0:01:04 > 0:01:06But first, let's see what lies ahead.

0:01:08 > 0:01:10The Reds love a bit of retro.

0:01:10 > 0:01:13This watch is from 1977 and it's going great.

0:01:13 > 0:01:15Well, the old stuff is sometimes the better stuff,

0:01:15 > 0:01:17we all know that.

0:01:17 > 0:01:20The Blues have their eye on the prize.

0:01:21 > 0:01:24And there's lots of fun down at the auction.

0:01:24 > 0:01:26- We've got it!- Yeah!- 22.

0:01:26 > 0:01:28I'm getting more excited than you are.

0:01:28 > 0:01:29Sold!

0:01:30 > 0:01:35But that's all coming up later. So, let's meet today's teams.

0:01:35 > 0:01:36Two sets of friends, yes.

0:01:36 > 0:01:39For the Reds, we've got buddies Alison and Chris

0:01:39 > 0:01:41and for the Blues, we have Louise and Lisa.

0:01:41 > 0:01:44- Hello. ALL:- Hello!

0:01:44 > 0:01:45Resounding hello.

0:01:45 > 0:01:47So, Alison, how did you two meet?

0:01:47 > 0:01:50My friend Jane, who I've worked with for a long time,

0:01:50 > 0:01:52- Chris is her husband.- So you've borrowed him for the day?

0:01:52 > 0:01:54I have, I have certainly.

0:01:54 > 0:01:56So, Alison, what do you actually do for a living?

0:01:56 > 0:02:00I work for UCAS as a relationship manager

0:02:00 > 0:02:04and I support all the higher education providers in the north.

0:02:04 > 0:02:06We've probably had correspondence at some stage, you never know.

0:02:06 > 0:02:08We might've done.

0:02:08 > 0:02:10So, tell me about your passion.

0:02:10 > 0:02:15My passion is antiques. I live in an Art Deco apartment block

0:02:15 > 0:02:17and it's full of things that I've collected

0:02:17 > 0:02:20so I like my Art Deco and my Art Nouveau.

0:02:20 > 0:02:24I've got a lot of mid-century things like pottery and glass

0:02:24 > 0:02:28and the other thing that I've got tucked away,

0:02:28 > 0:02:32that I don't really show everybody, is my collection of Rupert annuals.

0:02:32 > 0:02:34Cos my dad bought me a Rupert annual every year

0:02:34 > 0:02:37from when I was very small until I was about 28.

0:02:37 > 0:02:41But my little secret is that I've got a Rupert tattoo.

0:02:41 > 0:02:44- And that's tucked away somewhere secret as well, I assume?- It is.

0:02:44 > 0:02:46We're not going to go there.

0:02:46 > 0:02:48We're going to let all the Bargain Hunt fraternity

0:02:48 > 0:02:51- let their imaginations run riot, OK? - That's good.

0:02:51 > 0:02:53Chris, are you a tattooed man in that department or...?

0:02:53 > 0:02:57- Er, I do have one but I won't get that one out.- Oh, right.

0:02:57 > 0:03:00I believe you've had quite a transformation in your career.

0:03:00 > 0:03:03Yes, I started out as a builder when I left school

0:03:03 > 0:03:07and then I sort of moved away from that and got into the care industry,

0:03:07 > 0:03:11eventually working as a mental health social worker

0:03:11 > 0:03:13and then I've progressed from that now

0:03:13 > 0:03:16and I actually teach social work at university

0:03:16 > 0:03:17so I'm a senior lecturer at university.

0:03:17 > 0:03:20But there's a lot more to you, isn't there?

0:03:20 > 0:03:22You are in a band and you play.

0:03:22 > 0:03:25Yeah, well, I sing in an '80s covers band

0:03:25 > 0:03:28so we do a sort of an eclectic range of tunes,

0:03:28 > 0:03:31anything from the '80s, basically.

0:03:31 > 0:03:34What's the one tune you like to sing more than any other?

0:03:34 > 0:03:36Well, I think the one that I enjoy doing is

0:03:36 > 0:03:39- Sledgehammer by Peter Gabriel, I enjoy singing that.- OK.

0:03:39 > 0:03:42- That's quite fun.- You do enjoy that? - Yeah.- So you're going to be aiming high today?

0:03:42 > 0:03:45- We are going to be aiming high. - Golden gavel all the way.

0:03:45 > 0:03:47- Oh, yes, definitely.- Golden gavel.

0:03:47 > 0:03:49Fighting talk, Blues, don't you think so?

0:03:49 > 0:03:51Well, we'll see.

0:03:51 > 0:03:53Louise, how did you two become friends?

0:03:53 > 0:03:55We met on our first day at university.

0:03:55 > 0:03:59So we went to Sheffield University, so we met the first evening

0:03:59 > 0:04:01in the queue for tea in the hall of residence

0:04:01 > 0:04:04and we've been friends ever since.

0:04:04 > 0:04:06But things have obviously moved on for you, haven't they,

0:04:06 > 0:04:08in the last 20-something years?

0:04:08 > 0:04:11Yes, at university I trained to be a speech and language therapist

0:04:11 > 0:04:13- so that's the job that I've had for the last 25 years.- Yeah.

0:04:13 > 0:04:17So basically I work with children, young children under three,

0:04:17 > 0:04:20so I spent all of my day working with other teachers,

0:04:20 > 0:04:24trying to work out what can get this child motivated to talk,

0:04:24 > 0:04:27- what can help them, how can we get them to communicate.- Yeah.

0:04:27 > 0:04:30And then I come home where I've got three really loud, noisy children

0:04:30 > 0:04:33- so I come home and tell everybody, "Stop talking!"- Really?

0:04:33 > 0:04:36"No more talking, don't talk to me, we're just having silence."

0:04:36 > 0:04:37- Yes.- Oh!

0:04:37 > 0:04:40- But, Lisa.- Hello.- You've also been teaching along the way.

0:04:40 > 0:04:43Yes, I started as a teacher teaching young children

0:04:43 > 0:04:45and occasionally I would ring Louise going,

0:04:45 > 0:04:47"I've got this child with this problem,

0:04:47 > 0:04:50"I don't understand what the speech therapist said, talk me through it."

0:04:50 > 0:04:53So she has been useful over the years.

0:04:53 > 0:04:57But now I've had to stop teaching for family reasons

0:04:57 > 0:05:01but I've become a school governor for a school in Sheffield,

0:05:01 > 0:05:02it's really fascinating work.

0:05:02 > 0:05:06And you're something almost of a professional bargain hunter,

0:05:06 > 0:05:07I'm being told here?

0:05:07 > 0:05:10Oh, well, I like a good fettle around a charity shop.

0:05:10 > 0:05:14No, listen, for the benefit of people down south,

0:05:14 > 0:05:17could you explain what a fettle is?

0:05:17 > 0:05:19- Well, a good root through.- OK.

0:05:19 > 0:05:22- Sort through a bargain bucket. - You do.

0:05:22 > 0:05:24So, you're quite well matched, you two, aren't you?

0:05:24 > 0:05:25I mean, no two ways about it.

0:05:25 > 0:05:27Where do the tactics come into all of this?

0:05:27 > 0:05:29I've done all the research,

0:05:29 > 0:05:32- Lisa's told me what the strategy is.- OK.

0:05:32 > 0:05:33Listen to our expert.

0:05:33 > 0:05:36Haggle well, try and get a good deal.

0:05:36 > 0:05:38Well, I think before you follow your nose,

0:05:38 > 0:05:42you're going to have to have some inducement in the form of £300.

0:05:42 > 0:05:44- Marvellous.- Thank you.- £300.

0:05:44 > 0:05:47- And also for the Reds, we've got £300.- Thank you.

0:05:47 > 0:05:51- Go forth and find your relative experts.- Thank you.- OK.

0:05:51 > 0:05:54Well, let's see if they're friends at the end of the day.

0:05:56 > 0:05:58Now to the experts.

0:05:58 > 0:06:01Sailing away with the Reds, it's Danny Sebastian.

0:06:02 > 0:06:06And scaling the heights for the Blues, it's Jonathan Pratt.

0:06:08 > 0:06:10OK, guys, what are we looking for today?

0:06:10 > 0:06:14I fancy something mid-century, maybe some glass or ceramics.

0:06:14 > 0:06:17- And Chris?- Maybe something to take me back to my childhood,

0:06:17 > 0:06:19maybe a toy, something like that.

0:06:19 > 0:06:21- LISA:- I'm looking for something that I like...- Yeah.

0:06:21 > 0:06:23..therefore I think somebody else would like

0:06:23 > 0:06:26- and therefore they would buy it. - That is very good advice

0:06:26 > 0:06:29- and I'm going to be following your advice too. Come on, let's go.- OK.

0:06:29 > 0:06:31- Let's go and have a look.- OK.

0:06:31 > 0:06:33Have our teams got the killer instinct?

0:06:33 > 0:06:35Your time starts now.

0:06:35 > 0:06:36ROARING

0:06:36 > 0:06:38- Run!- Are we running?

0:06:38 > 0:06:42You Reds are keen! Save your energy.

0:06:42 > 0:06:44There are over 400 stalls here, guys.

0:06:44 > 0:06:47- You can buy a unicycle. - I had that pram!

0:06:51 > 0:06:53This is quite interesting, isn't it?

0:06:53 > 0:06:54What's caught the Reds' attention?

0:06:54 > 0:06:57Yes, these old chemist jars and things do...

0:06:57 > 0:07:00- Yes, they're very commercial, they do like them...- 35.

0:07:00 > 0:07:02- ..they're great props, you know? - Chipped.

0:07:02 > 0:07:04- Nothing chipped. - Nothing chipped or broken.

0:07:04 > 0:07:07I think that's a good point they're making there with,

0:07:07 > 0:07:10you know, nothing chipped. That's when these items are so old

0:07:10 > 0:07:13- you kind of sometimes expect a little bit of damage.- Right.

0:07:13 > 0:07:16- So we can always keep that in mind. - OK.- Yeah, OK.

0:07:16 > 0:07:17Don't forget, this clock is running

0:07:17 > 0:07:20so there's nothing that's absolutely fantastic here.

0:07:20 > 0:07:21- We've got to keep moving.- Yep.

0:07:21 > 0:07:23And the Reds are good at that.

0:07:23 > 0:07:24Now, where are the Blues?

0:07:27 > 0:07:28So what are you looking at, ladies?

0:07:28 > 0:07:32- Lisa's pointed out these but it hasn't got a price on.- OK.

0:07:32 > 0:07:34- I think they're cute.- Are they silver and do people use them?

0:07:34 > 0:07:37They're what we call bean end coffee spoons because...

0:07:37 > 0:07:39Oh, they've got the coffee beans shapes.

0:07:39 > 0:07:42- And normally they're just all-black. - Yeah.- Right.

0:07:42 > 0:07:44So you've got these colours

0:07:44 > 0:07:47which would suggest a slightly later date.

0:07:47 > 0:07:49- SELLER:- I've had a couple of sets of these

0:07:49 > 0:07:51and we've always known them as harlequin sets

0:07:51 > 0:07:53because of the different colours on the ends.

0:07:53 > 0:07:57- So what age are they, then? - The case is, you know, 1910...- Yeah.

0:07:57 > 0:08:00- ..prewar, you know, that sort of thing.- Yes.

0:08:00 > 0:08:02But then what you're looking at is a bit of '50s styling

0:08:02 > 0:08:04because the shape of the bowls are different as well,

0:08:04 > 0:08:07- the old ones are literally sort of tapered...- Yeah.

0:08:07 > 0:08:09..generally speaking, they're like a little tapered bowl

0:08:09 > 0:08:12whereas this is more round, almost like a mini soup spoon sort of shape.

0:08:12 > 0:08:14It makes me think more of the 1950s.

0:08:14 > 0:08:19- So, what price have you put on that? - I've got £25 on those.

0:08:19 > 0:08:23So at auction, would it be nearer, like, 10, 15?

0:08:23 > 0:08:25- Probably.- Right, OK.- Sorry.

0:08:25 > 0:08:28- OK.- I couldn't drop as low as ten.

0:08:28 > 0:08:31- Two fish suppers?- LISA:- Yeah. - Do 15?

0:08:31 > 0:08:33- SELLER:- Go on, then. Yeah.

0:08:33 > 0:08:35- We like that.- You negotiated, you got to a price.

0:08:35 > 0:08:37- You really like them? - LISA:- Yes, I do like them.

0:08:37 > 0:08:39There you go, that's purchase number one.

0:08:39 > 0:08:41- It's purchase number one. - Yeah.- Very good.

0:08:41 > 0:08:44- Thank you very much.- SELLER:- Thank you very much.- LISA:- Thank you!

0:08:45 > 0:08:48Effortless, Blues, and you're only eight minutes in.

0:08:48 > 0:08:51So that was amazingly quick for a first purchase.

0:08:51 > 0:08:53- I'm very, very proud of you for that.- Thank you.

0:08:53 > 0:08:55Two more to go with loads and loads time.

0:08:55 > 0:08:58It's not coming quite as easily to the Reds.

0:08:58 > 0:09:01- It's forever ticking that clock, you know.- OK.

0:09:01 > 0:09:02And we've got nowt yet.

0:09:02 > 0:09:04Best not to panic, Reds.

0:09:05 > 0:09:07Oh, what have you found?

0:09:07 > 0:09:10An inkwell there, it's a bell inkwell. £180.

0:09:10 > 0:09:13Oh, not sure about that.

0:09:13 > 0:09:15I think you've got more chance of it, you know, sort of

0:09:15 > 0:09:18going into auction and making big money if it's practical,

0:09:18 > 0:09:20- if people can really use it, you know?- Yes.- Yeah.

0:09:20 > 0:09:23Are you really going to put jam in it or something?

0:09:23 > 0:09:24You know, that's the thing!

0:09:24 > 0:09:27- You'll not get much in an inkwell. - No.

0:09:27 > 0:09:30Off to find something practical then, Reds.

0:09:30 > 0:09:33Come on, guys. Let's try and buy.

0:09:33 > 0:09:35- Let's focus.- Let's try and purchase something.

0:09:35 > 0:09:38Good advice, Danny, focus like the Blues,

0:09:38 > 0:09:41who have focused in on a piece of glass.

0:09:41 > 0:09:44So you've got a silver framed magnifying glass

0:09:44 > 0:09:45and it's a decent size

0:09:45 > 0:09:48with this really nicely sort of twisted handle.

0:09:48 > 0:09:51- We've got a Birmingham maker mark and it's 19...- 13.- ..13.

0:09:51 > 0:09:54- Mm-hm.- Yeah. There we are. Nice thing.- Right.

0:09:54 > 0:09:56- Condition's nice.- I like it. - I like that.

0:09:56 > 0:09:59You've got 68 on it, what could you do?

0:09:59 > 0:10:02- SELLER:- It'd have to be 60.- 60. - That's it.

0:10:02 > 0:10:05Anything beginning with a five? Not even 59?

0:10:05 > 0:10:07Not even 59.

0:10:07 > 0:10:09- I just think cos at the auction... - No, no, I know.

0:10:09 > 0:10:11- ..and they go up in five, go up in fives.- No, I'm sorry.

0:10:11 > 0:10:13Sorry, it'd have to be 60.

0:10:13 > 0:10:15What do you think?

0:10:17 > 0:10:21- So I think...- Under the microscope or the magnifying glass.

0:10:21 > 0:10:24- I think we should go for it.- Yep.

0:10:24 > 0:10:25- Yes.- Yes.

0:10:25 > 0:10:28- So, 60?- SELLER:- 60 it is, yeah.

0:10:28 > 0:10:30- LISA:- Thank you very much. - Thank you very much.

0:10:30 > 0:10:32- SELLER:- OK, thank you.

0:10:32 > 0:10:35The Blues have clinched their second deal in just 30 minutes

0:10:35 > 0:10:37and yet the Reds haven't bought anything

0:10:37 > 0:10:39so they need to get their skates on.

0:10:39 > 0:10:41It's quite nice, isn't it?

0:10:41 > 0:10:42How old is it?

0:10:42 > 0:10:45- SELLER:- Probably about '70s. - Right, OK, yeah.

0:10:45 > 0:10:48This watch is from 1977 and it's going great.

0:10:48 > 0:10:50Well, the old stuff is sometimes the better stuff,

0:10:50 > 0:10:52- we all know that.- Yeah. What do you reckon, Alison?

0:10:52 > 0:10:55- I quite like it.- Well, I like my watches too so if it's something

0:10:55 > 0:10:57that you're interested in then, go for it.

0:10:57 > 0:11:00- Can I have a look at it? Is that all right?- SELLER:- Yeah.

0:11:00 > 0:11:04- It's £48.- It's got £48 on the box.

0:11:04 > 0:11:05Expandable bracelet.

0:11:08 > 0:11:10What's the best that you can do on that?

0:11:10 > 0:11:11I'll knock a tenner off, 38.

0:11:13 > 0:11:15- I can hear ticking.- Can you? That's a good sign.

0:11:15 > 0:11:18It's working. What you thinking, Chris? Talk to me.

0:11:18 > 0:11:20Would you take 30 for it?

0:11:20 > 0:11:21- SELLER:- No, I can't do 30.

0:11:21 > 0:11:24- Is that the absolute, absolute deck? - 35 and that's it.

0:11:24 > 0:11:2735. What do you think?

0:11:27 > 0:11:29Is it in good order, the strap?

0:11:29 > 0:11:31In fact, with the condition of the strap,

0:11:31 > 0:11:34you'd actually think that someone hasn't worn it a lot

0:11:34 > 0:11:35because it is in nice condition.

0:11:35 > 0:11:37- ALISON:- The glass isn't scratched either on the front

0:11:37 > 0:11:40- which is a good thing.- You're getting too good at this, you are!

0:11:40 > 0:11:43With watches, you don't call them used, you call them pre-loved.

0:11:43 > 0:11:47- Oh.- Hey, you've got all the words between them.

0:11:47 > 0:11:49- We've just got to try and agree a... - I fancy it.

0:11:49 > 0:11:51- You fancy that, don't you? - Do you?- Shall we get it?- Yeah.

0:11:51 > 0:11:54- Is that all right?- Let's go for it. - 35. Thank you very much.

0:11:54 > 0:11:56- Much appreciated. - SELLER:- You're welcome.

0:11:56 > 0:11:58Well, you've just bought your first item.

0:11:58 > 0:12:01How are you feeling? By the way, it's took you 30 minutes.

0:12:01 > 0:12:03Oh, I'm feeling a bit panicky then.

0:12:03 > 0:12:06I'm feeling very relieved that we've found something

0:12:06 > 0:12:09so it's great news, it's a good start.

0:12:09 > 0:12:12Agreed, and with that, it's Blues two, Reds one.

0:12:12 > 0:12:15But there's still work to be done, teams.

0:12:15 > 0:12:17Now, while they carry on shopping,

0:12:17 > 0:12:20I'm getting away from the hubbub of the fair to show you something

0:12:20 > 0:12:24that would be right at home in Kedleston Hall itself.

0:12:31 > 0:12:34Well, this is a case of me bringing a little bit of Derby

0:12:34 > 0:12:38back to Derbyshire because this soup dish

0:12:38 > 0:12:45was made at William Dewsbury's Derby factory in around about 1820.

0:12:45 > 0:12:48Now, if I had been invited to dinner here at Kedleston,

0:12:48 > 0:12:53I would've expected to have my Brown Windsor soup

0:12:53 > 0:12:55out of a dish like this.

0:12:55 > 0:12:58And I can tell you it would look quite magnificent

0:12:58 > 0:13:01laid out there on a banquet table.

0:13:01 > 0:13:04Now, this type of decoration is referred to

0:13:04 > 0:13:06primarily as Chinoiserie.

0:13:06 > 0:13:09That is a European interpretation of the Orient

0:13:09 > 0:13:13so there's a bit of Chinese, mixed with a little bit of Japanese.

0:13:13 > 0:13:19In fact, at Derby, these designs were referred to as Japan designs.

0:13:19 > 0:13:22What I loved about this one, which I didn't notice when I bought it

0:13:22 > 0:13:26and I cleaned it, I found three little ducks on a pond.

0:13:26 > 0:13:29I have to say, it didn't look like this

0:13:29 > 0:13:31when I picked it up at an antiques fair.

0:13:31 > 0:13:34But with a little bit of tender care and some washing up liquid,

0:13:34 > 0:13:37I found that my ugly duckling was a real swan.

0:13:37 > 0:13:41At the moment, I don't mind telling you,

0:13:41 > 0:13:45it resigns in a cardboard box in my loft

0:13:45 > 0:13:47with about a dozen other similar,

0:13:47 > 0:13:50all picked up at either antique fairs

0:13:50 > 0:13:52or car boots for not a lot of money.

0:13:52 > 0:13:55This plate cost me the princely sum of £10.

0:13:55 > 0:13:58If I was to sell it as a one-off,

0:13:58 > 0:14:02well, I might, on a very good day, get £100 for it.

0:14:02 > 0:14:07But if this dish could talk, what a story it might tell.

0:14:15 > 0:14:19Back to the shopping where the Blues are leading with two items to one

0:14:19 > 0:14:22and they're just over halfway through.

0:14:22 > 0:14:24So, what's your plan, Blues?

0:14:24 > 0:14:28- We've spent something like £75. - Yeah.

0:14:28 > 0:14:31So I think let's look for something in the 100...

0:14:31 > 0:14:36- that's worth 500. Yeah. - That's easy.- That's the plan.

0:14:36 > 0:14:38- Simple, let's go.- Yeah.

0:14:38 > 0:14:40And what about you, Reds?

0:14:40 > 0:14:43A bit slower than I thought, actually.

0:14:43 > 0:14:46It's taken time, there's so much to go through, isn't there?

0:14:46 > 0:14:49- We definitely need to up our game, Chris.- We do, we do.- Yeah.

0:14:49 > 0:14:51Off you go, then, Reds.

0:14:55 > 0:14:56Oh, Alison's found an old friend.

0:14:56 > 0:14:59Is that one of your family there, Alison? That's a Rupert sat here.

0:14:59 > 0:15:02Oh, it's a Rupert Bear! It's a Rupert Bear, lovely.

0:15:02 > 0:15:04- Shall we buy him?- Aw.

0:15:04 > 0:15:06Oh, he's got real hands, look.

0:15:06 > 0:15:08He's got plastic hands, like rubber hands.

0:15:08 > 0:15:12- Come on, we'll be here all day. - Right, come on, let's go.

0:15:12 > 0:15:13Let's keep rolling.

0:15:13 > 0:15:15If you're going to up your game,

0:15:15 > 0:15:17you need to start making decisions, Reds.

0:15:17 > 0:15:20Remember what you said about focus.

0:15:20 > 0:15:21Now, what about the Blues?

0:15:24 > 0:15:26- So is that a pin thing?- Yeah.

0:15:26 > 0:15:29A pin thing, it's exactly what it is.

0:15:29 > 0:15:32- Pin thing?- It's a pin tray, a little girl bathing her feet.

0:15:32 > 0:15:33Again, it's just a nice,

0:15:33 > 0:15:37very typical sort of Art Deco sort of subject.

0:15:37 > 0:15:39- It's not, you know, Rene Lalique. - Yeah.

0:15:39 > 0:15:42It's not, you know, your top end but if that were a Lalique figure,

0:15:42 > 0:15:43it would be a few hundred pounds.

0:15:43 > 0:15:47- Yeah.- If you bought that for £40, £50 or,

0:15:47 > 0:15:50- I mean, go whatever you like.- Right. - Make an offer.

0:15:50 > 0:15:53- You like it, don't you?- Yes. - Do you?

0:15:53 > 0:15:55That's a, "Yes, but we've got about 20 more minutes

0:15:55 > 0:15:58- "so I'm not going to leap in."- OK.

0:15:58 > 0:16:00While these guys are as cool as cucumbers,

0:16:00 > 0:16:02the Reds are still flapping.

0:16:02 > 0:16:04I'm beginning to panic a bit.

0:16:04 > 0:16:09Yeah, well, don't worry, we've still got time and it can be achieved.

0:16:09 > 0:16:10Nice optimism, Danny.

0:16:10 > 0:16:13And the Blues seem to be very positive

0:16:13 > 0:16:17about their potential third and final item, a glass vase.

0:16:17 > 0:16:21- I like the look of that. - OK, so I'll take the middle out.

0:16:21 > 0:16:22There we are.

0:16:22 > 0:16:25- And that's simply engraved glass, trumpet-shaped.- That's nice.

0:16:25 > 0:16:26There we are.

0:16:26 > 0:16:30And that's the base, silver-plated.

0:16:30 > 0:16:34Unfortunately... So, basically, it's a spill vase and you'd put...

0:16:34 > 0:16:36- When the trumpet shape's in the middle...- Yes.

0:16:36 > 0:16:39..you have your flowers in it and water in it and its weight...

0:16:39 > 0:16:40Feel the weight of that.

0:16:40 > 0:16:43So it's got a lead weight at the bottom

0:16:43 > 0:16:45or a metal weight in the bottom to stop it being tippled over.

0:16:45 > 0:16:48It looks fine from there and there's a hint of the sort of

0:16:48 > 0:16:50- the Art Nouveau in this little bit here.- Yeah.

0:16:50 > 0:16:53But you can see that there's... This has been cut-off

0:16:53 > 0:16:55- and it would've initially had four round there.- Oh, right.

0:16:55 > 0:16:58Well, in great order, it would be sort of £50-£70.

0:16:58 > 0:17:00- It's a good-looking and useful thing.- It is.

0:17:00 > 0:17:02We can negotiate on the price

0:17:02 > 0:17:05- because there's a lot of things that happened to it.- OK, all right.

0:17:05 > 0:17:07I like the shape of it,

0:17:07 > 0:17:11I think it's really elegant and my eye is drawn to it.

0:17:11 > 0:17:15I would have that in my home and I think if I like it,

0:17:15 > 0:17:19- then somebody else probably would. - I think it depends on the price.

0:17:19 > 0:17:22- 65 is a lot from what Jonathan said. - OK.

0:17:22 > 0:17:25So we need to talk to the guy.

0:17:25 > 0:17:27While they negotiate a price,

0:17:27 > 0:17:30Alison's found something that's right up her street.

0:17:30 > 0:17:33- There's a bit of mid-century stuff here, actually.- All right, cool.

0:17:33 > 0:17:37So I quite fancy a bit of a dig around, actually.

0:17:37 > 0:17:39Remember, Alison, time is tight.

0:17:39 > 0:17:42You've just over ten minutes to buy two items.

0:17:42 > 0:17:45There's some bits of glass over there on that table.

0:17:45 > 0:17:48- Have a look.- That's nice. Is that hand...? Is that blown or...?

0:17:48 > 0:17:51- What, this blown glass vase? - Yeah.- It's really nice.

0:17:51 > 0:17:54You can see the bubbles in it so it's been hand-blown, it's really...

0:17:54 > 0:17:56Should we ask him how much this one is?

0:17:56 > 0:17:59- Is there a price on it at all? - I don't think there is.

0:17:59 > 0:18:02- No.- No, but, ooh, it's got the ground...- It's got...

0:18:02 > 0:18:04Sign of quality.

0:18:04 > 0:18:06- Indeed.- No, it's got no price on it, that.

0:18:06 > 0:18:07We need to ask him, then, don't we?

0:18:07 > 0:18:12I just wanted to find out how much this lovely piece of glass is?

0:18:12 > 0:18:15- The best price.- SELLER:- I've got £40 on that. I'd do it 35.

0:18:15 > 0:18:18I believe it to be probably '70s.

0:18:18 > 0:18:23- From the top, I'd say that it's probably Scandinavian.- OK.

0:18:23 > 0:18:25And it's just a nice decorative piece.

0:18:25 > 0:18:28- Do you like that? - CHRIS:- Yeah, I do. That's cool.

0:18:28 > 0:18:30And what's your best price on it?

0:18:30 > 0:18:33- SELLER:- Well, like I said, I've got it for 40, I'll do it for 35.

0:18:33 > 0:18:37I think it needs to be in the 20s, really.

0:18:37 > 0:18:39- You know...- That's what I was thinking.

0:18:39 > 0:18:41..mid-20s we may have a chance.

0:18:41 > 0:18:43- SELLER:- I'm perfectly happy to take 28.

0:18:43 > 0:18:45- Shake the man's hand. - Shall we do 28?- Shake his hand.

0:18:45 > 0:18:47- Yes, let's do it. - Thank you very much.- Thank you.

0:18:47 > 0:18:50- SELLER:- You're welcome.- Thank you very much.- You're welcome.

0:18:50 > 0:18:52Second one in the bag, Reds.

0:18:52 > 0:18:56But with only eight minutes to go, you've really got to get a move on.

0:18:56 > 0:19:00Back with the Blues, Jonathan's negotiated a fantastic price of £20

0:19:00 > 0:19:03on the fluted vase so, what about it, girls?

0:19:03 > 0:19:06- Shall we go for the vase?- Yes.

0:19:06 > 0:19:07Right, we'd like to buy your vase. 20.

0:19:07 > 0:19:09Lovely. Thank you, young lady.

0:19:09 > 0:19:13Thanks very much indeed. Thank you. Thank you very much.

0:19:13 > 0:19:14Thanks, Jonathan. Bye.

0:19:14 > 0:19:17- Are we done?- We are done.

0:19:17 > 0:19:19You've spent less than £100.

0:19:19 > 0:19:23- Yes, but we would like to double our profits.- Yes. There you go.

0:19:24 > 0:19:26Fighting talk with the Reds.

0:19:26 > 0:19:30Alison's still in her element at the same mid-century stall,

0:19:30 > 0:19:33so with five minutes to go, can they find their last item?

0:19:35 > 0:19:39- That's nice.- That is nice. What is it?

0:19:39 > 0:19:43It's Danish teak ice bucket

0:19:43 > 0:19:46- by a designer called Quistgaard. - Oh, right.

0:19:46 > 0:19:49- You're right.- I think that's pronounced right, I don't know.

0:19:49 > 0:19:51And is that the right price for it?

0:19:51 > 0:19:55I don't know to be honest, I know they do really well.

0:19:55 > 0:19:58- Danish is very desirable. - It is very desirable.- Yeah.

0:19:58 > 0:20:01People have home bars and so forth, it's in nice condition.

0:20:01 > 0:20:04Very nice wood, this teak.

0:20:04 > 0:20:07What do you think we should be paying for it, though?

0:20:07 > 0:20:11I think that wants to be about...

0:20:11 > 0:20:12£55, £60.

0:20:12 > 0:20:14I don't really think this gentleman

0:20:14 > 0:20:16- is going to come down to that but...- He might do.

0:20:16 > 0:20:18We've just spend money with them.

0:20:18 > 0:20:20- We've just spent money with him.- Mm. - Yeah, yeah.

0:20:20 > 0:20:24Excuse me. Can we ask you about this ice bucket, please?

0:20:24 > 0:20:27- Keep smiling, Alison, keep smiling. - OK, I'll keep smiling.

0:20:27 > 0:20:28I'll keep smiling.

0:20:28 > 0:20:32- What's your def on that? - SELLER:- Well...- We know what it is.

0:20:32 > 0:20:35- We know it's a nice piece.- Yeah, that's the thing. It's...

0:20:35 > 0:20:37you don't see them every day, you know?

0:20:37 > 0:20:39But we really want to be in with a chance.

0:20:39 > 0:20:42It's got to go to auction, we've got to get two people there to buy it.

0:20:42 > 0:20:46I know but it's priced to go, but I will do it for 80.

0:20:47 > 0:20:49- What do you think? - What do you think?

0:20:49 > 0:20:50What do you reckon, Danny?

0:20:50 > 0:20:54I think, in London, you'd probably make a bit money on it.

0:20:54 > 0:20:57- We just need a couple of people there, really.- Will it be online?

0:20:57 > 0:20:59If it's online, people might see it and know what it is.

0:20:59 > 0:21:02- Good point.- That's true.- Yeah. - Fantastic point.- Yeah.- Yeah.

0:21:02 > 0:21:04So, and at that money...

0:21:04 > 0:21:07Is 80 the absolute, absolute def?

0:21:07 > 0:21:10- SELLER:- Would you like me to drop it under the 80 for you,

0:21:10 > 0:21:12- just under the 80?- Just be careful.

0:21:12 > 0:21:14- CHRIS:- Just to make it sound a bit nicer.

0:21:14 > 0:21:16- SELLER:- You mean 79? - CHRIS:- Yeah. What do you reckon?

0:21:16 > 0:21:19- What do you think? - I think that sounds...

0:21:19 > 0:21:21- He's a kind man, isn't he?- If he's a kind man, that's a good idea.

0:21:21 > 0:21:24- Right, shall we do it?- Are we making a deal?- I think we should.

0:21:24 > 0:21:25Thank you very much. Much appreciated.

0:21:25 > 0:21:29- SELLER:- You're welcome. Good luck. - Thank you very much. Thank you.

0:21:29 > 0:21:31- Danny. - Thank you very much. Lovely.

0:21:31 > 0:21:32Yay!

0:21:32 > 0:21:34Phew! The Reds were close to the wire but they did it.

0:21:34 > 0:21:36PHONE RINGS

0:21:36 > 0:21:38Well, the news just in - that time is up!

0:21:38 > 0:21:40Let's have a team hug.

0:21:40 > 0:21:43- Or a cocktail! - Even better, let's go. Come on.

0:21:43 > 0:21:46Let's see what the Red team bought.

0:21:46 > 0:21:50They picked up a wristwatch, price paid £35.

0:21:52 > 0:21:56The mid-century glass vase cost £28.

0:21:58 > 0:22:00And the teak ice bucket,

0:22:00 > 0:22:04will the buyers pour cold water over it or will it heat up the saleroom?

0:22:04 > 0:22:06They paid £79.

0:22:08 > 0:22:11It's 30 minutes before you made your first purchase.

0:22:11 > 0:22:14What took you so long?

0:22:14 > 0:22:17I've got to admit, I did feel a bit panicked towards the end.

0:22:17 > 0:22:20Yeah, well, I have to say that watching Danny there,

0:22:20 > 0:22:22I was amazed at his self-control.

0:22:22 > 0:22:27But when it comes to favourite buy today, Alison, what was it for you?

0:22:27 > 0:22:31It was the Danish ice bucket, the teak ice bucket.

0:22:31 > 0:22:33Are you in agreement with this one?

0:22:33 > 0:22:35Well, if you asked my family, they'll tell you

0:22:35 > 0:22:37that I won't go anywhere without buying a watch

0:22:37 > 0:22:40so I think my favourite is probably the watch.

0:22:40 > 0:22:42We just wish you'd been looking at yours, you know,

0:22:42 > 0:22:44- when you started the programme. - Possibly, yeah!

0:22:44 > 0:22:47When it comes to the biggest profit, where's it going to come from?

0:22:47 > 0:22:49I'm still going to go with the ice bucket.

0:22:49 > 0:22:51- I think that could do pretty well. Yeah.- All right.

0:22:51 > 0:22:55I'm agreeing with Alison there, I think the ice bucket's the one...

0:22:55 > 0:22:57if people pick up on what it actually is,

0:22:57 > 0:22:59it should make a healthy profit, I think.

0:22:59 > 0:23:02Well, I've totted it up, you've spent £142

0:23:02 > 0:23:04which means you owe me £158.

0:23:04 > 0:23:07- Yep, I've got it here. There's the notes.- Lovely.

0:23:07 > 0:23:12- And three coins there.- Three coins which are then going to be placed in

0:23:12 > 0:23:15- Mr Danny Sebastian's hand. - Thank you very much.

0:23:15 > 0:23:18- What are you going to spend it on? - I haven't got a clue!

0:23:18 > 0:23:20I've been hanging out with Chris and Alison too long,

0:23:20 > 0:23:23I've become indecisive. But I'll buy something.

0:23:23 > 0:23:25Well, I'm glad to hear it cos I used to be indecisive

0:23:25 > 0:23:28but now I'm not so sure.

0:23:28 > 0:23:30Well, in the meantime,

0:23:30 > 0:23:33let's remind ourselves what the Blue team bought today.

0:23:33 > 0:23:36Will the coffee spoons be a big hit with the buyers?

0:23:36 > 0:23:38Price paid, £15.

0:23:40 > 0:23:44They bought a George V silver magnifying glass for £60.

0:23:46 > 0:23:49And will the trumpet vase herald the bidders?

0:23:49 > 0:23:51Cost £20.

0:23:51 > 0:23:54Well, if I could find a song for you two to sing,

0:23:54 > 0:23:56it would be Hey Small Spender.

0:23:56 > 0:23:59I mean, you set out, "Oh, we're not going to spend much,"

0:23:59 > 0:24:01- and you kept it, didn't you?- Yes.

0:24:01 > 0:24:04I mean, didn't you get encouragement from a man who knows better?

0:24:04 > 0:24:08- We thought we'd leave more money for the man who knows better.- Yes.

0:24:08 > 0:24:10Well, you've certainly done that today.

0:24:10 > 0:24:12But of the items that you've bought,

0:24:12 > 0:24:14Louise, which do you think is your favourite?

0:24:14 > 0:24:17I think my favourite is the large magnifying glass.

0:24:17 > 0:24:20- OK.- Yeah.- What about yourself, Lisa?

0:24:20 > 0:24:23- I like the set of spoons... - The set of spoons.- ..I think.

0:24:23 > 0:24:25Right, OK. But what about the item

0:24:25 > 0:24:28that's going to give you the biggest profit?

0:24:28 > 0:24:30- We bought this vase, a trumpet vase.- Yes.

0:24:30 > 0:24:33- I think that'll give us the biggest profit.- Yes.

0:24:33 > 0:24:36Cos it's quite nice and we didn't pay a huge amount for it.

0:24:36 > 0:24:38Well, you didn't pay a huge amount for anything, really,

0:24:38 > 0:24:40- did you, let's be honest? - We paid less for the vase, yeah!

0:24:40 > 0:24:43- And you're in agreement on that? - Yes, I think that'll make profit.

0:24:43 > 0:24:44Well, you spent £95

0:24:44 > 0:24:48- so that means £205 is going to be placed in my hand.- I have that.

0:24:48 > 0:24:51OK. Which I'm now going to give to JP.

0:24:51 > 0:24:53- Thank you very much.- Anything out there that you've spotted

0:24:53 > 0:24:55that you think you're going to go for?

0:24:55 > 0:24:57Well, the ladies said at the start

0:24:57 > 0:24:59that they want to have something that was, was it old,

0:24:59 > 0:25:01expensive and useful? But you were busy.

0:25:01 > 0:25:04- But I'll find something, I'm sure. - Cheeky monkey.

0:25:04 > 0:25:07Well, while Jonathan goes off to try and spend that money,

0:25:07 > 0:25:10we're going to the auction which is just down the road.

0:25:21 > 0:25:24Well, we're now in Etwall and if you don't know where that is,

0:25:24 > 0:25:27it's in south Derbyshire because we are at Hansons

0:25:27 > 0:25:29with the very man himself, Charles Hanson.

0:25:29 > 0:25:31- Thank you, Eric. Good to see you. - Good to be here.

0:25:31 > 0:25:34- Let's get down to business with our Red team.- Yes.

0:25:34 > 0:25:35- Alison and Chris.- Yes.

0:25:35 > 0:25:40Their first item is the Rotary watch which is in its original box.

0:25:40 > 0:25:43- Yes.- Which is a bit of a giveaway for age, don't you think?

0:25:43 > 0:25:47It is a giveaway for age and almost you want a Rotary wristwatch

0:25:47 > 0:25:50- which just maybe extends into that word vintage.- Mm.

0:25:50 > 0:25:54- Rather than being maybe 1970s, 1980s, if not '90s.- Yes.

0:25:54 > 0:25:58- And I think it is the latter.- Yes. - Yeah, I like it, it's chunky

0:25:58 > 0:26:01- but, really, that's as far as it goes.- OK. Estimate?

0:26:01 > 0:26:03Between £20-£30.

0:26:03 > 0:26:06- OK.- Yes.- Well, they paid £35 for it. - OK.

0:26:06 > 0:26:09- So they're not a mile away, are they?- No, no.- OK.

0:26:09 > 0:26:12- Second item is the rather interesting...- Yes.

0:26:12 > 0:26:15- ..decorative glass vase. - Yes, yes.

0:26:15 > 0:26:18- And I'm not really a retro man, more of an antique man.- Mm.

0:26:18 > 0:26:21I like the old-fashioned, but I can appreciate style.

0:26:21 > 0:26:25I can appreciate objects which have almost that Italianate appearance.

0:26:25 > 0:26:27It's very organic.

0:26:27 > 0:26:29- But I don't quite believe it. - In other words you're thinking

0:26:29 > 0:26:33it would not speak to you with an Italian accent.

0:26:33 > 0:26:35No, no, it wouldn't be a, "Ciao Bella".

0:26:35 > 0:26:38I think you might be suggesting that it might speak to you in Mandarin.

0:26:38 > 0:26:42It might speak to me and say "Ni hao," hello in Chinese.

0:26:42 > 0:26:45- Is that right?- I do believe it could be a Chinese import,

0:26:45 > 0:26:47maybe no more than 20 years old.

0:26:47 > 0:26:49So the estimate there?

0:26:49 > 0:26:53- Between £20-£30. - Well, they paid £28 for it.

0:26:53 > 0:26:55OK, well, onto their third and final item

0:26:55 > 0:26:58which just happens to be their favourite item,

0:26:58 > 0:27:02it's described as a mid-century ice bucket

0:27:02 > 0:27:05- by a Danish designer called Jens Quistgaard.- Yes, yes.

0:27:05 > 0:27:07And it's almost, unlike the previous object,

0:27:07 > 0:27:10this is true to its period.

0:27:10 > 0:27:14This is 1950s and the way that that Scandinavian design

0:27:14 > 0:27:17came together, this epitomises that.

0:27:17 > 0:27:21This great designer Quistgaard, cos I'm Danish historically,

0:27:21 > 0:27:23- you know, Hanson comes from... - Is that?- It is so...

0:27:23 > 0:27:27- What a rapid learning curve I'm on. - So... Thank you.

0:27:27 > 0:27:31So I have a relation to this and I do think it is so evocative

0:27:31 > 0:27:34and that's important in the collectors market today.

0:27:34 > 0:27:37- So with that pedigree...- Yes. - ..what's your estimate?

0:27:37 > 0:27:43Between £50-£70 but I do feel if the online buyers get behind it...

0:27:43 > 0:27:47- Yes.- ..it could do quite well.- Good, cos they paid 79 for it

0:27:47 > 0:27:50but, you know, we both know when it comes to mid-century design,

0:27:50 > 0:27:53- it's quite often in a designer's name.- Exactly that.

0:27:53 > 0:27:55So it's got the right credentials.

0:27:55 > 0:27:58Well, it's obviously all in the balance so it looks like

0:27:58 > 0:28:01they may need their bonus buy so let's have a look at it.

0:28:01 > 0:28:04Well, Reds, Alison and Chris, it's bonus buy time.

0:28:04 > 0:28:10I was able to give Danny £158 of what you didn't spend.

0:28:10 > 0:28:12Danny, it looks like you bought big, yes?

0:28:12 > 0:28:13- Sure have.- You sure have.

0:28:13 > 0:28:15Would you like me to help you do the reveal?

0:28:15 > 0:28:17- You're going to have to, my hands are tied.- Are you ready?

0:28:17 > 0:28:18One, two, three.

0:28:20 > 0:28:21Oh, nice.

0:28:21 > 0:28:24I got it at quite a good price, to be honest.

0:28:24 > 0:28:26I think it's quite commercial as well.

0:28:26 > 0:28:29You know, it's quite what people want nowadays,

0:28:29 > 0:28:32nice polished steel and when you reveal inside,

0:28:32 > 0:28:35there's six lovely drawers.

0:28:35 > 0:28:36That's nice, I like that.

0:28:36 > 0:28:39So, yeah, the big question is, how much was it?

0:28:39 > 0:28:41- £68, I paid.- That's not bad.- Right.

0:28:41 > 0:28:43And I think there's plenty of room there for profit.

0:28:43 > 0:28:46What do you reckon? How much do you expect out of that?

0:28:46 > 0:28:49I think we should be able to manage £80-£100 in auction.

0:28:49 > 0:28:52Cool, I like it. Yeah, what do you think? I like it.

0:28:52 > 0:28:55- I'm undecided at this point. - A bit of doubt, a bit doubt there!

0:28:55 > 0:28:56Just a bit of doubt there.

0:28:56 > 0:28:59Not patternised enough for you, is it?

0:28:59 > 0:29:01"Not patternised?"

0:29:01 > 0:29:04Well, remember, you don't have decide just now though.

0:29:04 > 0:29:08But either way, let's go and find out what Charles thinks

0:29:08 > 0:29:10about Danny's bonus buy.

0:29:10 > 0:29:13So, Danny went out and got this particular bonus buy,

0:29:13 > 0:29:16as you can see, it's a filing cabinet of sorts, in metal.

0:29:16 > 0:29:20It looks very industrial but that's something of a buzzword these days,

0:29:20 > 0:29:24- isn't it?- It is. I just feel it's something which maybe

0:29:24 > 0:29:26when we look at the regions of our great country,

0:29:26 > 0:29:30it's almost more suited to maybe north London, east London.

0:29:30 > 0:29:31We'll will do our best with it.

0:29:31 > 0:29:34We're live online, we will let the market see it worldwide.

0:29:34 > 0:29:38- Bu I'm just slightly concerned it might just struggle.- OK.

0:29:38 > 0:29:42Well, after that, Charles, come on, knock me out with your estimate.

0:29:42 > 0:29:43- Between £20-£30.- OK.

0:29:43 > 0:29:46Well, Danny went and paid £68.

0:29:46 > 0:29:49- I think que sera sera, what will be will be.- Indeed.

0:29:49 > 0:29:52So what will be with our Blue team's buys?

0:29:52 > 0:29:54There they are, Louise and Lisa.

0:29:54 > 0:29:58And their first item is the set of six coffee spoons

0:29:58 > 0:29:59in a fitted case.

0:29:59 > 0:30:02I mean, they're just attractive, aren't they?

0:30:02 > 0:30:04They've got that sort of jazz look,

0:30:04 > 0:30:07they're probably late '20s, '30s maybe.

0:30:07 > 0:30:10If you enjoy a coffee and you're quite trendy,

0:30:10 > 0:30:12have a bean with a colour on top.

0:30:12 > 0:30:14So, really, although they're plated, you can't go wrong.

0:30:14 > 0:30:17- OK, estimate?- £10-£15.

0:30:17 > 0:30:19- OK, they paid £15 for it.- OK.

0:30:19 > 0:30:21- So, you know, we're in the right direction there.- We are.

0:30:21 > 0:30:25Item number two is the magnifying glass.

0:30:25 > 0:30:28- Yes. Yes. By a nice maker.- OK.

0:30:28 > 0:30:31Deakin & Francis, they were formed in around 1786.

0:30:31 > 0:30:36- What I like about this magnifying glass is it's a big glass.- Mm.

0:30:36 > 0:30:40And it's got a lovely almost organic foliate handle.

0:30:40 > 0:30:43It's quite decorative and rather than have it in your pocket,

0:30:43 > 0:30:45you might have it on your sideboard

0:30:45 > 0:30:47to admire your connoisseur's collection of whatever.

0:30:47 > 0:30:50- Or maybe your stamps. - Indeed, or your stamps, yeah.

0:30:50 > 0:30:52OK, so what's the going rate here in south Derbyshire?

0:30:52 > 0:30:56Well, Eric, we put a guide price on of between £40-£60.

0:30:56 > 0:30:59OK, well, again, you know, they're in with a chance

0:30:59 > 0:31:01cos they paid £60 for it.

0:31:01 > 0:31:04- I'm always quite cautious. - You are?- Yes.- Good.

0:31:04 > 0:31:06- OK, well, no bad thing.- No.

0:31:06 > 0:31:10The third item is down as an Edwardian trumpet vase

0:31:10 > 0:31:13but maybe it could just be very late Victorian.

0:31:13 > 0:31:16It could be I think, Eric, with those fern leaves

0:31:16 > 0:31:19and different plants on that lovely glass spill vase,

0:31:19 > 0:31:23it could be circa 1895, give or take five or ten years.

0:31:23 > 0:31:24It's just nicely done.

0:31:24 > 0:31:26It's quite old-fashioned though.

0:31:26 > 0:31:28Either way, what did you go with the estimate?

0:31:28 > 0:31:30Well, I've been quite gung ho

0:31:30 > 0:31:33because I think it's a good statement object,

0:31:33 > 0:31:36as an antique, it is an antique, between £40-£60.

0:31:36 > 0:31:39Well, they paid £20 for it so with an estimate of 40-60,

0:31:39 > 0:31:42- I think their optimism is quite well founded.- Yes.

0:31:42 > 0:31:47So, let's now take a look at the Blue's bonus buy.

0:31:47 > 0:31:53You did spend £95 which meant that I could give Jonathan here £205

0:31:53 > 0:31:56to go out and find something that little bit special.

0:31:56 > 0:31:58Reveal all, Jonathan.

0:31:58 > 0:32:00- Any ideas?- Yes.

0:32:01 > 0:32:04Right, OK. Well, there we are, look.

0:32:04 > 0:32:05I really like this.

0:32:05 > 0:32:08This sort of thing strikes me as being a proper antique.

0:32:08 > 0:32:10Early 19th century meat plate.

0:32:10 > 0:32:12It's a Spode pattern this Bridge of Lucano

0:32:12 > 0:32:15and it's not a very, very straightforward, basic pattern,

0:32:15 > 0:32:18it is actually a slightly more academic pattern,

0:32:18 > 0:32:21but it's not the rarest. So, most importantly though, do you like it?

0:32:21 > 0:32:23Yes, I do like it.

0:32:23 > 0:32:27I like it depending on how much it will make.

0:32:27 > 0:32:29Well, you spent £95 on all three items,

0:32:29 > 0:32:31I bought this for £95.

0:32:31 > 0:32:34And do you think you can sell it for...?

0:32:34 > 0:32:36I reckon it's worth £120-150.

0:32:36 > 0:32:39Oh, good. I like it!

0:32:39 > 0:32:40She's gone, "Kerching!"

0:32:40 > 0:32:44- I would be very, very disappointed if there's no profit in it.- Right.

0:32:44 > 0:32:46Well, for what it's worth, I like it as well,

0:32:46 > 0:32:51but let's find out if Charles likes it as much as we all like it.

0:32:51 > 0:32:53Right, here is the bonus buy.

0:32:53 > 0:32:55This is what Jonathan went out and purchased.

0:32:55 > 0:32:59You always wonder, Eric, who has cut the meat on there.

0:32:59 > 0:33:02Hey, listen, we are talking the eve of Waterloo

0:33:02 > 0:33:06- with something like this. - Exactly. It's circa 1820.

0:33:06 > 0:33:09It's very much in that Spode tradition and I just love it, Eric.

0:33:09 > 0:33:11I think it's a lovely object.

0:33:11 > 0:33:14So when it comes to the estimate, what are we talking here

0:33:14 > 0:33:16in South Derbyshire?

0:33:16 > 0:33:19Eric, I hope the juices will drip off this. I've gone in quite bold.

0:33:19 > 0:33:22- Yep?- 100-150. - Oh, I think that's fair.- Good.

0:33:22 > 0:33:28I think that's very fair and I think at £95 it was a reasonable spend.

0:33:28 > 0:33:30- I think it was money well spent. - I agree.

0:33:30 > 0:33:33Good, and so it's auction time

0:33:33 > 0:33:36and today Charles's handed the reins over to auctioneer Isabel Balmer.

0:33:39 > 0:33:41OK, Alison and Chris, how are we feeling, dare I ask?

0:33:41 > 0:33:44- Fine.- Fine.- I've got the Geoff Hurst of the Antiques World here.

0:33:44 > 0:33:47- We're going to get a hat-trick with bonuses.- Oh, is that right?

0:33:47 > 0:33:49I'm very nervous. There's a lot playing on this.

0:33:49 > 0:33:50There's a lot playing on this.

0:33:50 > 0:33:53Hey, listen, you're here to enjoy yourselves, isn't that right?

0:33:53 > 0:33:56The first lot's coming up. It's the gentleman's Rotary wristwatch.

0:33:56 > 0:33:59You paid £35 for it. It's coming up now.

0:33:59 > 0:34:03Lot 94 - it's our Rotary wristwatch.

0:34:03 > 0:34:08It's a gorgeous wristwatch this one and what shall we say?

0:34:08 > 0:34:09Just £20 to start on this one.

0:34:09 > 0:34:12- 20 is bid straight in. Where's 2 now?- Straight in!- £20.
