:00:14. > :00:18.Welcome to the Flowerpot Where we are asked to transform
:00:18. > :00:22.neglected pieces of larnd into life-changing spaces.
:00:22. > :00:26.We are travelling the length and breath of the UK, rescuing wasted
:00:26. > :00:30.green areas. So boys, are we ready for business?
:00:30. > :00:38.But we won't be doing it on our own, you, the great British public, will
:00:38. > :00:43.be helping us. It will be quite a journey.
:00:43. > :00:49.gardening guru, Joe, is in charge of the transformation. Green light
:00:49. > :00:56.coming this way, one, two, three. Anneka will go out and about to get
:00:56. > :01:02.you to join our gang. David, you're on our team.
:01:02. > :01:07.And Phil will be giving it his all. Still got t used to play for
:01:07. > :01:12.England you know: As well as learning what it takes to become a
:01:12. > :01:16.gardener. Is he tough enough? there a Mani where. Today we are in
:01:16. > :01:20.the East End of London, where we will create a garden for local kids
:01:21. > :01:24.on an estate, where there are open space, but they can't use them.
:01:24. > :01:29.Because of anti-social behaviour they have to be locked up. They
:01:29. > :01:33.have nothing to do, so they are climbing over the gardens and
:01:33. > :01:38.spoiling them. Ten minutes away from here is the Olympic Park with
:01:38. > :01:41.its fantastic wild meadows. It is really frustrating for the Pop-Up
:01:41. > :01:44.Shop residents, who can see the possibility of regeneration of
:01:44. > :01:49.their own, literally locked away from them. What would the kids and
:01:49. > :01:55.families do around here, if only they had a garden space. Nine-year-
:01:55. > :01:59.old Jadeen knows what he would do. Grow lots of vegtables, play with
:01:59. > :02:09.my friends in the garden. Say, mum can I go to the garden, and she
:02:09. > :02:10.
:02:10. > :02:13.would probably say, yes. We will turn this no-go area into a garden.
:02:13. > :02:19.It is usually under lock and key, but we will change all that.
:02:19. > :02:25.don't do it on our own, we hope the locals will join in and help create
:02:25. > :02:31.their own little oasis in the city. Despite nurse ago foot injury, Joe
:02:31. > :02:35.is raring to get going. This project is close to my heart A
:02:35. > :02:40.proper community garden, taking over a disused piece of land,
:02:40. > :02:45.allowing the community to grow fruit, vegtables and flowers, and
:02:45. > :02:48.bringing them lose cloer together. -- Closer together through
:02:48. > :02:53.gardening. There will be good times and bad times, when the rain that
:02:53. > :02:57.has plaged us all summer, hits Pop- Up Shop. Beautiful, English summer!
:02:57. > :03:07.It won't be just the plants that grow here, hopefully Jayden and the
:03:07. > :03:08.
:03:08. > :03:11.other kids will too. Last week he asked you to celebrate our garden
:03:11. > :03:21.here in Poplar. Later on in the programme you can
:03:21. > :03:26.
:03:26. > :03:29.see if we pulled it off. The Teviot Estate, may only be a
:03:29. > :03:33.stone's throw from the prosperous City of London. It is around the
:03:33. > :03:38.corner over there somewhere. the environment couldn't be more
:03:38. > :03:42.different. Sandwiched between affluent Docklands and an Olympic
:03:42. > :03:45.Park that cost billions, this is an area that has often been overlooked.
:03:46. > :03:52.It is a typical inner city area, that's very urban, and very built-
:03:52. > :03:56.There are some green patches, but they have been locked away so they
:03:56. > :04:01.don't get vandalised. That is why we have been invited here by the
:04:01. > :04:05.residents. To turn one of these spaces into somewhere for everyone
:04:05. > :04:09.to enjoy. That's what we are going to do. Along with some help from
:04:10. > :04:13.the locals. We are going to make somewhere for
:04:13. > :04:17.everyone to play, relax and grow lots of fruit and vegtables.
:04:17. > :04:24.We only have ten days to do it, with the support from this lot, we
:04:24. > :04:28.can do it, gang! Right round the corner from this
:04:28. > :04:33.wasted space, is a tiny, top floor flat, that's home to Jayden, his
:04:33. > :04:37.two little brothers, and his mum, Peppa.
:04:37. > :04:42.It's a squeeze. The only outdoors space to grow things is this tiny
:04:42. > :04:51.balcony. But it is no good for Jayden, who dreams of being a
:04:51. > :05:01.little Joe Swift. This is my book, it is called Grow It Eat It. This
:05:01. > :05:01.
:05:01. > :05:08.is it. It is very cheap. This book is quite useful, because it shows
:05:08. > :05:14.you how to do stuff, it shows you what you need to make all of these
:05:14. > :05:20.vegtables, like carrots, they are my best ones. Jayden spends hours
:05:20. > :05:25.pouring over his favourite book. He's desperate to grow his own
:05:25. > :05:30.fruit and vegtables. Because his real big love is cooking. Look at
:05:30. > :05:40.these one, good bunches. These are good mushrooms. Getting a garden
:05:40. > :05:45.would change this little lad's life. I like to go and grow aubergines,
:05:45. > :05:54.water melons, all stuff. They are hard work, but I'm up for it, I
:05:54. > :06:02.could participate really well. Broccoli, yeah. Jayden is obviously
:06:02. > :06:06.a bright kid, but life isn't always easy for him, as his mum, Peppa,
:06:06. > :06:09.explains. Jayden has special needs, and he attends a special school.
:06:09. > :06:14.He's bright, but he has communication difficulties. So I
:06:14. > :06:21.think he finds it difficult to make relationships, and maintain
:06:21. > :06:27.relationships. Because he doesn't really get how to deal with people.
:06:27. > :06:32.School is really good, I like it. You can learn stuff. Communicate
:06:32. > :06:38.with children, other children, make friends with them. They sometimes
:06:38. > :06:45.bully me. I feel sad in my heart, but a bit angry, but I just let it
:06:45. > :06:50.out, I don't get angry at them, or swear or anything. I just ignore it.
:06:50. > :06:56.I think having a garden for Jayden would give him, you know, a real
:06:56. > :07:04.sense of a chee., because he -- achievement, because he could say,
:07:04. > :07:10.look at what I have done. Jayden goes to an afterschool club on the
:07:10. > :07:15.estate, run by local hero, Jackie. Listen up, what you can do, is dip
:07:15. > :07:21.the cotton wool into the water. Jackie's been fighting for years to
:07:21. > :07:25.open up the locked garden for the kids. There's a real need for them
:07:25. > :07:34.to have this base, and to have a garden. They are desperate to get
:07:34. > :07:39.out and do some gardening. Jackie and Peppa have asked to us us to
:07:39. > :07:42.literally unlock this wasted space and give everyone a garden.
:07:42. > :07:47.There's a lot riding on this garden, all over the estate there are
:07:47. > :07:51.spaces that are locked up. If we can transform this one, it could be
:07:51. > :07:59.the catalyst that opens up all the other gardens, a model for locked
:07:59. > :08:04.gardens on estates all over Britain. Time to get started, and we're
:08:04. > :08:07.already a man down. Swifty has a damaged arm, and was on the
:08:08. > :08:13.operating table last night getting fixed up. There is no way he will
:08:13. > :08:16.be getting his sleeves rolled up today, skiver. I was really looking
:08:16. > :08:22.forward to getting stuck into this one, physically, as well as using
:08:22. > :08:27.my design skills. But my arm, well, it's a sporting injury, let's call
:08:27. > :08:36.it that, means I can't do any physical work at all. I'm relying
:08:36. > :08:46.on Anneka and Tuffers, and he's getting the hang of it, so he will
:08:46. > :08:47.
:08:47. > :08:52.work harder. Here he is. Sportering injury. Yes! You had a few injuries
:08:52. > :08:58.didn't you Tuffers? Injury-free, all my career. You weren't working
:08:58. > :09:08.hard enough, not like me, I put everything into it and end up like
:09:08. > :09:13.
:09:13. > :09:18.this. Can I hold the plans. It is informal de -- design. It is like
:09:19. > :09:25.the square but as will and community space. Despite not being
:09:25. > :09:29.match fit, Joe has come up with a cracking design, inspired by the
:09:29. > :09:34.London Square, there are paths to each of the corners. Where they
:09:34. > :09:43.dissect each other, they have this form al -- formal space we can do
:09:43. > :09:47.something with it. Between the My Path And My Detourss are four
:09:47. > :09:57.flower beds. We will have formal structure, which means colour in
:09:57. > :10:03.there. For Jayden and the other -- between the four paths there are
:10:03. > :10:08.four flower beds. We will have formal structure. Which means
:10:08. > :10:12.colour. For Jayden there will be vegtable paths and wild flowers for
:10:12. > :10:19.the concrete jungle. For the old Erez deoints, Joe's creating two
:10:19. > :10:25.seating areas, with benches for relaxing. A wooden pergula will
:10:25. > :10:30.have composting bays, a shed to keep toolsself, and an area to
:10:30. > :10:34.attract bugs. Joe will plant tall magnolia trees to soften the harsh
:10:34. > :10:42.concrete. Hopefully we will have time to come up with a stunning
:10:42. > :10:47.centre piece. It is all planting- heavy this. With my arm like this.
:10:48. > :10:53.Joe needs to take it easy on this one, so like it or lump it, we are
:10:53. > :11:00.doing all the work. Our first job is to mark out Joe's design. He has
:11:00. > :11:05.his bady eye on us. It is not as easy -- Beady eye on us. It is not
:11:05. > :11:10.as easy as it looks, we want it how Joe wants it. We don't want it
:11:10. > :11:20.wrong from the start. I will tell you what to do, have a race. On
:11:20. > :11:26.
:11:26. > :11:31.your marks, get set, go. I'm going to get out of my chair. Lovely.
:11:31. > :11:35.There is a heck of a lot to do on this one. We are going to need big
:11:35. > :11:41.machines, and lots of muscle. going to get the digger to strip
:11:41. > :11:45.out all the turf, and also dig out where the plants are going, and
:11:45. > :11:49.then we need serious man power. Have you met all the people round
:11:49. > :11:55.and about. No. You better go and say hello, and introduce ourselves.
:11:55. > :12:00.He said this one would be easy. always said that, haven't you
:12:00. > :12:03.noticed. This garden has been Jayden's mum, Peppa's dream for a
:12:03. > :12:08.long time. To make it special, we are asking her to stay away until
:12:08. > :12:12.it is nearly finished in nine days time. Jayden can hopefully surprise
:12:12. > :12:17.her what has been done. We will have a day at the end of August,
:12:17. > :12:20.where we will get it perfect for the grand opening, with as many
:12:21. > :12:26.volunteer as possible. We want Peppa to see it before the crowds
:12:26. > :12:32.descend. So, Peppa, this will be our last look at the garden before
:12:32. > :12:36.we transform it. Are you excited? am really excited, I can't envision
:12:36. > :12:40.what it will be like, it will be really difficult to stay away.
:12:40. > :12:45.Jayden what do you want out of the garden. You go to the afterschool
:12:45. > :12:49.club here. Is that good fun? Yeah, really good fun. I might want to
:12:49. > :12:53.bring my friends over. Yeah? grow lots of stuff, fruit and veg,
:12:53. > :13:01.and nice flowers, daisys. Are you going to get your mates to get
:13:01. > :13:05.stuck in and help us. Yeah. Peppa, no peeping. I won't peep, I promise.
:13:05. > :13:12.Jayden you make sure your mum won't have a peep when we are all gone.
:13:12. > :13:21.We will see you back soon. Yeah. Bring on the diggers. First job is
:13:21. > :13:24.to strip all this turf off. It a big moment for Jackie, this is
:13:24. > :13:30.her dream. She knows what a difference it could make to the
:13:30. > :13:37.kids in the community. How many years have you been
:13:37. > :13:41.working on the dream of getting the garden open? About 20 years, from
:13:41. > :13:45.the Mudchute, coming from there, and being a voluntary worker in the
:13:45. > :13:48.community. Where does the passion come from? You want to see people
:13:48. > :13:53.happy, and people not to be stuck in their houses, and come out and
:13:53. > :13:56.be valued and believe in their selves, and their children.
:13:56. > :14:01.might be tough getting the whole community involved with this one.
:14:01. > :14:05.It has been a long time since anyone enjoyed these spaces.
:14:05. > :14:14.Vandalism has kept people away, so we're going to erect a trellis
:14:14. > :14:18.around the whole plot, so everyone feels a little bit safer. The whole
:14:18. > :14:23.idea behind this garden is not only to provide a central space where
:14:23. > :14:28.all the community can gather, but also to provide an on going project
:14:28. > :14:33.for the residents, so they can take pride in maintaining and protecting
:14:34. > :14:39.No sooner have we started and the inevitable happens. Yes, here comes
:14:39. > :14:44.the rain, it has been the same with all our projects, in one of the
:14:44. > :14:50.wettest summers on record. There were showers in Sheffield. We got
:14:50. > :14:54.sodden in Sunderland. And it bucketed it down in Bristol. Is
:14:54. > :14:59.this the water feature, I love it. In Poplar it is pouring. But
:14:59. > :15:04.regardless of the rain, we have to get as many people on side if we
:15:04. > :15:10.are to get this garden done on time. It is a local garden, for local
:15:10. > :15:15.people, let's find some local people to help.
:15:15. > :15:17.Hello, can I ask you something? He looks like he might have local
:15:17. > :15:21.knowledge. What I need to do is find lots of
:15:21. > :15:26.volunteers to help us do digs, where would I find people who are
:15:27. > :15:30.big and strong. Can I follow you, and you show me.
:15:30. > :15:36.I'm a novice when it comes to rallying people in Poplar, Jackie
:15:36. > :15:40.knows who is who, and is confident to get gang together in no time.
:15:40. > :15:44.How much do you love me?! Do you want to come and get your
:15:45. > :15:53.wife involved in doing the growing. In the garden, what are we doing?
:15:53. > :15:58.Lots, come and try. Do you live around here, strong men. I know
:15:58. > :16:05.you're overworked, will you do one hour for me. This is not going to
:16:05. > :16:09.plan. Maybe people are just dying to help at the local hairdressers.
:16:09. > :16:13.That is not a moment to be caught in the hairdressers. Hello. Any
:16:13. > :16:20.chance that you know anyone who could come and help us with our
:16:20. > :16:25.project, we are doing around the corner, we need strong people? You
:16:25. > :16:30.don't speak English? Oh no, this is not a good combination, no face, no
:16:30. > :16:33.English. Would you like to come and help with the garden? You don't
:16:33. > :16:37.speak English. It seems getting volunteers is going to be tough.
:16:37. > :16:42.Maybe all the years of being locked out of this garden has turned
:16:42. > :16:48.everyone off the idea, I'm genuinely worried. Anneka's
:16:48. > :16:58.struggling, but we have to push on. Swifty has sent me off to sort out
:16:58. > :16:58.
:16:58. > :17:05.some seating. Hello, Danny, how are you. Very good. What an amazing
:17:05. > :17:09.place you have got here. It is a lot of fun. Joe has commissioned
:17:09. > :17:15.four lovely wooden benches for the seating areas, they are being hand
:17:15. > :17:18.made just for us. I thought I was going to do it manually, knife
:17:18. > :17:22.through butter! They are going to be little works of wooden art. The
:17:22. > :17:28.folk of Poplar, would never have had it so good. I can imagine them
:17:28. > :17:34.in those corners, having a nice sit down, relaxing in the sunshine.
:17:34. > :17:37.Sunshine, you're having a laugh. But there will be no garden to put
:17:37. > :17:40.them in, if Anneka doesn't find helpers.
:17:40. > :17:44.This is the street centre, there might be more grown up children
:17:44. > :17:48.here. We need lots of volunteers to help us. I know. The kids were
:17:48. > :17:51.saying there might be someone here. We have got a few young people,
:17:51. > :17:55.some are on their way, we are running late. You know there are
:17:55. > :17:59.all the gardens dotted around, they are all locked up and you can't get
:17:59. > :18:04.into them, we are trying to open up the area a bit. If it works. Yeah.
:18:04. > :18:07.Do you think it sounds good. Do you like the sound of that. That would
:18:07. > :18:13.be great. This community centre runs a youth group once a week,
:18:13. > :18:16.surely there are willing helpers in here. Are you doing your Duke of
:18:16. > :18:22.Edinburgh, have you heard about our project, we're hoping you might be
:18:22. > :18:25.able to come and help. The work is going to be manual, heavy, shifting
:18:25. > :18:30.of materials, and digging, and then a lot of planting, are you up for
:18:30. > :18:34.that? Of course. Thank you so much. That was a real bit of luck, all
:18:34. > :18:39.the kids in there, are doing their Duke of Edinburgh, they need to get
:18:39. > :18:47.stuck in with a project and acquire new skills and volunteer. So it
:18:47. > :18:55.couldn't be better for our project. The rain means even the keen can't
:18:55. > :18:59.get cracking. Today we had opened hoped to start
:18:59. > :19:04.digging out the paths, eblging their sides with timber, and --
:19:04. > :19:09.edging their sides with timber, and filling them with hardcore, but no
:19:09. > :19:16.chance in these conditions. How is it going, swimmingly well. All
:19:16. > :19:26.night I could hear the rain outside my bedroom window. We have another
:19:26. > :19:52.
:19:52. > :19:57.problem on our hand. No. We will have to plod on. Jayden and his
:19:57. > :20:02.brothers turn up. But captain Joe has a project for them. We have
:20:02. > :20:07.work to do. Not for human beings, we are making a hotel for bugs.
:20:07. > :20:11.Imagine you were a bug coming into the garden, where will you hide.
:20:11. > :20:16.Nowhere, there is nowhere to hide. If you are a lady bug, we are going
:20:16. > :20:19.to grow fruit and vegtables, we need things to pollenate the plant
:20:19. > :20:23.and make fruit and turn things into vegtables.
:20:23. > :20:33.I have stayed in a few hotels with bug, but never built one for them.
:20:33. > :20:36.
:20:36. > :20:41.We will do whatever the gaffer asks. It is like an airport. Coming in to
:20:41. > :20:47.land on. That is what they do, they land on. He has the hang of this,
:20:47. > :20:50.he knows exactly what they need. There's one. Has one turned it up.
:20:50. > :20:59.Because you have made such a lovely house. It is a hotel, they check in
:20:59. > :21:05.and out when they want. That is the point of the hotel. I have left
:21:05. > :21:09.Louis and Jayden building the hotel, their imagination is running wild
:21:09. > :21:13.imagining the mini-beasts. That is what the project is about, kids
:21:13. > :21:18.getting muddy, out in the pouring rain, they don't care, they are
:21:18. > :21:22.connecting with nature, that is what it is about, fantastic.
:21:22. > :21:26.Richard and the landscape team battle on with the parts.
:21:26. > :21:34.Joe wants straight line, but it is really difficult for Richard and
:21:34. > :21:44.the land cape skaing team to keep - - landscaping team to keep things
:21:44. > :21:49.person dick later in these conditions.
:21:49. > :21:53.We need dry weather, help, God. four and Richard's prayers are
:21:53. > :22:01.answered, there is sun, which means we might have a fighting chance of
:22:01. > :22:06.catching up. There is a new problem, big areas of the garden aren't
:22:06. > :22:12.trying out. The ground is completely waterlogged. The whole
:22:12. > :22:16.site has that under it. Swamps are not good for plants, hopefully he
:22:16. > :22:21.can come up with a solution. Hopefully the maintenance area of
:22:21. > :22:26.the guard sn dry enough for us to start composting bins. It is a big
:22:26. > :22:36.job for Ned, so we are grateful when the Duke of Edinburgh
:22:36. > :22:39.
:22:39. > :22:43.volunteers roll up. It is great for the community.
:22:43. > :22:47.is a taking a risk and people working together to keep it going.
:22:47. > :22:51.We are slowly getting going. But if this garden is really going to work,
:22:51. > :22:57.it is going to need looking after long-term. We're hoping that the
:22:57. > :23:01.lady whose dream this was, Jackie, might be the one to take it on.
:23:01. > :23:09.Joe's keen to get her on board, he's taking her to a community
:23:09. > :23:12.garden he designed in Islington. are going to King Henry's War
:23:12. > :23:18.Garden, I was involved on day one, it was a disused space in among
:23:18. > :23:22.houses next to a block of flats. Completely derelict, kids jumped in
:23:22. > :23:25.every now and then and spray their names on the walls. It was unused,
:23:25. > :23:29.now it is an amazing community garden. Anyone who lives locally,
:23:30. > :23:37.who doesn't have a garden of their own, can get a little plot there.
:23:37. > :23:47.It has brought everybody together. What is clever about this community
:23:47. > :23:51.
:23:51. > :23:56.garden, is it is run as a members' garden. This is lovely. I want to
:23:56. > :24:00.go and live in it. There is about 60 raised beds all the way through,
:24:00. > :24:10.people can grow whatever they want. I can see loads of stuff, Rosemary
:24:10. > :24:10.
:24:10. > :24:14.and laugh ver, that looks like beetroot there. This may be
:24:14. > :24:18.paradise, but it is the work of careful organisation. When it was
:24:18. > :24:22.first set up, one of the big questions was how to stop it being
:24:22. > :24:25.vandalising. The advice from the police was keep it busy. As long as
:24:25. > :24:28.it is busy and people are using it and people are valuing that space,
:24:28. > :24:32.no-one will go near it. Make it feel there is always something
:24:32. > :24:36.going on. It worked a treat. looks like it is used well. You can
:24:36. > :24:41.feel it has a good feel to it. It is like there is people here and it
:24:41. > :24:45.is growing. It has been brilliant bringing
:24:45. > :24:49.Jackie here, it has inspired her, she can see how their garden can
:24:49. > :24:53.turn into something like this. She's a proper gardener and
:24:53. > :24:58.passionate and enthusiastic, that's what they need. Somewhere like this
:24:58. > :25:08.takes hours and hours of commitment, work and driving people forward to
:25:08. > :25:09.
:25:09. > :25:14.really make it happen. Jackie's got it. Back in Poplar, there is
:25:14. > :25:23.literally a tonne of hardcore to shift. Jayden is, of course, he is
:25:23. > :25:26.front of the queue for hard work. His enthusiasm is endless. A
:25:26. > :25:30.natural-born leader, backy has persuaded other kids to join our
:25:30. > :25:33.gang too. It really is many little hands
:25:33. > :25:37.making light work. Shifting the hardcore to create solid
:25:37. > :25:41.foundations for the paths. It seems that the kids are
:25:41. > :25:46.desperate for this garden, maybe the adults are just a little more
:25:46. > :25:50.cynical. They have seen things go wrong in
:25:50. > :25:54.the past, but hopefully they will catch the kids' enthusiasm and help
:25:54. > :25:58.Some of the children, they have not even used a wheel barrow before.
:25:58. > :26:01.They have been running around on the estate, they most probably
:26:01. > :26:09.chuck stones, now they have some kind of construction and thought to
:26:09. > :26:13.build with them. You can do it, well done! Look, a nice little
:26:13. > :26:16.community garden centre here. Jayden is throwing himself into
:26:16. > :26:22.this one, he's following Joe around, picking up all the tips, working
:26:22. > :26:28.all the hours, it is brilliant. That is basil, smell that, it is a
:26:28. > :26:32.really strong one. Nice a bushy as well. Do you like peppers? Yeah, I
:26:32. > :26:39.really love the sweet ones as well. Cooking with them, eating them,
:26:39. > :26:42.everything? Everything. This is for bugs, mum, this is their
:26:42. > :26:47.environment to keep them safe. Jayden's dream of a garden is
:26:47. > :26:51.becoming more and more real every day. And his mum, Peppa, has really
:26:51. > :26:55.noticed a difference. I think it is fantastic, he seems like he's
:26:55. > :26:59.really proud of himself at the moment. It will be good to see the
:26:59. > :27:02.end result and what is achieved. This project really does have the
:27:02. > :27:05.potential to pull communities together, and inspire others to
:27:05. > :27:09.unlock those locked up spaces. you remember in last week's
:27:09. > :27:12.programme, we invited you to come along and help us finish off the
:27:12. > :27:14.project and celebrate its grand opening. Later on in the programme
:27:14. > :27:19.we will see how many of you actually responded toe that call
:27:19. > :27:24.out. By the end of the weekend, the
:27:24. > :27:30.composting bays are built, most of the paths are laid, we have
:27:30. > :27:35.attracted a couple more local volunteers. Katie and Steve are on
:27:35. > :27:40.trellis duty and seem pretty handy. We are getting there, slowly but
:27:40. > :27:44.surely. Have you ever done anything like that before? Never. Are you
:27:44. > :27:47.looking forward to meeting more people in the community. It has
:27:47. > :27:52.inspired me to do this. But over the next few days, with masses of
:27:52. > :27:58.digging and planting still to come, we are going to need tonnes more
:27:58. > :28:02.muscle. Hopefully, all the activity in the
:28:02. > :28:07.garden willen advertise people down from their -- will entice people
:28:07. > :28:13.down from their garden to help us. Next day, I'm back from cricket
:28:13. > :28:18.duty, and I want to see how my benches are coming along.
:28:18. > :28:23.How is it going? Just popped round to see how the benches are coming?
:28:23. > :28:27.It is not a tree any more! We are on our way. As you can see. It has
:28:27. > :28:32.gone from tree to these raw material, I'm just marking this up,
:28:32. > :28:38.making the legs, here is one we prepared a little while ago. That
:28:38. > :28:46.is English oak. A solid bit of wood. They look smashing, I tell you
:28:46. > :28:50.something, they are going to be hard-wearing. That is rock solid.
:28:50. > :28:57.The creative duties have run riot on one of the benches, and taken
:28:57. > :29:02.her inspiration from the mighty oak. They are oak leaves. Hopefully Joe
:29:02. > :29:08.won't be upset with these. How can he be? He knows his lions and
:29:08. > :29:15.design, he doesn't win in Chelsea for nothing. They are going to look
:29:15. > :29:19.fantastic, Joe will -- he knows his lines and his design, he doesn't
:29:19. > :29:23.win in Chelsea for nothing. They are going to look fantastic.
:29:23. > :29:28.Joe will love them. This looks good? I'm really pleased with the
:29:28. > :29:31.progress. You can see the layout, it is a strong layout. It makes it
:29:31. > :29:35.look structured, and like a courtyard garden. What you are
:29:35. > :29:42.after. At least someone knows what is going on around here. What are
:29:43. > :29:48.these, sheep pens? No wildlife. These are compost bins, ready to be
:29:48. > :29:53.filled up. No cooked foods, no rodents, please. Rats and foxes,
:29:53. > :29:57.you don't want to attract them. Good tip that. Full of them.
:29:57. > :30:03.Problem is, they are empty at the moment. We need loads of compost
:30:03. > :30:08.for the garden, we have to get these beds all sorted before
:30:08. > :30:13.planting. There is an apple core in there? I put that in there. I
:30:13. > :30:19.worked out we need eight tonnes of compost. I have to go and get it? I
:30:19. > :30:26.always get these jobs! I don't know my compost from my elbow, but I'm
:30:26. > :30:30.going to a place that does. This waste park produces ten
:30:30. > :30:34.thousand tonnes of compost from the stuff North London residents chuck
:30:34. > :30:38.away every year. Surely they can spare me a few tonnes. What their
:30:38. > :30:43.manager, Tom, doesn't know about compasting, isn't worth knowing. Is
:30:43. > :30:48.there a little something, because Joe doesn't think I'm much of a
:30:48. > :30:54.gardener. A little nugget I can dazzle him with my knowledge of
:30:54. > :31:01.compost? Can you tell him our compost is an excellent source of
:31:01. > :31:09.nitrogen, phosphorus, and poet it is a yum.
:31:10. > :31:19.-- potassium. I think it went well, or mission a-com-post! Get it, I'm
:31:20. > :31:23.
:31:23. > :31:27.on firing. We have got great compost, all the
:31:27. > :31:32.potassium, phosphorus and nitrates in there, really help all the
:31:32. > :31:38.organic matter, great for the veg, and really good for soil structure!
:31:38. > :31:43.Is that right! That was masterly, he's actually learned something.
:31:43. > :31:49.Forgot moisture retention, didn't you. And moisture retention! That
:31:49. > :31:53.is the last thing Joe needs on this site. We might raise this bed up
:31:53. > :32:00.another edge, backfill the soil and compost. We will work around it, we
:32:00. > :32:05.always do, Rich. We have to. You can't grow stuff in this water-
:32:05. > :32:10.logged soil, but, as ever, Joe has a solution.
:32:10. > :32:19.Build raised beds and fill them with new topsoil.
:32:19. > :32:24.Are you OK. What have you got in there? Topsoil. The great thing
:32:24. > :32:31.about this delivery, is this soil is recycled too. It is a waste
:32:31. > :32:35.product of growing British sugar beet. Trust Swifty to know a handy
:32:35. > :32:45.source. But 14 raised veg beds won't fill themselves. That will
:32:45. > :32:49.keep us busy for a while. Where it Tuffers when you need him?
:32:49. > :32:56.Jayden can't wait to get planting. He and Jackie have gone to a local
:32:56. > :33:03.plant market to choose herbs to get it started. Can I have some basil.
:33:03. > :33:07.Rosemary. This is a good one. And mint, please. It won't be long
:33:07. > :33:17.before he will be cooking his own veg from the garden. Flavoured with
:33:17. > :33:24.his home-grown herbs. At a market like this, where better than to get
:33:24. > :33:31.some flowers. Back at site, there is still a huge pile of topsoil to
:33:31. > :33:39.shift. But, hey, we have more important things to do. A little
:33:39. > :33:49.wanging of the old wellies. It is like a Question of Sport. Get on
:33:49. > :33:54.
:33:54. > :34:01.with it! He's short. That is wind, it's just pushed it away there. Oh
:34:01. > :34:10.no. It is on the line. That's no way on the line. That's in. That's
:34:10. > :34:18.not in. Sorry mate. 'S got it. that is in! This is a lot better
:34:18. > :34:27.than digging. Come on Tuffers, come on. Thank you. Having had my welly
:34:28. > :34:32.well and truly waning -- wanged, there is someone I want to talk to.
:34:32. > :34:37.I want to have a chat with Peppa and Jayden to see if he's enjoying
:34:37. > :34:41.getting stuck into the garden. Hello Peppa. You reckon the kids
:34:41. > :34:45.will be there all the time? Yeah, they will, especially Jayden. He
:34:45. > :34:50.will want to be there every minute. Looking after the veg. He has to
:34:50. > :34:54.look after it. Definitely. I will be over there as well, seeing as I
:34:54. > :34:58.have not had a chance. Is that annoying awe bit, are you a little
:34:58. > :35:02.bit keen? I want to do something. How do you think the garden is
:35:02. > :35:05.going? I'm amazed, I can't believe I have made a bug house, and I
:35:06. > :35:11.haven't made one before. With all the little logs in there for the
:35:11. > :35:15.bugs to go and live. It will be good for the bugs, maybe not us.
:35:15. > :35:19.You haven't told your mum about anything that has been going on at
:35:19. > :35:25.the garden? No, not yet. Mum is the word, you haven't told her
:35:25. > :35:29.anything! No. And she hasn't been peeping? No. She hasn't snuk around
:35:29. > :35:35.there and had had a little look? Good, keep it a surprise, good work
:35:35. > :35:39.and great chopping. Jayden only needs to keep it secret
:35:39. > :35:45.from his mum for three more days. Between now and then, we have got
:35:45. > :35:50.to top off the path, finish the benches, and do the centre piece.
:35:51. > :35:55.Plus there is all the planting, four flour beds, the seating area,
:35:55. > :35:59.and -- flower beds, and the seating area, and the beds need filling.
:35:59. > :36:03.The plants arrived today, which is exciting, even better we have loads
:36:03. > :36:13.of volunteer, many of whom are skilled gardeners. In the next few
:36:13. > :36:17.
:36:18. > :36:22.hours we will see a transformation. They look like butterflies.
:36:22. > :36:29.Sunflowers, how beautiful are they. And it has given me a bit of an
:36:29. > :36:34.idea for the central po mosaic, which will go in the middle of the
:36:34. > :36:41.garden. Loads of things going into, fruit, vegtable, flowers and trees.
:36:41. > :36:48.Sad low, I have to leave for a couple of days. I'm no use, I'm
:36:48. > :36:51.leaving it for Anneka and Phil. What could possibly go wrong!
:36:51. > :37:01.Don't worry, Joe, I will take care of the digging. How long can it
:37:01. > :37:07.
:37:07. > :37:15.take to shift two tonnes of topsoil. One thing I have learned over the
:37:15. > :37:23.last couple of programmes, is how to shuffle. -- shovel.
:37:23. > :37:27.But there is no time for slacking, the compost has arrived.
:37:27. > :37:32.Luckily for me, lots of green- fringeered volunteers from a local
:37:32. > :37:41.gardening group have turned up. Everything's arriving at once, it
:37:41. > :37:51.is a bit like buses. And just as big. There's apple and pear tree,
:37:51. > :37:51.
:37:52. > :37:55.and six towering magnolia trees. They are just fabulous, aren't they.
:37:55. > :37:59.Joe's design is ambitious, because he wants a formal garden, but he
:37:59. > :38:04.also wants a working garden. With both those things, the main
:38:04. > :38:14.emphasis is on planting today. Who better to get us started than
:38:14. > :38:17.
:38:17. > :38:22.our own gardens' champion. This is a bit of a moment, isn't it.
:38:22. > :38:26.Pray there is loads of rasberries. Reuben to go feel excited now?
:38:26. > :38:29.I'm proud of everyone. It is really nice to see stuff going in as well.
:38:29. > :38:33.You have waited years for this moment? I have. I really have.
:38:33. > :38:36.do you feel? It is really special. It is a really special time, in my
:38:36. > :38:42.life as well. I think it will be really good that the residents can
:38:42. > :38:47.come in and hopefully get their strawberries and ras priest and
:38:47. > :38:51.make some zrb rasberries, and make some -- and some rasberries, and
:38:51. > :38:56.make some jam. Seeing all this has given me an idea. I love what Joe
:38:56. > :39:00.has done with this garden, he has designed something formal, like a
:39:00. > :39:04.formal London Square, but there is a modern take on it. There is a
:39:04. > :39:08.square in the middle he has left me to do something with it. I have
:39:08. > :39:16.taken the idea of the Sunflowers, around the central area, we will do
:39:16. > :39:20.a mosaic, which the afterschool club will be doing. Jayden and his
:39:20. > :39:25.mates go to the afterschool club after school. They are used to
:39:25. > :39:29.getting arty, but our Anneka has Van Gogh-sized ambitions for them.
:39:29. > :39:33.This is a sunflower, we will do a mosaic which we will put in the
:39:33. > :39:38.middle of the garden. To make things as easy as possible for
:39:38. > :39:42.Jayden and his friends, I have drawn out the design on 25 big
:39:42. > :39:46.ceramic tiles. Then they need to assemble the tiles ready for
:39:46. > :39:50.sticking. This is a big sunflower, and there are a lot of tiles.
:39:50. > :39:55.have a complicated one, you have brown, yellow, wrong and blue. What
:39:55. > :40:05.we do is glue them on. Wow, Anneka, this has got everybody
:40:05. > :40:08.
:40:08. > :40:13.concentrating. A feature of Joe's formal garden, are six, four-metre
:40:13. > :40:19.high magnolias, to soften all the towering concrete, and bring a bit
:40:20. > :40:29.of posh to Poplar. So we will twist and drop.
:40:30. > :40:32.
:40:32. > :40:41.Joe's really pushed the boat out with them. Careful how you go, Phil.
:40:41. > :40:50.This is a magnolia, it is like a tree. It is a tree! Phil still has
:40:50. > :40:58.a lot to learn, but Jayden seems to be naturally green fingered.
:40:58. > :41:05.think it is amazing, all the pots we have done. Good, pretty terrific.
:41:05. > :41:08.I have planted lots of plants. And I feel good about that. In just a
:41:08. > :41:16.few days, and you can see the positive effect the garden is
:41:16. > :41:20.having on Jayden. Team work. It just is so obvious that these
:41:20. > :41:25.kids need something constructive to get involved with, and the garden
:41:25. > :41:30.is the perfect answer, it really is. The shame is there are gardens like
:41:30. > :41:39.this all over the estate, but they remain locked, that is what would
:41:39. > :41:42.be wonderful to change. At last, the garden is looking like
:41:42. > :41:45.a garden. The magnolias and the fruit bushes and some of the
:41:45. > :41:49.flowers are in, and the wildlife flowers are planted. I have noticed
:41:49. > :41:53.one of the neighbours has been keeping an eye on our progress. I'm
:41:53. > :41:57.keen to meet him. So Brian, you have lived here for 25 years,
:41:57. > :42:02.overlooking that plot of ground, which hasn't been used. How are you
:42:02. > :42:05.feeling now you are seeing it being changed. It is nice, it makes a
:42:05. > :42:10.change to look at something nice, instead of the grass. It must have
:42:10. > :42:14.been so frustrating for all the residents n this particular area,
:42:14. > :42:21.to have somewhere potentially they can get to with a big padlock on
:42:21. > :42:24.it? It will be really nice. It's not just Brian who has noticed
:42:24. > :42:31.the difference. Word of our garden has spread, and the early trickle
:42:31. > :42:35.of volunteers from the estate, has turned into a flood.
:42:35. > :42:39.The Duke of Edinburgh volunteers can't keep away.
:42:39. > :42:43.Jayden, do you want to pop this one in here for me. In less than 36
:42:43. > :42:52.hours, Jayden is going to show his mum the garden. And with so much
:42:52. > :42:57.planting left to do, it is great we have got so much help. Even Brian
:42:57. > :43:04.has finally joined our growing band. How are you, nice to see you. Come
:43:04. > :43:11.to give you a hand doing a bit of planting. You are half way through.
:43:11. > :43:14.I'm digging eh! Which one? That one in. So you have seen the garden
:43:14. > :43:18.evolved? Every day I come home it is changing and getting better and
:43:18. > :43:23.better, it is amazing. What a change for the community round here.
:43:23. > :43:31.It will be brilliant. Do you think that is deep enough. A bit deeper?
:43:31. > :43:38.I don't know much about gardening. Are you a bit of a gardener? Only
:43:38. > :43:44.window boxing. They are lovely. Will you help tend it, because it
:43:44. > :43:54.has to be tended? Will do. It will be nice to be here on sawny
:43:54. > :43:54.
:43:55. > :43:59.afternoon. You should be so lucky. It will be good. It's great to see
:43:59. > :44:05.this garden, finally coming alive and drawing people in. It made me
:44:05. > :44:09.feel good, I feel great. I have been inspired by everyone's help.
:44:09. > :44:14.And team work and effort by everyone. It is breath taking,
:44:14. > :44:20.there is no words. Seeing my friends, and the community coming
:44:20. > :44:24.together. It is just like an amazing dream come true. Jayden
:44:24. > :44:28.finally gets his chance to plant his favourite fresh herbs. Just
:44:28. > :44:32.what this budding chef needs for his kitchen. I'm going to eat them
:44:32. > :44:41.with my mum, and we're going to invite some people round as well.
:44:41. > :44:49.And we are going to eat it. It will taste nice, hopefully. With
:44:49. > :44:54.everyone else planting, Joe has set me and Annie a challenge. Strictly
:44:54. > :44:57.Come Planting. He's challenging us to take charge of a flowerbed each.
:44:57. > :45:02.Take charge! While this isn't the stiff competition of Chelsea, I
:45:02. > :45:05.will be looking for high standards. I will give you marks out ten for
:45:05. > :45:12.technical merit, team management, presentation. Be prepared to raise
:45:12. > :45:17.your game, good luck, may the best planter win. Team management,
:45:17. > :45:21.have seen my team, Sant and Bahgit. Ready, go.
:45:21. > :45:27.# Anything you can do I can do better
:45:27. > :45:32.Threes and the fives. If there is anything I have learned,
:45:32. > :45:37.it is Joe's top tip, always group three or five of the same plant
:45:37. > :45:43.together. There is a four there. Two groups of three to make Joe
:45:44. > :45:48.happy. It is not as easy as you think, Joe
:45:48. > :45:55.scatters them about, and they fall beautifully. He says threes and
:45:55. > :46:00.five, we had six of one. I think he will be happy with that. We have
:46:00. > :46:05.been working on the garden or nine days now. In a few hours time
:46:05. > :46:10.Jayden will show his mum what we have achieved. It won't be
:46:10. > :46:14.completely finished when the final push is over. From this morning we
:46:14. > :46:19.are concentrating on the planting and making it look good for Peppa.
:46:19. > :46:23.Joe is back, but we have lost Phil to the cricket again. He will miss
:46:23. > :46:33.out on Joe judging our efforts on Strictly Come Planting. Bed number
:46:33. > :46:39.one and two. OK, I can see a little bit of patchy spacing, actually. I
:46:40. > :46:44.hope I won't upset you, Anneka, but that is the winning bed. It's Phil.
:46:44. > :46:49.I'm really pleased, he had little kids with them and they all mucked
:46:49. > :46:53.in. Do you want to know why, it is a spacial thing, it is a better
:46:53. > :46:57.spacing, and a bit more drifting here and the block of grass. It
:46:57. > :47:04.feels a little more balanced. But Phil's come on a long way. There
:47:04. > :47:14.was only one way for Phil to go. better tell Phil the good news.
:47:14. > :47:18.Hello. Tuffers! Hello, how are you going. Not bad. I'm at the Oval,
:47:18. > :47:23.England 311-6, lost a few wickets this morning, in a bit of trouble,
:47:23. > :47:28.ball moving around a bit. Do you want to hear the good news?
:47:28. > :47:33.Strictly Come Planting, who won? You did. Threes and fives. There is
:47:33. > :47:36.a gardener in me somewhere. Are the benches there? They aren't here yet,
:47:36. > :47:39.that is one thing I'm a bit stressed about. What time are they
:47:39. > :47:43.meant to be turning up, like you know. They were meant to be there
:47:43. > :47:47.today. Keep up the good work, shame I can't be there. All the best,
:47:47. > :47:53.take care. Last minute we will be pushed to
:47:53. > :47:59.plant up the seating areas. We still need Phil's benches. Watching
:47:59. > :48:02.us put the final touches is someone who really deserves a garden. 8-
:48:02. > :48:05.year-old Rose. You have got the best seat in the house up here. I
:48:05. > :48:12.have seen you sitting here every day watching this garden develop.
:48:12. > :48:16.What do you think about it? Lovely. I love flowers. They are my
:48:16. > :48:20.favourite thing. As soon as I saw them starting to make this garden,
:48:20. > :48:25.I thought I will go out there and watch them do it all. You have been
:48:25. > :48:31.watching every day. Haven't you. Have you ever done any gardening
:48:31. > :48:39.yourself? Thefr had a garden. I come from Bethnal Green, which was
:48:39. > :48:43.all houses and yards. You didn't have a garden. There will be lots
:48:43. > :48:46.of places to sit. I don't have to go and sit. I know you can sit up
:48:46. > :48:52.there. You can go down and have a chat with neighbours in the garden.
:48:52. > :49:02.Yeah I could. In the thick of time Phil's benches
:49:02. > :49:12.
:49:12. > :49:16.arrive. It is like a butterfly. Slightly burned wings! Time's up,
:49:16. > :49:23.we're nearly ready to show Peppa her garden after almost ten days of
:49:23. > :49:29.seriously hard work. Now we have transformed it into a
:49:29. > :49:33.working garden. A mini-green oasis. But there is still a lot we need to
:49:33. > :49:41.finish off. Two flower beds and 14 veg beds to plant. A top coat of
:49:41. > :49:45.gravel to lay on the paths. Plus the mosaic centre piece to finish.
:49:45. > :49:48.Crack all that, and we will have given a sad, old useless place, a
:49:48. > :49:58.second chance. Before we see how many of you turned up. There is a
:49:58. > :49:59.
:49:59. > :50:04.little boy who wants to show his mum what he has been up to.
:50:04. > :50:11.Oh my goodness. It is nothing like what I expected it to be.
:50:11. > :50:15.Sunflowers Jayden. We done all of these, these ones are really good
:50:15. > :50:21.for beans, they have lots of pollen in it. He has been learning a lot.
:50:21. > :50:26.He loves it out here. We should set you up a little camp out here.
:50:26. > :50:30.would as well. Do you think the garden will be good for him? He has
:50:30. > :50:35.been buzzing about it, he has been a lot calmer at school. He has had
:50:36. > :50:42.a change in attitude. That's brilliant. You must be proud of
:50:42. > :50:47.him? I am, tears are coming. should be proud of him. He has been
:50:47. > :50:53.brilliant. I'm really proud of him, he has done a fantastic job.
:50:53. > :50:57.Well done Jay. Well, if this is Peppa's reaction,
:50:57. > :51:01.we can't wait to see how the wider community responds to helping us
:51:01. > :51:04.finish off. Especially because across the
:51:04. > :51:14.series you have already been so generous with your time at
:51:14. > :51:19.
:51:19. > :51:28.volunteering. You have your wellies!
:51:28. > :51:35.All ages. From all parts of the country. Where have you come from?
:51:35. > :51:45.West London, via Heathrow. Even on special days, you turned up.
:51:45. > :51:47.
:51:47. > :51:51.It is birthday. Happy birthday! Look this, the Flowerpot Gang.
:51:51. > :52:01.wanted to join in. I saw the programme, and I was totally
:52:01. > :52:11.
:52:11. > :52:15.inspired, I thought I would come It's been over a month since Jayden
:52:15. > :52:19.gave his mum a sneak preview of the garden. Now we are back to do all
:52:19. > :52:23.the finishing touches in time for the grand opening lateren to today.
:52:23. > :52:26.Joe is already on site to check what we need to do.
:52:26. > :52:32.Today there is a few jobs to get on with, we have to finish this path.
:52:32. > :52:36.That is a must. We have some more plants, to fill in the ornamental
:52:36. > :52:40.beds, get lots of colour in here to take it through to autumn. I want
:52:40. > :52:44.veg in the veg beds, it is important to get food out of this
:52:44. > :52:52.place, produce, it will spur them on to grow more vegtables into next
:52:52. > :52:58.spring. Phil, the moment of truth. It is looking all right. Hello Joe.
:52:58. > :53:04.He needs digging up! The veg is growing well in the beds. That is
:53:04. > :53:08.not veg, that is a few weeds. nice to think after the series we
:53:08. > :53:12.are on it with the vegtable. knows the difference between veg
:53:12. > :53:16.and weed, not. A final push today to get it ready for the autumn, and
:53:16. > :53:20.hand it over to them, and it is Jackie and her gardening club, off
:53:20. > :53:25.they go. Paths planting, and there is --
:53:25. > :53:29.path, planting, and my mosaic to finish. Once again, the response to
:53:29. > :53:33.the callout is magnificent. People from the estate and far and wide.
:53:33. > :53:38.Are you coming to do digging this afternoon? We are. Are you in this
:53:38. > :53:44.area? No, we're from Essex. have come a long way to go? Yes, we
:53:44. > :53:49.did. Come in and grab yourself a spade.
:53:49. > :53:53.What drew you to the garden? We saw the programme and decided to take a
:53:53. > :53:56.lock. Thank you for coming down. What do you think of community
:53:56. > :53:59.gardens? It is a really good idea for kids to come with family and
:53:59. > :54:04.friends, and get engaged and learn about the growing of vegtables and
:54:04. > :54:07.things like that. As we get down to work on the paths, Jayden finally
:54:07. > :54:11.gets his chance to plant his own veg.
:54:11. > :54:14.As usual, I have found my place in life, doing the shovelling. But
:54:14. > :54:18.luckily, this time, we have got loads of help.
:54:18. > :54:22.Just as well, as I want a quick word with Jackie.
:54:22. > :54:26.Hello, how do you think the garden is going? Really lovely. You have
:54:26. > :54:29.set up a gardening committee, haven't you? Yeah, we have. It is
:54:29. > :54:33.going really well. Have people come and got stuck in? Yes, we have had
:54:33. > :54:37.children in there, telling nightime stories. It has really been good.
:54:37. > :54:42.The people that live round here, they have been so encouraging and
:54:42. > :54:50.supportive. Crack on and I better get going on my barrel. How are
:54:50. > :54:54.you? Joe's really pleased today see Rose has made it into the garden.
:54:54. > :54:57.There is 100 new plants to dig into the remaining two flower beds. I'm
:54:57. > :55:02.pleased to see we have visitors today from other London estates.
:55:02. > :55:06.What brought you here? We live in a flat, and they always want to work
:55:06. > :55:10.in a garden. You haven't got a garden? No, it gave them a chance
:55:10. > :55:14.to work and get themselves muddy, enjoy it. If you form the right
:55:14. > :55:20.sort of group, and take control. You would be amazed at the chances
:55:20. > :55:27.you could have. To be honest, I don't want to say it, but I have to,
:55:27. > :55:31.I am very envious! Do you know what this is? Kale.
:55:31. > :55:35.Jayden has made a start on planting winter vegtables, it is the moment
:55:35. > :55:40.he has been waiting. You start planting deep. You know
:55:40. > :55:47.how to plant. You like cooking, right? Yes. You could stir-fry
:55:47. > :55:52.these, or boil them. What do you think? Yeah. As the pasts receive
:55:52. > :55:58.their finishing touches, and my sunflower mosaic begins to take
:55:58. > :56:02.shape. There is one final push of hard graft needed. But, as always,
:56:02. > :56:05.guess who isn't doing it. Bad news, I have to go. I have to leave you
:56:05. > :56:11.for the grand opening, because I have to go and do the commentary on
:56:11. > :56:15.the cricket. You are joking. I have got to go.
:56:15. > :56:21.For the whole day, that's it. is the big day. We have all the
:56:21. > :56:28.volunteer, we have the garden to finish and you are going to have
:56:28. > :56:32.off to the -- off to the cricket. Even with Phil gone, we fly through
:56:32. > :56:42.the planting. The paths are laid, and my mosaic is finished. All
:56:42. > :56:44.
:56:44. > :56:52.thanks to the generosity of our hard working volunteers.
:56:52. > :56:55.Just over a month ago, this space was locked up and unloved. Now,
:56:55. > :57:00.it's a thriving working garden, where locals can come together to
:57:00. > :57:04.work and relax. And hopefully, it will inspire
:57:04. > :57:13.other communities, all over the country, to unlock their unused
:57:13. > :57:17.spaces. I'm thrilled, I think it looks
:57:17. > :57:21.absolutely beautiful. Next spring when the vegtables beds are full up
:57:21. > :57:26.of produce, it will be fabulous. Before the party starts, we have
:57:26. > :57:29.one cermonial duty left to perform, to open the garden.
:57:29. > :57:34.Those of you who have been involved right from the beginning and those
:57:34. > :57:38.of you who have turned up today and given your support, you you have
:57:38. > :57:42.all been amazing. I would like to say thank you to everyone, there is
:57:42. > :57:45.so many people here, if you know me, with names, I'm not going to say
:57:45. > :57:52.you all by name, I'm going to say a really big thank you. And that's
:57:52. > :57:56.from my heart. Thank you. Jayden, a big round of applause for
:57:56. > :57:59.you, fantastic job, you got stuck in as did all your friend too. Well
:57:59. > :58:03.done. You have done such a good friend.
:58:03. > :58:07.like this garden, I have been participating in it really well.
:58:07. > :58:11.There's some flowers that I have been doing great, and all the
:58:11. > :58:21.flowers were dying, and they have come alive again. Over to you
:58:21. > :58:25.
:58:25. > :58:29.Jayden. The garden is open.
:58:29. > :58:33.Thank you for watching Flowerpot Gang, we have been so impressed by
:58:33. > :58:36.all the response to our callouts, to help finish and celebrate the
