:05:26. > :05:31.APPLAUSE I am joined by some of our fantastic

:05:32. > :05:35.fund-raisers and I mean fantastic, this is Lauren, here, with a

:05:36. > :05:40.beautiful smile, can I tell them a bit about you. Not so long ago she

:05:41. > :05:45.was knocked down bay car, she was very seriously ill, you were in

:05:46. > :05:50.intensive care, you had to be taught to walk and talk again. And you know

:05:51. > :05:55.what this young lady spent her time doing? Raising money for Children In

:05:56. > :06:02.Need. Aren't you amazing? Yes, you are. What have you been doing?

:06:03. > :06:06.Creating Christmas cards to... To raise money. To raise money for

:06:07. > :06:09.Children In Need. But you have been through so much, why haven't you put

:06:10. > :06:16.your feet up and thought, well, let other people do it? Because, because

:06:17. > :06:20.I have wanted to give something back. Can I get a hug? You are

:06:21. > :06:27.amazing. Thank you. APPLAUSE.

:06:28. > :06:33.Now... To the lovely ladies now, who have been having a ball at Green

:06:34. > :06:37.Field Park Care Centre, you have been having a ball how? We raised

:06:38. > :06:50.some money by having a big Tea Party and dressing up. We had a Hallowe'en

:06:51. > :06:56.party, we got Pudsey, so our total is ?94.94. Thank you to the

:06:57. > :07:02.residents. Bethany; this is Bethany. Can you explain the amazing feat you

:07:03. > :07:06.did? I shaved my hair off for Children In Need.

:07:07. > :07:14.CHEERING AND APPLAUSE. You may well be astonished. How long

:07:15. > :07:19.was it? It was an Afro so it was out to here. There are lots of ways of

:07:20. > :07:24.raising money, that was brave Andras tick, why did do you that? There is

:07:25. > :07:27.loads of children that are more or less fortunate than me and I thought

:07:28. > :07:33.it was time to give something back to the children. Can I have another

:07:34. > :07:38.hug? What did I say? Thank you, thank you to everyone here in the

:07:39. > :07:42.studio. And to you at home, for all the work that you do, all year

:07:43. > :07:48.round, your donations really do change lives. Here is Newsround

:07:49. > :07:52.reporter Martin on Children In Need and the Ladybird Development Group

:07:53. > :07:57.who are making a difference to a special young boy. Some children

:07:58. > :08:02.have a difficult start and need help to support them. I want to introduce

:08:03. > :08:06.you to a brilliant wee boy called Archie who lives with his mum Miriam

:08:07. > :08:12.in Lossiemouth on the North East coast.

:08:13. > :08:17.Archie is a ball of energy, he is always on the go. He has two speeds,

:08:18. > :08:29.on or off and there is nothing in between. He is great fun as well.

:08:30. > :08:33.Oh. It is hard work drinking juice. Archie was diagnosed with a rare

:08:34. > :08:40.genetic disorder affecting his jaw and giving him a cleft palate, and

:08:41. > :08:44.with other problems has lifelong implication on his ability to

:08:45. > :08:48.communicate Hearing your child has something that may affect them for

:08:49. > :08:51.the rest of their life, it is the worst news that any parent could

:08:52. > :08:55.have. The doctors don't have a crystal ball. They can't say this is

:08:56. > :09:00.how his life will be, when he is two, four, ten, they just don't

:09:01. > :09:05.know. Archie sleeps with a mask at night

:09:06. > :09:12.as his airway is prone to collapsing. It meant he could only

:09:13. > :09:17.have his cleft palate operated on a year ago. Up until that time, he

:09:18. > :09:21.could not speak at all. The surgeon has said that when she

:09:22. > :09:26.repaired the cleft palate the structures in his mouth were very

:09:27. > :09:29.feet, so there is a chance he will struggle to speak, even though he

:09:30. > :09:35.has had his ears and cleft palate fixed. There is no guarantee he will

:09:36. > :09:42.be able to speak clearly, as we would expect. When you have a child,

:09:43. > :09:46.who has medical needs, or special needs, it can be isolating. You are

:09:47. > :09:50.not only coming to terms with being a parent, but you are coming to

:09:51. > :09:58.terms with how to provide the best that you can for this child. That is

:09:59. > :10:05.hard. Mum has learned basic sign language

:10:06. > :10:08.to teach Archie but Archie struggles to be understood by other children

:10:09. > :10:12.and adults. He need more support than a

:10:13. > :10:17.mainstream nursery would likely be able to provide. That was good. Do

:10:18. > :10:21.it again. Ten months ago, Archie's mum found

:10:22. > :10:26.out about the Ladybird Development Group, a Children In Need funded

:10:27. > :10:29.specialist nursery, for kids with additional needs.

:10:30. > :10:33.At the centre children get one-on-one care from highly trained

:10:34. > :10:37.staff who work intensively with preschool-children with the ambition

:10:38. > :10:41.to prepare them for mainstream education, where ever possible. What

:10:42. > :10:48.day it is today? Today it is Wednesday.

:10:49. > :10:53.Archie has five sessions a week at the centre, working on his speech

:10:54. > :10:57.and language. You want your child to have opportunities to do the best

:10:58. > :11:03.they can do, and to be happy, I think that is what any parent wants.

:11:04. > :11:06.Archie has come on in leaps and bounds since he got here through his

:11:07. > :11:10.play and his interaction with the staff and the other children.

:11:11. > :11:15.He is a completely different child to when he came. So now, hopefully,

:11:16. > :11:19.he will be able to move on, and feel comfort -- confident to go into

:11:20. > :11:26.mainstream nursery. When somewhere like this group comes along, you are

:11:27. > :11:33.not alone. There are other people who get it.

:11:34. > :11:37.There are the people who care about your child, and can help you to kind

:11:38. > :11:44.of find your way through things, through the different specialists

:11:45. > :11:46.you will meet, and even just different services that are

:11:47. > :11:52.available to you, that you don't know about, because you have never

:11:53. > :11:56.done it before. I think Ladybird has opened up a New

:11:57. > :12:03.World of opportunities for Archie and for me. It is really just, it is

:12:04. > :12:04.kind of giving us a community, somewhere where people understand,

:12:05. > :12:39.you know, what we are going through. Children In Need's vision is every

:12:40. > :12:42.child in the UK has a safe, happy, and secure childhood and the chance

:12:43. > :12:46.to reach their potential. And people give up their time to help raise

:12:47. > :12:52.money to make this possible, and they try to have fun along the way.

:12:53. > :12:56.So Edinburgh based chef Tom Kitchin, a host of Scottish celebrities plus

:12:57. > :13:04.some very generous and brave diners set out to do just that. How did

:13:05. > :13:08.they get on? Let's find out. These well-known faces agreed to

:13:09. > :13:11.take on a tough challenge. Cooking atom kitchen's restaurant in an

:13:12. > :13:17.attempt to raise money for Children In Need.

:13:18. > :13:22.Come on Des! After a lightning speed demonstration they will attempt to

:13:23. > :13:27.cook and serve food to Tom's high standards.

:13:28. > :13:33.Our celebrities have been divided into two team, in the Red team,

:13:34. > :13:37.cooking mussels and roe deer we have Katrina Shearer and Kirsty Wark and

:13:38. > :13:43.their waiter is Des Clarke. In the Blue team, cooking risotto

:13:44. > :13:52.and halibut Susan Calman and James more on the are in the kitchen with

:13:53. > :13:55.Sanjeev Kohli front of house. The winners will be the team that

:13:56. > :14:01.secures the most votes for one of their dishes. Enter some discerning

:14:02. > :14:08.diners. With an added twist, as well as having voting powers to decide

:14:09. > :14:11.the winner, that -- the diners will also decide how much to donate to

:14:12. > :14:17.Children In Need based on the standard of cooking. You're not on

:14:18. > :14:24.Newsnight now. Time to get some orders in. Should I go for the

:14:25. > :14:44.halibut? Yes. I have no hidden agenda. Now speaking. Two risottos,

:14:45. > :14:55.two mussels. Now it is Chef's turn to feel the heat. For halibut is.

:14:56. > :15:00.Two risottos. I don't envy them. There are 50 dishes to be cooked in

:15:01. > :15:13.total. Crispy ox tongue. Not deep-fried. Tom is not taking any

:15:14. > :15:19.prisoners. You have to go faster. They are ready for their main

:15:20. > :15:24.course. Come on, guys. I have nothing to say but I'm going to

:15:25. > :15:32.shout. Anything for attention. We will start address on Susan's

:15:33. > :15:45.command. Start address. Very enthusiastic. You need to be more

:15:46. > :15:49.controlled. This is serious. You have to take it out and say it was

:15:50. > :15:58.yours. This is not acceptable. Newsreader. Table two, nothing to do

:15:59. > :16:02.with me. My restaurant... It looks pretty hot in that kitchen. We will

:16:03. > :16:05.find out which team won the challenge of bit later on. Now let

:16:06. > :16:09.me introduce you to a very special group of young people. They have

:16:10. > :16:13.come from schools right across the borders to join forces and perform

:16:14. > :16:18.at Scottish Children In Need in the choir. With help from our

:16:19. > :16:20.choirmaster there are put through their paces, rehearsing, training

:16:21. > :16:28.and learning hard and putting in extra effort after school and at the

:16:29. > :16:35.weekend. Let's take a look at why Children In Need means so much to

:16:36. > :16:50.them. Today, 123 children have come here to rehearse with the

:16:51. > :16:59.choirmaster. They are coming from 17 schools all across the borders. I

:17:00. > :17:02.can guess that is a bigger choir than ever before. They are so

:17:03. > :17:05.incredibly dedicated. They have been in school all week, working really

:17:06. > :17:10.hard with their own teachers and music teachers and then they come

:17:11. > :17:12.here at the weekend and they give us absolute energy, complete

:17:13. > :17:20.dedication. It is really wonderful to see. 1000 voices shouting love

:17:21. > :17:22.and light and hope. We will get louder and then it will be a

:17:23. > :17:37.crescendo. THEY SING. All these children are fantastic

:17:38. > :17:40.fundraisers for Children In Need, and singing in the choir is just one

:17:41. > :17:45.of the things they are involved in this year. 16-year-old Joel has been

:17:46. > :17:48.volunteering for a Borders -based charity funded with your donations

:17:49. > :17:54.which provides essential support for young people. I'm really enjoying

:17:55. > :17:58.the choir because I know it is helping raise money for charities

:17:59. > :18:00.like these, and without the money that Children In Need are bringing

:18:01. > :18:15.in, then charities like this one cannot operate.

:18:16. > :18:20.It is important to raise money because some kids are not as lucky

:18:21. > :18:25.as us and have less resources and have had quite a bad childhood.

:18:26. > :18:30.Rachel is making the most of the short break in the rehearsal to

:18:31. > :18:36.raise even more money. I have got Pudsey Bear biscuits. You can donate

:18:37. > :18:45.however much you have. Terribly over 5p. -- Professor

:18:46. > :18:54.the school had a bake sales and we raised ?249. It is good raising

:18:55. > :18:58.money. Sometimes you just wonder about all those other people who

:18:59. > :19:04.don't get as much as you, and then if you raise money for then it makes

:19:05. > :19:13.you feel good. Last night, they sang as part of the spectacular UK wide

:19:14. > :19:16.singalong, so let's enjoy the moment when 2000 children came together to

:19:17. > :19:36.perform Gary Barlow's fantastic Sing. So hear a thousand voices

:19:37. > :19:46.shouting love. There's a place, there's a time in this life when you

:19:47. > :19:50.sing what you are feeling. Find your feet, stand your ground, don't you

:19:51. > :20:00.see right now the world is listening to what we say? Sing it louder, sing

:20:01. > :20:12.it clearer, knowing everyone will hear you. Make some noise, find your

:20:13. > :20:17.voice tonight. Sing it stronger, sing together, make this moment last

:20:18. > :20:25.forever. Old and young shouting love tonight.

:20:26. > :20:34.To sing we've had a lifetime to wait. And see a thousand faces

:20:35. > :20:48.celebrate. You brought hope, you brought life,

:20:49. > :20:59.conquer fear, no it wasn't always easy. Stood your ground, kept your

:21:00. > :21:11.faith, don't you see right now the world is listening to what we say?

:21:12. > :21:20.Sing it louder, sing it clearer, knowing everyone will hear you. Make

:21:21. > :21:26.some noise, find your voice tonight. Sing it stronger, sing together,

:21:27. > :21:35.make this moment last forever. Old and young shouting love tonight.

:21:36. > :21:43.Some words they can't be spoken only sung.

:21:44. > :22:20.To hear a thousand voices shouting love and life and hope.

:22:21. > :22:43.Just sing. Just sing. Just sing. Just sing.

:22:44. > :22:55.Sing it louder, sing it clearer, knowing everyone will hear you. Make

:22:56. > :23:01.some noise, find your voice tonight. Sing it stronger, sing together,

:23:02. > :23:10.make this moment last forever. Old and young shouting love tonight.

:23:11. > :23:21.Hear a thousand voices shouting love.

:23:22. > :23:41.That was marvellous. Come through. That was truly marvellous. Come

:23:42. > :23:46.here, Findlay. How are you bearing up? You sound fantastic. I have a

:23:47. > :23:50.release or throat at the moment and I feel that force but I somehow

:23:51. > :23:57.managed to put up with it. -- a bit hoarse. You are a super trooper in

:23:58. > :24:04.my book. Conserve your voice, you will be fine. How are you're

:24:05. > :24:12.enjoying your entry into showbiz? I love the dance moves. At one point,

:24:13. > :24:17.Charlie did a thing and we called it Charlieography. Shall we bring on

:24:18. > :24:29.the boss? Come on down, Andrew. They sound fantastic but I'm going

:24:30. > :24:32.to give the viewers a little insight into your technique. What is the

:24:33. > :24:42.thing you're doing in rehearsals to them focus? Do it for us. We will do

:24:43. > :24:49.a live demo. Get it all out of the way, and then focus. That is great.

:24:50. > :24:54.That will be used in classrooms up and down. They sound wonderful. They

:24:55. > :24:58.have been brilliant, and then for the last three weekends they have

:24:59. > :25:03.joined us. We worked them really hard, they focus has been fantastic,

:25:04. > :25:07.we have reaped the rewards of that. Don't you think? The good news is we

:25:08. > :25:20.will be back later for another performance. Won't we? Yes! Andrew,

:25:21. > :25:21.rate job, thank you. -- great job. To donate ?10 to

:25:22. > :25:42.rate job, thank you. -- great job. To donate Children In Need, text...

:25:43. > :25:47.Later in the programme the choir will be joined by members of the

:25:48. > :25:55.cast of Waterloo Road, and they will sing Emile Sande's Wonder. Still to

:25:56. > :25:58.come, Susan Boyle will be raising the roof and we will find out which

:25:59. > :26:08.of our celebrity teams has produced the dish of the day. Plus we have up

:26:09. > :26:13.Scottish singer Nina Nesbitt. We will also be telling the story of a

:26:14. > :26:16.young life that has been transformed. And if you missed any

:26:17. > :26:20.of the entertainment from last night, don't worry, it is just a

:26:21. > :26:24.click away on the iPlayer. Or you can stay here because right now we

:26:25. > :26:29.have the Children In Need Strictly special. Saturday night would not be

:26:30. > :26:35.complete without some glitz and glamour. When Torvill to contravene

:26:36. > :29:51.on the dance floor they could only been one winner. -- took on Dean.

:29:52. > :30:05.APPLAUSE My Children In Need champions are...

:30:06. > :30:13.Chris and Aliona. Congratulations, one vote for you.

:30:14. > :30:22.Now then Bruno, who is your Children In Need champion? My Children In

:30:23. > :30:28.Need champions are Jayne and James. One each. It is neck and neck. That

:30:29. > :30:32.means Len, as head judge you now have the deciding vote, so do you

:30:33. > :30:37.think should be crowned the winner? It is very difficult, because it's

:30:38. > :30:43.picking the first among equal, if I was to watch it again I am sure my

:30:44. > :30:49.decision could be opposite, but my champions are Jayne and James.

:30:50. > :30:57.APPLAUSE. Well done.

:30:58. > :31:01.We can't tell you enough that donating to Children In Need makes a

:31:02. > :31:05.huge difference to people's lives. Here is Emeli Sande with a story

:31:06. > :31:09.that highlights an issue every family hopes they would never have

:31:10. > :31:14.to face. I would like to introduce you to a young Scottish boy Sam and

:31:15. > :31:23.his family. He has severe autism. Last year his family breached

:31:24. > :31:28.breaking -- reached breaking point. Sam's very loveable, when he smiles

:31:29. > :31:34.it lights the room up. He is on the lower half of the autistic spectrum

:31:35. > :31:38.so no speech, limited understanding. You have to speak in very short

:31:39. > :31:42.sentences when you speak to him, so that he just grasps the main points

:31:43. > :31:49.of the sentence. You can't use too many words when you speak to him. It

:31:50. > :31:54.just gets too overwhelming for him. He has different noises for

:31:55. > :32:02.different thing, so he has happy noise, sad noise. 18 months ago his

:32:03. > :32:05.behaviour became very distressing, he started banging his head some

:32:06. > :32:10.times to the extent of needing hospital care. It was really severe

:32:11. > :32:15.injuries he was giving himself. He would bang his head on the floor,

:32:16. > :32:20.the wall, concrete paving slabs. Mirror, where ever he saw hard

:32:21. > :32:25.surface, he would walk up and just crack his head off it. Are you

:32:26. > :32:30.hungry? Sam was trying to bang his head up to 300 times a day and often

:32:31. > :32:35.succeeding A protective helmet didn't help as he would pull it

:32:36. > :32:39.aside. It was a desperate situation. We thought he would kill himself in

:32:40. > :32:43.the end with it. After six months of Sam hurting

:32:44. > :32:47.himself his mum and dad were at breaking point.

:32:48. > :32:51.We felt that we couldn't cope with Sam any longer, and that the safest

:32:52. > :32:56.place for him would be residential care where he would have one-to-one

:32:57. > :33:00.care. The decision is just heartbreaking, as parents you know,

:33:01. > :33:03.you feel that you have, you have failed.

:33:04. > :33:08.Facing the reality of breaking the family up, Sam's mum and dad had one

:33:09. > :33:13.last hope. They were able to secure Sam a place at saint Crispin's

:33:14. > :33:16.afterschool club, supported by Children In Need. Sam started to

:33:17. > :33:19.going to two hours of the afterschool club four days a week.

:33:20. > :33:22.It provides him and other children with additional needs, the

:33:23. > :33:27.opportunity to have fun in a calm but controlled environment. With one

:33:28. > :33:32.two one attention the project workers the children know and trust.

:33:33. > :33:38.Within a couple of weeks, we realised that he was just a happier

:33:39. > :33:43.boy. Since he started at club he has so much more confident. He is

:33:44. > :33:48.happier when he meets new people. He likes the attention. He enjoys

:33:49. > :33:52.trying out new activities, so it was nice seeing how much his confidence

:33:53. > :33:58.has grown. Sam going to afterschool club has been a godsend for him. He

:33:59. > :34:03.has happen yes, he mixes with us -- he is happier, he mixes us with,

:34:04. > :34:06.prior he didn't, he wanted to be on his own. The club has made the

:34:07. > :34:12.difference between Sam living with his family and being in residential

:34:13. > :34:17.care. Sam has huge challenges in his life. As parents, our priority has

:34:18. > :34:23.always been that he is happy. To see him happy and fulfilled there, you

:34:24. > :34:27.can't describe it. It is a lovely feeling. He is happy again.

:34:28. > :34:51.Please donate: Isn't it wonderful they found a way

:34:52. > :34:56.to stay together? You know, it shows you the power of Children In Need. I

:34:57. > :35:01.am joined by some people who make it all possible. Some move more of our

:35:02. > :35:05.fabulous fund-raisers including these people from Belmont House

:35:06. > :35:11.School. Run us through what you have been doing Today we had a superhero

:35:12. > :35:15.day so the pupils came dressed as a superhero, then we had a talent

:35:16. > :35:25.show. We had a bake sale and we had soap the prefects today. So lots to

:35:26. > :35:29.do and you raised? A total of ?1504. APPLAUSE.

:35:30. > :35:33.You may think that there is only one Children In Need show, I have to

:35:34. > :35:38.tell you I think we have some competition. Who do we have here? We

:35:39. > :35:42.have, oh, Fern, and who do we have here, that is frightening. Put it

:35:43. > :35:51.away. Put it away! That is much better. Where are you from? I am

:35:52. > :35:55.from St Nicholas Primary School. You have been doing your own Children In

:35:56. > :36:07.Need show, how much did you manage to raise? We managed to raise

:36:08. > :36:15.?673.08. With your Children In Need show.

:36:16. > :36:17.Now, this high school are regular fund-raisers for Children In Need.

:36:18. > :36:21.Is that correct Yes it is a big thing, we want to give back and

:36:22. > :36:24.every year we try and make the most money we can for Children In Need,

:36:25. > :36:28.doing loads of different thing, bake sale, leg waxing, dancing,

:36:29. > :36:34.everything we can. I love how you point to him all the time. He did

:36:35. > :36:40.the dancing, the leg waxing, the baking, did you beat last year? Last

:36:41. > :36:46.year's total was the highest, it was ?1400 but we managed to beat it with

:36:47. > :36:49.?1700. APPLAUSE

:36:50. > :36:51.A big round of applause, well done do you.

:36:52. > :36:56.Now have we got a treat for you. It is time for a performance from one

:36:57. > :37:02.of Scotland's biggest stars. She is a huge supporter of Children In

:37:03. > :37:05.Need, so with the students of the Royal Conservatoire Choi, please

:37:06. > :37:14.welcome Susan Boyle. -- Choir.

:37:15. > :37:27.# When I am down # And oh my soul so weary

:37:28. > :37:38.# When troubles come and my heart burden be

:37:39. > :37:44.# Then I am here in the silence # Until you come and sit awhile with

:37:45. > :37:51.me. # You raise me up

:37:52. > :38:01.# So I can stand on mountains # You raise me up

:38:02. > :38:08.# To walk on stone -- stormy seas # I am strong when I am on your

:38:09. > :38:17.shoulders # You raise me up to more that I can

:38:31. > :38:38.# Each precious heart # So imperfectly

:38:39. > :38:46.# But when you come and I am filled with wonder

:39:07. > :39:10.shoulders # You raise me up to more than I can

:39:11. > :39:28.be. You raise me up so I can stand on

:39:54. > :39:59.be. # You raise me until I can stand on

:40:39. > :41:00.be #. CHEERING AND APPLAUSE

:41:01. > :41:03.what a sound, Susan.ing my sent. That was wonderful -- magnificent.

:41:04. > :41:07.Thank you for giving up your time to join us tonight. I know you are a

:41:08. > :41:12.huge supporter, can I ask what it means to you? It is a real on nor to

:41:13. > :41:16.be performing in front of so many young people for such a good cause.

:41:17. > :41:22.We are indebted to you, thank you once again, thanks to Susan and the

:41:23. > :41:28.students choir. Let's hear it P .

:41:29. > :41:37.APPLAUSE ? Over the last 20 years Children In

:41:38. > :41:42.Need has funded more than 4,500 projects across Scotland. And that

:41:43. > :41:47.is all down to you, as boney Tyler has been telling us you are all

:41:48. > :41:51.hero, more of you get involved in fundraising, but for some people it

:41:52. > :41:55.has become a tradition, they live and breathe Children In Need

:41:56. > :41:58.dedicating time and effort into organising evens and inspiring

:41:59. > :42:05.people to donate. Here is the story of one such hero. This year as with

:42:06. > :42:08.any other, this academy is jumping with fundraising activities for

:42:09. > :42:12.Children In Need. And the driving force behind all the action is

:42:13. > :42:17.Deputy Head Teacher Eleanor MacLaine, you could say a woman

:42:18. > :42:21.obsessed. I think about Children In Need all the year round. I think

:42:22. > :42:25.about it 365 days a year, it is the heart of what I am thinking about

:42:26. > :42:31.and I am planning and plotting, what will we do next year. I am

:42:32. > :42:36.passionate about the the bear. The bear is always there for me. Me

:42:37. > :42:41.motivation for Children In Need is making a difference.

:42:42. > :42:50.With Eleanor at the helm, over the last 17 years the academy has raised

:42:51. > :42:53.over ?123,000. The secret to raising a lot of money in my opinion is to

:42:54. > :42:58.give people something for their Monday. So if you give me 50 pence,

:42:59. > :43:05.you may get half an hour's entertainment. You may get a nice

:43:06. > :43:12.healthy dance class, you maybe try to beat my goalie. We have raised

:43:13. > :43:24.over ?123,000, and that is 50 pence, in this school our slogan is pennies

:43:25. > :43:29.make pounds. Eleanor is retiring but she makes sure she has created a

:43:30. > :43:34.lasting legacy of fundraisers at the school. I'm doing a sponsored

:43:35. > :43:40.silences. I have been given special permission to speak to you but for

:43:41. > :43:44.the rest of the day I am not allowed to speak. I love raising money for

:43:45. > :43:50.Children In Need for the children out there that really need the

:43:51. > :43:57.money. I am wearing orange because it is good to do something for a

:43:58. > :44:00.good cause. Last year we raised ?10,000 for Children In Need and I

:44:01. > :44:06.think we can raise more than last year. Be even have former pupils

:44:07. > :44:10.coming back to help. I left a long time ago but it was always Mrs

:44:11. > :44:15.Maclean who did everything. If it was not for her they would not have

:44:16. > :44:20.raised anywhere near the money. It is very rewarding to be involved.

:44:21. > :44:28.When ICI pupils engaged and motivated, desperate to make a

:44:29. > :44:36.contribution, that is good. -- when I see my pupils. Amazing. Eleanor

:44:37. > :44:41.and some of her students are joining us. What an amazing job you have

:44:42. > :44:51.done. Inspiring young people. Can you tell us how much you have raised

:44:52. > :44:56.over the years? Over ?133,000. Yasmin, you have something to say.

:44:57. > :45:04.On behalf of everyone at Loudoun Academy with like to thank you for

:45:05. > :45:10.inspiring us and we will be with you when you retire. We have a little

:45:11. > :45:12.gift for you. You do the honours. Eleanor, let's hear it once again

:45:13. > :45:45.for Eleanor. Fantastic. Time for something very special. It

:45:46. > :45:54.is one of the catchiest songs around. It is Ylvis. This is a

:45:55. > :46:07.performance of the viral hit what does the Fox say. Dog goes woof, cat

:46:08. > :46:13.goes meow. Bird goes tweet, and mouse goes squeak. Cow goes moo.

:46:14. > :46:23.Frog goes croak, and the elephant goes toot. Ducks say quack and fish

:46:24. > :46:32.go blub, and the seal goes OW OW OW. But there's one sound that no one

:46:33. > :46:33.knows. What does the fox say? Ring-ding-ding-ding-dingeringeding!

:46:34. > :46:33.Gering-ding-ding-ding-dingeringedin- g!

:46:34. > :46:47.Gering-ding-ding-ding-dingeringedin- g! What the fox say? What the fox

:46:48. > :46:57.Hatee-hatee-hatee-ho! Hatee-hatee-hatee-ho! What the fox

:46:58. > :46:58.say? Joff-tchoff-tchoff-tchoffo-tchoffo--

:46:59. > :46:58.tchoff! Joff-tchoff-tchoff-tchoffo-tchoffo--

:46:59. > :47:05.tchoff! Joff-tchoff-tchoff-tchoffo-tchoffo--

:47:06. > :47:09.tchoff! What the fox say? Big blue eyes, pointy nose, chasing mice, and

:47:10. > :47:16.digging holes. Tiny paws, up the hill, suddenly you're standing

:47:17. > :47:27.still. Your fur is red, so beautiful, like an angel in

:47:28. > :47:29.disguise. But if you meet a friendly horse, will you communicate by

:47:30. > :47:39.mo-o-o-o-orse, mo-o-o-o-orse, mo-o-o-o-orse? How will you speak to

:47:40. > :47:49.that h-o-o-orse, h-o-o-orse, h-o-o-orse? What does the fox say?

:47:50. > :47:53.Jacha-chacha-chacha-chow! Jacha-chacha-chacha-chow!

:47:54. > :48:01.Fraka-kaka-kaka-kaka-kow! Fraka-kaka-kaka-kaka-kow! What the

:48:02. > :48:12.fox say? A-hee-ahee ha-hee! A-hee-ahee ha-hee! A-hee-ahee

:48:13. > :48:23.ha-hee! What the fox say? Ooooh. What the fox say? The secret of the

:48:24. > :48:30.fox, ancient mystery. Somewhere deep in the woods, I know you're hiding.

:48:31. > :48:42.What is your sound? Will we ever know? Will it always be a mystery,

:48:43. > :48:54.what do you say? You're my guardian angel hiding in

:48:55. > :49:05.the woods. What is your sound? Will we ever know? I want to, I want

:49:06. > :49:34.to, I want to know! Earlier in the show, we brought you

:49:35. > :49:39.the first part of the Children In Need cooking challenge. Six

:49:40. > :49:44.celebrities were sent to work in Tom Kitchin's kitchen. The challenge was

:49:45. > :49:51.to set about cooking up a storm and raise money. It is time to find out

:49:52. > :49:56.how they got on as we serve up the finale of the Children In Need

:49:57. > :49:59.cook-off. It is the red team versus the blue team, battling it out to

:50:00. > :50:08.get the most votes to win the dish of the day prize. What do the diners

:50:09. > :50:17.think? Superb. Absolutely fabulous. Not to drive. Moisture. That is

:50:18. > :50:22.lucky because the diners are deciding how much to donate based on

:50:23. > :50:26.the standard of cooking. Feedback so far has been good and I haven't

:50:27. > :50:36.dropped anything yet. Table two are gagging for it. Very high

:50:37. > :50:43.standards. But Tom's new chefs are pushing him to the edge. Red team,

:50:44. > :50:48.is this finished? Yes. For such clever individuals you have memories

:50:49. > :50:55.like slaves. What is wrong with that? It was green and it was wild.

:50:56. > :51:00.Competing to win the vote for the best dish is not necessarily

:51:01. > :51:10.bringing out the best in everyone. I cannot see. Hurry up. With the

:51:11. > :51:16.diners vote imminent, some more of their feedback is coming into the

:51:17. > :51:23.kitchen. Table one complaint that one of the dishes did not have

:51:24. > :51:35.sagely. Table three love the food but they did enquire as to what that

:51:36. > :51:40.might be. She said it might a toe. It is time to reveal which meal won

:51:41. > :51:43.the vote. The red team's deer or at the blue team's halibut. Today's

:51:44. > :52:10.winning dish is the halibut. That was incredible. Let's welcome

:52:11. > :52:18.one of the team members, the fabulous Des Clark.

:52:19. > :52:26.That looked like stress. Full of they took it seriously. This is a

:52:27. > :52:31.Michelin-starred restaurant, you have Tom saying he wants high

:52:32. > :52:36.standards, I arrived late, I got five minutes, in broken French. I

:52:37. > :52:40.did not have a clue. Trying to take orders, and then I have got Kirsty

:52:41. > :52:46.Wark barking at the saying we had better win. At least if the comedy

:52:47. > :52:50.career does not work out you have something to fall back on. I

:52:51. > :52:53.definitely had. It was all for a great cause. Do you know how much

:52:54. > :53:10.you raised? ?4000. Wow! Thank you. Thank you to Tom kitchen for his

:53:11. > :53:11.amazing staff, and the diners and the celebrities. Let's hear it again

:53:12. > :53:23.for Des Clarke. You can do your bit for Children In

:53:24. > :53:29.Need. To give ?10 just text. Up next is very talented young singer who

:53:30. > :53:45.wanted to donate her time to Children In Need. With the Fleetwood

:53:46. > :53:52.Mac classic, it is Nina Nesbitt. If you wake up and don't want to smile.

:53:53. > :53:55.If it takes just a little while. Open your eyes and look at the day.

:53:56. > :54:03.You'll see things in a different way. Don't stop thinking about

:54:04. > :54:21.tomorrow. Don't stop It'll soon be here. It'll be better than before.

:54:22. > :54:27.Yesterday's gone. Yesterday's gone. Why not think about times to come.

:54:28. > :54:31.And not about the the things that you've done. If your life was bad to

:54:32. > :54:44.you. Just think what tomorrow will do. Don't you look back.

:54:45. > :54:55.Don't stop thinking about tomorrow. Don't stop. It'll soon be here.

:54:56. > :55:22.Yesterday's gone. Yesterday's gone. After All I want is to see you

:55:23. > :55:27.smile. If it takes just a little while. I know you don't believe that

:55:28. > :55:37.it's true. I never meant any harm to you. Don't stop thinking about

:55:38. > :55:40.tomorrow. Don't stop. It'll soon be here. It'll be better than before

:55:41. > :55:56..Yesterday's gone Yesterday's gone. Don't you look back. Don't you look

:55:57. > :56:04.back. Don't you look back. Don't you look back. Don't you look back.

:56:05. > :56:11.Don't you look back. Don't you look back. Don't you look back.

:56:12. > :56:34.Another fundraiser we have to mention is 19-year-old Martin from

:56:35. > :56:40.Paisley, he was part of the one Show's Rickshaw Challenge. He took

:56:41. > :56:43.on the gruelling challenge to cycle 700 miles starting out in Northern

:56:44. > :56:54.Ireland, passing through Scotland and ending up in London. The raised

:56:55. > :57:01.over ?1.3 million. What an amazing achievement. Well done.

:57:02. > :57:11.I am joined by Pete from Parkour. You are funded by Children In Need.

:57:12. > :57:15.Tell me a bit about what you do. We got funded by Children In Need to

:57:16. > :57:22.buy this equipment and facilitate this type of training. We are also

:57:23. > :57:26.doing a fundraiser back home. So you are funded by Children In Need but

:57:27. > :57:32.also fundraising for Children In Need. Definitely. Anything we can do

:57:33. > :57:42.for Children In Need. We are very impressed by what you do. Thank you

:57:43. > :57:53.very much. This is the guides from Clarkston in Glasgow. They have been

:57:54. > :57:56.doing something called a Flashmob. The music starts and we start

:57:57. > :58:03.panting to a routine in the city centre. It was in town. -- start and

:58:04. > :58:21.sing. How do people react? They are surprised. Did they react very

:58:22. > :58:28.generously? We raised ?985. Where are you from? We are from a nursery

:58:29. > :58:34.group. We have 32 nurseries. It is for children. They are troublesome.

:58:35. > :58:41.We have moments. We have done messy days, charity football matches, we

:58:42. > :58:45.have had lots of fun together. The children had lots to do. If the

:58:46. > :58:55.audience cannot see it, please tell us how much you raised. ?10,633. We

:58:56. > :58:59.are almost at the end of the show but we want to bring you one more

:59:00. > :59:03.film that makes it clear why your donations are so important.

:59:04. > :59:06.Some children have to live with the challenges of difficult conditions

:59:07. > :59:10.every day of their lives. Our final film tonight follows Christopher,

:59:11. > :59:14.who was born with spina bifida. The money you donated to Children In

:59:15. > :59:18.Need has helped him in so many way, not least to overcome the feelings

:59:19. > :59:24.of being left out that he sometimes has. Here is Christopher to explain.

:59:25. > :59:29.I my name the Christopher, I live in Glasgow and I am eight-year-old. My

:59:30. > :59:35.legs don't work, so when I am at home, I shuffle about, just on my

:59:36. > :59:43.bottom on the ground. Ready? Set. Go. I always beat my daddy at the

:59:44. > :59:51.racing. If I see him cheat he's going down, down, down. Christopher

:59:52. > :59:56.keeps his family on their toes. We like wrestling. Christopher has

:59:57. > :59:59.spina bifida, it means he has a fault in his spinal column that has

:00:00. > :00:05.caused damage to his nervous system. Christopher has one of the most

:00:06. > :00:11.severe forms, he is paralysed from his waist down. Timing you. I use my

:00:12. > :00:15.hands to push along instead of using a wheelchair.

:00:16. > :00:21.Yay. Well done. 20 seconds. A winner! Christopher has hydro

:00:22. > :00:27.dehusband which means fluid can collect on his brain. I have a shunt

:00:28. > :00:33.in the side of my head. It moves the fluid away from his brain, if it

:00:34. > :00:40.block, it can be life-threatening. If it doesn't work properly, it will

:00:41. > :00:44.make me unwell. A big cuddle. He is the only child at his school who

:00:45. > :00:51.uses a wheelchair. They all have feet, they legs work but mine don't.

:00:52. > :00:54.He has lots of friends but playtimes can be difficult and make

:00:55. > :01:00.Christopher feel alone. Sometimes I don't have anyone to

:01:01. > :01:06.play with. People play games that I can't play. It is maybe not a game

:01:07. > :01:11.for wheelchairs. There is a place where Christopher

:01:12. > :01:16.always has friends to play with. Somewhere where his disabilities

:01:17. > :01:20.don't ever let him feel left out. Children In Need has been funding

:01:21. > :01:23.the spina bifida association which runs monthly groups across Scotland,

:01:24. > :01:29.where children and their families can get together, to help stop them

:01:30. > :01:35.feeling isolated. When I am at the club I am happy.

:01:36. > :01:43.It is so much fun having your friends to play with, and new people

:01:44. > :01:47.to meet that I've never met before. Christopher is welcoming to new

:01:48. > :01:52.people, it is great to have him here, his puts everybody at ease and

:01:53. > :01:57.encourages them to have a good time. Without your donations, groups like

:01:58. > :02:00.these wouldn't be able to don't give children like Christopher the chance

:02:01. > :02:06.to forget about their disabilities and simply have fun. Watch out,

:02:07. > :02:10.somebody coming through. If the spina bifida club isn't there, I

:02:11. > :02:20.would be annoyed. I would miss people might want to play with me. I

:02:21. > :02:24.love it here. And we thank Christopher for sharing

:02:25. > :02:28.his story with us. It goes to show with the right help and support you

:02:29. > :02:32.can overcome all sorts of challenges, in fact Christopher is

:02:33. > :02:36.here in the audience tonight. So let us give him a great big cheer.

:02:37. > :02:48.CHEERING AND APPLAUSE I do believe he is blushing! If you

:02:49. > :02:52.want to help make a difference to the lives of children and young

:02:53. > :03:15.people in the UK, then this is what you do.

:03:16. > :03:22.There is just time for one final performance, and we return to our

:03:23. > :03:25.fabulous Children In Need Scotland Choir, this time they will be

:03:26. > :03:33.singing with members of the cast of Waterloo Road, no less, on screen we

:03:34. > :03:37.gnome as Imogen, Rhiannon and Barry Barry, but in real life they are

:03:38. > :03:43.Kirstie, Rebecca, Joe and Carl. Give them a big round of applause.

:03:44. > :03:47.CHEERING AND APPLAUSE The fans love us here. Kirstie?

:03:48. > :03:50.Everyone has their own reason for taking part in Children In Need,

:03:51. > :03:58.what is yours? I think this is such a great charity and it is great this

:03:59. > :04:02.is the, they are able to raise awareness and when children raise

:04:03. > :04:07.money. Thank you. You have had how many rehearsals with the choir? We

:04:08. > :04:10.rehearsed once, which was last Sunday but it was incredible and the

:04:11. > :04:15.choir are amazing. They sound incredible. They are old timers,

:04:16. > :04:19.look at them. Have they been giving you help? Absolutely, these guys can

:04:20. > :04:24.groove, so they have been helping us with the dance moves. The dance

:04:25. > :04:30.move, I am looking forward to that. I have heard you sing before. I am

:04:31. > :04:34.looking for something special. We all are. We are not that good. We

:04:35. > :04:39.have never done this before, I promise you, we are looking forward

:04:40. > :04:41.to it. I wish you all the best of luck. Get yourselves ready for your

:04:42. > :04:48.big moment. APPLAUSE

:04:49. > :04:52.Just before these guys sing for us, remember, you can catch last night's

:04:53. > :04:56.Children In Need entertainment on the BBC iPlayer and to find out more

:04:57. > :04:59.about the fantastic work that Children In Need does go to the

:05:00. > :05:04.website. We would like to say a special thank

:05:05. > :05:08.you to every one of our fund-raisers across Scotland, and to all of you

:05:09. > :05:11.at home who have given so generously. Every penny you have

:05:12. > :05:16.raised and donated goes towards helping children and young people in

:05:17. > :05:26.real need. Right here in the UK. If you haven't donated, remember, you

:05:27. > :05:30.still can. It is so easy and we will be so grateful. It is time for our

:05:31. > :05:34.final performance, it is the Children In Need Scotland Choir,

:05:35. > :05:40.together with the members of the cast of Waterloo Road. And their

:05:41. > :05:58.wonderful rendition of the Emily Zane song Wonder.

:05:59. > :06:07.# I can beat the night # I'm not afraid of thund ebb

:06:08. > :06:22.# I am full of light # I am full of wonder

:06:23. > :06:32.# Oh, oh, oh I ain't falling under # Oh, oh, oh we are full of wonder

:06:33. > :06:43.# Though our feet might ache # The world's upon our shoulders

:06:44. > :06:52.# No way we're gonna break # Because we are full of wonder

:06:53. > :07:05.# Whoa, oh, I ain't falling under # Oh, oh, we are full of wonder.

:07:06. > :07:07.# This light is contagious, go tell your neighbours

:07:08. > :07:11.# Reach out and pass it on # This light is contagious,

:07:12. > :07:18.# Go, go tell your neighbours # Just reach out and pass it on

:07:19. > :07:23.# This light is contagious, go, go tell your neighbours

:07:44. > :07:48.# Just try to singalong # This is a message
