:00:43. > :00:45.Seriously. The monsters that are responsible for a whole generation

:00:46. > :00:48.of children, and indeed adults, being terrified of statues and

:00:49. > :00:51.developing dry eyeballs from a lack of blinking. Your second placed

:00:52. > :01:00.greatest monster and villain is of course? The Weeping Angels. They are

:01:01. > :01:04.coming. The angels are coming for you. But listen, don't blink, don't

:01:05. > :01:08.even blink. Blink and you are dead. They are faster than you could

:01:09. > :01:20.believe. Don't turn your back, don't look away and don't blink. The shear

:01:21. > :01:22.simplicity of their menace is what makes them so terrifying. Based on

:01:23. > :01:26.the children's game, Grandmas Footsteps - which basically trains

:01:27. > :01:29.kids to sneak up on the elderly. The idea that an everyday object that we

:01:30. > :01:32.take for granted like a statue, could actually be a deadly alien

:01:33. > :01:36.assassin, poised for attack. And much like someone who picks their

:01:37. > :01:44.nose in public, they will only do this when they think they aren't

:01:45. > :01:48.being watched. That's a cut guys. So now we have a reason for disliking

:01:49. > :01:51.those creepy performers in the town centre. It is believed that the

:01:52. > :01:57.Weeping Angels have been around since the start of the universe,

:01:58. > :02:01.along with dark matter and Brucie. They are an alien species that feed

:02:02. > :02:04.off the energy produced from sending people back through time and space.

:02:05. > :02:11.Which they do by simply touching you. The only way to ensure they

:02:12. > :02:15.don't get you, is to look at them. This puts them in a quantum locked

:02:16. > :02:19.state. Which is a science wiencey way of saying they turn to stone.

:02:20. > :02:24.That's why they cover their eyes. They are not weeping. They can't

:02:25. > :02:31.risk looking at each other. Their greatest asset is their greatest

:02:32. > :02:34.curse. And as if all this wasn't terrifying enough, even being in the

:02:35. > :02:38.presence of an Angel's image, be that a photo or on a tv screen,

:02:39. > :02:42.means they can manifest and still get you. As they say, "That which

:02:43. > :02:45.takes the image of an Angel, becomes itself an Angel." Coming in this

:02:46. > :02:48.next episode we see the Angels for the very first time when they

:02:49. > :02:51.terrorise, a yet to be really famous, Carey Mulligan. What does

:02:52. > :03:07.that mean? An image of an angel becomes itself an angel. For force
