0:01:29 > 0:01:32- We lived upstairs - and slept downstairs.

0:01:32 > 0:01:36- My friends thought that was wowee!

0:03:34 > 0:03:37- We walked to school, of course.

0:03:37 > 0:03:39- We used to walk downhill.

0:03:41 > 0:03:45- We used to cross this field.

0:03:45 > 0:03:49- It's a field - that is badly affected by floods.

0:03:49 > 0:03:52- So we often had to go around it - in winter.

0:03:52 > 0:03:55- We'd walk hand in hand with Dad...

0:03:55 > 0:03:58- ..through the field, - over the bridge...

0:04:01 > 0:04:03- ..to the school.

0:04:03 > 0:04:05- That was our simple life.

0:04:10 > 0:04:13- I'd say that my happiest memories...

0:04:14 > 0:04:17- ..are based around this school.

0:04:18 > 0:04:22- It was a small school - of about 27 children, I think.

0:04:27 > 0:04:29- There were only four in my year.

0:04:42 > 0:04:45- ..and that we'd have to leave here.

0:04:45 > 0:04:50- I knew I'd have to leave - this strong little unit.

0:04:51 > 0:04:56- I remember running from this room, - or from the hall, I think...

0:04:56 > 0:05:00- ..to the toilet - that was around the corner.

0:05:00 > 0:05:04- I locked myself in - for about half an hour.

0:05:04 > 0:05:07- I couldn't leave - I was crying so much.

0:05:08 > 0:05:13- That heartbreak is still so real - in my mind.

0:05:13 > 0:05:18- Coming back here, - the place is so small.

0:05:25 > 0:05:28- It was a hive of activity.

0:05:28 > 0:05:31- There was so much going on.

0:05:33 > 0:05:35- It was very sociable.

0:05:35 > 0:05:38- Considering the very small number - of children here...

0:05:39 > 0:05:42- ..what happened in the school - is incredible.

0:05:52 > 0:05:56- I was quite a shy and serious child.

0:06:11 > 0:06:12- My sister was the nightmare.

0:06:21 > 0:06:24- Dolwyeddelan Castle - is very close to my heart.

0:06:25 > 0:06:27- This is where we used to come - as children.

0:06:28 > 0:06:31- What a place - to have as a playground.

0:06:33 > 0:06:39- There's an old legend about an old - cauldron buried under the castle.

0:06:40 > 0:06:44- When we were children, we'd look - for the cauldron at weekends!

0:06:45 > 0:06:50- We really believed that we were - going to find this cauldron...

0:06:50 > 0:06:51- ..eventually.

0:06:56 > 0:07:00- As Dolwyddelan Castle - is one of the few Welsh castles...

0:07:02 > 0:07:06- We took full advantage - as children.

0:07:08 > 0:07:11- Eifiona, my friend, - had a horse called Pwtyn.

0:07:11 > 0:07:16- Without a saddle or anything, they - were plonked on the back of Pwtyn...

0:07:16 > 0:07:19- ..and took them around the farm - for 10p.

0:07:19 > 0:07:24- We'd then go straight down to the - shop to buy sweets and ice cream.

0:07:29 > 0:07:33- It's obvious how gorgeous - and lovely the place is.

0:07:34 > 0:07:38- Of course, you want to live - in a beautiful place.

0:08:02 > 0:08:06- They're simple, wonderful, - lovely people.

0:08:08 > 0:08:12- This place - is most definitely a part of me.

0:09:07 > 0:09:10- ..when choosing - where to go to university...

0:09:15 > 0:09:18- I decided to study Welsh and Drama.

0:09:22 > 0:09:27- This part of the Menai - really brings me joy...

0:10:01 > 0:10:04- I'm not sure what the real name - of this place is...

0:10:04 > 0:10:08- ..but I've always called it - the fairies' circle.

0:10:14 > 0:10:16- ..doing what children do.

0:10:20 > 0:10:23- Lots of talking and gossiping...

0:10:23 > 0:10:24- ..and growing up.

0:10:28 > 0:10:33- After leaving the fairies' circle, - you turn left along the Menai...

0:10:33 > 0:10:38- ..and then go along the path that - takes you along the Belgian Prom...

0:10:38 > 0:10:41- ..before turning - to go over the stone bridge...

0:10:42 > 0:10:45- ..towards Llantysilio island.

0:11:27 > 0:11:30- As students at Bangor University...

0:11:30 > 0:11:34- ..we'd go over Menai Bridge...

0:12:35 > 0:12:37- I'm not religious at all...

0:13:04 > 0:13:05- It's quite a special place.

0:13:12 > 0:13:12- .

0:15:54 > 0:16:00- ..that's eight hours a week, almost, - of being on my own.

0:16:33 > 0:16:38- # Up and down, up and down

0:16:47 > 0:16:53- One part of the journey that - takes my breath away every time...

0:16:53 > 0:16:55- ..is Bwlch yr Oerddrws.

0:16:55 > 0:16:59- It doesn't matter if I'm travelling - from north to south...

0:16:59 > 0:17:04- ..or from south to north, Bwlch yr - Oerddrws has something to offer.

0:17:04 > 0:17:06- If I'm going from south to north...

0:17:06 > 0:17:10- ..you can't beat the car chugging - just as it gets to the top...

0:17:11 > 0:17:14- ..and then it feels like - it deserves something at the end.

0:17:15 > 0:17:18- What it gets is - as you come over that ridge...

0:17:19 > 0:17:23- ..you see the expanse of Cader Idris - and the other mountains.

0:17:24 > 0:17:29- If you go from north to south, - seeing that and leaving it behind...

0:17:29 > 0:17:33- ..just before you go downhill...

0:17:33 > 0:17:37- ..you know that one of the best - stretches on the A470...

0:17:37 > 0:17:38- ..is coming up.

0:17:40 > 0:17:44- # Up and down, up and down

0:17:47 > 0:17:52- # In the air, on the ground #

0:17:53 > 0:17:55- I use the car very often...

0:17:55 > 0:17:57- ..if I have something to learn.

0:17:58 > 0:18:02- I'll turn into a layby - or I'll park in a park...

0:18:02 > 0:18:07- ..because in the house, - I'll find something else to do.

0:18:07 > 0:18:11- I feel that the car - restricts me to one place.

0:18:11 > 0:18:15- But you don't feel lonely - if you're parked somewhere.

0:18:16 > 0:18:21- You still see the world - going on around you...

0:18:21 > 0:18:23- ..yet you don't have to talk - to anyone.

0:18:24 > 0:18:28- I'd say that most of my lines - over the years...

0:18:28 > 0:18:30- ..have been learnt in the car.

0:18:35 > 0:18:36- "I have suckled a baby...

0:18:36 > 0:18:40- "..and I know how sweet it - is to love the baby at my breast."

0:18:40 > 0:18:45- After leaving university, I made a - living as a presenter to begin with.

0:18:45 > 0:18:48- In time, - the acting bug caught me again.

0:18:48 > 0:18:51- I've had great parts over the years.

0:18:51 > 0:18:55- The ones that come to mind - are Llinos in Amdani...

0:18:55 > 0:19:00- ..Theatr Genedlaethol's Siwan - and Anweledig's one-woman show.

0:19:00 > 0:19:03- Also, the part of Alwena - in Rownd a Rownd...

0:19:04 > 0:19:07- ..and more recently, - Rhiannon in Byw Celwydd.

0:19:07 > 0:19:09- Unfortunately, as I get older...

0:19:09 > 0:19:12- ..my nervousness - is actually getting worse.

0:19:14 > 0:19:18- I suffer a lot with nerves.

0:19:19 > 0:19:21- Not just on stage, any more.

0:19:22 > 0:19:26- I suffer with nerves - when doing television work too.

0:19:26 > 0:19:31- I didn't suffer from that at all - when I was younger.

0:19:41 > 0:19:44- For years, I had a superstition...

0:19:44 > 0:19:47- ..of waving at a plastic chef...

0:19:47 > 0:19:52- ..that was outside a cafe - near Bryncir.

0:19:52 > 0:19:54- I did it for years.

0:19:54 > 0:19:56- If I didn't wave - at the little chef...

0:19:57 > 0:20:00- ..I thought - that something bad would happen.

0:20:00 > 0:20:03- That was - until I passed the cafe one day...

0:20:03 > 0:20:07- ..and someone - had stolen the little chef.

0:20:07 > 0:20:09- It was made of plastic.

0:20:10 > 0:20:15- Because that happened, I decided - I had to find something...

0:20:15 > 0:20:19- ..that would never move - and no-one would be able to steal.

0:20:19 > 0:20:25- So I've chosen - a statue in Mid Wales...

0:20:25 > 0:20:30- ..I know that even a nuclear bomb...
