0:01:49 > 0:01:52- I then went on - to Ysgol Uwchradd Tregaron.

0:01:52 > 0:01:55- I enjoyed every minute - and made great friends.

0:01:55 > 0:02:00- I wasn't going to go to university. - I'd planned on coming home to farm.

0:02:00 > 0:02:06- But CJD became a big problem - in the industry.

0:02:11 > 0:02:15- Mam and Dad said I should stay on - until the sixth form...

0:02:15 > 0:02:18- ..after which things might improve.

0:02:18 > 0:02:22- So I was going to come home to farm - after the sixth form...

0:02:22 > 0:02:26- ..but then came foot-and-mouth - disease, which was very bad.

0:02:28 > 0:02:32- It reached Rhayader, - just 20 miles away.

0:02:32 > 0:02:37- We were worried it would reach here - since we're only over the mountain.

0:02:37 > 0:02:40- I came home one day - on the school bus...

0:02:40 > 0:02:44- ..and Mam and Dad had put carpet - with disinfectant on the road...

0:02:44 > 0:02:49- ..and a sign telling the postman to - leave post at the end of the road.

0:02:49 > 0:02:52- That's when I realized - it was a serious situation.

0:02:53 > 0:02:57- Mam and Dad said, "We don't know - what'll happen. Go to university."

0:02:57 > 0:03:01- So I went to Trinity College to - study Theatre, Music and the Media.

0:03:02 > 0:03:05- After that, I returned to the farm, - did a variety of jobs...

0:03:05 > 0:03:08- ..and been lucky enough - to do what I do now.

0:03:10 > 0:03:14- There was never any pressure on me - to come back to farm.

0:03:14 > 0:03:19- My first job in television - was a six-month contract in Cardiff.

0:03:20 > 0:03:24- I wasn't sure what do to - move to - Cardiff or not just before lambing.

0:03:25 > 0:03:27- Mam and Dad told me to go for it...

0:03:27 > 0:03:31- ..and that they'd cope - with the lambing for one year.

0:03:31 > 0:03:34- I'll never forget the fact - they gave me the opportunity.

0:03:35 > 0:03:37- I phoned the production company...

0:03:37 > 0:03:40- ..to ask for a week or two off - during lambing...

0:03:40 > 0:03:44- ..and they said, "Yes, no problem," - while laughing.

0:03:44 > 0:03:50- I then asked if I could have a week - off in June and a week off in July.

0:03:50 > 0:03:52- The woman asked why.

0:03:52 > 0:03:55- I replied, "Shearing in June - and silage in July."

0:04:03 > 0:04:06- This is Ty'n Rhos, - where I was born and raised.

0:04:07 > 0:04:10- It's a field's width - from Rhos y Rhiw where I live.

0:04:10 > 0:04:14- It's quite small - compared to other farms nowadays.

0:04:14 > 0:04:17- We have sheep and beef cattle.

0:04:17 > 0:04:21- We don't have dairy cattle - - we're too high up.

0:04:22 > 0:04:27- The farm suits us - and our way of life.

0:04:28 > 0:04:31- I enjoy a lot of things - about farming.

0:04:31 > 0:04:33- I love seeing stock coming along.

0:04:33 > 0:04:36- The way the lambs thrive - during the summer...

0:04:37 > 0:04:41- ..how they develop from the time of - docking to the time of shearing...

0:04:41 > 0:04:44- ..and when they're ready - to be weaned.

0:04:44 > 0:04:47- I just like to see nature at work.

0:04:47 > 0:04:52- It's interesting how sheep come - full circle, wanting a ram again...

0:04:52 > 0:04:55- ..and the cycle of life - starting again in spring.

0:05:11 > 0:05:13- I learnt how to sheer - when I was around 14.

0:05:16 > 0:05:20- ..and then I went on a course - at a nearby farm to learn properly.

0:05:20 > 0:05:23- It's hard to learn how to shear - from your parents...

0:05:23 > 0:05:26- ..as it's a bit like - learning to drive.

0:05:26 > 0:05:30- You don't really listen, you want - to do what you think is right.

0:05:30 > 0:05:34- Going to somebody you don't know - to learn makes you listen more.

0:05:34 > 0:05:39- When you're 14 or 15, you tend to be - stubborn and want to do it your way.

0:05:41 > 0:05:45- I love shearing. It's a complete - switch off from anything else.

0:05:46 > 0:05:49- You can just focus on what you're - doing. It's good exercise too.

0:05:50 > 0:05:52- I've been shearing for years.

0:05:54 > 0:05:59- ..and with a local gang - when the call comes...

0:06:05 > 0:06:08- The biggest challenge - for farms this size...

0:06:11 > 0:06:16- ..especially if there are children - who want to farm.

0:06:16 > 0:06:19- The only way to do it - is to try and buy more land.

0:06:19 > 0:06:22- Land is very expensive - in this area.

0:06:54 > 0:06:59- Rhos y Rhiw is where Gwawr and I - have lived since 2014.

0:07:04 > 0:07:08- She's a bundle of joy. She's a - character and she changes every day.

0:07:09 > 0:07:11- She's filled the house - and our lives.

0:07:16 > 0:07:19- I'm very happy that Heti's - being raised on this farm.

0:07:20 > 0:07:23- This is my home - and this is now her home.

0:07:24 > 0:07:26- I love it here. - It's a special place to me.

0:08:46 > 0:08:50- He came out of the house one day - and said, "When you're old enough...

0:08:55 > 0:08:58- There are lots of clubs in the area, - good ones too.

0:08:58 > 0:09:03- But Bont is the closest in distance - and the club closest to my heart.

0:09:09 > 0:09:13- Though I moved down to Cardiff - for almost three years...

0:09:13 > 0:09:16- ..I still came back - to play for Bont every weekend.

0:09:17 > 0:09:21- People in Cardiff thought I was mad. - "You're going home again?!"

0:09:21 > 0:09:25- I couldn't explain why I went back - every weekend and I still can't.

0:09:26 > 0:09:28- Maybe it's because - it's a family club.

0:09:29 > 0:09:34- You want to play for the club - because it has so much history.

0:09:36 > 0:09:39- ..you want it to succeed - and to be a part of its history.

0:09:43 > 0:09:47- Brython Wilson played - in midfield then. He was a hard man.

0:09:49 > 0:09:53- I pulled out of one tackle - and Brython gave me a mouthful...

0:11:24 > 0:11:28- We play against teams like - Llanilar, Tregaron and Talybont.

0:18:25 > 0:18:30- I then decided to write about Nan - coming to the Royal Welsh Show...

0:19:13 > 0:19:18- Even though it was for charity, - I've still sheared on that stage.

0:21:40 > 0:21:45- It's not a popular breed - but it is becoming more fashionable.
