0:02:30 > 0:02:34- He was a Welsh speaker - and wanted me to learn Welsh.

0:02:35 > 0:02:39- I attended evening classes, - but they were unsuccessful...

0:02:39 > 0:02:44- ..as they didn't use - everyday language.

0:02:45 > 0:02:51- After marrying, we moved to North - Wales and I did an Wlpan course.

0:02:51 > 0:02:55- It was the first Wlpan course - in Denbighshire.

0:02:55 > 0:02:59- It was a lot of fun, - the people were great...

0:02:59 > 0:03:05- ..and we learnt the language - that we would use every day.

0:03:10 > 0:03:14- Learning any language - can be difficult.

0:03:14 > 0:03:19- But when I was in school, - I studied French and German.

0:03:19 > 0:03:22- I felt a lot more comfortable - learning Welsh.

0:03:29 > 0:03:35- I had a warm feeling inside - when I started learning Welsh.

0:03:46 > 0:03:51- ..and I didn't want to upset - my father by asking him questions.

0:20:25 > 0:20:30- When I got home, I didn't feel well - and had a urine infection.

0:20:30 > 0:20:34- I was so ill...

0:20:34 > 0:20:37- ..I thought I was dying.

0:20:37 > 0:20:43- It was then Mam phoned an ambulance.

0:20:43 > 0:20:46- After arriving at the hospital...

0:20:46 > 0:20:50- ..I discovered that I had sepsis...

0:20:50 > 0:20:54- ..which killed both my kidneys.

0:20:54 > 0:20:56- Two years ago...

0:20:56 > 0:21:01- ..I recall Mam calling me - to say that she was in hospital.

0:21:02 > 0:21:06- When I arrived, - she was in a hospital bed...

0:21:06 > 0:21:11- ..and was swollen - due to the illness.

0:21:12 > 0:21:15- I was shocked.

0:21:15 > 0:21:21- I wanted to know what I could do and - Mam said she needed a new kidney.

0:21:21 > 0:21:24- I put myself forward, - without question.

0:21:28 > 0:21:32- I was in hospital for six weeks...

0:21:33 > 0:21:38- ..but returned for dialysis - three times a week...

0:21:38 > 0:21:42- ..for 18 months.

0:21:42 > 0:21:45- That was before I received - the transplant last April.

0:21:46 > 0:21:52- We've always been close - and we also look alike.

0:21:52 > 0:21:58- We've always been close, but the - transplant has made us even closer.

0:21:58 > 0:22:02- I'm thankful every day.

0:22:02 > 0:22:07- I can't explain how grateful - I am to Sharon.

0:22:07 > 0:22:12- I can live my life...

0:22:12 > 0:22:15- ..and watch my daughter grow.

0:22:41 > 0:22:45- I came back to North Wales and - went to visit the doctor.

0:22:45 > 0:22:48- The doctor sent me straight - to Ysbyty Gwynedd.

0:22:50 > 0:22:55- ..and discovered I was in the - early stages of kidney failure.

0:22:55 > 0:22:59- Six of us were tested and - it then came down to three...

0:22:59 > 0:23:04- ..myself, Mam and our brother, - Dafydd were matches.

0:23:04 > 0:23:09- Ysbyty Gwynedd told us - that I was the perfect match.

0:23:09 > 0:23:15- I left work to celebrate that - I could give my kidney to Llio.

0:23:15 > 0:23:20- Today, being healthy, I realize - how ill I was at the time.

0:23:21 > 0:23:26- It has given me the gift of life and - the kidneys are so important.

0:23:27 > 0:23:29- Without Ffion, I wouldn't be here.

0:23:30 > 0:23:34- World Kidney Day is very important.

0:23:34 > 0:23:38- Without receiving a kidney - from Sharon...

0:23:39 > 0:23:41- ..I wouldn't be here today.

0:23:42 > 0:23:45- The process is long, - but worth it in the end.
