0:01:06 > 0:01:09Today's Bargain Hunt comes from the South of England Showground,

0:01:09 > 0:01:12and, boy, oh, boy, have we got a show for you today.

0:01:12 > 0:01:15We've got two willing teams waiting in the wings,

0:01:15 > 0:01:18so let's carry on with proceedings and take a look at what's coming up.

0:01:21 > 0:01:23The Reds are out of their league.

0:01:23 > 0:01:25We just wondered what you're asking for it?

0:01:25 > 0:01:27- £400.- Thank you.

0:01:27 > 0:01:29Ouch!

0:01:29 > 0:01:30Panic sets in with the Blues.

0:01:30 > 0:01:34If it's gone... I feel like we're going to buy it.

0:01:34 > 0:01:37And things hit rock-bottom at the auction.

0:01:37 > 0:01:41- 50p.- Not a hand in sight.- Done!

0:01:41 > 0:01:44And I experience a trip of a lifetime.

0:01:44 > 0:01:47I can't quite believe that we are doing this.

0:01:48 > 0:01:51But that's all coming up a little later on.

0:01:51 > 0:01:54First, it's time to meet today's teams.

0:01:54 > 0:01:56And everyone today is a married couple.

0:01:56 > 0:02:00For the Reds we have Kabi and Holly and for the Blues,

0:02:00 > 0:02:03we have Johnny and Katie. Welcome, everyone. ALL: Hello!

0:02:03 > 0:02:05Thank you for joining us on Bargain Hunt today.

0:02:05 > 0:02:07Holly, I'm coming straight to you first.

0:02:07 > 0:02:09- Great.- I'd love to know how you and Kabi met.

0:02:09 > 0:02:14We were introduced through my cousin who was at university with Kabi.

0:02:14 > 0:02:18And now we are married for 14 years and have two children called Sammy and Poppy.

0:02:18 > 0:02:22That's lovely. And I believe that once romance blossomed then

0:02:22 > 0:02:23business came with it, too.

0:02:23 > 0:02:27Yes. We run a fashion PR agency in Shoreditch and we organise things

0:02:27 > 0:02:31like catwalks and spend our day talking to the media about fashion,

0:02:31 > 0:02:34- which is great.- So, when you're not working, Holly,

0:02:34 > 0:02:36tell me what you do in your spare time.

0:02:36 > 0:02:39We love to be outdoors so we go hiking and love going up to

0:02:39 > 0:02:42the Lake District with the kids and climbing all those fells.

0:02:42 > 0:02:45Now, Kabi, a little birdie tells me you're a bit of a hoarder but you

0:02:45 > 0:02:47don't often buy antiques.

0:02:47 > 0:02:49What are you more accustomed to buying?

0:02:49 > 0:02:53Yeah, much to Holly's chagrin, a lot of my collecting is potentially

0:02:53 > 0:02:57hoarding, and it all started for me in the late '80s with a jeans

0:02:57 > 0:02:59commercial in a launderette that got me buying jeans.

0:02:59 > 0:03:01How many pairs of jeans are we talking?

0:03:01 > 0:03:04- Over 100 but I wouldn't say specifically.- Seriously?

0:03:04 > 0:03:06Over 100 pairs of jeans?

0:03:06 > 0:03:08- It's our work.- I suppose.

0:03:08 > 0:03:11So you've obviously got an eye for buying antiques as well as fashion,

0:03:11 > 0:03:14so how do you reckon you're going to work today as the Red team on

0:03:14 > 0:03:17- Bargain Hunt?- I'm hoping today we'll be synchronised,

0:03:17 > 0:03:21we'll get the job done really quickly and buy things that we would like.

0:03:21 > 0:03:23Oh, cool. It sounds like a bit of a democracy.

0:03:23 > 0:03:25No-one in particular going to be in charge?

0:03:25 > 0:03:26I think it will be a joint effort.

0:03:26 > 0:03:29- Yeah.- Brilliant. Well, let's move on to your competitors.

0:03:29 > 0:03:31Katie and Johnny. I'm going to start with you, Johnny.

0:03:31 > 0:03:33Tell me, how did you two meet?

0:03:33 > 0:03:35Well, I was in the same class as Katie's sister at school,

0:03:35 > 0:03:40so I got to know her then and she got in touch with me through social

0:03:40 > 0:03:44media and now eight years later, happily married.

0:03:44 > 0:03:46That's great. So, Katie, you made the first move.

0:03:46 > 0:03:49Yeah, it was after a couple of bottles of wine,

0:03:49 > 0:03:52a friend convinced me it was the greatest thing to do

0:03:52 > 0:03:54- and here we are. - Yeah, well, cheers to her.

0:03:54 > 0:03:57- Now, what is it you do?- I manage a pub in the City of London.

0:03:57 > 0:04:01Oh, cool. Now, Katie, I believe that you have a very rewarding job,

0:04:01 > 0:04:02so tell us about that.

0:04:02 > 0:04:05It's a bit of a mouthful. I am a palliative care clinical nurse

0:04:05 > 0:04:08specialist. I work at a hospice in Hackney, east London.

0:04:08 > 0:04:11I believe that it's not just humans that you like looking after,

0:04:11 > 0:04:13you like our furry friends, too?

0:04:13 > 0:04:18Yeah. In another life I would have a petting zoo and a tea shop.

0:04:18 > 0:04:20Mainly for me, but obviously for visitors as well.

0:04:20 > 0:04:23Badgers, rabbits, anything goes, really.

0:04:23 > 0:04:25Tell me about your tactics as the Blue team.

0:04:25 > 0:04:28I wouldn't say we've got fantastic knowledge,

0:04:28 > 0:04:31but I think Katie has got a keen eye for pretty things and she's got

0:04:31 > 0:04:34- some great bargaining skills. - Yeah, the haggling is left to me.

0:04:34 > 0:04:37OK. Well, you won't be able to do any shopping whatsoever without

0:04:37 > 0:04:40some money. So let me give you both £300.

0:04:40 > 0:04:42Holly, 300 for you.

0:04:42 > 0:04:44And, Katie, 300 for you.

0:04:44 > 0:04:47- Fantastic.- So, your experts are itching to meet you.

0:04:47 > 0:04:48Off you go and have a great time.

0:04:48 > 0:04:50- Thank you very much.- Bye!

0:04:50 > 0:04:51Well, enough of me rabbiting on.

0:04:51 > 0:04:53It's time to head to the fair.

0:04:53 > 0:04:58And giving the teams a little helping hand today are our experts.

0:04:58 > 0:05:01Hoping to buy items that will rocket away for the Reds,

0:05:01 > 0:05:03it's Caroline Hawley.

0:05:04 > 0:05:06Whilst Tim Weeks

0:05:06 > 0:05:09will be squeezing out any potential profit with the Blues.

0:05:11 > 0:05:13So, Holly, what are you looking for today?

0:05:13 > 0:05:15Well, I think I'm going to look for some silver.

0:05:15 > 0:05:17I collect vanity jars, so that's a bit of a passion.

0:05:17 > 0:05:20- Katie?- Oh, I love a box, something to keep my trinkets in,

0:05:20 > 0:05:22or a nice piece of jewellery.

0:05:22 > 0:05:24I'll be looking for something a bit eclectic.

0:05:24 > 0:05:26- Excellent.- Maybe a hip flask, something like that.

0:05:26 > 0:05:29- Something booze related. - ROOSTER CROWS

0:05:29 > 0:05:31Wake up, teams. Your 60 minutes starts now.

0:05:31 > 0:05:32Let's get to work.

0:05:32 > 0:05:34Let's go looking.

0:05:34 > 0:05:36That's an extensive shopping list, teams,

0:05:36 > 0:05:38but at least you have a plan in place

0:05:38 > 0:05:41and Tim's already spotted something right up Johnny's street.

0:05:41 > 0:05:43What about here, there's a bit of breweriana?

0:05:43 > 0:05:45- What do you think of these? - Do they sell well?

0:05:45 > 0:05:48Yeah, they will. I mean, they're not going to make huge money,

0:05:48 > 0:05:50but sometimes they can go for £30-40.

0:05:50 > 0:05:51Would you buy something like these?

0:05:51 > 0:05:53It's not taking my fancy, I must admit.

0:05:53 > 0:05:55- OK.- No, I think I'm after something a bit older.

0:05:55 > 0:05:58- Right, let's go, keep looking. - Oh, well. You tried, Tim.

0:05:58 > 0:06:00At least these two know what they like.

0:06:00 > 0:06:02What's Kabi spotted?

0:06:02 > 0:06:04Holly, here's a cute little box.

0:06:04 > 0:06:06- What about that one there? - I'm not a fan of that one.

0:06:06 > 0:06:08- I'm not either, Holly. - No, not enough interest.

0:06:08 > 0:06:10- Good, OK. Two against one. - Two against one.

0:06:10 > 0:06:12Back in your box, Kabi.

0:06:12 > 0:06:14I think you are outnumbered there.

0:06:15 > 0:06:18- Back to the Blues.- I do love animals. Anything with a duck?

0:06:18 > 0:06:21- Does that appeal? - I like them kind of alive.

0:06:21 > 0:06:23Yeah, OK. What's your favourite animal?

0:06:23 > 0:06:25- Badger or a rabbit. - Badgers and rabbits.

0:06:25 > 0:06:28- So that's what we've got to look for today?- Yeah.- Badger and rabbit. OK.

0:06:28 > 0:06:30- It's in there.- All right. - Let's make that happen.

0:06:30 > 0:06:32Badger, rabbit, noted.

0:06:34 > 0:06:36- Oh, look, Hol!- That's lovely.

0:06:36 > 0:06:38- That's what we were talking about. - That's really, really nice.

0:06:38 > 0:06:40It looks like a fairly complete set.

0:06:40 > 0:06:41- You both love it, don't you?- Yeah.

0:06:41 > 0:06:43Yeah. I'd love to find out the price on them.

0:06:43 > 0:06:45Let's see how much it is.

0:06:45 > 0:06:48We've seen the case here and we just wondered what you are asking for it.

0:06:48 > 0:06:50- £400. It is a very nice piece. - That's out of our price range.

0:06:50 > 0:06:52- Thank you.- Thanks.

0:06:52 > 0:06:53Well, that was short and sweet.

0:06:53 > 0:06:55Expensive taste, team.

0:06:55 > 0:06:58Never mind. Meanwhile, with the Blues, Johnny is reminiscing.

0:06:58 > 0:07:01This takes me back, sledging. It looks like it could still be used.

0:07:01 > 0:07:03OK. I would see this as a bit of furniture now.

0:07:03 > 0:07:05- Yeah?- But that's great that you would get it on the slopes.

0:07:05 > 0:07:08I would get this at the bottom of the kids' bed and put a display of

0:07:08 > 0:07:11the dolls or maybe the soft toys on there.

0:07:11 > 0:07:12- Multifunctional.- Exactly.

0:07:12 > 0:07:14Have a proper look. Is it in good condition?

0:07:14 > 0:07:16Is it sturdy enough? It looks sturdy.

0:07:16 > 0:07:18- It looks good, doesn't it? - Not hugely old, I guess.

0:07:18 > 0:07:19No.

0:07:19 > 0:07:22Metal runners. Grease them up. That's going to fly.

0:07:22 > 0:07:23Yeah. Absolutely.

0:07:23 > 0:07:26- I wonder how old it is?- I would have thought 1950s, 1960s.

0:07:26 > 0:07:28It's not hugely old. But I don't think it needs to be.

0:07:28 > 0:07:31- Katie, what do you think? - I'm still undecided.

0:07:31 > 0:07:33I know it caught your eye, but...

0:07:33 > 0:07:35Maybe a back-up?

0:07:35 > 0:07:37OK. Yeah. Is it worth getting the price, anyway?

0:07:37 > 0:07:39Good thinking, Tim.

0:07:39 > 0:07:40- Yeah, I guess.- Just so we know.

0:07:40 > 0:07:43- Doesn't hurt.- OK. Let's go for it. - Yeah, why not, team?

0:07:43 > 0:07:45- Off you pop.- Good morning, sir.

0:07:45 > 0:07:47- Morning, how are you?- I'm very well. My name's Katie.- Hi, Katie.

0:07:47 > 0:07:50The sleigh, how much do you think you could do it for?

0:07:50 > 0:07:52It's a bargain at 20 quid.

0:07:52 > 0:07:55- That's made me see it differently now.- Crikey, Katie.

0:07:55 > 0:07:56You've changed your tune.

0:07:56 > 0:07:58What do you think, boys?

0:07:58 > 0:07:59- It took me straightaway.- Come on.

0:07:59 > 0:08:01Let's do it.

0:08:01 > 0:08:03- £20. Thank you very much. - Let's shake the man's hand.

0:08:03 > 0:08:05- It's a pleasure.- Thanks very much.

0:08:05 > 0:08:07One down. Put it there. Let's get on it.

0:08:07 > 0:08:09Move on to the next stall.

0:08:09 > 0:08:12Ten minutes in and your first item is in the bag.

0:08:12 > 0:08:15Hopefully it won't be all downhill from here.

0:08:15 > 0:08:18Right, Reds. You're playing catch up, or are you playing croquet?

0:08:18 > 0:08:21- I quite like that. - It's a cute box, isn't it?

0:08:21 > 0:08:23- It is.- And it's quite nicely worn.

0:08:23 > 0:08:25And it's got the instruction in.

0:08:25 > 0:08:29The game of croquet was first played in France back in the 12th century.

0:08:29 > 0:08:32It was later brought to the UK in the 1300s.

0:08:32 > 0:08:35Do you know what? There's a lot of people with lawns in this country

0:08:35 > 0:08:37- and I guess it's got quite broad appeal.- I think so.

0:08:37 > 0:08:38- Shall we ask the price?- Yes, yes.

0:08:38 > 0:08:41Excuse me, can we just ask how much your croquet set is?

0:08:41 > 0:08:43- £70.- Is it complete?

0:08:43 > 0:08:46- I believe so. - What would you say to 45?

0:08:46 > 0:08:47I would say no to 45.

0:08:47 > 0:08:49Interesting.

0:08:49 > 0:08:50I thought that might be the case.

0:08:50 > 0:08:51What would be your best price?

0:08:51 > 0:08:53The real best is £50 cash.

0:08:53 > 0:08:56And you've got the instructions.

0:08:56 > 0:08:58- Which I like. - Which is nice and vintage.

0:08:58 > 0:09:02The more I think about it, I'm not sure whether we're going to make a margin on it at that price.

0:09:02 > 0:09:04It will have cost an awful lot more than that to buy.

0:09:04 > 0:09:06Yeah, because it's the proper one,

0:09:06 > 0:09:08- with this make. - How do you feel, Holly?- I love it.

0:09:08 > 0:09:10I think this should be our first buy.

0:09:10 > 0:09:13I'm sensing that. And you're happy to go with the £50?

0:09:13 > 0:09:14- Yeah, let's do it.- Majority rule.

0:09:14 > 0:09:17- Great.- Yay, well done, you! - Good man.

0:09:17 > 0:09:18Thank you very much. OK, bye.

0:09:18 > 0:09:20- Well done.- Brilliant!

0:09:20 > 0:09:22First buy done. 20 minutes in.

0:09:22 > 0:09:25- Excellent.- Loving your work, Reds.

0:09:25 > 0:09:27Very decisive.

0:09:27 > 0:09:28That's one item apiece, teams.

0:09:28 > 0:09:30Back to the Blues. What's Tim spotted?

0:09:30 > 0:09:32What do you think of this?

0:09:32 > 0:09:34- It's caught my eye. - Yeah, I really like that.

0:09:34 > 0:09:36- What do you think of this? - An umbrella stand.

0:09:36 > 0:09:38- In the form of an umbrella. - How clever.- Made of brass.

0:09:38 > 0:09:41I like that it's got compartments as well.

0:09:41 > 0:09:43That adds to it, adds to the charm and the appeal.

0:09:43 > 0:09:45I don't particularly like the look of it,

0:09:45 > 0:09:47but I'm definitely interested in its functionality.

0:09:47 > 0:09:48You see, I do like the look of it.

0:09:48 > 0:09:51I think it's both beautiful but also functional.

0:09:51 > 0:09:52How old do you think it is?

0:09:52 > 0:09:54Do you know what? I look from here and I think early 1900.

0:09:54 > 0:09:56- Really?- Brass was very popular.

0:09:56 > 0:09:58Yeah, I know. But then, as you look a little bit closer,

0:09:58 > 0:10:01- and you do a bit of investigation... - Welded back together or...?

0:10:01 > 0:10:03- It looks it, doesn't it?- Yeah.

0:10:03 > 0:10:05And there you go. Look at that.

0:10:05 > 0:10:07- OK.- Not so appealing.

0:10:07 > 0:10:10For me, it's probably been two bits separate put together,

0:10:10 > 0:10:11but don't think it matters.

0:10:11 > 0:10:13Because all three of us have got

0:10:13 > 0:10:15so attracted to it because of what it is.

0:10:15 > 0:10:17It's decorative, it's novelty, it's fun.

0:10:17 > 0:10:19That's what's going to get the hands up in the room.

0:10:19 > 0:10:21What I like about it, is the dealer has put the price on there,

0:10:21 > 0:10:23so it gives us a starting point.

0:10:23 > 0:10:25Is it worth a go? Your turn to do some negotiating, I think.

0:10:25 > 0:10:27- I best have a go. - Come on then, big man.

0:10:27 > 0:10:29- Don't let us down.- Go on, Johnny. - We'll stay here.

0:10:29 > 0:10:31I just think it's fun, isn't it?

0:10:31 > 0:10:34- Yeah, I really like it.- It's not perfect condition, but it's not bad,

0:10:34 > 0:10:36is it? Good brass. It's heavy, isn't it?

0:10:36 > 0:10:38It doesn't look it, but it's got some weight to it.

0:10:38 > 0:10:41- Have you sold anything like it before?- I have, I've sold them at

0:10:41 > 0:10:44- auction before.- OK.- I won't tell you what I think they can sell for,

0:10:44 > 0:10:47- let's see what Johnny's got for us. - Guess what? It's another £20.

0:10:47 > 0:10:48- Really?- Score.

0:10:48 > 0:10:49Two scores on the door.

0:10:49 > 0:10:51I want two as well. Get in there.

0:10:51 > 0:10:53- Are we happy with that? - Yeah, he's happy to take that.

0:10:53 > 0:10:55OK, it's done. Done.

0:10:55 > 0:10:56- Come on, let's go.- Final one.

0:10:56 > 0:10:59Well, it never rains but it pours.

0:10:59 > 0:11:01These Blues are on a buying bonanza.

0:11:01 > 0:11:03That's two items down, one to go.

0:11:03 > 0:11:05Shall we have a look at this cabinet here?

0:11:05 > 0:11:07How are we looking on the clock, Caroline?

0:11:07 > 0:11:08Can I just say, I don't want to

0:11:08 > 0:11:10- stress you out, we've got 30 minutes.- OK!

0:11:10 > 0:11:13It's a Dorothy, Wizard Of Oz moment.

0:11:13 > 0:11:14It's really slipping away.

0:11:14 > 0:11:17You're just missing those ruby slippers and a dog called Toto.

0:11:17 > 0:11:19Still, no need to panic yet.

0:11:19 > 0:11:21You're halfway through your shop.

0:11:21 > 0:11:23Now, what's the Tin Man up to?

0:11:24 > 0:11:28We're two items down, two strong buys, it feels like, doesn't it?

0:11:28 > 0:11:31- Yes.- So let's just keep our eyes peeled for anything that just

0:11:31 > 0:11:33catches our eye, takes our fancy.

0:11:33 > 0:11:35- OK.- And we'll have a look at it.

0:11:35 > 0:11:37Oh, eagle eyed Kabi is on it again.

0:11:37 > 0:11:39- I tell you what, Holly, can I grab your attention for a sec?- Yep.

0:11:39 > 0:11:41Can you have a look at this?

0:11:41 > 0:11:45Now, I think judging by the little cuff link motifs,

0:11:45 > 0:11:49- that that might be a little cuff link box.- Or a stud box.

0:11:49 > 0:11:51- Yes.- It's a stud, a collar stud.

0:11:51 > 0:11:52That is rather charming.

0:11:52 > 0:11:55- I like that.- Get my glasses out. - It's a nice gentleman's gift.

0:11:55 > 0:11:58That is... Do you know what I call gentleman's gifts?

0:11:58 > 0:12:02- Mantiques. - Oh.- That's what Holly calls me.

0:12:02 > 0:12:03Oh, does she?! A Mantique!

0:12:03 > 0:12:06- What do you think of the silver? - There's your hallmark.

0:12:06 > 0:12:07Can you see the lion passant?

0:12:07 > 0:12:09That means silver.

0:12:09 > 0:12:10- British Sterling silver.- Great.

0:12:10 > 0:12:13The anchor means that it's made in Birmingham.

0:12:13 > 0:12:15OK, great, which is good.

0:12:15 > 0:12:18And the maker's mark there, 1923.

0:12:18 > 0:12:23- I really like that.- That's really very plain and stunning.

0:12:23 > 0:12:24Also quite modern.

0:12:24 > 0:12:28Contemporary. Have you opened it and had a look inside?

0:12:28 > 0:12:31You see, gilded inside.

0:12:31 > 0:12:33- Silver gilt.- What do you think about the price?

0:12:33 > 0:12:36I know there's a little price on the base of the box.

0:12:36 > 0:12:40Well, 68, it's marked, we need to get it down a bit.

0:12:40 > 0:12:42But I think that's absolutely charming.

0:12:42 > 0:12:44I'm going to try and be a little bit confident with my negotiating,

0:12:44 > 0:12:47so let's see how we get a reaction.

0:12:47 > 0:12:50- OK, go.- Very assertive, Kabi.

0:12:50 > 0:12:52Good luck. How are the Blues getting on?

0:12:52 > 0:12:55Guys. I've found something.

0:12:55 > 0:12:58- What have you got there?- It looks like an old set of kitchen scales.

0:12:58 > 0:13:02- Oh, right.- My grandfather was a butcher's so we grew up with those

0:13:02 > 0:13:05old-fashioned scales where you'd have to put the weights on.

0:13:05 > 0:13:07You've got the marble top.

0:13:08 > 0:13:11Come and have a look at the back.

0:13:11 > 0:13:12It's nice and ornate, isn't it?

0:13:12 > 0:13:14- It doesn't excite me. - You're not convinced?

0:13:14 > 0:13:16- Not massively.- No?- No. - Let's keep looking.

0:13:16 > 0:13:19- We've got plenty of time.- Yes. - We've got plenty of money.- OK.

0:13:19 > 0:13:20Yeah.

0:13:20 > 0:13:22Ah, well, never mind, Katie.

0:13:22 > 0:13:24Right then, Kabi, what's the news?

0:13:25 > 0:13:28- Good news, guys.- Yes?

0:13:28 > 0:13:31I tried my strongest charm, which is fairly weak,

0:13:31 > 0:13:34- but she's gone for the 40. - Yes!- Brilliant.

0:13:34 > 0:13:35- Second buy.- Yes.- Well done.

0:13:35 > 0:13:37- In the bag.- Excellent.

0:13:37 > 0:13:39Well spotted, well bought.

0:13:39 > 0:13:41- Thank you.- Good work, man.

0:13:41 > 0:13:43That's two items apiece, teams.

0:13:43 > 0:13:4715 minutes left on the clock, let's get those last items in the can.

0:13:47 > 0:13:51Uh-oh, Blues, er, it seems, sledges aren't that rare around these parts.

0:13:51 > 0:13:55- Oh, no!- Oh, no, no, no!

0:13:55 > 0:13:56Ours is much nicer than that.

0:13:56 > 0:13:58- Really?- Come on, look at the condition.

0:13:58 > 0:14:00Oh, right, they're two a penny now.

0:14:00 > 0:14:02- No, not at all. - Shall we have a look?

0:14:02 > 0:14:05There will only be one in the auction room we're going to.

0:14:05 > 0:14:08- Touch wood.- Well...- I wouldn't be put off by this at all.

0:14:08 > 0:14:10It was £20. We've got to keep remembering that.

0:14:10 > 0:14:12Keep the faith, Blues.

0:14:12 > 0:14:14Meanwhile, Kabi's on the case again.

0:14:14 > 0:14:16Could this be the Reds' final foray?

0:14:16 > 0:14:19- Beautiful.- Look at that, a stationery case.

0:14:19 > 0:14:21Oh, that's lovely.

0:14:21 > 0:14:23Look at the little address book.

0:14:23 > 0:14:25I think it's even still got its address book here.

0:14:25 > 0:14:27- That's lovely.- And it's unused.

0:14:27 > 0:14:29- No friends.- No!

0:14:29 > 0:14:32- Sad, sad.- It's really sweet, isn't it?

0:14:32 > 0:14:34- Do you like that, Hol?- I do.

0:14:34 > 0:14:36You know, I love things like that.

0:14:36 > 0:14:37- Shall we?- Yes.

0:14:37 > 0:14:41- Is there a price on the bottom? - There's no price on it.

0:14:41 > 0:14:45It's been monogrammed but that adds to its charm, I think.

0:14:45 > 0:14:50I think it does. It limits it in some ways, resale,

0:14:50 > 0:14:52but it does add to its charm.

0:14:52 > 0:14:55- I love the interior, the green leather.- Yeah.

0:14:55 > 0:14:57I've got a feeling, judging by the quality of these,

0:14:57 > 0:15:00- it's going to be quite expensive. - I think it's going to be expensive.

0:15:00 > 0:15:02- Shall I go and have an ask? - Go for it.- OK, cool, all right.

0:15:02 > 0:15:05Whilst Kabi goes to find the best price,

0:15:05 > 0:15:08it seems the Blues are going with extreme seasonal buys today.

0:15:08 > 0:15:10First there was the sledge and now...

0:15:10 > 0:15:13What about this, guys?

0:15:13 > 0:15:16Wow. Oh, you do love an ice cream.

0:15:16 > 0:15:18- Look at that. - That is a big piece of kit.

0:15:18 > 0:15:20Right, I'm going to use my nose on this one.

0:15:20 > 0:15:22Can you still smell the cream?

0:15:22 > 0:15:23I can't smell much ice cream.

0:15:23 > 0:15:28- Chocolate, vanilla?- So, an original, what are we thinking, 1950s, '60s?

0:15:28 > 0:15:30- I reckon.- Ice cream freezer.

0:15:30 > 0:15:32Do you think you can still get it working?

0:15:32 > 0:15:33Well, there's a plug.

0:15:33 > 0:15:37OK. Well, in the auction house we'll definitely have to cut that.

0:15:37 > 0:15:39There's no way we can sell it without it being PAC tested.

0:15:39 > 0:15:41That will go in the auction room and be cut.

0:15:41 > 0:15:43I don't think that would put off any potential buyers.

0:15:43 > 0:15:46If you want to buy something like this, you're serious.

0:15:46 > 0:15:49- You're serious.- A novelty item? Or do you think people could get some use out of it?

0:15:49 > 0:15:52I think it's more a talking point. It turned our head in a condition like this.

0:15:52 > 0:15:54Look, it's not great, is it?

0:15:54 > 0:15:55- No, it's not.- Condition wise.

0:15:55 > 0:15:58Could you do anything really to make it much better looking?

0:15:58 > 0:16:00Yeah, you could sort that out and repaint it, of course you can.

0:16:00 > 0:16:01I think, let's go for it.

0:16:01 > 0:16:03The price is 80.

0:16:03 > 0:16:04£80, OK.

0:16:04 > 0:16:06I like it, but we've got a little bit of time left,

0:16:06 > 0:16:09maybe we could ask the dealer if he could hang onto it

0:16:09 > 0:16:11and we could see if there's anything else out there.

0:16:11 > 0:16:12Why don't I see what he wants for it?

0:16:12 > 0:16:15Sure. And see if he can hold onto it, we'll go and have a look.

0:16:15 > 0:16:17I'll go and have a chat with the dealer.

0:16:17 > 0:16:19Yes, do it. So what are your reservations?

0:16:19 > 0:16:21There's still something nagging at you?

0:16:21 > 0:16:23Just the condition. Some people might just see it as a big lump.

0:16:23 > 0:16:26It's a particular buyer, there's no doubt.

0:16:26 > 0:16:30OK, so he said the best he could do it was 75 and I got him down to 60.

0:16:30 > 0:16:33- Awesome.- Sounds good.

0:16:33 > 0:16:34Good negotiator, aren't you?

0:16:34 > 0:16:37So we know it's here, let's go and spend what, the last ten minutes?

0:16:37 > 0:16:39About that, are you comfortable?

0:16:39 > 0:16:41If we can't find anything, then we'll come back here.

0:16:41 > 0:16:43- Absolutely.- OK. - You want it, don't you?

0:16:43 > 0:16:45- Yeah.- I want it too. Come on then.

0:16:45 > 0:16:46Let's keep him happy.

0:16:46 > 0:16:48Well, Johnny seems a bit flaky,

0:16:48 > 0:16:50but Katie seems keen.

0:16:50 > 0:16:53Time to chill out, guys, and put that one on ice.

0:16:53 > 0:16:54Right, Kabi's back with a price.

0:16:54 > 0:16:56I've had a conversation.

0:16:56 > 0:16:58- Yes.- He wanted 55 for the case.

0:16:58 > 0:17:01- OK.- I went in quite cheekily at 30 which he wasn't happy about,

0:17:01 > 0:17:03but he has agreed on 35.

0:17:03 > 0:17:04Oh, what do you think?

0:17:04 > 0:17:06I think that's amazing.

0:17:06 > 0:17:07I think it's a bit of steal.

0:17:07 > 0:17:08Yeah, I think that's great.

0:17:08 > 0:17:10Well, I'm glad we're all in agreement

0:17:10 > 0:17:12because I think we've got our third item.

0:17:12 > 0:17:13- Excellent!- Well done.

0:17:13 > 0:17:15Nice work, Reds.

0:17:15 > 0:17:18All three items in the bag and with plenty of time left.

0:17:18 > 0:17:19Good going.

0:17:19 > 0:17:22The Blues, however, are looking a little lost.

0:17:22 > 0:17:23We came that way, didn't we?

0:17:23 > 0:17:25Have we done down here?

0:17:25 > 0:17:26No, not down here.

0:17:26 > 0:17:28Come on, no time to waste.

0:17:28 > 0:17:30- What have we got?- Seven minutes.

0:17:30 > 0:17:33Only seven minutes. Two minutes.

0:17:33 > 0:17:34Anything grabs us.

0:17:34 > 0:17:37That's seven minutes, teams, come on!

0:17:37 > 0:17:39A sense of urgency is what we need here.

0:17:39 > 0:17:40How do you feel about the shop?

0:17:40 > 0:17:43- Really happy. - I love all of the pieces.

0:17:43 > 0:17:44We'd buy them for ourselves,

0:17:44 > 0:17:46hopefully someone else will want them as well.

0:17:46 > 0:17:49I think it's a pretty accurate reflection of our taste level.

0:17:49 > 0:17:50I think they're amazing.

0:17:50 > 0:17:53- Let's hope they do well at auction. - They will.

0:17:53 > 0:17:56Cool, calm and confident with the Reds,

0:17:56 > 0:17:58a slightly different story over with the Blues.

0:17:58 > 0:18:00It's a minute away.

0:18:00 > 0:18:02If it's gone, I feel like we're going to buy it.

0:18:02 > 0:18:04Come on.

0:18:04 > 0:18:05Let's follow the boss.

0:18:05 > 0:18:08The ice cream freezer. Time to run. Better late than never.

0:18:08 > 0:18:10Come on, hurry up!

0:18:10 > 0:18:12I'll go and shake the dealer's hand.

0:18:14 > 0:18:17We'll hold onto it. She's still here. That's not going anywhere.

0:18:17 > 0:18:19Yeah, there may be a reason it's still there!

0:18:19 > 0:18:21We said £60.

0:18:21 > 0:18:23- Yes.- Thank you.

0:18:25 > 0:18:28Pop the kettle on, teams, your 60 minutes are up.

0:18:28 > 0:18:29It is ours.

0:18:29 > 0:18:33Hooray! That's three, put it there, put it there.

0:18:33 > 0:18:35Right, who is making the ice cream?

0:18:35 > 0:18:37- I'm buying.- Well done.

0:18:37 > 0:18:39Let's remind ourselves what the Red team bought.

0:18:39 > 0:18:43First up it was fun and games with the croquet set.

0:18:43 > 0:18:46Price paid, £50.

0:18:46 > 0:18:49Next up, the silver cufflink box set them back £40.

0:18:52 > 0:18:56And finally, the small leather case cost them £35.

0:18:58 > 0:19:02What can I say, Reds - cool, calm, collected, all done in 50 minutes,

0:19:02 > 0:19:03- how good is that?- Great.

0:19:03 > 0:19:06- Superb fun. - It was a great experience.

0:19:06 > 0:19:08Caroline, you thought these guys were going to be good

0:19:08 > 0:19:11- and they delivered.- And they were. Absolutely excellent, brilliant.

0:19:11 > 0:19:13And you chose items that you really liked as well?

0:19:13 > 0:19:16- Yeah.- We loved... All three of the items we would have bought for ourselves.

0:19:16 > 0:19:19And you didn't spend too much money, 125, is that right?

0:19:19 > 0:19:21So we were quite good.

0:19:21 > 0:19:23- Quite conservative.- Who's got 175?

0:19:23 > 0:19:25- That will be me.- Ah, Kabi, I'll take that from you.

0:19:25 > 0:19:29But not for long, it's going straight over to Caroline Hawley.

0:19:29 > 0:19:31So, Caroline, has anything caught your eye?

0:19:31 > 0:19:33One or two things, but I haven't made my mind up yet.

0:19:33 > 0:19:35Well, Caroline's still to make up her mind,

0:19:35 > 0:19:37so while she goes and finds a bonus buy,

0:19:37 > 0:19:39let's remind ourselves what the Blue team bought.

0:19:41 > 0:19:43First up, the sledge will be sliding its way to the auction

0:19:43 > 0:19:45after the team paid £20.

0:19:47 > 0:19:50Next, the umbrella stand set them back £20, too.

0:19:51 > 0:19:54And finally, will the ice cream freezer whip up a storm

0:19:54 > 0:19:56at the auction? Price paid, £60.

0:19:56 > 0:19:58Well, Katie, Johnny, well done.

0:19:58 > 0:20:01I didn't think for a second you were going to make it but you did,

0:20:01 > 0:20:04within 60 minutes, get three fun items.

0:20:04 > 0:20:06Now, Katie, which is your favourite?

0:20:06 > 0:20:08I think probably the ice cream storer.

0:20:08 > 0:20:10Do you think it's going to bring the biggest profit?

0:20:10 > 0:20:12No, probably the umbrella stand, I think.

0:20:12 > 0:20:14What about you, Johnny, do you agree?

0:20:14 > 0:20:16If the right person's in the room for that ice cream freezer,

0:20:16 > 0:20:18- it could really take off. - Is that your favourite, too?

0:20:18 > 0:20:20I think it is now. They talked me into it, for sure.

0:20:20 > 0:20:23I'm glad we've gone for it, I think we all agree on that, don't we?

0:20:23 > 0:20:26- Absolutely.- We had to really put our money on the line for it.

0:20:26 > 0:20:28You didn't have to put that much money on the line for it,

0:20:28 > 0:20:30because only £100 spent.

0:20:30 > 0:20:32Crazy for three good items.

0:20:32 > 0:20:34Yeah, I cannot believe someone has given me £300

0:20:34 > 0:20:37and I've only spent £100!

0:20:37 > 0:20:39You wouldn't believe how many people say that.

0:20:39 > 0:20:41So, who's got 200 left over?

0:20:41 > 0:20:42- We have.- Thank you very much.

0:20:42 > 0:20:45- Thank you very much. - What are you going to spend £200 on?

0:20:45 > 0:20:47Well, I think you have very good interests.

0:20:47 > 0:20:49You with the pub, you with your animals.

0:20:49 > 0:20:51I'm not going to be able to please both of you.

0:20:51 > 0:20:53I don't think I'm going to find a drunken rabbit,

0:20:53 > 0:20:56but I think I can find something that maybe edges towards you or you,

0:20:56 > 0:20:59- but one of you is going to love it, I'm sure.- That's fine.

0:20:59 > 0:21:01- Excellent.- We'll take that.

0:21:01 > 0:21:03So, while Tim goes off on his quest,

0:21:03 > 0:21:05I'm going off on a mission of my own.

0:21:08 > 0:21:11This is Biggin Hill Airport near Bromley,

0:21:11 > 0:21:13one of nine airports which serve London,

0:21:13 > 0:21:15mainly for the business and commercial market.

0:21:15 > 0:21:18However, it hasn't always been that way.

0:21:18 > 0:21:21Best known for its role during the Battle of Britain,

0:21:21 > 0:21:24it was home to the most famous fighter aircraft of all,

0:21:24 > 0:21:25the Spitfire.

0:21:25 > 0:21:28It entered RAF service in August 1938

0:21:28 > 0:21:33and its superiority against the enemy was vital in defending Britain.

0:21:33 > 0:21:37Over 20,000 of these iconic aircraft were produced.

0:21:37 > 0:21:38After restoration,

0:21:38 > 0:21:41there are now approximately 60 Spitfires flying again.

0:21:42 > 0:21:46It played a major role in securing the ultimate Allied victory

0:21:46 > 0:21:50and the Spitfire truly deserves its accolade as one of,

0:21:50 > 0:21:54if not the, most successful fighter planes ever designed.

0:21:56 > 0:21:59The Heritage Hangar is home to over 12 Spitfires.

0:21:59 > 0:22:03Most are privately owned but all have been lovingly restored

0:22:03 > 0:22:04to their former glory.

0:22:05 > 0:22:07I've joined Peter Monk to find out more

0:22:07 > 0:22:09about these incredible aircraft.

0:22:09 > 0:22:11So, Peter, tell me,

0:22:11 > 0:22:14how did the business of restoring Spitfires come round?

0:22:14 > 0:22:16It goes back several years.

0:22:16 > 0:22:19I've always had a fascination in the Second World War,

0:22:19 > 0:22:21and certainly the history of it,

0:22:21 > 0:22:24so I started collecting small parts to airframe components.

0:22:24 > 0:22:27At that point, I decided I had enough parts to actually start

0:22:27 > 0:22:28the restoration of a Spitfire.

0:22:28 > 0:22:31Now we've got 14 in various states.

0:22:31 > 0:22:34I'm looking around at rather picture perfect planes, but they don't start

0:22:34 > 0:22:37like this, so how do you go about restoring them?

0:22:37 > 0:22:39It depends on what you actually start with.

0:22:39 > 0:22:41You could start on something which just gives you

0:22:41 > 0:22:43the bare serial number of the aircraft or as much as

0:22:43 > 0:22:46a complete aeroplane that might have been in storage

0:22:46 > 0:22:48for anything up to 50 years.

0:22:48 > 0:22:51What's the biggest obstacle that you encounter, is it corrosion?

0:22:51 > 0:22:55Yes, it is, corrosion and the parts just being missing altogether.

0:22:55 > 0:22:59So we might have to find the drawings and remanufacture parts.

0:22:59 > 0:23:01Well, everyone is hard at work restoring some planes

0:23:01 > 0:23:04but I'd love to see one that's already been brought back

0:23:04 > 0:23:06to its former glory. You must have one in the hangar here?

0:23:06 > 0:23:08We have. Do you want to have a look?

0:23:08 > 0:23:10- Please, yes, I'd love to.- Let's go. - Thank you.

0:23:13 > 0:23:16This particular Spitfire was the MG 627.

0:23:18 > 0:23:23It entered service with the Canadian Air Force on September 25th 1944.

0:23:24 > 0:23:27Its pilot, Officer Sydney Bregman.

0:23:30 > 0:23:31After World War II,

0:23:31 > 0:23:34this Spitfire was eventually converted and sold

0:23:34 > 0:23:36as a two-seater trainer to the Irish Air Corps.

0:23:38 > 0:23:41The Heritage Hangar received the aircraft in 2014.

0:23:44 > 0:23:46So, this is the finished article?

0:23:46 > 0:23:48- Yes, it is.- It's really beautiful.

0:23:48 > 0:23:51Absolutely, there are only five in the country and for our purposes,

0:23:51 > 0:23:53giving experience rides in the Spitfire, it's perfect.

0:23:53 > 0:23:56That was my next question actually, is she fit to fly?

0:23:56 > 0:23:59Yes, she is, and she's ready to go today and you can go up in her.

0:23:59 > 0:24:01- What do I have to do? - Well, first of all,

0:24:01 > 0:24:03I'll introduce you to Pete who's going to take you flying.

0:24:03 > 0:24:05- Nice to meet you. - So, Pete, shall I follow you?

0:24:05 > 0:24:09- Yes, let's go.- OK.

0:24:09 > 0:24:11Whilst I get suited and booted,

0:24:11 > 0:24:14the ground team scramble and get the aircraft ready

0:24:14 > 0:24:15for me to take to the skies.

0:24:18 > 0:24:21Right, I've had my briefing, my suit's on

0:24:21 > 0:24:23and it's time to go flying.

0:24:23 > 0:24:25I actually can't believe it, I'm going in a Spitfire!

0:24:25 > 0:24:26Come on.

0:24:28 > 0:24:31It's not every day you get to go up in a Spitfire, is it?

0:24:31 > 0:24:35I absolutely love flying and this is a chance not to be missed.

0:24:35 > 0:24:39I'm a little bit nervous but more than anything, I'm really excited.

0:24:39 > 0:24:41I know that my dad will be jealous when he sees this.

0:24:41 > 0:24:44Right then, I think we're set. Chocks away!

0:24:52 > 0:24:56MUSIC: Ride of the Valkyries by Richard Wagner

0:25:03 > 0:25:06I can't quite believe that we're doing this!

0:25:06 > 0:25:09It's not easy to sit here and admire the view.

0:25:09 > 0:25:13It's much more difficult to get yourself into the mindset

0:25:13 > 0:25:16of a fighter. I can't imagine how they were able to concentrate.

0:25:16 > 0:25:21It feels as though this glass canopy is designed for viewing pleasure

0:25:21 > 0:25:24but then you start to think to yourself, of course,

0:25:24 > 0:25:28this was a viewpoint to see how many people were trying to shoot you down around you.

0:25:28 > 0:25:31Yes. What we'll do now is, we'll start heading back

0:25:31 > 0:25:33towards the airfield to land.

0:25:35 > 0:25:40Sadly, after only 20 minutes, it was time to get back on terra firma.

0:25:53 > 0:25:55- Thank you very much.- My pleasure.

0:25:55 > 0:25:58That was like nothing I've ever experienced.

0:25:58 > 0:26:01A complete once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

0:26:01 > 0:26:02And one that I recommend.

0:26:02 > 0:26:05Thank you, Pete. Now, as they say, chocks away,

0:26:05 > 0:26:08as we head to the auction.

0:26:13 > 0:26:17Well, I've flown up to Farley and here I am at Southon's Auction Rooms

0:26:17 > 0:26:19with Catherine Southon herself.

0:26:19 > 0:26:21Oh, Natasha!

0:26:21 > 0:26:23Catherine, thank you so much for having us along.

0:26:23 > 0:26:25It's an absolute pleasure.

0:26:25 > 0:26:27We're starting with the Reds with the croquet set.

0:26:27 > 0:26:29What do you think of this vintage set?

0:26:29 > 0:26:30I quite like a bit of croquet myself.

0:26:30 > 0:26:32I mean, it's a great name, it's a fantastic company.

0:26:32 > 0:26:35This company has been going for 200 years.

0:26:35 > 0:26:37They're actually based about five miles from here

0:26:37 > 0:26:40so it's a nice good, local piece, which is what we like.

0:26:40 > 0:26:42It's not in the best condition

0:26:42 > 0:26:44but you have got the original instructions, which is nice.

0:26:44 > 0:26:45OK, so how optimistic?

0:26:45 > 0:26:48I was very optimistic, I put 60 to 80.

0:26:48 > 0:26:51Well, Kabi and Holly will be chuffed because they paid 50.

0:26:51 > 0:26:52OK, yeah, not bad.

0:26:52 > 0:26:55- Sounds about right!- Then we move on to this silver stud case here.

0:26:55 > 0:26:57I think it's a sweet little case.

0:26:57 > 0:27:00You can put your cuff links in it and it's quite understated.

0:27:00 > 0:27:011920s in date.

0:27:01 > 0:27:04Do you think it's going to get your buyers salivating?

0:27:04 > 0:27:08Well, I don't know about that but they might be a little bit excited.

0:27:08 > 0:27:09I think 20 to 40.

0:27:09 > 0:27:12Fantastic. Well, they did pay the upper end of your estimate, £40,

0:27:12 > 0:27:15so they will be egging you on when you're on the rostrum.

0:27:15 > 0:27:17- I will do my best. - I'm sure you will.

0:27:17 > 0:27:20Then, their last item was this case here.

0:27:21 > 0:27:23How popular is this going to be amongst your buyers?

0:27:23 > 0:27:25People have been looking at it, Natasha.

0:27:25 > 0:27:26Really? Pawing it.

0:27:26 > 0:27:29They have been. They've been admiring it.

0:27:29 > 0:27:30It's in lovely condition.

0:27:30 > 0:27:32So, what do you reckon, estimate wise?

0:27:32 > 0:27:34A nice cosy 30 to 50.

0:27:34 > 0:27:36Fantastic, because they only paid £35.

0:27:36 > 0:27:40- Perfect.- I mean, it all sounds plain sailing judging by these estimates.

0:27:40 > 0:27:41I think we might be OK.

0:27:41 > 0:27:44Well, if it doesn't go to plan, they might need their bonus buy,

0:27:44 > 0:27:47so let's find out what Caroline bought for the Reds.

0:27:48 > 0:27:53So, Kabi, Holly, you left Caroline £175.

0:27:53 > 0:27:56I don't know what you were thinking, doing that!

0:27:56 > 0:27:58- Is that dangerous? - Very dangerous, very dangerous.

0:27:58 > 0:28:01Now, Caroline, are you itching to show us what you got?

0:28:01 > 0:28:03- I am.- Oh, wow.

0:28:03 > 0:28:04Yes, that's lovely.

0:28:04 > 0:28:06How much did you pay for it?

0:28:06 > 0:28:08Well, shall I tell you a bit about it first?

0:28:08 > 0:28:10- Yes.- Now, it's walnut.

0:28:10 > 0:28:13It's mid-19th century.

0:28:13 > 0:28:16This beautiful brass strap work here.

0:28:16 > 0:28:18It's in fabulous condition.

0:28:18 > 0:28:20Open it up, silk lined.

0:28:20 > 0:28:22A little jewellery casket.

0:28:22 > 0:28:27- Lovely.- So, after all that, I paid 35.

0:28:27 > 0:28:30- Oh, wow.- Great, yeah. - Which I think is a great price.

0:28:30 > 0:28:31I think that's really good.

0:28:31 > 0:28:33The golden question, I guess, is,

0:28:33 > 0:28:35what do you think it will make at the auction?

0:28:35 > 0:28:37Well, I think it should make between 40 and 60.

0:28:37 > 0:28:40- OK.- What is not to like about this box?

0:28:40 > 0:28:42I think it's lovely.

0:28:42 > 0:28:44- You've bought well. - Thank you, thank you.

0:28:44 > 0:28:46Well, you seem rather enthused, but remember,

0:28:46 > 0:28:48you don't need to make your mind up now.

0:28:48 > 0:28:50We'll see how you're getting on at the auction.

0:28:50 > 0:28:52Then we'll come to the bonus buy.

0:28:52 > 0:28:54So, in the meantime, let's find out what Catherine thinks

0:28:54 > 0:28:56of Caroline's casket.

0:28:57 > 0:29:02So, they may or may not need this walnut-veneered jewellery casket.

0:29:02 > 0:29:06Well, you know, these aren't the most saleable things,

0:29:06 > 0:29:09but as far as little caskets go like this, walnut veneered,

0:29:09 > 0:29:10this is a nice example.

0:29:10 > 0:29:12I like the strap work on it.

0:29:12 > 0:29:14Again, in very good condition.

0:29:14 > 0:29:15Late 19th-century.

0:29:15 > 0:29:17It's 30 to £40 all day long.

0:29:17 > 0:29:19Well, Caroline might be sighing a sigh of relief

0:29:19 > 0:29:22- because she paid £35 for it. - She's a good girl.

0:29:22 > 0:29:26- She did good.- Let's turn our attention to the Blues now,

0:29:26 > 0:29:27Johnny and Katie,

0:29:27 > 0:29:28and their first item.

0:29:28 > 0:29:29I don't see any snow

0:29:29 > 0:29:31so is it appropriate that they bought a sledge?

0:29:31 > 0:29:34Well, no. The thing is, it's all about the seasons, isn't it?

0:29:34 > 0:29:37We've got the timing completely wrong today, no snow.

0:29:37 > 0:29:39I've put 40 to 60.

0:29:39 > 0:29:41Well hopefully it proves that you've been correct

0:29:41 > 0:29:44- because they only paid £20 for it.- Oh, did they?

0:29:44 > 0:29:46They'll be all right then.

0:29:46 > 0:29:50So, we move on from the winter sports to this umbrella stand.

0:29:50 > 0:29:52I love this sort of thing.

0:29:52 > 0:29:54It's really quirky, but, Catherine,

0:29:54 > 0:29:56I think you're going to tell me you don't like it.

0:29:56 > 0:30:00Well, when I saw it from a distance, I thought, that is actually OK.

0:30:00 > 0:30:03Then I got closer and thought, it actually couldn't be any worse.

0:30:03 > 0:30:05- Who did this?- Who did this? Who made this?

0:30:05 > 0:30:08It's really poor quality, and actually if you look at

0:30:08 > 0:30:10the base of it, you can see how once upon a time,

0:30:10 > 0:30:13it was in two halves and it's just been re-soldered,

0:30:13 > 0:30:15- so it's not great, Natasha, I'm afraid.- OK.

0:30:15 > 0:30:18But your buyers have been inspecting it closely, I'm sure.

0:30:18 > 0:30:20- Oh, yes.- What are you expecting them to fork out?

0:30:20 > 0:30:22Maybe, if we're lucky, 20 to 40.

0:30:22 > 0:30:25Well, do you know, they won't be too upset about that.

0:30:25 > 0:30:27Again, £20 paid.

0:30:27 > 0:30:29- Pretty good.- Not a crazy price.

0:30:29 > 0:30:33- No.- We do move onto something pretty crazy now.

0:30:33 > 0:30:35It's our ice cream freezer, Catherine.

0:30:35 > 0:30:38OK, when I saw this, I didn't know whether to laugh or cry.

0:30:38 > 0:30:41It's great in so many ways because it reminds you of your childhood.

0:30:41 > 0:30:44You rewind back and you think about the days going to the newsagents

0:30:44 > 0:30:47and diving in the freezer to get your favourite lolly,

0:30:47 > 0:30:51but it's seen better days. It's appalling, can we say.

0:30:51 > 0:30:53What can I say, it's appalling.

0:30:53 > 0:30:56What would you do with it now? What do you do with it?

0:30:56 > 0:30:58Are you worried about this when it comes to the estimate?

0:30:58 > 0:31:00Yes, I can't tell you, I've had sleepless nights.

0:31:00 > 0:31:02Oh, really? OK, so, what have you ended up with?

0:31:02 > 0:31:06I've ended up with a generous £10-15.

0:31:06 > 0:31:10OK. Well, take your ten and times that by six.

0:31:10 > 0:31:12- Really?- That's what the team paid for it.

0:31:12 > 0:31:13- £60.- What were they thinking?

0:31:13 > 0:31:15This could be their downfall.

0:31:15 > 0:31:17Do you know what, though? I could be so wrong.

0:31:17 > 0:31:20We could have people queueing to buy this.

0:31:20 > 0:31:23Well, at £10-15, just in case you're so right,

0:31:23 > 0:31:25they might need their bonus buy,

0:31:25 > 0:31:27so let's find out what Tim bought for the Blues.

0:31:29 > 0:31:31Well, Johnny, Katie, what can we call you,

0:31:31 > 0:31:32the last of the big spenders?

0:31:32 > 0:31:34£100 is all you spent!

0:31:34 > 0:31:37- Frugal.- A paltry sum.- Very frugal.

0:31:37 > 0:31:41But it means that Tim was left with £200, so I'm interested,

0:31:41 > 0:31:43I'm sure you are, to know what's under that cloth.

0:31:43 > 0:31:45I can't wait to see it.

0:31:45 > 0:31:46Oh, yes!

0:31:46 > 0:31:49- Oh, wow.- What do you think? It's a badger.

0:31:49 > 0:31:50My favourite animal, badgers.

0:31:50 > 0:31:52Oh, my goodness.

0:31:52 > 0:31:54Have a hold of it. I think you might have mentioned

0:31:54 > 0:31:55- that you like badgers.- A few times.

0:31:55 > 0:31:57So I went running around everywhere,

0:31:57 > 0:31:59"Anything with a badger? Anything with a badger?"

0:31:59 > 0:32:00Finally, I found a badger.

0:32:00 > 0:32:03- Can we take it home? - No! We need to sell it.

0:32:03 > 0:32:05How much did you pay for it?

0:32:05 > 0:32:10Well, I've paid perhaps a little bit more than I'd want, and I paid £65.

0:32:10 > 0:32:13I would happily pay £65 for this.

0:32:13 > 0:32:14- Good.- It's very pretty.

0:32:14 > 0:32:17How much do you think it's going to fetch?

0:32:17 > 0:32:1940 to 60. I paid at the high end.

0:32:19 > 0:32:20- There's a chance. - I'm really chuffed.

0:32:20 > 0:32:23I absolutely love it. That's the main thing.

0:32:23 > 0:32:24- Look at him.- Good job.

0:32:24 > 0:32:26Oh, no, I'm looking a bit mad now, aren't I?

0:32:26 > 0:32:28No-one said that, Katie.

0:32:28 > 0:32:30But the thing is, when it comes to the auction,

0:32:30 > 0:32:32we'll see how you're getting on

0:32:32 > 0:32:35and then you can decide whether to go with your head or your heart,

0:32:35 > 0:32:38which is obviously beating quickly for that badger.

0:32:38 > 0:32:41So, in the meantime, we'll leave Katie to enjoy the badger

0:32:41 > 0:32:44and we'll find out what Catherine thinks of the Royal Crown Derby.

0:32:45 > 0:32:47Right, Catherine, how do you feel about badgers?

0:32:47 > 0:32:49I know some view them as a pest

0:32:49 > 0:32:53but do you think this is a very sweet little badger?

0:32:53 > 0:32:54It is quite sweet.

0:32:54 > 0:32:58I mean, it's a very classic pattern, the Old Imari pattern,

0:32:58 > 0:32:59the Royal Crown Derby.

0:32:59 > 0:33:01Heavily embellished in this gilt decoration.

0:33:01 > 0:33:05It is collectable, so, yeah, it's got a chance.

0:33:05 > 0:33:06What do you reckon people will pay?

0:33:06 > 0:33:09£40-60 is my guide price.

0:33:09 > 0:33:1240 to 60, well, you'll have to work your magic

0:33:12 > 0:33:14- because Tim paid £65 for it. - It might.

0:33:14 > 0:33:17OK, you know your mark, so hopefully you'll reach it.

0:33:17 > 0:33:20- I'll try.- Are you looking forward to the sale today?

0:33:20 > 0:33:22I'm so excited, I really am,

0:33:22 > 0:33:24and I'm going to work really hard on everything.

0:33:24 > 0:33:27- I will really try. - OK, Catherine, do your best.

0:33:29 > 0:33:30£40, seated.

0:33:34 > 0:33:35So, here we are, auction time.

0:33:35 > 0:33:37- How are you feeling?- Excited.

0:33:37 > 0:33:39- Nervous.- All the emotions?

0:33:39 > 0:33:42- All at once.- It's Holly's first time in an auction.

0:33:42 > 0:33:44Oh, my goodness.

0:33:44 > 0:33:47I've watched so many on telly but actually to be live at one...

0:33:47 > 0:33:50If you're ready, for the first time ever, here comes the croquet set.

0:33:50 > 0:33:53This is the vintage Jaques croquet set in a wooden box.

0:33:53 > 0:33:56Now this has its original instructions with it

0:33:56 > 0:33:58and all its bits and bobs

0:33:58 > 0:34:00and I already have £60 bid.
