0:02:43 > 0:02:48- ..needed blood during an operation - and it saved his life.

0:02:48 > 0:02:56- As a family, we've experienced - that receiving blood saves lives.

0:02:56 > 0:03:04- Yes, and this encouraged your father - to go and give blood.

0:03:04 > 0:03:09- We've been trying to get Dad - to give blood for many years.

0:03:10 > 0:03:15- He claims that he's afraid of - needles but he's not the only one.

0:03:16 > 0:03:20- People are afraid but you're doing - something that's worthwhile...

0:03:20 > 0:03:26- ..and can save someone's life if - they need blood during an operation.

0:03:26 > 0:03:31- There isn't an endless supply of - blood so should give blood often.

0:03:31 > 0:03:34- That's what made him - go and give blood.

0:03:35 > 0:03:44- It made him want to give blood as - both of you have a rare blood type.

0:03:51 > 0:03:57- Our family supports the campaign - to get people to give blood.

0:05:01 > 0:05:11- If we don't have more donors, - the stock will be depleted.

0:05:13 > 0:05:20- We can currently supply the demand - for blood in Welsh hospitals...

0:05:20 > 0:05:28- ..but there aren't enough people - to replace regular donors...

0:05:28 > 0:05:33- ..who have to stop giving blood so - it can cause problems in the future.

0:05:33 > 0:05:37- Yes, if people don't register - over the next few years...

0:05:38 > 0:05:41- ..it's possible - that we won't have any donors.

0:05:42 > 0:05:45- Blood means life.

0:05:45 > 0:05:49- The vans behind us take blood - to our hospitals on a regular basis.

0:05:50 > 0:05:55- Yes, the blood is taken from here - after it's tested and processed.

0:05:55 > 0:06:03- We serve 19 hospitals in Wales.

0:06:04 > 0:06:09- It's important to ensure the blood - is safe and that there's enough...

0:06:10 > 0:06:17- ..so that we can give transplants - to those with cancer, new mothers...

0:06:17 > 0:06:22- ..or those with blood problems.

0:06:22 > 0:06:25- The message is simple - - please give blood!

0:14:59 > 0:15:01- It's quite an honour - to join the Gorsedd.

0:15:02 > 0:15:07- I forgot I got into it automatically - after winning the Musicians' Medal.

0:15:08 > 0:15:15- It was odd but I felt very honoured - when I was at the ceremony.

0:15:16 > 0:15:20- Before the Eisteddfod, you were busy - with the song, Rhedeg i Paris.

0:15:20 > 0:15:27- Yes, it was nuts for the band and - Radio Cymru asked us to cover it.

0:15:28 > 0:15:33- The song became popular - thanks to the Welsh success.

0:15:33 > 0:15:38- I think the Eisteddfod is the ideal - place to bury this song!

0:20:17 > 0:20:23- He'd been back and forth to the - doctor but couldn't get any answers.

0:20:23 > 0:20:30- After a few months, he was diagnosed - with pancreatic cancer.

0:20:31 > 0:20:37- He died within six weeks - of being diagnosed.

0:20:37 > 0:20:42- I didn't know about pancreatic - cancer and its statistics.

0:20:42 > 0:20:46- Both myself and the family - were in shock.

0:20:47 > 0:20:52- Since that time, I've tried to - raise awareness about this cancer.

0:20:52 > 0:20:57- Some 97% of people in Wales die - as a result of pancreatic cancer...

0:20:57 > 0:21:05- ..but pancreatic cancer only gets 1% - of the funding for research.

0:21:05 > 0:21:09- It's terrible so I've tried to raise - awareness about the symptoms...

0:21:10 > 0:21:15- ..so people go to the doctors...

0:21:15 > 0:21:24- ..and don't accept Dad's - original diagnosis of a virus.

0:21:25 > 0:21:29- It's why I've been raising money - for the last three years.

0:21:31 > 0:21:36- How much have you raised to date?- - It's over 10,000.

0:21:36 > 0:21:40- I walked the Inca Trail in Peru...

0:21:40 > 0:21:48- ..walked the highest volcanoes - in Ecuador and I'm now in Wales!

0:21:54 > 0:21:59- The grief doesn't go away - but I know Dad would be proud of me.

0:21:59 > 0:22:08- Dad loved nature, Wales and South - America but he never went there.

0:22:15 > 0:22:21- ..but I know he would be proud - of what I'm doing.
