:07:42. > :07:43.'That is a wonder strike!'

:07:43. > :07:45.Many children dream about being a footballer.

:07:45. > :07:49.'And he scores!'

:07:49. > :07:51.And nine-year-old Michael is no exception.

:07:51. > :07:55.I like football because it gives us time to get fitter.

:07:55. > :07:59.Good, like, um, to see how you are now and then get better.

:07:59. > :08:01.Carry on and carry on and get better and better.

:08:01. > :08:05.But Michael and his friends struggle- to find a safe place to play.

:08:05. > :08:08.Suitable places are hard to find

:08:08. > :08:11.and playing in the street brings its own problems.

:08:11. > :08:13.The people, like, are worried about their cars,

:08:13. > :08:15.if they get smashed or something.

:08:15. > :08:16.We normally hit people's cars but we don't mean it.

:08:16. > :08:19.So they end up coming out and shouting at us.

:08:19. > :08:21.But help was on hand.

:08:21. > :08:23.Once a week, a local charity arrives

:08:23. > :08:26.and makes it their mission to give these kids something special -

:08:26. > :08:28.a safe space to play

:08:28. > :08:33.and the chanceto turn their dreams into reality.

:08:33. > :08:35.Kids In The Street is a mobile sports facility

:08:35. > :08:38.and it goes around the Greater Craigmillar area in Edinburgh.

:08:38. > :08:42.Um, we set up in various locations around the community.

:08:42. > :08:43.We are a totally free service.

:08:43. > :08:47.We get out there and offer the opportunity for young folk

:08:47. > :08:49.to come along and try out sports that they might not be able

:08:49. > :08:54.to access either through money or transport problems.

:08:54. > :08:55.In less than an hour,

:08:55. > :08:58.Kids In The Street turn a car park into a football pitch.

:08:58. > :09:03.And a no-go area for children has become a place to play.

:09:03. > :09:06.MICHAEL: Kev sets up like the barriers and the goals.

:09:06. > :09:10.It's an opportunity to get like better games with your pals.

:09:10. > :09:13.And, like, get fit.

:09:13. > :09:15.Funded by Children In Need,

:09:15. > :09:17.the project is making a real difference

:09:17. > :09:21.by bringing footballto the heart of the local community.

:09:21. > :09:25.Its benefits are felt by everyone. And, most importantly,

:09:25. > :09:30.it's providing kids with a safe place to have fun.

:09:30. > :09:31.I just think the kids nowadays,

:09:31. > :09:36.it's a lot about sitting and playing games and that in the house.

:09:36. > :09:38.So I think it's important for them to get out

:09:38. > :09:40.and have some healthy activities,

:09:40. > :09:42.get their hearts beating a wee bit faster.

:09:42. > :09:47.But, crucially, this is about giving kids a safe place to play.

:09:47. > :09:50.Apart from Kids In The Street, there isn't anything near

:09:50. > :09:52.that the kids can go and be watched- safely, I don't think.

:09:52. > :09:55.I like Kids In The Street because I get to play with my friends.

:09:55. > :09:58.What I like about Kids is that you get an opportunity

:09:58. > :10:02.to play football and dinnae get in trouble by people.

:10:02. > :10:04.# We'll never be afraid again... #

:10:05. > :10:07.The project lets children like Michael do what all kids
