0:31:38 > 0:31:43- ..are we prepared to look after it.

0:31:44 > 0:31:47- Don't buy it - if you don't want the hassle.

0:31:47 > 0:31:51- Years ago, - they used to fix everything.

0:31:51 > 0:31:55- These days, if we find a hole, - we throw it away.

0:32:00 > 0:32:05- These days, clothes are much cheaper - and we don't need to fix them.

0:32:05 > 0:32:07- I'm going to start here.

0:32:07 > 0:32:10- I was asked how to repair - a moth hole.

0:32:10 > 0:32:15- The first thing you should do - is put the garment in the freezer...

0:32:15 > 0:32:16- ..for 24 hours.

0:32:17 > 0:32:21- Remove it, let it dissolve and put - it back in for another 24 hours...

0:32:21 > 0:32:23- ..and then wash it.

0:32:23 > 0:32:27- The eggs or anything left by the - moth around the hole will die.

0:32:27 > 0:32:33- If you put it on the usual 30 degree - wash, the eggs will survive.

0:32:33 > 0:32:35- That's very important.

0:32:35 > 0:32:38- You should also rid of the moths - in the house.

0:32:39 > 0:32:42- Yes, definitely.

0:32:42 > 0:32:45- There's hole in this cardigan.

0:32:45 > 0:32:51- I'll put my finger through it so you - can see, but don't do this at home.

0:32:51 > 0:32:55- The old fashioned way of repairing - a hole is by using one of these.

0:32:55 > 0:32:58- Place it behind the hole...

0:32:58 > 0:33:03- ..and firstly, you sew around the - hole and then do a basket weave.

0:33:04 > 0:33:06- I've never seen one of them before.

0:33:06 > 0:33:08- I've never seen one of them before.- - I don't know how to use it.

0:33:08 > 0:33:12- If you use thread, - you can make the hole disappear.

0:33:12 > 0:33:17- If there's a pocket on the garment - there's spare material.

0:33:17 > 0:33:19- It's always an option...

0:33:19 > 0:33:23- ..to make a patch using the material - of the pocket.

0:33:23 > 0:33:27- The younger generation pay a lot - for clothes with holes in them.

0:33:28 > 0:33:31- I've got another cardigan tip.

0:33:31 > 0:33:35- This tip will help - you rid of bobbles.

0:33:35 > 0:33:37- Use a Velcro roller.

0:33:38 > 0:33:42- You can purchase six of these - rollers for a 1 in Wilkinson'.

0:33:42 > 0:33:44- Just remove the bobbles.

0:33:45 > 0:33:48- You can pay to buy a machine - to remove the bobbles.

0:33:48 > 0:33:50- This does a good job.

0:33:50 > 0:33:54- It isn't strong enough - to do any damage.

0:33:54 > 0:33:55- Fantastic.

0:33:55 > 0:33:57- Fantastic.- - You can use them multiple times.

0:33:57 > 0:34:00- It can happen to expensive jumpers.

0:34:00 > 0:34:05- This is a soft method, - which won't damage the garment.

0:34:05 > 0:34:07- I've got a few small bits here.

0:34:08 > 0:34:10- If you want to do a quick hem...

0:34:11 > 0:34:13- ..this iron on hemming web is great.

0:34:13 > 0:34:15- That's my favourite thing.

0:34:15 > 0:34:16- That's my favourite thing.- - I use a lot of it.

0:34:17 > 0:34:21- There are also patches available - to sew under a hole.

0:34:21 > 0:34:24- This is how we use to fix jeans.

0:34:24 > 0:34:27- We would use a real patch - to fix jeans in the past.

0:34:27 > 0:34:30- It takes a lot of effort...

0:34:30 > 0:34:33- ..and clothes don't last - that long anymore.

0:34:34 > 0:34:40- The younger generation like to have - clothes that look like this.

0:34:40 > 0:34:43- I've got another jeans tip.

0:34:43 > 0:34:47- If a zip refuses to stay up and - you think you need a new zip...

0:34:47 > 0:34:49- ..don't change it.

0:34:50 > 0:34:55- Use the ring of a keyring, - close the zip...

0:34:55 > 0:35:00- ..place the ring around the button - and close it.

0:35:00 > 0:35:02- That's a great tip.

0:35:03 > 0:35:07- You don't have to remove the ring - to go to the toilet.

0:35:07 > 0:35:10- I like that idea.

0:35:10 > 0:35:14- Keep buttons that come - with the garments together.

0:35:14 > 0:35:18- Some give you pieces of fabric - in a pack.

0:35:18 > 0:35:20- Should we keep them - in the same place?

0:35:21 > 0:35:23- Yes, keep them all in one box.

0:35:23 > 0:35:26- I've got a few older tips.

0:35:27 > 0:35:30- If you have a favourite shirt...

0:35:31 > 0:35:33- ..but have worn the collar out...

0:35:34 > 0:35:38- ..remove the collar and - turn it around.

0:35:38 > 0:35:44- The inside won't show - when you bend the collar over.

0:35:44 > 0:35:46- It saves throwing the shirt.

0:35:47 > 0:35:53- For a cheap shirt, there's no point, - but it's worth it for a special one.

0:35:53 > 0:35:57- Sometimes, women wear blouses - that gape around the bust area.

0:35:57 > 0:35:59- The blouse isn't too small...

0:36:00 > 0:36:04- ..but shows that the buttons - are in the wrong place for you.

0:36:04 > 0:36:09- I sew between the buttons to make - sure that it doesn't gape.

0:36:09 > 0:36:13- To wear it, - I pull the blouse over my head.

0:36:13 > 0:36:18- Only sew between - the nuisance buttons.

0:36:18 > 0:36:22- Shrinking is another big problem.

0:36:22 > 0:36:27- This is supposed to be a size 12.

0:36:28 > 0:36:33- If you soak it in hair conditioner - for an hour and rinse it out...

0:36:34 > 0:36:37- ..before removing most of the - water with a towel...
