:43:37. > :43:38.Well, well, well! You both definitely
:43:39. > :43:41.melted the ice tonight! Jayne...I thought
:43:42. > :43:45.you were a nice girl. Christopher, you had the muscular
:43:46. > :44:01.vitality of Gene Kelly Darcey, my darling. I can't actually
:44:02. > :44:07.believe you're on this dancefloor. We are so fortunate
:44:08. > :44:10.to have such star professionals. I just so enjoyed your strength

:44:16. > :44:17.that you give it. And, Christopher, all the way
:44:18. > :44:23.through you didn't fade once. So, it was one tiny mistake,
:44:24. > :44:25.I didn't care one bit, because you followed it through
:44:26. > :44:29.like a true professional, Wow, Brucie. Stellar performances
:44:30. > :44:39.from both our stars! Marvellous! Thank you very much
:44:40. > :44:41.to Jayne and Christopher. If you'd like to take your place

:44:44. > :44:49.there is no voting tonight, but Jayne and Christopher
:44:50. > :44:51.really want you to help them raise as much money as possible
:44:52. > :44:54.for Children in Need. Don't forget, every penny is spent

:45:37. > :45:47.Yes, it's neck and neck. That means, Len, as head judge,
:45:48. > :45:52.you now have the deciding vote. So, who do you think

:46:28. > :46:31.I'm really thrilled. But I have to say,
:46:32. > :46:33.I want to share it with Chris. Yeah, but did you ever think
:46:34. > :46:35.you would ever It doesn't feel like we did,
:46:36. > :46:41.but I guess we did. And I won! And you said

:47:55. > :48:03.Christopher Dean! CHEERING
:48:04. > :48:09.lovely to see you. Good to see you. Wow! How amazing were they both?
:48:10. > :48:13.CHEERING They were brilliant, the pair of
:48:14. > :48:18.you. You were victorious, Jayne, hold it high. You were quite happy
:48:19. > :48:24.about that, but you weren't bad, Christopher. I tried. How long did
:48:25. > :48:31.it take to prepare for that dance? Five days. What was it like working
:48:32. > :48:38.with James Jordan and Aliona? Brilliant. I have to say thank you
:48:39. > :48:42.for both of them for their patience. It is the first time James Jordan
:48:43. > :48:49.has won anything with you. Well done, James.
:48:50. > :48:55.CHEERING Let me touch that trophy. It's a beauty Terry. Why did you
:48:56. > :48:59.take part centre She forced me. I can see who wears trousers. She was
:49:00. > :49:04.desperate to get on the dancefloor and we had the most amazing time.
:49:05. > :49:09.Thank you. It was for Children in Need. That's why we really did it,
:49:10. > :49:11.so thank you. A huge thanks to both of you, Jayne Torvill and
:49:12. > :49:19.Christopher Dean. CHEERING
:49:20. > :49:24.Time now to say a heartfelt thank you.
:49:25. > :49:47.Up and down the country, the lovely staff and customers of Boots
:49:48. > :49:51.customers' faces ready to BEAR all...
:49:52. > :49:52.In Children in Need's BearFaced fundraising campaign,
:49:53. > :49:54.in which women nationwide ditch their make-up for the day.
:49:55. > :49:58.If that wasn't enough, these staff members in Manchester
:49:59. > :50:00.got jiggy with it by shaking their stuff zumba-style.
:50:01. > :50:02.As well as shaking Pudsey's buckets, of course.
:50:03. > :50:06.So, from everyone at BBC Children in Need,
:50:07. > :50:08.we just want to say a massive thank you
:50:09. > :50:10.to all the fabulous customers and staff of Boots, because...
:50:11. > :50:26.Thank you! Ladies and gentlemen, is anybody ready to find out how much
:50:27. > :50:40.they've raised? A total, if we can. Oh wow!
:50:41. > :50:45.CHEERING AND APPLAUSE A nice round figure. Great stuff
:50:46. > :50:49.that. Thank you very much and we'll put that towards our grand total.
:50:50. > :50:54.Terry? Now, there's been an extraordinary
:50:55. > :51:00.event in London this week, Children in Need Rocks concert masterminded
:51:01. > :51:03.by our Take That heart-throb, me! No. Let's look back at last night's
:51:04. > :51:41.fun and frolics. # Could this be the magic at last. #
:51:42. > :51:48.CHEERING AND APPLAUSE An awesome night and Gary's been a
:51:49. > :51:53.very busy man, with the Children in Need Rocks concert, and the dinner
:51:54. > :51:59.and he even turned on the Blackpool illuminations. I did that one year.
:52:00. > :52:04.Did you? I did, I followed Red Rum, but I didn't do anything nasty on
:52:05. > :52:12.the promenade. Let's find out how much Gary's raised with his
:52:13. > :52:23.fund-raising efforts this week. CHEERING
:52:24. > :52:31.How about that for a total! Sterling work, Gary. You truly are a Knight
:52:32. > :52:34.of the Pudsey realm. Gary's been on a Children in Need project visit.
:52:35. > :52:36.This is why he felt so compelled to support Children in Need again this
:52:37. > :52:42.year. Zoe's Place in Coventry
:52:43. > :52:45.is one of 15 children's hospices around the UK that is supported
:52:46. > :52:48.by Children In Need. They care for very young children
:52:49. > :52:51.with life-limiting conditions. I like these shoes. My little
:52:52. > :53:01.four-year-old would like these. Jamie comes here and get to mix
:53:02. > :53:03.with the other children. You can bring her here
:53:04. > :53:08.and not worry about her? Absolutely.
:53:09. > :53:13.It is a very special place. His main condition
:53:14. > :53:21.is cerebral palsy. It is nice to come here
:53:22. > :53:24.and know he will be safe and well looked after and they care
:53:25. > :53:27.for him as much as we do. What we would do without them,
:53:28. > :53:30.I don't know. As you can see,
:53:31. > :53:32.he's a bit of a charmer, especially with blonde ladies.
:53:33. > :53:41.Is that right? Great! He says, "I am Gary Barlow".
:53:42. > :53:46.LAUGHTER He was nine weeks old when they
:53:47. > :53:55.discovered he had no immune system. He had to live in hospital
:53:56. > :53:59.for nearly two years. For him, all those years
:54:00. > :54:03.without meeting other children, and it gives our family
:54:04. > :54:13.a chance to be a family. How much does a place like this
:54:14. > :54:30.need? The majority of it
:54:31. > :54:32.is purely through donations. Without that funding, the families
:54:33. > :54:34.would have nowhere to go. How often is it open?
:54:35. > :54:38.At the moment, four days a week. The idea of somewhere like this
:54:39. > :54:51.closing cannot happen. It can't. I've got to be honest, I was not
:54:52. > :54:56.looking forward to today that much. It conjures up ideas
:54:57. > :55:03.of it being a place with no hope. I have actually experienced
:55:04. > :55:07.the total opposite. I think the children
:55:08. > :55:09.we have met are inspirational. Their parents are fighters,
:55:10. > :55:14.people getting on with life. I look at somewhere like this
:55:15. > :55:21.and I am shocked, in a way, to find out how heavily
:55:22. > :55:25.they rely on donations. It is up to us, to you out there,
:55:26. > :55:31.to be as generous as you can. When you see these faces,
:55:32. > :55:55.it makes it real, it really does. CHEERING
:55:56. > :56:00.Thank you Gary. Children's hospices massively rely on donations. Please,
:56:01. > :56:06.help us to support them. Call 03457 33 22 33.
:56:07. > :56:13.Now as a tribute to our Children in Need hero Gary Barlow, 1,624
:56:14. > :56:17.children all around the UK are about to perform his song. They've been
:56:18. > :56:21.rehearsing for weeks. They are all heroes. All over the country.
:56:22. > :56:27.They've also asked that you phone in to donate what you can whilst they
:56:28. > :56:29.are singing, so please welcome the Children in Need Choir.
:56:30. > :56:43.CHEERING # Some words, they can't be
:56:44. > :56:56.spoken, only sung # To hear a thousand voices
:56:57. > :57:06.shouting love # Don't you see right now the world
:57:07. > :57:30.is listening to what we say? # Sing it louder, sing it clearer
:57:31. > :57:37.# Knowing everyone will hear you # Make some noise
:57:38. > :57:42.find your voice tonight # Old and young shouting love
:57:43. > :57:54.tonight # To sing we've had a lifetime
:57:55. > :58:02.to wait # You brought hope,
:58:03. > :58:23.you brought life, conquer fear # Don't you see right now the world
:58:24. > :58:41.is listening to what we say? # Sing it louder, sing it clearer
:58:42. > :58:48.# Knowing everyone will hear you # Make some noise
:58:49. > :58:54.find your voice tonight # Sing it stronger, sing together
:58:55. > :59:01.# Make this moment last forever # Old and young shouting love
:59:02. > :59:06.tonight # Some words, they can't be
:59:07. > :59:16.spoken, only sung # To hear a thousand voices shouting
:59:17. > :59:57.love and life and hope # Sing it louder, sing it clearer
:59:58. > :00:23.# Knowing everyone will hear you # Make some noise
:00:24. > :00:29.find your voice tonight # Sing it stronger, sing together
:00:30. > :00:35.# Make this moment last forever # Old and young shouting love
:00:36. > :00:43.tonight # Hear a thousand voices shouting
:00:44. > :01:10.love. # Absolutely gorgeous! Wasn't that
:01:11. > :01:16.stunning, Terry? Wow! Well done, you guys. Well done to all from Belfast,
:01:17. > :01:22.to Hexham, Glasgow, to Wales - you are all heroes. Spectacular. Really
:01:23. > :01:27.moving. Terrific. All those children have selflessly given up their time,
:01:28. > :01:32.given us their talent to help other children. If you haven't already
:01:33. > :01:35.donated, please do. Ladies and gentlemen, please show your
:01:36. > :01:40.appreciation for the Children In Need Choir and Gary Barlow.
:01:41. > :01:56.Terry, you know when you appeared on Room 101 as a guest? Remind us, what
:01:57. > :02:05.pet hates did you put in there again? Well, health fads, TV speak,
:02:06. > :02:11.other TV personalities. Food packaging. And interviews with
:02:12. > :02:16.exhausted losers. Oh, right. How do you feel after the poor person had
:02:17. > :02:21.come sixth in the race? That was the tip of the iceberg. Get it off your
:02:22. > :02:25.chest! Frank Skinner asked the same question to three children in a very
:02:26. > :03:04.special Children In Need edition of Room 101. This is fun.
:03:05. > :03:06.I'm Frank Skinner and welcome to a very special kids edition
:03:07. > :03:08.seven-year-old Alesandro from High Wycombe,
:03:09. > :03:13.ten-year-old Gruff from Llanelli and eight-year-old Tess from Preston.
:03:14. > :03:16.I like playing, with my mum, ten... I mean, badminton. Yeah.
:03:17. > :03:17.Badminton's quite high up, isn't it? Yeah.
:03:18. > :03:21.Is that what it says when you stand by the wall, it just says,
:03:22. > :03:27.What's your special skill? My eyebrow.
:03:28. > :03:39.What about you? What do you like? I like swimming.
:03:40. > :03:43.I'm the fastest in Wales in my age. Wow!
:03:44. > :03:45.But only my age, and there's not much people in Wales.
:03:46. > :03:47.And what do you like, Tess? I like burp-jitsu.
:03:48. > :04:02.I think we're going to start the show,
:04:03. > :04:09.Toothbrushing. What don't you like about it?
:04:10. > :04:16.So, you clean your teeth every morning and every night. Yes.
:04:17. > :04:24.Two minutes. I think that's very long.
:04:25. > :04:31.You'll never be able to work for the council.
:04:32. > :04:39.So, Gruff, what would he like to put in Room 101?
:04:40. > :04:42.Girls who don't want to go out with me.
:04:43. > :04:47.Have you actually asked out any girls? No, I've been too scared.
:04:48. > :04:51.You're the fastest swimmer for your age in Wales
:04:52. > :04:54.and you're frightened to ask a girl out.
:04:55. > :04:58.I know. What's the worst thing that could happen?
:04:59. > :05:00.She'll tell all her friends and they'll all make fun of me.
:05:01. > :05:04.And then all the boys will find out, probably,
:05:05. > :05:06.and then they'll probably make fun of him.
:05:07. > :05:13.Do you have a-a-a technique in mind?
:05:14. > :05:21.Get your coat, darling, it's your lucky night.
:05:22. > :05:29.but he completely forgot that we were going out after one day.
:05:30. > :05:40.So, what does Tess want to put in Room 101?
:05:41. > :05:47.Now, what is cool? Can you tell me? I don't know.
:05:48. > :05:54.That's helped a lot, Tess(!) Thank you very much.
:05:55. > :05:57.So, what do they do, your parents, when they're trying to be cool?
:05:58. > :06:10.It's just a bit that they're too old to do it.
:06:11. > :06:24.You know what? You're not going to win.
:06:25. > :06:28.OK. So, we've now come to the end and I have to do a quick decision.
:06:29. > :06:30.I think, toothbrushing, I know it can be a bit boring.
:06:31. > :06:35.But you don't want to end up like me with horrible yellow teeth.
:06:36. > :06:37.And I feel a bit sorry for your parents
:06:38. > :06:38.cos I think they're trying their best.
:06:39. > :06:40.I know parents can be a bit embarrassing
:06:41. > :06:45.But I had a hard, hard time wanting to ask out girls
:06:46. > :06:49.and then everyone laughing and all that,
:06:50. > :06:51.so I am going to put girls who don't want to go out with Gruff
:06:52. > :07:03.And that brings us to the end of this show.
:07:04. > :07:06.Thanks very much to Alesandro, to Gruff and to Tess,
:07:07. > :07:09.who are all here in aid of Children in Need.
:07:10. > :07:11.Don't forget, you can lend your support
:07:12. > :07:14.to the thousands of children in the UK who need your help by calling...
:07:15. > :07:17...and donating as much or as little as you can.
:07:18. > :07:42.Our particular thanks to Gruff, Tess, Alesandro and Frank Skinner.
:07:43. > :07:45.Gruff, I feel your pain! When I was a lad, girls never wanted to go out
:07:46. > :07:51.with me, either. AUDIENCE: Ahhh! It is not true.
:07:52. > :07:57.Tess! Now, later on BBC Two, there will be the surreal sight of One
:07:58. > :08:01.Direction's Harry, Liam, Nile, Zayn and Louie propping up the bar in the
:08:02. > :08:05.Queen Vic especially for Children In Need. Before the boys get stuck into

:11:03. > :11:41.I think it went yeah, yeah, yeah Wonderful. Good to see you. Wow.
:11:42. > :11:50.First time you have performed that song here on U K-Tel vision. -- on
:11:51. > :11:53.UK telly. You always come back and make time for Children In Need. Why
:11:54. > :11:59.is it so important for you, guys? Just, you know, we grew up watching
:12:00. > :12:02.it as well. It is something that if you grow up watching something that
:12:03. > :12:09.is so important, we love getting involved. Yes. Good to have you all
:12:10. > :12:17.here. Thanks for having us. You will remember me when I was a much
:12:18. > :12:24.younger man! I remember when you had brown hair! Liam, look at me when
:12:25. > :12:30.I'm talking to you. I would like you to introduce the next film. We are
:12:31. > :12:33.so proud to be part of Children In Need. You will see what we are
:12:34. > :12:37.talking about when we meet this next young lady. It is important to hear
:12:38. > :12:44.her story. She is amazing. This is Josefina.
:12:45. > :12:49.I like this picture. That was in school. That was before the
:12:50. > :12:56.accident. I don't really remember much of my accident. It was like a
:12:57. > :13:00.blank page. Everything changed. Two years ago, Josefina was in a house
:13:01. > :13:04.fire with her dad and three sisters. All four girls were rescued, but
:13:05. > :13:08.they lost their father. Her sister suffered minor injuries but Josefina
:13:09. > :13:13.was in a critical condition and was in a coma for four months. Her
:13:14. > :13:17.mother had died the year before, so her older sister was by her bedside
:13:18. > :13:24.when she woke up. The thing that scared me the most was, like, I
:13:25. > :13:29.don't know where I was. I see my sister crying. I didn't know what
:13:30. > :13:35.she was crying about. She was like, "OK, dad died in a fire." Then she
:13:36. > :13:38.was like, "It is OK, you will be fine. Everything will stay normal.
:13:39. > :13:44.I'm here. It will be just fine." That was when I realised that I
:13:45. > :13:49.ain't got legs and my arm. Josefina suffered 60% burns all over her
:13:50. > :13:53.body, her lower legs, right forearm and fingers on her left hand were
:13:54. > :13:57.amputated. I thought I lost everything. How could I walk without
:13:58. > :14:04.any legs? Look at me, without a wheelchair, I can't move! Josefina
:14:05. > :14:09.spent 18 months in hospital. After being given prosthetic limbs, she
:14:10. > :14:19.began rehabilitation. To walk again, that was, like, that was the biggest
:14:20. > :14:23.challenge I had. Sometimes, I don't feel very well, or I'm not very
:14:24. > :14:31.happy. When you have no-one to turn to, you have to be strong. Two years
:14:32. > :14:35.after the fire, Josefina joined a sports camp with a difference. Here,
:14:36. > :14:38.children and young people of all abilities can play and compete in
:14:39. > :14:43.sports together. Sometimes, doing things they never thought possible.
:14:44. > :14:47.They welcome you with open arms. It is not just a camp, it is where you
:14:48. > :14:50.can be yourself, like no-one will judge you for that. They make you
:14:51. > :14:55.feel safe, they make you feel like a part of the family. The coaches, the
:14:56. > :15:01.children, we love her. From what she's come from, and what she is
:15:02. > :15:04.now, it is just incredible. I learned that even surrounded by
:15:05. > :15:08.people who have able bodies, I can still be me. They can still treat me
:15:09. > :15:13.as a normal girl, or as a normal teenager. So it is pretty cool. The
:15:14. > :15:17.amount of energy she brings to the camp is incredible. I think she is
:15:18. > :15:31.amazing. She's an inspiration to everyone. Good, good. Excellent. One
:15:32. > :15:36.more. I want to become a parent, that's the thing I want to become
:15:37. > :15:41.now. I want to prove to people that even if something bad happens to
:15:42. > :15:46.you, you can always turn it around to be a good thing. You can make
:15:47. > :15:49.anything you want of your life. No-one can hold you back. If you
:15:50. > :16:03.don't believe in yourself, who will believe in you? Like, I guess I know
:16:04. > :16:07.my future is bright and clear for me and I'm going to make it. Tonight,
:16:08. > :16:14.you too can be a hero and change lives. Please call 03457 33 22 33.
:16:15. > :16:21.Thank you. Josefina, you are brilliant and we
:16:22. > :16:25.salute you. We look forward to cheering you on at the Paralympics.
:16:26. > :16:29.Boys, tell everyone why they should get involved. It's stories like
:16:30. > :16:33.Josefina that inspire everybody. She is incredible. Please, everyone, do
:16:34. > :16:35.get behind the fantastic work being done by Children In Need in
:16:36. > :16:43.supporting brilliant people like Josefina. Please, please, please
:16:44. > :16:49.call 03457 33 22 33. Before I get mistaken for the sixth member, easy
:16:50. > :16:53.enough mistake to make... No chance of that! I would like to thank you
:16:54. > :17:01.and we will see you down the pub later. See you there. See you there.
:17:02. > :17:07.One Direction, everybody! Thank you. CHEERING AND APPLAUSE
:17:08. > :21:25.Let's find out what people have been doing where you are.
:21:26. > :21:34.CHEERING AND APPLAUSE don't forget, every penny is spent

:23:32. > :23:39.luck. And my name runs all the way through it! Ahh, thanks, Terry(!)
:23:40. > :23:45.Give my regards to Darcey. I will. Thank you. And my phone number! I
:23:46. > :23:51.will quickstep in Darcey's direction any time. Charmer. Ladies and
:23:52. > :23:54.gentlemen, we will miss her. Keep up the good word. Tess Daly. Thank you
:23:55. > :24:12.very much. Good night. So, you are saying, "Oh no, we are
:24:13. > :24:17.going to have Wogan on his own for the rest of the evening." I need

:25:04. > :25:10.your dancers. Welcome to Children In Need, Cotton? Thank you very much.
:25:11. > :25:21.Thank you very much, Sir Terry Wogan. What an amazing night it's
:25:22. > :25:27.been so far. Brilliant. JLS, One Direction, you saying "Totes amaze"
:25:28. > :25:34.earlier. What does it mean? I don't know. What an honour it is to be
:25:35. > :25:38.part of this night. There is so many treats in store. She's hit the

:26:04. > :26:11.so many stars believe in Children In Need and are all getting stuck in.
:26:12. > :26:18.Now, Sir Tel, do you robe the '80s? Oh yes, the young man of '65 -
:26:19. > :26:22.carefree, all my own teeth, bus pass! Also, it was a very good
:26:23. > :26:30.decade for music videos, too. Really? Yes. Certainly was. None
:26:31. > :26:34.other than comedy legend Harry Hill has re-created Aha's classic '80s

:30:34. > :30:39.Terrific stuff. What about Babs in the make-up room with Peter Andre?
:30:40. > :30:40.Who knew? If you want to see how that was put together, you can go to
:30:41. > :30:58.our website. You have not been the handling a
:30:59. > :31:02.large prop training course! The man of the hour - Harry Hill!
:31:03. > :31:35.CHEERING AND APPLAUSE to Terry's sausage? You call that a
:31:36. > :31:39.sausage, Terry! It's sausage time! I hate to say this, but I think you
:31:40. > :31:47.have been well and truly stumped with that one! I have been sausaged
:31:48. > :31:54.- I have been trumped by Harry Hill! It is a huge shame. That sausage

:32:03. > :32:10.to you, Harry Hill!le Don't just sit on your sofa
:32:11. > :32:16.03457332233. Obviously if you have a mobile phone by you, by all means,
:32:17. > :32:20.stay sitting on the sofa. This sausage is really getting out of
:32:21. > :32:25.control! Thank you so much - Harry Hill,
:32:26. > :32:35.everyone! You can give online.
:32:36. > :32:38.That sausage is heading towards Mars!
:32:39. > :32:44.Wow! As I said, it has a life of its own!
:32:45. > :32:50.There'll be something for everybody in the audience!
:32:51. > :32:55.Who is going to cook it? Well, thanks indeed Harry. Time for
:32:56. > :32:58.another thank you, a momental effort from my extended family at Radio
:32:59. > :33:08.Two. Once again,
:33:09. > :33:11.Radio 2 and her listeners have been fundraising
:33:12. > :33:12.and digging deep to make this year's
:33:13. > :33:15.Children in Need their best one yet. Here's just some
:33:16. > :33:17.of what we've been up to. Chocolate and charity mixed sweetly
:33:18. > :33:19.together as Sir Terry himself hosted a star-studded gala night
:33:20. > :33:21.performance of West End smash Tens of thousands of you

:33:33. > :33:35.all in aid of Pudsey. has been auctioning off
:33:36. > :33:39.once-in-a-lifetime experiences and the response
:33:40. > :33:42.has been incredible. Once again, Radio 2 listeners
:33:43. > :33:46.have gone more than that extra mile, so from everybody at BBC Children
:33:47. > :33:48.in Need, a huge, huge thank you. We couldn't be more grateful.
:33:49. > :35:04.You are our heroes. As a parent, you'll do anything
:35:05. > :35:08.to protect your child. But, sadly, there are times when
:35:09. > :35:10.you can't help and you're powerless. In this next film, a wonderful
:35:11. > :35:15.family tells us how they coped with a situation
:35:16. > :35:17.that every parent dreads and how a project
:35:18. > :35:19.funded by your donations I remember being presented
:35:20. > :35:31.with these two babies The idea of twins
:35:32. > :35:36.was just something special. And that's one of the reasons
:35:37. > :35:47.why they found it so difficult when they had to be apart
:35:48. > :35:50.for such a long period of time In April 2010, four days after this
:35:51. > :35:55.photo was taken, Darcey became unwell
:35:56. > :36:00.and was taken to hospital. "It's either a virus
:36:01. > :36:05.or it's leukaemia." So, we were left there,
:36:06. > :36:12.just sort of like with that thought. And he came back in
:36:13. > :36:15.and he just said, "Unfortunately..." and that's
:36:16. > :36:18.kind of the last thing I could hear, cos that was when our kind of world
:36:19. > :36:22.fell apart. Within just 24 hours,
:36:23. > :36:27.Darcey had started chemotherapy. The medicine made her very tired.
:36:28. > :36:33.She lost the use of her legs. And then she started
:36:34. > :36:37.to lose her hair. I remember a couple of times
:36:38. > :36:42.having to hoover her bed, her bedding and her pillow
:36:43. > :36:44.before she got in it because it was just
:36:45. > :36:46.absolutely covered in hair. that I would hardly get
:36:47. > :36:53.two words out of her and then Harrison would arrive
:36:54. > :36:56.and he just lifted her completely. Darcey... Darcey...
:36:57. > :37:00.It completely becomes your life. Absolutely.
:37:01. > :37:05.It takes over everything. You can't...you can't go anywhere
:37:06. > :37:10.or do normal things. They couldn't go to soft play
:37:11. > :37:17.any more, and that was something
:37:18. > :37:20.that they always loved doing. You kind of find yourself
:37:21. > :37:23.at certain times feeling really low and thinking,
:37:24. > :37:26."My daughter's got cancer." the Parents Association
:37:27. > :37:39.for Seriously Ill Children. They offer support
:37:40. > :37:42.and organise fun family days out for children going through
:37:43. > :37:46.a tough and scary time. Every other family there's kind of
:37:47. > :37:49.going through the same thing. So, you know,
:37:50. > :37:51.your daughter's got no hair, nobody's going to be looking at her
:37:52. > :37:53.in a strange way and asking questions
:37:54. > :37:56.cos there are lots of other families with children
:37:57. > :37:59.in the same circumstance. After a two-year battle with cancer,
:38:00. > :38:05.Darcy is now in remission. They've got a very special bond
:38:06. > :38:12.that a lot of people never have. They might go totally different ways
:38:13. > :38:18.but they'll always have each other. It was, like, sad, because she...
:38:19. > :38:22.I couldn't play with her any more. And how do you feel now? Happy.
:38:23. > :38:29.Because I can see my brother again. is perhaps a little bit tighter
:38:30. > :38:38.for just that little bit longer. And we feel very lucky that
:38:39. > :38:43.we'd got to the end, we'd made it. Tonight there are thousands of
:38:44. > :38:47.children battling serious illness. You can be there to support them
:38:48. > :00:07.and their families Again, staff and customers at the
:00:08. > :00:12.Post Office have given it their all for Children In Need. These guys
:00:13. > :00:20.will pedal for Pudsey, with an 85-mile cycle ride.
:00:21. > :00:29.Branches like this have sold Pudsey goodies, like these paw prints. And
:00:30. > :00:33.Pudsey gift cards. They are going to stop for a cup of
:00:34. > :00:38.tea. They are joined by colleagues who are having a superhero dress-up
:00:39. > :00:46.day. Let's do it!
:00:47. > :00:52.I'm into Hull, where the cycle race finally finishes. I have taken a
:00:53. > :00:55.special route along the way. A huge thank you to all of the staff and
:00:56. > :01:08.customers at the Post Office. You are all heroes!
:01:09. > :01:40.The One Show's ribbing Shau challenge has -- rickshaw challenge
:01:41. > :01:48.has had a massive challenge. The grand arrival of Alex and Team
:01:49. > :01:53.rickshaw. Here is the story so far. 2013 has seen the rickshaw challenge
:01:54. > :01:58.get bigger and better than ever. Alex Jones has been joined by five
:01:59. > :02:04.young people who have been supported by Children In Need projects.
:02:05. > :02:08.Together they make up Team rickshaw. All Four Nations and 700 miles.
:02:09. > :02:13.Think about what all those bullies would say now if they were watching
:02:14. > :02:16.you. They overcame everything that was thrown their way and were
:02:17. > :02:20.supported by their friends and family. Now, they are about to
:02:21. > :02:32.complete the final leg of an incredible adventure.
:02:33. > :02:40.So, here comal election and the team for the -- come Alex and the team
:02:41. > :02:47.for the last leg. They have done it! I cannot believe they are at the
:02:48. > :02:53.finish line! Isn't it amazing! Well done! You have fin crossed the
:02:54. > :02:58.finishing line. How do you feel after this week? It has been an epic
:02:59. > :03:01.adventure and journey. These guys have been incredible. They have
:03:02. > :03:07.ridden every hour of the night, through all weathers, tackled huge
:03:08. > :03:12.hills. Their resilience has captured the imagination of people at home.
:03:13. > :03:16.They are an absolute inspiring group of individuals. It has been an
:03:17. > :03:22.honour to ride with them. Are you shattered or are you doing OK?
:03:23. > :03:26.Freezing, shattered, need a good meal. I will get you a cup of tea.
:03:27. > :03:29.How have you found travelling through the country getting support
:03:30. > :03:34.from the nation behind this amazing challenge? Amazing! People coming
:03:35. > :03:38.out at 2am, still people there cheering you on. It is surprising
:03:39. > :03:43.how much effort people go to give you a two-minute cheer. It has been
:03:44. > :03:47.amazing support throughout the country.
:03:48. > :03:53.??FORCEWHITE Amanda, how have you found it cycling with her? I have
:03:54. > :03:56.found it great to have been given this opportunity. I have found it
:03:57. > :04:04.great to work with these amazing people. It is incredible.
:04:05. > :04:13.How has it been for you, Matt? I have watched every single member of
:04:14. > :04:18.the team grow. When we say 700 miles - that is how far these people have
:04:19. > :04:22.come - they set off from the Giant's Causeway last Friday and to be
:04:23. > :04:25.standing here and to watch the relationship between parent and
:04:26. > :04:28.child because that's what we did this for, you know. It is not just
:04:29. > :04:31.the children that benefit from Children In Need, it is the whole
:04:32. > :04:34.family. That is what the power of this challenge has been about and
:04:35. > :04:39.getting through it together and some of the hills and the long nights
:04:40. > :04:44.have all been worth it and, I mean, they are a testament to each other.
:04:45. > :05:01.You need some really good news. Do you want to hear your Rickshaw
:05:02. > :05:12.Challenge total? Yes. Let's go. You have raised ?1,354,4... NOISE DROWNS
:05:13. > :05:25.OUT AMOUNT What bravery. What endurance. You
:05:26. > :05:28.can always count on The One Show and its loyal viewers, so thank you. You
:05:29. > :05:34.will recognise our next guest from hit television shows Broadchurch and
:05:35. > :05:40.2012. Tonight, she's not here to frighten you. Or to make you laugh.
:05:41. > :05:49.She's here to ask for your support. It's Olivia Coleman.
:05:50. > :05:58.This next one is a tough one. Of course, some of the work we do is to
:05:59. > :06:02.help families who have been through heartbreaking times.
:06:03. > :06:04.But you, the British public, are amazing.
:06:05. > :06:06.You keep giving, you're so very generous,
:06:07. > :06:14.because it means we can keep helping families like this next one.
:06:15. > :06:17.He liked doing most of the same things as me, and...
:06:18. > :06:19.Cos I wasn't really a girly girl when I was younger.
:06:20. > :06:22.I did like to go out and do stuff with him.
:06:23. > :06:27.He was annoying, but I guess I was an annoying little sister sometimes!
:06:28. > :06:30.He loved the idea of being a big brother
:06:31. > :06:33.and she loved the idea of having a brother
:06:34. > :06:42.In February 2011, Kieran went on a school skiing trip to France.
:06:43. > :06:45.I took him with Zoe to the school to be picked up on the coach.
:06:46. > :06:47.I said, "See you later, mate. Have a good time."
:06:48. > :06:55."Having a great time, really enjoying it."
:06:56. > :07:00.And that was the day of his accident.
:07:01. > :07:06.it's broken arm, broken leg, that sort of thing, you know.
:07:07. > :07:09.And then we had a phone call from one of the teachers in France
:07:10. > :07:11.saying that it is a very serious accident,
:07:12. > :07:13.you really need to get over here...now.
:07:14. > :07:20.This was seven, eight o'clock at night, I suppose.
:07:21. > :07:24.We didn't realise how difficult it was to book a flight.
:07:25. > :07:27.No. On the internet, on the phone, trying to find any flight.
:07:28. > :07:29.So, five o'clock the next morning, we flew out to France.
:07:30. > :07:35.And that's...that's when our life went downhill, really.
:07:36. > :07:39.Kieran was involved in an accident when getting off the ski lift.
:07:40. > :07:42.It caused his airway to become restricted.
:07:43. > :07:47.Kieran was taken to hospital, where he was in a coma.
:07:48. > :07:49.My mum and dad had to go in first and then I went in after.
:07:50. > :07:55.I expected him to just have fallen over or something, being him.
:07:56. > :07:59.We just wanted to try anything we could to...to get him back to us.
:08:00. > :08:02.You know, we had music playing through his iPod, reading to him.
:08:03. > :08:10.They didn't think he'd be coming back out.
:08:11. > :08:16.On the 17th of March 2011, he died in hospital.
:08:17. > :08:25.We couldn't just focus on what had happened and Kieran.
:08:26. > :08:28.We needed to make sure that Zoe's OK.
:08:29. > :08:32.Your natural instinct, isn't it, to try and make everything better,
:08:33. > :08:36.and we just couldn't, could we? No, no, absolutely.
:08:37. > :08:39.No, it was taken out of our hands, wasn't it? Mm.
:08:40. > :08:44.That's where Balloons came in, really, wasn't it? Yeah.
:08:45. > :08:49.Balloons is a bereavement charity supported by Children in Need.
:08:50. > :08:57.Thanks to your generosity, they can provide counsellors
:08:58. > :09:01.like Naomi to support children who have lost a loved one.
:09:02. > :09:02.We can't take away the pain of losing somebody.
:09:03. > :09:04.But having somebody that you can talk to about things
:09:05. > :09:08.I felt comfortable with being with her
:09:09. > :09:17.to remember the person that they're there for.
:09:18. > :09:21.Who are you doing your biscuit for? Dad.
:09:22. > :09:24.It was nice, because you felt you weren't the only one.
:09:25. > :09:30.that have gone through the same kind of thing as you.
:09:31. > :09:32.It's lovely to see that she's really settled
:09:33. > :09:35.and she's made friends in the new school, and it's...it's...
:09:36. > :09:39.Yeah, she's looking like she's doing really well.
:09:40. > :09:42.I think it showed us that we're not alone,
:09:43. > :09:47.and have survived and come out the other side.
:09:48. > :09:50.We've still got a long way to go yet.
:09:51. > :09:53.We have settled, haven't we, a bit? Yeah, yeah.
:09:54. > :09:58.Shall we let them go? Shall we? Yeah.
:09:59. > :10:02.You expect those kids to be there and be planning your funeral,
:10:03. > :10:08.And to have that whole part of our life ripped away from us
:10:09. > :10:15.we wouldn't have coped without Balloons.
:10:16. > :10:21.you are helping us to support more brave children like Zoe.
:10:22. > :10:40.Our hearts go out to you, Zoe. You are a wonderful girl. Thank you for
:10:41. > :10:44.talking to us. It costs ?400 to train a grief support worker like
:10:45. > :10:49.Naomi. You can see how much she helped Zoe. Of course, I'm not
:10:50. > :10:54.asking you to donate ?400 by yourself - of course not! Anything
:10:55. > :10:58.you give, anything, will be appreciated. A penny or a pound. We
:10:59. > :11:02.want to continue to support the hugely important work being done by
:11:03. > :11:10.projects like Balloons. To do that, we rely on your donations, so,
:11:11. > :11:14.please, call us on 03457 33 22 33. Thank you.
:11:15. > :11:23.It is time for another thank you. Check it out.
:11:24. > :11:30.I have come to say a thank you to the staff and customers of Greg's.
:11:31. > :11:40.-- Gregg' s. How are you doing, Jason?
:11:41. > :11:43.Hey! Pav! Nice to see you! Um, could you get me
:11:44. > :11:49.some Children in Need cupcakes? Jason Donovan,
:11:50. > :11:51.I'll get on it right away. Right. Do you want a cupcake?
:11:52. > :12:02.Thank you! Could you give something
:12:03. > :12:05.to Children in Need today? On behalf of everyone
:12:06. > :12:06.at Children in Need, to all the staff
:12:07. > :12:37.and customers at Greggs... ?953,000. That is wonderful. Close
:12:38. > :12:43.to ?1 million. Children In Need wouldn't happen without your help
:12:44. > :12:50.and support. Thank you. Definitely. Now, with 1950s-inspired medley -
:12:51. > :13:01.shall we do this, Terry? I'm hoping... It is Call The Midwife.
:13:02. > :13:56.# Seem to cool in the warmth of the sun
:13:57. > :15:25.# Why does the rain fall from up above?
:15:26. > :15:37.# Love is a losing game and love can be a shame
:15:38. > :15:45.# Tell me why-ah ah ah ah ah, tell me why?
:15:46. > :16:32.# Why does the rain fall from up above?
:16:33. > :16:42.# Why does my heart skip a crazy beat?
:16:43. > :17:35.That was fantastic. Thank you, guys. Wasn't that brilliant? If you
:17:36. > :17:38.enjoyed that, it is now available for downloads with proceeds going to
:17:39. > :17:45.Children In Need. All the details are on bbc.co.uk/pudsey. Thank you.
:17:46. > :17:48.Fantastic. And after 10.00pm on BBC Two, we will be showing you an
:17:49. > :17:54.exclusive clip from the Call The Midwife Christmas Special. Terry,
:17:55. > :17:59.over to you. Well, I shall be with you as soon as the camera turns to
:18:00. > :18:05.me! Thank you, Fearne. Now, here to introduce a very important film is a
:18:06. > :18:07.Children In Need angel - and she's helped us before, the lovely Cheryl
:18:08. > :18:19.Cole. Children In Need is nothing without
:18:20. > :18:21.you. Many of these families have been through desperate times and
:18:22. > :18:24.heartache. because they want others to be given
:18:25. > :18:29.the same support they have received. In this next film, a wonderful mum
:18:30. > :18:32.and dad share their story with us. But you will see
:18:33. > :18:39.that even in the saddest of times, This is Harry.
:18:40. > :18:50.He was born on 26th April, 2009. he was in my arms
:18:51. > :18:57.and he was perfect, really. we noticed he had blisters
:18:58. > :19:02.under his fingernails. We ended up taking him
:19:03. > :19:05.to the local hospital. Harry was diagnosed
:19:06. > :19:10.with epydermolysis bullosa, or EB, There was a milk spot on his chin
:19:11. > :19:18.which became sore, and the wound spread all over
:19:19. > :19:23.his face, from head to toe. Sufferers are often called
:19:24. > :19:26."butterfly children", because their skin
:19:27. > :19:29.becomes so fragile. We could not handle him
:19:30. > :19:31.like a normal child. You could not pick him up
:19:32. > :19:33.under the armpits quickly, because you would shear the skin
:19:34. > :19:35.under the armpits. It was a lot of rolling and lifting
:19:36. > :19:41.with blankets and cushions. The disease also causes damage
:19:42. > :19:46.to the mouth and throat. Harry was given a tracheostomy
:19:47. > :19:50.to help him breathe. We walked in and you could see
:19:51. > :19:54.that he was crying, That... It broke my heart.
:19:55. > :20:01.Broke both of our hearts. Steph said to me,
:20:02. > :20:04."He's never going to say mummy". Harry had the most severe form
:20:05. > :20:07.of the condition. He was unlikely to survive
:20:08. > :20:15.his early years of childhood. In 2011, Harry had a little brother,
:20:16. > :20:26.Cody. we noticed with Cody straight away,
:20:27. > :20:31.there were blisters on his hands. With both Harry and Cody
:20:32. > :20:39.needing round-the-clock care, the family were introduced
:20:40. > :20:43.to Julia's House Children's Hospice. They offer respite
:20:44. > :20:46.and end-of-life care for children
:20:47. > :20:49.with life-limiting conditions. They rely on donations
:20:50. > :20:56.for 90% of their running costs. Children In Need funds
:20:57. > :21:02.wonderful nurses like Alex. they automatically say
:21:03. > :21:06.it must be really sad. But a children's hospice
:21:07. > :21:10.is completely different. You know in the back of your mind
:21:11. > :21:13.that one day, these children are going to die
:21:14. > :21:15.early. But we have fun with them
:21:16. > :21:21.in the short life they have got. We used to say to Harry, "We are
:21:22. > :21:24.going to Julia's house today". They put clingfilm
:21:25. > :21:32.around the boys' bandages so they could still get involved
:21:33. > :21:37.with messy play. They made a jelly island
:21:38. > :21:40.with jelly babies, on sweets, so it looked like
:21:41. > :21:43.they were on sun loungers. Little things like that, that they
:21:44. > :21:45.used to make, it was brilliant. They don't do their job
:21:46. > :21:49.just to pay the bills. They do it because they love
:21:50. > :21:51.what they do. They love the kids
:21:52. > :21:54.and helping families. There was just something
:21:55. > :21:58.about their characters you could not help
:21:59. > :22:00.fall in love with. They had a very special place
:22:01. > :22:03.in everybody's hearts. Harry absolutely adored him,
:22:04. > :22:07.loved him, helped feed him, He would go, "My baby,"
:22:08. > :22:12.and show him off. He introduced him to everyone.
:22:13. > :22:16."This is my brother". I did not understand how strong
:22:17. > :22:18.their bond was until they got ill. Earlier this year,
:22:19. > :22:24.Harry and Cody caught flu. For most children,
:22:25. > :22:27.this is not serious but for them,
:22:28. > :22:31.it was life-threatening. Doctors said there was nothing more
:22:32. > :22:35.they could do. He was taken to the bereavement
:22:36. > :22:42.suite at Julia's House. It is an amazing room,
:22:43. > :22:45.the most peaceful area of the house. It was literally seconds, then
:22:46. > :22:50.he passed away in Steph's arms. Harry died on 13th March.
:22:51. > :22:56.He was three years old. Two days later, his little brother
:22:57. > :22:59.Cody also passed away. The only comfort we have now
:23:00. > :23:06.is knowing they are together. If it was not for the donations, our
:23:07. > :23:11.children would not have had a chance to go to such an amazing place,
:23:12. > :23:16.and to meet such amazing people, and to feel loved,
:23:17. > :23:24.right up until the day they died. Children In Need supports
:23:25. > :23:51.15 children's hospices in the UK, Together we can help people, even in
:23:52. > :23:54.the darkest of times. Here with the official Children In Need single -
:23:55. > :23:57.and it is one of the best we have ever had - the wonderful Ellie
:23:58. > :23:59.Goulding and Ellie has asked that you phone to donate whilst she is
:24:00. > :27:46.singing. Thank you, Ellie. That was so
:27:47. > :27:56.beautiful. Ellie Goulding, everyone. CHEERING AND APPLAUSE
:27:57. > :28:00.Now, you can download the track - I can't do it again - download the
:28:01. > :28:03.track with proceeds going to Children In Need. Details are on
:28:04. > :28:10.bbc.co.uk/pudsey. Thank you. Thank you so much. We are about to take a
:28:11. > :28:16.sojourn into the - I will say that again - in the resplendent rolling
:28:17. > :28:22.plains of BBC Two television. Before we cross the airwaves, let's find
:28:23. > :28:31.out how much we have raised so far. The totaliser, do your thing.
:28:32. > :28:38.ALAN DEDICOAT: The total raised so far is ?15,702,605!
:28:39. > :29:00.Brilliant. ?15,702,605. So flip over to BBC Two now. One Direction will
:29:01. > :29:02.be in the Queen Vic. Go! Go!
