0:16:03 > 0:16:04What?
0:16:04 > 0:16:08Well, I assumed that I'd get...
0:16:08 > 0:16:10..younger.
0:16:10 > 0:16:18I am younger!
0:16:18 > 0:16:21APPLAUSE
0:16:21 > 0:16:23How good does that look!
0:16:23 > 0:16:26If I had a Tardis I would get in it right now, go 38 days forward

0:16:30 > 0:16:31of Brussels sprouts!

0:16:44 > 0:16:47Now all over the country people are doing their thing to help raise
0:16:47 > 0:16:50money for Children in Need, so let's go and find out what's
0:16:50 > 0:16:51happening in your area.
0:17:18 > 0:17:22Live from the Hogwarts School of witchcraft and wizardry, welcome to

0:17:38 > 0:17:43and much money being raised four children in the. Just take a look at
0:17:43 > 0:17:47this place. It's a piece of movie history. It played a key role in the
0:17:47 > 0:17:51Harry Potter movies that were filmed here in Hertfordshire. If you take a
0:17:51 > 0:17:56look around you can see that people are really getting into the Hogwarts
0:17:56 > 0:18:04spirit. I spy some Harry Potter there and of course it's feeling
0:18:04 > 0:18:08very, very festive. But tonight, it's all about Children in Need even
0:18:08 > 0:18:10invited some of the fundraisers from in and around London for a very
0:18:10 > 0:18:15special evening. Among them is 13-year-old Jack. Hello, Jack. You
0:18:15 > 0:18:20walked in your Pudsey onesie from your home to Wembley Stadium. Tell

0:18:33 > 0:18:41£200. How much have you raised? We've managed to raise £1500, which
0:18:41 > 0:18:43is insane. APPLAUSE
0:18:43 > 0:18:47Understandably we've got proud mum Linda next to you. Linda, how
0:18:47 > 0:18:52challenging was this for him?It was very challenging because Jack was
0:18:52 > 0:18:55born with cerebral palsy and he's never been able to walk very far, to
0:18:55 > 0:19:00so to do the two miles today was such an achievement for him.
0:19:00 > 0:19:05Congratulations, thank you for being here. Have a great evening. I know
0:19:05 > 0:19:09that Jack is a fan of Harry Potter and I'm going to hazard a guess that
0:19:09 > 0:19:13these guys are as well and judging by the leggings here, I'm going to
0:19:13 > 0:19:17go so far as to say super fans, is that right? You off from Royal

0:19:27 > 0:19:33the quiz and a bake sale. You are proud of being super fans. We
0:19:33 > 0:19:38thought, why not test them. We've asked to guide to set you a question
0:19:38 > 0:19:43if that's OK.In the philosopher's Stone, in the Privet Drive scene
0:19:43 > 0:19:48where the Hogwarts letters come flying in, how many letters do you
0:19:48 > 0:19:53reckon were created for the scene?A hard question. Don't tell as now,
0:19:53 > 0:19:57have a think. You can confer. No looking online, although I'm
0:19:57 > 0:20:00reliably informed it's not online and we will come back to you in

0:33:07 > 0:33:10She didn't have time to tell me, because she had to go
0:33:10 > 0:33:12to the hospital in the ambulance.
0:33:12 > 0:33:17In two weeks, she lost the ability to walk, eat.
0:33:17 > 0:33:26We were told there was nothing they could do to help her.

0:34:20 > 0:34:23It's a beautiful place.
0:34:23 > 0:34:30I'd never think I'd say that about a hospice, but it truly is.

0:34:48 > 0:34:49through it as well.
0:34:49 > 0:34:54So I've got someone to talk to.
0:34:54 > 0:34:56Gobaith means "hope".
0:34:56 > 0:35:02Ty Gobaith - Hope House - they just make you realise,
0:35:02 > 0:35:06even though Beca's terminally ill, there's still hope to carry

0:35:56 > 0:35:57It's utterly brilliant.

0:37:32 > 0:37:40I have been knitting tiny Pudsey Bear 's.Little tiny Pudsey Bears.
0:37:40 > 0:37:46About four inches high. They've got a little bit on the top of their

0:38:18 > 0:38:26meet you, Tess. She is so smart, Tess Daly. We do loads of
0:38:26 > 0:38:32fundraising stuff in work. Last year John sat in a bathtub beans.Bit of
0:38:32 > 0:38:37a let down, though. Nobody really bothered, we didn't raise much
0:38:37 > 0:38:44money.Nobody knew, John, you didn't tell anyone.Now I didn't. I printed
0:38:44 > 0:38:49pamphlets.He didn't. This year we've really pushed the boat out.
0:38:49 > 0:38:53Literally this year.We have a Blue Planet theme, John has been pushed
0:38:53 > 0:38:58around the car park at work in a dinghy on wheels. That there is a
0:38:58 > 0:39:05hammerhead shark.We had a really good laugh didn't we?Have we? I
0:39:05 > 0:39:12still can't feel my feet.How much have you raised?Well...We're still
0:39:12 > 0:39:17working it out. We're still working it out because Kayleigh bought
0:39:17 > 0:39:25tickets for car Fest with the money out the bucket. It's all the same
0:39:25 > 0:39:29cause.It's not for the same cause if you're taking it out of the
0:39:29 > 0:39:34bucket. Technically, when to be back back in the bucket? When I get paid
0:39:34 > 0:39:37next week I'll put it back in the bucket then. That's not the point.
0:39:37 > 0:39:42Stop showing me up in front of Tess Daly. While you sort that out

0:39:52 > 0:39:53# Ever fallen in love with...
0:39:53 > 0:39:55# We decided to try something special.
0:39:55 > 0:39:59What would it be like if we filmed a whole journey without a script,
0:39:59 > 0:40:01just making it up and basically seeing what happened.
0:40:01 > 0:40:02# ..you shouldn't have fallen in love with...
0:40:02 > 0:40:04#I can do Heather Small.
0:40:04 > 0:40:05Go on, then.
0:40:05 > 0:40:10STARTS TO SING CROAKILY That's Miss Piggy!

0:40:21 > 0:40:22Why?
0:40:22 > 0:40:25Because I love you, that's why!
0:40:25 > 0:40:28Get back in!
0:40:28 > 0:40:31# ..or ever prove that I was wrong.
0:40:41 > 0:40:44Ladies and gentlemen, from Car Share, it is of course

0:40:48 > 0:40:54I'm SO thrilled Car Share is back - I think we all are!
0:40:54 > 0:41:00We all thought it had finished?
0:41:00 > 0:41:05It's been a very hard secret to keep.I'm glad it's out in the open.
0:41:05 > 0:41:08I'm glad because we were getting constant abuse about it, people have
0:41:08 > 0:41:12been very angry the series ended in that way but there is a series
0:41:12 > 0:41:18finale. Explaining what happened. The next day, after the big
0:41:18 > 0:41:23argument, so that is coming soon. We've also done another episode
0:41:23 > 0:41:27called Car Share unscripted, which is half an hour of us basically
0:41:27 > 0:41:29making the script up and improvising. For half an hour.
0:41:29 > 0:41:34Nothing to do with the story. Nothing to do with the story, just
0:41:34 > 0:41:37us having a laugh. They are coming next year, a bit of a surprise for
0:41:37 > 0:41:44everybody.We need to know what happens next! John and Kayleigh have
0:41:44 > 0:41:47a proper will they, won't they relationship. We just want to know,
0:41:47 > 0:41:54will they? You'll have to watch. Come on, Tess, we can't give that
0:41:54 > 0:42:03away.I hope they do, so well matched.Aww.Peter, we can't go any
0:42:03 > 0:42:06further without mentioning the phenomenal amount of money you
0:42:06 > 0:42:10raised yesterday on Chris Evans's Radio 2 show.Amazing that,
0:42:10 > 0:42:15absolutely incredible.Did you hear about this? How much did you raise?
0:42:15 > 0:42:26Well, I'm going on tour. He asked me to come on, I said look, I can't
0:42:26 > 0:42:29come on and not give a prize. They are doing auctions. I came up with
0:42:29 > 0:42:35the idea to do an exclusive intimate show in Blackpool in front of... In
0:42:35 > 0:42:43front of 100 people.100 people?100 people, 50 pairs of tickets, which
0:42:43 > 0:42:51raised £633,000.APPLAUSE Incredible amount.Incredible
0:42:51 > 0:42:57amount.You are such a wonderful support of Children in Need, isn't
0:42:57 > 0:43:01it lovely to have any ladies and gentlemen? APPLAUSE
0:43:01 > 0:43:06Sian Gibson and Peter Kay!
0:43:06 > 0:43:09OK, you know what I love about being part of tonight?
0:43:09 > 0:43:11It's that Children in Need has always been here.
0:43:11 > 0:43:13It's been around since I was a kid.
0:43:13 > 0:43:18It helped me when I was a kid - and I watched it when I was a kid.
0:43:18 > 0:43:19And everyone knows it and loves it.
0:43:19 > 0:43:21Because there's nothing complicated about Children in Need.
0:43:21 > 0:43:24It helps children - and that's the end of it.
0:43:24 > 0:43:26Here's Holby's Sunetra Sarker to introduce a film
0:43:26 > 0:43:27that proves just that.
0:43:27 > 0:43:32I'd like to introduce you to a wonderful boy called Harry.
0:43:32 > 0:43:35Now, Harry's had a lot of help from a lovely lady called Joan.
0:43:35 > 0:43:38And Joan's salary is funded by your generous donations.
0:43:38 > 0:43:41So, if you've donated to Children in Need,
0:43:41 > 0:43:43you've kind of helped Harry, and that's a good thing,
0:43:43 > 0:43:46because Harry really needed some support.
0:43:46 > 0:43:51I'm so glad that Joan was there for him.
0:43:55 > 0:43:59I get a happy feeling, when I'm playing.
0:43:59 > 0:44:06Just release stress and it just feels good to play football.
0:44:07 > 0:44:12Bobby was my brother, and we were very, very close.
0:44:12 > 0:44:16Every day we'd come out and we'd play.
0:44:16 > 0:44:23He had a good left foot, and he could kick a ball.
0:44:23 > 0:44:25I scored! Yay!
0:44:25 > 0:44:30Definitely could do that.
0:44:30 > 0:44:32I've got two the little brothers who are twins.
0:44:32 > 0:44:36Me and Bobby look alike.
0:44:36 > 0:44:41So my mum used to say, like, we were the first pair of twins.
0:44:41 > 0:44:44Everywhere I'd go, Bobby would go with me.
0:44:44 > 0:44:48They were just a little team.
0:44:48 > 0:44:53They just done everything together, you know?
0:44:53 > 0:44:58I went to pick Bobby up from school.
0:44:58 > 0:45:01As we did every day, we'd walk along to get Harry.
0:45:01 > 0:45:04Bobby was just a couple of steps in front of me, running along.
0:45:04 > 0:45:07And the next minute he just sort of turned and ran.
0:45:07 > 0:45:12I could see that there was a van.
0:45:12 > 0:45:14And you know what, it feels like a lifetime,
0:45:14 > 0:45:18but it must have been seconds.
0:45:18 > 0:45:22I just screamed at him.
0:45:22 > 0:45:26He just turned and looked and it hit him.
0:45:26 > 0:45:34I knew. I knew that it was bad.
0:45:34 > 0:45:36And then in hospital they were working on him
0:45:36 > 0:45:38and they sort of say, "Stop".
0:45:38 > 0:45:47And that was hard, because I still couldn't speak,
0:45:47 > 0:45:51but I think in a sort of low voice you're just pleading.
0:45:51 > 0:45:53"Please don't stop."
0:45:53 > 0:45:54"Please..."
0:45:54 > 0:46:02And obviously they do.
0:46:02 > 0:46:03Harry was broken.
0:46:03 > 0:46:07Just completely broken.
0:46:07 > 0:46:10He just went into himself.
0:46:10 > 0:46:16He was just frightened of everything.
0:46:16 > 0:46:18Bobby's accident was just outside Harry's school gates.
0:46:18 > 0:46:26For Harry, the thought of going back there seemed impossible.
0:46:26 > 0:46:28I think I missed a whole year of school.
0:46:28 > 0:46:31I wanted to go in but, at the same time, I didn't
0:46:31 > 0:46:32because I was scared.
0:46:32 > 0:46:34The teachers would be there, the headmaster would be there.
0:46:34 > 0:46:36We'd be trying to put him in.
0:46:36 > 0:46:39He'd be crying.
0:46:39 > 0:46:41And we'd spend so many hours standing there.
0:46:41 > 0:46:44And then bring him home.
0:46:44 > 0:46:46There was nothing.
0:46:46 > 0:46:48Nothing we could do to fix this.
0:46:48 > 0:46:52And nobody could.
0:46:52 > 0:46:56And then obviously Joan came along.
0:46:56 > 0:46:58Oh, tell me about that one!
0:46:58 > 0:46:59Look at that!
0:46:59 > 0:47:01That was Bobby's birthday.
0:47:01 > 0:47:02Do you remember that day?
0:47:02 > 0:47:06Joan is a bereavement support counsellor.
0:47:06 > 0:47:08Your donations mean that she can be there for children like Harry
0:47:08 > 0:47:12in the hardest of times.
0:47:12 > 0:47:15And it was actually Bobby that convinced us all to go on it.
0:47:15 > 0:47:18When I first met Harry, he'd been through such a difficult time.
0:47:18 > 0:47:21He was really closed and quiet.
0:47:21 > 0:47:24And frightened.
0:47:24 > 0:47:28At first, I think all she wanted to do was make me smile
0:47:28 > 0:47:29and get to know me.
0:47:29 > 0:47:36And then she'd start all the get me back into school stuff.
0:47:36 > 0:47:40I was thinking, how am I going to cope?
0:47:40 > 0:47:42I thought she was a bit mad.
0:47:42 > 0:47:46I got to know her more and realised that she's lovely.
0:47:46 > 0:47:49And she's not mad.
0:47:49 > 0:47:52Well, she is a bit!
0:47:52 > 0:47:53Oh, my goodness.
0:47:53 > 0:47:56We did things together every single day for months
0:47:56 > 0:48:00until the end of term.
0:48:00 > 0:48:07And by the end of term he was he was going in for the full day.
0:48:07 > 0:48:11She's put the confidence back in him.
0:48:11 > 0:48:15She's just brought Harry back.
0:48:15 > 0:48:20That feeling when you know your mum and dad are proud of you,
0:48:20 > 0:48:24it's just amazing, really.
0:48:24 > 0:48:27Bobby would be proud that I've gone back into school.
0:48:27 > 0:48:31He would be there with his little cheeky smile.
0:48:31 > 0:48:33Obviously I know he was there, but...
0:48:33 > 0:48:36We couldn't see him.
0:48:36 > 0:48:39Your donations will mean that more children like Harry will get
0:48:39 > 0:48:42the vital support they need.
0:48:42 > 0:48:45So please call...
0:49:01 > 0:49:04Thank you.

1:33:35 > 1:33:38Tonight is a special night,
1:33:38 > 1:33:41because we're all coming together to raise money to help support children
1:33:41 > 1:33:43all across the UK.
1:33:43 > 1:33:45Fantastic children like this little boy you're about to meet.
1:33:45 > 1:33:49He's called Sam.
1:33:50 > 1:33:53Sport was the thing I enjoyed the most.
1:33:53 > 1:33:56That's the thing I looked forward to.
1:33:57 > 1:34:00It was always sport,
1:34:00 > 1:34:03and then when it got taken away from me, it's sort of like...
1:34:03 > 1:34:07It's sort of like there's nothing which I enjoy any more.
1:34:07 > 1:34:11Two years ago, Sam was playing in a rugby match for his local team.
1:34:11 > 1:34:16I played for about three-quarters of the game
1:34:16 > 1:34:18and then I felt a big pull down the left hamstring,
1:34:18 > 1:34:26and collapsed.
1:34:26 > 1:34:27The consultant just came and said to me
1:34:27 > 1:34:31that Samuel had had a spinal stroke.
1:34:31 > 1:34:35And that it meant that he was paraplegic.
1:34:35 > 1:34:38That he'd damaged his spinal cord
1:34:38 > 1:34:41and it would mean that he wasn't able to walk.
1:34:41 > 1:34:47How do you tell your son that?
1:34:47 > 1:34:52How do you go back and break that news?
1:34:52 > 1:34:57It's just...so hard.
1:34:57 > 1:34:59Then when my mum told me, I got really upset.
1:34:59 > 1:35:02It was hard to get to sleep that night.
1:35:06 > 1:35:09We just sat there and, um...
1:35:09 > 1:35:12What's happened to our little boy, you know, who loved life?
1:35:12 > 1:35:15Loved charging about like any other little boy.
1:35:15 > 1:35:19And what were we going to do?
1:35:19 > 1:35:21I didn't really want to do anything.
1:35:21 > 1:35:31I went to watch all my mates play, and I just felt so sad.
1:35:31 > 1:35:32Sometimes you feel really helpless.
1:35:32 > 1:35:34You're just thinking, "I don't know who to turn to."
1:35:34 > 1:35:42"Who's there to support us?"
1:35:42 > 1:35:45But there was someone there to turn to.
1:35:45 > 1:35:48Back Up, a charity that offers help to children like Sam
1:35:48 > 1:35:50following life-changing spinal cord injuries.
1:35:50 > 1:35:52..they can see us...
1:35:52 > 1:35:57Just to enjoy, like, the sense of excitement,
1:35:57 > 1:36:01it just brung my confidence up in a massive way.
1:36:01 > 1:36:03It's made me feel more like I fit in.
1:36:03 > 1:36:05Out the way!
1:36:05 > 1:36:07Back Up gave him the confidence,
1:36:07 > 1:36:09gave him the adventure that he was after.
1:36:09 > 1:36:12WHOOPING
1:36:12 > 1:36:15He's been able to talk to other people that have went through
1:36:15 > 1:36:18a similar experience,
1:36:18 > 1:36:23and actually feed off of some of the things that they've achieved.
1:36:23 > 1:36:28Through Back Up, Sam met Ella, the charity's under-18s manager.
1:36:28 > 1:36:29She's funded entirely by Children in Need.
1:36:29 > 1:36:32Back Up connects people.
1:36:32 > 1:36:35Sam is doing amazing.
1:36:35 > 1:36:37It's really positive to see,
1:36:37 > 1:36:40because being able to talk to
1:36:40 > 1:36:42other people that can relate to what you're going through
1:36:42 > 1:36:44and hear things that they're doing
1:36:44 > 1:36:46focuses you more on what is still possible
1:36:46 > 1:36:48rather than what you've lost.
1:36:48 > 1:36:51So when I had my injury when I was ten...
1:36:51 > 1:36:52Ella, she's just inspirational.
1:36:52 > 1:36:53She goes to different countries
1:36:53 > 1:36:56and it's like she's done all this stuff.
1:36:56 > 1:36:59When I was over there in New Zealand, I did a sky dive.
1:36:59 > 1:37:01With inspirational people like that,
1:37:01 > 1:37:06that's one of the reasons why I feel like I'm so more positive now.
1:37:06 > 1:37:08Nicely done, Sam.
1:37:08 > 1:37:13You can do anything you want.
1:37:13 > 1:37:15Right, you're in control of it now, all right?
1:37:15 > 1:37:16We're incredibly proud of him.
1:37:16 > 1:37:18When you've seen him at the lowest,
1:37:18 > 1:37:21it is just really great to see him back with a smile on his face,
1:37:21 > 1:37:26enjoying life, embracing life.
1:37:26 > 1:37:33Doing what an 11-year-old should be doing.
1:37:33 > 1:37:35Tonight, you can help more children just like Sam. Call:
1:37:38 > 1:37:41Or you can text:
1:37:50 > 1:37:52Thank you.
1:37:52 > 1:37:55Sam, you are brilliant, you really are.
1:37:55 > 1:37:58We're all so pleased to see that you're doing so very well.

1:38:04 > 1:38:08So please, if you can, do donate tonight. Thank you very much.
1:38:08 > 1:38:11Now, the Blue Peter presenters have done everything
1:38:11 > 1:38:14from jumping out of planes to making models with sticky-backed plastic.
1:38:14 > 1:38:17AUDIENCE WHOOPS
1:38:17 > 1:38:20I know, it's very tricky. Thank you.
1:38:20 > 1:38:23But this routine could be their biggest challenge yet.
1:38:23 > 1:38:25Let's see how they cope training for the jive.
1:38:27 > 1:38:29You say Blue Peter - everybody knows it.
1:38:29 > 1:38:31It's just got all the ingredients
1:38:31 > 1:38:33of a good show.
1:38:33 > 1:38:35You've got to be the Swiss army knife of presenters.
1:38:35 > 1:38:37You've got to do a bit of everything.
1:38:37 > 1:38:39One minute you're interviewing the prime minister,
1:38:39 > 1:38:41the next minute you're in a sewer.
1:38:41 > 1:38:43At the time, I don't think we realised
1:38:43 > 1:38:45the treasure we were experiencing.
1:38:45 > 1:38:50When else would you get to skydive out of a plane
1:38:50 > 1:38:51with the RAF Vulcans?
1:38:51 > 1:38:52Wow!
1:38:52 > 1:38:54Only on Blue Peter.
1:38:54 > 1:38:54Only on Blue Peter.
1:38:54 > 1:38:57There are so many moments. But it's got to be
1:38:57 > 1:38:58making Tracy Island.
1:38:58 > 1:38:59When you've finished it,
1:38:59 > 1:39:00it should look something like this.
1:39:00 > 1:39:03Before we came off air, the phone lines had gone down.
1:39:03 > 1:39:04The rest is history.
1:39:04 > 1:39:07You need to be able to say yes to virtually everything.
1:39:07 > 1:39:08It's absolutely incredible!
1:39:08 > 1:39:12You would get your scripts and you'd look at what you were going to do
1:39:12 > 1:39:14and it would be something fantastic.
1:39:14 > 1:39:17Because it's live, there's always loads of embarrassing moments.
1:39:17 > 1:39:20Oops-a-daisy!
1:39:20 > 1:39:23He's a life-size model of a businessman.
1:39:23 > 1:39:24Oops!

1:39:26 > 1:39:28I miss it.
1:39:28 > 1:39:31You can always say, "I was part of television history," absolutely.
1:39:31 > 1:39:34A bit like Strictly, really!
1:39:34 > 1:39:361, 2, 3, 4...
1:39:36 > 1:39:38The jive is really difficult.
1:39:38 > 1:39:42For me, because it's so fast!
1:39:42 > 1:39:44There's this perception about Blue Peter presenters
1:39:44 > 1:39:46that we're really sort of action-packed, fearless,
1:39:46 > 1:39:50but there's nowhere to hide on this one.
1:39:50 > 1:39:54This is much more difficult than any of that stuff.
1:39:54 > 1:39:57The thing is, you have to be in a sort of dancer's mentality.
1:39:57 > 1:39:59I think I dance like Chloe
1:39:59 > 1:40:02and I see the mirror and realise I'm not.
1:40:02 > 1:40:05Oh! Right, start again.
1:40:05 > 1:40:08It's hard to learn to dance if you have two left feet,
1:40:08 > 1:40:10but Dianne has been putting me through my paces.
1:40:10 > 1:40:13I know how to do the steps, I just...
1:40:13 > 1:40:16don't know the order that they come in.She's very brave.
1:40:16 > 1:40:18This is Blue Peter on Strictly for Children in Need,

1:40:32 > 1:40:34the Pudsey Glitterball trophy. they all want to win -
1:40:34 > 1:40:38And today I'm going to show you how to make one.
1:40:38 > 1:40:41Now, Pudsey's arms and legs are made out of old toilet rolls,
1:40:41 > 1:40:43and his body and head out of papier mache.
1:40:43 > 1:40:45To put it all together, you're going to need some...
1:40:45 > 1:40:46sticky-backed plastic!
1:40:46 > 1:40:48AUDIENCE CHEERS
1:40:48 > 1:40:51Here's some sticky-backed plastic. Thanks, Radzi.

1:45:10 > 1:45:14for giving up their time for Children in Need.
1:45:14 > 1:45:16And all the judges were actually in shock
1:45:16 > 1:45:18that you've only had two weeks to put that jive together.
1:45:18 > 1:45:23It was absolutely brilliant. You did so well.

1:45:58 > 1:46:00Top marks, Mark. Craig.
1:46:00 > 1:46:02I almost made a child cry on Blue Peter
1:46:02 > 1:46:05when I judged a dance competition, I'm afraid to say,
1:46:05 > 1:46:07because I said how disappointed I was
1:46:07 > 1:46:11that I couldn't find anything wrong with their dance.
1:46:11 > 1:46:14Unfortunately that's not the same for you, Tim.Aww!
1:46:14 > 1:46:17It was a little ploddy and laboured. I've got to be honest.
1:46:17 > 1:46:21But your face launched that dance, it really did,
1:46:21 > 1:46:23and the lifts were absolutely fantastic.Thank you.

1:51:31 > 1:51:32We did a three legged run.
1:51:32 > 1:51:33That's it.
1:51:33 > 1:51:34Dressed as clowns.
1:51:34 > 1:51:37People are always asking us what you are going to be doing next.
1:51:37 > 1:51:40And it wouldn't be the same if we didn't do it.
1:51:40 > 1:51:42Last year was a ten kilometre mud run.
1:51:42 > 1:51:44And this year was probably our most challenging yet.

1:51:46 > 1:51:49It feels great to know we're helping people who aren't

1:51:50 > 1:51:51We think that means a lot.

1:52:42 > 1:52:46inspired you when you were so little? We saw an advert on the TV,
1:52:46 > 1:52:50asking people to do something different for Children in Need, when
1:52:50 > 1:52:56we were eight. We asked our mum if we could do a six mile walk for in a
1:52:56 > 1:52:58and ever since then we've just wanted to do something different
1:52:58 > 1:53:00every year. We try to think of something more creative and
1:53:00 > 1:53:04exciting.Hopefully we've inspired lots of other children out there.
1:53:04 > 1:53:11Joanna, do you want to do the honours?I do, darling,

1:53:46 > 1:53:51Thank you.
1:53:51 > 1:53:53Thank you Joanna, and thanks also to our
1:53:53 > 1:53:54fantastic fundraisers, Ellie and Abbie
1:53:54 > 1:53:57Holloway!
1:53:57 > 1:54:01CHEERING AND APPLAUSE
1:54:01 > 1:54:02Congratulations to the girls - you are
1:54:02 > 1:54:06both brilliant.
1:54:06 > 1:54:07Now, moving on.
1:54:07 > 1:54:09What we're doing tonight couldn't be more simple.
1:54:09 > 1:54:11We are all here to support children in the UK
1:54:11 > 1:54:13who need help.
1:54:13 > 1:54:14It's so straightforward.
1:54:14 > 1:54:15It's a thing of beauty.
1:54:15 > 1:54:17Here's the wonderful Jim Broadbent to tell you more.
1:54:17 > 1:54:19I'd like to talk to you about a family.
1:54:19 > 1:54:22I'm going to call them the Davis family to protect their identity.
1:54:22 > 1:54:25There's Mum, Dad, a teenage son I'll call Peter,
1:54:25 > 1:54:27and a six-year-old daughter I'll call Betty.
1:54:27 > 1:54:30Everything was going well for them.
1:54:30 > 1:54:34Money was tight, like it is for many families, but life was good.
1:54:34 > 1:54:38Mum stayed at home to look after the children and Dad went to work.
1:54:38 > 1:54:41But then Mum was diagnosed with cancer.
1:54:41 > 1:54:45She had an operation and there were complications.
1:54:45 > 1:54:47Mum is now going to hospital every day for chemotherapy
1:54:47 > 1:54:52and radiotherapy, just to stay alive.
1:54:52 > 1:54:55Dad had had to give up work to look after everyone.
1:54:55 > 1:54:57This is a terrible time for the whole family,
1:54:57 > 1:55:01and their future is horribly uncertain.
1:55:01 > 1:55:05They've moved from one council flat to another to be
1:55:05 > 1:55:06closer to the hospital.
1:55:06 > 1:55:09In their last flat, Betty had her own bedroom with a bed
1:55:09 > 1:55:10that was built in to the wall.
1:55:10 > 1:55:14When they moved they couldn't take the bed with them and,
1:55:14 > 1:55:17because Dad has had to give up work to look after everyone,
1:55:17 > 1:55:20they can't afford to buy a new one.
1:55:20 > 1:55:23It means Betty is now having to share a bed with her Mum -
1:55:23 > 1:55:26her mum, who is desperately ill and weak after those daily
1:55:26 > 1:55:31trips to the hospital for life-saving treatment.
1:55:31 > 1:55:33A family shouldn't have to live like this.
1:55:33 > 1:55:37Betty should have her own bed.
1:55:37 > 1:55:39Mum's ill health means that, even when Betty does go
1:55:39 > 1:55:43to bed, she's not getting a proper night's sleep.
1:55:43 > 1:55:45This is a real family.
1:55:45 > 1:55:46This is their life.
1:55:46 > 1:55:49This is terrible.
1:55:49 > 1:55:52But I'm so happy to be able to tell you that,
1:55:52 > 1:55:54through your donations, BBC Children In Need have made
1:55:54 > 1:55:56an emergency grant to this family through an organisation called
1:55:56 > 1:56:01Buttle UK.
1:56:01 > 1:56:04A grant which will buy little Betty a new bed.
1:56:04 > 1:56:07It won't make her mum better, it won't make this family's
1:56:07 > 1:56:10future any more certain, but it will, hopefully, mean that
1:56:10 > 1:56:15Betty has a good night's sleep.
1:56:15 > 1:56:17And everything, everything feels just a little bit better
1:56:17 > 1:56:20after a good night's sleep.
1:56:20 > 1:56:23Betty's family aren't alone.
1:56:23 > 1:56:25It's estimated that there are 4 million children living
1:56:25 > 1:56:29in poverty in the UK right now.
1:56:29 > 1:56:32Please help us to continue to support Buttle UK in the vital
1:56:32 > 1:56:35work they do supporting some of this country's most
1:56:35 > 1:56:37disadvantaged children.
1:56:37 > 1:56:40The number to call is...
1:56:57 > 1:57:05Thank you.
1:57:05 > 1:57:07I don't know if you feel this.
1:57:07 > 1:57:10On the one hand I just can't bear to hear
1:57:10 > 1:57:11about it.
1:57:11 > 1:57:14On the other, it's such a relief to know that Buttle
1:57:14 > 1:57:15UK is there to help.
1:57:15 > 1:57:17But the truth is, they can't afford to support all the
1:57:17 > 1:57:19families who urgently need help right now.
1:57:19 > 1:57:29If you can afford to donate we thank you.
1:57:30 > 1:57:32Please text us.
1:57:36 > 1:57:37Thank you.
1:57:37 > 1:57:39With your help, phenomenal work is taking
1:57:39 > 1:57:41place across the UK, improving lives for the
1:57:41 > 1:57:42better.
1:57:42 > 1:57:45Let's hear from some of the people who have benefitted from donations
1:57:45 > 1:57:48in your area.
1:57:59 > 1:58:05Welcome back to the great Hall and the magical world of Harry Potter,
1:58:05 > 1:58:08which is clearly getting into the festive spirit. But to night,
1:58:08 > 1:58:12Hogwarts is where we've been thanking our wonderful fundraisers
1:58:12 > 1:58:16from in and around the capital. Yes, there's been face painting, there's
1:58:16 > 1:58:20been dressing up, there's been calligraphy, but there is a serious
1:58:20 > 1:58:24side to, because ultimately it's all about the children on the charities
1:58:24 > 1:58:29that benefits from your generosity. One of them is 17-year-old Anna, who
1:58:29 > 1:58:38is here with her dad, Yunus. Tell us how Horse Rangers has helped Anna.
1:58:38 > 1:58:42Is autistic and find the world a difficult place to navigate. She
1:58:42 > 1:58:47gets in on Wednesday in from school, tired and fed up, goes to Horse
1:58:47 > 1:58:51Rangers and comes back a different girl. She's completely lit up by the
1:58:51 > 1:58:56experience.What do you love about horse riding? It makes me feel
1:58:56 > 1:59:03amazing and free, just being a pommel horse and feeling like I can
1:59:03 > 1:59:10be myself, -- just being up, on a horse and feeling like I can be
1:59:10 > 1:59:15myself.Jo, you are one of the instructors. How does it feel to
1:59:15 > 1:59:19know you are changing lives like this? It's wonderful, to see your
1:59:19 > 1:59:23child get out of a wheelchair and get on top of a horse and have full
1:59:23 > 1:59:29control is amazing to watch. What is your message to people who donate?
1:59:29 > 1:59:33Donating is everything, we have to keep this programme going. It works,
1:59:33 > 1:59:45it's successful.Thank you to you and
1:59:49 > 1:59:52all the volunteers who give their time for free. You are amazing,
1:59:52 > 1:59:54thank you. As are our fundraisers, who immersed themselves tonight in
1:59:54 > 1:59:56the world of wizardry. Let me introduce someone who knows
1:59:56 > 1:59:59everything about Harry Potter, you are one of the tour guides. Can we
1:59:59 > 2:00:01test you? We've got some really enthusiastic people. You can feel it
2:00:01 > 2:00:04in the room. They want to ask you a couple of questions to test your
2:00:04 > 2:00:08knowledge. You are?By our. How many roads were used to film the great
2:00:08 > 2:00:16Hall scenes?There were 400 extras and that includes the cast, 400,
2:00:16 > 2:00:19time is the fact there were eight films, so there were thousands,
2:00:19 > 2:00:26thousands.You have a question.I'd like to know what the first past
2:00:26 > 2:00:33word was?It means dragons head in Latin. How would you rate her?
2:00:33 > 2:00:39That's pretty good.Very good. Thanks for your questions. You have
2:00:39 > 2:00:43got a special Hogwarts prop, used in the film in this very room, here it
2:00:43 > 2:00:48is. Is it fair to say that this is to Harry Potter perhaps what
2:00:48 > 2:00:53silverware is to football? Absolutely, this is one of the most
2:00:53 > 2:00:57iconic props in the entire series. The Storting at itself is from way
2:00:57 > 2:01:02back when, the Philosopher's Stone, when the students first arrive at
2:01:02 > 2:01:05Hogwarts we come through the doors and see the whole hall and they are
2:01:05 > 2:01:09called up onto the stage and the sorting Hat is placed on their head
2:01:09 > 2:01:12and they are sorted into their house.White gloves, we are not
2:01:12 > 2:01:17allowed to touch it, I would was shooed away when I tried. Thank you
2:01:17 > 2:01:22to you and of course to everyone here for having us, especially to

2:01:43 > 2:01:48donated, and to you at home, for joining us, thank you. That's it
2:01:48 > 2:01:52from us, in the great Hall at Hogwarts. It's been a magical night,

2:02:20 > 2:02:23Now Graham, what do you call a dog that can do magic?
2:02:23 > 2:02:25I don't know Mel - what do you call a dog
2:02:25 > 2:02:26that can do magic?
2:02:26 > 2:02:27A Labracadabrador.
2:02:27 > 2:02:28That, my friends, is
2:02:28 > 2:02:30what you call, not only a
2:02:30 > 2:02:32dad joke, but a bad joke - and there's
2:02:32 > 2:02:33plenty more where that came from.
2:02:33 > 2:02:36But rather than hear them from Mel - who
2:02:36 > 2:02:37better than two Hollywood superstars currently playing
2:02:37 > 2:02:39dads to do the dirty work?
2:02:39 > 2:02:44It's the ultimate funny face-off...
2:02:44 > 2:02:49In the red corner is Will Ferrell .
2:02:49 > 2:02:51And in the blue corner is Mark Wahlberg.
2:02:51 > 2:02:52Tonight it's Children in Need.

2:02:54 > 2:02:55face-to-face games.
2:02:55 > 2:02:56To find out...

2:03:27 > 2:03:30What's he short for?
2:03:30 > 2:03:31You cracked yourself up.
2:03:31 > 2:03:32I'm laughing at you.
2:03:32 > 2:03:36The delivery was awesome.
2:03:36 > 2:03:38I'm not laughing at the joke, I'm laughing at you.
2:03:38 > 2:03:39What do you call a fish with no eyes?

2:04:32 > 2:04:34Your stern face from the beginning was this...

2:04:55 > 2:04:56Our?!?
2:04:56 > 2:04:57Mine.
2:04:57 > 2:04:58Better.
2:04:58 > 2:05:01Now some of the projects which are funded by Children
2:05:01 > 2:05:03in Need are just so good it's hard to describe them.
2:05:03 > 2:05:05Luckily I don't have to.
2:05:05 > 2:05:07That job goes to our very own Marvin Humes.
2:05:07 > 2:05:09I'm really proud to be introducing this next film.
2:05:09 > 2:05:11It's about an amazing place, a truly outstanding place,
2:05:11 > 2:05:18which offers encouragement, friendship and support.
2:05:18 > 2:05:21And it's run by one of the most inspirational men I've ever known.
2:05:21 > 2:05:23He's called Michael.
2:05:25 > 2:05:28This is one of the biggest estates in this particular area, W10 area.
2:05:28 > 2:05:33Thank you.
2:05:33 > 2:05:35No worries, darlin'.
2:05:35 > 2:05:37And basically, it's kind of a tight community.
2:05:37 > 2:05:40Everybody knows each other.
2:05:40 > 2:05:43Michael has been working with the young people in this part of
2:05:43 > 2:05:44London for over 30 years.
2:05:44 > 2:05:49North Kensington is one of the most deprived areas in the country.
2:05:49 > 2:05:51A lot of the young people in this area do
2:05:51 > 2:05:54suffer from inherited, kind of, social issues.
2:05:54 > 2:05:57They can get drawn into bad behaviour, so for us, it's
2:05:57 > 2:06:00important to give them something different.
2:06:00 > 2:06:03They need a place they can call their own, a place where
2:06:03 > 2:06:05they feel safe, and a place where they can thrive.
2:06:05 > 2:06:08That place is Harrow Club.
2:06:10 > 2:06:12For thousands of children, this club is the centre of
2:06:12 > 2:06:14their lives.
2:06:14 > 2:06:17And your donations have been funding this amazing place for
2:06:17 > 2:06:19the past seven years.
2:06:19 > 2:06:22That was a good shot!
2:06:22 > 2:06:24You come here, you can relax.
2:06:24 > 2:06:26We've got lots of things, lots of games,
2:06:26 > 2:06:28and all that, to play.
2:06:28 > 2:06:32It just makes me happy when I'm here.
2:06:32 > 2:06:34It's like a second home, because all the people here
2:06:34 > 2:06:35are, like, really nice.
2:06:35 > 2:06:37It's always fun.
2:06:37 > 2:06:38What time do you finish your performance?
2:06:38 > 2:06:43Harrow Club makes you feel like you can do anything.
2:06:43 > 2:06:45This is about opportunities.
2:06:45 > 2:06:49For a lot of these young people, if they're not academic,
2:06:49 > 2:06:51if they're not sporty, if they're not gifted
2:06:51 > 2:06:54in that kind of way, they're limited in their vision.
2:06:54 > 2:06:57And they set their ceiling maybe a little bit lower,
2:06:57 > 2:06:58as a result of that.
2:06:58 > 2:07:04We nurture young people's talent, so they can achieve.
2:07:04 > 2:07:06Because you might not have that person in your life
2:07:06 > 2:07:09that can say, "Well, no. You don't have to stop there.
2:07:09 > 2:07:10You can go further."
2:07:10 > 2:07:12It's so important. We are embedded in this community.
2:07:12 > 2:07:15We are the heartbeat of the community.
2:07:15 > 2:07:21We have been for many years.
2:07:29 > 2:07:33It was about 2 o'clock in the morning, I got a phone call
2:07:33 > 2:07:36saying Grenfell Tower's on fire, and I was thinking, "I know lots of
2:07:36 > 2:07:40people in that building."
2:07:40 > 2:07:44Yeah...
2:07:47 > 2:07:50Within an hour, Harrow Club opened its doors, offering aid to the
2:07:50 > 2:07:52entire local community.
2:07:52 > 2:07:54As the days passed, the impact on the Harrow
2:07:54 > 2:08:00Club's own members became clear.
2:08:05 > 2:08:07I lost a good friend in the fire.
2:08:07 > 2:08:10She was in my maths class.
2:08:10 > 2:08:15She was very funny.
2:08:15 > 2:08:19I live in a tower block across the road from Grenfell.
2:08:19 > 2:08:22In the morning, if I'm walking to school, if I look up,
2:08:22 > 2:08:23I would just see it.
2:08:23 > 2:08:28We can see it everywhere we go.
2:08:31 > 2:08:33This community, we'll never forget that moment.
2:08:33 > 2:08:34It'll always evoke feelings and emotions, whether we
2:08:34 > 2:08:37like it or not.
2:08:37 > 2:08:39That's continuing.
2:08:40 > 2:08:43Here we go.
2:08:43 > 2:08:45A lot of young people, they bottle this stuff up.
2:08:45 > 2:08:47And we had to provide an environment where
2:08:47 > 2:08:50they can express that, or get that off their chest.
2:08:52 > 2:08:55# Blue lights flashing bright burning
2:08:55 > 2:08:58# How many times I've seen my friends and family's eyes drowning
2:08:58 > 2:09:01# It's just creative, got to turn it into another lesson
2:09:01 > 2:09:03# Because I've never seen a neighbourhood
2:09:03 > 2:09:05# Come together within seconds...#
2:09:05 > 2:09:10Four members of the Harrow Club died in the fire.
2:09:10 > 2:09:11You can't prepare for these things.
2:09:11 > 2:09:14You look at the young people we work with,
2:09:14 > 2:09:17and we have an idea of what we would like them to be.
2:09:17 > 2:09:19And so do their parents, but unfortunately,
2:09:19 > 2:09:20for those members who died in the fire,
2:09:20 > 2:09:22they'll never get that opportunity. We'll never know.
2:09:22 > 2:09:27But we knew what their potential was.
2:09:27 > 2:09:30When I grow up, I want to be a nanny.
2:09:30 > 2:09:32I want to be an artist.
2:09:32 > 2:09:36I want to be an architect.
2:09:36 > 2:09:39I want to be a gymnast.
2:09:39 > 2:09:45I want to be a neurosurgeon.
2:09:45 > 2:09:47The inspiring work that the Harrow Club does
2:09:47 > 2:09:51can only continue through donations like yours tonight.
2:09:51 > 2:09:55What's happened in the community's nowhere near over.
2:09:55 > 2:09:58We've got to be here.
2:09:58 > 2:10:00There's no way somewhere like this can close down.
2:10:00 > 2:10:01There's no way our programmes could stop.
2:10:01 > 2:10:06It needs to be here.
2:10:07 > 2:10:09A message of hope amidst such tragedy
2:10:09 > 2:10:11seems almost impossible doesn't it - but
2:10:11 > 2:10:12there you have it.
2:10:12 > 2:10:14That's what the Harrow Club has done.
2:10:14 > 2:10:15They are looking to the future.
2:10:15 > 2:10:16They believe in their children.
2:10:16 > 2:10:19They have hope.
2:10:19 > 2:10:20And they will, thanks to your donations, help
2:10:20 > 2:10:21those children reach their
2:10:21 > 2:10:23potential.
2:10:23 > 2:10:25Do you know, Children in Need supports more
2:10:25 > 2:10:29than 200 fantastic local projects like this around the UK.
2:10:29 > 2:10:32And just speaking for myself, what a relief Harrow
2:10:32 > 2:10:34Club was there when that tragedy happened.
2:10:34 > 2:10:36So we can continue to support them and
2:10:36 > 2:10:38many other projects like them all across the
2:10:38 > 2:10:42country, please call...
2:10:59 > 2:11:03The work they do is so very important. Thank you.

2:13:06 > 2:13:10children with learning and physical disabilities in Newcastle.
2:13:10 > 2:13:12And they all have one thing in common - something very
2:13:12 > 2:13:14close to my own heart.
2:13:14 > 2:13:18They're all positively passionate about Poldark!
2:13:18 > 2:13:21I get it, ladies - that hair, those cheekbones,
2:13:21 > 2:13:22those smouldering looks...
2:13:22 > 2:13:23I think it's the hat.
2:13:23 > 2:13:25He looks like a hunky fortune cookie.

2:14:17 > 2:14:18Let's sit down.
2:14:18 > 2:14:20Little do they know, but there are surprises

2:14:26 > 2:14:30You've got to be kidding me!
2:14:30 > 2:14:34Shall we see what we can nick while they are out?
2:14:34 > 2:14:37Let's be honest, our four ladies look a little out of place.
2:14:37 > 2:14:38Take that.
2:14:38 > 2:14:40Wonder if there's anything we can do about that?
2:14:40 > 2:14:43Right, off to costume, this way.

2:15:11 > 2:15:15So this is the parlour.
2:15:15 > 2:15:17Our ladies are loving Eleanor's tour, but I think

2:15:30 > 2:15:31Oh, my goodness.
2:15:31 > 2:15:36Here they are.

2:18:13 > 2:18:15Beautifully done.
2:18:15 > 2:18:18Next, a film introduced by the lovely Olivia Colman.
2:18:18 > 2:18:21The thought of one of your children being seriously ill is one
2:18:21 > 2:18:22of life's true horrors.
2:18:22 > 2:18:25As parents, we would give everything on earth to make them well again,
2:18:25 > 2:18:27everything for a smile.

2:18:30 > 2:18:32girl called Vanessa.
2:18:32 > 2:18:35She made me smile whilst my heart was breaking because this
2:18:35 > 2:18:37is a very sad film.
2:18:37 > 2:18:41But Vanessa's brave family wanted us to tell a story
2:18:41 > 2:18:44because your donations help their little girl
2:18:44 > 2:18:52to smile and they wanted to say thank you for that.
2:18:52 > 2:18:56I'm Vanessa and I have cancer.
2:18:56 > 2:18:59And I'm four.
2:18:59 > 2:19:03For half her life, Vanessa has been facing neuroblastoma,
