0:14:56 > 0:15:01- The thought of cycling 100 miles in - a day is a challenge for most of us.

0:15:02 > 0:15:05- But it's an achievement for Siwan - and she was once wheelchair-bound.

0:15:05 > 0:15:08- Elin went to discover more.

0:15:10 > 0:15:13- Siwan Owen - is originally from Trelogan...

0:15:13 > 0:15:17- ..and works as a cancer nurse - in Ysbyty Glan Clwyd Hospital.

0:15:17 > 0:15:23- She's familiar with the cancer unit - but not because of her work...

0:15:23 > 0:15:28- ..but due to her personal journey - with the illness.

0:15:30 > 0:15:38- You're only 28 years old but have - gone through a lot in your life.

0:15:39 > 0:15:45- I was very ill aged eleven and went - to Alder Hey Hospital in Liverpool.

0:15:45 > 0:15:51- That's when I had the news that - I had leukaemia or blood cancer.

0:15:51 > 0:15:58- I started treatment and had two - and a half years of chemotherapy.

0:15:58 > 0:16:05- After finishing chemotherapy, - I couldn't walk properly.

0:16:05 > 0:16:10- They discovered a bone condition - called avascular necrosis...

0:16:11 > 0:16:16- ..which meant - that the bone had died.

0:16:18 > 0:16:24- I had to use a wheelchair for - ten years and faced many challenges.

0:16:24 > 0:16:34- When I was 25, I had my first - hip replacement in Birmingham...

0:16:34 > 0:16:40- ..and had my second hip replacement - a year later aged 26.

0:16:41 > 0:16:46- It's a nightmare situation - for any parent.

0:16:47 > 0:16:51- At that time, we didn't know what - the future held for our child.

0:16:51 > 0:16:56- Siwan's always been - a strong character...

0:16:56 > 0:16:59- ..and has fought - everything she's encountered.

0:17:00 > 0:17:05- I'm so proud of her.

0:17:05 > 0:17:09- After the hip replacements, I made - a list of things I wanted to do.

0:17:09 > 0:17:13- Riding a bike was on the list.

0:17:14 > 0:17:18- I also wanted to wear heels as - I'd never been able to wear them...

0:17:19 > 0:17:23- ..so bought myself a pair - of Jimmy Choo shoes!

0:17:23 > 0:17:27- I wanted to go skiing - and have been twice...

0:17:27 > 0:17:31- ..and I've walked - to the summit of Snowdon too.

0:17:35 > 0:17:40- You've been through so much but - will cycle 100 miles for charity.

0:17:40 > 0:17:44- Why did you choose - to do a bike ride?

0:17:44 > 0:17:47- I can walk today which is amazing...
