0:23:49 > 0:23:51my troubles seemed like a distant memory.

0:23:57 > 0:24:02But before I left, I needed to visit one of the great icons of Brazil,

0:24:02 > 0:24:05Cristo Redentor, the statue of Christ the Redeemer.

0:24:11 > 0:24:14It was a long journey up the steep mountainside by cable car

0:24:14 > 0:24:16to the base of the statue.

0:24:16 > 0:24:19And as the mist rolled in, it was impossible to tell

0:24:19 > 0:24:22if I'd have a clear view of the incredible landmark when I arrived.

0:24:34 > 0:24:37For some reason, I imagined that the statue would be

0:24:37 > 0:24:41a quiet, tranquil place set high above the madness of city life,

0:24:41 > 0:24:44but when I arrived the place was packed with tourists,

0:24:44 > 0:24:46all trying to get a picture of the gigantic statue.

0:25:07 > 0:25:11I needed a way to create a lasting memory of my trip to Rio,

0:25:11 > 0:25:14an image that would forever remind me of this magnificent city.
