0:00:15 > 0:00:17Ah, there you are.

0:00:17 > 0:00:20Could I ask for a wish -

0:00:20 > 0:00:25just a little carriage to save my poor wee feet?

0:01:17 > 0:01:20Let's have a peek at the magic that lies ahead.

0:01:22 > 0:01:25On today's show, there's a lot of bickering with the Reds...

0:01:26 > 0:01:30No! I thought we had our first glimpse of harmony there!

0:01:30 > 0:01:32Let's not make any bones about it.

0:01:32 > 0:01:36..whilst over with the Blues, Thomas has his work cut out.

0:01:36 > 0:01:38- It's a no-brainer!- OK.

0:01:38 > 0:01:39It's a profit item.

0:01:39 > 0:01:41Come on, girls!

0:01:41 > 0:01:46But when it comes to the auction, there is relief and excitement.

0:01:46 > 0:01:47THEY CHEER

0:01:49 > 0:01:51That's all for later.

0:01:51 > 0:01:53So let's meet today's teams.

0:01:53 > 0:01:56And we have teams of friends.

0:01:56 > 0:01:59For the Reds, we have Simon and John.

0:01:59 > 0:02:02And for the Blues, we have Kelly and Elisa.

0:02:02 > 0:02:05- Hello, everyone! ALL:- Hello, Anita.

0:02:05 > 0:02:06Oh, welcome, welcome.

0:02:06 > 0:02:09So, John, how did you guys meet?

0:02:09 > 0:02:14We met on a TV show, a cooking show, a few years ago,

0:02:14 > 0:02:17where I didn't have a particularly good day when I was cooking.

0:02:17 > 0:02:19I tripped up the stairs with all the starters,

0:02:19 > 0:02:21but I just went and got everything and put it back on the plate.

0:02:21 > 0:02:25And served it up. And I came fourth out of four, so it wasn't too great.

0:02:25 > 0:02:26But I did meet Simon that day.

0:02:26 > 0:02:28So you gelled immediately?

0:02:28 > 0:02:30- We did, actually, yeah.- Yeah. - We did.

0:02:30 > 0:02:32Now, John, you're a courier.

0:02:32 > 0:02:34- I am.- Tell me a little bit about that.

0:02:34 > 0:02:37It was a temporary job about 13 years ago,

0:02:37 > 0:02:38and I've been doing it ever since!

0:02:38 > 0:02:41You do get lots of strange deliveries.

0:02:41 > 0:02:43We had something in the depot which was shaped like a coffin.

0:02:43 > 0:02:46And I took it up to this lady who lived up on the hill.

0:02:46 > 0:02:48When I turned up with it, she rushed out and she said,

0:02:48 > 0:02:51"Oh, you've got my coffin."

0:02:51 > 0:02:52And I didn't know quite what to say.

0:02:52 > 0:02:54And she said "No, don't worry, I'm not going anywhere,

0:02:54 > 0:02:57"it's just that it's a wicker one and it's eco-friendly,

0:02:57 > 0:02:59"and I'm buying it now in advance."

0:02:59 > 0:03:01Yeah, you meet all sorts on the job, that's for sure.

0:03:01 > 0:03:04Now, Simon, you're an actor,

0:03:04 > 0:03:06and your middle name is Blood.

0:03:06 > 0:03:08Is that a stage name?

0:03:08 > 0:03:10No, no, that's a family name.

0:03:10 > 0:03:13I'm descended on my dad's mother's side from Colonel Thomas Blood,

0:03:13 > 0:03:16the man who stole the crown jewels about 350 years ago.

0:03:16 > 0:03:17And he's your forbear?

0:03:17 > 0:03:19- Yes. A few grandads back. - SHE GASPS

0:03:19 > 0:03:21So you could be a wild guy?

0:03:21 > 0:03:26I believe you specialise in fight scenes in your acting career?

0:03:26 > 0:03:29Yeah, I'd always acted, even from drama school as a child,

0:03:29 > 0:03:31but it's when I got into TV and film,

0:03:31 > 0:03:33it was because of my sword fighting skills,

0:03:33 > 0:03:36which got me into all five seasons of the Merlin series.

0:03:36 > 0:03:38Is he your best pal?

0:03:38 > 0:03:39We're good friends, yes.

0:03:39 > 0:03:41Yeah, we get on. Little and often.

0:03:41 > 0:03:44We have to limit the time we spend together, because we can clash.

0:03:44 > 0:03:46He's the only person I've ever met who talks more than me, so...

0:03:46 > 0:03:49- What will your tactics be today? - We do differ on that.

0:03:49 > 0:03:52Yeah, I want to find that really nice item, spend big,

0:03:52 > 0:03:53and make millions.

0:03:53 > 0:03:56So that's it for the Reds, and now

0:03:56 > 0:03:58for today's Blues, Kelly and Elisa.

0:03:58 > 0:04:01Tell me, how did you two girls meet?

0:04:01 > 0:04:06Well, we work together in a primary school, and Elisa's my boss.

0:04:06 > 0:04:07We've been on a few adventures together...

0:04:07 > 0:04:10- Right.- ..and our friendship's grown from there.

0:04:10 > 0:04:14Now, I believe you guys have a special list,

0:04:14 > 0:04:17which is why you've ended up here?

0:04:17 > 0:04:19We had a bit of a think about what we wanted to do,

0:04:19 > 0:04:22some really interesting things to do over the next few years.

0:04:22 > 0:04:25And so one of them was to appear on TV,

0:04:25 > 0:04:28so Bargain Hunt seemed the perfect opportunity.

0:04:28 > 0:04:31- Here we are!- Of course.- Something on your list is to go skydiving,

0:04:31 > 0:04:34- which I'm sure she'll rope me into! - Skydiving?!- Kelly's not too keen,

0:04:34 > 0:04:36but I think we will make that happen.

0:04:36 > 0:04:39- Yeah.- I hear you're a bit worried about Hansen's luck,

0:04:39 > 0:04:41what on Earth is Hansen's luck?

0:04:41 > 0:04:44My surname is Hansen, and our Hansen luck

0:04:44 > 0:04:46seems to follow us wherever we go,

0:04:46 > 0:04:49but unfortunately it's not the best of luck in the world.

0:04:49 > 0:04:51Particularly around holidays, actually, it tends to strike.

0:04:51 > 0:04:54I've written the car off on the way to a holiday before.

0:04:54 > 0:04:58And another significant one is when my mother went on holiday once,

0:04:58 > 0:05:00years ago, I lit a fire at her home.

0:05:00 > 0:05:03Unfortunately, the chimney caught fire

0:05:03 > 0:05:06and it ended up pretty much burning the house down, yes.

0:05:06 > 0:05:09Well, I-I hope you're a wee bit more careful today!

0:05:11 > 0:05:15Elisa, you're the head teacher at the school.

0:05:15 > 0:05:16- I am.- How long have you been doing that?

0:05:16 > 0:05:18About coming up to three years now.

0:05:18 > 0:05:20Head of a lovely primary school, really enjoy it.

0:05:20 > 0:05:22Got fantastic staff like Kelly,

0:05:22 > 0:05:25and amazing children and people who work there, so, yeah, I love it.

0:05:25 > 0:05:28And I believe you're a scuba diver as well?

0:05:28 > 0:05:31You might not be surprised to hear I'm not a professional,

0:05:31 > 0:05:33but I had a go once on one of our trips.

0:05:33 > 0:05:35But it did open up a real love of underwater,

0:05:35 > 0:05:37we do lots of snorkelling.

0:05:37 > 0:05:40Just bought a full-face snorkel mask, which isn't attractive,

0:05:40 > 0:05:42- but is brilliant!- Oh!

0:05:42 > 0:05:44What are your tactics today?

0:05:44 > 0:05:47I think we think quite similarly about most things.

0:05:47 > 0:05:49Not afraid to spend big.

0:05:49 > 0:05:52- Definitely.- You agree?- We could come back with absolutely anything,

0:05:52 > 0:05:55we've no idea what we're looking for,

0:05:55 > 0:05:57but we're going to know it when we see it.

0:05:57 > 0:06:00And now for the money moment!

0:06:00 > 0:06:01£300.

0:06:01 > 0:06:04- Thank you.- And £300.

0:06:04 > 0:06:07- Your experts await...- Thank you.

0:06:07 > 0:06:09..so off you go.

0:06:09 > 0:06:12Friends at odds or friends in harmony?

0:06:12 > 0:06:15This should be an interesting one!

0:06:17 > 0:06:21On hand to help them out are today's experts.

0:06:21 > 0:06:24Picturing a profit for the Reds, it's John Cameron.

0:06:24 > 0:06:27And batting for the Blues, it's Thomas Plant.

0:06:29 > 0:06:31What are we thinking of buying today?

0:06:31 > 0:06:34Thinking of where we're selling, I might go for some Chester Silver.

0:06:34 > 0:06:35Chester Silver? Good, good, good.

0:06:35 > 0:06:38I'm thinking jewellery - something expensive, something sparkly.

0:06:38 > 0:06:42I was thinking of some nice glass - 18th century, something like that.

0:06:42 > 0:06:44Anything big, quirky, maybe vintagey.

0:06:44 > 0:06:47- Vintagey, yeah.- Yeah. - OK, well, that's a plan.- Yes.

0:06:47 > 0:06:51Right, teams, on the hooter, your 60 minutes start.

0:06:51 > 0:06:53SHE TOOTS HORN

0:06:53 > 0:06:55Big, vintage, and jewels. Come on!

0:06:55 > 0:06:58Well, we've got our money, let's go shopping.

0:06:58 > 0:07:01As the teams get under way, let's brush up

0:07:01 > 0:07:03on some Bargain Hunt basics.

0:07:03 > 0:07:05Rule one - stick together, teams!

0:07:05 > 0:07:06Kelly's just disappeared.

0:07:06 > 0:07:08- Do you just wander off, do you? - Yeah.

0:07:08 > 0:07:11And rule two - remember the aim of the game.

0:07:11 > 0:07:14A lot of money on that, 155.

0:07:14 > 0:07:16You've got to try and get a profit. Think about selling it on, yeah?

0:07:16 > 0:07:20- Yeah, exactly. OK.- I don't think you're going to get a profit at auction.

0:07:20 > 0:07:22Oh, dear! This may be a hard shop.

0:07:22 > 0:07:23Blues, any joy?

0:07:23 > 0:07:26If you like great, big...big pots.

0:07:26 > 0:07:28I mean, I don't love it.

0:07:28 > 0:07:32Big log bin? With the Green Man on there?

0:07:32 > 0:07:35- You don't like a Green Man?- Um, no. - No?

0:07:35 > 0:07:39I don't think these ladies are going to be easy to impress, Thomas.

0:07:39 > 0:07:41You said you wanted to look at glass. What do you like about that?

0:07:41 > 0:07:43Well, it's just got a nice bit of colour to it.

0:07:43 > 0:07:46It looks very sort of, I don't know, sort of '80s, almost,

0:07:46 > 0:07:48and I just think it's very nice.

0:07:48 > 0:07:50- OK.- It's attractive. It's...

0:07:50 > 0:07:53- And how much money is it? - It's five, sir.

0:07:53 > 0:07:55£5! Well, that's not bad.

0:07:55 > 0:07:57- How about four?- We'll take four.

0:07:57 > 0:07:58OK. £4? Yeah, is that all right?

0:07:58 > 0:08:01- Simon?- You weren't even consulted there, Simon!

0:08:01 > 0:08:03I'm sorry about that. He just spent four quid there.

0:08:03 > 0:08:06That's his item. He's got a joint item, and I've got one to buy,

0:08:06 > 0:08:09- that's on him.- Well, you can't lose much with four quid, can you?

0:08:09 > 0:08:11Well, apart from your dignity. Have you seen it?

0:08:11 > 0:08:12That is very, very nice.

0:08:12 > 0:08:15There's nothing else that stands out on this table like that.

0:08:15 > 0:08:18- That's nice. There's something about that.- People collect paperweights.

0:08:18 > 0:08:20I think, at four quid, there's profit in it.

0:08:20 > 0:08:22But it's not going to be big profit.

0:08:22 > 0:08:25- No.- Nothing will give me greater pleasure than for that to sell for

0:08:25 > 0:08:2830 quid, and you tell me to eat my shirt. But otherwise, I just...

0:08:28 > 0:08:30Well, I heard him say that.

0:08:30 > 0:08:33- Very nice, very nice.- So four quid, you've got your first buy.

0:08:33 > 0:08:34Perfect. Perfect, I'm happy.

0:08:34 > 0:08:37And I wasn't consulted at any point in the process.

0:08:37 > 0:08:38Wow, a buy in four minutes.

0:08:38 > 0:08:40But not a team effort.

0:08:40 > 0:08:43Now, has Thomas found something for the Blues to focus on?

0:08:43 > 0:08:46Microscope...

0:08:46 > 0:08:47with lenses, in a box.

0:08:47 > 0:08:50- Oh, I do quite like that.- It's quite cool, isn't it?

0:08:50 > 0:08:52- Yeah, I do like that.- It's an old student's microscope,

0:08:52 > 0:08:56with lacquered brass fittings, with the lenses here.

0:08:56 > 0:08:58This is made by R and J Beck.

0:08:58 > 0:09:01And it's model number 22, so quite a nice, early model.

0:09:01 > 0:09:04So this would date from probably about the 1940s, 1950s.

0:09:04 > 0:09:06And are those all the original lenses?

0:09:06 > 0:09:09Yes, and you've got the original lenses in here, and these are...

0:09:09 > 0:09:11Oh, this is a Carl Zeiss.

0:09:11 > 0:09:16So Carl Zeiss lens - so a really good lens maker.

0:09:16 > 0:09:20Kelly, you're looking a little bit disinterested!

0:09:20 > 0:09:22No, i-it's not my key area but, you know...

0:09:22 > 0:09:25I do like that. Has it got a price on it?

0:09:25 > 0:09:27Excuse me?

0:09:27 > 0:09:30The microscope, the student microscope?

0:09:30 > 0:09:33- 85.- Could we look at...

0:09:33 > 0:09:36that figure a bit more, or not?

0:09:36 > 0:09:3870. That would be the absolute...

0:09:38 > 0:09:40- A big gamble?- It's a gamble.

0:09:40 > 0:09:42- OK.- I'll spin you.

0:09:42 > 0:09:4465 or 68.

0:09:44 > 0:09:47So it all comes down to the toss of a coin.

0:09:47 > 0:09:48- Call it.- Heads.

0:09:48 > 0:09:50- Yes, heads it is.- You got it.

0:09:50 > 0:09:54- 65.- And are we going to take that pound off as well, 64, or...?

0:09:54 > 0:09:55LAUGHTER

0:09:55 > 0:09:56That is really pushing it!

0:09:56 > 0:09:59You are a piece of work!

0:09:59 > 0:10:01- One down.- Let's go and find number two.

0:10:01 > 0:10:03- Yes.- I think Kelly's turn.

0:10:03 > 0:10:05- Absolutely!- Go on.

0:10:05 > 0:10:08Yep, that's one down, and the Blues have their first item.

0:10:08 > 0:10:11But I'm still not seeing any team work!

0:10:11 > 0:10:13Reds, how are you getting on?

0:10:13 > 0:10:15Simon, you've spotted these ladders.

0:10:15 > 0:10:17What do you like about those?

0:10:17 > 0:10:19They're usable, obviously. It's wood, tactile material,

0:10:19 > 0:10:22and I like the way they taper quite a lot at the top from the bottom.

0:10:22 > 0:10:24They do, they're ladders, that's why they do that.

0:10:24 > 0:10:25Otherwise, they'd fall over.

0:10:25 > 0:10:27No, not against the wall. A lot of ladders are parallel,

0:10:27 > 0:10:29you petulant so-and-so.

0:10:29 > 0:10:32I feel like a child in the middle of a sort of, you know, divorce here.

0:10:32 > 0:10:35- Yeah, tell me about it! - Don't worry, we still love you!

0:10:35 > 0:10:38- Both parents still love you!- So are we interested in these ladders?

0:10:38 > 0:10:40I'd like to find out what they're asking for them...

0:10:40 > 0:10:43- Shall we ask?- ..then it'll leave us a massive amount for the final buy.

0:10:43 > 0:10:46- OK.- Yeah.- All right. Right, OK, let's ask.

0:10:46 > 0:10:48Excuse me, how much are the steps?

0:10:48 > 0:10:49I'm looking for £60.

0:10:49 > 0:10:51What's the death on it? What's your absolute...?

0:10:51 > 0:10:54- The death on them would be 50. - No, let's go and have a row somewhere else.

0:10:54 > 0:10:56- Let's keep it in mind. - We know they're there,

0:10:56 > 0:10:58we can always come back. You'll take 50 if we come back?

0:10:58 > 0:11:01At least they both agree to put it on the back burner.

0:11:01 > 0:11:03Are the Blues still motoring along?

0:11:03 > 0:11:06- You were after a bit of jewellery, weren't you?- Yes.

0:11:06 > 0:11:08I love this car.

0:11:08 > 0:11:09That 1930s look.

0:11:09 > 0:11:12- Shall we have a look at it? Do you like that?- Yeah, let's have a look.

0:11:12 > 0:11:15Yeah? Can we have a look at this brooch in here?

0:11:15 > 0:11:16It's the car, the motor.

0:11:16 > 0:11:19- I knew which one it was! - You see, he was scanning, thinking,

0:11:19 > 0:11:21"Oh, what's going on here?"

0:11:21 > 0:11:22It looks amazing.

0:11:22 > 0:11:24Isn't that just so cool?

0:11:24 > 0:11:26What's it made of?

0:11:26 > 0:11:28- It's silver.- Is it? - And this is going to be paste.

0:11:28 > 0:11:32I've never seen this before.

0:11:32 > 0:11:33What's the price of this?

0:11:33 > 0:11:36- That's the bit you won't like! - What is it?- 220.

0:11:36 > 0:11:38Oh, no!

0:11:38 > 0:11:40What's the very, very best? It's a very rare thing.

0:11:40 > 0:11:42It is a rare thing. The best would be 180.

0:11:42 > 0:11:44Oh, no. That is a cool thing.

0:11:44 > 0:11:46Really, 180?

0:11:46 > 0:11:47No negotiation on that?

0:11:47 > 0:11:49180's it. That's it.

0:11:49 > 0:11:51Right, I think that's a bit much for us.

0:11:51 > 0:11:54- Yeah.- I really do. - High-end.- It's high-end, top-end.

0:11:54 > 0:11:56Kelly, anything else in here which you like the look of?

0:11:56 > 0:11:59- I think we should move on.- Move on? - But thank you very much.- Thank you.

0:11:59 > 0:12:01So the Blues agree to park the brooch.

0:12:01 > 0:12:04Now, Reds, have you found something of interest?

0:12:04 > 0:12:05These are quite interesting.

0:12:05 > 0:12:08- Very nice.- Nutcrackers. - They're Victorian, or something?

0:12:08 > 0:12:10They certainly look like that. They're nicely done.

0:12:10 > 0:12:13Well cast, aren't they? Love the cranium here, look at that.

0:12:13 > 0:12:16They've got a registration design number there.

0:12:16 > 0:12:18So it would be quite possible to trace that,

0:12:18 > 0:12:19so you can register the design.

0:12:19 > 0:12:22- Straight off.- It says here £80 is the asking price.

0:12:22 > 0:12:24They are nice. They're very different,

0:12:24 > 0:12:26I've never seen anything like that before...

0:12:26 > 0:12:29- Yeah.- ..and they're nice.- Right, guys, we've had nearly half an hour,

0:12:29 > 0:12:30all right? We got off to a good start.

0:12:30 > 0:12:32I've got a good feeling about these.

0:12:32 > 0:12:33- Really?- Yeah.- Do you like them that much?

0:12:33 > 0:12:36I think they're nice. You spotted them, they're your thing,

0:12:36 > 0:12:37but I think they're very, very nice.

0:12:37 > 0:12:40They're unusual, I've never seen anything like that before.

0:12:40 > 0:12:43They've got £80 on them. What's the very best price?

0:12:43 > 0:12:4465.

0:12:44 > 0:12:46£65.

0:12:46 > 0:12:49- What are you thinking?- I think that's an OK price, to be honest.

0:12:49 > 0:12:52It's something different. You spotted them, you liked them,

0:12:52 > 0:12:54- and I like 'em as well. - OK, here we are.

0:12:54 > 0:12:57- Let's do it, let's do it.- £65, and we'll get out of your hair.

0:12:59 > 0:13:01Well done, Reds. That's your second item bought.

0:13:01 > 0:13:04- It's your purchase.- No!

0:13:04 > 0:13:07I thought we had our first glimpse of harmony there.

0:13:07 > 0:13:09Let's not make any bones about this!

0:13:09 > 0:13:11- Oh!- Oh, dear, oh, dear.- Let's...

0:13:11 > 0:13:13With the Reds arguing amongst themselves,

0:13:13 > 0:13:16I'm taking a short break from the shopping.

0:13:21 > 0:13:23Paul, thank you for coming along

0:13:23 > 0:13:26and bringing these wonderful tiles.

0:13:26 > 0:13:30You're from the Ironbridge Gorge Museum.

0:13:30 > 0:13:35And this area was renowned for its tile making.

0:13:35 > 0:13:38Jackfield was at the centre of the tile industry.

0:13:38 > 0:13:41And the largest factory was Moore and Co.

0:13:41 > 0:13:43Not only the largest producer in United Kingdom,

0:13:43 > 0:13:45but across the whole of the world.

0:13:45 > 0:13:48The factory employed over 400 men and women

0:13:48 > 0:13:50and produced 20 million tiles per annum.

0:13:50 > 0:13:54And you can just see the size of the factory from this early

0:13:54 > 0:13:56photograph, with all the chimneys and the bottle kilns.

0:13:56 > 0:13:58An immense site.

0:13:58 > 0:14:01Now, these tiles are absolutely beautiful.

0:14:01 > 0:14:03This one is particularly appealing.

0:14:03 > 0:14:05This is what we call an encaustic tile,

0:14:05 > 0:14:09which means different colours of clays are inlaid into others.

0:14:09 > 0:14:11Not just a pattern from the top, is it?

0:14:11 > 0:14:14Not at all - the whole thing is solid clay, and so you have a slab

0:14:14 > 0:14:18of earthenware clay and then you put an indentation or impression in it,

0:14:18 > 0:14:20and then different clays are inlaid.

0:14:20 > 0:14:25Or, if they use a liquid clay, poured into those indentations.

0:14:25 > 0:14:28But, typically, it'd have gone on to these transfer piles.

0:14:28 > 0:14:31So here it's a blank tile, but the pattern, rather than being handmade,

0:14:31 > 0:14:35is transferred using various techniques onto a blank tile.

0:14:35 > 0:14:39But this one is a different story, cos it actually tells a story,

0:14:39 > 0:14:42and that was another part of tiles in the Victorian period.

0:14:42 > 0:14:43So in hospitals, in schools,

0:14:43 > 0:14:47you'd have had allegorical stories portrayed through tiles.

0:14:47 > 0:14:50There are two tiles there which took

0:14:50 > 0:14:54my attention immediately.

0:14:54 > 0:14:57And these - these are something quite, quite special.

0:14:57 > 0:15:00Well, these are made by the designer William De Morgan.

0:15:00 > 0:15:02De Morgan was a contemporary of William Morris,

0:15:02 > 0:15:05and at the heart of the Arts and Crafts movement.

0:15:05 > 0:15:08This movement was more a rebellion against mass production.

0:15:08 > 0:15:11And so, by contrast, these aren't transfers,

0:15:11 > 0:15:12these are all hand-painted.

0:15:12 > 0:15:15So here we see one of De Morgan's

0:15:15 > 0:15:18almost mythical beasts with the fish.

0:15:18 > 0:15:20Now, here we've got these wonderful colours,

0:15:20 > 0:15:24inspired by the Persian colours and these wonderful flowers.

0:15:24 > 0:15:27Much prized in their day, and still highly prized in today's times.

0:15:27 > 0:15:31When you think of it, these tiles,

0:15:31 > 0:15:34they decorated the grand halls,

0:15:34 > 0:15:37the palaces - not just of Britain,

0:15:37 > 0:15:40but of the whole world.

0:15:40 > 0:15:45And they came from this area here.

0:15:45 > 0:15:48Thank you so much for bringing them along and showing them to us.

0:15:55 > 0:15:57Back to the shopping, and things are getting tense.

0:15:57 > 0:16:02With only 25 minutes left, the Reds are ahead with two items to one.

0:16:02 > 0:16:04But how are they getting on?

0:16:04 > 0:16:08I feel like a schoolteacher with two unruly children here.

0:16:08 > 0:16:09They're bickering and arguing.

0:16:09 > 0:16:12No, you don't get a bit more because you blew it on your first purchase.

0:16:12 > 0:16:13Yeah, but I made...

0:16:13 > 0:16:16Their tactics are changing from one minute to the next.

0:16:16 > 0:16:18And we've got a couple of purchases,

0:16:18 > 0:16:20but we've still got a large chunk of money,

0:16:20 > 0:16:24and they're undecided whether to spend it all, or to spend small now.

0:16:24 > 0:16:29So, really, I don't know. These are two real wild cards.

0:16:29 > 0:16:32Now, how's Thomas faring with the Blues?

0:16:32 > 0:16:33Do you think we should go inside?

0:16:33 > 0:16:35Are there pretty, sparkly things inside?

0:16:35 > 0:16:38There are lots of pretty, sparkly things inside for you, Kelly.

0:16:38 > 0:16:40- OK.- Come on. - THEY LAUGH

0:16:40 > 0:16:44With two items still to buy, will the change of scene help?

0:16:44 > 0:16:46So what is this? What do you think these are?

0:16:46 > 0:16:50- It's quite a bit of glass on here, isn't it?- OK.

0:16:50 > 0:16:52- Yeah? So this is a clip.- Oh!

0:16:52 > 0:16:56You would have worn it - a lady would have worn it - on her dress,

0:16:56 > 0:16:57- little dress clip.- Very nice.

0:16:57 > 0:16:59And then she would need to read something.

0:16:59 > 0:17:01So instead of going to a chemist,

0:17:01 > 0:17:05where you can buy a 1.99 pair of glasses, she's got this.

0:17:05 > 0:17:06Oh!

0:17:06 > 0:17:08And then she can read whatever she wants.

0:17:08 > 0:17:10- Isn't that good?- I like those.

0:17:10 > 0:17:12- Do you like them? - What are they made of?

0:17:12 > 0:17:13It's chromium-plated,

0:17:13 > 0:17:15so it's a base metal with a chromium plating to it.

0:17:15 > 0:17:18- And they're very deco, aren't they? - Yeah.- They're sweet.

0:17:18 > 0:17:20- Yeah.- You like those?

0:17:20 > 0:17:22I like them. I'm just... Is it a limited market?

0:17:22 > 0:17:24No, not really. People collect lorgnettes.

0:17:24 > 0:17:26These are marcasites in here.

0:17:26 > 0:17:30Which is a simulant, made to look like a gemstone, but it's not.

0:17:30 > 0:17:32And do you know the best thing about them?

0:17:32 > 0:17:34- Go on.- What do you think the price is?

0:17:34 > 0:17:36- Ooh!- Yes, super-cheap.

0:17:36 > 0:17:38- Yes.- £16.50.

0:17:38 > 0:17:40- Yes.- Yes?- What do you think, do you like it?

0:17:40 > 0:17:43- Do you like the idea of it? - I like the idea of it.

0:17:43 > 0:17:45I think we've got more money than that to spend.

0:17:45 > 0:17:48- Yeah.- But this is your second item, come on.

0:17:48 > 0:17:51But this is a really nice pair of lorgnettes.

0:17:51 > 0:17:53It's got a really good action, it's 16...

0:17:53 > 0:17:56- It's a no-brainer!- OK. - It's a profit item.

0:17:56 > 0:17:57Come on, girls!

0:17:57 > 0:17:59What's the best on those?

0:17:59 > 0:18:00Oof! £16.

0:18:00 > 0:18:03- Can we do a bit better?- We don't do anything under £20.

0:18:03 > 0:18:05I know, I bet you wouldn't, but I'm asking...

0:18:05 > 0:18:07- £15.- Oh, good man!

0:18:07 > 0:18:09Yes?

0:18:09 > 0:18:11- You're a star, sir. - BLUES:- Thank you.

0:18:11 > 0:18:12Well done, Thomas.

0:18:12 > 0:18:15Now, with 20 minutes left, the Reds have their eye on the time.

0:18:15 > 0:18:17It's engraved.

0:18:17 > 0:18:19OK, can you read that?

0:18:19 > 0:18:25Let's have a look. It's engraved to a lance corporal, AS Martin.

0:18:25 > 0:18:26World War I presentation.

0:18:26 > 0:18:30- Ah.- It's a transition from a pocket watch to a wristwatch.

0:18:30 > 0:18:32- Is it in working condition?- Yes.

0:18:32 > 0:18:34- It is?- Manual wind.

0:18:34 > 0:18:3615 jewel lever movement.

0:18:36 > 0:18:38It's £155.

0:18:38 > 0:18:42- Is there a best price?- The best I could do would be 140.

0:18:42 > 0:18:44140.

0:18:44 > 0:18:45Do you want to think about it?

0:18:45 > 0:18:48- We'll have a look round, see what else we see.- I know it's here now.

0:18:48 > 0:18:50So maybe one to come back to. And no quarrels.

0:18:50 > 0:18:52It seems there is hope.

0:18:52 > 0:18:56Now, with time flying by, what have the Blues swooped in on?

0:18:56 > 0:18:58- You like the ducks?- Yes.

0:18:58 > 0:19:01It's very sort of Vera Duckworth on the wall, isn't it,

0:19:01 > 0:19:03Coronation Street? £295.

0:19:03 > 0:19:06- Right.- Hang on a minute, though, how much money have you got left?

0:19:06 > 0:19:09- 220.- 220 - you could do the deal of the century.

0:19:10 > 0:19:13Mm? You could really work some magic.

0:19:13 > 0:19:15A little silver compact, it is beautiful.

0:19:15 > 0:19:17Look at that. Silver and enamel.

0:19:17 > 0:19:19Guilloche enamel on there,

0:19:19 > 0:19:22look at that lovely picture of the flying ducks.

0:19:22 > 0:19:24- Do you like it?- I do. When was that made?

0:19:24 > 0:19:261965.

0:19:26 > 0:19:27It's a beautiful thing.

0:19:27 > 0:19:29There is a little bit of damage on the top.

0:19:29 > 0:19:31- Is that a problem?- Well, they can get that restored,

0:19:31 > 0:19:34that enamel restoration. it can be done.

0:19:34 > 0:19:35It's a big risk.

0:19:35 > 0:19:37- Do you really like that?- No, no.

0:19:37 > 0:19:39Let's move on, let's go this way.

0:19:39 > 0:19:42Nice try, Thomas, but clearly it's a no from the Blues.

0:19:42 > 0:19:45Reds, are these salt and pepper pots hitting the right note?

0:19:45 > 0:19:47What have they got on the back?

0:19:47 > 0:19:49They're marked, sterling, I think.

0:19:49 > 0:19:51Sterling, marked sterling. Such a novel, aren't they?

0:19:51 > 0:19:54- They're different.- They're different, and they are usable.

0:19:54 > 0:19:57- They've got 85 quid on them.- I'll do them for 70 quid if you want them.

0:19:57 > 0:19:59If you wanted them, 70 quid.

0:19:59 > 0:20:02Do you want to have a look? Have a look up and down?

0:20:02 > 0:20:03We'll keep it in mind.

0:20:03 > 0:20:06We're going to walk down here, might be back in a second.

0:20:06 > 0:20:08They may not like them, but at least they agree.

0:20:08 > 0:20:11Over with the Blues, Thomas is taking charge.

0:20:11 > 0:20:14Right, council of war time. You know, you have seen a lot of stuff!

0:20:14 > 0:20:15Yeah.

0:20:15 > 0:20:18- I like the car.- Yeah.- I think it's a great lot.

0:20:18 > 0:20:20- It's a big risk, but I like it. - Yeah.

0:20:20 > 0:20:23- I like the car, I think we should... - Maybe we should take a risk.

0:20:23 > 0:20:25Do you think you should take the risk?

0:20:25 > 0:20:27- Come on.- Keep looking as we're going, something might pop out.

0:20:27 > 0:20:29So the Blues have a plan.

0:20:29 > 0:20:33Now, with just ten minutes left, the Reds still have an eye on the time.

0:20:33 > 0:20:34What have they found?

0:20:34 > 0:20:36You said you wanted to show me a watch?

0:20:36 > 0:20:39- Where?- Yeah, watches sort of press my buttons - this little,

0:20:39 > 0:20:40with the enamelled blue bezel on it.

0:20:40 > 0:20:42I just wanted to know if that was anything?

0:20:42 > 0:20:45That's quite sweet, isn't it? It's enamel, it's got the fleur-de-lis,

0:20:45 > 0:20:47so I would suggest French, as you say.

0:20:47 > 0:20:51This wonderful blue guilloche enamelling, which is stunning.

0:20:51 > 0:20:53- Beautiful, the back, isn't it? - Very nice.

0:20:53 > 0:20:55Stunning. The winding crown here is still at 12 o'clock.

0:20:55 > 0:20:57- Right.- So this is slightly earlier.

0:20:57 > 0:20:59So this is, I would've said,

0:20:59 > 0:21:01- probably turn of the last century, isn't it?- OK.

0:21:01 > 0:21:0514 carat. We can have a look in the back.

0:21:05 > 0:21:06Here we go - anything written?

0:21:06 > 0:21:09Swiss-made, a Swiss movement, 14 carat,

0:21:09 > 0:21:11case is stamped as well.

0:21:11 > 0:21:13And we can see in there at the movement...

0:21:13 > 0:21:16- Oh, I say, look at that.- And it's working nice, the balance is there,

0:21:16 > 0:21:17oscillating quite nice.

0:21:17 > 0:21:19Asking price is 245.

0:21:19 > 0:21:21How much we got left?

0:21:21 > 0:21:24We've got 231 left.

0:21:24 > 0:21:28So it's a bit out of our budget, unless we can get something off.

0:21:28 > 0:21:30Absolutely, we can only ask.

0:21:30 > 0:21:34So what is the very best, what's the very best price you can do this?

0:21:34 > 0:21:36Very best price would be 180.

0:21:36 > 0:21:39I think that's a better bet than the transitional watch.

0:21:39 > 0:21:41It's a brave purchase, but it's a quality item.

0:21:41 > 0:21:44- And it's gold.- It's a nice thing. 14 carat gold.- Yeah.

0:21:44 > 0:21:45- Let's do it.- Are you happy?- Yeah, absolutely.

0:21:45 > 0:21:48- You're happy?- You're preaching to the choir.- You're agreeing?

0:21:48 > 0:21:50I'm liking this. Come to the end and there's no more fighting.

0:21:50 > 0:21:52Well done, then, lads, £180.

0:21:52 > 0:21:54We'll take it.

0:21:54 > 0:21:56The Reds have finished and are still friends.

0:21:56 > 0:21:58Meanwhile, the Blues have been motoring around,

0:21:58 > 0:22:02but haven't found anything, so it's all down to the car brooch.

0:22:02 > 0:22:04- Hopefully it's still there.- Yes.

0:22:04 > 0:22:07- Oh, yes, it's still there. - Still there.- Excuse me?

0:22:07 > 0:22:11It is still here. Your car.

0:22:11 > 0:22:13- What was the best on it?- 170.

0:22:13 > 0:22:15That'll give me a 20 quid profit.

0:22:15 > 0:22:17170, give him a £20 profit?

0:22:17 > 0:22:19Can we meet you in the middle at 160?

0:22:19 > 0:22:22I'd rather keep it. I'm being honest, I really would.

0:22:22 > 0:22:25It'll have to be 170 or nothing. I know that's harsh, but...

0:22:25 > 0:22:26165?

0:22:26 > 0:22:28- No.- Did you say 165 earlier, though?

0:22:28 > 0:22:29That was the price you gave earlier?

0:22:29 > 0:22:31No, 170. 180.

0:22:31 > 0:22:35- 165?- I'll do 165. - OK.- 165.- Deal.

0:22:35 > 0:22:37Look at those! She's a devil!

0:22:37 > 0:22:38You are unbelievable!

0:22:38 > 0:22:41She's a piece of work. Headteacher material.

0:22:41 > 0:22:43- Headteacher!- Thank you.

0:22:43 > 0:22:44We appreciate that.

0:22:44 > 0:22:47- Loving your work.- No, you're very welcome.- Thank you.

0:22:47 > 0:22:48Thank you, thank you.

0:22:48 > 0:22:50- Happy?- Thank you!

0:22:50 > 0:22:53- You're welcome.- Yes?- Yes!

0:22:53 > 0:22:54SHE HONKS HORN

0:22:54 > 0:22:56Those 60 minutes are now up.

0:22:56 > 0:22:59- Three items in. Oh!- Done.

0:22:59 > 0:23:02- Off you go, come on. I want a drink. - THEY LAUGH

0:23:02 > 0:23:05Let's look at what the Reds bought.

0:23:05 > 0:23:08First up is John's large paperweight,

0:23:08 > 0:23:10weighing in at just £4.

0:23:13 > 0:23:16Next is the novelty nutcracker.

0:23:16 > 0:23:18It cost £65.

0:23:21 > 0:23:24And finally, the small watch

0:23:24 > 0:23:26set them back £180.

0:23:28 > 0:23:32Well, well, well, you're the guys that couldn't agree.

0:23:32 > 0:23:36You bought your first item four minutes in for £4!

0:23:36 > 0:23:37Yeah.

0:23:37 > 0:23:41And you were the guy that wanted to spend big.

0:23:41 > 0:23:43But, John, they still are smiling.

0:23:43 > 0:23:46They are. It was quite remarkable, actually, it ended on a really nice,

0:23:46 > 0:23:49calm note. A complete contrast to how it all started.

0:23:49 > 0:23:50What was your favourite item?

0:23:50 > 0:23:52The favourite has got to be my choice, the watch.

0:23:52 > 0:23:55It was just so beautifully made. It's just a lovely thing.

0:23:55 > 0:23:57- And what was your favourite item? - Close one. Paperweight.

0:23:57 > 0:24:00- You like the paperweight? - I did, I loved it.

0:24:00 > 0:24:03What's the item that's going to make the most money?

0:24:03 > 0:24:05I think it's going to be his nasty

0:24:05 > 0:24:08waste of glass that is the paperweight!

0:24:08 > 0:24:13- Oh, right.- Moneywise, I think that the watch might do quite well.

0:24:13 > 0:24:15How much money did you spend in all?

0:24:15 > 0:24:17We spent £249.

0:24:17 > 0:24:19£51, please.

0:24:19 > 0:24:22It's not a lot of money, John.

0:24:22 > 0:24:26It should cover my first session of counselling anyway!

0:24:26 > 0:24:29Are you going to be able to get something that both the boys like?

0:24:29 > 0:24:31Yeah, I think so.

0:24:31 > 0:24:35While John goes off to do his very best,

0:24:35 > 0:24:38let's have a look at what the Blues have bought.

0:24:38 > 0:24:43They started off with the student telescope, which cost £65.

0:24:45 > 0:24:48Next, will the Art Deco folding glasses see a profit?

0:24:52 > 0:24:56Finally, will the bidders be racing after the car brooch?

0:25:01 > 0:25:03Smiles on your faces. Did you have a good time?

0:25:03 > 0:25:07- We did.- Did you drive Thomas nuts?

0:25:07 > 0:25:09I think we definitely did!

0:25:09 > 0:25:11We may have a little bit, yes.

0:25:11 > 0:25:13My lips are sealed.

0:25:13 > 0:25:16- They were good spenders. - Big spenders?- Big spenders!

0:25:16 > 0:25:18What was your favourite item?

0:25:18 > 0:25:22- I like the little feather glasses. - I like the microscope.

0:25:22 > 0:25:25Really nice, got its own box, I think it's a really classy piece.

0:25:25 > 0:25:27But are your little lorgnettes

0:25:27 > 0:25:29going to make the best profit?

0:25:29 > 0:25:31I think they are going to make the best profit, yes.

0:25:31 > 0:25:34- All right.- I agree, I think that will be the best profit.

0:25:34 > 0:25:37Remind me again how much you spent?

0:25:37 > 0:25:39£245?

0:25:39 > 0:25:41Could you give me £55, please?

0:25:41 > 0:25:44- Thank you.- £55, Thomas.

0:25:44 > 0:25:48Now, I believe these girls might be hard to please?

0:25:48 > 0:25:52- Spend it wisely!- Gosh, that is some pressure there, Anita!

0:25:52 > 0:25:56To please such beautiful girls, and so fussy!

0:25:57 > 0:25:58It's going to be a challenge.

0:25:58 > 0:26:00But I'm going to try.

0:26:00 > 0:26:04While Thomas goes off to buy something that he hopes

0:26:04 > 0:26:06will please these fussy girls,

0:26:06 > 0:26:08we're off to the auction.

0:26:16 > 0:26:21Today, we're at Trevanion and Dean auctioneers in Shropshire

0:26:21 > 0:26:24with today's auctioneer, Christina Trevanion.

0:26:24 > 0:26:27- It's such a joy to welcome you here, Anita.- It's wonderful to be here.

0:26:27 > 0:26:29- Thank you.- Well, let's look at the Reds first.

0:26:29 > 0:26:31- OK.- Simon and John.

0:26:31 > 0:26:35Their first item is this large, modernist paperweight.

0:26:35 > 0:26:38There's something wonderful about having a paperweight on your desk.

0:26:38 > 0:26:41We have a lot of other paperweights in this sale, funnily enough.

0:26:41 > 0:26:43Good, good - that might draw the collectors.

0:26:43 > 0:26:46- Exactly, yeah.- What's your estimate?

0:26:46 > 0:26:48I put, as a decorative thing, £20-£30.

0:26:48 > 0:26:50That's wonderful, Christina...

0:26:50 > 0:26:53- Oh, is it?- ..because they only paid £4 for it.

0:26:53 > 0:26:54- Oh, did they?- Yes.

0:26:54 > 0:26:57- Blimey, that is a good buy!- Could be a big profit there.

0:26:57 > 0:26:58I hope so. That is good.

0:26:58 > 0:27:02Their second item is this rather macabre...

0:27:02 > 0:27:04- Yeah!- ..nutcracker.

0:27:04 > 0:27:06I think they're great. I absolutely love them.

0:27:06 > 0:27:09When I unpacked them, I was a little bit terrified.

0:27:09 > 0:27:12Nutcracker collectors, obviously, are looking for the unusual items,

0:27:12 > 0:27:16they're not just looking for the fairly standard, very boring examples.

0:27:16 > 0:27:19And you couldn't get more weird and wacky and brilliant than that.

0:27:19 > 0:27:21- Estimate?- £40-£60.

0:27:21 > 0:27:25- £40-£60.- I would hope they'd go top end of that, really.- Yeah.

0:27:25 > 0:27:28- Well, they've paid £65...- Great buy. - ..but they could get there?

0:27:28 > 0:27:30- Oh, definitely.- Now, their third item.

0:27:30 > 0:27:33Simon, he loves watches, he wanted to buy a watch.

0:27:33 > 0:27:35And he's bought this example.

0:27:35 > 0:27:38It's 14 carat, it's beautifully enamelled.

0:27:38 > 0:27:39Do you like it?

0:27:39 > 0:27:41It is, it is quite exquisite.

0:27:41 > 0:27:44And on the back, obviously, you've got that wonderful fleur-de-lis

0:27:44 > 0:27:48decoration. It really does show us the sort of transition between a

0:27:48 > 0:27:50fob watch and a lady's wristwatch in this instance.

0:27:50 > 0:27:52It's quite early, 1920.

0:27:52 > 0:27:55And you can see that transition there, really.

0:27:55 > 0:27:59- What's your estimate?- I've hedged my bets, I've said £80-£120.

0:27:59 > 0:28:02I would hope it would sort of fetch the middle ground.

0:28:02 > 0:28:05- They paid £180.- Ouch! OK.

0:28:05 > 0:28:07- It's a lot of money.- Yes.

0:28:07 > 0:28:10When you buy things with your heart, you tend to pay a little bit more.

0:28:10 > 0:28:11Hopefully it'll fetch that.

0:28:11 > 0:28:14- I-I don't think it will get quite that much.- Yeah.

0:28:14 > 0:28:17So not too bad news on the Reds.

0:28:17 > 0:28:19They may not need their bonus buy,

0:28:19 > 0:28:21but let's go and have a look at it anyway.

0:28:23 > 0:28:25John, what did you buy?

0:28:25 > 0:28:26You guys left me £51,

0:28:26 > 0:28:30I was determined to keep something back for some counselling.

0:28:30 > 0:28:32And I did, and bought this.

0:28:32 > 0:28:36This lovely pewter necklace.

0:28:36 > 0:28:38- You heard of Georg Jensen? - BOTH:- Yes.

0:28:38 > 0:28:40Well, it's not Georg Jensen, it's his son, Jorgen Jensen.

0:28:40 > 0:28:44- OK.- But it's designed, if you have a look closely,

0:28:44 > 0:28:46as a marine chain and stylised anchor.

0:28:46 > 0:28:49So, interesting design, never seen one before.

0:28:49 > 0:28:50Nice and stylish.

0:28:50 > 0:28:53That cost me £20.

0:28:53 > 0:28:55We are relying on the name and the design of the piece.

0:28:55 > 0:28:58- But for £20...- Can't go wrong. - ..can't go much wrong, can you?

0:28:58 > 0:29:02You seem a wee bit underwhelmed?

0:29:02 > 0:29:04- Um...that's the word. - Well, yeah.

0:29:04 > 0:29:08It's interesting. It's an interesting thing.

0:29:08 > 0:29:10Do you like it?

0:29:10 > 0:29:13- Actually, that's not bad.- What are the stones - is it just glass?

0:29:13 > 0:29:16Yeah, they'll just be glass. It's a stylish thing, I really like it.

0:29:16 > 0:29:19- You don't need to make up your mind at the moment.- Good.

0:29:19 > 0:29:22You wait until your first three items have been sold.

0:29:22 > 0:29:27But now we're going to go and see what the auctioneer thinks

0:29:27 > 0:29:29of John's modernist pendant.

0:29:30 > 0:29:33- So, Christina, we both like jewellery...- Mm.

0:29:33 > 0:29:38..and here is a piece of Danish modernist jewellery.

0:29:38 > 0:29:40I love it. I love the fact that it's in pewter,

0:29:40 > 0:29:43it's not in any particular precious metal.

0:29:43 > 0:29:45It was designing for design's sake.

0:29:45 > 0:29:47It's the design that counts.

0:29:47 > 0:29:48Yeah, exactly.

0:29:48 > 0:29:50- Yeah.- Estimate on this?

0:29:50 > 0:29:52Well, I've put £40-£60 on it.

0:29:52 > 0:29:55John only paid £20.

0:29:55 > 0:29:57Really? Gosh, that is a very good buy.

0:29:57 > 0:29:59- A good buy.- Yeah. Well spotted.

0:29:59 > 0:30:03- Let's go to the Blues, Kelly and Elisa.- Yeah.

0:30:03 > 0:30:05Now, they both work in schools...

0:30:05 > 0:30:07- Ah!- ..so I suppose it's pretty obvious

0:30:07 > 0:30:11- when we look at this student's microscope.- Yeah.

0:30:11 > 0:30:13Tell me, what do you think of it?

0:30:13 > 0:30:14I think it's a great, fun thing.

0:30:14 > 0:30:18But it is a fairly basic model. It's a fun display thing.

0:30:18 > 0:30:21I don't think anyone would really buy it to use it,

0:30:21 > 0:30:23- to be perfectly honest. - It's not uncommon?

0:30:23 > 0:30:26- Not uncommon, no. - What's your estimate?

0:30:26 > 0:30:28My estimate, I have put £40-£60 on it.

0:30:28 > 0:30:31£40-£60. They paid £65.

0:30:31 > 0:30:33Right, OK. Top end.

0:30:33 > 0:30:35- So there might be a wee bit of difficulty in that one?- Yeah.

0:30:35 > 0:30:38The second item is this

0:30:38 > 0:30:42set of vintage folding glasses.

0:30:42 > 0:30:44Don't you just love those, Christina?

0:30:44 > 0:30:45I think they're fantastic.

0:30:45 > 0:30:48I mean, you... I'm always losing my specs, always.

0:30:48 > 0:30:51You can pop them on there, and I just think they're brilliant.

0:30:51 > 0:30:54- What you have there, Christina... - They're wild, aren't they?

0:30:54 > 0:30:55- ..style.- Yeah.

0:30:55 > 0:30:59- Absolutely!- And that's what the cool kids are looking for.

0:30:59 > 0:31:02Well, I've put them in at £15-£20 as a bit of fun.

0:31:02 > 0:31:03Bit of vintage fun.

0:31:03 > 0:31:06Bit of sparkly marcasite fun.

0:31:06 > 0:31:10- They paid £15...- Brilliant.- ..so we're looking hopefully with these?

0:31:10 > 0:31:11Absolutely.

0:31:11 > 0:31:14On their next item, a brooch

0:31:14 > 0:31:17in the form of a Bugatti car.

0:31:17 > 0:31:20I just swoon when I see this.

0:31:20 > 0:31:24It just is so beautiful, isn't it?

0:31:24 > 0:31:251920s.

0:31:25 > 0:31:29It really takes us back to those wonderful flapper days of the 1920s.

0:31:29 > 0:31:33Can you imagine wearing that brooch, climbing into your Bugatti,

0:31:33 > 0:31:37- sparkling away? Love it. - Your estimate on that?

0:31:37 > 0:31:39I've put it at £50-£70.

0:31:39 > 0:31:41They have paid

0:31:41 > 0:31:44£165 for this.

0:31:44 > 0:31:45They really liked it

0:31:45 > 0:31:47and they stuck their necks out.

0:31:47 > 0:31:51And I think they were very right to do so, and I hope I'm wrong.

0:31:51 > 0:31:53That might take a flyer, Christina.

0:31:53 > 0:31:55Just in case it doesn't,

0:31:55 > 0:31:58we're going to go and have a look at what Thomas

0:31:58 > 0:32:00bought for his bonus buy.

0:32:01 > 0:32:04Well, Kelly, Elisa, this is exciting,

0:32:04 > 0:32:07we're about to see Thomas' bonus buy.

0:32:07 > 0:32:09The girls spent £245.

0:32:09 > 0:32:12They left you £55, Thomas. Show us what you bought.

0:32:12 > 0:32:14Well, girls, I got you something immensely stylish.

0:32:14 > 0:32:17This is... It's the model of a radiator grill,

0:32:17 > 0:32:20but it's not just a radiator grill from a car.

0:32:20 > 0:32:23It's actually a cigarette case and a lighter.

0:32:23 > 0:32:27It's by the famous lighter manufacturers Ronson.

0:32:27 > 0:32:31Because we bought that fabulous car brooch, I thought,

0:32:31 > 0:32:35"Well, this looks like the front end of a fabulous Rolls-Royce."

0:32:35 > 0:32:38Now, there are collectors out here for lighters, certainly.

0:32:38 > 0:32:41And also you've got the whole automobilia scene.

0:32:41 > 0:32:42And how much did it cost?

0:32:42 > 0:32:46Well, this is so expensive...

0:32:46 > 0:32:47at £20.

0:32:47 > 0:32:49So, girls, what do you think of it?

0:32:49 > 0:32:51- I quite like it.- Yeah, I think it's OK.

0:32:51 > 0:32:53- That's not the reaction I wanted, Elisa.- I'm sorry.

0:32:53 > 0:32:56Just "OK"? You don't love it?

0:32:56 > 0:32:58- Not bowled over...- No.- ..but it is what it is.

0:32:58 > 0:33:01Killer question - how much did you spend?

0:33:01 > 0:33:02I spent £20 on this.

0:33:02 > 0:33:04SHE EXHALES

0:33:04 > 0:33:05You haven't asked the question.

0:33:05 > 0:33:08- What's the question?- How much do you think it's going to make?

0:33:08 > 0:33:10Absolutely!

0:33:10 > 0:33:12You're on the money today, aren't you?

0:33:12 > 0:33:15How much is it going to make? Well, I think there's a good profit in it.

0:33:15 > 0:33:17I really do. At least £10-£20 there.

0:33:17 > 0:33:19Not entirely convinced, girls?

0:33:19 > 0:33:22You don't need to make up your mind just now, girls.

0:33:22 > 0:33:23Wait till the auction.

0:33:23 > 0:33:25But in the meantime,

0:33:25 > 0:33:28let's find out if the auctioneer

0:33:28 > 0:33:30likes Thomas' lighter.

0:33:31 > 0:33:35Thomas is a man of style, and he bought a very stylish item.

0:33:35 > 0:33:37- What do you think of it? - I like it. I like it very much.

0:33:37 > 0:33:39Obviously by Ronson,

0:33:39 > 0:33:42who are very famous manufacturers of these cigarette lighters,

0:33:42 > 0:33:46and they are very collectible. They are great as multifunctional pieces

0:33:46 > 0:33:49as well. Obviously a great name when it comes to cigarette lighters.

0:33:49 > 0:33:53You've got your case there and your lighter above.

0:33:53 > 0:33:55Yeah, I mean, it just screams Art Deco, doesn't it?

0:33:55 > 0:33:58This sort of wonderful Bakelite-effect finish.

0:33:58 > 0:34:00Estimate on this, Christina?

0:34:00 > 0:34:03- £20-£30 at auction.- That's not bad.

0:34:03 > 0:34:05Thomas only paid £20.

0:34:05 > 0:34:07- That's not bad at all.- Could make a profit there?

0:34:07 > 0:34:09- Yes.- Are you going to take the auction today?

0:34:09 > 0:34:13- I am, yes.- Oh, terrific! I'm looking forward to that.

0:34:18 > 0:34:20INAUDIBLE

0:34:20 > 0:34:22Simon, John,

0:34:22 > 0:34:24how do you feel this morning?

0:34:24 > 0:34:26- Nervous.- Trepidacious, yeah.

0:34:26 > 0:34:30Oh, nervous? Nervous? And you don't look the nervous type.

0:34:30 > 0:34:32I'm not normally, but I am today.

0:34:32 > 0:34:34Nervous but confident at the same time. I think we'll do all right.

0:34:34 > 0:34:39Yeah? Well, your first item is that large paperweight.

0:34:39 > 0:34:41You only paid £4 for that.

0:34:41 > 0:34:45Let's hope you make a profit, because it's coming up now, guys.

0:34:45 > 0:34:46Good luck.

0:34:46 > 0:34:50Lot 185 is this really rather lovely large paperweight.

0:34:50 > 0:34:52Bid me £20 for it.

0:34:52 > 0:34:53Lovely example, this.

0:34:53 > 0:34:55£20. 20 is bid straight away.

0:34:55 > 0:34:5725, madam? 25, I have.

0:34:57 > 0:34:59It's against you online. It's 25 in the room.

0:34:59 > 0:35:00Will you go 30?

0:35:00 > 0:35:02At 25, I have here.

0:35:02 > 0:35:0330, madam? 30.

0:35:03 > 0:35:0535.

0:35:05 > 0:35:08Thank you, anyway. At £35, with the lady seated, at £35.

0:35:08 > 0:35:10- Looking for 40 now. - This is the winner.
