0:00:05 > 0:00:08We've got a very special show for you today.

0:00:08 > 0:00:11In fact, a heroic show.

0:00:11 > 0:00:15We've got two teams of British athletes waiting here in the wings

0:00:15 > 0:00:17at the Lincolnshire Showground,

0:00:17 > 0:00:22who are going to perform in a way that they've never performed before.

0:00:22 > 0:00:29In fact, it's going to be less Team GB, more Team BH.

0:00:29 > 0:00:36So, competing for charity today, let's go bargain hunting, yeah!

0:01:02 > 0:01:06After record-breaking medal hauls

0:01:06 > 0:01:11at both the Olympics and Paralympics in London 2012,

0:01:11 > 0:01:15we're going to set a very different challenge

0:01:15 > 0:01:18to four athletes from Team GB.

0:01:18 > 0:01:21It's going to be a challenge, Bargain Hunt-style,

0:01:21 > 0:01:24but what a quartet they are!

0:01:25 > 0:01:29'On the Red team today is gold medal-winning rower Helen Glover

0:01:29 > 0:01:33'and silver medallist in the modern pentathlon, Samantha Murray.

0:01:33 > 0:01:38'For the Blues, Paralympic dressage champion Lee Pearson

0:01:38 > 0:01:42'won three medals at London 2012, whilst Lutalo Muhammad won bronze

0:01:42 > 0:01:44'in the martial arts sport of Tae kwon do.

0:01:45 > 0:01:49'All champions in their own right, but who will triumph today?

0:01:49 > 0:01:50'Let's meet the teams.'

0:01:52 > 0:01:57And here they are! Helen, Samantha, Lee and Lutalo. Welcome, guys!

0:01:57 > 0:02:00- Lovely to see you. Hello. - ALL: Hello.

0:02:00 > 0:02:04These fellas have a larger collection of precious metals

0:02:04 > 0:02:06than we normally find on the show.

0:02:06 > 0:02:11Now, Helen, you didn't, remarkably, put a foot in a rowing boat

0:02:11 > 0:02:13until under four years ago.

0:02:13 > 0:02:15- Is that right? - Yeah, 2008 I started rowing,

0:02:15 > 0:02:17so it's been a bit of a whirlwind four years.

0:02:17 > 0:02:20But the truth of the matter is you were pretty athletic.

0:02:20 > 0:02:23You've been athletic for years, haven't you?

0:02:23 > 0:02:25Yeah, from when I was tiny, I wanted to go to the Olympics.

0:02:25 > 0:02:28I ran some international cross country when I was 15,

0:02:28 > 0:02:31and I played for hockey teams and so, with the other attributes

0:02:31 > 0:02:33I had from my other sports, took that into rowing

0:02:33 > 0:02:35and managed to get a gold medal.

0:02:35 > 0:02:36You're remarkably modest about it,

0:02:36 > 0:02:40but that's a heck of a lot of work, too, and a brilliant result...

0:02:40 > 0:02:42- Yeah, thanks.- ..which is wonderful.

0:02:42 > 0:02:46Samantha, you had to wait a heck of a long time for your event.

0:02:46 > 0:02:48Yeah, I competed on the last day of the Olympic Games,

0:02:48 > 0:02:52so it was really tedious and really hard not to get too excited

0:02:52 > 0:02:55and involved in all the things that were going on in the Village.

0:02:55 > 0:02:56But it was worth the wait.

0:02:56 > 0:02:59But it's not just sport that keeps you occupied, is it?

0:02:59 > 0:03:01No, I study a degree. I study French and Politics.

0:03:01 > 0:03:05- And how's your French coming along? - Tres bien, merci.- Oh, oui, oui.

0:03:05 > 0:03:07- If in doubt, say "D'accord," I find.- Oui, d'accord.

0:03:07 > 0:03:11You're going to do terribly well today on Bargain Hunt.

0:03:11 > 0:03:13- Aren't they great, these girls? - Brilliant.- Yes.

0:03:13 > 0:03:17Now, Lee, you've got so many medals that you're so weighed down

0:03:17 > 0:03:20with all these medals that you forgot to bring them.

0:03:20 > 0:03:22LAUGHTER Just too heavy.

0:03:22 > 0:03:24What's the tally currently, Lee?

0:03:24 > 0:03:28Well, with European and World and Paralympic, it's 31 medals,

0:03:28 > 0:03:3030 of those gold, I think.

0:03:30 > 0:03:33- TIM TUTS - Just ridiculous, isn't it?

0:03:33 > 0:03:36What about the honorary doctorate from Stafford?

0:03:36 > 0:03:39Yeah, that's quite frightening, cos if I'm ever on a plane

0:03:39 > 0:03:42and somebody says, "Is there a doctor on the plane?"

0:03:42 > 0:03:44I can say, "Yes, but you can only have a dressage lesson."

0:03:44 > 0:03:46- Which is dead handy. - Can't save your life.

0:03:46 > 0:03:49- Dead handy on a plane, isn't it(?) - Yeah.- Super.

0:03:49 > 0:03:52Now, Lutalo, you had to lose a bit of weight

0:03:52 > 0:03:55before you could qualify for the Olympics, is that right?

0:03:55 > 0:03:58Yes, I had to be under 80kg for the Olympics,

0:03:58 > 0:04:00so it was a lot of dieting,

0:04:00 > 0:04:03- but I've been making up for it ever since.- Have you?- Yes.

0:04:03 > 0:04:04You mean you've put a bit on?

0:04:04 > 0:04:08Yes, this medal's not the only thing weighing me down now!

0:04:08 > 0:04:11You've got your dad to thank for all this Olympic success?

0:04:11 > 0:04:14Yes, ever since I was about three years old, he was teaching me.

0:04:14 > 0:04:17I have vague memories of kicking the sofas and things around the house,

0:04:17 > 0:04:21much to my mum's dismay, but I have everything to thank him for.

0:04:21 > 0:04:25And do you find that Bargain Hunt gives you that kind of dedication

0:04:25 > 0:04:28- and focus that you need to succeed in the Olympics?- Absolutely(!)

0:04:28 > 0:04:31I mean, I intend to win.

0:04:31 > 0:04:34We're really going to beat the Red team, aren't we?

0:04:34 > 0:04:36- Yeah, we're slightly competitive. - Slightly competitive.

0:04:36 > 0:04:39I mean, we've never had four more competitive people

0:04:39 > 0:04:41on this programme!

0:04:41 > 0:04:46Which leads me to the money moment. Here is your cash. £300 apiece.

0:04:46 > 0:04:50You know the rules. Your experts await - and off you go!

0:04:50 > 0:04:51And very, very good luck.

0:04:53 > 0:04:56Our experts today are very excited about our special guests.

0:04:56 > 0:04:59For the Reds, a man who's so thrilled

0:04:59 > 0:05:02that he's decided to get his do done. It's David Harper.

0:05:02 > 0:05:04For the Blues, she'll follow any clue

0:05:04 > 0:05:07in the hunt for those money-making items.

0:05:07 > 0:05:09It's Kate Bliss.

0:05:10 > 0:05:12Well, this is all very exciting, isn't it?

0:05:12 > 0:05:13Two Olympians, this is fantastic!

0:05:13 > 0:05:16I know you are incredibly competitive,

0:05:16 > 0:05:19but when it comes to antiques, have you got a clue?

0:05:19 > 0:05:23- Do you know what you're looking for today?- No.- No.

0:05:23 > 0:05:2660 minutes starts now! Go, run!

0:05:26 > 0:05:28Let the games begin!

0:05:34 > 0:05:36We could get you into dressage!

0:05:38 > 0:05:41Yes, and it adds some much-needed height, Lutalo(!)

0:05:46 > 0:05:48- That looks quite interesting, that thing.- What is it?

0:05:48 > 0:05:50Looks like a holder of something.

0:05:50 > 0:05:54I'll tell you what I like is that RAF enamel piece.

0:05:54 > 0:05:55Can we have a look?

0:05:55 > 0:05:57As someone mentioned to me this morning,

0:05:57 > 0:05:59it's probably 1940s red lipstick colour.

0:05:59 > 0:06:02- It probably is. - Wow, like Marilyn Monroe.

0:06:02 > 0:06:05Absolutely, from the Second World War.

0:06:05 > 0:06:06My gosh, that is SO posh.

0:06:06 > 0:06:09Because this is enamel. Is it lots of money or not?

0:06:09 > 0:06:12Er, well it's probably not too expensive. It's 75.

0:06:12 > 0:06:17Is it silver or not? No, it's just metal, but with the RAF emblem.

0:06:17 > 0:06:21- Yeah. You two are not getting excited over this.- No, I like it.

0:06:21 > 0:06:23Yeah, it's nice, it's nice.

0:06:23 > 0:06:26You can just imagine, in the 1940s, can't you,

0:06:26 > 0:06:29this being given by an RAF officer to his wife or girlfriend.

0:06:29 > 0:06:31It's quite romantic, isn't it?

0:06:31 > 0:06:33- Are you quite romantic, you two, at heart?- Erm...

0:06:33 > 0:06:36- Not massively.- Is there no room for romance in Team GB?!

0:06:36 > 0:06:41It's all about the winning, is that it?! Stuff 'em! Yeah!

0:06:41 > 0:06:44OK, well I think that's got an awful lot going for it.

0:06:44 > 0:06:46The colours are brilliant. Helen, what do you feel?

0:06:46 > 0:06:51- I'm happy to go with what you think for that.- Yeah, pass the buck, yeah.

0:06:51 > 0:06:54- If it all goes wrong. - I think it's a good thing to buy.

0:06:54 > 0:06:55I think maybe if we...

0:06:55 > 0:06:57- Get the medals out...- What's this?

0:06:57 > 0:07:00Are the Red team introducing tactics into their game?

0:07:00 > 0:07:02- You're ruining the surprise. - Oh, sorry!

0:07:02 > 0:07:04I don't know what she's talking about!

0:07:04 > 0:07:06- Right, let's go. - Are you going to... OK.

0:07:06 > 0:07:10We really like your item and we'd love to take it to auction

0:07:10 > 0:07:14- and we're also Olympic medallists. - I know.- You must recognise them.

0:07:14 > 0:07:17- Do you want to get yours out? - Time to pull out the big guns.

0:07:17 > 0:07:21We're hoping that you'd be really generous and, £40, really.

0:07:21 > 0:07:24You said you were going to start at 35, what's wrong with you?

0:07:24 > 0:07:27- I think he'll let me take it for 40. - Yeah, absolutely.- Oh, yeah!

0:07:27 > 0:07:29- Oh, marvellous. - Thank you so much.

0:07:29 > 0:07:32One down. And you're doing ever so well, so let's continue.

0:07:32 > 0:07:34What a sporting stallholder!

0:07:34 > 0:07:37And the Red team have completed their first lap.

0:07:37 > 0:07:40Back with the Blues, Lee's spotted something

0:07:40 > 0:07:41that's very much from his field.

0:07:41 > 0:07:45- So what have you found, Lee?- I think there's a whip there or an old crop.

0:07:45 > 0:07:48- Yeah. I like that.- Do you? - OK, so... Yeah, I do.

0:07:48 > 0:07:50So what we've got here is bamboo,

0:07:50 > 0:07:53and it's got some sort of lacquer on it, as well,

0:07:53 > 0:07:55with the leather whip at the end,

0:07:55 > 0:07:59and I really like this, because you've got a handle...

0:07:59 > 0:08:02- Made out of... - ..made out of horn or bone,

0:08:02 > 0:08:05and you've got a lovely little silver mount here.

0:08:05 > 0:08:10Now, do you see this? This is all hallmarked Victorian silver, 1892.

0:08:10 > 0:08:13And you've got some lovely initials on there, too, do you see?

0:08:13 > 0:08:16You've got A...

0:08:16 > 0:08:21- B.- B, from WPS. Which is really nice, so it's obviously a gift.

0:08:21 > 0:08:24And then you've got another little mark there, see that?

0:08:24 > 0:08:28I'm pretty sure that's a London manufacturer's.

0:08:28 > 0:08:32- You've got Swaine's, London, who made crops like that.- Wow.

0:08:32 > 0:08:36- I think that's a really nice find. - Good eye, Lee.

0:08:36 > 0:08:40- What do you think, Lutalo? - I really like it. It's really good.

0:08:40 > 0:08:42Obviously, it IS a proper riding crop.

0:08:42 > 0:08:44Yes, this is where I get nervous, though,

0:08:44 > 0:08:46cos it's linked to my sport, isn't it?

0:08:46 > 0:08:49But it's an antique and that would be used by the gentry.

0:08:49 > 0:08:52That is not your average riding crop.

0:08:52 > 0:08:57The bad news is, we've got 95 on there, as the price ticket.

0:08:57 > 0:09:00- What could you do?- 80.- 80.

0:09:00 > 0:09:03It's really nice, but I'm worried about the estimation.

0:09:03 > 0:09:06- I really want to thrash the girls. - No messing about, eh, Lutalo?

0:09:06 > 0:09:09I think we should go for a bit larger profit margin, if we can.

0:09:09 > 0:09:12What could you see yourself paying for it?

0:09:12 > 0:09:16- 60.- What do you think, Lutalo, 60-ish?- I'd say 60.

0:09:16 > 0:09:19I can do 75, but I'm absolutely on the floor.

0:09:19 > 0:09:21What do you think?

0:09:21 > 0:09:23I'm thinking, let's carry on having a wander around.

0:09:23 > 0:09:25I think that's a good shout.

0:09:25 > 0:09:27Let's hope the gentleman doesn't sell it in the meantime.

0:09:27 > 0:09:32- Definitely.- Come on now, Blues. Crack the whip and start buying!

0:09:34 > 0:09:36The Reds are going all Oriental.

0:09:36 > 0:09:39That's Japanese, as opposed to Chinese,

0:09:39 > 0:09:41and it's called Satsuma ware.

0:09:41 > 0:09:45- And that's Japanese... - How old do you think it is?

0:09:45 > 0:09:47That's...probably 1920, something like that.

0:09:47 > 0:09:50- That's Japanese Kutani ware. - Do they sell well?

0:09:50 > 0:09:53Not fantastically well, unless it's early.

0:09:53 > 0:09:55When you're looking at Oriental stuff,

0:09:55 > 0:09:58ideally, now in today's market, it's the Chinese pieces you want.

0:09:58 > 0:10:01Chinese buyers are buying everything back.

0:10:01 > 0:10:04Many of these Chinese items came from Beijing to London

0:10:04 > 0:10:08just like the Olympics. Now the antiques are going back again.

0:10:12 > 0:10:14- What is it, exactly? - A bottle opener.

0:10:14 > 0:10:18- You Olympians obviously don't drink enough.- No.- You're strict!

0:10:18 > 0:10:21Our bodies are temples.

0:10:21 > 0:10:24What caught my eye was this decoration on the end here,

0:10:24 > 0:10:26because it's very similar to the sort of decoration

0:10:26 > 0:10:30you'd get by Georg Jensen, who's a Danish silversmith.

0:10:30 > 0:10:33And it's how much? 100. Yeah...

0:10:33 > 0:10:35That's quite a lot, isn't it, for a bottle opener?

0:10:35 > 0:10:40- If it was Jensen, it would possibly be worth it?- It would be, yes.

0:10:40 > 0:10:44This one is by Jensen. It's a little ladle, which is sweet, actually.

0:10:44 > 0:10:47And how much is the ladle? 120.

0:10:47 > 0:10:49I'm not convinced.

0:10:49 > 0:10:51I think, again, it's something to think about.

0:10:51 > 0:10:53- Can we make a profit off it? - Not at 120.

0:10:53 > 0:10:57- No?- No. What's your rock bottom on that?- 85.

0:10:57 > 0:11:00It is for charity. All the profit that we're making today,

0:11:00 > 0:11:03cos I've got these amazing Olympians with me. Could you do 80?

0:11:03 > 0:11:05You're liking this at 80.

0:11:05 > 0:11:07Do you know, it's very collectable. Do you like it...?

0:11:07 > 0:11:12I like it. I'm attracted to it, simply because it's silver.

0:11:12 > 0:11:15But...I'm thinking about the winning.

0:11:15 > 0:11:20Shall we sprint round the rest of the hall and maybe pop back?

0:11:20 > 0:11:22- Yeah, I think so. - But it's definitely one to consider.

0:11:22 > 0:11:25- Thank you very much.- Another item on the back burner, Blues.

0:11:25 > 0:11:28You'd better get something under your belt soon.

0:11:28 > 0:11:30We're more than halfway through the shop.

0:11:30 > 0:11:33We've got to up the ante here. I'm going to test your skills.

0:11:33 > 0:11:36Bear in mind you've had about 40 minutes of bargain hunting.

0:11:36 > 0:11:40- Point out Chinese and Japanese to me.- Japanese.- Japanese, well done.

0:11:40 > 0:11:42- Japanese.- Well done.

0:11:42 > 0:11:46- Chinese?- Chinese! Well done! My goodness me!

0:11:46 > 0:11:48Absolutely... 40 minutes' training with me

0:11:48 > 0:11:51and you're now professional antiques experts!

0:11:51 > 0:11:55OK, we're on the clock. Nothing for us today, but thanks a lot.

0:11:55 > 0:11:56Come on, girls.

0:11:58 > 0:12:00David, your coaching skills are not in question.

0:12:00 > 0:12:05Whether you'll find all three items in time is less of a dead cert.

0:12:05 > 0:12:07Do you fancy a day out at the races?

0:12:07 > 0:12:10Well, millions of Brits do.

0:12:10 > 0:12:13But if you go to the races, what do you do? You place a bet,

0:12:13 > 0:12:17in the hope that you're going to double your money or even better.

0:12:17 > 0:12:20Well, it's exactly the same in the antiques game,

0:12:20 > 0:12:24but you can combine both pleasures if you buy objects

0:12:24 > 0:12:29that relate to racing, like these three plaques. Aren't they fun?

0:12:29 > 0:12:32Fun and highly unusual.

0:12:32 > 0:12:37Each one shows on display a horseshoe, one of the four

0:12:37 > 0:12:41horseshoes probably worn by the racehorse at the event

0:12:41 > 0:12:43which the plaque commemorates.

0:12:43 > 0:12:46On the far side, we've got a horse called Florence,

0:12:46 > 0:12:49which apparently won the Manchester Cup in 1884.

0:12:49 > 0:12:52You need to do a lot of research to find out

0:12:52 > 0:12:56more about that horse and its owner and its success.

0:12:56 > 0:13:02This one I know something about, because St Gatien won the Derby

0:13:02 > 0:13:06in 1884 and it won it as a result of a dead heat.

0:13:06 > 0:13:08Now, that has only happened twice

0:13:08 > 0:13:11in the Derby in its long history.

0:13:11 > 0:13:14the middle one though, I think is the greatest fun, don't you?

0:13:14 > 0:13:19It's so unusual. Again, with a horseshoe, but this time containing

0:13:19 > 0:13:22not an inscription, but a portrait of a horse.

0:13:22 > 0:13:24Oil paint on metal -

0:13:24 > 0:13:29that metal panel shows a lovely mugshot of the winning racehorse

0:13:29 > 0:13:33and if you turn it over, it's got a lengthy paper inscription

0:13:33 > 0:13:37on the back and you can see the date at the bottom, 1884,

0:13:37 > 0:13:39but most of the rest of it has been rubbed out.

0:13:39 > 0:13:44Turn it over and fortunately, the thing is entitled Prince, 1884.

0:13:44 > 0:13:46That's what you have to research.

0:13:46 > 0:13:51For the racing fraternity, and they do say that racing is the sport

0:13:51 > 0:13:55of Kings, somebody - once these are researched - will really love them.

0:13:55 > 0:14:01what are they worth now? If you find them in a field in Lincoln,

0:14:01 > 0:14:07you'd have to pay £80 each. Three eights are 24 - £240

0:14:07 > 0:14:10for all this history, for all this interest, for all this potential

0:14:10 > 0:14:15to research. At that, I tell you, they're dirt cheap.

0:14:15 > 0:14:17Neigh!

0:14:17 > 0:14:23Now, let's race back to the shop and the Blues are in fine fettle.

0:14:23 > 0:14:25A field surgeon's set?

0:14:25 > 0:14:27Sounds like a stitch-up job to me(!)

0:14:27 > 0:14:30So you can get sewn up, if you get beaten and have a few wounds,

0:14:30 > 0:14:34and I can get mended out on the field horse riding.

0:14:34 > 0:14:37Are we interested in this, guys? Do you like it?

0:14:37 > 0:14:39It's all to do with profit, Kate, so we need your advice.

0:14:39 > 0:14:44- Whatever you think.- Well, I think the riding crop is the best so far.

0:14:44 > 0:14:46I think the Jensen's not bad.

0:14:46 > 0:14:51Shall we get down to the bottom and see what we can find elsewhere?

0:14:51 > 0:14:54Still nothing, Blues? Unless you start spending soon,

0:14:54 > 0:14:56our charity does not stand a chance.

0:14:56 > 0:14:58You wanted Chinese, here's some Chinese things.

0:14:58 > 0:15:03- I want to have a look at that bag there.- OK. That's rather nice.

0:15:03 > 0:15:06- Doesn't look very Chinese to me. - Feel how heavy that is.

0:15:06 > 0:15:10- Wow.- Now that's not Chinese. I don't think it matters. Very nice.

0:15:10 > 0:15:14- It's quite unique, isn't it?- Yeah. - But is it silver or just metal?

0:15:14 > 0:15:16- I can't see any hallmarks there. - OK, let's have a look.

0:15:16 > 0:15:21- Yeah, there is, there's a mark there.- Oh, yes, it's tiny.

0:15:21 > 0:15:22- ALL: A-ah!- Oh!

0:15:22 > 0:15:24It's an ambush!

0:15:24 > 0:15:26- Go away!- Thank you very much.

0:15:26 > 0:15:28This is Red territory!

0:15:28 > 0:15:31We've heard that you guys are being competitive, so we've upped our game.

0:15:31 > 0:15:33Have you?

0:15:33 > 0:15:35You're doing great? Aww.

0:15:35 > 0:15:38- I think they look nervous, girls. - They look very nervous, don't they?

0:15:38 > 0:15:42- Moving on.- I can see him shaking, you're bluffing!

0:15:42 > 0:15:47Good luck, girls, you'll need it. See you at the auction.

0:15:47 > 0:15:50Do you think they're confident or is it just a front?

0:15:50 > 0:15:54- They seem really confident.- But it's bluffing.- You think it is?- Yeah.

0:15:54 > 0:15:58- Well, it got me worried. Aren't you worried?- No, I'm confident.

0:15:58 > 0:16:00You're so cool, you two. I've got a cracking team here.

0:16:00 > 0:16:03Now come on, then, we're running short of time here.

0:16:03 > 0:16:05- What have you got on it?- 120.

0:16:05 > 0:16:08120, OK, so it's a vintage lady's handbag.

0:16:08 > 0:16:11It's just a shame they've got a little hole there in the mesh...

0:16:11 > 0:16:13Sam's got a sharpshooting eye for detail!

0:16:13 > 0:16:15It's had little repairs.

0:16:15 > 0:16:20- I think it's probably 50-80, 60-90 in auction.- Best we could do is 90.

0:16:20 > 0:16:23I think it's time to get the secret weapons out.

0:16:23 > 0:16:26I know, cos this would go really nicely,

0:16:26 > 0:16:29maybe, I don't know, Friday evening...

0:16:29 > 0:16:31- Girls...- ..with my silver medal.

0:16:31 > 0:16:35- Oh, right.- Where's the other one? Come on, don't be shy.- Whoa, eh?

0:16:37 > 0:16:41- So what do you think?- I'll do 65. - You've gone up a fiver, you said 60.

0:16:41 > 0:16:45- Did I?- Yeah, 60.- Or did I say 60? Now, I'm confused.

0:16:45 > 0:16:48- Do it for 60 and we'll say yes.- 60? - Yeah. OK, we'll do that, all right.

0:16:48 > 0:16:51- Well, it's for...and them are brilliant.- Thank you.

0:16:51 > 0:16:53- Aren't they? - Have you got a price on them?

0:16:53 > 0:16:57Not yet, no, I still like it, so I'm going to keep hold of it for a while!

0:16:57 > 0:17:00OK, girls, as it's for charity, throw that in.

0:17:00 > 0:17:04- Oh, lovely!- Thank you so much. - For free?- Yeah, free, yeah.

0:17:04 > 0:17:09- So nice of you, thank you. - Isn't that lovely of him? Thank you very much.

0:17:09 > 0:17:10Oh, I say, what a nice man!

0:17:10 > 0:17:13- I want a stroke of them medals. - Yeah! For that you can.

0:17:13 > 0:17:15They're beautiful, aren't they?

0:17:15 > 0:17:18This medal lark is proving to be a very smart tactic.

0:17:18 > 0:17:22Me, too. That's the nearest I'll get. There you go.

0:17:22 > 0:17:24Right, so the Blues are two down on the Red team,

0:17:24 > 0:17:26and less than ten minutes to go.

0:17:26 > 0:17:28Let's turn that trot into a gallop, shall we, lads?

0:17:28 > 0:17:30How are you feeling?

0:17:30 > 0:17:33- Edgy!- Yes! - The nerves are kicking in.

0:17:33 > 0:17:35I was thinking maybe we should make a purchase

0:17:35 > 0:17:39sooner rather than later, so that we can get the ball going.

0:17:39 > 0:17:40I think you're right.

0:17:40 > 0:17:42Yeah, good plan there, Lutalo.

0:17:42 > 0:17:44We're right by the riding crop.

0:17:44 > 0:17:45Could you do £65 cash?

0:17:45 > 0:17:49He's an Olympian, and he can let you feel his medal.

0:17:49 > 0:17:51- I'm a Paralympian. - Look, show the medal!

0:17:51 > 0:17:54- I ride horses for a living. - Look at this!

0:17:54 > 0:17:57- A real, live, bronze medal. - VENDOR: It's a bronze!

0:17:57 > 0:18:00THEY LAUGH I left the other colours at home, unfortunately!

0:18:00 > 0:18:02- VENDOR: What did you win it for? - Tae kwon do.

0:18:02 > 0:18:04Very good.

0:18:04 > 0:18:06So don't fight with him, cos he'll win!

0:18:06 > 0:18:08- £65 cash? - VENDOR: I'll tell you what I'll do,

0:18:08 > 0:18:11I won't do it for £65. I'll do it for £60.

0:18:12 > 0:18:14Oh, you star!

0:18:14 > 0:18:16- Thank you, sir.- Thank you very much.

0:18:16 > 0:18:18Thank you very, very, very much.

0:18:18 > 0:18:20- That's brilliant.- No problem.

0:18:20 > 0:18:23- I knew the medal would swing it! - Yeah!

0:18:23 > 0:18:26See, Blues? You should have got that medal out sooner!

0:18:26 > 0:18:28You could've high-kicked your way through the shop by now!

0:18:28 > 0:18:30First item bought.

0:18:30 > 0:18:32Back to the Reds, and David is still convinced

0:18:32 > 0:18:34something Chinese will bring in the big money.

0:18:34 > 0:18:36OK, girls, grab one of those.

0:18:36 > 0:18:38Have a look at it while I look at the next one.

0:18:38 > 0:18:40- There's a pair of these, is there? - VENDOR: Yeah.

0:18:40 > 0:18:41What you think about those?

0:18:41 > 0:18:43There are SO Chinese, it's unbelievable.

0:18:43 > 0:18:44- Yeah.- Blue and white.

0:18:44 > 0:18:48You often see these colours in this kind of porcelain in ginger jars.

0:18:48 > 0:18:51And they were shipped out to the West

0:18:51 > 0:18:54- in their hundreds of thousands. - It's just a shame about that.

0:18:54 > 0:18:56I know, I know! But they ARE Chinese!

0:18:56 > 0:18:58They're 18th or 19th century.

0:18:58 > 0:19:01They're hand-painted, they've got a very good look,

0:19:01 > 0:19:03like an interior design look.

0:19:03 > 0:19:06They're provincial. How much can they be? The absolute...

0:19:06 > 0:19:08Come on! Look at those ladies!

0:19:08 > 0:19:10Look at them, please!

0:19:10 > 0:19:13I'll do £45, right, which is...

0:19:13 > 0:19:15I must be mental, right?

0:19:15 > 0:19:18That's right with that, and I'll chuck this in.

0:19:18 > 0:19:21This man is a diamond! Another freebie!

0:19:21 > 0:19:23An 18th century tea bowl.

0:19:23 > 0:19:26That's beautiful. So you said £40, and we can walk away?

0:19:26 > 0:19:27- Did I say that?- Yeah.

0:19:27 > 0:19:29- Shall I tell you what this is, very quickly?- Yeah.

0:19:29 > 0:19:32- That's good quality. - It is a sweet little tea bowl,

0:19:32 > 0:19:34- and see that mark on the base? - Yeah.

0:19:34 > 0:19:37It's not a reign mark, as in, the Emperor mark.

0:19:37 > 0:19:39This was made potentially during a period

0:19:39 > 0:19:44when the Emperor banned any use of his reign, on pain of death.

0:19:44 > 0:19:47So it could be Kangxi, circa 1700. So the deal is, what?

0:19:47 > 0:19:48- £45 for the three?- Go on.

0:19:48 > 0:19:50Is that what we said? Or did we say less?

0:19:50 > 0:19:53- I thought 40.- Shall we say...

0:19:53 > 0:19:55Shall we try £35? Would that be horrible?

0:19:55 > 0:19:57- Yeah.- Helen, would that be horrible?

0:19:57 > 0:20:00- I think £40 sounds good.- Yeah, 40.

0:20:00 > 0:20:02Well done for getting your oar in, Helen!

0:20:02 > 0:20:04Let's not fleece the poor chap!

0:20:04 > 0:20:07- Yeah, you're on a winner! - Thank you very much!

0:20:07 > 0:20:09That's your lot, Reds. You can cool down.

0:20:09 > 0:20:12But, Blues, you've got a challenge of Olympic proportions.

0:20:12 > 0:20:14Two items, less than 10 minutes.

0:20:14 > 0:20:17- He's the original Paddington, isn't he?- Yeah, it's lovely.

0:20:17 > 0:20:20I think it's got a chance, whereas this one might attract

0:20:20 > 0:20:23the toy collectors as well,

0:20:23 > 0:20:25because he's got a bit more age.

0:20:25 > 0:20:28I would say he's probably '50s, so a little bit earlier.

0:20:28 > 0:20:32He's also got the label for the Dean's Gwentoy Group, here.

0:20:32 > 0:20:34And he's actually in great condition.

0:20:34 > 0:20:37So that just...I love the Paddington,

0:20:37 > 0:20:42but I think this one might appeal to a wider market, perhaps.

0:20:42 > 0:20:45- And he's cheaper! - Ah, the magic word!

0:20:45 > 0:20:48- He's 35.- I think we can knock a bit off that as well.

0:20:48 > 0:20:52- Do you like him? Honestly? - I quite like him.

0:20:52 > 0:20:54- What do you think, Lee? - I like the price.

0:20:54 > 0:20:57- We need to take Kate's advice on the market.- Yes.

0:20:57 > 0:21:00Well, tell you what, while we're thinking,

0:21:00 > 0:21:02let me just go and find out what's the very best...hang on.

0:21:02 > 0:21:04I've got Olympians with me here...

0:21:04 > 0:21:06You need to move quickly, Blues.

0:21:06 > 0:21:08Aren't you forgetting something?

0:21:08 > 0:21:1025? And we're not just Olympians.

0:21:10 > 0:21:12- We're Olympic MEDALLISTS.- Yeah!

0:21:12 > 0:21:14VENDOR: Fantastic!

0:21:16 > 0:21:18- VENDOR: Fantastic! - Ten Olympic gold medals

0:21:18 > 0:21:20is worth a bit off a golden bear!

0:21:20 > 0:21:23- 15?- 15, just for us?

0:21:23 > 0:21:25- Fantastic.- That's a great deal.

0:21:25 > 0:21:27- Thank you very, very much.- Happy?

0:21:27 > 0:21:30- Yes.- We'll do it.- Oh, thank you!

0:21:30 > 0:21:33Don't stop there, Blues. Time is bearing down on you!

0:21:33 > 0:21:35A third item, please, and quickly.

0:21:35 > 0:21:38- The Reds on the other hand... - THEY GIGGLE

0:21:38 > 0:21:40- Now, was that an experience, or what?- Yeah!

0:21:40 > 0:21:43- Wasn't that brilliant? - Yeah, it was good. It was fun.

0:21:43 > 0:21:46And we got some Chinese things, and you two now are fully-fledged,

0:21:46 > 0:21:49within one hour, professional antiques experts!

0:21:52 > 0:21:54We've only got minutes to go.

0:21:54 > 0:21:56Oh, my gosh! We're on the clock, aren't we?

0:21:56 > 0:21:59You're wandering round like you're going round the supermarket!

0:21:59 > 0:22:00I know, I keep forgetting this is timed!

0:22:00 > 0:22:02You've only just realised?

0:22:02 > 0:22:04With only minutes to go, the Blues have headed back

0:22:13 > 0:22:18- 70? Oh, come on!- LEE: What about a photograph wearing a medal? Would you go down to 70?

0:22:18 > 0:22:23This medal haggling is a very versatile technique, isn't it?

0:22:23 > 0:22:26- Done!- Done, and done! Fantastic!

0:22:26 > 0:22:29I hope you don't mind having a photograph with your bronze medal!

0:22:29 > 0:22:32Brilliant! Brilliant! Good choice!

0:22:32 > 0:22:36The lads, Lee and Lutalo left that lovely ladle to the last minute.

0:22:36 > 0:22:38I love a bit of alliteration, don't you?

0:22:38 > 0:22:43On your marks, you Olympians, get set, and stop!

0:22:43 > 0:22:46Time's up! Let's check out what the Red team bought.

0:22:46 > 0:22:49The girls got off the starting block

0:23:16 > 0:23:18So, which is your favourite piece?

0:23:18 > 0:23:21- For me, it's the bag, I like the 1920s bag we got.- OK.

0:23:21 > 0:23:23And for you, Sam?

0:23:23 > 0:23:26I'm going to go for the lipstick case, the RAF,

0:23:26 > 0:23:28and it's like a nice, blue colour.

0:23:28 > 0:23:30Will it bring the biggest profit?

0:23:30 > 0:23:32It may do if there's the right collector at the auction.

0:23:32 > 0:23:35And Hels, which piece is going to bring the biggest profit

0:23:35 > 0:23:37- do you think?- I think our Chinese vases, actually.

0:23:37 > 0:23:41Because they're a pair, they're a pair, so they could bring a profit.

0:23:51 > 0:23:53- I'm handing that to Harper. - Thank you.

0:24:40 > 0:24:42What was your total? How much did you spend?

0:24:42 > 0:24:44- 145.- Well, that's very modest.

0:24:44 > 0:24:46Mmm, we were well-behaved!

0:25:04 > 0:25:06So not only is it your favourite,

0:25:06 > 0:25:08- it's going to bring the biggest profit?- I think so.

0:25:08 > 0:25:11All right, fine. Do you agree with that?

0:25:11 > 0:25:14Yes, the bear I think is definitely the best piece we've got today.

0:25:14 > 0:25:17And yes, I think we're going to make a big profit off it.

0:25:17 > 0:25:19Here's the leftover lolly. What are you going to do?

0:25:19 > 0:25:23I'm going to go completely off-piste and I'm going to surprise them.

0:25:23 > 0:25:25Ooh, are you? Off-piste! Lovely!

0:25:25 > 0:25:26Well, don't take too long about it,

0:25:26 > 0:25:29because we're heading straight off to the auction.

0:25:33 > 0:25:34Well, all right, it's two weeks later,

0:25:34 > 0:25:36and just a few miles down the road.

0:25:40 > 0:25:45Golding, Young and Mawer's sale room in Lincoln is where we're at,

0:25:45 > 0:25:47with our old mate, Colin Young.

0:25:47 > 0:25:50Anyway, exciting, this.

0:25:50 > 0:25:53Let's have a birds' eye at what they bought.

0:25:53 > 0:25:56Helen and Samantha and David Harper's first item

0:25:56 > 0:26:00is this sweet little lipstick. Isn't that a honey?

0:26:00 > 0:26:02That is brilliant. Love it.

0:26:02 > 0:26:04I mean, it's the blue does it for me.

0:26:04 > 0:26:08Yes, RAF colours. And we've got the motif on there as well.

0:26:08 > 0:26:11And, of course, we're in Bomber County as well,

0:26:11 > 0:26:13so there's a few things going to be in its favour.

0:26:13 > 0:26:14How much do you think, Colin?

0:26:14 > 0:26:18Well, I think an estimate of £40-60 would encourage everybody,

0:26:18 > 0:26:20and I really would hope it would do far better than that.

0:26:20 > 0:26:22Well, there we go. £40 our girls paid.

0:26:22 > 0:26:24- They paid the right price.- Yes.

0:26:24 > 0:26:27Continuing with our girly theme,

0:26:27 > 0:26:29we've gone with a mesh handbag

0:26:29 > 0:26:32and a silver perfume holder thrown in for free.

0:26:32 > 0:26:33That's a pretty cool lot.

0:26:33 > 0:26:35I think that was a bargain!

0:26:35 > 0:26:38Anyway, it's not silver, this bag, is it?

0:26:38 > 0:26:40- It's silver-coloured metal.- Yes.

0:26:40 > 0:26:42But it seems to be in good nick, you know.

0:26:42 > 0:26:44The mesh is not damaged, is it?

0:26:44 > 0:26:45It's a very usable piece,

0:26:45 > 0:26:48and the condition of the silver pot as well is good.

0:26:48 > 0:26:49Estimate-wise, how much?

0:26:49 > 0:26:52- I suppose £60-80 would be appropriate for that.- That's fine.

0:26:52 > 0:26:55£60 paid by the girls. So, you know, they've done very well.

0:26:55 > 0:26:59And moving into the currently fashionable Chinese works of art,

0:26:59 > 0:27:02we come up with two bottle vases.

0:27:02 > 0:27:03And a little tea bowl.

0:27:03 > 0:27:05There could be a bit of a challenge with this,

0:27:05 > 0:27:07purely because of condition,

0:27:07 > 0:27:09because you've got one which is in pretty good order,

0:27:09 > 0:27:12and the other one is not that good, it has to be said.

0:27:12 > 0:27:15Yeah, well, Helen and Samantha

0:27:15 > 0:27:16have invested in those two

0:27:16 > 0:27:19and got the nice lobed tea bowl thrown in for free.

0:27:19 > 0:27:21They paid £40. Will they make a profit?

0:27:21 > 0:27:23- I think they will make a profit. - How much?

0:27:23 > 0:27:27- Well, let's go for £50-80 and be buoyant with it.- OK, fine.

0:27:27 > 0:27:29If all does not go to plan, though,

0:27:29 > 0:27:31the team can fall back on their bonus buy.

0:27:31 > 0:27:32And let's go and have a look at it.

0:27:34 > 0:27:39OK, girls. You lovely Olympians! £140 you spent.

0:27:39 > 0:27:41£160 of leftover lolly

0:27:43 > 0:27:46- HE CHUCKLES - Oh, Tim!

0:27:46 > 0:27:48It is an original magician's game.

0:27:48 > 0:27:52- He's the jolly, or very happy, Deceiver.- The Gay Deceiver!

0:27:52 > 0:27:54The Gay Deceiver! Exactly!

0:27:54 > 0:27:57This is an original boxed game,

0:27:57 > 0:28:00and inside, we've got a lot of the original fittings inside.

0:28:00 > 0:28:02Little games and tricks you can play on people.

0:28:02 > 0:28:04Imagine a dinner party.

0:28:04 > 0:28:06Conversation's waning, what do you do?

0:28:06 > 0:28:08- You get the Gay Deceiver out! - THEY LAUGH

0:28:08 > 0:28:10- That's what you do. - Anyway, there we go.

0:28:10 > 0:28:13It's got all these bits and bobs. So, this is for a child, yes?

0:28:13 > 0:28:15It's for a child. 1940s, maybe early '50s.

0:28:15 > 0:28:17How much did you spend?

0:28:17 > 0:28:20- What would you pay for a Gay Deceiver?- Did you spend 100?

0:28:20 > 0:28:23- No, half that. 50.- Really?!

0:28:23 > 0:28:25- Yeah, are you impressed?- Yeah!

0:28:25 > 0:28:28Are you really? THEY ALL LAUGH

0:28:28 > 0:28:31- You get a lot for £50, don't you? - You do, it goes a long way. Yes.

0:28:31 > 0:28:32Yeah, that has surprised me.

0:28:32 > 0:28:34Now, on that happy note,

0:28:34 > 0:28:36you don't pick it now, girls, you think about it.

0:28:36 > 0:28:39You get your opportunity to take this bonus buy,

0:28:39 > 0:28:41if you want it, after the sale of your first three items.

0:28:41 > 0:28:43But, right now, for the viewers at home,

0:28:43 > 0:28:47let's check out what the auctioneer thinks about Dave's Gay Deceiver.

0:28:48 > 0:28:54Well, Colin, David Harper had £160 worth of leftover lolly

0:28:54 > 0:28:58and this is what he went out and bought the team.

0:28:58 > 0:29:00- Right, he didn't spend all of it, did he?- No, he did not.

0:29:00 > 0:29:04- That is a little bit of a relief. - He spent just 50.- Just 50?- Yeah.- OK.

0:29:04 > 0:29:07I LOVE the packaging.

0:29:07 > 0:29:09Are you going to be able to conjure up a profit on it?

0:29:09 > 0:29:13I think I'm going to have to pull something out of the hat on this one!

0:29:13 > 0:29:15- It's a difficult thing to value, isn't it?- It is.

0:29:15 > 0:29:18And an interesting estimate of 30 to 50 but hopefully that will encourage them

0:29:18 > 0:29:21and we'll get plenty of people after it.

0:29:21 > 0:29:25All I can say is jolly good luck to you making a profit on that,

0:29:25 > 0:29:27but there we are. Who's to say? That's it for the Reds.

0:29:27 > 0:29:30Now, for the Blues.

0:29:30 > 0:29:31First up for Lutalo and Lee

0:29:31 > 0:29:35is the riding crop, appropriately, for our equestrian.

0:29:35 > 0:29:38Well, if anybody knows what to buy, well, it certainly should be Lee.

0:29:38 > 0:29:42- Yes.- So, let's see how he compares with the estimate I've put on.

0:29:42 > 0:29:45Something like this, with a good horn handle, nice silver band on it.

0:29:45 > 0:29:48£60-£80 is where I would expect it to be.

0:29:48 > 0:29:51Well, there you are, £60-£80 is a good estimate.

0:29:51 > 0:29:53- £60 they paid.- OK.

0:29:53 > 0:29:56So, we should kick on with that. Next is the teddy bear.

0:29:56 > 0:30:00- Who is it by?- It's a Dean's and I think it will be a sure-fire bet

0:30:00 > 0:30:01when it does come to auction.

0:30:01 > 0:30:04£30-£40, I would imagine, is the range for it.

0:30:04 > 0:30:06- OK, £15 paid, that's great. - Yeah, I think it's a good find.

0:30:06 > 0:30:10- Not any age to it, is there? Is it 1950s?- '50s, yeah, '50s.

0:30:10 > 0:30:13- But adorable and desirable. - Indeed.- OK, fine.

0:30:13 > 0:30:16Now, lastly, but by no means least,

0:30:16 > 0:30:19is there one name from Scandinavia

0:30:19 > 0:30:22that conjures up profit in people's minds

0:30:22 > 0:30:25- and that is Georg Jensen, yes?- Yes.

0:30:25 > 0:30:27A very nice looking item.

0:30:27 > 0:30:30- Plenty of collectors would spend money for that.- How much money wise?

0:30:30 > 0:30:35- Well, I think £30-£50.- Is that all? Cos Kate went £70 for that.

0:30:35 > 0:30:38Oh, I think that one might be a bit more of a cropper than the crop.

0:30:38 > 0:30:42- You think it might come a cropper? - I think it might, actually, yes.

0:30:42 > 0:30:43Oh, dear, well, on that basis,

0:30:43 > 0:30:45they're going to need their bonus buy.

0:30:45 > 0:30:46Let's go and have a look at it.

0:30:48 > 0:30:50You spent £145, right?

0:30:50 > 0:30:55£155 of leftover lolly went to Kate Bliss and what did you invest it in?

0:30:55 > 0:30:58- A box!- A box!- A box!

0:30:58 > 0:31:02You've got to put your commercial heads on for this one, boys, OK?

0:31:02 > 0:31:04Because I did go a little bit off-piste.

0:31:04 > 0:31:07I haven't bought something I'm expecting YOU to like,

0:31:07 > 0:31:10but I'm hoping it will appeal to the clientele at the auction house.

0:31:10 > 0:31:12- Oh.- And there you have it.

0:31:12 > 0:31:15- Something inside the box. - I think we need more info.

0:31:15 > 0:31:20It is nine-carat white gold with numerous diamonds.

0:31:20 > 0:31:21Have a little look.

0:31:21 > 0:31:24- That's very nice.- I'm not pretending it's antique cos it isn't,

0:31:24 > 0:31:25it is actually a modern ring,

0:31:25 > 0:31:29but I think it's quite a lot of bling for the money.

0:31:29 > 0:31:32That's quite something, isn't it? Eh?

0:31:32 > 0:31:34It doesn't have to be antique, does it?

0:31:34 > 0:31:37It's a bargain hunt and if you've got a bargain you think...

0:31:37 > 0:31:39- How much profit might it make? - How much did you spend?

0:31:39 > 0:31:42- Yeah, how much did you spend? - I spent £90.

0:31:42 > 0:31:44- 90?!- Really?- OK.- OK.

0:31:48 > 0:31:50How much could we expect to get?

0:31:50 > 0:31:53I would hope you're certainly going to get between 100 and 150 for it.

0:31:53 > 0:31:56- All right, happy with that? - Yes, very happy.- Yes.

0:31:56 > 0:31:59You decide later, after the sale of your first three items

0:32:11 > 0:32:15- How do you rate that then, Colin? - I rate that £60-£80.

0:32:15 > 0:32:17It's not the greatest, sort of, decoration,

0:32:17 > 0:32:21but I think as a piece of dress jewellery there will be plenty

0:32:21 > 0:32:24of people who will have a go for that and we might get over £100 for it.

0:32:24 > 0:32:28- That's where we need to be aiming. - Is it?- Kate's purchase, £90.

0:32:28 > 0:32:32I think the boys will like it, I think they'll probably go with it,
