0:02:18 > 0:02:23- ..and was the Labour MP for - Cardiff West in the 1980s and 1990s.

0:02:27 > 0:02:31- ..and was made - First Minister of Wales in 2000.

0:02:31 > 0:02:37- He led two coalition governments in - Cardiff Bay before retiring in 2009.

0:02:37 > 0:02:42- Tributes have been paid by - politicians from all parties...

0:02:46 > 0:02:51- Rhodri Morgan was one of the most - capable and popular politicians...

0:03:44 > 0:03:50- ..but he was taller than me and had - longer legs and didn't stop talking!

0:03:57 > 0:04:00- I've known Rhodri - for almost 50 years.

0:04:01 > 0:04:07- I first met him at a rugby match - at the Old Arcade in Cardiff.

0:04:07 > 0:04:13- I classed him as a friend and unique - and someone I'll never forget...

0:04:17 > 0:04:23- ..a staunch member of the Labour - Party and a citizen of the world.

0:04:36 > 0:04:42- He was very authoritative - when speaking but not frightening...

0:05:02 > 0:05:06- Rhodri Morgan - had a tough time at one point.

0:05:06 > 0:05:10- He was a strong supporter - for the devolution of Wales...

0:05:10 > 0:05:16- ..but was overlooked twice for the - role of First Minister of Wales...

0:05:16 > 0:05:20- ..but it was a case - of third time lucky...

0:05:20 > 0:05:25- ..and he became a leader who set - firm foundations for our Assembly.

0:05:27 > 0:05:33- I was honoured to be the Presiding - Officer at the National Assembly...

0:05:33 > 0:05:36- ..whilst he was the - First Minister of Wales.

0:05:36 > 0:05:41- I can say with my hand on my heart - that we never had a crossed word.

0:05:42 > 0:05:46- He knew that the principles - of democracy had to work everywhere.

0:05:46 > 0:05:51- I'm so grateful for that - as if it had been anyone else....

0:05:51 > 0:05:56- ..who didn't grasp the importance of - a democratic government for Wales...

0:05:56 > 0:05:58- ..then we wouldn't be here today.

0:05:59 > 0:06:05- I last saw him in the Senedd at a - constitutional committee meeting.

0:06:05 > 0:06:09- He was as enthusiastic that day - as he was on the day we first met.

0:06:14 > 0:06:18- He had many interests - including music and rugby.

0:06:18 > 0:06:23- His articles in the Western Mail - were heart-warming for Wales' teams.

0:06:23 > 0:06:27- He loved gardening - and every aspect of life in Wales.

0:06:28 > 0:06:33- He enjoyed visiting Cardigan - and Mwnt but also loved his home.

0:10:20 > 0:10:26- The charity is in a good place - at the moment.

0:10:34 > 0:10:40- ..for those people who are patients.

0:10:43 > 0:10:49- Some of them have to go through - three or four sessions a week.

0:10:52 > 0:10:58- We've raised about 1 million.

0:11:10 > 0:11:16- Rhodri was the sort of man we could - consult for advice.

0:11:52 > 0:11:56- We're sat in front of a roaring fire - whilst the sun is shining.

0:11:57 > 0:12:03- The fire was important in places - like Swtan Cottage 200 years ago.

0:12:04 > 0:12:09- It was used for heating, cooking - and living so we had to have it.

0:12:09 > 0:12:14- This must be the last - thatched cottage on Anglesey.

0:12:14 > 0:12:19- It's the last one on Anglesey - with this type of roof.

0:12:19 > 0:12:24- What do you offer for those - who visit this small museum?

0:12:24 > 0:12:30- The kitchen contains old furniture - and shows their way of life.
