:00:17. > :00:21.Hi guys, I'm Joel. Welcome back to our penultimate episode of the night

:00:22. > :00:27.in this countdown of Doctor Who's greatest Monsters and Villains, as

:00:28. > :00:30.voted for by you. To be honest, I'm surprised the next monster in this

:00:31. > :00:36.countdown is here in fourth position. Apparently, most people

:00:37. > :00:44.find them quite forgettable. Ah yes, it is of course... The um, the um,

:00:45. > :00:47.what is it? Just kidding. It is, of course, the snappy dressing,

:00:48. > :01:04.big-headed, fat-fingered, the um, I've forgotten it again. The

:01:05. > :01:10.Silence. Who's that? Who's who? Sorry, what? If I'm honest, these

:01:11. > :01:13.are one of the most terrifying looking and creepiest Doctor Who

:01:14. > :01:16.creations in this countdown. Ever since the 11th Doctor first appeared

:01:17. > :01:19.on our screens, The Silence have been teased as something of great

:01:20. > :01:26.importance and intrinsically tied in with the destiny of the Doctor and

:01:27. > :01:32.universe. We ran from The Silence. The Silence will fall. Listen to

:01:33. > :01:38.that. All I can hear is silence. And so in memory of the children lost to

:01:39. > :01:47.The Silence... Absolute silence. The universe is cracked. Silence will

:01:48. > :01:52.fall. Silence, doctor. Whatever it is, it is still out there. Excuse me

:01:53. > :01:56.a moment. Hello? Hey Doctor, it's me, Joel. I'm on BBC Three right now

:01:57. > :02:05.about to explain what I know about them. Tune in. Love you too. Bye.

:02:06. > :02:09.Right, there's not a lot we know about the Silence. Or maybe there is

:02:10. > :02:13.and we have just forgotten it all. But here are the things we know for

:02:14. > :02:17.sure. So stay with me on this. Right. The Silence are a religious

:02:18. > :02:20.order of aliens who, as far as we know, have been on Earth

:02:21. > :02:23.manipulating the course of history since before the wheel. They have

:02:24. > :02:36.three main powers of note. Firstly, they have the power of post-hypnotic

:02:37. > :02:41.suggestion. They planted the idea in your head. You could be doing stuff

:02:42. > :02:45.and not knowing why you are doing. Like post-hop nottic suggestion.

:02:46. > :02:48.Thanks, Rory, that's what I just said. Secondly, they can absorb

:02:49. > :02:52.electricity like a parasite and use it as a weapon. And thirdly, the

:02:53. > :02:57.ability to make themselves instantly forgettable when no longer seen. Big

:02:58. > :02:58.deal, I say. X-Factor winners have been doing that for years. Leon

:02:59. > :03:17.Jackson, I believe in you. All clear. Nothing down there I can

:03:18. > :03:20.see. So, coming up we have the Silence's long awaited first ever

:03:21. > :03:23.appearance, at least that I can remember, after being teased a full

:03:24. > :03:27.14 episodes previously by Prisoner Zero in The 11th Hour". This is part

:03:28. > :03:31.of a double hitter where we see the real story of The Moon landing, the

:03:32. > :03:35.Doctor in a dashing stetson, and the true meaning of silent but violent.

:03:36. > :03:36.This is The Silence in the first of a double bill. This is?The

:03:37. > :03:42.Impossible Astronaut. Doctor who?

:03:43. > :04:19.MUFFLED SNEEZE You know,

:04:20. > :04:23.this isn't nearly as bad it looks. "At the personal intervention of

:04:24. > :04:26.the King, the unnamed doctor "was incarcerated without trial

:04:27. > :04:30.in the Tower Of London." "bearing the mysterious

:04:31. > :04:38.doctor aloft." I think the answer's

:04:39. > :04:51.probably yes. Are you watching this again?

:04:52. > :05:00.I've explained the jokes. DOORBELL RINGS

:05:01. > :05:02.So what are you saying? It's the sort of thing he'd do.

:05:03. > :05:08.Thanks. Yeah, but why?

:05:09. > :05:10.He said he'd be in touch. Two months ago.

:05:11. > :05:13.Two months is nothing. He's up to something,

:05:14. > :05:17.I know he is, I know him. ALARM WAILS

:05:18. > :05:53.You'd better get down here, sir. Says she's going to some

:05:54. > :06:13.planet called...America. Pond One and Pond Two!

:06:14. > :06:31.Hello, Ponds, come here! So someone's been

:06:32. > :06:33.a busy boy then, eh? Hey, nice hat. I wear

:06:34. > :06:45.a Stetson now, Stetsons are cool. Right then, where are we?

:06:46. > :06:56.Have we done Easter Island yet? Yes, I've got Easter Island!

:06:57. > :07:01.They worshipped you there! Have you seen the statues?

:07:02. > :07:04.Jim The Fish. They're syncing their diaries.

:07:05. > :07:17.So what's happening, then? I've been running...

:07:18. > :07:24.faster than I've ever run, And tonight I'm going to

:07:25. > :07:35.need you all with me. Somewhere different,

:07:36. > :07:43.somewhere brand-new. Salut! So when are we going to 1969?

:07:44. > :08:36.And since when do you drink wine? I'm 1,103 -

:08:37. > :08:41.I must have drunk it some time. Oh, wine's horrid! I thought it

:08:42. > :08:45.would taste more like the gums. 1,103? You were 908

:08:46. > :08:49.the last time we saw you. You've put on a couple of pounds.

:08:50. > :08:59.I wasn't going to mention it. Sorry, what? What did you see?

:09:00. > :09:05.You said you saw someone. Of course, you lot did more

:09:06. > :09:12.than look, didn't you? Big silvery thing in the sky,

:09:13. > :09:15.you couldn't resist it. Oh, a lot more happens in '69

:09:16. > :09:24.than anyone remembers. I thought I'd never

:09:25. > :09:47.get done saving you. Whatever happens now,

:09:48. > :10:02.you do not interfere. That's an Apollo astronaut

:10:03. > :10:21.in the lake. Look. GUNSHOT

:10:22. > :10:47.Doctor! River, he can't be dead.

:10:48. > :12:05.This is impossible. Whatever that was, it killed him in

:12:06. > :12:08.the middle of his regeneration cycle. Maybe he's a clone

:12:09. > :12:17.or a duplicate or something. who'd rip this world apart

:12:18. > :12:52.for just one cell. Wake up! Go on, wake up,

:12:53. > :13:04.you stupid bloody idiot! We do what the Doctor's friends

:13:05. > :13:16.always do. If we're going to do this...

:13:17. > :14:06.let's do it properly. You got three, I was two,

:14:07. > :15:02.Mr Delaware was four. Well, he must have. He planned

:15:03. > :15:09.all of this to the last detail. He was up to something. He's dead.

:15:10. > :15:14.Space 1969, what did he mean? You're still talking,

:15:15. > :15:17.but it doesn't matter. Hey, it mattered to him.

:15:18. > :15:19.So it matters to us. Excuse me, who was

:15:20. > :15:40.sitting over there? Some guy. The Doctor knew he was going to

:15:41. > :15:44.his death, so he sent out messages. When you know it's the end,

:15:45. > :15:47.who do you call? Your friends, people you trust.

:15:48. > :15:50.Number one. I just popped out

:15:51. > :16:09.to get my special straw. Of course I'm OK, I'm always OK,

:16:10. > :16:23.I'm the king of OK. Oh, that's a rubbish title,

:16:24. > :16:26.forget that title. Rory the Roman,

:16:27. > :16:30.that's a good title. Hello, Rory! Oh, you bad, bad girl, what trouble

:16:31. > :16:38.have you got for me this time? I'm assuming that's for something

:16:39. > :16:43.I haven't done yet. Yes, it is.

:16:44. > :16:46.Good, looking forward to it. River, what's going on?

:16:47. > :17:01.Amy, ask him what age he is. That's a bit personal.

:17:02. > :17:03.Tell her what age you are. Have we done Jim The Fish yet?

:17:04. > :17:12.Who's Jim The Fish? We've been recruited.

:17:13. > :17:28.Something to do with space, 1969, and a man called

:17:29. > :17:34.Canton Everett Delaware III. Someone who trusts you more than

:17:35. > :17:42.anybody else in the universe. Now then, Canton Everett Delaware

:17:43. > :17:58.III, that was his name, yeah? How many of those can there be?

:17:59. > :18:05.Well, three, I suppose. Rory, is everybody cross with me

:18:06. > :18:08.for some reason? Explain it again. The Doctor we saw

:18:09. > :18:23.on the beach was a future version, 200 years older than

:18:24. > :18:26.the one up there. We're not all going to arrange

:18:27. > :18:34.our own wake and invite ourselves. So the Doctor in the future,

:18:35. > :18:38.knowing he's going to die, recruits his younger self

:18:39. > :18:44.and all of us to...to what exactly? Avenge him? Mm-mm,

:18:45. > :18:47.avenging's not his style. Save him.

:18:48. > :18:50.That's not his style either. We have to tell him.

:18:51. > :18:53.We've told him all we can. We can't even tell him

:18:54. > :18:58.we've seen his future self. He's interacted with his own past.

:18:59. > :19:02.It could rip a hole in the universe. In fairness,

:19:03. > :19:06.the universe did blow up. But he'd want to know.

:19:07. > :19:09.Would he? Would anyone? The Doctor's death doesn't

:19:10. > :19:27.frighten me, nor does my own. There's a far worse

:19:28. > :19:33.day coming for me. Time isn't a straight line,

:19:34. > :19:36.it's all bumpy-wumpy. Washington DC, April 8th, 1969.

:19:37. > :20:01.So why haven't we landed? Because that's not

:20:02. > :20:03.where we're going. Where are we going?

:20:04. > :20:05.Home! Well, you two are. Off you pop and make babies.

:20:06. > :20:08.Dr Song, back to prison. Me, I'm late for a biplane lesson

:20:09. > :20:12.in 1911, or it could be knitting. Knitting or biplanes,

:20:13. > :20:21.one or the other. A mysterious summons?

:20:22. > :20:27.You think I'm just going to go? Don't ever, ever think

:20:28. > :20:37.you're capable of that. You're going to have to trust

:20:38. > :20:40.us this time. Trust you? Sure. But first of all, Dr Song,

:20:41. > :20:44.just one thing... You're someone from my future,

:20:45. > :20:57.getting that, but who? Why are you in prison?

:20:58. > :21:02.Who did you kill? Hmm? You have to do this,

:21:03. > :21:24.and you can't ask why. Are you being threatened?

:21:25. > :21:27.Is someone making you say that? Swear to me. Swear to me

:21:28. > :21:44.on something that matters. My life in your hands,

:21:45. > :22:07.Amelia Pond. Maybe you want to tell that to

:22:08. > :22:21.the President of the United States. I understand you have a problem

:22:22. > :22:28.with authority. Thank you. I need someone on the outside,

:22:29. > :22:42.someone with FBI training, I'm flattered. You were my second

:22:43. > :22:48.choice for this, Mr Delaware. That's OK. You were my second

:22:49. > :23:01.choice for President, Mr Nixon. 'Richard Milhous Nixon.

:23:02. > :23:04.Vietnam, Watergate,' there's some good stuff too.

:23:05. > :23:07.Not enough. I get a phone call. People can't

:23:08. > :23:16.just call you, Mr President. Every day for the last two weeks,

:23:17. > :23:23.usually late at night. OK, since I don't know what

:23:24. > :23:34.I'm getting into, I'm being discreet,

:23:35. > :23:37.putting the engines on silent. Putting the outer shell

:23:38. > :23:46.on invisible. Haven't done this in a while,

:23:47. > :23:49.big drain on the power. Now, I can't check the scanner,

:23:50. > :24:08.it doesn't work when we're cloaked. Whoa, who, whoa, whoa,

:24:09. > :24:14.you lot, wait a moment. 'This is President Nixon.

:24:15. > :24:39.Who's calling? How can you be sure?

:24:40. > :24:56.'What space man? 'Where are you phoning from, where

:24:57. > :25:02.are you right now? Who are you? Surely this is something

:25:03. > :25:12.the Bureau could handle, sir? How do I know the Bureau isn't

:25:13. > :25:31.involved? I can't trust any... Oblong Room. I'll, I'll, I'll, I'll,

:25:32. > :25:51.I'll, just be off then, shall I? No, stop that! He said the scanner

:25:52. > :26:01.wouldn't work. I know. Bless! Not that! Ow! River,

:26:02. > :26:08.have you got my scanner working yet? Oh, I hate him! No, you don't.

:26:09. > :26:12.Get the President out of here! Sir, you have to go with them now!

:26:13. > :26:27.River, make her blue again! Never mind, the answer's yes.

:26:28. > :26:39.I'll take the case! parked a big blue box on the rug.

:26:40. > :26:49.You think you can just shoot me? Very much not in need of getting

:26:50. > :26:56.shot. Look, we've got our hands up. Who the hell are you?

:26:57. > :27:00.Sir, you need to stay back. But who, but who are they?

:27:01. > :27:02.What is that box? I'm your new undercover agent,

:27:03. > :27:08.on loan from Scotland Yard. Boring question. Who's phoning you,

:27:09. > :27:20.that's interesting. Cos Canton Three is right, that

:27:21. > :27:23.was definitely a girl's voice. There's only one place in America

:27:24. > :27:26.she can be phoning from. Where? it's simple enough.

:27:27. > :27:31.I'll explain. How'd you get it in here?

:27:32. > :27:40.I mean, you didn't carry it. Five. Mr President, that man

:27:41. > :27:49.is a clear and present danger. Mr President, that man walked in here

:27:50. > :27:52.with a big blue box and three of his friends

:27:53. > :27:55.and that's the man he walked past. What say we give him five minutes,

:27:56. > :28:02.see if he delivers. Thanks, Canton! a pot of coffee,

:28:03. > :28:29.12 jammy dodgers and a fez. She mentioned a space man. NASA's

:28:30. > :28:42.where the space men live. Also... Space Man?

:28:43. > :28:48.Like the one we saw at the lake. Yeah, no, I'm fine,

:28:49. > :29:24.I'm just...feeling a little sick. Excuse me, is there a

:29:25. > :29:26.toilet, or something? Sorry, ma'am, during this procedure,

:29:27. > :29:29.you must remain here. Shut up and take her

:29:30. > :29:34.to the rest room. Actually,

:29:35. > :30:00.I can usually manage this alone. RATTLING

:30:01. > :30:09.Oh! I saw you before. At the lake...

:30:10. > :30:16.and here. Oh, my God, what is that, is that

:30:17. > :30:38.a mask? Is that a Star Trek thing? Oh, those lights.

:30:39. > :31:15.They never fix them. Look behind you! You didn't have to kill her,

:31:16. > :31:42.she couldn't even remember you! And what he must never know.

:31:43. > :32:18.How do you know about that? You, sir, are a genius.

:32:19. > :33:09.It's a hobby. 'It's here! The Space Man's here.

:33:10. > :33:25.It's gonna get me. 'It's gonna eat me!' There's no

:33:26. > :33:28.time for a SWAT team, let's go! Mr President, tell her help's

:33:29. > :33:30.on the way. Canton, 'Mr President, please help!

:33:31. > :33:43.Please help me!' It's bigger on the inside.

:33:44. > :34:12.You get used to it. Now where would you find three big

:34:13. > :34:15.historical names in a row like that. It's er...

:34:16. > :34:24.Are you taking care of this? Where are we? About five miles

:34:25. > :34:35.from Cape Kennedy Space Centre. Why would a girl be here?

:34:36. > :34:42.I don't know. Lost, maybe. The only place in Florida,

:34:43. > :34:56.probably all of America, We've moved.

:34:57. > :35:13.How, how can we have moved? You haven't even got

:35:14. > :35:16.to space travel yet? I was going to cover it

:35:17. > :35:20.with time travel. Time travel? How long have

:35:21. > :35:29.Scotland Yard had this? Disused. You realise this is

:35:30. > :35:34.almost certainly a trap, of course. What about it? It was cut off. So

:35:35. > :35:40.how did the child phone from here? I don't know,

:35:41. > :36:01.let's find her and ask her. This is from the space programme!

:36:02. > :36:18.Stolen? What, by aliens? Cool aliens?

:36:19. > :36:30.Well, what would you call me? So come on -

:36:31. > :36:45.little girl, let's find her. River...

:36:46. > :36:47.I know what you're thinking. No, you don't. You're thinking if

:36:48. > :36:51.we can find the Space Man in 1969, and neutralise it, then it won't be

:36:52. > :36:55.around in 2011 to kill the Doctor. That's only because

:36:56. > :37:00.I was thinking it too. So let's do it.

:37:01. > :37:03.It doesn't work like that. We came here because of

:37:04. > :37:06.what we saw in the future. If we try and prevent the future

:37:07. > :37:09.from happening, we create a paradox. Time can be rewritten.

:37:10. > :37:12.Not all of it. There's a network of tunnels

:37:13. > :37:32.running under here. Life signs? Those are the worst kind.

:37:33. > :37:37.Be careful. Careful?

:37:38. > :37:40.Tried that once, ever so dull. I think he's talking about

:37:41. > :37:57.the possible alien incursion. Tell me honestly, am I still there?

:37:58. > :38:41.'Fraid not. Just tunnels,

:38:42. > :38:50.nothing down there I can see. Er, give me five minutes,

:38:51. > :38:54.I want to take another look round. I keep thinking I hear things.

:38:55. > :40:07.Interesting! These tunnels are old. How can they be really old

:40:08. > :40:20.and nobody notice them? It's a maintenance hatch.

:40:21. > :40:24.It's locked. It's locked.

:40:25. > :40:36.How's a girl supposed to resist? You and the Doctor...

:40:37. > :40:46.I can kind of picture it. Think about that. Impressionable

:40:47. > :41:18.young girl, and suddenly this man he's clever and mad and wonderful and

:41:19. > :41:27.knows every last thing about her. We're travelling in

:41:28. > :41:41.opposite directions. And the day's coming, when I'll

:41:42. > :42:08.look into that man's eyes... ..and he won't have the faintest

:42:09. > :42:17.idea who I am. KLAXON

:42:18. > :42:57.That's an alarm. These tunnels, they're not just here,

:42:58. > :43:28.they're everywhere. They're running under the surface

:43:29. > :43:32.of the entire planet! So, you were kicked out of the FBI

:43:33. > :43:49.cos you had attitude problems. That's classified.

:43:50. > :44:04.Classified by who? But you work for him.

:44:05. > :44:09.He's my friend. I had something

:44:10. > :44:20.I wanted to tell him, What's wrong?

:44:21. > :44:38.I need to tell you something! It's important.

:44:39. > :44:41.It's really, really important. Is he all right? Just unconscious.

:44:42. > :44:55.Got a proper whack though. Doctor,

:44:56. > :44:58.I need to tell you something. Get down! What are you doing!

:44:59. > :45:55.Saving your life! No! The Doctor we saw on the beach

:45:56. > :47:21.is a future version, 200 years older than

:47:22. > :47:23.the one up there. Canton Everett Delaware the third.

:47:24. > :47:27.Who's he? You didn't have to kill her,

:47:28. > :47:35.she couldn't even remember you! Do you even know why you're doing

:47:36. > :48:49.this, eh? Can you even remember? What the hell's going on?

:48:50. > :48:58.Look behind you. There's nothing behind me!

:48:59. > :49:04.Look! Canton, look! 'All visitors

:49:05. > :49:21.to remain behind the yellow line.' I'd say zero balanced

:49:22. > :51:22.dwarf star alloy. The densest material in the

:51:23. > :51:26.universe. Nothing gets through that. You're building me

:51:27. > :51:33.the perfect prison. What are you waiting for?

:51:34. > :51:53.I'm waiting for you to run. It'll look better if I shot you

:51:54. > :51:56.while you were running. Not the tiniest

:51:57. > :52:24.particle of anything. In here, you are literally cut

:52:25. > :52:33.off from the rest of the universe. So I guess they

:52:34. > :52:35.can't hear us, right? Good work, Canton. Door sealed?

:52:36. > :52:44.You bet. These things could

:52:45. > :52:48.really do with air holes. Isn't it going to look odd that

:52:49. > :52:52.you're staying in here with us? Odd, but not alarming. They know

:52:53. > :52:55.there's no way out of this place. Amy, Rory, open all the

:52:56. > :53:20.doors to the swimming pool. No idea. But the good news is...

:53:21. > :53:38.we've got a secret weapon. No, no, it's not Apollo 11,

:53:39. > :53:45.that would be silly. RADIO: 'In just a few days

:53:46. > :54:34.mankind will set foot on the moon 'Today the President reaffirmed

:54:35. > :54:41.America's commitment...' Ow! So, three months.

:54:42. > :54:54.what have we found out? Every state in America. Ow!

:54:55. > :54:59.Not just America, the entire world. There's a greater

:55:00. > :55:02.concentration here though. Turns out I was wrong.

:55:03. > :55:13.I'm not pregnant. So you've seen them,

:55:14. > :55:20.but you don't remember them. You've seen them too. That

:55:21. > :55:23.night at the warehouse, remember? While you were pretending

:55:24. > :55:25.to hunt us down We still don't know

:55:26. > :55:29.what they look like. It's like they edit themselves

:55:30. > :55:32.out of your memory Only way we'd know if

:55:33. > :55:41.we'd had an encounter. As long as there's been something

:55:42. > :55:51.in the corner of your eye, We are not fighting

:55:52. > :56:06.an alien invasion. Nano recorder. Fuses with the

:56:07. > :56:22.cartilage in your hand. Ow! Then it tunes itself directly to

:56:23. > :56:25.the speech centres in your brain. It'll pick up your voice, no

:56:26. > :56:27.matter what. Telepathic connection. So the moment you see one of

:56:28. > :56:32.the creatures, you activate it. RECORDER: 'And describe aloud

:56:33. > :56:39.exactly what you're seeing.' The light will flash if

:56:40. > :56:44.you've left yourself a message. If you've had an encounter that's

:56:45. > :56:49.the first you'll know about it. Why didn't you tell me this

:56:50. > :56:51.before we started? I did. But even information about these

:56:52. > :56:56.creatures erases itself over time. I couldn't refresh it,

:56:57. > :57:03.cos I couldn't talk to you. What are you staring at?

:57:04. > :57:12.Look at your hand. Why's it doing that? What does

:57:13. > :57:15.it mean if the light's flashing? What did I just tell you?

:57:16. > :57:22.I haven't... Play it. 'Keep eye contact with

:57:23. > :57:28.the creature and when I say, 'turn back, and when you do,

:57:29. > :57:32.straighten my bow tie.' It's a hologram, extrapolated

:57:33. > :57:43.from a photo on Amy's phone. You just saw an image of one

:57:44. > :57:49.of the creatures we're fighting. You straightened my bow tie

:57:50. > :57:59.because I planted the idea in your head while you

:58:00. > :58:01.were looking at the creature. And they take her from somewhere to

:58:02. > :58:19.cause the least amount of attention. But you'll have to find her.

:58:20. > :58:22.I'm off to NASA. Find her? Hello. FBI. You must be Dr Renfrew.

:58:23. > :58:34.Can we come in? The children are asleep.

:58:35. > :58:38.We'll be very quiet. I understood Graystark Hall

:58:39. > :59:26.was closed in '67. It's 1969. No, no. We close in '67.

:59:27. > :59:36.That's the plan, yes. Amy? I think we've found the place

:59:37. > :00:31.she was taken from. How do you know? Cos those things have been here.

:00:32. > :00:33.But the whole place is deserted. There's just one guy here

:00:34. > :00:36.and I think he's lost it. Repeated memory wipes

:00:37. > :00:38.fry your head eventually. Find out what you can, but don't

:00:39. > :00:41.hang around. Where are you? Don't worry. I put everything

:00:42. > :00:47.back the way I found it. there's always a bit

:00:48. > :01:01.left over, isn't there? 'I can see them, but I think they're

:01:02. > :02:14.asleep. Get out! Just get out!' One more time, sir. How the hell

:02:15. > :02:38.did you get into the command module? I told you! I'm on a top

:02:39. > :02:42.secret mission for the President. Well, maybe if you just get President

:02:43. > :02:46.Nixon to assure us of that, sir, Hello, I believe it's Mr Gardner,

:02:47. > :02:58.is that correct? Head of security? The hopes and dreams of millions

:02:59. > :03:07.of Americans stand here today, at Cape Kennedy, and you are

:03:08. > :03:10.the men who guard those dreams. On behalf of the American people,

:03:11. > :03:13.I thank you. Yes, Mr President. What are you

:03:14. > :03:20.hoping for, a boy or a girl? A healthy American

:03:21. > :03:25.will do just nicely. Code name, The Doctor, is doing

:03:26. > :03:31.some work for me, personally. Er, Mr President,

:03:32. > :03:38.he did break into Apollo 11. Well, I'm sure he had

:03:39. > :03:44.a very good reason for that. But I need you to release

:03:45. > :03:46.him now, so he can get on with some very important

:03:47. > :03:49.work for the American people. Then I guess that would be fine,

:03:50. > :03:57.Mr President. This place,

:03:58. > :04:40.it's been closed for years. Hello? I saw you, looking

:04:41. > :06:20.through the hatch... Who are you? I don't understand,

:06:21. > :06:50.so just tell me who you are! Just please tell me,

:06:51. > :07:06.because I don't understand! AMY: Help me!

:07:07. > :08:09.Canton, please will you help me?! We have ruled it since

:08:10. > :08:17.the wheel and the fire. You have to tape everything that

:08:18. > :08:32.happens in this office, every word. A thing. A clever thing.

:08:33. > :08:39.No more questions. You have to trust me

:08:40. > :08:42.and nobody else. 'Please, I can't, I can't see!

:08:43. > :08:58.Somebody help me!' Amy! Amy, I'm going to try to blow the

:08:59. > :09:05.lock. I need you to stand back. OK, gun down, I've got it!

:09:06. > :09:07.Amy, we're here. Are you OK? It's empty.

:09:08. > :09:29.AMY: 'It's dark, it's so dark. It defaults to live.

:09:30. > :10:00.This is current. Wherever she is right now,

:10:01. > :10:02.this is what she's saying. Amy, can you hear me?

:10:03. > :10:05.We're coming for you. Wherever you are,

:10:06. > :10:08.we're coming, I swear. She always knows that I am coming

:10:09. > :10:25.for her, do you understand me? 'Please, please, Doctor,

:10:26. > :10:42.just get me out of this.' He's coming.

:10:43. > :10:45.I'll bring him, I swear. Rory listen to that. Silence?

:10:46. > :11:34.We ran from the Silence? Silence. Hello again.

:11:35. > :11:58.Sir, you've been in there for days. What the hell have you been doing?

:11:59. > :12:01.Doesn't matter. Sir, I need to talk to

:12:02. > :12:05.Colonel Jefferson right now! The target for the

:12:06. > :12:28.Apollo 11 astronauts, the moon, at lift off, will be

:12:29. > :12:34.at a distance of 218,096 miles away. We're just past the

:12:35. > :12:37.two minute mark on the countdown. T minus one minute 54 seconds

:12:38. > :12:42.and counting... It's an exoskeleton.

:12:43. > :12:45.Basically, life support. There's about 20 different

:12:46. > :12:49.kinds of alien tech in here. Put this on, you don't

:12:50. > :12:53.even need to eat. The suit processes

:12:54. > :12:56.sunlight directly. It defaults to the highest

:12:57. > :13:07.authority it can find. The night terrors

:13:08. > :13:16.with a hotline to the White House. You won't learn anything

:13:17. > :13:19.from that envelope, you know. Purchased on Earth, perfectly

:13:20. > :13:23.ordinary stationery, TARDIS blue. Summoned by a stranger

:13:24. > :13:26.who won't even show his face. That's a first for me.

:13:27. > :13:30.How about you? Your future's my past,

:13:31. > :13:35.your firsts are my lasts. Not really what I asked.

:13:36. > :13:37.Ask something else then. The only way to save Amy is to

:13:38. > :13:44.work out what the Silence are doing. I know. Every single thing we learn

:13:45. > :13:47.about them brings us a step closer. Of course, it's possible

:13:48. > :13:52.she's not just any little girl. Well, I'd say she's human,

:13:53. > :13:55.going by the life support software. Like she forced her way out.

:13:56. > :14:02.She must be incredibly strong. Incredibly strong and running away.

:14:03. > :14:05.I like her. Anyway, I have the strangest

:14:06. > :14:12.feeling she's going to find us. 'This is Houston, do you read?

:14:13. > :14:15.Over.' Why does it look like

:14:16. > :14:17.a NASA space suit? Because that's what the Silence do.

:14:18. > :14:20.Think about it. They don't have to. They get

:14:21. > :14:24.other life forms to do it for them. So they're parasites then?

:14:25. > :14:26.Super parasites. Standing in the shadows of human

:14:27. > :14:29.history since the very beginning. We know they can influence

:14:30. > :14:31.human behaviour any way they want. Then why did the human race

:14:32. > :14:40.suddenly decide to go to the moon? 'Ten, nine, ignition sequence

:14:41. > :14:46.start, six, five, four...' Because the Silence

:14:47. > :14:49.needed a space suit. '32 minutes past the hour,

:14:50. > :15:04.lift off on Apollo 11.' Someone's already been treating it.

:15:05. > :15:13.Yeah. Does Colonel Jefferson

:15:14. > :15:18.know this thing is here? No. Then I'm going to tell him

:15:19. > :15:21.right now! Sergeant, why was I called

:15:22. > :15:30.in here for no reason? We have ruled your lives

:15:31. > :15:45.since your lives began. but you will never remember

:15:46. > :15:53.we were even here. This suit, it seems to be repairing

:15:54. > :16:30.itself. How is it doing that? Well, the little girl said the

:16:31. > :16:39.space man was coming to eat her. AMY: 'I love you.

:16:40. > :16:47.I know you think it's him. 'I know you think it ought to be him.

:16:48. > :16:53.But it's not, it's you. 'I'm going tell you properly,

:16:54. > :17:01.just to see your stupid face. 'My life was so boring before you

:17:02. > :17:08.just dropped out of the sky. 'So just get your stupid

:17:09. > :17:10.face where I can see it. I can track that signal back.

:17:11. > :17:28.Take us right to her. Then why haven't you?

:17:29. > :17:31.Because then what? This isn't an alien invasion.

:17:32. > :17:35.They live here. This is kicking the Romans out

:17:36. > :17:43.of Rome. Rome fell. Not the sort of

:17:44. > :18:21.thing anyone forgets. But I don't remember

:18:22. > :18:25.it all the time. I can keep it shut.

:18:26. > :18:35.AMY: 'Please come and get me. 'Come and get me.'

:18:36. > :18:43.AMY SOBS Just five days since Apollo 11

:18:44. > :18:48.blasted off from Cape Kennedy, this unprecedented journey is

:18:49. > :18:52.reaching its crucial moment. On the ground, you've got

:18:53. > :19:12.a bunch of guys about to turn blue. You're ugly,

:19:13. > :19:27.has anyone mentioned that to you? Whatever that means, you've made

:19:28. > :19:39.a big mistake bringing me here, because wait till you see

:19:40. > :19:42.what's coming for you now. No. I just got here.

:19:43. > :19:49.You just put me in here. Very Aickman Road,

:19:50. > :20:19.seen one of these before. Oh, hello, sorry.

:20:20. > :20:29.You're in the middle of something. Just had to say though,

:20:30. > :20:32.have you seen what's on the telly? Hello, Amy, you all right?

:20:33. > :20:34.Want to watch some television? but she'll definitely kill at

:20:35. > :20:56.least the first three of you. The first seven, easily.

:20:57. > :20:57.Seven, really? Make me! Yeah, well, maybe I will.

:20:58. > :21:03.Is this really important flirting? I feel like I should be higher on

:21:04. > :21:06.the list right now. Sorry. So maybe you want to draw lots,

:21:07. > :21:13.or have a quiz. What's he got? Something, I hope. Or maybe

:21:14. > :21:16.you could just listen a minute, You've been interfering in human

:21:17. > :21:24.history for thousands of years. People have suffered and died.

:21:25. > :21:28.But what's the point in two hearts if you can't be a bit forgiving

:21:29. > :21:30.now and then? You guys take that seriously, don't

:21:31. > :21:37.you? OK, you got me, I'm lying. Now, come on,

:21:38. > :21:57.a bit of history for you. Aren't you proud,

:21:58. > :22:00.because you helped? Do you know how many people

:22:01. > :22:04.are watching this live on the telly? Billions and billions of them,

:22:05. > :22:12.for billions and billions of years. And every single one of them,

:22:13. > :22:15.at some point in their lives, will look back at this man,

:22:16. > :22:18.taking that very first step, You've given the order for

:22:19. > :23:05.your own execution, and the whole planet

:23:06. > :23:08.just heard you. And one whacking great kick up

:23:09. > :23:19.the backside for the Silence! You just raised an

:23:20. > :23:21.army against yourself. you're going to be ordering

:23:22. > :23:28.them to destroy you every day. Because today's the day the human

:23:29. > :23:33.race throw you off their planet. They won't even know

:23:34. > :23:35.they're doing it. I think, quite possibly the word

:23:36. > :23:38.you're looking for right now is, Go, just go!

:23:39. > :23:53.We are not leaving without you! Will you just get your

:23:54. > :23:59.stupid face out of here?! Helping. You've got a screwdriver.

:24:00. > :24:28.Go build a cabinet! That's really rude!

:24:29. > :24:55.Shut up and drive! My old fella didn't

:24:56. > :24:57.see that, did he? So, what kind of doctor are you?

:24:58. > :25:09.Archaeology. Or we could go where

:25:10. > :25:20.we're supposed to. What's the matter with you?

:25:21. > :25:23.You called me stupid. I wasn't sure who you

:25:24. > :25:41.were talking about. Well, you did say,

:25:42. > :25:46."Dropped out of the sky." So we're safe again.

:25:47. > :26:06.Safe? No, of course you're not safe. Looking forward to it.

:26:07. > :26:22.Canton just wants to get married. Helluva reason to kick

:26:23. > :26:24.him out of the FBI. Hardly seems possible,

:26:25. > :26:39.but I was wondering... Should warn you.

:26:40. > :26:41.I don't answer a lot of questions. But I'm a President

:26:42. > :26:46.at the beginning of his time. Say hi to David Frost for me.

:26:47. > :27:04.David Frost? I know what people think of me, but

:27:05. > :27:14.perhaps I am a little more liberal. I think the moon is far enough

:27:15. > :27:23.for now, don't you, Mr Delaware? You're acting like we've

:27:24. > :28:19.never done that before. We haven't?

:28:20. > :28:25.Oh, look at the time, must be off. Rory, I'm going to

:28:26. > :28:47.need thermo couplings. There's lots of stuff

:28:48. > :29:08.I can't quite remember. After effect of the Silence.

:29:09. > :29:13.Natural enough. I travelled with you in

:29:14. > :29:49.this TARDIS for so long. If I was pregnant for some of it,

:29:50. > :29:55.wouldn't it have had an effect? I don't want to tell Rory, this baby

:29:56. > :29:58.might have three heads, What's a time head?

:29:59. > :30:04.I don't know, but what if it had one? Taking that away from you, if you're

:30:05. > :30:22.going to listen in all the time. But you should've told me that

:30:23. > :30:27.you thought you were pregnant. I'm a nurse,

:30:28. > :30:29.I'm good with pregnancy. Er, no. Never. I'm never,

:30:30. > :30:37.ever going to stop being stupid! So, this little girl, it's all about

:30:38. > :30:41.her. Who was she? Or we could just go off

:30:42. > :30:44.and have some adventures. Anyone in the mood for adventures?

:30:45. > :31:22.I am. You only live once. Yo, ho-ho! Our sensors picked

:31:23. > :32:15.you up, ship in distress. It's dangerous here.

:32:16. > :32:18.There is a monster aboard. She leaves a mark on men's skin.

:32:19. > :32:21.Doctor, what's happening to me? Saving your life.

:32:22. > :32:31.OK with that, are you? There's a stroppy, homicidal

:32:32. > :32:35.mermaid trying to kill all.
