:00. > :21:04.have loved it because he's a player, a world class player and has

:21:05. > :21:13.sacrificed at times maybe a little bit going forward to help the team.

:21:14. > :21:17.He is solid enough to defend them. Incredibly, after 58 years of

:21:18. > :21:20.failing to qualify for a major tournament, Wales were now on their

:21:21. > :21:32.way to the quarterfinal of one. The party had already begun.

:21:33. > :21:41.I think is a disco champion, to be honest. They all dance like that.

:21:42. > :21:56.They don't score many goals until they do that!

:21:57. > :22:06.The Joe Ledley shuffle. It just a bit matters what a good time they

:22:07. > :22:09.are having. -- it epitomises. When you go on these tournaments you are

:22:10. > :22:15.a long time away from people you want to be with. They seem to be

:22:16. > :22:18.content with each other's company and when you are cooped up in a

:22:19. > :22:24.hotel for a long time, that's a thing. The team returned activates.

:22:25. > :22:29.Now, they would wait to see who will would join them for the last eight.

:22:30. > :22:30.Some thought Wales get is the quarters was a surprise, but an even

:22:31. > :22:52.bigger shock was coming. I is land, the smallest nation in

:22:53. > :23:08.the competition had knocked out Icelander. -- Icelander. They would

:23:09. > :23:19.face Belgium, the second-best in the world.

:23:20. > :23:27.Won't somebody tell me what is the soul of man? Will somebody tell me,

:23:28. > :23:43.what is the soul of man? # well, I've travelled to different

:23:44. > :23:46.countries, I've travelled to the foreign land. I've found a nobody

:23:47. > :24:00.who can tell me, tell me what is the soul of a man. Well I saw a crowd

:24:01. > :24:06.talking, I just came up in time, the teacher, the lawyer and the doctor,

:24:07. > :24:16.a man in nothing but his mind. I want somebody to tell me, and a semi

:24:17. > :24:24.if can. Want somebody to tell me, tell me what is the soul of man. #

:24:25. > :24:50.#, what is the soul of man. #. There's nothing for us to be afraid

:24:51. > :24:56.of, no fear. It is tense, tough, exciting. The future is not written,

:24:57. > :25:00.we do not know what it will be in a game of football or anything. What

:25:01. > :25:06.is in our control is ourselves and our performance and that is what we

:25:07. > :25:23.are looking at. SSE Arena here we go. Big chance, big save.

:25:24. > :25:32.Brilliantly defended. Little bit of room. He took the shot, she scores

:25:33. > :25:36.magnificently. My head was in my hand so many timers and I was in a

:25:37. > :25:40.pub in the valley and everyone was just like, you know... The

:25:41. > :25:47.atmosphere was outstanding and to be fair, that first goal was so, so

:25:48. > :25:52.good. I really hoped that was the thing of what was to come. What I

:25:53. > :25:57.see in the Welsh team is the team spirit. It goes beyond where you are

:25:58. > :26:02.as an individual player. It is how they behave as a team. They have a

:26:03. > :26:14.genuine belief they could go in and do well. They've got a plan. Aaron

:26:15. > :26:27.Ramsey, he is on site. Aaron Ramsey has cornered Williams. Williams for

:26:28. > :26:29.Wales! It's a great delivery. He's got his eyes on the ball, heads it

:26:30. > :26:52.to the ground. Bail. Aaron Ramsey. What a goal from Hal Robson-Kanu.

:26:53. > :26:55.What a finish from his left foot. Given the comedy is one of the best

:26:56. > :27:03.goalkeepers in the world. Brilliant finish. I just couldn't believe it.

:27:04. > :27:18.Wales were on fire and the world was watching. Hal Robson-Kanu! On the

:27:19. > :27:29.fire! Towards Chris Woakes. Sam Vokes!

:27:30. > :27:38.Wales are into the semifinal of the European Championship. Something

:27:39. > :27:59.special is happening here tonight. He gets there first. Puts it into

:28:00. > :28:03.the corner of the net. Unbelievable. Wales are going into the semifinals

:28:04. > :28:09.of the European Championship. Amazing, amazing stuff.

:28:10. > :28:18.Wales have done it. They've come from behind to beat the mighty

:28:19. > :28:26.Belgians. Wales had pulled off the result of the tournament. Fans could

:28:27. > :28:33.not believe what they were seeing. Yet! Getting there! Come on!

:28:34. > :28:51.Wow, just wow. One of their greatest performances in the history of

:28:52. > :28:56.British football. Version is commitment, desire, passion, but

:28:57. > :29:10.most of all, they've shown ability. They 100% deserve to be where they

:29:11. > :29:16.are. You're going home! I don't want to be the dampener on it, but your

:29:17. > :29:20.car park balloons going to be high. I do mind, I'll put my hand in my

:29:21. > :29:24.pocket. I suppose it was a funny story for everybody. I had all sorts

:29:25. > :29:27.of people ringing me. I was on Brazilian television doing an

:29:28. > :29:30.interview about it. I thought I was going to talk about football on

:29:31. > :29:33.Brazilian television and the first question asked me was tell us about

:29:34. > :29:42.your car in the car park! What is going on? Is probably generation of

:29:43. > :29:47.young boys and girls staying up far too late to watch Wales make the

:29:48. > :29:52.semifinal. So watch message for those back home? Dream. Don't be

:29:53. > :29:58.afraid to dream. Four years ago, I was as far away from this as you can

:29:59. > :30:05.imagine. Chris Coleman would once see his team jobs 117th in the world

:30:06. > :30:11.and had taken Wales to the European semifinal. Their opponents would be

:30:12. > :30:15.Portugal. I would never thought I would see Wales in a major

:30:16. > :30:22.tournaments, never mind in the semifinals -- semifinals of a major

:30:23. > :30:25.tournament. When you have the unity and determination they have, you can

:30:26. > :30:30.do what you want. They're definitely showing youngsters you can dream big

:30:31. > :30:34.and achieve it. They'd been ranked outsiders when they arrived at the

:30:35. > :30:43.Euros. Now they were the talk of the town. It's worth saying twice, isn't

:30:44. > :30:50.it, that Wales could reach the final of the Euros tonight? It's

:30:51. > :31:00.incredible. Don't jinx it. From Pontypool... To London. I know the

:31:01. > :31:07.whole house will want to wish Wales look ahead of the Euro 2016

:31:08. > :31:23.semifinal this evening. We wish them all the best. And Los Angeles. Go

:31:24. > :31:31.Wales! Go Wales! Together, stronger. Let us do this. Excitement was

:31:32. > :31:37.hitting heights never seen before. Amazing, like a dream come true.

:31:38. > :31:44.It didn't matter if you couldn't get to France. In Cardiff, 27,000 fans

:31:45. > :31:54.gathered to watch the biggest match in Welsh football history on a big

:31:55. > :31:59.screen. All eyes were fixed on Lyon for the European semifinal. Wales

:32:00. > :32:11.versus Portugal. Bale versus Ronaldo. Further than any Wales team

:32:12. > :32:14.that has gone before. Together stronger is the Welsh motto. They

:32:15. > :32:20.were together team and get ready to kick off. The country's first ever

:32:21. > :32:30.major tournament football semifinal. Rinaldo. Rinaldo was fouled and he

:32:31. > :32:35.very nearly played. Something different! Bale. Portugal out.

:32:36. > :32:41.Nearly everybody out. Bale skips past... The first half

:32:42. > :32:56.remained goalless. Somebody had to break the deadlock.

:32:57. > :33:21.Goal! Here's Ronaldo once again. Finished

:33:22. > :33:42.off. It looks as though Wales all signing out. -- are signing out.

:33:43. > :33:58.Listen to that. Wales were bowing out of the Euros. But the fans sang

:33:59. > :34:03.to the end. Joe Allen. All over in Lyon. All over for Wales. It will be

:34:04. > :34:11.Portugal in Paris on Sunday. But for Wales, this is only the end of one

:34:12. > :34:20.story. In years to come, thousands upon thousands will be able to

:34:21. > :34:25.fondly say, I wasn't there. -- I was there.

:34:26. > :34:31.It will always hurt whoever is the first to bow out. I didn't expect it

:34:32. > :34:35.to her this much. They should be proud of themselves, the nation is

:34:36. > :34:41.proud of them, and so am I. It is Oliver tonight, but they will look

:34:42. > :34:50.back and should know how will they have done for the country.

:34:51. > :34:56.Portugal would go on to win the Euros. The Welsh campaign was over.

:34:57. > :35:02.But they had exceeded all expectations. Everybody knows Wales

:35:03. > :35:06.now. Some people didn't know where Wales was, believe it or not. But

:35:07. > :35:12.now we are a football nation. A big nation.

:35:13. > :35:20.The team were given a hero 's welcome.

:35:21. > :35:26.It feels that that message of being a team has come at and really

:35:27. > :35:33.strongly and that pride and passion and, you know, good luck to them! I

:35:34. > :35:39.hope this is a stepping stone for Wales to go on and do lots of other

:35:40. > :35:46.really exciting things. They will never forget the Welsh story, they

:35:47. > :35:51.were sublime on and off the field. The fans were great, the team spirit

:35:52. > :35:56.has been fantastic. It's just been a pleasure to be Welsh.

:35:57. > :36:07.It's just been fantastic. I thoroughly enjoyed it. It's put the

:36:08. > :36:13.nation on the world stage. It's been a fantastic couple of weeks. Washing

:36:14. > :36:17.them and also followed them. Over 100,000 fans had made the trip to

:36:18. > :36:25.France. Now it felt as if they had all come to Cardiff. Is what you

:36:26. > :36:29.dream of as a kid. Drugs that your country want them but played a major

:36:30. > :36:36.tournament and have got through to these other -- semifinal, is

:36:37. > :36:39.surpassed all expectations. I never thought we'd see this in our

:36:40. > :36:45.lifetime, but it's such a special occasion. Is a credit to a phone who

:36:46. > :36:48.came out to support us. We couldn't have dream of something like this a

:36:49. > :36:50.couple of years ago. Credit to the manager and the country for pulling

:36:51. > :37:00.together and achieving something like this. Quite emotional, really.

:37:01. > :37:03.It is one of pride, what the lads in the staff have achieved, to

:37:04. > :37:09.celebrate with the fans like this makes me proud. Imagine if you'd

:37:10. > :37:14.would it! We just said that, what would it be like if we'd won? This

:37:15. > :37:25.was a part in nobody wanted to miss. There is Joe Ledley! Even for those

:37:26. > :37:30.getting married in IB. -- I be so. I give up.

:37:31. > :37:35.It's what it means to the whole country. It is nice to say thank you

:37:36. > :37:41.for supporting us and being there with others and these amazing

:37:42. > :37:49.scenes. It is something we will never forget. The Welsh European

:37:50. > :37:57.journey ended where it began. Now, a World Cup qualifying campaign begins

:37:58. > :38:00.in September. So stand by. This story is not over. The adventure

:38:01. > :38:34.continues. For others to achieve what we have,

:38:35. > :38:39.this speaks volumes for the players. It is not just about talent, you

:38:40. > :38:42.have to have a hunger and a desire. That was with us throughout and

:38:43. > :38:47.carried us in a lot of games. It has been a privilege to watch them, be a

:38:48. > :38:52.part of them guide them and lead them. I could not ask for anything

:38:53. > :38:56.more from any of them. We have to build on this and not let it be a

:38:57. > :38:58.one-off. We can be proud of what we have them but it is what is next and

:38:59. > :39:02.we must push on.
