0:07:23 > 0:07:27from Jake later. Now someone who knows how important your donations

0:07:27 > 0:07:33are, the boss of Children in Need charity and I grabbed a quick chat

0:07:33 > 0:07:38with her on Friday. Great fun but the money makes a real difference,

0:07:38 > 0:07:42tell us about Children in Need Northern Ireland?Children in Need

0:07:42 > 0:07:47has a very simple vision - it wants to enable children to reach their

0:07:47 > 0:07:53potential. We have 200 projects taking place across Northern

0:07:53 > 0:07:56Ireland, reaching upwards of 55,000 young people and to a value of £10

0:07:56 > 0:08:02million. The work is very targeted. It is incredible. It is

0:08:02 > 0:08:06wide-reaching and does make a difference in children's lives.Were

0:08:06 > 0:08:14you bowled over by the efforts of fund-raisers?Yes we had loads of

0:08:14 > 0:08:17children come through Broadcasting House, but to hear what children

0:08:17 > 0:08:22from the age of three upwards are doing for Children in Need bowls me

0:08:22 > 0:08:25over. The people of Northern Ireland have been incredible. We have had

0:08:25 > 0:08:32hundreds of children head to school, they have pajamas on, their spots

0:08:32 > 0:08:36on, they have baked cakes. There has been incredible fund-raising taking

0:08:36 > 0:08:42place. Whatever it was, people did their thing.Last year we got just

0:08:42 > 0:08:51over £950,000. What do you hope for this year?We are always blown away

0:08:51 > 0:08:56by the generosity of people across Northern Ireland, it would be great

0:08:56 > 0:09:01to reach the £900,000 again. But we are pleased whether it is £5 or 20%,

0:09:01 > 0:09:05just do your thing and we will be very grateful and put it to good

0:09:05 > 0:09:13use.Fantastic. Thank you. Fingers crossed.Yes thank you.Your

0:09:13 > 0:09:15donations make a difference to projects across Northern Ireland

0:09:15 > 0:09:20like this one just outside Belfast.

0:09:28 > 0:09:33We have been boxing here since 1983 and it has gone from strength to

0:09:33 > 0:09:38strength. From 2012 we have become something different, more than a

0:09:38 > 0:09:43boxing club. We brought together a marriage of sport and education to

0:09:43 > 0:09:47tackle some of the issue that are facing this community and

0:09:47 > 0:09:50particularly young people in the community. Young people involved

0:09:50 > 0:09:58with a lot of Social Services with foster placements and face complex

0:09:58 > 0:10:02drug and alcohol issues. The this programme tries to engage parents

0:10:02 > 0:10:08more in their child's education. So we have a big emphasis on trying to

0:10:08 > 0:10:13raise the bar in terms of aspirations and put in projects to

0:10:13 > 0:10:21help young people achieve their potential at school. The breakfast

0:10:21 > 0:10:27club is a saviour for parents who struggle to provide a nutritious

0:10:27 > 0:10:32breakfast each morning. We are able to find this each morning. Some of

0:10:32 > 0:10:36the young people never knew what it was to have a good breakfast and

0:10:36 > 0:10:44thousand they come in each morning, which is really good.It has been a

0:10:44 > 0:10:49real success story, he came from Limerick, spoke with a different

0:10:49 > 0:10:54accent, moved into a new community and had no support networks, he came

0:10:54 > 0:11:01to school and didn't engage the way the teachers wanted him to.I

0:11:01 > 0:11:07started school and got bullied, got kicked out of class, hit stuff and

0:11:07 > 0:11:14hit people. When I came to the club, I was about six stone heavier, I

0:11:14 > 0:11:20smoked, I did a lot of stuff I shouldn't have. And just wasn't the

0:11:20 > 0:11:25person that's sitting here today. I was completely different. I was...

0:11:25 > 0:11:33Angrier and more upset and more violent. I calmed down and started

0:11:33 > 0:11:37making friends and opened myself more and started getting into boxing

0:11:37 > 0:11:49and getting into the gym. I haven't got into a fight in a year and a

0:11:49 > 0:11:56half, I can control my anger and my emotions. I got all the

0:11:56 > 0:12:04qualifications to start to be a Belfast Med for the boxing Academy.

0:12:04 > 0:12:09They believed me, so I believed in myself. Co-I could do it.Those

0:12:09 > 0:12:14success stories make we want to get up every day and come to this job.

0:12:14 > 0:12:19We took a different approach, more a youth work approach. We have smaller

0:12:19 > 0:12:25class sizes. We see that benefits them in terms of their learning.I

0:12:25 > 0:12:32like coming, because you could come in here and maybe drop off and go to

0:12:32 > 0:12:39the gym.Three, four.You can come half 1 and they help with your

0:12:39 > 0:12:44homework and you can go to the gym and do boxing and learn new things

0:12:44 > 0:12:49for boxing and get fit.When I started coming, I felt it was a safe

0:12:49 > 0:12:54place for me, so I could come and speak to Amy and Paul and the

0:12:54 > 0:12:59leaders and it helped me build up my confidence a lot. I think it is

0:12:59 > 0:13:05important that Children in Need keeps getting funded, because others

0:13:05 > 0:13:09should be able to come and see the impact it has on all the kids'

0:13:09 > 0:13:15lives.This is not a job to me, this is something I love doing, helping

0:13:15 > 0:13:20young people achieve their potential and through me and my staff and the

0:13:20 > 0:13:24funding from Children in Need it has made a massive impact on young

0:13:24 > 0:13:36people's futures and hopefully that can continue.

0:13:38 > 0:13:43That's just one of the many groups here in Northern Ireland where your

0:13:43 > 0:13:47donations really make a difference. So thank you. To keep them going,

0:13:47 > 0:13:51why not do your thing for this year's Children in Need? To find out

0:13:51 > 0:13:57more and donate, go to BBC .co .uk slash Pudsey.

0:14:01 > 0:14:05We have another treat in store for you from Friday night's

0:14:05 > 0:14:09extravaganza. When the East End met the West End in Albert Square.

0:27:19 > 0:27:23# And I can't thank you enough

0:27:23 > 0:27:27# But I give another piece of me away

0:27:32 > 0:27:35# Am I a monster?

0:27:35 > 0:27:37# What will your family think of me?

0:27:37 > 0:27:39# They brought me in

0:27:39 > 0:27:43# They helped me out with everything

0:27:43 > 0:27:46# But I give a little piece of me away

0:27:46 > 0:27:52# Every single day

0:27:52 > 0:27:55# So I pick up the pieces

0:27:55 > 0:27:57# I get on the midnight train

0:27:57 > 0:28:00# I got my reasons

0:28:59 > 0:29:01# But darling I can't explain

0:29:01 > 0:29:05# I'll always love you

0:29:05 > 0:29:11# But tonight's the night I choose to walk away

0:29:11 > 0:29:14# I can't stop crying

0:29:14 > 0:29:17# I hate that I've caused you pain

0:29:17 > 0:29:18# But I can't deny it

0:29:18 > 0:29:21# I just don't feel the same

0:29:21 > 0:29:24# I'll always love you

0:29:24 > 0:29:32# But tonight's the night I choose to walk away

0:29:32 > 0:29:36# Ba-ba doo, ba-ba doo-oo

0:29:36 > 0:29:37# Oh-ooh

0:29:37 > 0:29:47# Ba-ba doo, ba-ba doo-oo

0:29:52 > 0:29:56# And so I pick up the pieces

0:29:56 > 0:29:58# I get on the midnight train

0:29:58 > 0:30:00# I got my reasons

0:30:00 > 0:30:04# But darling I can't explain

0:30:04 > 0:30:09# I'll always love you

0:30:09 > 0:30:18# But tonight's the night I choose to walk away.#

0:30:22 > 0:30:27CHEERING AND APPLAUSE.

0:30:30 > 0:30:35Your efforts, donations and kindness do bring light into the darkness for

0:30:35 > 0:30:40many children right across Northern Ireland. Children like Noah and

0:30:40 > 0:30:49Gracie.Doing well Noah.Looking at him, you wouldn't have thought there

0:30:49 > 0:30:55was anything wrong with him. He maybe had an unsteady gait. But

0:30:55 > 0:31:05apart from that he was perfectly normal.Eight years ago Noah was

0:31:05 > 0:31:20diagnosed with a rare form of a life limited knew logical disease that

0:31:20 > 0:31:26has affected every part of his life. I think he would have been an

0:31:26 > 0:31:30athletic young boy and sociable.I could imagine him coming in,

0:31:30 > 0:31:36throwing the football boots down and those normal things that you just

0:31:36 > 0:31:47really take for granted.

0:31:55 > 0:32:09We watch Noah and he is starting to lose his abilities.

0:32:15 > 0:32:17Noah's sister, Gracie, has witnessed her brother's decline.

0:32:17 > 0:32:19As Noah's condition deteriorates and he gets worse, it

0:32:19 > 0:32:20affects our whole family.

0:32:20 > 0:32:22Instead of moving towards life, you're moving towards...

0:32:22 > 0:32:25you know, this...

0:32:25 > 0:32:31death.

0:32:31 > 0:32:34A year after Noah was diagnosed, our social worker said

0:32:34 > 0:32:38to us about a hospice, Horizon House.

0:32:38 > 0:32:40I think initially we were like petrified, weren't we?

0:32:40 > 0:32:43It was just the word "hospice" and what that meant.

0:32:43 > 0:32:46We did go to Horizon House.

0:32:46 > 0:32:51And it was just such a fun place to be.

0:32:51 > 0:32:53Horizon House is supported by your donations and for the past

0:32:53 > 0:32:56seven years, they have been by Noah's side, giving him

0:32:56 > 0:33:00and his family vital support, a sense of normality and most

0:33:00 > 0:33:06of all fun.

0:33:06 > 0:33:07THEY LAUGHNoah!

0:33:07 > 0:33:08Get her!

0:33:08 > 0:33:09Get her!

0:33:09 > 0:33:11Put it down.

0:33:11 > 0:33:13The nurses are amazing.

0:33:13 > 0:33:15And it's fun.

0:33:15 > 0:33:18The children just do so much together when they are there,

0:33:18 > 0:33:23you know, they love it.

0:33:23 > 0:33:30Gracie's been going for as long as Noah's been going.

0:33:30 > 0:33:35Leukodystrophy is a genetic condition.

0:33:35 > 0:33:37And a year after Noah's diagnosis, the family discovered

0:33:37 > 0:33:44that Gracie had it, too.

0:33:44 > 0:33:46When we found out Gracie had it, it was just

0:33:46 > 0:33:49devastating all over again.

0:33:49 > 0:33:52It's a very, very cruel disease.

0:33:52 > 0:33:58She's watched Noah, so for her...

0:33:58 > 0:34:00..to be watching that, there's no words to describe

0:34:00 > 0:34:06the heartache that you feel.

0:34:06 > 0:34:09We had so many hopes and dreams for what our family life

0:34:09 > 0:34:11was going to be like before.

0:34:11 > 0:34:14You know, you think about things that people take for granted,

0:34:14 > 0:34:16like your children going to university, meeting a wee

0:34:16 > 0:34:23girlfriend or boyfriend, getting married and...

0:34:23 > 0:34:27Yeah...

0:34:27 > 0:34:36That's just...the kind of life that you wanted for them.

0:34:45 > 0:34:49Horizon House is one of many groups in Northern Ireland, where your

0:34:49 > 0:34:54donations do make a difference. So thank you. To keep this great work

0:34:54 > 0:34:59going, why not doing your thing for Children in Need. To find out more

0:34:59 > 0:35:08and to donate go to the web-site. You do make a difference to

0:35:08 > 0:35:12children's lives so thank you. We at the BBC can't can you to do your

0:35:12 > 0:35:17thing without doing it ourselves. Last week five BBC presenters

0:35:17 > 0:35:22squared up in our own team and put their eggs in one basket for a

0:35:22 > 0:35:31cracking challenge.Welcome to the omelette challenge and we have

0:35:31 > 0:35:36thrown them the challenge of a two-egg omelette. And Michael's

0:35:36 > 0:35:42going to judge it and he will know when enough's enough when tasting

0:35:42 > 0:35:50these.A wee practice. You did not? Karen said I had thrown down the

0:35:50 > 0:36:01spatula.I think he is trying to psyche us out.We had a shell.They

0:36:01 > 0:36:11were excellent. You can use two hands. Listen to that noise. Try not

0:36:11 > 0:36:22to let any of it stick. She is going to give us our time, Nicola is going

0:36:22 > 0:36:32to tell us when you're finished.No. Take a bit longer.There is about 10

0:36:32 > 0:36:41seconds difference between an omelette and scrambled eggs.Done!

0:36:46 > 0:36:57Spillage, Jenny, note the spillage. Come on egg, cookclam! That will

0:36:57 > 0:37:09do.Oh!In the pan. Knoll, in the pan. I wouldn't advice.What does he

0:37:09 > 0:37:17know?

0:37:22 > 0:37:37A bit heavier on the seasoning than even me. Oh, yeah. That is it.Go!

0:37:37 > 0:37:48Oh!Look at us go! All right. It is not Strictly, you know that. Not yet

0:37:48 > 0:37:56it's not.You have got to go your own.I'm all about taste not haste.

0:37:56 > 0:38:03All about taste.This one's for you. With all my love.This is the

0:38:03 > 0:38:07stunning trophy for the winner of the omelette challenge.I didn't

0:38:07 > 0:38:12want to beat Noel, because I look up to him.Very high in the seasoning.

0:38:12 > 0:38:20That was one minute 26, that was the slowest. One minute 23. Looks quite

0:38:20 > 0:38:28a nice colour. One minute 21 seconds. It is quite well seasoned.

0:38:28 > 0:38:40This one is one 18 and looks quite nice. This is the best cooked.

0:38:44 > 0:38:58I think it will have to go to one 17, because of the speed.

0:38:58 > 0:39:09Congratulations.Well done.Well I'm not sure I would have sampled any of

0:39:09 > 0:39:15those, but thank you to everyone for taking part. Now, the treats just

0:39:15 > 0:39:22keep on coming. Don't they Barra? Are you there?I'm here. A double

0:39:22 > 0:39:28treat from Friday night with not one but two sneaky peaks at up coming

0:39:36 > 0:39:55Who.Let's get out, I lookry doibg Lues.-- ridiculous.

0:39:56 > 0:39:58Car Share is back, but not as you know it.

0:39:58 > 0:40:00# Ever fallen in love with...

0:40:00 > 0:40:01# We decided to try something special.

0:40:01 > 0:40:05What would it be like if we filmed a whole journey without a script,

0:40:05 > 0:40:07just making it up and basically seeing what happened.

0:40:07 > 0:40:09# ..you shouldn't have fallen in love with...

0:40:09 > 0:40:10#I can do Heather Small.

0:40:10 > 0:40:11Go on, then.

0:40:11 > 0:40:13STARTS TO SING CROAKILY That's Miss Piggy!

0:40:13 > 0:40:20I can't do this any more.

0:40:20 > 0:40:22You might be in for a sur...

0:40:22 > 0:40:23My Tardis!

0:40:23 > 0:40:24Look at my Tardis!

0:40:24 > 0:40:25This is impossible.

0:40:25 > 0:40:26Have I been burgled?

0:40:26 > 0:40:27It's... But it's...

0:40:27 > 0:40:28Hideous!

0:40:28 > 0:40:31..bigger on the inside than it is on the outside.

0:40:31 > 0:40:33You know, I thought it probably was.

0:40:33 > 0:40:34Glad it's not just me.

0:40:34 > 0:40:36What is this place? This place is, or ought to be,

0:40:36 > 0:40:41my Tardis.

0:40:41 > 0:40:45Technically, that is your Tardis.

0:40:45 > 0:40:48It's about 70 feet that way. See?

0:40:48 > 0:40:51Always remember where you parked. It's going to come up a lot.

0:40:51 > 0:40:52Is this madness?

0:40:52 > 0:40:54Am I going mad?

0:40:54 > 0:40:57Madness?

0:40:57 > 0:41:00Well, you're an officer from World War I at the South Pole

0:41:00 > 0:41:01being pursued by an alien through frozen time.

0:41:01 > 0:41:03Mmm.

0:41:03 > 0:41:04Madness was never this good.

0:41:04 > 0:41:07World War One.

0:41:07 > 0:41:09Judging by the uniform, yes.

0:41:09 > 0:41:11Yes, but...

0:41:11 > 0:41:16What do you mean, one?

0:41:16 > 0:41:18Oh, sorry. Spoilers.

0:41:18 > 0:41:19Enough of this!

0:41:19 > 0:41:22Who are you?

0:41:22 > 0:41:24Er...you know who I am.

0:41:24 > 0:41:26You knew the moment you saw me.

0:41:26 > 0:41:29I'd say stop being an idiot, but I kind of know what's coming.

0:41:29 > 0:41:33I assure you, I do not have the faintest idea who you are.

0:41:33 > 0:41:37Well...I know who you are.

0:41:37 > 0:41:40Is anyone going to explain what's going on?

0:41:40 > 0:41:45Snap.

0:41:46 > 0:41:48You are me?

0:41:48 > 0:41:49No.

0:41:49 > 0:41:51No!Yes.

0:41:51 > 0:41:54Yes. I'm very much afraid so.

0:41:54 > 0:41:58Do I become...you?

0:41:58 > 0:42:01Well, there's a few false starts, but you get there in the end.

0:42:01 > 0:42:05But I thought...

0:42:05 > 0:42:09What?Well, I assumed that I'd get...

0:42:09 > 0:42:10..younger.

0:42:10 > 0:42:16I am younger!

0:42:18 > 0:42:27CHEERING AND APPLAUSE. Of course you will have to wait until Christmas

0:42:27 > 0:42:31for those treats, but you don't have to wait for another sing from Jake

0:42:31 > 0:42:36Carter. He was having a party with us on Friday night.

0:42:45 > 0:42:50# From over here

0:43:02 > 0:43:12# Can I get a guitar sound? Let's sing it up loud # Tonight we're

0:43:12 > 0:43:19having a party, yeah # Come on girl, swing your body, yeah # Think about

0:43:19 > 0:43:25this, think about that, take one step forward and two steps back #

0:43:25 > 0:43:37Tonight we're having a party # Listen now # # What's that you're

0:43:37 > 0:43:44drinking, can I buy you another one? I can't help myself # Those lips are

0:45:24 > 0:45:37# In this town # #.

0:45:37 > 0:45:49Thank you.Jake's new album is out now. Next, we're off to Mid Ulster

0:45:49 > 0:45:54to a project funded by your donations. A project with its own

0:45:54 > 0:45:57celebrity friend.

0:46:05 > 0:46:09This is a programme funded by Children in Need. The project

0:46:09 > 0:46:14operates with up to 20 young people with ten children with a disability

0:46:14 > 0:46:18and ten children without a disability. To develop their

0:46:18 > 0:46:21artistic skills. And develop their communication skills through the

0:46:21 > 0:46:27arts. To remove that stigma that surrounds disability, and to

0:46:27 > 0:46:31increase understanding for those children without a disability, what

0:46:31 > 0:46:36is it like to have a disability. I've been doing this for three

0:46:36 > 0:46:43years. Everybody comes and get involved. They communicate with

0:46:43 > 0:46:48everybody else and come out of their shell.Somewhere they can be

0:46:48 > 0:46:52themselves and express themselves and with all the creativity and

0:46:52 > 0:46:58communication and confidence, that's all they need.I love all the dance.

0:46:58 > 0:47:08My favourite part, I get to dance. We work with them through drama and

0:47:08 > 0:47:12dance. Music. There's nothing like it, nothing like it in the Mid

0:47:12 > 0:47:17Ulster area. We are extremely proud to have been given the fund, to

0:47:17 > 0:47:21deliver a project that does make such a difference to young people.I

0:47:21 > 0:47:27like to spend time with my friends, they make me smile. They do their

0:47:27 > 0:47:30own drama performances and create their own pieces, which they then

0:47:30 > 0:47:33perform on stage to family and friends at the end of the programme.

0:47:33 > 0:47:41Yes!John has been a good friend of our organisation for about eight

0:47:41 > 0:47:46years. And we're... That relationship has grown over the

0:47:46 > 0:47:53years. He's been a huge support. He really gets everything that we do,

0:47:53 > 0:47:59we try to make a difference, he gets that. He has great empathy with

0:47:59 > 0:48:02children and young people.I came down to work with the kids to give

0:48:02 > 0:48:04them some workshops, musical theatre workshops,

0:48:04 > 0:48:06them some workshops, musical theatre workshops, to help develop their

0:48:06 > 0:48:07performance goals.

0:48:07 > 0:48:09workshops, to help develop their performance goals. And their social

0:48:09 > 0:48:14skills in a way. It is more inspiring for me to come here than

0:48:14 > 0:48:24it is for them. What they do here is really unique. Really if everybody

0:48:24 > 0:48:30could come here and spend just one day, just one day, you would realise

0:48:30 > 0:48:34how important Children in Need and the funding and the money that is

0:48:34 > 0:48:42given is. A tiny donation goes a long way in changing a young

0:48:42 > 0:48:48person's life. So please continue to give. Please. The difference is that

0:48:48 > 0:48:54we see in the children is massive, it's not just about a ten or 12 week

0:48:54 > 0:48:57project, it's about the legacy those children are going to carry on with

0:48:57 > 0:49:02them for the rest of their lives, which is huge. And for that we're

0:49:02 > 0:49:10so, so to Children in Need. -- so grateful to Children in Need.

0:49:10 > 0:49:15Now you've met some of the wonderful young people here. Some of these

0:49:15 > 0:49:20kids may be disabled but they are very much willing and able to learn,

0:49:20 > 0:49:26to develop, and to grow. So do your thing for Children in Need. If you

0:49:26 > 0:49:33are willing and able, please pick up the phone and donate. For more

0:49:33 > 0:49:40information on how to donate, go to the website. Do your thing.

0:49:43 > 0:49:49Now every year BBC Countryfile mobilises thousands of ramblers

0:49:49 > 0:49:53across the UK, all walking for Children in Need. This year John

0:49:53 > 0:49:57Craven met up with our local Ramblers at one of Northern

0:49:57 > 0:50:03Ireland's most scenic walking sports. Let's go...

0:50:04 > 0:50:10My ramble took me to the foot of Northern Ireland's Mourne Mountains,

0:50:10 > 0:50:14to the Castlewellan Forest Park. More than 1000 acres of glorious

0:50:14 > 0:50:20landscape, perfect for observing nature. In the shadow of this

0:50:20 > 0:50:26magnificent castle there is a very special outdoor event taking place.

0:50:26 > 0:50:31Isn't there?Yes!The Countryfile ramble for Children in Need in

0:50:31 > 0:50:35Northern Ireland. Is everybody ready to ramble? Let's go!

0:50:37 > 0:50:42My ramble is designed to be accessible to everyone. Starting and

0:50:42 > 0:50:47ending beside the castle, we'll follow a circular trailer almost two

0:50:47 > 0:50:52and a half miles long around the estate's rust natural lake. Today's

0:50:52 > 0:50:56Ramblers have joined us from across Northern Ireland, all walking to

0:50:56 > 0:51:01raise money for charities close to their hearts.Pity it has been

0:51:01 > 0:51:05drizzling a bit today.Where Northern Irish, this is our

0:51:05 > 0:51:13sunshine, we quite like it.He's doing it the easy way, isn't it?For

0:51:13 > 0:51:20some of our Ramblers, this event is even more personal. People like

0:51:20 > 0:51:24Ashley Robinson. Children in Need is helping her through a project 25

0:51:24 > 0:51:32miles away. Hello. Why have you come on the ramble today?I felt like I

0:51:32 > 0:51:38needed to be on the ramble. I feel that it's important for me to do the

0:51:38 > 0:51:42ramble even though I've got special needs and stuff. Walking does make

0:51:42 > 0:51:48it quite hard, but I'm going fine and if I need to stop I'll stop.

0:51:48 > 0:51:53Stop if you feel you have too. She is affected by Williams syndrome, a

0:51:53 > 0:51:56genetic condition which can lead to medical problems including

0:51:56 > 0:52:01cardiovascular disease and it can also cause learning difficulties.

0:52:01 > 0:52:07She is helped by the yes programme won by the YMCA. She and her friends

0:52:07 > 0:52:11from the group have all come along to join in the ramble.

0:52:16 > 0:52:20The programme is funded by Children in Need, it gives young people with

0:52:20 > 0:52:24special needs and learning difficulties the chance to take part

0:52:24 > 0:52:29in activities they wouldn't normally have access to. With Williams

0:52:29 > 0:52:32syndrome, something like canoeing would be impossible for Ashley

0:52:32 > 0:52:43without their support.Being on the canoes today was very fun. It was

0:52:43 > 0:52:49unreal. As you could probably see, my strength with the canoe was not

0:52:49 > 0:52:56good. The paddling was difficult. People with Williams syndrome have

0:52:56 > 0:53:01to deal with their tiredness. The programme not only get them

0:53:01 > 0:53:06outdoors, it also provides life skills and promotes independence.

0:53:06 > 0:53:10Youth worker Johnny Hill sees first-hand how it transforms lives.

0:53:10 > 0:53:14It offers respite for the family but aside from that it's a great place

0:53:14 > 0:53:19for the young people to learn and do new things, to try new activities,

0:53:19 > 0:53:24do stuff they don't always get the opportunity to do.Ashley's

0:53:24 > 0:53:27condition isn't just physical, it also affects her social

0:53:27 > 0:53:31interactions, leaving her unable to go out alone. A safe space to mix

0:53:31 > 0:53:36with others of her own age is critical.Big smiles! The changes

0:53:36 > 0:53:41I've seen in her, she's getting more involved in different things. She's

0:53:41 > 0:53:46so social, she's one of the people who travels around the centre and is

0:53:46 > 0:53:52friends with everybody.Above all, the Yes programme offers young

0:53:52 > 0:53:55people like Aisling a lifeline against lowliness.It's good to feel

0:53:55 > 0:54:06good about yourself and not let comments get you down. On the way

0:54:06 > 0:54:11you affected by Williams syndrome. They don't judge us whatsoever.With

0:54:11 > 0:54:16her Williams syndrome, the distance is taking its toll on Aisling. My

0:54:16 > 0:54:21back was starting to hurt so I had to let her sit down. Get a chocolate

0:54:21 > 0:54:28bar into me. That's why I was a bit behind.A chopper bar has done a bit

0:54:28 > 0:54:35of wonder has it?Yeah.Lets try and catch up with the others shall we?

0:54:35 > 0:54:39She's fiercely determined but a short while later she is exhausted

0:54:39 > 0:54:44and decides to hitch a lift in the support vehicle. Even though she is

0:54:44 > 0:54:49too tired to continue, Aisling is determined to be there for her

0:54:49 > 0:54:53friends from Yes at the finish line.

0:54:57 > 0:55:07CHEERING

0:55:07 > 0:55:10How are you now?Are you all

0:55:21 > 0:55:24To donate £10, text the word donates...

0:55:38 > 0:55:43Well, as well as our Ramblers many more of you do your thing for

0:55:43 > 0:55:47Children in Need each and every year.Come on, what's wrong with

0:55:47 > 0:55:50you? Come on...

0:57:27 > 0:57:35We're on our way. I've got my gavel here. A meet and greet the 24th of

0:57:35 > 0:57:45March with 100 quid. The best six bids we get we'll take them.

0:58:17 > 0:58:24More music from Friday night. This year's official Children in Need

0:58:24 > 0:58:29single, sung by Katie Melua. It is Fields of Gold.

0:58:38 > 0:58:48# Ooh

0:58:49 > 0:58:54# You'll remember me when the west wind moves

0:58:54 > 0:59:03# Among the fields of barley

0:59:03 > 0:59:08# You can tell the sun in his jealous sky

0:59:08 > 0:59:15# When we walked in fields of gold

0:59:15 > 0:59:21# So she took her love for to gaze awhile

0:59:21 > 0:59:26# Among the fields of barley

0:59:26 > 0:59:34# In his arms she fell as her hair came down

0:59:34 > 0:59:40# Among the fields of gold

0:59:40 > 0:59:46# Will you stay with me? Will you be my love

0:59:46 > 0:59:51# Among the fields of barley?

0:59:51 > 0:59:58# You can tell the sun in his jealous sky

0:59:58 > 1:00:06# When we walked in fields of gold

1:00:06 > 1:00:13# I never made promises lightly

1:00:13 > 1:00:19# And there have been some that I've broken

1:00:19 > 1:00:25# But I swear in the days still left

1:00:25 > 1:00:29# We'll walk in fields of gold

1:00:29 > 1:00:37# We'll walk in fields of gold

1:00:37 > 1:00:46# Ooh

1:00:48 > 1:00:56# Many years have passed since those summer days

1:00:56 > 1:01:01# Among the fields of barley

1:01:01 > 1:01:08# See the children run as the sun goes down

1:01:08 > 1:01:15# As you lie in fields of gold

1:01:15 > 1:01:22# You'll remember me when the west wind moves

1:01:22 > 1:01:27# Among the fields of barley

1:01:27 > 1:01:33# You can tell the sun in his jealous sky

1:01:33 > 1:01:38# When we walked in fields of gold

1:01:40 > 1:01:46# When we walked in fields of gold

1:01:46 > 1:01:56# When we walked in fields of gold. #

1:02:01 > 1:02:03CHEERING AND APPLAUSE.

1:02:06 > 1:02:10Oh, what a beautiful song, with all the proceeds of course going to

1:02:10 > 1:02:14Children in Need. Together with your donations we can make a difference

1:02:14 > 1:02:18to the lives of children and young people right across Northern

1:02:18 > 1:02:26Ireland. Your generosity has helped young people like Se.

1:02:43 > 1:02:51I'm 17 and I identify as non-binary. Non-binary means a lot of different

1:02:51 > 1:02:56things to different people and in my case it means I don't fit in with

1:02:56 > 1:03:06bag boy or a girl. Although I was born male gendered. When I went to a

1:03:06 > 1:03:10rural school, it was all people who aren't always open-minded and that

1:03:10 > 1:03:16was rough in high school. I was bullied all the way up to my final

1:03:16 > 1:03:22year and it's not fun. Especially when everything they target multiple

1:03:22 > 1:03:30things like being gay, being alternative and being overweight.

1:03:40 > 1:03:44It is an organisation for gay and transgender young people and we work

1:03:44 > 1:03:50all over Northern Ireland. First how we help people is connect them to

1:03:50 > 1:03:53other young people in a safe space where they can come and be

1:03:53 > 1:03:59themselves. They know the people who work here are LGBT, but they're

1:03:59 > 1:04:03supportive of the young people who come in. We do a lot of youth work

1:04:03 > 1:04:08with the young people in terms of improving mental health and

1:04:08 > 1:04:13resilience and also tackling that social isolation which is one of

1:04:13 > 1:04:16biggest contributors to their mental health issues. We are working with

1:04:16 > 1:04:21young people who are quite vulnerable and in some instances who

1:04:21 > 1:04:25are very vulnerable and quite regularly we may have a young person

1:04:25 > 1:04:31who comes in who has just attempted to take their own life and that is

1:04:31 > 1:04:36all too regular. The mental health issues cannot be overstated. It is

1:04:36 > 1:04:40incredibly important to receive that funding from Children in Need,

1:04:40 > 1:04:45without it we would be massively under-resourced and when an

1:04:45 > 1:04:49organisation like Car Friend is under-resourced you have some

1:04:49 > 1:04:53vulnerable people being left out and some people will say they could go

1:04:53 > 1:05:01to any youth club. But the reality is that experience isn't all good.

1:05:01 > 1:05:07We deal with the people who don't have a good experience. It is

1:05:07 > 1:05:11important that we are there for those young people. It is important

1:05:11 > 1:05:16for Shay to tell their story, because there is a lot of empowered

1:05:16 > 1:05:22in sharing your own personal experience. And also it is important

1:05:22 > 1:05:29for Shay to share that experience so other people might find some

1:05:29 > 1:05:33strength in it and other people will know that there is light at the end

1:05:33 > 1:05:38of the tunnel if they don't feel great about who they are and there

1:05:38 > 1:05:45is always an another option. From my lowest point, Car Friend has nothing

1:05:45 > 1:05:50but support and it was never judgmental, it was, I know what

1:05:50 > 1:05:54you're going through, I have been there myself and here is whey want

1:05:54 > 1:06:01to help you. The Shay that walked into Car Friend didn't speak to

1:06:01 > 1:06:06anyone. The first time I went in I walked in and hid in the corner. But

1:06:06 > 1:06:14the Shay I am now is... Mature and grown nearly an adult. And I just

1:06:14 > 1:06:20feel like a better human and a better person for... Unleashing

1:06:20 > 1:06:28what's inside. It is not just the LGBT community who benefits, it is

1:06:28 > 1:06:35society in general. We are working to improve the lived experiences of

1:06:35 > 1:06:40LGBT across Northern Ireland and that makes society in Northern

1:06:40 > 1:06:44Ireland a better place.

1:06:49 > 1:06:53That is one of many groups in Northern Ireland where your

1:06:53 > 1:06:57donations make a difference. So thank you. To help them keep on

1:06:57 > 1:07:00going, why not do your thing for this year's Children in Need. To

1:07:00 > 1:07:04find out more and to donate go to the web-site.

1:07:25 > 1:07:32You do change the lives of thousand of young people in Northern Ireland.

1:07:32 > 1:07:36That is almost it from Children in Need. But we have one more special

1:07:36 > 1:07:40performance. This year's Northern Ireland Children in Need Choir.On

1:07:40 > 1:07:45Friday night, they sang live and in Unison with thousands of other

1:07:45 > 1:07:52children across the UK and now they're going to sing just for you.

1:07:52 > 1:07:58From five schools in Northern Ireland, singing Somewhere Over The

1:07:58 > 1:08:02Rainbow, please enjoy this year's Children in Need Choir. Thanks for

1:08:02 > 1:08:05supporting us.See you next year.

1:08:39 > 1:08:40# Somewhere over the rainbow

1:08:40 > 1:08:41# Way up high

1:08:41 > 1:08:43# There's a land that I heard of

1:08:43 > 1:08:44# Once in a lullaby

1:08:45 > 1:08:48# Skies are blue

1:08:59 > 1:09:03# Someday I'll wish upon a star

1:09:03 > 1:09:05# And wake up where the clouds are far

1:09:05 > 1:09:13# Behind me

1:09:13 > 1:09:16# Where troubles melt like lemon drops
