:06:23. > :06:51.We'll make it pop, honey. # An incredible performance. Thank you

:06:52. > :06:56.James. James is donating his time in the hope that you will donate your

:06:57. > :07:02.money to help children here in the UK. Well said, Joey. Times are

:07:03. > :07:08.really tough now, money's tight, Christmas is an extra expense for

:07:09. > :07:13.many families who don't know how they are going to get through it.

:07:14. > :07:17.I'm not talking about presents but the bare necessities of life, which

:07:18. > :07:22.most of us take for granted. We are lucky. In this next film we are

:07:23. > :07:26.going to hear about three families really struggling to cope through no

:07:27. > :07:31.fault of their own. Here to tell us more are a King of the jungle, a

:07:32. > :07:33.Crown Prince of Strictly, a guitarist and a singer. That will be

:07:34. > :08:05.McFly then. When Hayley finishes her school she

:08:06. > :08:10.comes home and does all the cooking and the cleaning because Hayley's

:08:11. > :08:13.mum can't work, because there is no spare money. We are not talking

:08:14. > :08:19.about money for toys and treats but the real basics. This family can't

:08:20. > :08:24.even afford to buy themselves weds. -- beds. So Hayley and her mum sleep

:08:25. > :08:28.together on a sofa on the lounge. No child's life should be this hard.

:08:29. > :08:34.For nine-year-old Conor and his brothers and sisters every day is a

:08:35. > :08:39.struggle. Two years ago his dad committed suicide. The family are

:08:40. > :08:45.desperately trying to rebuild their lives but they are finding it hard.

:08:46. > :08:50.Their mum had to borrow money for their dad's funeral and they are now

:08:51. > :08:55.in serious debt. On taxpayer top of all the -- on top of all the

:08:56. > :08:59.heartache they are going through, Conor, his brothers and sisters, all

:09:00. > :09:06.sleep in the same room as their mum. The beds they sleep in are

:09:07. > :09:09.uncomfortable and broken. Conor's family have not had a good night's

:09:10. > :09:15.sleep in years. No child's life should be this hard. Seven-year-old

:09:16. > :09:19.Hannah and her little brother have had a desperately tough time in

:09:20. > :09:22.their short lives. Their mum was a victim of domestic violence. She

:09:23. > :09:26.managed to get herself and the children to a safe place but earlier

:09:27. > :09:31.this year a fire destroyed their home. They are now in emergency

:09:32. > :09:36.accommodation so they have a roof over their heads but that's about

:09:37. > :09:41.it. The few things they owned were lost in the fire, so Hannah and her

:09:42. > :09:46.family sleep together on a borrowed mattress on the floor. The

:09:47. > :09:49.conditions they have to live in are affecting Hannah's health and her

:09:50. > :09:54.future. No child's life should be this hard.

:09:55. > :09:57.But thanks to your donations we can help. Children in Need supports

:09:58. > :10:01.organisations like Butler UK that provide emergency support for

:10:02. > :10:06.children and families living in crisis. Thank to you Hayley, Conor

:10:07. > :10:11.and Hannah now have a warm bed to sleep in tonight. But there are more

:10:12. > :10:16.than 1. 5 million children living in severe poverty in this country. We

:10:17. > :10:24.need to support them. And tonight with your help we can. Please call:

:10:25. > :10:25.03457 33 22 33 thank you.

:10:26. > :10:38.CHEERING AND APPLAUSE Having a bed to sleep in isn't a

:10:39. > :10:42.lucky, it's a right. We will continue to support Bottle UK and

:10:43. > :10:46.give emergency grants to pay for essentials like beds, cookers,

:10:47. > :10:51.fridges for children who are living in severe poverty. I'm sorry to say

:10:52. > :10:56.that having to, they are having to turn people away. There are more

:10:57. > :11:02.families in need than there is funding. If your children are safely

:11:03. > :11:06.tucked up in bed now, spare a thought for those little ones who

:11:07. > :11:14.don't have anywhere to sleep. Give us a call: 03457 33 22 33.

:11:15. > :11:18.Thank you Terry. Well done. Who can ever forget nan from the Tate at a

:11:19. > :11:27.time at a time Show? We all love nan. Am I bovvered? No, that wasn't

:11:28. > :11:32.nan, that was Lauren. Am I bovvered? This could go on. It's like she's in

:11:33. > :11:39.the room. Nan's been keeping a low profile of late... Did you just

:11:40. > :11:44.snort then? CHEERING It is not very good manners

:11:45. > :11:49.to remark when somebody snorts. I'm so sorry. Anyway, I was amusing

:11:50. > :11:55.myself. Nan's been keeping a low profile of late putting the worlds

:11:56. > :11:58.to right in her favourite armchair, but unfortunately nan's been

:11:59. > :12:02.released to hospital and not just any hospital, so best of luck and

:12:03. > :12:05.hold tight to all the staff at Holby City. Let's hope she minds her

:12:06. > :12:13.language. Chrissie, Mr Clark has been

:12:14. > :12:15.diagnosing himself What is it this time,

:12:16. > :12:21.scurvy or plague? Can we confiscate his phone, please?

:12:22. > :12:25.Help me. Someone get in here. Will you please tell her, over

:12:26. > :12:31.there, with her face, to stop looking at

:12:32. > :12:34.me? Stop looking at me

:12:35. > :12:44.with that face, will you? I mean, how are you supposed

:12:45. > :12:47.to make a recovery when you've got that putrid old

:12:48. > :12:50.rotting boat looking at you? if I have to look at her much

:12:51. > :12:55.longer. Oi, love. Close them

:12:56. > :13:00.curtains, will you? My dinner will be here in a minute

:13:01. > :13:03.and don't make me look at that when I've got to eat,

:13:04. > :13:05.for Gawd's sake. Mrs Taylor? There have been

:13:06. > :13:12.a number of complaints about you, That's the heart monitor you

:13:13. > :13:25.requested. You're going to be fine,

:13:26. > :13:27.Mrs Taylor. Oof. Here she is!

:13:28. > :13:34.It's me little Chantelle. She's a good girl.

:13:35. > :13:37.Oh, you got my dinner, darling? She's got me dinner. She didn't have

:13:38. > :13:40.to get my dinner, darling. You've got better things to do

:13:41. > :13:42.than running round, I'm much obliged to you for

:13:43. > :13:47.getting... Where's me beans? She shouldn't be allowed to get

:13:48. > :13:55.people's dinners. I'm going to leave you with

:13:56. > :13:58.Chantelle, Mrs Taylor How are you feeling today,

:13:59. > :14:04.Mrs Taylor? You've come up to see me?

:14:05. > :14:14.I've come up to see you. I'm better now I've see you,

:14:15. > :14:26.darling. All I need is to see your beautiful

:14:27. > :14:27.little face. So what did you bring me? Just what

:14:28. > :14:34.you asked for - large cod and chips. I mean,

:14:35. > :14:50.once you get over how short he is. It's all right, son. You can

:14:51. > :15:02.say it now. No-one cares.

:15:03. > :15:05.They're all gay, ain't they? Hello, Mrs Taylor.

:15:06. > :15:15.Oh, here's me chap! He saved me life. Saved me life,

:15:16. > :15:20.didn't you? What a surgeon! You brought me back from the brink,

:15:21. > :15:25.didn't you, love? Yeah. Could have spread, though,

:15:26. > :15:32.couldn't it? The good news is that you're

:15:33. > :15:35.fine to go home. Oh! Do you hear that, love?

:15:36. > :15:39.Oh, I can go home! Well, if you say I can go,

:15:40. > :15:43.I can go home then. Cos you know what... He knows what

:15:44. > :15:46.he's talking about, this one. He wants to sling me

:15:47. > :16:00.out on the street? It's OK. Oh, that's all right,

:16:01. > :16:09.darling. That's only me bedpan. Nan, shall we get out of here?

:16:10. > :16:16.No, son. No fear. I've been paying my

:16:17. > :16:19.taxes 50 years, love. and all the toilet roll you can

:16:20. > :16:29.put into an overnight bag. No, love, I'll shall be in here

:16:30. > :16:33.for at least another fortnight. There are people in real need of

:16:34. > :17:08.hospitalisation who need this bed. Nan, I hope you get better soon, but

:17:09. > :17:12.I'm not really bovvered. A huge thank you to Holby City, the

:17:13. > :17:16.hilarious Catherine Tate for unleashing her comedy creation on

:17:17. > :17:21.Children in Need. Terry, I need to ask you, did you get that internet

:17:22. > :17:27.clip I September you the other day? Yes, Gangnam style, a lovely ditty

:17:28. > :17:35.but Zoe's that's so 2012. These days the kids are all digging, if that's

:17:36. > :17:44.the phrase I'm looking for. A new sensation from Ylvis call the Fox.

:17:45. > :17:49.Have you come off your tab it is? Tell me more. One more crack about

:17:50. > :17:56.tablets and you'll hear no more from me! For the first time ever in the

:17:57. > :18:01.UK, Ylvis are on this very stage perform ng What Does The Fox Say? .

:22:30. > :22:35.Everyone is giving their all for Pudsey's appeal but it does seem

:22:45. > :22:55.Right, front cover of the Countryfile calendar here I come.

:22:56. > :23:00.Greg? John Craven. What on earth are you doing? The front of the

:30:57. > :31:00.Back to the studio. Thank you. A special atmosphere this

:31:01. > :31:05.year. It just sums up how many of you have

:31:06. > :31:08.given up your time for the children who need it most. As a mum the

:31:09. > :31:13.thought of telling your children you might not be there for them as they

:31:14. > :31:19.grow up must be truly heartbreaking. It happens on a daily basis. Here to

:31:20. > :31:25.introduce the next film is Kylie Minogue.

:31:26. > :31:29.Every two minutes in this country, someone is diagnosed with cancer.

:31:30. > :31:32.Telling loved ones, and in particular, children,

:31:33. > :31:34.is especially hard, but with the right support,

:31:35. > :31:36.this most traumatic of times can be made a little more bearable.

:31:37. > :31:41.I want to introduce the Metcalfe family from Northern Ireland.

:32:19. > :32:24.We would take it one day at a time and see how it worked.

:32:25. > :32:29.Owen felt very upset. Jack was quite aggressive at times.

:32:30. > :32:32.It is as if they are expected to just get on with it

:32:33. > :32:36.because they're kids and they're resilient and bounce back.

:32:37. > :32:40.I felt in some ways like I'd let them down.

:32:41. > :32:44.It was very difficult, the questions of,

:32:45. > :32:52."But Mum, what if your cancer does not get better? What if you die?"

:33:15. > :33:16.This is everyone at the campervan site.

:33:17. > :33:24.We helped explain to the boys what cancer was, that hopefully,

:33:25. > :33:29.Mummy was going to get better, and it was not something they had done.

:33:30. > :33:32.Jack came out and explained chemotherapy to me

:33:33. > :33:37.in a way that a consultant has never done, ever.

:33:41. > :33:47.While life was very different for them, they were OK.

:33:48. > :33:51.As well as supporting children through a very difficult time,

:33:52. > :33:55.prepare for life after losing a loved one.

:33:56. > :34:00.My biggest worry was that if something did happen to me,

:34:01. > :34:05.I do a thing called "Writing for the future".

:34:06. > :34:08.I sit with people and record them and help them write something

:34:09. > :34:11.which can be there forever, for the children.

:34:12. > :34:15.I love it when you smile at me because your eyes dance.

:34:16. > :34:17.I feel proud when you sing in the school choir.

:34:18. > :34:25.This was just a tiny way of trying to explain to them

:34:26. > :34:31.but it does not change how much I love them.

:34:32. > :34:36.Earlier this year, Louise was given some good news.

:34:37. > :34:48.And the boys were just over the moon. Over the moon.

:34:54. > :35:01.She is very generous with her heart and her spirit and her time.

:35:02. > :35:13.There's a phrase I kept hold of, and a little saying,

:35:14. > :35:19."When it rains, look for rainbows. When it's dark, look for stars".

:35:20. > :35:26.things like Cancer Focus were very much rainbows and stars.

:35:27. > :35:29.Your money funds wonderful people like Rachel,

:35:30. > :35:32.who helps Louise and her family through a very scary time.

:35:33. > :35:34.Sadly, not every family will be as fortunate.

:35:35. > :35:37.But with your donations tonight, projects like Cancer Focus

:35:38. > :35:39.can be there when families need help the most.

:35:40. > :36:01.For you. Stay well. Thank you so much for sharing your story with us.

:36:02. > :36:07.The support they received was absolutely vital. Could I ask you to

:36:08. > :36:10.show your support tonight by calling:

:36:11. > :36:20.Thank you! Now, Zoe, you heard about the latest

:36:21. > :36:28.supergroup made up of dafr punk, Robin Thicke and Tinie Tempah. What

:36:29. > :36:34.are they called? Daft, thick and tiny!

:36:35. > :36:42.Hang on! Are they the presenters of top gear?

:37:32. > :37:37.# It's all about you, baby It's all about you

:37:38. > :37:42.# It's all about you It's about you

:37:43. > :38:09.# One day when I came home at lunchtime, I heard a funny noise

:38:10. > :38:13.# Went out to the back yard to find it was one of those rowdy boys

:38:14. > :38:17.# Stood there was my neighbour called Peter and a flux capacitor

:38:18. > :38:20.# He told me he built a time machine

:38:21. > :38:23.# Like the one in the film I've seen

:38:24. > :38:34.# Not much has changed but they lived under water

:38:35. > :38:38.# And your great-great-great- granddaughter is pretty fine

:38:39. > :39:43.# Air hostess I like the way you dress

:39:44. > :39:47.# You know I hate to fly But I feel much better

:39:48. > :39:50.# Occupied my mind Writing you a love letter

:39:51. > :39:53.# I messed my pants When we flew over France

:39:54. > :39:57.# Will I see you soon in my hotel room

:39:58. > :40:10.# Air hostess I like the way you dress

:42:36. > :42:42.fight. Hi, Harry! How are you? Fine, thanks. How are you doing?

:42:43. > :42:43.No biting, no scratching, no flinging gold disks at one and

:42:44. > :43:03.other. See you later. They are a lovely bunch of young

:43:04. > :43:05.lads, aren't they? I think it is time for another thank

:43:06. > :43:18.you. No wonder this carriage took so

:43:19. > :43:20.long. It has no horse! This sovereign is counterfeit.

:43:21. > :43:23.Look, it has the wrong Queen. and the money you donate

:43:24. > :43:29.will change the lives of disadvantaged children

:43:30. > :43:31.all over the UK. I need to place a call

:43:32. > :43:34.to BBC Children in Need using a TELEPHONE,

:43:35. > :43:36.as invented by yours truly, and I can't seem to see one

:43:37. > :43:41.anywhere. Dial one of the call centres

:43:42. > :43:48.around the UK, where hard-working volunteers

:43:49. > :43:52.will happily take your donation. "to all the staff and volunteers

:43:53. > :44:22.at BT..." Absolutely brilliant! Very, very

:44:23. > :44:27.good indeed! What do you fancy doing now? Do you mean until somebody puts

:44:28. > :44:33.the script up again? Don't forget the money you are raising is spent

:44:34. > :44:40.right here in the UK. Over the past year, 450,000 children have been

:44:45. > :44:48.Swindon and 17 in Newcastle: We have to keep it going. We need to tell

:44:49. > :44:56.you where you are lending a hand. There are children at the end of

:49:03. > :49:09.Andre and Babs! Who would have thought it. I saw her at The Savoy

:49:16. > :49:19.Tonight it gets better and better. Right now, we have something very

:49:20. > :49:23.special for you. They have done their vocal warm-ups, they have put

:49:33. > :50:07.Battle of the Boy Bands! Hello again! It is Harry again!

:50:08. > :50:11.Boys, thank you very, vur much. Calm yourself, mad -- very much. Calm

:50:12. > :50:16.yourself, madam! Throughout the night, you guys will take part in

:50:17. > :50:25.three challenges. You will see - I will see you shred blood, sweat and

:50:26. > :50:31.probably tears to prove your worth as the best boy band in the world!

:50:32. > :50:38.OK, so McFly, how do you fancy your chances? It is in the bag, Zoe!

:50:39. > :50:44.That is what he thinks! How is that for fighting talk? He who laughs

:50:45. > :50:49.last laughs longest. Very wise words! Let's get down to business.

:50:50. > :50:55.The aim of the game is to answer as many questions correctly in 60

:50:56. > :50:59.seconds. All the answers will be McFly or JLS. To gain a point you

:51:00. > :51:03.must shout out who you think the correct answer is. If you get it

:51:04. > :51:08.correct, you will need to throw one of these...

:51:09. > :51:12.APPLAUSE At the gold disks over there. You

:51:13. > :51:16.only win a point if you get the answer correct and you hit the

:51:54. > :52:00.better to help me than my glamorous assistant - Mr Shane Richie!

:52:01. > :52:08.I will get out of the way. I am not standing there! Hello, sweet heart!

:52:09. > :52:11.They have drunk the Queen Vic dry tonight!

:53:39. > :53:50.Time is up. Well done! JLS have scored a massive... Three points.

:53:51. > :54:00.Right, OK, are you ready McFly? Boys, come on!

:54:01. > :54:05.OK... Ready, your 60 seconds on the clock starts now... Which band has

:54:06. > :54:12.more married members? McFly. It is true. Harry and Tom!

:54:13. > :54:24.Which band has a member with Ian in their middle name? JLS. Which band

:54:25. > :54:28.combined age is higher? JLS. No, it is McFly.

:54:29. > :54:34.Which has a song named after a vegetable? McFly. That is you! What

:54:35. > :54:43.is the song? Which band has the oldest member? Be

:54:44. > :54:47.careful! JLS. It is mar vein! No!

:55:20. > :55:23.tonight's Battle Of The Band - it is a draw!

:55:24. > :55:27.See, he was not wearing his glasses. That is it for round one. This is

:55:28. > :55:35.shaping up to be an epic battle. Stick around for more of this later.

:55:36. > :55:41.He's so embarrassed. Give it urp for -- up for JLS, McFly and Shane

:55:42. > :55:45.Richie! APPLAUSE

:55:46. > :55:52.And there is more boy band rivalry coming up on round two later. Now,

:55:53. > :56:01.excuse me... Now we take you to Exeter, Devon for our next film. We

:56:02. > :56:06.will introduce you to another incredible girl called Zoe.

:56:07. > :56:09.I'm sorry, but this next one's a tough one.

:56:10. > :56:12.Please stay with us; it's important.

:56:13. > :56:14.You see, we don't show you these films to upset you.

:56:15. > :56:16.It's so you understand the work that Children in Need does

:56:17. > :56:22.is to help families who've been through heartbreaking times.

:56:23. > :56:24.But you, the British public, are amazing.

:56:25. > :56:26.You keep giving, you're so very generous,

:56:27. > :56:32.because it means we can keep helping families like this next one.

:56:33. > :56:35.He liked doing most of the same things as me, and...

:56:36. > :56:38.Cos I wasn't really a girly girl when I was younger.

:56:39. > :56:42.I did like to go out and do stuff with him.

:56:43. > :56:46.He was annoying, but I guess I was an annoying little sister sometimes!

:56:47. > :56:49.He loved the idea of being a big brother

:56:50. > :56:52.and she loved the idea of having a brother

:56:53. > :57:02.In February 2011, Kieran went on a school skiing trip to France.

:57:03. > :57:04.I took him with Zoe to the school to be picked up on the coach.

:57:05. > :57:06.I said, "See you later, mate. Have a good time."

:57:07. > :57:13."Having a great time, really enjoying it."

:57:14. > :57:18.And that was the day of his accident.

:57:19. > :57:24.it's broken arm, broken leg, that sort of thing, you know.

:57:25. > :57:29.And then we had a phone call from one of the teachers in France

:57:30. > :57:32.saying that it is a very serious accident,

:57:33. > :57:36.you really need to get over here...now.

:57:37. > :57:39.This was seven, eight o'clock at night, I suppose.

:57:40. > :57:41.We didn't realise how difficult it was to book a flight.

:57:42. > :57:44.No. On the internet, on the phone, trying to find any flight.

:57:45. > :57:48.So, five o'clock the next morning, we flew out to France.

:57:49. > :57:55.And that's...that's when our life went downhill, really.

:57:56. > :57:59.Kieran was involved in an accident when getting off the ski lift.

:58:00. > :58:01.It caused his airway to become restricted.

:58:02. > :58:05.Kieran was taken to hospital, where he was in a coma.

:58:06. > :58:08.My mum and dad had to go in first and then I went in after.

:58:09. > :58:13.I expected him to just have fallen over or something, being him.

:58:14. > :58:16.We just wanted to try anything we could to...to get him back to us.

:58:17. > :58:21.You know, we had music playing through his iPod, reading to him.

:58:22. > :58:28.They didn't think he'd be coming back out.

:58:29. > :58:36.On the 17th March 2011, he died in hospital.

:58:37. > :58:44.We couldn't just focus on what had happened and Kieran.

:58:45. > :58:47.We needed to make sure that Zoe's OK.

:58:48. > :58:50.Your natural instinct, isn't it, to try and make everything better,

:58:51. > :58:53.and we just couldn't, could we? No, no, absolutely.

:58:54. > :58:57.No, it was taken out of our hands, wasn't it? Mm.

:58:58. > :59:03.That's where Balloons came in, really, wasn't it? Yeah.

:59:04. > :59:07.Balloons is a bereavement charity supported by Children in Need.

:59:08. > :59:12.Thanks to your generosity, they can provide counsellors

:59:13. > :59:16.like Naomi to support children who have lost a loved one.

:59:17. > :59:18.We can't take away the pain of losing somebody.

:59:19. > :59:21.But having somebody that you can talk to about things

:59:22. > :59:25.I felt comfortable with being with her

:59:26. > :59:36.to remember the person that they're there for.

:59:37. > :59:39.Who are you doing your biscuit for? Dad.

:59:40. > :59:42.It was nice, because you felt you weren't the only one.

:59:43. > :59:49.that have gone through the same kind of thing as you.

:59:50. > :59:52.It's lovely to see that she's really settled

:59:53. > :59:54.and she's made friends in the new school, and it's...it's...

:59:55. > :59:58.Yeah, she's looking like she's doing really well.

:59:59. > :00:00.I think it showed us that we're not alone,

:00:01. > :00:05.and have survived and come out the other side.

:00:06. > :00:07.We've still got a long way to go yet.

:00:08. > :00:12.We have settled, haven't we, a bit? Yeah, yeah.

:00:13. > :00:16.Shall we let them go? Shall we? Yeah.

:00:17. > :00:21.You expect those kids to be there and be planning your funeral,

:00:22. > :00:27.And to have that whole part of our life ripped away from us

:00:28. > :00:33.we wouldn't have coped without Balloons.

:00:34. > :00:37.you are helping us to support more brave children like Zoe.

:00:38. > :00:54.raise much-needed money. Yes, err all heroes. I LEAR

:00:55. > :01:04.Toy, you are a real inspiration -- Zoe, you are a real inspiration and

:01:05. > :01:09.we thank you. To support them, we rely on your donations, so please

:01:10. > :01:13.give anything you can to 03457 33 22 33.

:01:14. > :01:20.And now for something completely different. Terry is just about to

:01:21. > :01:25.welcome a comedy legend. Do you remember the '70s, that

:01:26. > :01:33.wonderful decade began and ended with two of the most influential

:01:34. > :01:38.comedies ever - Monty Python and Blankety Blank. At last those two

:01:39. > :01:45.miracles of television come face to face. Welcome the co-creator of the

:01:46. > :01:47.Broadway andest end smash Spamalot, it is Eric Idle!

:01:48. > :02:06.CHEERING What a man, what a man!

:02:07. > :02:13.Congratulations on the success of Spamalot. Thank you, Sir. Is it a

:02:14. > :02:17.silly question to ask why it is so popular? I don't know if you

:02:18. > :02:25.remember the last century very much, but there was a toy boy band called

:02:26. > :02:33.Monty Python. We did a silly film call Monty Python And The Holy Grail

:02:34. > :02:38.so I cunningly ripped that off by putting girls in it and it was a hit

:02:39. > :02:42.on Broadway. Smart man. With Spamalot, what would King Arthur and

:02:43. > :02:46.the knights of the round table done do you think to raise money for

:02:47. > :02:50.Children in Need? Probably threaten to cut people's limbs off unless

:02:51. > :02:56.they gave a lot of money. I think that's not a bad scheme. Violence

:02:57. > :02:58.often raises a lot of money. Perhaps not terribly appropriate for

:02:59. > :03:04.Children in Need but I see where you are going with this. Inappropriate

:03:05. > :03:10.as always. Now, here with one of the best-loved songs from Spamalot, by

:03:11. > :03:14.coincidence my mantra as well, always look on the bright side of

:03:15. > :03:39.life. CHEERING

:03:40. > :03:44.Some things in life are bad. They can really make you mad.

:03:45. > :03:47.Other things just make you swear and curse

:03:48. > :03:50.When you're chewing on life's gristle,

:03:51. > :03:57.and this'll help things turn out for the best...

:03:58. > :04:03.# Always look on the bright side of life... #

:04:04. > :04:10.# Always look on the light side of life... #

:04:11. > :04:18.# There's something you've forgotten

:04:19. > :04:20.# And that's to laugh and smile and dance and sing

:04:21. > :04:28.# Just purse your lips and whistle that's the thing

:04:29. > :04:32.# Always look on the bright side of life... #

:04:33. > :04:40.# Always look on the right side of life... #

:04:41. > :04:50.# You must always face the curtain with a bow

:09:37. > :09:41.it looks like we have another record. We are delighted so far with

:09:42. > :09:45.the the response, so thank you from the bottom of our hearts from the

:09:46. > :09:49.underprivileged children of this country. We must thank some of the

:09:50. > :09:56.people who've helped ussous. That's brilliant. Well done.

:09:57. > :10:06.This year, DFS have pledged to raise an absolute shed-load of money.

:10:07. > :10:07.Raising MONEY! I was talking about raising money!

:10:08. > :10:09.To kick-start the campaign, three teams of staff

:11:22. > :11:27.Children in Need is nothing without you. Every year your generosity

:11:28. > :11:31.enables us to help thousands of families all around the UK. Many of

:11:32. > :11:36.these families have been through desperate times and heartache yet

:11:37. > :11:40.she share their lives with us because they want others to be given

:11:41. > :11:45.the same support they have received. In this next film a wonderful mum

:11:46. > :11:50.and dad share their story with us and it is a heart-breaking one. But

:11:51. > :11:55.Bill see that even in the very saddest of times, we can make a

:11:56. > :12:02.difference. This is Harry, he was born on 26th

:12:03. > :12:06.April 2009. It was the best day of my life. After nine months of

:12:07. > :12:19.worrying he was in my arms and he was perfect.

:12:20. > :12:22.we noticed he had blisters under his fingernails.

:12:23. > :12:23.We ended up taking him to the local hospital.

:12:24. > :12:27.Harry was diagnosed with epydermolysis bullosa, or EB,

:12:28. > :12:32.There was a milk spot on his chin which became sore,

:12:35. > :12:37.Sufferers are often called "butterfly children",

:12:41. > :12:42.We could not handle him like a normal child.

:12:43. > :12:45.You could not pick him up under the armpits quickly,

:12:46. > :12:47.because you would shear the skin under the armpits.

:12:48. > :12:51.It was a lot of rolling and lifting with blankets and cushions.

:12:52. > :12:55.The disease also causes damage to the mouth and throat.

:12:56. > :12:59.Harry was given a tracheostomy to help him breathe.

:13:00. > :13:02.We walked in and you could see that he was crying,

:13:03. > :13:11.That... It broke my heart. Broke both of our hearts.

:13:12. > :13:16.Steph said to me, "He's never going to say mummy".

:13:17. > :13:19.Harry had the most severe form of the condition.

:13:28. > :13:36.In 2011, Harry had a little brother, Cody.

:13:37. > :13:44.we noticed with Cody straight away, there were blisters on his hands.

:13:45. > :13:52.With both Harry and Cody needing round-the-clock care,

:13:53. > :13:56.the family were introduced to Julia's House Children's Hospice.

:14:07. > :14:10.Children In Need funds wonderful nurses like Alex.

:14:11. > :14:16.they automatically say it must be really sad.

:14:17. > :14:20.But a children's hospice is completely different.

:14:21. > :14:23.You know in the back of your mind that one day,

:14:24. > :14:25.these children are going to die early.

:14:26. > :14:31.But we have fun with them in the short life they have got.

:14:32. > :14:33.We used to say to Harry, "We are going to Julia's house today".

:14:34. > :14:44.They put clingfilm around the boys' bandages

:14:45. > :14:49.so they could still get involved with messy play.

:14:50. > :14:51.They made a jelly island with jelly babies, on sweets,

:14:52. > :14:53.so it looked like they were on sun loungers.

:14:54. > :14:54.Little things like that, that they used to make, it was brilliant.

:14:55. > :14:59.They don't do their job just to pay the bills.

:15:00. > :15:01.They do it because they love what they do.

:15:02. > :15:04.They love the kids and helping families.

:15:05. > :15:09.There was just something about their characters

:15:10. > :15:12.you could not help fall in love with.

:15:13. > :15:14.They had a very special place in everybody's hearts.

:15:15. > :15:18.Harry absolutely adored him, loved him, helped feed him,

:15:19. > :15:23.He would go, "My baby," and show him off.

:15:24. > :15:27.He introduced him to everyone. "This is my brother".

:15:28. > :15:31.I did not understand how strong their bond was until they got ill.

:15:32. > :15:34.Earlier this year, Harry and Cody caught flu.

:15:35. > :15:37.For most children, this is not serious

:15:38. > :15:40.but for them, it was life-threatening.

:15:41. > :15:46.Doctors said there was nothing more they could do.

:15:47. > :15:50.He was taken to the bereavement suite at Julia's House.

:15:51. > :15:54.It is an amazing room, the most peaceful area of the house.

:15:55. > :16:00.It was literally seconds, then he passed away in Steph's arms.

:16:01. > :16:06.Harry died on 13th March. He was three years old.

:16:07. > :16:09.Two days later, his little brother Cody also passed away.

:16:10. > :16:16.The only comfort we have now is knowing they are together.

:16:17. > :16:19.If it was not for the donations, our children would not have had a chance

:16:20. > :16:23.to go to such an amazing place, and to meet such amazing people,

:16:24. > :16:36.and to feel loved, right up until the day they died.

:21:03. > :22:37.Children in Need effort from across the United Kingdom.

:22:38. > :24:09.CHEERING AND APPLAUSE Good work everyone. Terrific. Now,

:24:10. > :24:19.young Zoe. You may be a bit too tall for me, but I could happily co-host

:24:20. > :24:27.with you until the wee small hour. Ah. Maybe you are right. I know you

:24:28. > :24:31.are a mere slip of a girl and my triple espresso is only just kicking

:24:32. > :24:34.in. I could murder a drink this minute, so thank you for your

:24:35. > :24:38.endeavours tonight. Thank you for having me. It's been terrific.

:24:39. > :24:44.Brilliant. CHEERING Thanks darling. Come again,

:24:45. > :24:49.And thank you for all that you have given. Keep the money rolling in.

:24:50. > :25:00.Goodnight and goodbye. CHEERING

:25:01. > :25:09.Off she goes to her little trundle bed. As seasoned a professional as I

:25:10. > :25:14.am, particularly sea eded, I can't fly this ship alone. Who can fly a

:25:15. > :25:19.ship anyway? You have to sail the thing. Now it's time for my final

:25:20. > :25:28.co-host of the evening. Heavens to emergency provide, can it -- heavens

:25:29. > :25:54.to Mergatroyd, can it be a Brucie bonus this late in the proceedings?

:25:55. > :26:06.CHEERING Hi. Hello. Here he is. Thank you. If it isn't my ol'

:26:07. > :26:17.mucker, cool Radio 1 Jock nick Grimsdale. Thank you. You are

:26:18. > :26:22.welcome. Me and MC Grimmy go a long way back. We do. I remember when we

:26:23. > :26:29.worked together back in the day. When was it? Last year, Children in

:26:30. > :26:37.Need. Good times, borough. -- good times, bro. Yes, sick. He's doing an

:26:38. > :26:47.incredible job, Sir Terry Wogan. CHEERING

:26:48. > :26:56.He's been on TV for eight days now. AUDIENCE: Terry! Terry! Look, the

:26:57. > :27:03.contact details have changed in the corner. What? Have they been there

:27:04. > :27:09.all night? Yes, and they've changed. It has gone from a double to a

:27:10. > :27:16.triple whammy of ways to give. Tell all. You can still phone or give or

:27:17. > :27:26.visit the website, or you can donate by text.

:27:27. > :27:31.The full ?10 goes to Children in Need. All the terms and conditions

:27:32. > :27:38.are online. Bbc.co.uk/pudsey. That was long, but

:27:39. > :27:43.you did well. I'm knackered now. You're lucky, you've got all your

:27:44. > :27:52.own teeth. Coming up to feast your eyes on this.

:27:53. > :27:56.Coming up: Huge name for the Children in Need Rocks dancers.

:27:57. > :28:03.EastEnders light up Albert Square and more from our battle of the boy

:28:04. > :28:10.bands. CHEERING

:28:11. > :28:15.Well worth sticking around for. I don't know how you've done this, I'm

:28:16. > :28:20.feeling the burn and I've only just started, Terry. Try 34 years on the

:28:21. > :28:25.trot. It is enough to send anyone around the bend. Funny you should

:28:26. > :28:29.mention bends, like bends they are a bit like corners I always think and

:28:30. > :28:34.corners are what you find in rooms. Stay with me. Where could this be

:28:35. > :28:41.going? I'm trying to impress you with my link skills, to link to a

:28:42. > :28:43.very special edition of Room 101, featuring Frank Skinner quizzing

:28:44. > :28:51.some children. Was that good? That was a light

:28:52. > :28:54.programme link from about 1953. Work on the old links, sunshine. You got

:28:55. > :29:08.there in the end. I did. I'm Frank Skinner and welcome to

:29:09. > :29:12.a very special kids edition seven-year-old Alesandro

:29:13. > :29:20.from High Wycombe, ten-year-old Gruff from Llanelli and

:29:21. > :29:27.eight-year-old Tess from Preston. just to make sure that you're not

:29:28. > :29:34.just horrible people that say, "I hate this," and,

:29:35. > :29:36."I hate that," what do you like? I like playing, with my mum, ten...

:29:37. > :29:42.I mean, badminton. Yeah. Badminton's quite high up,

:29:43. > :29:44.isn't it? Yeah. Is that what it says when you

:29:45. > :29:50.stand by the wall, it just says, What's your special skill?

:29:51. > :29:57.My eyebrow. What about you, Gruff?

:29:58. > :30:05.What do you like? I like swimming. I'm the fastest in Wales

:30:06. > :30:07.in my age. Wow! But only my age, and there's

:30:08. > :30:12.not much people in Wales. And what do you like, Tess?

:30:13. > :30:16.I like burp-jitsu. I think we're going to

:30:17. > :30:31.start the show, Toothbrushing.

:30:32. > :30:39.What don't you like about it? So, you clean your teeth

:30:40. > :30:46.every morning and every night. Yes. Two minutes.

:30:47. > :30:54.I think that's very long. You'll never be able

:30:55. > :31:01.to work for the council. So, Gruff, what would he like

:31:02. > :31:08.to put in Room 101? Girls who don't want to

:31:09. > :31:12.go out with me. Have you actually asked out

:31:13. > :31:18.any girls? No, I've been too scared. You're the fastest swimmer

:31:19. > :31:22.for your age in Wales and you're frightened

:31:23. > :31:24.to ask a girl out. I know. What's the worst thing

:31:25. > :31:27.that could happen? She'll tell all her friends

:31:28. > :31:30.and they'll all make fun of me. And then all the boys

:31:31. > :31:34.will find out, probably, and then they'll probably

:31:35. > :31:36.make fun of him. Do you have a-a-a technique

:31:37. > :31:42.in mind? Get your coat, darling,

:31:43. > :31:48.it's your lucky night. but he completely forgot that

:31:49. > :31:59.we were going out after one day. So, what does Tess

:32:00. > :32:09.want to put in Room 101? Now, what is cool? Can you tell me?

:32:10. > :32:17.I don't know. That's helped a lot, Tess(!)

:32:18. > :32:24.Thank you very much. So, what do they do, your parents,

:32:25. > :32:26.when they're trying to be cool? It's just a bit that

:32:27. > :32:39.they're too old to do it. You know what?

:32:40. > :32:54.You're not going to win. OK. So, we've now come to the end

:32:55. > :32:57.and I have to do a quick decision. I think, toothbrushing,

:32:58. > :33:00.I know it can be a bit boring. But you don't want to end up like me

:33:01. > :33:04.with horrible yellow teeth. And I feel a bit sorry

:33:05. > :33:06.for your parents cos I think

:33:07. > :33:08.they're trying their best. I know parents

:33:09. > :33:10.can be a bit embarrassing But I had a hard, hard time

:33:11. > :33:14.wanting to ask out girls and then everyone laughing

:33:15. > :33:19.and all that, so I am going to put girls

:33:20. > :33:21.who don't want to go out with Gruff And that brings us

:33:22. > :33:33.to the end of this show. Thanks very much to Alesandro,

:33:34. > :33:37.to Gruff and to Tess, who are all here

:33:38. > :33:39.in aid of Children in Need. Don't forget,

:33:40. > :33:41.you can lend your support to the thousands of children in the

:33:42. > :33:47.UK who need your help by calling... ..and donating as much

:33:48. > :34:10.or as little as you can. So, children do say the funniest

:34:11. > :34:13.things, but they speak the truth! Being a mere child yourself,

:34:14. > :34:20.Nicholas, that is your full name, isn't it? It is. Good man. My name

:34:21. > :34:26.is Michael! What would you put into Room 101? Into Room 101, I'd

:34:27. > :34:30.probably put in a couple of sofas, a big telly, surround sound - a lad

:34:31. > :34:36.pad. You can come round. It could be nice. That is not the point. It is

:34:37. > :34:41.illuminating... I just want to have a nice room. If you were watching

:34:42. > :34:45.earlier, you would have seen McFly versus JLS in the Battle of the

:34:46. > :34:48.Boybands has been tense. We are going to do Round Two NOW! Let's do

:34:49. > :35:02.this. We have two boyband members here.

:35:03. > :35:12.Can we make some noise - Oritse from Team JLS and Tom from Team McFly?

:35:13. > :35:19.CHEERING AND APPLAUSE Nice(!) Loving McBusted. Thank you very much. I

:35:20. > :35:25.took a little nap because I got up early... During it? No. How have you

:35:26. > :35:30.been doing? Has this been good? Are you ready? It is quite tense. I

:35:31. > :35:39.don't want to give the game away. I want a death stare between you two.

:35:40. > :35:46.Hard to stare through those glasses. Rock, Paper, Scissors, isn't it? The

:35:47. > :35:50.scores are 3 to JLS and 3 to McFly. So it is all to play for as we go

:35:51. > :35:56.into Round Two. This next round is designed to test your reflexes, your

:35:57. > :36:03.finger strength and your strategic intelligence. OK. OK. I've got the

:36:04. > :36:09.fingers. Have you got strategic intelligence? He's got it. What is

:36:10. > :36:15.the name of this dechallenge? It is called -- what is the name of this

:36:16. > :36:19.challenge? It is called... Rock, Paper, Scissors! Rock, Paper,

:36:20. > :36:27.Scissors. You don't need to have a high IQ for that. You need the

:36:28. > :36:32.fingers. He's got the fingers. It's got quite severe consequences. Every

:36:33. > :36:37.time you lose a game, your fellow band-member will face a forfeit

:36:38. > :36:44.under one of these showbiz cloths. AUDIENCE: Ooh! We have go cloths,

:36:45. > :36:47.this is BBC One! We will play three games of Rock, Paper, Scissors and

:36:48. > :36:53.the winner gets a point for each game they win. Their band-mates face

:43:47. > :43:53.Come on, kids! Let's guess what else we need!

:43:54. > :44:00.It's a good thing we've got all this Children in Need clobber

:44:13. > :44:14.to all the wonderful staff and customers of ASDA.

:44:15. > :44:32.Wow! Thank you to everyone. Let's keep it going. This is what they

:44:33. > :44:40.have raised so far. That was an intense game over there. It was. And

:44:41. > :44:44.messy! Yes. Very messy. Right, our next film is about a brave family

:44:45. > :44:46.from Dudley in the West Midlands. Here is Hugh Dennis to tell us some

:44:47. > :44:50.more. But life can change

:44:51. > :44:55.in a split second. One minute everything is fine,

:44:56. > :44:56.and the next... I don't want to scare people,

:44:57. > :45:01.but the thing that gets me about this next film,

:45:02. > :45:04.is it could happen to any of us. I'd find a fraction of the strength

:45:05. > :45:12.shown by this father and his son. As a police officer, you learn to

:45:13. > :45:16.deal with seeing horrific scenes Nothing can possibly prepare you

:45:17. > :45:23.for seeing your son there. and Josh was out playing

:45:24. > :45:34.with Brandon, his step-brother, Brandon came running back home

:45:35. > :45:38.in an absolute fit of panic, There were sort of,

:45:39. > :45:48.15-20 people around him. He was lying on his back.

:45:49. > :45:52.His legs were round by his head. His mouth and nose

:45:53. > :45:55.were filled with blood. Josh accidentally veered his bike

:45:56. > :46:14.into the road, and into the path

:46:15. > :46:17.of an oncoming car. He had suffered severe brain

:46:18. > :46:21.injuries and was in a coma. Josh's family were told

:46:22. > :46:26.to prepare for the worst. You're just watching your child

:46:27. > :46:28.lying there asleep, on a heart monitor, with little

:46:29. > :46:32.or no progress that you can see. you just don't want to see your kid

:46:33. > :46:38.in that state. after 73 days in the coma,

:46:39. > :46:45.something incredible happened. I remember it clear as day.

:46:46. > :46:50.I was asleep on the bed next to him. And I just woke up

:46:51. > :46:55.to a voice saying, "Dad". I was lying on the side of his bed

:46:56. > :47:03.crying my eyes out. that he would be in a wheelchair

:47:04. > :47:15.for the rest of his life. But that's your first sort of sign

:47:16. > :47:18.that there something positive there, Josh left hospital and went to stay

:47:19. > :47:27.at The Children's Trust in Tadworth, with severe brain injuries

:47:28. > :47:35.and multiple disabilities. The first interaction he'd had

:47:36. > :47:44.with other people, and normality, is when he can go on the day-trips

:47:45. > :47:47.out from The Children's Trust. Your money funds days out,

:47:48. > :47:51.when children like Josh are facing the toughest challenge

:47:52. > :47:55.of their lives. For them to be able to relax

:47:56. > :47:59.and just have a bit of fun, and a bit of them-time

:48:00. > :48:01.and a bit of family time, is a massive part of their

:48:02. > :48:04.psychological rehabilitation. You can start to see, well,

:48:05. > :48:09.actually life is going to be good. Dark green and light green

:48:10. > :48:13.down the middle. OK. Josh had defied all odds.

:48:14. > :48:18.He's back in school, he's walking. And just out of the blue, one day

:48:19. > :48:24.he got on his bike, and off he rode. I sent it straight back

:48:25. > :48:28.to The Children's Trust and I said, Without all the hard work

:08:00. > :08:04.children. If you would like to donate, texts cost ?10 plus your

:08:05. > :08:07.standard network charge. Thank you Terry. If there was a checklist of

:08:08. > :08:11.required pop star skills you would have to master the following things

:08:12. > :08:17.if you want to be a credible pop star in 2013. You have to were

:08:18. > :08:23.sunglasses like this inside. Yeah, I look sick. You would have to create

:08:24. > :08:27.a controversial dance move, maybe a twerk like this. You would have to

:08:28. > :08:33.be hilarious and outrageous on social media. That's hilarious. And

:08:34. > :08:39.you have to have the ability to lip-synch really well. Can BBC's

:08:40. > :08:47.Greg James and Russell Kane rise to the challenge of the lip-synch duel?

:08:48. > :08:50.Normally they are best mates but for one night only they are going head

:09:35. > :09:40.Wet Wet, so we are ready. What more do you want? Why do we have to go on

:09:41. > :09:44.after boy bands? It is a letdown seeing us two. The like throwing a

:09:45. > :09:50.brick through a colourful window. For those of you watching and

:09:51. > :09:55.thinking, what's a lip-synch due tell - it is moving your mouth

:09:56. > :10:00.without making any noise while singing songs of your choosing? Are

:10:01. > :10:04.you feeling confident? Two people pretending to be you and you are

:10:05. > :10:09.weirdly both going to be great at this. How were the people

:10:10. > :10:14.practising, where they good? No. We've been practising a bit but we

:10:15. > :10:18.don't know what each other's done. I practised in the cab but it was hard

:10:19. > :10:23.to move. British people like to watch people fall over and fail.

:10:24. > :10:28.Exactly. They want it to be bad, but for you. It is late night, the you

:10:29. > :10:33.want something funny OK, we'll give you that. Funny and embarrassing. I

:10:34. > :10:38.like that. Every good duel needs a winner. Your fate lies in the hands

:10:39. > :10:46.of two expert judgeses who will have their eye glued to your lips. The

:10:47. > :10:59.judges are Sir Terry Wogan and Mr Tinie Tempah.

:11:00. > :11:07.CHEERING How are you, Sir? Are you good? Very

:11:08. > :11:15.good. A good jacket Tinie Tempah. You sit here Sir Terry. You've got

:11:16. > :11:17.paddles and all sorts. Your performances, it is time for

:11:18. > :11:36.underone. I want to say Tinie Tempah I love

:11:37. > :11:44.your records. And Sir Terry Wogan you are my broadcasting idol. I have

:11:45. > :11:48.to say I like you both immediately. OK. I love your books. Read them

:11:49. > :12:30.all. Greg, you are up first. # From the day we arrive on the

:13:16. > :13:26.# We'll find our place #

:13:27. > :13:55.CHEERING That was one of the most beautiful and moving things I've

:13:56. > :14:00.ever witnessed with. Thank you. You're wasted on the radio. You

:14:01. > :14:06.should be in Michael Buble the Musical. Did you like that It was

:14:07. > :14:15.one of the best things I've ever seen. Russell, you're up next. What

:14:16. > :14:31.are you doing? I'm doing Dirty by Kristina Aguilera.

:14:32. > :14:34.# Gimme some room I'm comin' through

:15:54. > :15:55.# Dancing getting just a little naughty

:15:56. > :16:18.Oh my God, that was incredible. Please send in money so that Russell

:16:19. > :16:23.will never do that again! Why were those maroon?

:16:24. > :16:27.CHEERING Lucky you. I walked into the dressing room and he was wearing

:16:28. > :16:33.them without anything else on earlier. All I could think about is

:16:34. > :16:38.how much you rehearsed that in your bedroom alone. It's not easy being

:16:39. > :16:48.single but I'm good at it. Time to raise the stakes. Here comes round

:16:49. > :16:54.two. Let's not forget although this is a

:16:55. > :17:04.duet it is still a duel and we need you to be focused 100% on

:17:05. > :17:09.outlip-synching each other. You have that and Tinie Tempah, you might

:17:10. > :17:16.know this one. In this song I'll be playing the part of Rita Ora, and

:17:17. > :17:26.that makes you Tinie Tempah. He's got me spot on!

:17:27. > :17:29.CHEERING Marvellous. Very life like. Very

:17:30. > :17:37.life like. # Nothing on

:17:38. > :18:33.I strut around # I do it big

:18:34. > :19:17.I shut it down That was really something. I don't

:19:18. > :19:21.know what's going on Gregory any more. It's too late. They have done

:19:22. > :19:25.all they can and now it's time for our judges to pass verdict. I'm so

:19:26. > :19:32.sorry, Tinie, the you had to witness that. It was very life-like. Spot

:19:33. > :19:39.on. It was a bit frightening. Like two Tinie Tempahs in the room. Sir

:19:40. > :19:45.Terry, you love a lip-synch duel, what do you think about those

:19:46. > :19:50.performances? Can you give us some feed-back before you vote? I could.

:19:51. > :19:56.It has rendered me largely speechless. Tinie, what did we think

:19:57. > :20:02.of that duel? I think it was good. Greggs' first performance very good.

:20:03. > :20:10.I love the catching of Pudsey, that was very clever. That was improve.

:20:11. > :20:19.You don't know that female from the crowd at all. She's not the

:20:20. > :20:25.choreographer. We don't know each other yet. I've got to give you

:20:26. > :20:30.points for the Tinie Tempah. That was pretty good. Judges, who is

:20:31. > :20:38.going to be the lip-synch champion tonight? Let's start with you, Sir

:20:39. > :20:44.Terry Wogan. Frank, I find it very hard to separate these two

:20:45. > :20:51.incredibly talented people. No, no, I don't mean it in any sycophantic

:20:52. > :21:00.or hyperbolic sense. I am staggered by your performances. Frighteningly

:21:01. > :21:08.real. I did buy both your books. And I am loth to separate you. I know

:21:09. > :21:15.that I'm sitting on the fence and I do work for Radio 2. So you can't

:21:16. > :21:21.choose between them? I'm middle of the road. It is like Sharon

:21:22. > :21:26.Osbourne, he's refusing to vote. He love both of them I'm like Sharon

:21:27. > :21:32.Osbourne in more ways than you will ever know! Tinie, this is all down

:21:33. > :21:40.to you. I'm nat passing the buck to Tinie. Maybe I will. Tinie, who is

:21:41. > :21:47.the champion, Gregory or Russell? Can you separate them? I can't.

:21:48. > :21:51.Those performances were stellar. Wonderful miming. So close to the

:21:52. > :21:57.original, there must be a future for both of you in the music business.

:21:58. > :22:03.In the lip-synch industry, absolutely. Any decisions or votes.

:22:04. > :22:10.Am I going to have to decide or take it to deadlock? You are not

:22:11. > :22:14.competent to decide. There's been shorter episodes of X Factor. We are

:22:15. > :22:19.going to have to push you Terry and Tinie. There's no need to start

:22:20. > :22:27.bullying, you know. Sorry, Sir Terry.

:22:28. > :22:37.We've had a consultation. Who are we going for, the lip-synch champion,

:22:38. > :22:41.Greg James or Russell Kane? Oh, Terry's gone for Greg. Tinie's gone

:22:42. > :22:48.for Russell, which means I have the deciding vote. This is tough. We are

:22:49. > :22:59.colleagues. But you know I love a maroon knicker. What are we going to

:23:00. > :23:04.do? I'm going to have to go with Radio 1 brother, Greg James is the

:23:05. > :23:08.champion! CHEERING AND APPLAUSE Sorry Russell,

:23:09. > :23:12.there's your trophy, Greg James. You might as well do a lap of honour.

:23:13. > :23:19.Well done to Greg and Russell for being such good sports. Let's give

:23:20. > :23:22.the boys and Tinie Tempah a Children in Need round of applause.

:23:23. > :23:27.CHEERING In our next film Gary Barlow is at a

:23:42. > :23:51.I like these shoes. My little four-year-old would like these.

:23:52. > :23:54.Jamie comes here and get to mix with the other children.

:23:55. > :23:59.You can bring her here and not worry about her?

:24:00. > :24:03.Absolutely. It is a very special place.

:24:04. > :24:11.His main condition is cerebral palsy.

:24:12. > :24:15.It is nice to come here and know he will be safe

:24:16. > :24:17.and well looked after and they care for him as much as we do.

:24:18. > :24:20.What we would do without them, I don't know.

:24:21. > :24:23.As you can see, he's a bit of a charmer,

:24:24. > :24:31.especially with blonde ladies. Is that right? Great!

:24:32. > :24:35.He says, "I am Gary Barlow". LAUGHTER

:24:36. > :24:44.He was nine weeks old when they discovered he had no immune system.

:24:45. > :24:51.He had to live in hospital for nearly two years.

:24:52. > :24:54.For him, all those years without meeting other children,

:24:55. > :25:04.and it gives our family a chance to be a family.

:25:05. > :25:19.How much does a place like this need?

:25:20. > :25:22.The majority of it is purely through donations.

:25:23. > :25:25.Without that funding, the families would have nowhere to go.

:25:26. > :25:28.How often is it open? At the moment, four days a week.

:25:29. > :25:41.The idea of somewhere like this closing cannot happen. It can't.

:25:42. > :25:45.I've got to be honest, I was not looking forward to today that much.

:25:46. > :25:53.It conjures up ideas of it being a place with no hope.

:25:54. > :25:56.I have actually experienced the total opposite.

:25:57. > :25:59.I think the children we have met are inspirational.

:26:00. > :26:03.Their parents are fighters, people getting on with life.

:26:04. > :26:11.I look at somewhere like this and I am shocked, in a way,

:26:12. > :26:14.to find out how heavily they rely on donations.

:26:15. > :26:19.It is up to us, to you out there, to be as generous as you can.

:26:20. > :26:25.When you see these faces, it makes it real, it really does.

:26:26. > :26:42.CHEERING AND APPLAUSE Thank you Gary. Children's hospices

:32:27. > :32:28.at me? Stop looking at me

:32:29. > :32:38.with that face, will you? I mean, how are you supposed

:32:39. > :32:40.to make a recovery when you've got that putrid old

:32:41. > :32:45.rotting boat looking at you? if I have to look at her much

:32:46. > :32:51.longer. Oi, love. Close them

:32:52. > :32:55.curtains, will you? My dinner will be here in a minute

:32:56. > :32:57.and don't make me look at that when I've got to eat,

:32:58. > :33:00.for Gawd's sake. Mrs Taylor? There have been

:33:01. > :33:05.a number of complaints about you, That's the heart monitor you

:33:06. > :33:16.requested. You're going to be fine,

:33:17. > :33:20.Mrs Taylor. Oof. Here she is!

:33:21. > :33:27.It's me little Chantelle. She's a good girl.

:33:28. > :33:30.Oh, you got my dinner, darling? She's got me dinner. She didn't have

:33:31. > :33:33.to get my dinner, darling. You've got better things to do

:33:34. > :33:35.than running round, I'm much obliged to you for

:33:36. > :33:40.getting... Where's me beans? She shouldn't be allowed to get

:33:41. > :33:50.people's dinners. I'm going to leave you

:33:51. > :33:52.with Chantelle, Mrs Taylor. How are you feeling today,

:33:53. > :33:57.Mrs Taylor? You've come up to see me?

:33:58. > :34:07.I've come up to see you. I'm better now I've see you,

:34:08. > :34:16.darling. All I need is to see your beautiful

:34:17. > :34:18.little face. So what did you bring me? Just what

:34:19. > :34:28.you asked for - large cod and chips. I mean,

:34:29. > :34:44.once you get over how short he is. It's all right, son. You can

:34:45. > :34:55.say it now. No-one cares.

:34:56. > :34:58.They're all gay, ain't they? Hello, Mrs Taylor.

:34:59. > :35:08.Oh, here's me chap! He saved me life. Saved me life,

:35:09. > :35:14.didn't you? What a surgeon! You brought me back from the brink,

:35:15. > :35:17.didn't you, love? Yeah. Could have spread, though,

:35:18. > :35:26.couldn't it? The good news is that you're

:35:27. > :35:31.fine to go home. Oh! Do you hear that, love?

:35:32. > :35:35.Oh, I can go home! Well, if you say I can go,

:35:36. > :35:39.I can go home then. Cos you know what... He knows what

:35:40. > :35:41.he's talking about, this one. He wants to sling me

:35:42. > :35:55.out on the street? It's OK. Oh, that's all right,

:35:56. > :36:04.darling. That's only me bedpan. Nan, shall we get out of here?

:36:05. > :36:12.No, son. No fear. I've been paying my

:36:13. > :36:14.taxes 50 years, love. and all the toilet roll you can

:36:15. > :36:26.put into an overnight bag. No, love, I shall be in here

:36:27. > :36:29.for at least another fortnight. There are people in real need of

:36:30. > :36:58.hospitalisation who need this bed. Here to explain why she's such a

:36:59. > :37:01.huge supporter of Children in Need it is that lovely judge of Strictly,

:37:02. > :37:08.Darcey Bussell. As a parent, you'll do anything

:37:09. > :37:10.to protect your child. But, sadly, there are times when

:37:11. > :37:13.you can't help and you're powerless. In this next film, a wonderful

:37:14. > :37:16.family tells us how they coped with a situation

:37:17. > :37:19.that every parent dreads and how a project

:37:20. > :37:21.funded by your donations I remember being presented

:37:22. > :37:37.with these two babies The idea of twins

:37:38. > :37:41.was just something special. And that's one of the reasons

:37:42. > :37:50.why they found it so difficult when they had to be apart

:37:51. > :37:53.for such a long period of time In April 2010, four days after this

:37:54. > :38:00.photo was taken, Darcey became unwell

:38:01. > :38:06.and was taken to hospital. "It's either a virus

:38:07. > :38:13.or it's leukaemia." So, we were left there,

:38:14. > :38:19.just sort of like with that thought. And he came back in

:38:20. > :38:22.and he just said, "Unfortunately..." and that's

:38:23. > :38:25.kind of the last thing I could hear, cos that was when our kind of world

:38:26. > :38:29.fell apart. Within just 24 hours,

:38:30. > :38:35.Darcey had started chemotherapy. The medicine made her very tired.

:38:36. > :38:41.She lost the use of her legs. And then she started

:38:42. > :38:45.to lose her hair. I remember a couple of times

:38:46. > :38:48.having to hoover her bed, her bedding and her pillow

:38:49. > :38:50.before she got in it because it was just

:38:51. > :38:53.absolutely covered in hair. that I would hardly get

:38:54. > :38:59.two words out of her. And then Harrison would arrive

:39:00. > :39:03.and he just lifted her completely. Darcey... Darcey...

:39:04. > :39:10.It completely becomes your life. Absolutely.

:39:11. > :39:13.It takes over everything. You can't...you can't go anywhere

:39:14. > :39:18.or do normal things. They couldn't go to soft play

:39:19. > :39:22.any more, and that was something

:39:23. > :39:26.that they always loved doing. You kind of find yourself

:39:27. > :39:29.at certain times feeling really low and thinking,

:39:30. > :39:32."My daughter's got cancer." the Parents Association

:39:33. > :39:46.for Seriously Ill Children. They offer support

:39:47. > :39:49.and organise fun family days out for children going through

:39:50. > :39:53.a tough and scary time. Every other family there's kind of

:39:54. > :39:56.going through the same thing. So, you know,

:39:57. > :39:58.your daughter's got no hair, nobody's going to be looking at her

:39:59. > :40:01.in a strange way and asking questions

:40:02. > :40:04.cos there are lots of other families with children

:40:05. > :40:06.in the same circumstance. After a two-year battle with cancer,

:40:07. > :40:12.Darcy is now in remission. They've got a very special bond

:40:13. > :40:20.that a lot of people never have. They might go totally different ways

:40:21. > :40:24.but they'll always have each other. It was, like, sad, because she...

:40:25. > :40:30.I couldn't play with her any more. And how do you feel now? Happy.

:40:31. > :40:38.Because I can see my brother again. is perhaps a little bit tighter

:40:39. > :40:47.for just that little bit longer. And we feel very lucky that

:40:48. > :40:53.we'd got to the end, we'd made it. Tonight, there are thousands of

:40:54. > :40:56.children battling serious illness. You can be there to support them

:42:45. > :42:49.Something like that. Maybe... I can read a clock. We can do it. We can

:42:50. > :42:54.push it to the absolute limit. I think we can. Help us out. With you

:42:55. > :43:00.by my side we can do this. We can do this, Terry.
