0:00:30 > 0:00:34- There we were, having fun, - when one lad turned and said...
0:00:34 > 0:00:38- .."That's a big candle - in the window of the Talbot."
0:00:38 > 0:00:42- He was referring - to the window in the corner.
0:00:42 > 0:00:44- We all turned to look...
0:00:44 > 0:00:47- ..and agreed that yes, - it was a big candle.
0:00:47 > 0:00:51- One lad said, "That's not a candle, - they're flames!"
0:00:51 > 0:00:55- The longer we looked at the window, - the bigger the flames got.
0:00:56 > 0:00:58- They got bigger and bigger.
0:01:01 > 0:01:04- We rushed into the bar here.
0:01:05 > 0:01:08- It was packed - with male voice and mixed choirs.
0:01:09 > 0:01:13- People were having fun, - socializing, eating and drinking.
0:01:13 > 0:01:17- It was heaving, and trying to get - anyone's attention was a job.
0:01:20 > 0:01:23- We came in and shouted - at Elen behind the bar.
0:01:24 > 0:01:26- "Elen, there's a fire upstairs!"
0:01:26 > 0:01:31- She said, "You shouldn't be - in here, you're under age. Out!"
0:01:31 > 0:01:36- I pleaded with her, "Elen, there's - a fire upstairs, believe me!"
0:01:36 > 0:01:40- But no-one believed us, - except for one person.
0:01:41 > 0:01:42- Fat Sam.
0:01:43 > 0:01:47- Fat Sam ran the Talbot at the time, - and he believed us.
0:01:47 > 0:01:50- He shouted, - "Boys, come with me, come to help!"
0:01:51 > 0:01:54- "Grab anything you can - to douse the flames!"
0:01:55 > 0:01:57- In we came, into the room.
0:01:57 > 0:01:59- It has changed a lot.
0:01:59 > 0:02:01- It was a lounge back then.
0:02:01 > 0:02:05- I remember coming in - and the curtains were well alight.

0:02:08 > 0:02:10- There was a sofa here, also on fire.
0:02:10 > 0:02:14- We grabbed whatever we could - to try to beat out the flames.
0:02:15 > 0:02:17- We beat them and beat them.
0:02:18 > 0:02:20- But the flames were too big.
0:02:20 > 0:02:23- The smoke and flames - got the better of us.
0:02:23 > 0:02:26- Our eyes and throats burned.
0:02:26 > 0:02:32- Fat Sam shouted, "Boys, let it be, - we can't do any more."
0:02:32 > 0:02:37- "Let it be, we can't do any more. - Get out, boys, get out."
0:02:38 > 0:02:41- And we escaped - from the fire's clutches.
0:02:46 > 0:02:49- Out we came, coughing and spitting.
0:02:49 > 0:02:52- The smoke and flames had beaten us.
0:02:52 > 0:02:56- The male voice choirs swarmed out - and everyone left the building.
0:02:57 > 0:03:01- Thankfully, seconds later, - the fire brigade arrived...
0:03:01 > 0:03:04- ..and extinguished the fire.
0:03:04 > 0:03:07- People often ask, - "Where is Tregaron?"
0:03:07 > 0:03:11- The answer they get is, - "Outside the Talbot!"
0:03:11 > 0:03:14- But if we hadn't seen - the flames that night...
0:03:14 > 0:03:17- ..would the Talbot - still be here today?
0:03:18 > 0:03:20- Hm. I fancy a pint.
