0:00:05 > 0:00:08Today we're in Exeter, and this is Gandy Street.

0:00:11 > 0:00:15Its narrow passages and cobbled pavement was the inspiration for

0:00:15 > 0:00:18JK Rowling's Diagon Alley in her Harry Potter novels.

0:00:18 > 0:00:23A shopping street for young wizards and witches where they can buy magic

0:00:23 > 0:00:25wands, Quidditch game accessories,

0:00:25 > 0:00:28weird and wonderful creatures and of course, magical robes.

0:00:30 > 0:00:33But today I'm looking for magic of a different kind.

0:00:33 > 0:00:37There is an antiques fair just up the road, so let's go Bargain Hunting.

0:01:04 > 0:01:05Whoa!

0:01:05 > 0:01:07Just like that, magic.

0:01:07 > 0:01:09Right, down to business.

0:01:09 > 0:01:13We're here at Westpoint Arena in Exeter to see if our two teams

0:01:13 > 0:01:16can buy three profit-making items

0:01:16 > 0:01:17with their ?300.

0:01:17 > 0:01:19So, let's have a look at what's coming up.

0:01:21 > 0:01:23The Reds have a clear game plan.

0:01:23 > 0:01:25We pretty much know what we want, we've just got to find it.

0:01:28 > 0:01:30And the Blues know what they DON'T want.

0:01:30 > 0:01:32It's vile. It's horrible.

0:01:32 > 0:01:35I don't really like it. Move on. Move on. Move on.

0:01:35 > 0:01:37But at auction, the Reds get needy.

0:01:37 > 0:01:40Come on! A bit of profit. We need more than that, though.

0:01:42 > 0:01:43And the Blues get cheeky.

0:01:43 > 0:01:45Give us 45 and I'll give you a kiss.

0:01:45 > 0:01:47Come on!

0:01:47 > 0:01:48But that's all coming up later.

0:01:48 > 0:01:53First, it's time to meet our teams, and today it's a family affair on

0:01:53 > 0:01:54Bargain Hunt. For the Reds,

0:01:54 > 0:01:58we have sisters Cindy and Chrissy and for the Blues, mother and son

0:01:58 > 0:02:00Katie and Josh. Welcome everyone, hello.

0:02:00 > 0:02:01ALL: Hello!

0:02:01 > 0:02:03So, Chrissy, let's start with you.

0:02:03 > 0:02:06Tell me, you are quite literally a high flyer, aren't you?

0:02:06 > 0:02:10I am cabin crew, yes, so yes, I'm in the sky a lot.

0:02:10 > 0:02:15We don't stay away, we always come back to base, but I do lots of flights.

0:02:15 > 0:02:16I've been doing it for about 30 years.

0:02:16 > 0:02:1830 years? Yes. Oh, wow.

0:02:18 > 0:02:21I started from Luton and now I'm at Manchester.

0:02:21 > 0:02:23What do you do when you're not up in the air,

0:02:23 > 0:02:24how do you spend your spare time?

0:02:24 > 0:02:27I like gardening and I'm obsessed with crosswords.

0:02:27 > 0:02:28I do about ten a day.

0:02:28 > 0:02:32Ten a day? I go online and go back, so I'm about 1996 now.

0:02:32 > 0:02:34So, how's your vocabulary?

0:02:34 > 0:02:35Just unbelievable?

0:02:35 > 0:02:36Yes, fabulous.

0:02:36 > 0:02:38Now, Cindy, what about yourself?

0:02:38 > 0:02:41You're not up in the air, but you're on terra firma,

0:02:41 > 0:02:44so what's your career? Well, I'm retired actually,

0:02:44 > 0:02:48but I used to work at a GP practice years ago for about 26 years.

0:02:48 > 0:02:49For the same practice? Yeah.

0:02:49 > 0:02:52A lot of the patients used to come into me and say,

0:02:52 > 0:02:55"I've got this wrong, but I daren't tell the doctor."

0:02:55 > 0:02:59So I used to go into the doctor and he'd be like this, "What now?"

0:02:59 > 0:03:04And I used to sort of, "Could you just suggest this to the patient because he might be too shy

0:03:04 > 0:03:07"to mention it?" It was quite cute actually.

0:03:07 > 0:03:08I loved it, I really loved my job.

0:03:08 > 0:03:10So they obviously put a lot of trust in you.

0:03:10 > 0:03:14I do miss it but getting old so I just wanted to get my hiking boots on

0:03:14 > 0:03:16and get out there walking on the cliffs.

0:03:16 > 0:03:18Tell me about antiques,

0:03:18 > 0:03:19what's your knowledge of them?

0:03:19 > 0:03:21Do you have a collection at home?

0:03:21 > 0:03:24I've got a tiny little collection of Lalique that my husband has bought me

0:03:24 > 0:03:26over the years. Tiny little pieces.

0:03:26 > 0:03:28How tiny is the collection?

0:03:28 > 0:03:30Three! Chrissy, you used to live in Barcelona, didn't you?

0:03:30 > 0:03:33I did. When you were there, did you ever go out hunting for bargains?

0:03:33 > 0:03:34Always, yeah.

0:03:34 > 0:03:38Always. Picked up a few lamps, actually, which I love.

0:03:38 > 0:03:41Oh, cool. I like lots of different things, to be honest.

0:03:41 > 0:03:44A bit eclectic. How do you reckon you're going to work as a team together?

0:03:44 > 0:03:46Sisters, there's a good bond there.

0:03:46 > 0:03:47Do you think you'll be a brilliant team?

0:03:47 > 0:03:48Good teamwork.

0:03:48 > 0:03:51We do like the same things so hopefully we'll find something together.

0:03:51 > 0:03:54You'll get on a treat? We will. Yeah, we will, hopefully.

0:03:55 > 0:03:59Yes, famous last words! Now, let's move on to the Blues.

0:03:59 > 0:04:03So, Katie, starting with you, tell me, how do you spend every day?

0:04:03 > 0:04:07I currently work for EDP which is a substance misuse charity, and I'm based

0:04:07 > 0:04:09in a local prison. Right, OK.

0:04:09 > 0:04:13So, I'm admin lead so I have to do monthly reports and things like that.

0:04:13 > 0:04:15I really enjoy it,

0:04:15 > 0:04:18it's just nice being part of someone's recovery journey and making a difference to someone.

0:04:18 > 0:04:21Absolutely. How did you get into that because it's quite niche?

0:04:21 > 0:04:24I've always had a thing for prisons, and when I saw the job advertised,

0:04:24 > 0:04:28I thought, "That'll be interesting," so I applied and I've been there nearly three-and-a half years.

0:04:28 > 0:04:32When you're not playing this important role in the prison, what you do in your spare time?

0:04:32 > 0:04:36Back at the end of May we were out on Dartmoor, and I saw some people horse riding and I thought,

0:04:36 > 0:04:39"Oh, that looks really good. "Really easy as well," I thought, "I'm going to book a lesson,"

0:04:39 > 0:04:42so I did and it's the hardest thing I've ever, ever done.

0:04:42 > 0:04:46Hardest thing you've ever done? But a little birdie tells me you're setting yourself a challenge?

0:04:46 > 0:04:49I'm going to be in Tokyo 2020!

0:04:49 > 0:04:51Is that a guarantee? No.

0:04:51 > 0:04:54No, probably 3020, maybe!

0:04:54 > 0:04:57Now Josh, we hear clearly that Mum loves animals, so tell me,

0:04:57 > 0:05:00you and your siblings, you're not the only children in your mum's lives?

0:05:00 > 0:05:03No, she has three dogs that she calls her special children,

0:05:03 > 0:05:06which she probably treats better than us.

0:05:06 > 0:05:07They're pretty special names?

0:05:07 > 0:05:09Well, we have two Bichon Frises.

0:05:09 > 0:05:11One is called Fifi Fluff Puff.

0:05:11 > 0:05:14The other is called Soap McTavish. And then we have a Yorkie-poo who's

0:05:14 > 0:05:17called Nelson. He doesn't have a surname?

0:05:17 > 0:05:20Nelsy Noo. Oh, Nelsy Noo, of course, sure, sure.

0:05:20 > 0:05:23So, tell me, you're quite a numbers man.

0:05:23 > 0:05:25Tell me how you got into that.

0:05:25 > 0:05:28I started accountancy when I was 14...

0:05:28 > 0:05:31Really? ..with a week's work experience and kind of never left since.

0:05:31 > 0:05:36So you're going to have no trouble when you're at the fair with the ?300. You're in charge of the money?

0:05:36 > 0:05:38Yeah. Or else Mum would just spend it all!

0:05:39 > 0:05:41So, how do you think you're going to be as a team?

0:05:41 > 0:05:43We're quite competitive, aren't we?

0:05:43 > 0:05:45Yes, and impulsive as well. Yeah.

0:05:45 > 0:05:47We're in it to win it, though.

0:05:47 > 0:05:48Golden Gavel in our sights.

0:05:48 > 0:05:51Golden Gavel for sure. So as well as a gold medal, you're after a Gold Gavel.

0:05:51 > 0:05:54Yeah, there's a golden theme, isn't there? So, yeah.

0:05:54 > 0:05:57OK, so in order to go shopping, you're going to need some money.

0:05:57 > 0:05:59So, ?300 for you, Reds.

0:05:59 > 0:06:02And ?300 for you, Blues.

0:06:02 > 0:06:05Your experts can't wait to meet you and the fair is open so off you go and

0:06:05 > 0:06:07have great fun.

0:06:07 > 0:06:09Well, it's a family affair today.

0:06:09 > 0:06:12Let's hope they're all talking to one another after the shop.

0:06:13 > 0:06:15Time to meet our experts today.

0:06:16 > 0:06:18He's putting his thinking cap on.

0:06:18 > 0:06:19Danny Sebastian joins the Reds.

0:06:21 > 0:06:25Around the world in 60 minutes with the Blues, it's Gary Pe.

0:06:26 > 0:06:28What are you looking for today, Cindy?

0:06:28 > 0:06:30I'd like to look for perfume bottles.

0:06:30 > 0:06:33Lovely glass cylinders with a bit of silver on it.

0:06:33 > 0:06:35I think we're just going to wing it.

0:06:35 > 0:06:38We'd quite like something that's hideous.

0:06:38 > 0:06:41I like glassware. Obviously Lalique.

0:06:42 > 0:06:44Maybe something classy. There you go, I like that.

0:06:44 > 0:06:46We'd quite like to blow the budget.

0:06:46 > 0:06:47Oh, that's even better.

0:06:47 > 0:06:49WHISTLE

0:06:49 > 0:06:50Your 60 minutes start now.

0:06:50 > 0:06:52Let's go! Let's go.

0:06:52 > 0:06:53Let's go and see what we can find.

0:06:53 > 0:06:55Off you go then, teams.

0:06:55 > 0:06:56Best of luck.

0:06:56 > 0:06:57Keep your eyes open.

0:06:57 > 0:06:58There's plenty here.

0:06:58 > 0:07:00See if there's anything that sticks out.

0:07:01 > 0:07:02Within a minute,

0:07:02 > 0:07:05Gary is already shaking things up with some miniature silver.

0:07:06 > 0:07:08What is it? They're pepper shakers.

0:07:08 > 0:07:11They are quite pretty.

0:07:11 > 0:07:14They're tiny. I suspect they're a picnic set.

0:07:14 > 0:07:20Sterling. That, at least guarantees a 925 out of 1,000 content of silver.

0:07:20 > 0:07:24OK. They're not hallmarked so that means they're probably American.

0:07:25 > 0:07:27They're in the original case.

0:07:29 > 0:07:30I like them. Do you like them?

0:07:30 > 0:07:32?65. 65.

0:07:32 > 0:07:38Think of this, six of you on a warm summer's day in a nice field and you

0:07:38 > 0:07:40take these out of your picnic basket.

0:07:40 > 0:07:44I'm not posh enough. Well, your friends would think you are,

0:07:44 > 0:07:46if you brought these out!

0:07:46 > 0:07:50So if they went to auction, how much do you think they would get?

0:07:50 > 0:07:54I'd like to think that they would make ?60 to ?80.

0:07:54 > 0:07:57OK, so we'd need to get the price down a little bit.

0:07:57 > 0:08:00A little bit. We could do that. You say they're in the original box. Yes.

0:08:00 > 0:08:01It's a bit tatty, is that going to hurt?

0:08:01 > 0:08:03That means they're old.

0:08:03 > 0:08:05Do I look tatty then?

0:08:05 > 0:08:06THEY LAUGH

0:08:06 > 0:08:07Oh, careful, Gary!

0:08:09 > 0:08:11So they've hardly been used, almost good as new.

0:08:11 > 0:08:13Is it something someone is likely to buy?

0:08:13 > 0:08:15Are they collectable? I think we should have a go. OK.

0:08:15 > 0:08:18Right, ready to negotiate, Blues?

0:08:18 > 0:08:22Josh, you're the numbers guy, so do your best.

0:08:22 > 0:08:25We see they're marked up at ?65 but we were thinking maybe more

0:08:25 > 0:08:2930. We're going to try our best.

0:08:29 > 0:08:31I wasn't thinking 30.

0:08:32 > 0:08:34I've got them marked at 65.

0:08:34 > 0:08:37I'd be thinking closer to 50. 45.

0:08:40 > 0:08:42What about 48? And then if it makes...

0:08:42 > 0:08:4346.

0:08:45 > 0:08:47You're pushing on that. OK, 46.

0:08:47 > 0:08:48OK, you've got yourself a deal.

0:08:48 > 0:08:51We'll shake on it. OK. Thank you very much. Thank you.

0:08:51 > 0:08:54Great teamwork, Blues, and so quick, too.

0:08:54 > 0:08:56A first buy in under five minutes.

0:08:56 > 0:09:00Six silver pepperpots for ?46.

0:09:00 > 0:09:01I think we've found our classy item.

0:09:01 > 0:09:04Yeah. Now for the second requirement,

0:09:04 > 0:09:06I think we'll go for the hideous one.

0:09:06 > 0:09:08While the Blues continue their search,

0:09:08 > 0:09:10the Reds are focused on their wish list, too.

0:09:10 > 0:09:12All right, they... I don't actually...

0:09:12 > 0:09:15I don't really know much about Austrian.

0:09:15 > 0:09:18Well, Austrian's great. It's very respected in the antique world.

0:09:18 > 0:09:20Is it? A bit more for, sort of, in the bronze,

0:09:20 > 0:09:24but these are nice pieces, circa 1900. OK.

0:09:24 > 0:09:26Do you like the colour of the glass as well?

0:09:26 > 0:09:27I like all of it, yeah.

0:09:27 > 0:09:29Which shall we have? I like both.

0:09:29 > 0:09:32Obviously that's less money. Yes.

0:09:32 > 0:09:34This one is about ?50 more,

0:09:34 > 0:09:36but there seems to be a lot more going on.

0:09:36 > 0:09:38I'm sure he'll be able to knock off a little bit.

0:09:38 > 0:09:41Shall we ask him the best prices on there? Best price on there?

0:09:41 > 0:09:44The vendor's here. Oh, hi. Let's have a chat with him.

0:09:44 > 0:09:46Just wondered if you could tell us the best price

0:09:46 > 0:09:48on this vase here, please?

0:09:51 > 0:09:53We don't know an awful lot about it, apart from

0:09:53 > 0:09:54the fact that it is Austrian.

0:09:54 > 0:09:58It's overlaid, and then it has these wonderful glass cabochons

0:09:58 > 0:10:00around the edge there, and if you look through that,

0:10:00 > 0:10:02it's a beautiful piece. That is a beautiful piece.

0:10:02 > 0:10:05There's no make on it at all.

0:10:05 > 0:10:06It's been smoothed out.

0:10:06 > 0:10:09The pontil mark, that's been... Oh, I see, smoothed out.

0:10:09 > 0:10:12It's a little bit later because it's been actually ground out.

0:10:12 > 0:10:14Right, OK, and the other ones are quite pretty. Yeah.

0:10:14 > 0:10:17But you like this one and I think it's lovely. I like both, actually.

0:10:17 > 0:10:20So your best price? That'll be 150.

0:10:20 > 0:10:22That one, I'd do that for 100.

0:10:23 > 0:10:25And they're in perfect condition? They're in perfect condition.

0:10:25 > 0:10:28We have fallen in love with them, Chris, haven't we?

0:10:28 > 0:10:30If it was you, which one would you go for?

0:10:30 > 0:10:33I probably would go for the grander piece, the bigger piece. Yes.

0:10:33 > 0:10:35It's got some stones in it. It's just a bit bigger.

0:10:35 > 0:10:37It's a bit more decorative.

0:10:37 > 0:10:39Chris, shall we go for that, darling, then,

0:10:39 > 0:10:40just, and go for the...?

0:10:40 > 0:10:42It is stunning. 150, you say?

0:10:42 > 0:10:45Yeah, I'll do it for 150. Yes? We'll go for that that?

0:10:45 > 0:10:46Shake the man's hand. Yeah. Yay.

0:10:46 > 0:10:48Thank you very much. OK, pleasure.

0:10:48 > 0:10:50Thank you. I'll have one as well.

0:10:50 > 0:10:52Yup. No problem.

0:10:52 > 0:10:53Decisive Cindy.

0:10:53 > 0:10:54Well done, Reds.

0:10:54 > 0:10:56?150 for your first buy

0:10:56 > 0:10:59and the glass item can now be ticked off your list.

0:10:59 > 0:11:02Ten minutes and we've bought our first buy. I know!

0:11:02 > 0:11:03That's precisely how I like it -

0:11:03 > 0:11:06women that know what they want and go for it.

0:11:06 > 0:11:08The Blues, in the meantime,

0:11:08 > 0:11:10are on the hunt for the hideous, apparently.

0:11:10 > 0:11:13HMS Bunnykins!

0:11:13 > 0:11:15What is that?

0:11:15 > 0:11:17That does look like something you would find

0:11:17 > 0:11:18on somebody's mantelpiece.

0:11:18 > 0:11:20I think that fulfils the requirement.

0:11:21 > 0:11:24Are they collectable? Immensely.

0:11:24 > 0:11:25OK...

0:11:25 > 0:11:26HE LAUGHS

0:11:26 > 0:11:30These animals, bunnies...

0:11:30 > 0:11:34Yeah. ..are produced by the Royal Doulton factory,

0:11:34 > 0:11:38and they were produced, I think, from the 1970s until today,

0:11:38 > 0:11:41and they look fantastic as a set.

0:11:41 > 0:11:46And if you could buy them with that ship,

0:11:46 > 0:11:49then I think there's a chance of a profit,

0:11:49 > 0:11:51if the price is right.

0:11:51 > 0:11:53Shall we find out what the price is?

0:11:53 > 0:11:55Yes? Go on, then.

0:11:55 > 0:12:01If bought individually, they total ?120, but Gary has other ideas.

0:12:01 > 0:12:05What would you offer for the whole set?

0:12:05 > 0:12:08I'd have to confer.

0:12:08 > 0:12:11Because I think, I mean, they have to go as a set, don't they?

0:12:11 > 0:12:13Yeah...

0:12:13 > 0:12:16The ship provides the stage and the setting for this. That's right.

0:12:16 > 0:12:20While the lady figures out a total price for the ship and crew,

0:12:20 > 0:12:23the Blues are growing more attached to the little family.

0:12:23 > 0:12:27We've got Mr Bunnykins, Mrs Bunnykins, Brother Bunnykins,

0:12:27 > 0:12:30Sister Bunnykins, Uncle Bunnykins and Auntie Bunnykins.

0:12:30 > 0:12:32And if we don't get it, I'll be hopping mad!

0:12:34 > 0:12:36Well, don't go hopping off too soon -

0:12:36 > 0:12:38the stallholder is back.

0:12:38 > 0:12:4070 for the lot.

0:12:40 > 0:12:4270 for the lot. ?70 for everything.

0:12:42 > 0:12:44I think that is a very fair price.

0:12:44 > 0:12:45Do you think? I think so.

0:12:45 > 0:12:48Can you come any lower? 65?

0:12:48 > 0:12:50I don't think I can, I'm sorry.

0:12:50 > 0:12:5369? Just in case it, sort of...

0:12:53 > 0:12:5469.

0:12:54 > 0:12:5669, shall we have a deal, Josh?

0:12:56 > 0:12:5869, I think we've got a deal. We'll go for that.

0:12:58 > 0:13:00We've done it. Thank you. Thank you very much.

0:13:00 > 0:13:04A second item ticked off their list in 15 minutes.

0:13:04 > 0:13:05You're doing well, Blues.

0:13:05 > 0:13:09?69 for a set of Royal Doulton Bunnykins.

0:13:09 > 0:13:11Now, while the teams carry on with their shopping,

0:13:11 > 0:13:14I've hopped off to hear more about a local collection that might have

0:13:14 > 0:13:16cost an arm and a leg.

0:13:23 > 0:13:28These are all creations of a local Victorian pioneer, James Gillingham,

0:13:28 > 0:13:31and they all form part of an exhibit on display just down the road at

0:13:31 > 0:13:33Chard Museum. Now, joining me,

0:13:33 > 0:13:37representing the museum is local district Councillor Amanda Broom.

0:13:37 > 0:13:40Amanda, thank you for joining us here at Westpoint.

0:13:40 > 0:13:42So, tell me more about this local pioneer.

0:13:42 > 0:13:45James Gillingham was a local bootmaker in Chard

0:13:45 > 0:13:48and his career took a very unusual path

0:13:48 > 0:13:51when a gentleman called Will Singleton called on his shop,

0:13:51 > 0:13:52the Golden Boot.

0:13:52 > 0:13:54Three years earlier in 1863,

0:13:54 > 0:13:59Will Singleton was priming a cannon when it accidentally exploded.

0:13:59 > 0:14:02The result of that was that his right arm was completely shattered,

0:14:02 > 0:14:05and surgeons had no choice but to remove the whole of his arm,

0:14:05 > 0:14:07right up to the shoulder.

0:14:07 > 0:14:09Now, of course, technology back then,

0:14:09 > 0:14:11with the wooden prosthetic limbs,

0:14:11 > 0:14:15meant they couldn't fit anything to his arm, so he went into the shop

0:14:15 > 0:14:17and he had this conversation with James Gillingham.

0:14:17 > 0:14:19Now, what James did, because he was a bootmaker,

0:14:19 > 0:14:23he used a moulded leather prosthetic arm, and he fitted it with a strap

0:14:23 > 0:14:26right across Will's arm.

0:14:26 > 0:14:28Now, it was a complete and utter success.

0:14:28 > 0:14:31He was a groundskeeper, so with all of this work that James did,

0:14:31 > 0:14:33it meant that he could return and continue with his job.

0:14:33 > 0:14:36Wow, so let's have a closer look at some of these prosthetics.

0:14:36 > 0:14:39What was so special about how they were actually made?

0:14:39 > 0:14:43He did a new technique which involved moulding the leather,

0:14:43 > 0:14:46so he would mould the leather to the client's limb itself

0:14:46 > 0:14:47before hardening it.

0:14:47 > 0:14:50He always said the fit of the limb was just as important

0:14:50 > 0:14:52as the limb was itself.

0:14:52 > 0:14:53He didn't just stop at limbs.

0:14:53 > 0:14:55I mean, we've got these attachments, too.

0:14:55 > 0:14:58Really looking at things from the patient's point of view. Absolutely.

0:14:58 > 0:15:00He would try and ensure that not only the limb fitted best so

0:15:00 > 0:15:02they could carry on with the career that they had,

0:15:02 > 0:15:05but, also, he would do things like have attachments,

0:15:05 > 0:15:08have jointed fingers so they could carry on with their occupations.

0:15:08 > 0:15:11How many patients in total did he help?

0:15:11 > 0:15:15By 1903, Gillingham had treated in total over 7,000 patients. Wow.

0:15:15 > 0:15:19And this was children as well as men and women of all ages.

0:15:19 > 0:15:22It seems that there's no challenge that he wouldn't take on.

0:15:22 > 0:15:23I mean, he was known for his limbs,

0:15:23 > 0:15:26but here he is making beautiful eyes,

0:15:26 > 0:15:28obviously, out of glass,

0:15:28 > 0:15:32and, really, they are so intricate and delicate,

0:15:32 > 0:15:34even right down to the very veins that

0:15:34 > 0:15:36you would see on the whites of the eyes.

0:15:36 > 0:15:37They're really beautiful.

0:15:37 > 0:15:40I think the thing that's most commendable about James Gillingham

0:15:40 > 0:15:42was that he didn't refuse anybody,

0:15:42 > 0:15:44he did all of this work to make their lives

0:15:44 > 0:15:46just that little bit better.

0:15:46 > 0:15:48Gillingham died in 1924.

0:15:48 > 0:15:51His son, Sidney, and then later on his grandson, Jeffrey,

0:15:51 > 0:15:54took over the business and the business continued in this format

0:15:54 > 0:15:57until the 1950s, where it then passed into other hands.

0:15:57 > 0:15:59Well, Chard must be very proud because, clearly,

0:15:59 > 0:16:01James Gillingham was an incredible man,

0:16:01 > 0:16:03a world leader in artificial limbs

0:16:03 > 0:16:05and the prosthetics that we have today,

0:16:05 > 0:16:09the robotics and bionics are really all descendants

0:16:09 > 0:16:10so it is a wonderful tale.

0:16:10 > 0:16:13Amanda, thank you so much for joining us here at Westpoint.

0:16:13 > 0:16:15Thank you. It's been an incredible story.

0:16:21 > 0:16:24Back to the shopping, and the teams are halfway through.

0:16:24 > 0:16:27The Blues have shaken hands on two items already,

0:16:27 > 0:16:29but the Reds only have one in the bag.

0:16:29 > 0:16:32We're doing great. Good. Yeah, we're really doing great.

0:16:32 > 0:16:3530 minutes for the last item.

0:16:35 > 0:16:36Confident? Yep.

0:16:37 > 0:16:40Danny is trying to persuade the ladies of the benefits

0:16:40 > 0:16:42of buying reproductions.

0:16:42 > 0:16:44It's kind of like your modern antiques, really,

0:16:44 > 0:16:47which is getting quite desirable. Right. OK.

0:16:47 > 0:16:51You know, like suitcases that are making drawers or upcycled repro.

0:16:51 > 0:16:53If you just want the image because you've got,

0:16:53 > 0:16:55like, a period property... Yeah.

0:16:55 > 0:16:57Of course. Yeah. ..but you can't afford the original,

0:16:57 > 0:17:00then you get a repro and it's still giving the same kind of effect.

0:17:00 > 0:17:02I like this lamp, Chrissy.

0:17:02 > 0:17:03Is that a reproduction, would you say?

0:17:03 > 0:17:07Yeah, it's marked up at ?66, so you've got this, you know...

0:17:07 > 0:17:10This Art Deco has got all these elegant ladies, dancing ladies,

0:17:10 > 0:17:11very flamboyant.

0:17:11 > 0:17:14Yeah, yes, yeah. And that's exactly what we've got here -

0:17:14 > 0:17:17the real original piece, a lot of money. Right, a lot of money.

0:17:17 > 0:17:19This one here looks quite the same.

0:17:19 > 0:17:21It looks quite tasteful, doesn't it? It is very tasteful.

0:17:21 > 0:17:24I mean, the streamlined figure and the base, the black base.

0:17:24 > 0:17:26You've got it. And the lamp is pretty.

0:17:26 > 0:17:27Lamps are great.

0:17:27 > 0:17:28Lighting makes a home. Yeah, yes.

0:17:28 > 0:17:31So, you've got the figurine and, on top of that,

0:17:31 > 0:17:34you've got lighting as well. I think it's beautiful.

0:17:34 > 0:17:36Can we come back to that? Of course we can. Something in the bag,

0:17:36 > 0:17:38if need be. That'll be really nice. I quite like that.

0:17:38 > 0:17:40One that might light up later, then.

0:17:42 > 0:17:44Meanwhile, the Blues are searching for that third item to

0:17:44 > 0:17:46blow their budget.

0:17:46 > 0:17:47Oh, I like that.

0:17:47 > 0:17:48I do actually quite like that.

0:17:48 > 0:17:52Do you? What do you think of it? Well, it's very impressive.

0:17:52 > 0:17:55It's a 1900s silver-plated wine cooler.

0:17:55 > 0:17:58When we go on our picnic, we can take that with our pepper shakers.

0:17:58 > 0:18:02Pepper, yeah. It's priced at ?130.

0:18:02 > 0:18:07I see that at between 60 to 90.

0:18:07 > 0:18:09SHE BREATHES SHARPLY So, if they can move on it,

0:18:09 > 0:18:11that would be good.

0:18:11 > 0:18:12We'll give you 60 quid for it.

0:18:13 > 0:18:15Nice try, Katie.

0:18:15 > 0:18:17Don't fret. We have all the time in the world. Yeah.

0:18:17 > 0:18:20We can put that on the back burner. Yeah.

0:18:20 > 0:18:22The celebrations are on hold, then.

0:18:22 > 0:18:24Right, Reds, what have you found?

0:18:24 > 0:18:27What's this? What would that be? That would be a little card case.

0:18:27 > 0:18:29Like, a pocket card case, you know...

0:18:29 > 0:18:31It's got no, sort of, initials on it.

0:18:31 > 0:18:33You could personalise that, I suppose, couldn't you?

0:18:33 > 0:18:36You've got it. It might have been better with decoration,

0:18:36 > 0:18:40whereas that one's, you know... Too simple. ..just too simple. OK.

0:18:40 > 0:18:42Move on, then, ladies.

0:18:42 > 0:18:44Cindy, however, has had a change of heart.

0:18:44 > 0:18:46I think I'd like to go for the lamp. You'd like...?

0:18:46 > 0:18:49Hold on a minute, what's going on? I need to get a good price.

0:18:49 > 0:18:51I thought you were against it, Christine -

0:18:51 > 0:18:53what are you thinking now? Tell me your thoughts.

0:18:53 > 0:18:54I don't like it cos it's a reproduction.

0:18:54 > 0:18:58I can understand how elegant it is and, like you said earlier,

0:18:58 > 0:19:02it would fit in with a period property.

0:19:02 > 0:19:03Do you want to go and get it? Yes, please.

0:19:03 > 0:19:05At the right price. At the right price.

0:19:05 > 0:19:07Shall we see what we can do? We shall.

0:19:07 > 0:19:09Come on.

0:19:09 > 0:19:12The question is, will the lady still be there?

0:19:12 > 0:19:14Yes, still standing.

0:19:15 > 0:19:16That is nice.

0:19:16 > 0:19:18It's quite heavy as well. Quite heavy.

0:19:18 > 0:19:21Yeah, that's nice. A nice piece of stylish Art Deco there.

0:19:21 > 0:19:25I think it's beautiful. What's your best price on this, please?

0:19:25 > 0:19:27Best price on the lamp? Erm...

0:19:27 > 0:19:29Say 40, that would be good.

0:19:29 > 0:19:31How about 45?

0:19:31 > 0:19:3345, do you think?

0:19:33 > 0:19:35Yes, that'll be wonderful. Yeah.

0:19:35 > 0:19:37Are you sure? Thank you. That's cool!

0:19:37 > 0:19:39You're welcome. 45. I'm happy with 45.

0:19:39 > 0:19:41Thank you very much. Let's hope you make some profit.

0:19:41 > 0:19:44Happy? Yeah? Yeah. Well, it's done now.

0:19:44 > 0:19:46You've shook her hand, the deal's been done!

0:19:46 > 0:19:49Well, Cindy definitely knows what she wants.

0:19:49 > 0:19:52She clinched the Reds' second buy for ?45

0:19:52 > 0:19:54with 25 minutes left on the clock.

0:19:54 > 0:19:56The teams are now 2-2.

0:19:56 > 0:19:59Have the Blues found that big purchase?

0:19:59 > 0:20:01Some sort of wheelchair, isn't it?

0:20:01 > 0:20:02That's quite cool, the little...

0:20:02 > 0:20:04Yeah, well, that's cute. Yeah, I like this.

0:20:04 > 0:20:06They're sort of big, in a way.

0:20:06 > 0:20:09120. It's, sort of, early 20th century.

0:20:09 > 0:20:11It's well-worn.

0:20:11 > 0:20:14I was about to say, is the condition going to have an effect? Well-used.

0:20:14 > 0:20:16It looks like a big loss, if I'm honest.

0:20:16 > 0:20:19I'm just seeing loss, loss, loss all over it.

0:20:19 > 0:20:21Well, what about this?

0:20:21 > 0:20:24Fold-up chair? It's a decorator's piece.

0:20:24 > 0:20:27You could put a plant in there.

0:20:27 > 0:20:29They're not convinced, Gary.

0:20:29 > 0:20:32Yeah, that's about all I'd put in it.

0:20:32 > 0:20:34I don't think I would trust anything in it.

0:20:34 > 0:20:36The price is 38 to start off with.

0:20:36 > 0:20:39Hmm, I'm not really...

0:20:39 > 0:20:40I'm not feeling it. Not feeling it?

0:20:40 > 0:20:42Not feeling the love? I'm not feeling it, no. OK.

0:20:42 > 0:20:44Fine, push on, then.

0:20:44 > 0:20:47The Reds are on the scent of a possible third item.

0:20:47 > 0:20:50There's some lovely pieces here. There's some beautiful glass.

0:20:50 > 0:20:53There are, yes. That's nice, that scent bottle there.

0:20:53 > 0:20:54Go on, then, have a look.

0:20:54 > 0:20:57But do you think it's wiser to get coloured glass?

0:20:57 > 0:21:02I think coloured glass is always more beautiful,

0:21:02 > 0:21:05but, I mean, that's quite nice with the silver top.

0:21:05 > 0:21:08You've got 35 on it, is that your best price?

0:21:09 > 0:21:1130. You could probably move to 30.

0:21:11 > 0:21:13VENDOR: 30. Shall we think about that?

0:21:13 > 0:21:16Yeah, well, we know it's there. All right, then.

0:21:16 > 0:21:19We've got a bit of time, so we're in a good position, really. OK.

0:21:19 > 0:21:23You think about it, but, remember, you've only got 15 minutes left.

0:21:23 > 0:21:27The Blues, in the meantime, are still on the hunt for big.

0:21:27 > 0:21:28Big in size...

0:21:28 > 0:21:31That's big. It's vile. It's horrible.

0:21:31 > 0:21:33..or big in price.

0:21:33 > 0:21:36What about this? Oh, I think it's a little bit over budget, though.

0:21:36 > 0:21:39Just a bit. It's a good job because I don't really like it.

0:21:39 > 0:21:40Move on? Move on. Move on.

0:21:40 > 0:21:43Oh, dear, Gary's suggestions aren't going down well.

0:21:43 > 0:21:45One last chance, then.

0:21:45 > 0:21:46What about a big book?

0:21:46 > 0:21:49It's kind of cool, to be fair. I quite like this.

0:21:49 > 0:21:50What is it a book of?

0:21:50 > 0:21:53It's a Bible - the King James edition.

0:21:53 > 0:21:54It is massive, isn't it?

0:21:54 > 0:21:56It's huge. Yes.

0:21:56 > 0:21:58Is someone likely to buy it, though?

0:21:58 > 0:22:01Well, it's collectable and it looks good on, sort of, a table.

0:22:01 > 0:22:04I mean, people wouldn't read them.

0:22:04 > 0:22:06What do you think?

0:22:06 > 0:22:09I don't know if anyone would buy it, that's my concern. I'm a bit...

0:22:09 > 0:22:12The Reds are drawn to some big-ticket items, too.

0:22:12 > 0:22:15A bit out of our price bracket, that one. Yeah, it is.

0:22:15 > 0:22:17Move on, then, Reds.

0:22:17 > 0:22:19We pretty much know what we want - we've just got to find it.

0:22:19 > 0:22:23Yeah, we do. We've got to find it, haven't we? Yes, that is the plan!

0:22:23 > 0:22:26Now, it seems the Blues might have come to a decision.

0:22:26 > 0:22:28I'd rather go with the fold-up wheelchair, wouldn't you?

0:22:28 > 0:22:31So, have we decided the fold-up wheelchair?

0:22:31 > 0:22:33Shall we go for the fold-up wheelchair?

0:22:33 > 0:22:35Yeah. Yeah, go on, let's go and find it.

0:22:35 > 0:22:40Well, after all those no's, it's nice to have a yes at last.

0:22:40 > 0:22:43Shall we do the deed? And the deal?

0:22:43 > 0:22:45What do you reckon?

0:22:45 > 0:22:46Do you reckon so?

0:22:46 > 0:22:48What is your very, very, very, very best price?

0:22:48 > 0:22:52The best I can do on that is ?28 for you.

0:22:52 > 0:22:54What about 23?

0:22:54 > 0:22:56Oh, can't do it, I'm afraid.

0:22:56 > 0:22:5725?

0:22:57 > 0:22:59Oh, that's really pushing it.

0:22:59 > 0:23:02What happens if we meet you in the middle at ?27?

0:23:02 > 0:23:0426.

0:23:04 > 0:23:0626, go on, then. 26, yay! Yeah. We've got it.

0:23:06 > 0:23:08OK. Thank you. Thank you very much.

0:23:08 > 0:23:11At last, the Blues have their big third buy,

0:23:11 > 0:23:13and with ten minutes to spare.

0:23:13 > 0:23:15Yay! We've done it!

0:23:15 > 0:23:17Let's go. We can relax now.

0:23:17 > 0:23:19No relaxing for the Reds, though -

0:23:19 > 0:23:22they're still searching for that item they know they'll want

0:23:22 > 0:23:23when they see it.

0:23:23 > 0:23:25A bit too modern. Yeah, it is. Yeah?

0:23:25 > 0:23:27Yeah. Right, let's go.

0:23:27 > 0:23:30We've always got that one round the corner

0:23:30 > 0:23:31with the silver on for 30.

0:23:31 > 0:23:33Yes. Do you want to go and get that?

0:23:33 > 0:23:36Because we haven't got a lot of time. Come on. Yeah, let's go.

0:23:36 > 0:23:38Good idea, Reds - better get cracking.

0:23:38 > 0:23:40We looked at this earlier.

0:23:40 > 0:23:43You've got ?35 on it. Did you?

0:23:43 > 0:23:46Would you take 20? We're really short of cash.

0:23:46 > 0:23:47This is our last buy.

0:23:47 > 0:23:48I could do 25.

0:23:48 > 0:23:51Could you? What do you think, Chris? 22.

0:23:51 > 0:23:54Do you think 25, we were saying? Oh, go on, then. 22?

0:23:54 > 0:23:57Yeah. Oh, brilliant. Do you want it for 22, yeah?

0:23:57 > 0:23:59That sounds like a good price. Thank you for that.

0:23:59 > 0:24:02Thank you so much. Thank you very much.

0:24:02 > 0:24:04Well, that's it, we're finished. Yay! Brilliant.

0:24:06 > 0:24:08Teams, your 60 minutes are now up.

0:24:08 > 0:24:10Even got time for a cup of tea.

0:24:10 > 0:24:12Fabulous. Come on, then. Come on.

0:24:12 > 0:24:15Let's remind ourselves what the Red team bought.

0:24:15 > 0:24:20First up, they fell in love with this Austrian glass vase for ?150.

0:24:21 > 0:24:25They're hoping this Art Deco style lamp will light up at auction.

0:24:25 > 0:24:26?45 was paid.

0:24:27 > 0:24:31And, finally, will they smell success with this silver-collared

0:24:31 > 0:24:33cut-glass scent bottle? They paid ?22.

0:24:35 > 0:24:38So, which would you say, Cindy, was your favourite item?

0:24:38 > 0:24:40My favourite was the Art Nouveau vase

0:24:40 > 0:24:42with the glass and the pewter. The vase. Oh, beautiful.

0:24:42 > 0:24:44Now, do you think, as it's your favourite,

0:24:44 > 0:24:46it's going to bring the biggest profit?

0:24:46 > 0:24:48Yeah, I'd like to say it was going to bring the biggest profit

0:24:48 > 0:24:51cos it's beautiful, even though it's expensive.

0:24:51 > 0:24:53OK, and Chrissy, seeing as you love lamps,

0:24:53 > 0:24:54is the lamp your favourite item?

0:24:54 > 0:24:59The vase, actually, is my favourite as well. Austra.... Austrian glass.

0:24:59 > 0:25:01But will it bring the biggest profit?

0:25:01 > 0:25:03I don't necessarily think it will.

0:25:03 > 0:25:07I think the little scent bottle will bring the biggest profit.

0:25:07 > 0:25:11Now, you weren't afraid to spend a bit of money, so you spent 217,

0:25:11 > 0:25:12so who's got the balance?

0:25:12 > 0:25:15I've got the balance. Oh, you've got it, Cindy. OK, so ?83.

0:25:15 > 0:25:18?83, there we are. I'll take it. Thank you very much.

0:25:18 > 0:25:21Danny, what are you thinking for the ladies?

0:25:21 > 0:25:24Well, I think we've bought very much period pieces, so I'm going to go

0:25:24 > 0:25:26for something totally out-of-the-box,

0:25:26 > 0:25:29something totally different to what we've bought anyway... Right.

0:25:29 > 0:25:31..and hopefully that'll make a nice profit for us. Great.

0:25:31 > 0:25:35Well, fingers crossed. So, while Danny thinks outside the box,

0:25:35 > 0:25:37let's remind ourselves what the Blue team bought.

0:25:38 > 0:25:42First of all, they shook things up with the six silver pepper shakers.

0:25:42 > 0:25:43?46 was paid.

0:25:45 > 0:25:47They pushed the boat out with this set of

0:25:47 > 0:25:50Royal Doulton Bunnykin figurines for ?69.

0:25:52 > 0:25:55And, finally, they paid ?26 for a vintage pushchair.

0:25:57 > 0:25:59That was quite cool, wasn't it?

0:25:59 > 0:26:02So quick off the mark and then you just, kind of, took your time,

0:26:02 > 0:26:04and thought about that last item very carefully, didn't you?

0:26:04 > 0:26:07We did. It took us a little while to get our last item, didn't we?

0:26:07 > 0:26:08Yeah. Yeah.

0:26:08 > 0:26:12Now, which did you think was your favourite item, Josh, of the three?

0:26:12 > 0:26:14Probably the Bunnykins. The Bunnykins?

0:26:14 > 0:26:16It's quite cool, isn't it? They're just so horrendous.

0:26:16 > 0:26:18Which do you think is going to bring the biggest profit?

0:26:18 > 0:26:20Probably the silver pepperpots.

0:26:20 > 0:26:21Katie, do you agree?

0:26:21 > 0:26:23I do agree with Josh. That'll be the one.

0:26:23 > 0:26:25If we make any money, it will be on them.

0:26:25 > 0:26:26OK, and your favourite?

0:26:26 > 0:26:29Bunnykins or the pushchair?

0:26:29 > 0:26:31Well, yeah, I like the pushchair, wheelchair thing.

0:26:31 > 0:26:34It's really good. Quirky does sell, so hopefully...

0:26:34 > 0:26:36If not, you can use it for firewood, so dual purpose.

0:26:36 > 0:26:38That's the spirit. Buy something and chop it up,

0:26:38 > 0:26:40that's what it's all about. Yeah.

0:26:40 > 0:26:43Now, you spent ?141. Yeah.

0:26:43 > 0:26:46I did give you 300, so 159 left.

0:26:46 > 0:26:47Thank you very much.

0:26:47 > 0:26:49Gary, quite a hefty amount there. Yes.

0:26:49 > 0:26:51Well, yes, good enough, isn't it?

0:26:51 > 0:26:53What have you got in mind? Let's put it this way.

0:26:53 > 0:26:56They wanted something ugly - we got that.

0:26:56 > 0:26:59They wanted something classy - we got that.

0:26:59 > 0:27:01They wanted something strange - we got that.

0:27:01 > 0:27:04The one thing we didn't find was something big,

0:27:04 > 0:27:07so I'm on the lookout for Mr Big.

0:27:07 > 0:27:09So, while Gary goes up searching for his bonus buy,

0:27:09 > 0:27:12it's time now for us to head to Honiton for the auction.

0:27:21 > 0:27:24We're here at Whittons Auction House, with Edward Whitton.

0:27:24 > 0:27:26Thank you, Edward, for having us along. Thank you for coming.

0:27:26 > 0:27:28Now, we're going to start off with the Red team, as always.

0:27:28 > 0:27:33Cindy and Chrissy, sisters, who went gaga for this vase.

0:27:33 > 0:27:35They absolutely loved it. Tell me what you know about it.

0:27:35 > 0:27:37It's an unusual vase.

0:27:37 > 0:27:40It's quite crudely decorated with pewter, but it's nice with the

0:27:40 > 0:27:42semiprecious stones around it.

0:27:42 > 0:27:45But an acquired taste, in my opinion.

0:27:45 > 0:27:47It is. I don't think I've ever seen the two materials

0:27:47 > 0:27:48pieced together like this.

0:27:48 > 0:27:511960s I'd probably say, something like that.

0:27:51 > 0:27:54OK, so sort of in the style of that Arts and Crafts era... Yeah.

0:27:54 > 0:27:55..but a little bit later.

0:27:55 > 0:27:58So you don't think it's got a huge amount of age,

0:27:58 > 0:28:00but it's got some style, so what do you reckon it's worth? Yeah.

0:28:00 > 0:28:04I've put 30 to 50, but I think it could go quite well, to be honest.

0:28:04 > 0:28:06OK, the ladies paid ?150.

0:28:06 > 0:28:10Oh, that's... Well, there we go, then. Not too far out, were we?

0:28:10 > 0:28:12Well, we'll all see what happens when the auction comes round.

0:28:12 > 0:28:16Worry not. So we'll move on to another bit of glass,

0:28:16 > 0:28:19this time in the form of a shade, and on top of this lamp,

0:28:19 > 0:28:22but although she looks old, she's not really, is she?

0:28:22 > 0:28:24No, I think it's brand-new. Mmm.

0:28:24 > 0:28:27Yeah, a copy of a very famous style.

0:28:27 > 0:28:30The sort of thing that in a shop would cost you, you know, ?60-?80,

0:28:30 > 0:28:33but I think in an auction it's... I've put 30 to 50.

0:28:33 > 0:28:36OK, well, the ladies spent ?45 on it,

0:28:36 > 0:28:40so hopefully your bidders will be able to pay the retail price,

0:28:40 > 0:28:41and profit all round. Yeah.

0:28:41 > 0:28:44And then we move on to another very girlie item,

0:28:44 > 0:28:48this scent bottle here with its lovely cut-glass stopper.

0:28:48 > 0:28:51Tell me, do you like this shape, this shouldered form?

0:28:51 > 0:28:54It is quite a slender and attractive hobnail-cut glass.

0:28:54 > 0:28:55It's been well cut.

0:28:55 > 0:28:59The stopper, the mount is silver but the marks are quite worn. Mm-hm.

0:28:59 > 0:29:01There's a chip on the body, I'm afraid,

0:29:01 > 0:29:04and a chip on the stopper, I'm afraid,

0:29:04 > 0:29:05hence I've put 20 to 30.

0:29:05 > 0:29:09OK, well, don't worry, the ladies paid ?22 for it.

0:29:09 > 0:29:10Well, that's OK, then.

0:29:10 > 0:29:13So it could be a case of ups and downs,

0:29:13 > 0:29:16so, in case they need it, let's find out what Danny bought as a bonus.

0:29:18 > 0:29:21Cindy, Chrissy, as a team, you were all about glass.

0:29:21 > 0:29:23Everything had a bit of glass in your shop. Yes.

0:29:23 > 0:29:25Actually, it did. It did, yeah!

0:29:25 > 0:29:28So, Danny, with your ?83, did you buy glass?

0:29:28 > 0:29:30No, I never, Natasha.

0:29:30 > 0:29:34I bought something a little bit bling, just like you two. Oh, nice.

0:29:34 > 0:29:36Nice. Lovely. A lovely little bit of silver.

0:29:36 > 0:29:38It's a little Bryant May matchbox holder.

0:29:38 > 0:29:40Nice decoration on the top.

0:29:40 > 0:29:44Around about 1920s, 1930s, I would have said.

0:29:44 > 0:29:47And, as a sweetener, a little sugar bowl. That is pretty.

0:29:47 > 0:29:50It's only silver-plated, but it was thrown in,

0:29:50 > 0:29:53as I was trying to get a really good price for you. Oh, that's great.

0:29:53 > 0:29:55Are there any matches in there? They've been used up?

0:29:55 > 0:29:58They've all been used up. OK. Very pretty.

0:29:58 > 0:30:02At auction, it's perhaps going to make ?40 or ?50.

0:30:02 > 0:30:04There's profit in here. Brilliant. How much did you pay?

0:30:04 > 0:30:08How much did I pay? Yeah. Yeah. ?30 for the pair.

0:30:08 > 0:30:11That's good. But we're not going to make a decision just yet.

0:30:11 > 0:30:12No, we'll see.

0:30:12 > 0:30:13Oh...

0:30:13 > 0:30:16Sounds like you're backtracking there. We'll see.

0:30:16 > 0:30:18Yes, the ladies don't need to make the minds up just yet,

0:30:18 > 0:30:23but, in the meantime, let's find out what Ed, our auctioneer, thinks.

0:30:23 > 0:30:25So here is Danny's bonus buy.

0:30:25 > 0:30:28Do you think this little bit of hallmarked silver

0:30:28 > 0:30:30is strengthened with the bit of silver plate?

0:30:30 > 0:30:32To be honest, no.

0:30:32 > 0:30:35The matchbox would sell a lot better on its own

0:30:35 > 0:30:36without the sugar bowl.

0:30:36 > 0:30:39The sugar bowl, basically, is probably worthless.

0:30:39 > 0:30:41OK, is it just sort of two for the price of one?

0:30:41 > 0:30:43That's exactly what it is. OK and at what sort of price?

0:30:43 > 0:30:45?15-?20. ?15-?20?

0:30:45 > 0:30:47Well, Danny paid ?30 for the two,

0:30:47 > 0:30:50so we'll have to hope that he doubles your estimate.

0:30:50 > 0:30:52Well, we'll have to hope so, won't we?

0:30:52 > 0:30:55Right, let's move on to the Blue team,

0:30:55 > 0:30:58Katie and Josh, who are a lovely mother and son,

0:30:58 > 0:31:00and the first thing that they bought was also a bit of silver.

0:31:00 > 0:31:02Continental silver in fact.

0:31:02 > 0:31:04Yeah. These pots, what do you reckon?

0:31:04 > 0:31:06Nice to have them in their box.

0:31:06 > 0:31:08The box is in disrepair.

0:31:08 > 0:31:11And what about the pots themselves? Yeah, they are slightly damaged.

0:31:11 > 0:31:14To be fair, there's a couple of holes in the bases.

0:31:14 > 0:31:17Not much use when you've got grains of salt. Which isn't much use...

0:31:17 > 0:31:20Which isn't much use for a cruet, really.

0:31:20 > 0:31:21But this is a nice decorator's set.

0:31:21 > 0:31:23And what sort of age do you reckon?

0:31:23 > 0:31:251960s, 1970s, something like that.

0:31:25 > 0:31:28So, not hugely old, a little bit plain -

0:31:28 > 0:31:29what kind of estimate?

0:31:29 > 0:31:3025 to 35.

0:31:30 > 0:31:33OK, well, our mother and son paid 46.

0:31:33 > 0:31:36Right. So, everything should be OK, I think,

0:31:36 > 0:31:42but we might have to pin our hopes on HMS Bunnykins.

0:31:42 > 0:31:43Have you ever seen the likes?

0:31:43 > 0:31:46In fact, have you? Have you sold this before at Whitton?

0:31:46 > 0:31:48I have sold lots of Bunnykins in the past.

0:31:48 > 0:31:50Never seen the stand, to be fair.

0:31:51 > 0:31:54Decorator's lot again, but there is damage to them.

0:31:54 > 0:31:56One of the ears has come off... Oh, no!

0:31:56 > 0:31:59..and been re-glued, so, when buying porcelain and china,

0:31:59 > 0:32:00always buy and beware.

0:32:00 > 0:32:04OK, so the big question is, is HMS Bunnykins going to sink or swim?

0:32:04 > 0:32:08I think it'll swim, but I don't know how far.

0:32:08 > 0:32:10OK, what sort of estimate? 50 to 80.

0:32:10 > 0:32:1350 to 80? OK, well, the team paid ?69.

0:32:13 > 0:32:14That's not catastrophic.

0:32:14 > 0:32:18Yeah, OK, I think they've managed to pick up their life-saver there.

0:32:18 > 0:32:21And then we move on to a, kind of, a weird item -

0:32:21 > 0:32:24this child's chair with wheels.

0:32:24 > 0:32:27Is it a wheelchair? Is it a pushchair? What are your thoughts?

0:32:27 > 0:32:30Well, it's like a junior wheelchair, isn't it? It's got a bit of age.

0:32:30 > 0:32:34It's got to be 50 years old or something, doesn't it? Yeah, absolutely.

0:32:34 > 0:32:36To whom do you see this selling? A doll collector maybe?

0:32:36 > 0:32:37Yeah, could be.

0:32:37 > 0:32:41Could go in a shop just as a decorator's item in a shop.

0:32:41 > 0:32:44As quirky as it is, I mean, it's not in the best condition, is it?

0:32:44 > 0:32:48It's not. It's got rust. The wood's split. Paint's come off.

0:32:48 > 0:32:50It could do with a fair bit of TLC.

0:32:50 > 0:32:52Yeah. Couldn't we all?

0:32:52 > 0:32:54Well, absolutely. Now, how much of an estimate have you put on this?

0:32:54 > 0:32:57I put 30 to 50. Not the easiest of things to sell, I don't think.

0:32:57 > 0:33:00They've not paid too much, ?26. Oh, that's OK.

0:33:00 > 0:33:02So, they should be all right. Yeah.

0:33:02 > 0:33:05But, as eclectic as their collection is,

0:33:05 > 0:33:07let's just see what Gary can add to it.

0:33:09 > 0:33:14Katie and Josh, what brave people you are, leaving Gary Pe with ?159.

0:33:14 > 0:33:15You must have been feeling bold.

0:33:15 > 0:33:17We are at the minute.

0:33:17 > 0:33:19Well, it does look like something big and bold is

0:33:19 > 0:33:21underneath that cloth, Gary, so show us what you've got.

0:33:21 > 0:33:26Yes, well, I promised that I would find, for you, Mr Big,

0:33:26 > 0:33:30and it's a metal chest,

0:33:30 > 0:33:35which has the air of the sea, the masculine, the military...

0:33:35 > 0:33:37Now, we've got Mr Big and Mr Heavy.

0:33:37 > 0:33:38Katie, is it Mr Gorgeous?

0:33:38 > 0:33:40I don't think it would come into the Ford household

0:33:40 > 0:33:42but someone might like it.

0:33:42 > 0:33:45Well, yes, even decorators would love this sort of thing.

0:33:45 > 0:33:47What, to put their paint inside?

0:33:48 > 0:33:50Put a piece of glass on top of that...

0:33:50 > 0:33:52OK. ..and you've got an instant coffee table.

0:33:54 > 0:33:57That's thinking outside the box. Yeah.

0:33:57 > 0:33:59But look at this construction. The rivets...

0:33:59 > 0:34:01The Titanic had rivets and look what happened to that, though!

0:34:01 > 0:34:03It sunk. THEY LAUGH

0:34:03 > 0:34:05It is smart, isn't it? It is smart.

0:34:05 > 0:34:07How old do you think it is?

0:34:07 > 0:34:09Turn-of-the-century. So, how much did you pay for it?

0:34:09 > 0:34:11?48.

0:34:11 > 0:34:13And how much do you reckon you'll make?

0:34:13 > 0:34:15I think there's a lot of room.

0:34:15 > 0:34:17It could easily make 100, actually.

0:34:17 > 0:34:19You reckon? I think so.

0:34:19 > 0:34:20Well, Gary's hedging his bets,

0:34:20 > 0:34:24so let's find out what our auctioneer thinks of this, I think,

0:34:24 > 0:34:25classic ship's trunk.

0:34:26 > 0:34:28You must sell oodles of these.

0:34:28 > 0:34:30Yeah, sold hundreds of these over the years.
