0:00:16 > 0:00:24Derek Brockway can't resist a good work, especially when it is for
0:00:25 > 0:00:29Children In Need. And ten choirs from around the UK
0:00:30 > 0:00:37join together in song including our Welsh Choir in the arena.
0:00:38 > 0:00:40Now Llandudno is a lovely seaside town on the North
0:00:41 > 0:00:41Wales coast, it truly is a jewel set in a silver sea, but recently it was
0:00:42 > 0:00:46the scene of a breaking news story - here's Jamie Owen.
0:00:47 > 0:00:56Good evening and welcome to Wales Today. A yellow bear has been
0:00:57 > 0:01:02spotted on a tram in Llandudno. We will have a full report.
0:01:03 > 0:01:08Good evening and welcome to the programme. A mysterious yellow bear
0:01:09 > 0:01:13has been sighted in the seaside town of Llandudno in Conwy. Live to our
0:01:14 > 0:01:18reporter on the scene. Thanks, Jamie. It was around 10.00 this
0:01:19 > 0:01:22morning when the first reports came in of an injured bear spotted in
0:01:23 > 0:01:27parts of Llandudno. This picture appeared on the social media and
0:01:28 > 0:01:33later on, this shaky footage emerged and the bear seemed to be waving to
0:01:34 > 0:01:38passers-by. What was it like? There was a big bear and he was walking
0:01:39 > 0:01:44around waving to people and shaking their hand. He didn't speak, just
0:01:45 > 0:01:48mostly waving. Thank you. The sightings carried on throughout the
0:01:49 > 0:01:52day. Then, one of our reporters spotted the bear getting on to the
0:01:53 > 0:01:57tram. Here is the exclusive report. It was just before 2.00pm that we
0:01:58 > 0:02:03captured this amazing footage of the giant yellow bear. He appeared to
0:02:04 > 0:02:09pay his fare and carried on. We managed to catch up with him. Excuse
0:02:10 > 0:02:15me. What are you doing here? Are you hurt? What is your name? The large
0:02:16 > 0:02:25bear left the scene and his whereabouts remains a mystery.
0:02:26 > 0:02:28We are now at Ysgol Tudno. As the choir rehearse, all the talk is of
0:02:29 > 0:02:36that strange, yellow bear. Nobody is sure where he will appear next.
0:02:37 > 0:02:39Thank you. With new sightings being reported all over Wales, we will
0:02:40 > 0:02:46keep you posted on this breaking news story. It is time for the
0:02:47 > 0:02:55weather forecast now with Derek Brockway.
0:02:56 > 0:02:57And thanks to the pupils of Ysgol Tudno who helped us make
0:02:58 > 0:02:59As you saw there, they are part of our Children In Need Choir, who
0:03:00 > 0:03:03later on will be singing with our special guests Richard and Adam.
0:03:04 > 0:03:12How you doing? Very well. How are you? Very good. You are local lads.
0:03:13 > 0:03:17How does it feel to be here? It is amazing to be here in Llandudno and
0:03:18 > 0:03:22to be doing it for Children In Need. We love singing and to do it for
0:03:23 > 0:03:27Children In Need is fantastic. It is just up the road. Not far at all.
0:03:28 > 0:03:31Like Adam said, I can only say again, it has been amazing to be
0:03:32 > 0:03:39here. Thanks for having us on. Please, everyone, support Children

0:08:36 > 0:08:58Richard and Adam with When You Believe. A film now about a charity
0:08:59 > 0:09:04that receives funding from Children In Need. It is a joyful, happy
0:09:05 > 0:09:10place. It is a hub for not just the childcare, but the family itself. It
0:09:11 > 0:09:16offers day-care for children with a range of conditions, such as autism,
0:09:17 > 0:09:23Down's syndrome and some with life-limiting illnesses. Your
0:09:24 > 0:09:27donations pay for Paula, the all-round mother hen and full-time
0:09:28 > 0:09:31outreach worker. Sometimes I see parents for the first time. They
0:09:32 > 0:09:35come here and they are desperate, they just want the best for their
0:09:36 > 0:09:45child. And they want their child to be able to be happy and feel safe
0:09:46 > 0:09:50and secure. Clever boy. Things were really difficult when Tristan was
0:09:51 > 0:09:54first born. Without the support of Y Bont we wouldn't be where we are
0:09:55 > 0:10:01today. The way the staff are to the children, it is fantastic. Can you
0:10:02 > 0:10:04see a red tomato? For Jackson, Y Bont makes a massive difference.
0:10:05 > 0:10:12Before he came here, he couldn't walk. He didn't talk, he wasn't very
0:10:13 > 0:10:17confident. He's flourished. He is a completely different boy. What you
0:10:18 > 0:10:27been doing? My daughter is called Bethany. She came to Y Bont when he
0:10:28 > 0:10:31was nine-months-old. Paula was so reassuring, I was so anxious. She is
0:10:32 > 0:10:40such a lovely person. Come and see me again soon because you have grown
0:10:41 > 0:10:46so much. Paula is Y Bont, Y Bont is Paula. In Paula's 17 years here, she
0:10:47 > 0:10:50has helped 2,000 families. I have been privileged to have worked with
0:10:51 > 0:10:57so many wonderful children over the years. They touch your heart. They
0:10:58 > 0:11:02really do. And to watch them reach their goals, you can't put a price
0:11:03 > 0:11:07on that. Paula has a very big heart. And not just for the children, but
0:11:08 > 0:11:11the staff, the parents, everybody. She is amazing. She does such a
0:11:12 > 0:11:15fabulous job. I have learnt everything from Paula. You can
0:11:16 > 0:11:20always go to Paula about anything. We all love Paula. She is lovely. We
0:11:21 > 0:11:25love her. She just is so proud of each and every one of those
0:11:26 > 0:11:30children. To me, this isn't a job, it's a way of life. You can help
0:11:31 > 0:11:40other children smile. Thank you. To give online now go
0:11:41 > 0:11:54to bbc.co.uk/pudsey, or you can donate ?10
0:11:55 > 0:11:55by texting DONATE to 70710. Texts will cost ?10 plus
0:11:56 > 0:11:57your standard network message charge, and the whole ?10 will go to
0:11:58 > 0:11:58BBC Children In Need. You must be 16 or over and please
0:11:59 > 0:12:01ask the bill payer's permission. For full terms and conditions,
0:12:02 > 0:12:18and more information, Now we are off to the Children In
0:12:19 > 0:12:20Need studio in Elstree. This is Ellie Goulding singing Army.
0:12:21 > 0:12:28# I'm a pain, I'm a child I'm afraid
0:12:29 > 0:12:37# I know that we don't look like much
0:12:38 > 0:12:46# Matter of fact I always thought you were too cool for me
0:12:47 > 0:12:51# All the nights we've been drunk on the floor
0:12:52 > 0:12:59# We both know what they say about us
0:13:00 > 0:13:01# But they don't stand a chance because
0:13:02 > 0:13:27# Dark times, you can always find the bright side
0:13:28 > 0:13:31# I'm amazed by the things that you would sacrifice
0:13:32 > 0:13:35# How you cringe when you sing out of tune
0:13:36 > 0:13:43# We both know what they say about us
0:13:44 > 0:13:46# But they don't stand a chance because
0:13:47 > 0:14:56# We both know what they say about us
0:14:57 > 0:16:11We're looking at the best bits of Children In Need,
0:16:12 > 0:16:14including what we got up to here at Venue Cymru in Llandudno.
0:16:15 > 0:16:19Now if you were watching BBC One on Thursday night,
0:16:20 > 0:16:22there was a Welsh invasion in north London with an entertainment
0:16:23 > 0:16:28Well, I was lucky enough to get a backstage pass.
0:16:29 > 0:16:36We are in the heart of London, Wembley Stadium is behind me. To my
0:16:37 > 0:16:44right is the Civic Centre library. The main reason is because Wembley
0:16:45 > 0:16:48Arena will be playing host to two Welsh legends and raising money.
0:16:49 > 0:16:52What are you looking forward to seeing tonight?
0:16:53 > 0:16:58Tom Jones. I been living there 28 years, still
0:16:59 > 0:17:06a Valley girl. Do you know any Tom Jones songs?
0:17:07 > 0:17:12No! By the end of tonight, you will. To touch the green, green grass of
0:17:13 > 0:17:18home. This is our exclusive look backstage at Rob Brydon's tribute to
0:17:19 > 0:17:23search Tom Jones. We are singing if you songs. I am
0:17:24 > 0:17:27starting to talk like him. Even thinking about him, you start to
0:17:28 > 0:17:34talk like him. Audience, good you applaud again as
0:17:35 > 0:17:44if we have just finished? Tom Jones!
0:17:45 > 0:17:47OK, Tom Jones, thank your for your time, are you looking forward to
0:17:48 > 0:17:58Children In Need? Yes. Rob Brydon. Welsh night.
0:17:59 > 0:18:03Lovely. It is great, for a very worthy
0:18:04 > 0:18:07cause. He is very funny. I like to think of it.
0:18:08 > 0:18:17And I am very funny as well, it is Welsh humour.
0:18:18 > 0:18:21I was 50 this year. You were 100. The new record is fantastic. A lot
0:18:22 > 0:18:26of people, they don't really care we are recording a TV programme.
0:18:27 > 0:18:33Just carry on talking. There he goes!
0:18:34 > 0:18:39He has done it again. Now, the story of another amazing
0:18:40 > 0:18:44journey for Children In Need. The team have hit the road again along
0:18:45 > 0:18:49with six young riders supported by a Children In Need project, their
0:18:50 > 0:18:55toughest challenge as they peddle 417 miles from lands end.
0:18:56 > 0:19:02To the east end. An incredible and challenging journey.
0:19:03 > 0:19:07And, for all six, and experience they will never forget.
0:19:08 > 0:19:13Are we ready? Tonight, the finish line is in sight.
0:19:14 > 0:19:17One of the highlights was when the team arrived in Elstree and Matt
0:19:18 > 0:19:27Baker and his fellow riders were greeted on stage by Fearne Cotton.
0:19:28 > 0:19:32It is so good to see you. I have been watching the whole story play
0:19:33 > 0:19:37out. And it has been incredible, I am so excited to meet you, so
0:19:38 > 0:19:49overwhelmed with what you have done. Let us get that total right now.
0:19:50 > 0:19:54It is coming up there. This was just the first of some
0:19:55 > 0:19:59amazing totals in a record-breaking year of fundraising. Still to come
0:20:00 > 0:20:07tonight. Gracing the stage at Venue Cymru,
0:20:08 > 0:20:11Hannah Grace. Derek Brockway joins a ramble for Children In Need.
0:20:12 > 0:20:16And the maddest four minutes of TV you will see this year. For now,
0:20:17 > 0:20:18back to Elstree. Singing Way Back Home, the legend
0:20:19 > 0:20:21himself, Rod Stewart. # I was just a little boy
0:20:22 > 0:20:28without a care # I remember looking up
0:20:29 > 0:20:34and seeing you there # I never wandered too far
0:20:35 > 0:20:41from your side # Cos all the love I needed
0:20:42 > 0:20:48was there in your eyes # We grew up in a war-torn city
0:20:49 > 0:20:55with a cast-iron wheel # Broken lives, darkened streets
0:20:56 > 0:21:02and twisted steel # But around our house
0:21:03 > 0:21:08the sky seemed so blue # And on a wing and a prayer
0:21:09 > 0:21:15we just muddled through # And we always kept the laughter
0:21:16 > 0:21:22and the smile upon our face # In that good old-fashioned British
0:21:23 > 0:21:29way with pride and faultless grace # I shall never forget
0:21:30 > 0:21:34those childhood days # Tell me what it was
0:21:35 > 0:21:54that made our family strong # As our defiant little island
0:21:55 > 0:22:01weathered the storm # There never seemed enough
0:22:02 > 0:22:08for my plate # You said be grateful
0:22:09 > 0:22:17Say grace, don?t complain # How can I ever thank you
0:22:18 > 0:22:23for the lessons that I've learnt? # And the precious warmth and
0:22:24 > 0:22:29comfort that I felt at every turn # And for those who
0:22:30 > 0:22:32sacrificed their lives # I hear your stories
0:22:33 > 0:22:53of rage and burning skies # And a nation
0:22:54 > 0:23:00with its back against the wall # And we always kept the laughter
0:23:01 > 0:23:20and the smile upon our face # In that good old-fashioned British
0:23:21 > 0:23:27way with pride and faultless grace # I shall never forget
0:23:28 > 0:23:31those childhood days Welcome back to Llandudno
0:23:32 > 0:24:08in beautiful North Wales, and with me is a man who lives
0:24:09 > 0:24:24about 15 minutes from here, How are you? Very good. Nice to see
0:24:25 > 0:24:29you in North Wales. Only five hours away, I am a bit jet
0:24:30 > 0:24:35lagged. All in the name of charity. You have made a film for us?
0:24:36 > 0:24:38I went to meet some inspirational people and some wonderful horses.
0:24:39 > 0:24:52Say no more, let us watch that film. High upon the hills here, I am
0:24:53 > 0:24:57meeting the owners, Lindsay and Ian, and their horse.
0:24:58 > 0:25:02I have always had horses and loved riding, and I believe it is very
0:25:03 > 0:25:07therapeutic. I want you to meet a young lady who
0:25:08 > 0:25:13has been coming here for three years.
0:25:14 > 0:25:17A long illness had a profound effect on her, she stopped going to school
0:25:18 > 0:25:23and missed out on a lot of her childhood.
0:25:24 > 0:25:30I was in and out of hospital when I was 11. I missed a lot of school, so
0:25:31 > 0:25:34I didn't have many friends. I had no confidence.
0:25:35 > 0:25:38I didn't talk to anyone. Her mum remembers a shy, troubled girl, who
0:25:39 > 0:25:42struggled with her illness. She would go to the hospital at the
0:25:43 > 0:25:45very beginning and would not talk to anybody.
0:25:46 > 0:25:49The nurses had to talk through me or her father, she would not answer.
0:25:50 > 0:25:55Regular contact with these horses has made a huge difference.
0:25:56 > 0:26:00If we are confident, the horse will be confident. A young person who is
0:26:01 > 0:26:04nervous and becomes confident gets a much better experience from the
0:26:05 > 0:26:08horse which will respond to them. It can be quite magical, the
0:26:09 > 0:26:11transformation. She is a much happier teenager now
0:26:12 > 0:26:15and her mum thinks without the farm things would have turned out very
0:26:16 > 0:26:20differently. I think she would be in a very bad
0:26:21 > 0:26:25place. She wasn't able to cope, to come out of her room on some days.
0:26:26 > 0:26:30Mum would do everything for me. Now, I can talk to people and have a lot
0:26:31 > 0:26:35more confidence. I don't rely on my mum now. I don't
0:26:36 > 0:26:39know where we would be without the place.
0:26:40 > 0:26:44It is just fantastic. To continue helping young people, we need more
0:26:45 > 0:26:50donations because this farmer arise on funding from Children In Need --
0:26:51 > 0:26:55this farm relies. To think these horses and people can
0:26:56 > 0:27:06change lives in such a positive way. Your money is making a difference.
0:27:07 > 0:27:11Right here in Wales. Animals changing people's lies, what
0:27:12 > 0:27:15did you take from that experience? It was a wonderfully humbling
0:27:16 > 0:27:19experience for me. As a big, strong farmer with three
0:27:20 > 0:27:24healthy children, it gives you a concept of what was going on with
0:27:25 > 0:27:29these children. It can be worse than what we saw.
0:27:30 > 0:27:34There is a lot more. We have shown this positive story
0:27:35 > 0:27:38but there is worse than that. Just one great example of your
0:27:39 > 0:27:41generous donations helping Children In Need right here in Wales.
0:27:42 > 0:27:46Thank you very much. To give online now go

0:28:07 > 0:28:21musicians coming out of Wales at the moment, and our next guest
0:28:22 > 0:28:24has got a really amazing voice. Singing Meant to be Kind,
0:28:25 > 0:28:53this is Hannah Grace. Tell me how to be like you
0:28:54 > 0:29:01# Live my life as someone new # 'Cos every day the same pain
0:29:02 > 0:29:09begins to feel OK # But every night I close my eyes
0:29:10 > 0:29:13and it's there again # When you're down on the floor
0:29:14 > 0:29:21# Cut to the bone # Keep on breaking when you're broke
0:29:22 > 0:29:30# When never heals # It just seems to make it worse
0:29:31 > 0:29:37# Yeah it's gotta make you wonder # How it's supposed to make you
0:29:38 > 0:29:45stronger # I guess
0:29:46 > 0:29:51stronger # For good things only come with
0:29:52 > 0:30:00time # But every day the same pain begins
0:30:01 > 0:30:10to feel OK # But every night I close my eyes
0:30:11 > 0:30:12and it's there again # When you're down on the floor
0:30:13 > 0:30:19# Cut to the bone # Keep on breaking when you're broke
0:30:20 > 0:30:29# When time never heals # It just gets to make it worse
0:30:30 > 0:30:34# Oh it's gotta make you wonder # How it's supposed to make you
0:30:35 > 0:30:40stronger # When all you feel is cold
0:30:41 > 0:30:50# You don't know what you're feeling # When all you need is gone
0:30:51 > 0:30:55# There's nothing left but needing # You can't walk in the light
0:30:56 > 0:30:59# You're scared of the dark # Can't be who you were
0:31:00 > 0:31:03# Can't be who you are # No-one wants to know you
0:31:04 > 0:31:06# Nobody knows # When you're down on the floor
0:31:07 > 0:31:12# Cut to the bone # Keep on breaking when you're broke
0:31:13 > 0:31:23# When time never heals # It just seems to make it worse
0:31:24 > 0:31:28# Oh it's gotta make you wonder # How it's supposed to make you
0:31:29 > 0:31:36stronger # It's gotta make you wonder
0:31:37 > 0:31:38# How it's supposed to make you stronger. #
0:31:39 > 0:31:48Now it wouldn't be Children In Need without Derek Brockway.
0:31:49 > 0:31:52Before that, he impersonated the First Minister,
0:31:53 > 0:31:55but this year he wanted to support Children In Need by doing something
0:31:56 > 0:32:01that is close to his heart - walking in the Welsh countryside.
0:32:02 > 0:32:08It's a bright October morning and we are all meeting up here at the Red
0:32:09 > 0:32:11Cow Pub, raising money for Children In Need. Everyone ready? Yes! Let's
0:32:12 > 0:32:22go. Our walk starts on the dam at the
0:32:23 > 0:32:28end of the reservoir. If you are tall enough to see over the wall, it
0:32:29 > 0:32:32is not a bad view. This walk is one of many Children In Need rambles
0:32:33 > 0:32:37inspired by the Countryfile TV programme. You organised this walk.
0:32:38 > 0:32:40Who are all these people? There's a bunch of young farmers and farmers
0:32:41 > 0:32:46themselves and we have the ability to do this sort of thing and enjoy
0:32:47 > 0:32:52the views. Why not do it for a worthwhile charity like Children In
0:32:53 > 0:32:56Need? Also taking in the views, are some ambassadors from Mencap Cymru.
0:32:57 > 0:33:01They receive funding from Children In Need to help them get out more
0:33:02 > 0:33:05and make new friends. Sian Davies is from Mencap Cymru. Have you seen a
0:33:06 > 0:33:11big change in the people who have become ambassadors? Absolutely. Just
0:33:12 > 0:33:15really subtly to begin with, but in terms of confidence, their belief,
0:33:16 > 0:33:17their worth, and their relationships with each other, their families as
0:33:18 > 0:33:21well as they develop that independence. Ash is one of the
0:33:22 > 0:33:32Mencap ambassadors. What is it like being an ambassador? Yeah. Just be
0:33:33 > 0:33:36yourself? Yeah. You want people to respect you? Yes. What sort of
0:33:37 > 0:33:44things do you do being an ambassador, do you have lots of fun?
0:33:45 > 0:33:48Yeah, horse riding, drinking. That is all the things I like to do! I
0:33:49 > 0:33:54wonder if there are any horses around here today. Way up the field.
0:33:55 > 0:33:59Up the field. Wild horses. You know, this walk has been just right for
0:34:00 > 0:34:03everyone. Dogs, children, and even old crocs like me. I have had a
0:34:04 > 0:34:06great morning, walking in the fresh Welsh air, raising money for Pudsey.
0:34:07 > 0:34:14Right, let's carry on walking. And if you would like to add

0:51:12 > 0:51:54# Follow every rainbow Till you find your dream. #
0:51:55 > 0:52:07I always standard by the people we meet on days like, families coping
0:52:08 > 0:52:12with tough times, and fantastic project workers who want to help
0:52:13 > 0:52:17others. In the form you are about to see, we meet a project worker called
0:52:18 > 0:52:18Andy, there to help a family through their darkest days. He
0:52:19 > 0:52:30used music to do that. This is my brother's pyjamas,
0:52:31 > 0:52:41someone very clever them together a monkey.
0:52:42 > 0:52:47We didn't need him anymore. In January 20 13th, Dylan's brother
0:52:48 > 0:52:55Tyler was diagnosed with a rare neurological disease, infantile
0:52:56 > 0:52:58dystrophy, there is no cure. To be told that actually he is going
0:52:59 > 0:53:04to die, it was a tough day. Over the following months, Dylan
0:53:05 > 0:53:07and his parents could only watch He couldn't walk and he was
0:53:08 > 0:53:14struggling to feed himself. And there came a point where he
0:53:15 > 0:53:17wasn't able to sit up any more, We needed to spend
0:53:18 > 0:53:26as much time with him and make his life as happy as possible and make
0:53:27 > 0:53:31lots of lovely memories together. Hi, Dylan!
0:53:32 > 0:53:33How are you doing? We're being filmed today, Andy.
0:53:34 > 0:53:39I know! Andy is a music therapist from
0:53:40 > 0:53:47a charity called Thomas's Fund. He first visited the house 16 months
0:53:48 > 0:53:52ago, when Tyler was still alive. He was just such a precious,
0:53:53 > 0:54:01lovely boy. Every time I come to visit Dylan,
0:54:02 > 0:54:04Tyler is the reason. So Andy would set up the chimes
0:54:05 > 0:54:17and Tyler would be lying in my arms, and he moved his arm and
0:54:18 > 0:54:21it would brush across the chimes. He did, didn't he?
0:54:22 > 0:54:29He used his hand. Those times I spent with Tyler
0:54:30 > 0:54:40on my lap, with Andy, Just over a year ago, Tyler finally
0:54:41 > 0:54:48lost his battle with the disease. The doctor came and shone
0:54:49 > 0:55:03a light into his eyes and he said, "I'm so sorry, he's not alive any
0:55:04 > 0:55:06more," and then my dad carried him out of the house, and he got put
0:55:07 > 0:55:16into this van and was taken away. After Tyler passed away,
0:55:17 > 0:55:19Andy got in touch and he asked if Dylan would like to have
0:55:20 > 0:55:23some music sessions with him. When I see Dylan with Andy,
0:55:24 > 0:55:29I just see happiness. With your donations,
0:55:30 > 0:55:33we'd like to help more families It's only afterwards that you
0:55:34 > 0:55:43realise just how important those times were and why something
0:55:44 > 0:55:46like Thomas's Fund has such an important part to play in the
0:55:47 > 0:55:52lives of terminally ill children. He is still alive,
0:55:53 > 0:56:01he's just moved countries. But that's not the case,
0:56:02 > 0:56:13because he's really gone to heaven. To give online now go
0:56:14 > 0:56:21to bbc.co.uk/pudsey, or you can donate ?10
0:56:22 > 0:56:28by texting DONATE to 70710. Here is Terry Wogan still making an
