0:01:23 > 0:01:24This is going to be interesting.

0:01:24 > 0:01:26We've got a good variety of robots here.

0:01:26 > 0:01:28And not just robots, roboteers as well.

0:01:28 > 0:01:31It's a weird mixed bag of people.

0:01:43 > 0:01:45From Grove...

0:01:51 > 0:01:54Well, my robot is a lot different to most others, in as much that

0:02:33 > 0:02:36Four unique robot fighting teams ready for battle -

0:02:36 > 0:02:38led by a Robot Wars legend.

0:02:41 > 0:02:45From the Republic of Ireland, Peter Redmond...

0:02:50 > 0:02:53If we had no other reason to do this international competition,

0:02:53 > 0:02:55we'd have this, the return of Diotoir.

0:02:55 > 0:02:58Look at this legendary robot!

0:02:59 > 0:03:02One of the great names in Robot Wars.

0:03:05 > 0:03:08Diotoir is a firm fan favourite,

0:03:08 > 0:03:11first fighting at the end of the last century,

0:03:11 > 0:03:14but his reputation wasn't solely based on his ability to win.

0:03:14 > 0:03:16But more of that later.

0:03:18 > 0:03:20Peter Redmond, it is a pleasure to have you back.

0:03:20 > 0:03:23- A pleasure to be here.- In your role as international captain as well.

0:03:23 > 0:03:25Absolutely, yeah, leading the team here.

0:03:25 > 0:03:27- We're going to take over. - Do you think?- Absolutely.

0:03:27 > 0:03:31How is it working, this international ragbag of countries?

0:03:31 > 0:03:34Yeah, well, it's interesting. We've been working together,

0:03:34 > 0:03:36we have different robots that will do different things.

0:03:39 > 0:03:40Joining him are...

0:03:40 > 0:03:42From the Netherlands...

0:03:46 > 0:03:49We are the Dutch Rebel Girls.

0:03:49 > 0:03:51There are two members on our team right now,

0:03:51 > 0:03:52me and Esther Tissing.

0:03:55 > 0:03:57We have the blunt side

0:03:57 > 0:03:59and we have the pointy side.

0:03:59 > 0:04:03Depending on our opponents, we can switch it.

0:04:03 > 0:04:05From Belgium...

0:04:09 > 0:04:11Cobra is a very strong robot -

0:04:11 > 0:04:14it can pull a lorry from 15,000 kilos -

0:04:14 > 0:04:16and it's got a crusher.

0:04:16 > 0:04:18From Portugal...

0:04:24 > 0:04:29To beat the robot, you must first beat the mind behind the machine.

0:04:32 > 0:04:34Here's how the competition works.

0:04:34 > 0:04:36We start with the tag team battles.

0:04:36 > 0:04:40Two robots preside, but only one can fight at a time,

0:04:40 > 0:04:42tagging their team-mate in when required.

0:04:42 > 0:04:44Then the head to heads,

0:04:44 > 0:04:47before the two captains face off in our final.

0:04:47 > 0:04:50Remember, each victory earns their side precious points,

0:04:50 > 0:04:53with the highest scoring team winning the competition.

0:04:55 > 0:04:59The teams make their way to the arena for the first battle.

0:04:59 > 0:05:04Representing the UK are team captain Dave with Apollo and Gabriel.

0:05:05 > 0:05:07Our tactics for taking on the Rest Of The World is using

0:05:07 > 0:05:10the experience and the driver skill that we bring to Team UK.

0:05:12 > 0:05:14Yes! Well done.

0:05:15 > 0:05:17The other Rest Of The World teams

0:05:17 > 0:05:19haven't got the experience that we've got.

0:05:19 > 0:05:20We can flip 'em out of the arena...

0:05:20 > 0:05:22Whoo, come on!

0:05:22 > 0:05:25..and Gabriel can just do its thing in the corner and distract them.

0:05:29 > 0:05:32Heavens to Betsy, Gabriel! You can take some punishment.

0:05:34 > 0:05:40Up against a Rest Of The World team starring Cobra with axe bot TMHWK.

0:05:40 > 0:05:42I need to think of my tactics.

0:05:42 > 0:05:45If I'm not such a good driver, if I'm new,

0:05:45 > 0:05:49I need to find, like a real roboteer, another way around it.

0:05:49 > 0:05:51And another way around it is letting him believe...

0:05:53 > 0:05:57"Ah, she's new, let's be gentle." Bang!

0:05:57 > 0:06:01And after that, I can't do that. That's only a one-time trick.

0:06:01 > 0:06:04So, for the first time this evening, it's over to Jonathan Pearce.

0:06:06 > 0:06:07Thanks, Dara and Angela.

0:06:07 > 0:06:09The rules for these tag team battles are simple.

0:06:09 > 0:06:11Each team has two robots in the arena.

0:06:11 > 0:06:14One robot fights until they're immobilised or

0:06:14 > 0:06:17are tagged in by a team-mate in the Corner Patrol Zone,

0:06:17 > 0:06:18where they'll be waiting.

0:06:18 > 0:06:20Teams can tag as many times as they like,

0:06:20 > 0:06:24but only one active robot from each team can fight at any one time.

0:06:25 > 0:06:28These tag team rounds are three minutes

0:06:28 > 0:06:30and, if there's no clear winner, then our judges will adjudicate

0:06:30 > 0:06:33based on control, damage and aggression.

0:06:33 > 0:06:36And those judges are Professor Sethu Vijayakumar,

0:06:36 > 0:06:40Dr Lucy Rogers and head judge Professor Noel Sharkey.

0:06:40 > 0:06:45For our international teams, this arena is definitely not a holiday,

0:06:45 > 0:06:49as the pit, the fire, the flipper, the spikes, the fog of war

0:06:49 > 0:06:53and the house robots are all in attendance to make things

0:06:53 > 0:06:55as unpleasant as possible.

0:06:55 > 0:06:58It's time for both these teams to put their international money

0:06:58 > 0:07:00where their international mouths are

0:07:00 > 0:07:01because it's battle time.

0:07:03 > 0:07:05In the arena for this battle...

0:07:07 > 0:07:10Dead Metal, or as the French call him, Dead Michel.

0:07:14 > 0:07:17- Roboteers, stand by.- Come on, UK!

0:07:21 > 0:07:25Three, two, one...

0:07:25 > 0:07:26Activate!

0:07:26 > 0:07:29Team UK very confident here.

0:07:29 > 0:07:32Apollo with the Union Jack,

0:07:32 > 0:07:36taking on Cobra, with the venomous bite.

0:07:36 > 0:07:41Apollo's doing the chasing, but Cobra is out-running Apollo.

0:07:41 > 0:07:43Now, this is significant.

0:07:43 > 0:07:47Up over the wedge-shaped Apollo, but no damage sustained.

0:07:47 > 0:07:51Tyre release releases the pits of the doom and oblivion.

0:07:51 > 0:07:54Now, Cobra quite happy to ride up on Apollo.

0:07:54 > 0:07:57Apollo not getting in any flips at the moment.

0:07:57 > 0:07:59Here! That's it!

0:07:59 > 0:08:01Or is Dave just waiting his opportunity?

0:08:01 > 0:08:03Look at the power, the shove of Cobra!

0:08:03 > 0:08:06Shoving against the... There goes the flip!

0:08:06 > 0:08:07But Cobra rode it.

0:08:09 > 0:08:11And now, there's the tag and out comes TMHWK,

0:08:11 > 0:08:13different sort of machine.

0:08:13 > 0:08:15This time, the fog of war is released.

0:08:15 > 0:08:18Who will hide in the murk? Not Gabriel 2.

0:08:18 > 0:08:21- Where the hell am I? - That one, that one!

0:08:21 > 0:08:25Gabriel 2 into the fray, out they come, the Colliass.

0:08:25 > 0:08:29Looks awkward, doesn't it? Looks a little bit wobbly.

0:08:29 > 0:08:31Don't let looks deceive you.

0:08:31 > 0:08:34It's Gabriel 2 now against TMHWK.

0:08:34 > 0:08:38And down comes the mighty weapon of Gabriel 2.

0:08:38 > 0:08:44That is a huge, powerful sledgehammer-type weapon.

0:08:44 > 0:08:49And they're battering TMHWK. And they're up on the side wheels.

0:08:49 > 0:08:50Oh, wow!

0:08:51 > 0:08:55Great battle, this. They lock weaponry.

0:08:55 > 0:09:01The sword hammer of Gabriel 2 and there, underneath, the TMHWK axe.

0:09:02 > 0:09:05They can change that axe, it's interchangeable,

0:09:05 > 0:09:07but the one they've got out there is doing the business.

0:09:07 > 0:09:09What a battle this is!

0:09:10 > 0:09:13This has been a tale of two halves, this tug-of-war.

0:09:13 > 0:09:16The first was quite even. What's happening now?

0:09:16 > 0:09:18Apollo back in here with Cobra.

0:09:18 > 0:09:21We know Cobra's got great speed across the arena floor

0:09:21 > 0:09:26at 20km an hour. And Dead Metal awaits in the CPZ.

0:09:26 > 0:09:29Cobra has been flipped, has it lost power? Has it lost power?

0:09:29 > 0:09:32Has it lost traction? Apollo senses something here.

0:09:32 > 0:09:35Comes in with the wedge, trying get underneath the ground clearance.

0:09:35 > 0:09:37Trying to get a flip, pushing into Dead Metal

0:09:37 > 0:09:39off the floor flipper, they're heating up.

0:09:39 > 0:09:41Apollo takes on Dead Metal, is that wise?

0:09:41 > 0:09:43They got caught I think by Dead Metal,

0:09:43 > 0:09:46they fought back after. Cobra went flying,

0:09:46 > 0:09:51but you can see Apollo got tangled with Dead Metal.

0:09:51 > 0:09:54And didn't like it, and fought against Dead Metal.

0:09:54 > 0:09:56Overturned and they're still fighting!

0:09:58 > 0:10:00THEY GROAN

0:10:00 > 0:10:04Oh, you need to get out because this could be damage sustained.

0:10:04 > 0:10:06And another flip for Cobra!

0:10:06 > 0:10:07Go and hit Dead Metal!

0:10:09 > 0:10:13Gabriel 2 comes back out. The big old wobbly wheels.

0:10:13 > 0:10:16They can take loads of punishment on those wheels

0:10:16 > 0:10:21and still wobble on, wobble on, and they take on TMHWK.

0:10:21 > 0:10:24Massive ground clearance, of course, for Gabriel 2.

0:10:24 > 0:10:27That can negate some weaponry from opponents.

0:10:27 > 0:10:30And now, it's a free-for-all. This is madness!

0:10:30 > 0:10:32They're all in there now.

0:10:32 > 0:10:34Something's come off.

0:10:34 > 0:10:36Something flew away there...

0:10:36 > 0:10:37Across the arena floor.

0:10:37 > 0:10:40Some sort of piston, I'm not too sure.

0:10:40 > 0:10:42Something came flying out.

0:10:42 > 0:10:45I tell you what, TMHWK took a fly and landed,

0:10:45 > 0:10:46crash-landed, that is.

0:10:49 > 0:10:52There's bits of machinery, there's mayhem,

0:10:52 > 0:10:55there's a mashing and bashing and crashing. But...!

0:10:58 > 0:11:01Dead Metal's up on the side. Cobra is underneath.

0:11:01 > 0:11:04Oh, this is brilliant.

0:11:04 > 0:11:08TMHWK and Gabriel 2, Cobra and Apollo wedging Dead Metal.

0:11:10 > 0:11:12Dead Metal was trying to restore some order out there.

0:11:12 > 0:11:14It got flipped on its side.

0:11:15 > 0:11:18So much for the power of House Robots.

0:11:18 > 0:11:21Oh, Gabriel 2 dug in on the side of the picture.

0:11:21 > 0:11:24Oh, TMHWK! No, no, no!

0:11:24 > 0:11:26KLAXON

0:11:26 > 0:11:29Oh, TMHWK literally gets the axe from this fight.

0:11:29 > 0:11:31Drove itself into the pit!

0:11:32 > 0:11:34Dead Metal's angry.

0:11:34 > 0:11:36Dead Metal is angry.

0:11:36 > 0:11:38And that's a forlorn sight.

0:11:38 > 0:11:40But what a battle!

0:11:40 > 0:11:41A victory for the UK.

0:11:43 > 0:11:47- Well done, well done.- Brilliant! - Handshakes all round.

0:11:47 > 0:11:50This is the first time I have seen Gabriel land so many shots.

0:11:50 > 0:11:56- It was, he landed lots of... - It was good tag-teaming, I thought.

0:11:56 > 0:12:00Well, Apollo went in underneath Cobra,

0:12:00 > 0:12:03but Cobra read it. Look at the fur of Diotoir there.

0:12:03 > 0:12:06Little team mascot.

0:12:06 > 0:12:10Dead Metal and Apollo ground together.

0:12:10 > 0:12:13Now, did Apollo sustain any real damage there?

0:12:13 > 0:12:18Gabriel 2, hit after hit after hit throughout that tag team battle.

0:12:18 > 0:12:20Bouncing, flouncing.

0:12:22 > 0:12:23Traction...

0:12:24 > 0:12:28..gained by those rubber tyres on the great wheels.

0:12:29 > 0:12:32And then Dead Metal caught in a pincer movement.

0:12:33 > 0:12:36TMHWK straight into the pit.

0:12:36 > 0:12:37Why? Why?

0:12:39 > 0:12:41Ah, we enjoyed that.

0:12:41 > 0:12:43That was a lot of fun, that was very good, that was great.

0:12:43 > 0:12:46You were still going at the end there. That's a bit harsh!

0:12:46 > 0:12:49Here, let me get between the two of you. That was a great old fight.

0:12:50 > 0:12:53Didn't dip anyone out, you're still in there.

0:12:53 > 0:12:56- Then you drove into a hole for some reason.- She did.- Sorry!

0:12:56 > 0:12:59You drove into a hole, for some reason.

0:12:59 > 0:13:03Because honestly, we were watching you flipping a house robot

0:13:03 > 0:13:04and then, out of the corner of my eye,

0:13:04 > 0:13:07under no danger or no imminent attack,

0:13:07 > 0:13:12you decided to, "I'm in the pit." And slowly as well.

0:13:12 > 0:13:14A brilliant fight, a really great fight.

0:13:14 > 0:13:16But because it was a judges decision,

0:13:16 > 0:13:19it will only be two points for the winner, but the winner was Team UK!

0:13:28 > 0:13:30Well done!

0:13:32 > 0:13:33- Well done!- Thank you.

0:13:33 > 0:13:36I mean, I'm saying well done, you did end up in the pit.

0:13:36 > 0:13:39Come on, let's move. Come on, help me out!

0:13:41 > 0:13:43I should go after you!

0:13:43 > 0:13:46It wasn't the plan, I assume, to end up in the pit.

0:13:46 > 0:13:49- No, I had a little technical problem.- A little technical problem.

0:13:49 > 0:13:51- Yeah, we're going to solve it. - You are?- We'll come back.

0:13:51 > 0:13:54OK, I love the positivity. Go, solve the problem.

0:13:54 > 0:13:56Solve the problem!

0:14:03 > 0:14:06There are so many male teams, or male-female teams,

0:14:06 > 0:14:08but no female teams.

0:14:09 > 0:14:14And now we have this mission, like, we want to do this ourselves.

0:14:16 > 0:14:19You have all the tools, all the power tools.

0:14:19 > 0:14:23So, I really want to encourage all the females out of there,

0:14:23 > 0:14:26all the female roboteers, all the new females,

0:14:26 > 0:14:29come and start your own female robot team.

0:14:32 > 0:14:34It was a good battle, actually.

0:14:34 > 0:14:36We felt a bit rusty with regards to the driving.

0:14:43 > 0:14:45Toby's accuracy wasn't as good as it usually is.

0:14:48 > 0:14:51We got plenty of good hits on TMHWK, which was great.

0:14:51 > 0:14:52And those ladies are so gracious

0:14:52 > 0:14:55and they had such good fun, it was really, really good.

0:14:55 > 0:14:58And we're really pleased to actually get a win.

0:15:01 > 0:15:03It's a strong start for Team UK...

0:15:05 > 0:15:08Time now for the second tag team battle.

0:15:09 > 0:15:11Team UK's Terrorhurtz and Sabretooth...

0:15:12 > 0:15:16..taking on Diotoir and a Rabid M8 from the Rest Of The World.

0:15:20 > 0:15:22The competition is quite stiff.

0:15:22 > 0:15:25UK robots are well-advanced

0:15:25 > 0:15:28and they've been going now for a number of competitions.

0:15:28 > 0:15:29The rest of the world...

0:15:31 > 0:15:32..maybe not so much.

0:15:33 > 0:15:35But it's going to be a good competition.

0:15:35 > 0:15:37And at the end of it, we're going to win.

0:15:38 > 0:15:40Keen to get some points on the board,

0:15:40 > 0:15:44team captain Peter has a plan and seems focused on the victory.

0:15:46 > 0:15:48We've got to make sure that we work together as a team,

0:15:48 > 0:15:51so we have to come in, let the other robot out as many times as we can.

0:15:51 > 0:15:54- Let's do it.- Let's go.

0:15:54 > 0:15:58In contrast, UK captain Dave feeling confident.

0:15:58 > 0:16:00There's no other robots in the world like UK robots.

0:16:00 > 0:16:02All the other countries are following us,

0:16:02 > 0:16:05but they're nowhere near the level that the UK are doing so far.

0:16:05 > 0:16:06What do you want us to do?

0:16:06 > 0:16:09Right, maybe you go for Diotoir with your axe.

0:16:09 > 0:16:11Who are we going to start with, though?

0:16:11 > 0:16:15- I think, whoever they choose, we choose...- Yes, we react to them.

0:16:15 > 0:16:18- We'll wait for them.- All clear?- It's cool, I love that.- Let's go, team!

0:16:20 > 0:16:23In the arena for this round, international robot of mystery...

0:16:27 > 0:16:28..Shunt.

0:16:33 > 0:16:36Roboteers, stand by.

0:16:40 > 0:16:44Three, two, one...

0:16:44 > 0:16:46Activate.

0:16:46 > 0:16:4815 years of waiting is over

0:16:48 > 0:16:52for Diotoir, coming into the arena to meet Terrorhurtz. Oh!

0:16:52 > 0:16:54Well, one of the eyes has gone straight away.

0:16:54 > 0:16:58- Terrorhurtz has taken his eyes out. - Taken his eyebrow off now.

0:16:58 > 0:17:00- Next! He's dead.- Ah!

0:17:01 > 0:17:05I think poor old Peter's team have gone here straightaway!

0:17:05 > 0:17:07The first impact of the big axe.

0:17:08 > 0:17:10You can see the weaponry spinning of Diotoir,

0:17:10 > 0:17:12they're going nowhere, though.

0:17:14 > 0:17:18And they're immobilised there, which means Rabid M8 can come in.

0:17:18 > 0:17:20Terrorhurtz can go back into the CPZ

0:17:20 > 0:17:23and be tagged by Sabretooth, that's what happened.

0:17:23 > 0:17:26- And that's that.- What?

0:17:26 > 0:17:28- Come on!- Well done, lads.

0:17:29 > 0:17:31Well, well, well.

0:17:31 > 0:17:34What happened here, in that Corner Patrol Zone?

0:17:34 > 0:17:38Good attack by Sabretooth, spinning Rabid M8 onto its side.

0:17:39 > 0:17:43And I think three points here for Team UK coming their way,

0:17:43 > 0:17:46unless there's a massive fight back from the rest of the world.

0:17:50 > 0:17:54There's the tyre. Goes to that right-hand side, as we see it,

0:17:54 > 0:17:56which means we have fog of war,

0:17:56 > 0:17:58which can be used as a tactic, of course.

0:17:59 > 0:18:02Robots can hide in the fog, it didn't last very long.

0:18:03 > 0:18:06- KLAXON - Just brutalised Diotoir.

0:18:06 > 0:18:09Cease is called and a win for the UK.

0:18:09 > 0:18:12Has to be, has to be. Poor old Diotoir!

0:18:13 > 0:18:16Burn, baby! Go on!

0:18:16 > 0:18:18Yes! He's going!

0:18:18 > 0:18:20Aw!

0:18:20 > 0:18:22- Witch!- Fire!

0:18:25 > 0:18:30- Burn, baby, burn!- I didn't even hit him. We didn't hit him very hard.

0:18:30 > 0:18:33- All I can say is you got away with it lucky there.- Yeah, we did!

0:18:37 > 0:18:40Well, Diotoir clearly weren't ready for what was to come

0:18:40 > 0:18:42and what came at them, Terrorhurtz. A wry smile from Peter,

0:18:42 > 0:18:44he knows it's all over there.

0:18:47 > 0:18:49Underwhelming from the Rest Of The World team.

0:18:49 > 0:18:51They're going to have to do a lot better than this,

0:18:51 > 0:18:53otherwise it's going to be a whitewash

0:18:53 > 0:18:56because in came Rabid M8 and one hit from Sabretooth

0:18:56 > 0:18:59was enough to put paid to Portugal's finest.

0:18:59 > 0:19:01You can just see there, the removable safety link

0:19:01 > 0:19:03come flying out.

0:19:03 > 0:19:05Crashed down, no way back from there.

0:19:05 > 0:19:07Too easy, John Reid, wasn't it, really?

0:19:07 > 0:19:09It will have to get tougher from here. It will do.

0:19:11 > 0:19:15And then, over and out, Diotoir. Muah!

0:19:15 > 0:19:18Could you do me a favour? If you find any bits of Diotoir,

0:19:18 > 0:19:19I mean, this...

0:19:20 > 0:19:22- This is an eyeball.- And a brush.

0:19:22 > 0:19:24- That's an eyebrow.- Oh, sorry!

0:19:24 > 0:19:27That stuff that came off. This is...

0:19:27 > 0:19:29You did fine, there's another bit of eyeball over there.

0:19:29 > 0:19:32God love him, would you look at him? The poor thing.

0:19:32 > 0:19:34He said he promised he'd go on fire.

0:19:34 > 0:19:36Yes, you won, you won very well.

0:19:36 > 0:19:38That's three points for Team UK!

0:19:38 > 0:19:41THEY CHEER

0:19:46 > 0:19:48The Rest Of The World have yet to score

0:19:48 > 0:19:51and team captain Peter's feeling the pressure.

0:19:53 > 0:19:56Peter, Peter, Peter, what happened? What was the problem?

0:19:56 > 0:19:57Apart from this.

0:19:57 > 0:20:00- The thing about these robots is they're very dangerous.- Yes.

0:20:00 > 0:20:04So, they make us do something about putting these safety links in,

0:20:04 > 0:20:07so that they can pull them out if the robot gets out of control.

0:20:07 > 0:20:11Unfortunately, the safety link fell out and made it too safe.

0:20:11 > 0:20:14- In fact, it just killed it. - How far into it?

0:20:14 > 0:20:18- Right at the very start.- So, that's all that happened? What a killer.

0:20:18 > 0:20:19- OK.- It's the worst way to die.

0:20:19 > 0:20:23It is the worst way to die but it means that it's not a major issue.

0:20:23 > 0:20:24- Everything's working perfectly.- OK.

0:20:24 > 0:20:27I've got some new fresh fur, fix the eyes, new eyebrows,

0:20:27 > 0:20:29- we'll be sorted. - I was just going to say,

0:20:29 > 0:20:31you're going to dickie him up again before he goes in.

0:20:37 > 0:20:38I can imagine the international teams

0:20:38 > 0:20:40will be a bit disappointed with that.

0:20:40 > 0:20:43I'm sure they'll be working furiously on their machines,

0:20:43 > 0:20:45getting them ready and sorting them out

0:20:45 > 0:20:47and taping the links in, so they don't pop out.

0:20:47 > 0:20:51So, I suspect the next fight might be a bit tougher.

0:20:56 > 0:20:59It's really great to see Pete from the Diotoir team back again

0:20:59 > 0:21:01after all these years,

0:21:01 > 0:21:04just that unique colour scheme he has.

0:21:04 > 0:21:08We were on pit tables next to each other in Series 5.

0:21:08 > 0:21:10Such an iconic machine,

0:21:10 > 0:21:14so recognisable, distinctive with his red fur on there.

0:21:14 > 0:21:16Bit of fire, occasionally.

0:21:19 > 0:21:21Diotoir did what he's famous for,

0:21:21 > 0:21:24but it was a frustrating return to the arena for Peter.

0:21:29 > 0:21:33- A lot of people love this robot, from old.- A long time ago.- Yeah.

0:21:33 > 0:21:35Do you feel that at all?

0:21:35 > 0:21:36From your fellow team-mates?

0:21:36 > 0:21:38There's a wonderful atmosphere

0:21:38 > 0:21:40and I feel I've disappointed some of the fans.

0:21:40 > 0:21:43You know, but the support is there as well.

0:21:43 > 0:21:45I can feel the support, the warmth in the room.

0:21:45 > 0:21:47And, you know, we're all rooting for it.

0:21:47 > 0:21:50Robot Wars has changed a lot since we first started.

0:21:50 > 0:21:54Three, two, one... Activate!

0:21:55 > 0:21:57When we first started, robots were made out of tinfoil

0:21:57 > 0:21:59and wood and plastic.

0:21:59 > 0:22:02Now, they're made out of high-grade metals and Hardox.

0:22:02 > 0:22:06Diotoir's a lot of fun and our team was always a lot of fun.

0:22:06 > 0:22:08But we did some serious damage out of there,

0:22:08 > 0:22:11we took some trophies home and we won a lot of matches.

0:22:11 > 0:22:12What a shock this is!

0:22:12 > 0:22:16Diotoir nearly went in but Tornado crash out.

0:22:16 > 0:22:19We lost a lot and we went on fire a lot, but we took home some trophies.

0:22:19 > 0:22:21Diotoir's on fire.

0:22:22 > 0:22:24We've seen that before.

0:22:26 > 0:22:31After the tag team battles, the UK are in front with five points.

0:22:31 > 0:22:34Now, robots from each team must go head-to-head.

0:22:35 > 0:22:38First up in the solo head-to-head rounds,

0:22:38 > 0:22:41it's Sabretooth from the UK against a Belgium's Cobra.

0:22:42 > 0:22:45Like most of these teams here, Marco's day job couldn't be

0:22:45 > 0:22:48further away from the world of robot fighting.

0:22:49 > 0:22:50Can I interrupted Team Cobra?

0:22:50 > 0:22:52I know you're in the middle of doing a lot of

0:22:52 > 0:22:54very important high-powered work, Marco.

0:22:54 > 0:22:56This isn't your day job though, is it?

0:22:56 > 0:22:59No, I'm selling fish on local markets each day.

0:22:59 > 0:23:00- You sell fish in a market?- Yeah.

0:23:00 > 0:23:03Oh, fantastic, wow! That's really...

0:23:03 > 0:23:06That's as removed from this as you could possibly imagine.

0:23:06 > 0:23:08Yes, nothing to do with any technical...

0:23:08 > 0:23:11And Sabretooth, are you scared of Sabretooth?

0:23:11 > 0:23:13A little bit.

0:23:13 > 0:23:15Sabretooth's drum is very dangerous.

0:23:15 > 0:23:18It has really destroyed several robots, so...

0:23:18 > 0:23:19I'm scared.

0:23:21 > 0:23:24Give it to him, give it to him! Come on!

0:23:24 > 0:23:26Hit him again, go and hit him!

0:23:26 > 0:23:28I don't care, hit him!

0:23:30 > 0:23:34How will we beat an expensive robot like Sabretooth?

0:23:34 > 0:23:38I think we're going to grab them into the CPZ area,

0:23:38 > 0:23:40see with the house robot, or push them into the pit.

0:23:42 > 0:23:45- Right, just before you go to the arena, are we all set?- Yes, we are.

0:23:45 > 0:23:48It's a little bit of a change of gear because, obviously,

0:23:48 > 0:23:50you had a tag team last time, back in the zone.

0:23:50 > 0:23:53But with the weight of a team on top of you,

0:23:53 > 0:23:54does that change how you fight?

0:23:54 > 0:23:56Erm, well, you've got to follow the captain.

0:23:56 > 0:23:58That's obviously important in a team.

0:23:58 > 0:23:59So, what has he ordered you to do?

0:23:59 > 0:24:03He's ordered us to get that drum going, do some drifting.

0:24:03 > 0:24:05Does it change the dynamic?

0:24:05 > 0:24:07An international team, you're up against Cobra.

0:24:07 > 0:24:10- Do they fight differently...? - Of course they fight differently.

0:24:10 > 0:24:14Different countries are all going to fight differently from each other.

0:24:14 > 0:24:16- OK, right, good luck. - Thank you very much.

0:24:18 > 0:24:22I've had a look round Cobra. Good, solid robot, powerful robot.

0:24:23 > 0:24:27Very chunky, good chunky tyres, got lots of good outer armour.

0:24:27 > 0:24:29But I think with the drum running up full blast,

0:24:29 > 0:24:31we should be able to shave those bits and pieces off him.

0:24:33 > 0:24:35Sabretooth looks set to rely on brute force,

0:24:35 > 0:24:38so the Rest Of The World team hatch a plan

0:24:38 > 0:24:40to counter the UK drum spinner.

0:24:40 > 0:24:42I think, if you hold back for too long,

0:24:42 > 0:24:44you're going to lose points for aggression.

0:24:44 > 0:24:47So, it would probably be a good idea to not hold back so long

0:24:47 > 0:24:48and try and get in there.

0:24:48 > 0:24:51Remember they only have 2WD, you've got 4WD,

0:24:51 > 0:24:53you've got twice as much power as them.

0:24:53 > 0:24:55You'll be able to push them around. If you can get that pit down,

0:24:55 > 0:24:58- you definitely have the advantage with the 4WD.- Absolutely.

0:24:58 > 0:25:00OK, like this.

0:25:00 > 0:25:01- Ready?- Hey!

0:25:03 > 0:25:05It's a crucial bout for the Rest Of The World team,

0:25:05 > 0:25:07who need some points on the board.

0:25:08 > 0:25:11Marco van Hek is a fish salesmen

0:25:11 > 0:25:14and is entirely self-taught as a roboteer.

0:25:14 > 0:25:17He saw Robot Wars years ago and thought he could do better.

0:25:17 > 0:25:20Also on his team is his teenage son Bran.

0:25:20 > 0:25:21The robot has a hydraulic crusher

0:25:21 > 0:25:24and is interchangeable with a lifter.

0:25:24 > 0:25:27It may look like a simple machine, but it's not be underestimated.

0:25:27 > 0:25:29It boasts incredible pushing power.

0:25:29 > 0:25:32It's protected by 2-3mm of hardened steel

0:25:32 > 0:25:35and it has four-wheel-drive.

0:25:35 > 0:25:39Sabretooth and their powerful drum spinner round off Team UK.

0:25:39 > 0:25:42This hand-built machine led by the ever emotional

0:25:42 > 0:25:45Gabriel Stroud from Surrey will be looking to deal some damage out

0:25:45 > 0:25:48with their enormous drum spinner,

0:25:48 > 0:25:51a 22-kilo solid steel barrel that's been handcrafted

0:25:51 > 0:25:56and the machine, taking over 200 hours of labour to complete.

0:25:56 > 0:26:00Will that hard work pay off and bring the points home for the UK?

0:26:00 > 0:26:03Or will it be failure once again for Team Sabretooth?

0:26:05 > 0:26:07In the arena for this battle,

0:26:07 > 0:26:11the UN special envoys for moody killer robots

0:26:11 > 0:26:14and destruction of all humankind -

0:26:14 > 0:26:17Sir Killalot and Dead Metal.

0:26:21 > 0:26:24Roboteers, stand by!

0:26:24 > 0:26:27Team UK! Come on! Going down!

0:26:30 > 0:26:34- Let's do this.- Three, two, one...

0:26:35 > 0:26:37Activate!

0:26:37 > 0:26:40Marco and Cobra, entirely self-taught,

0:26:40 > 0:26:46against Sabretooth and Gabriel, who's quietly confident.

0:26:46 > 0:26:47A lovely man.

0:26:47 > 0:26:49He's become very mean with Robot Wars.

0:26:51 > 0:26:54There's a little nudge onto the Dial Of Doom,

0:26:54 > 0:26:57tactically done to bring out the fog of war.

0:26:57 > 0:27:01In that fog, you can take up a decent position on the arena floor

0:27:01 > 0:27:03to come in with maybe a different angle of attack

0:27:03 > 0:27:05to hit an opponent on the side.

0:27:05 > 0:27:08Cobra from Belgium did just that then on Sabretooth,

0:27:08 > 0:27:11- the smaller machine. - Get in there, come on, Gabe!

0:27:11 > 0:27:15Both very quick, Cobra the quicker machine by 5mph.

0:27:15 > 0:27:18- Go, robot, go, robot! - There goes the Dial Of Doom -

0:27:18 > 0:27:22that's released the house robot to come out into play

0:27:22 > 0:27:24and attacking Sabretooth immediately.

0:27:24 > 0:27:27Sir Killalot out there in the arena floor.

0:27:27 > 0:27:31Oh, that's the most resilient hit we've seen so far,

0:27:31 > 0:27:34the biggest impact, and it came from Cobra on Sabretooth.

0:27:34 > 0:27:36Cobra with a drive.

0:27:36 > 0:27:39Onto Sabretooth, into the CPZ.

0:27:39 > 0:27:40They need to get out of that coroner.

0:27:40 > 0:27:42Get out of there, get out of there!

0:27:43 > 0:27:46They're piggybacking, not sustaining any damage.

0:27:46 > 0:27:49If they can sandwich them, Cobra, between their weaponry

0:27:49 > 0:27:52and the arena wall, then they can cause damage.

0:27:52 > 0:27:54Sabretooth seems to be OK.

0:27:54 > 0:27:56In again, same tactic.

0:27:56 > 0:27:58Into that corner.

0:27:58 > 0:28:01Sabretooth up on one side, dancing, prancing.

0:28:01 > 0:28:03That's a new trick from Gabriel.

0:28:03 > 0:28:05Yeah! Yeah!

0:28:05 > 0:28:07Oh, and he's done it.

0:28:07 > 0:28:10He's self-righted using the spinning drum...

0:28:10 > 0:28:12With that balletic poise.

0:28:12 > 0:28:13Or was he showboating?

0:28:18 > 0:28:21Big head-to-head.

0:28:21 > 0:28:23Cobra got in underneath with the front flipper weaponry.

0:28:24 > 0:28:29Sabretooth's drum spinning at 7,000 rpm.

0:28:29 > 0:28:35Dancing away, there, from the pincers of Killalot.

0:28:35 > 0:28:40And again, Cobra using the extra speed, the weight,

0:28:40 > 0:28:42the power to get in underneath Sabretooth.

0:28:43 > 0:28:46Cobra in control of this head-to-head.

0:28:46 > 0:28:49They just need to stay out of trouble and they didn't do it there,

0:28:49 > 0:28:51and now pinched by Dead Metal.

0:28:53 > 0:28:55You! Ha-ha!

0:28:56 > 0:29:00Well, they've recovered strongly because it was all Cobra earlier on.

0:29:00 > 0:29:02Will it be Cobra's turn again?

0:29:02 > 0:29:05How much damage is being sustained by Sabretooth?

0:29:05 > 0:29:08They look to be in control as they pirouetted.

0:29:08 > 0:29:10Cobra, not a controlled dash across the arena floor.

0:29:12 > 0:29:15Is this showboating from Sabretooth, I wonder?

0:29:15 > 0:29:17Or are they fully in control?

0:29:20 > 0:29:22But Cobra coming.

0:29:22 > 0:29:23The Dial...

0:29:23 > 0:29:25Not quite released,

0:29:25 > 0:29:28which means that Cobra was put in peril in the CPZ.

0:29:30 > 0:29:33They've got away. Again, this strange dancing by Sabretooth.

0:29:33 > 0:29:37Is that other wheel working or are they restricted?

0:29:39 > 0:29:41- See? We've got style. - Yay! And it's out.

0:29:43 > 0:29:46Come on, Dave, you know better than that. In goes Cobra!

0:29:47 > 0:29:50Again, Sabretooth seemed to be riding this sort of

0:29:50 > 0:29:52punishing frontal attack by Cobra.

0:29:52 > 0:29:55Back to corner! Take him out.

0:29:57 > 0:30:01A pensive, focused team captain there.

0:30:01 > 0:30:02KLAXON

0:30:02 > 0:30:04- Cease is called.- Yeah!

0:30:07 > 0:30:09- Whoohoo!- That was awesome.

0:30:09 > 0:30:12- Well done, guys.- Come on, no, no running away!

0:30:12 > 0:30:15- That was amazing. Brilliant, well done.- Well done, guys.

0:30:15 > 0:30:17I've never seen them doing that before.

0:30:17 > 0:30:20- The gyro dance, they call it the gyro dance.- The gyro dance.

0:30:22 > 0:30:25There's Cobra on the attack on Sabretooth.

0:30:25 > 0:30:29Sabretooth managed to repel the attacks.

0:30:29 > 0:30:32We loved the dancing, got in underneath Cobra.

0:30:32 > 0:30:35This is a resilient machine from Belgium, isn't it?

0:30:35 > 0:30:40But its great weaponry and manoeuvrability...

0:30:40 > 0:30:42Oh, we love this. Ah!

0:30:43 > 0:30:46And Sabretooth dances on.

0:30:46 > 0:30:48Ah, in super slow-mo, it looks even better.

0:30:54 > 0:30:58Hang on, it's not celebration time just yet.

0:30:58 > 0:31:00But it was certainly a better attempt.

0:31:00 > 0:31:03It looked like Team UK were going to steam-roll straight through this.

0:31:03 > 0:31:06That was a bit more of a fair battle. Do you want to hear who won?

0:31:06 > 0:31:10- Yeah, go on, then.- OK, the judges made a unanimous decision...

0:31:11 > 0:31:14..in favour of...

0:31:14 > 0:31:16- ..Cobra!- Yay!

0:31:17 > 0:31:20And that means that Cobra are off the mark with two points,

0:31:20 > 0:31:23five points to the UK, but it's a contest again.

0:31:29 > 0:31:32That fight was amazing, I think it was one of our best fights.

0:31:32 > 0:31:36And you see our pirouette, our dance? What can be better than that?

0:31:36 > 0:31:37We should have won on that alone.

0:31:37 > 0:31:40It is Strictly Come Dancing, that was an amazing dance.

0:31:40 > 0:31:42We did lots of damage, and you know what?

0:31:42 > 0:31:44I don't care if we didn't win

0:31:44 > 0:31:46because that was the fight of your dreams, wasn't it?

0:31:46 > 0:31:48That's what it was.

0:31:48 > 0:31:50Sabretooth, there's nothing to talk about Sabretooth.

0:31:50 > 0:31:55He likes to talk but that's all he's doing, just talk and no action.

0:31:58 > 0:32:02That judges decision gives the Rest Of The World Team two points

0:32:02 > 0:32:04and that gets them back in the competition.

0:32:04 > 0:32:07The scores now stand...

0:32:11 > 0:32:14It's not all about the heavyweight robots.

0:32:14 > 0:32:17Dara caught up with head Judge Noel to talk about the surprising power

0:32:17 > 0:32:19of the antweights.

0:32:20 > 0:32:22Noel, we see these huge beasts of robots that we have here.

0:32:22 > 0:32:25And people might watch it and go, "I could never get

0:32:25 > 0:32:28"involved in the sport because I can't do engineering at that scale."

0:32:28 > 0:32:31- But this is really only the tip of the iceberg.- Yes, it is.

0:32:31 > 0:32:34I mean, there's a lot of other kinds of robot.

0:32:34 > 0:32:37To build a robot, that would cost you about 1,500 quid

0:32:37 > 0:32:41at the low end and up to 38,000 they're paying for them.

0:32:41 > 0:32:44So, really, where you want to start is in these,

0:32:44 > 0:32:48and these are called antweights. So, it's a very good place to start.

0:32:48 > 0:32:50One of our expert micro-robot drivers

0:32:50 > 0:32:51is Alex from Nuts.

0:32:51 > 0:32:53Yeah, so this is a very popular weight class,

0:32:53 > 0:32:55very easy to get involved, cheap to build.

0:32:55 > 0:32:58You can try out some unusual ideas with these

0:32:58 > 0:32:59without breaking the bank.

0:32:59 > 0:33:01OK, that's a flipper.

0:33:01 > 0:33:03Let me see it, go on, touch the pen, see if you can do it.

0:33:03 > 0:33:06Oh! Nicely done.

0:33:06 > 0:33:07- First go!- Yeah.

0:33:09 > 0:33:12THEY LAUGH And even celebrates!

0:33:12 > 0:33:14They're gorgeous, how much would that be?

0:33:14 > 0:33:17So, this one only cost me I think about £90 to build.

0:33:17 > 0:33:20You're using the same controls, so it all just scales up from there.

0:33:20 > 0:33:23That's antweight, what are we up to when we get to this size?

0:33:23 > 0:33:25- Beetleweight. - Beetleweight.- That's right.

0:33:25 > 0:33:27And it just moves up, like boxing, for example?

0:33:27 > 0:33:29Yes, this is the next big one.

0:33:29 > 0:33:31This is where you'd want to move really, from there.

0:33:31 > 0:33:32- Yes.- So, that's a featherweight.

0:33:32 > 0:33:34Start with this, move to this

0:33:34 > 0:33:36and then start to get onto the big ones.

0:33:36 > 0:33:39That's fantastic. Go on, give me one more celebration.

0:33:43 > 0:33:44Thank you very much.

0:33:46 > 0:33:48And if you still don't think the ants can beat the giants,

0:33:48 > 0:33:51here's Alex last series, taking on the might

0:33:51 > 0:33:54of the Behemoth and even Carbide.

0:33:54 > 0:33:57That's one of the Nuts 2 little minibots out there.

0:33:57 > 0:34:01And they've pushed the pit, and down goes Behemoth!

0:34:01 > 0:34:03What happened there?

0:34:03 > 0:34:05The little one pushed the pit.

0:34:05 > 0:34:07Oh, dang it!

0:34:07 > 0:34:11Carbide has one wheel spinning but not the other. They need to move.

0:34:11 > 0:34:14They've been counted down, goodness me, how can they survive that?

0:34:15 > 0:34:17Just one second, he got away!

0:34:17 > 0:34:20They were nearly counted out.

0:34:20 > 0:34:22A little nudge from the wedge helps.

0:34:22 > 0:34:25That's two on top. Carbide need a miracle.

0:34:25 > 0:34:28Basically, a tiny robot is beating Carbide.

0:34:28 > 0:34:29Oh, the ignominy!

0:34:29 > 0:34:34The champions being chased around by a tiny, teeny touchy little thing.

0:34:36 > 0:34:39Up next, it's a battle of the axes,

0:34:39 > 0:34:43as the UK's Terrorhurtz faces TMHWK from the Netherlands.

0:34:45 > 0:34:48John Reid is a very experienced driver.

0:34:48 > 0:34:51He is really amazing and I admire him.

0:34:51 > 0:34:55And what I did over the years, I watched his performance

0:34:55 > 0:35:01time and again, learned from him and I know that he will expect

0:35:01 > 0:35:04other roboteers to know what he will be doing.

0:35:05 > 0:35:08So, I need to get him off balance.

0:35:08 > 0:35:11But then, at the moment that he least expects it,

0:35:11 > 0:35:15come in and hit him where he is least armoured.

0:35:15 > 0:35:19But there is a strange conflict of interest for John from Terrorhurtz,

0:35:19 > 0:35:22as the team from the Netherlands are using his old axe.

0:35:23 > 0:35:26TMHWK, another axe, same as us.

0:35:26 > 0:35:30Its mechanism was inspired by the mechanism

0:35:30 > 0:35:33I designed for Terrorhurtz back in 2002

0:35:33 > 0:35:37and it actually has an old axe arm from Terrorhurtz.

0:35:37 > 0:35:41I gave the original owner an old axe arm, I was redesigning mine,

0:35:41 > 0:35:45so I gave him my old one and it's still on there, 12 years later.

0:35:45 > 0:35:48So, it's good to see Terrorhurtz fighting Terrorhurtz.

0:35:49 > 0:35:52Well, it's an honour to be with you in the arena.

0:35:57 > 0:35:59So, we've got to be pretty careful out there.

0:35:59 > 0:36:01We don't want to be beaten by our own axe.

0:36:04 > 0:36:06It would be quite nice to break it, wouldn't it?

0:36:10 > 0:36:13- A lot of their bodywork is quite open.- Yes.

0:36:13 > 0:36:16I think the main thing is to try and get in, around as quickly

0:36:16 > 0:36:21as possible, and get as many hits in on top of the robot as you can.

0:36:21 > 0:36:25- Sound good?- OK.- Let's do this. - All right!- OK!

0:36:28 > 0:36:31Terrorhurtz with John Reid, the veteran of the UK team.

0:36:31 > 0:36:34Some say he's related to King Arthur.

0:36:34 > 0:36:36John and the weapons operator Nick will attempt to

0:36:36 > 0:36:40rain down over one tonne of pain on their opponents with an axe

0:36:40 > 0:36:43that fires at speeds of 100mph.

0:36:43 > 0:36:45Terrorhurtz are the only team in tonight's competition to have

0:36:45 > 0:36:48been around long enough to have featured on the series

0:36:48 > 0:36:51when the Rest Of The World team captain Diotoir was on our screens.

0:36:51 > 0:36:53I've heard the fur might be a weakness.

0:36:55 > 0:36:58John and Nick will be up against the devastating Dutch axe

0:36:58 > 0:37:00of TMHWK in their head-to-head clash,

0:37:00 > 0:37:04a machine that uses technology that John himself invented.

0:37:04 > 0:37:07Annita van der Meer is a former maths and physics teacher.

0:37:07 > 0:37:09She designs her own board games.

0:37:09 > 0:37:10For the past 16 years,

0:37:10 > 0:37:14Team TMHWK have been members of the Dutch Robot Games Organisation.

0:37:14 > 0:37:18They want to inspire younger generations of female engineers.

0:37:18 > 0:37:20The robot has pneumatic powered interchangeable axe heads,

0:37:20 > 0:37:233.2mm hardened steel armour.

0:37:23 > 0:37:26Terrorhurtz has been the king of the axe bot for years.

0:37:26 > 0:37:29Is it now time for the Dutch robot queens to take over?

0:37:31 > 0:37:36Who's up for the chop, as these two axe bots bash blades in the arena?

0:37:36 > 0:37:38The house robots for this international head-to-head,

0:37:38 > 0:37:40fresh from a cheeky little city break...

0:37:43 > 0:37:46It's Matilda and Killalot.

0:37:46 > 0:37:50Three, two, one...

0:37:50 > 0:37:52Activate.

0:37:52 > 0:37:55The master and the apprentice.

0:37:55 > 0:37:59John Reid is the hero of the TMHWK team.

0:37:59 > 0:38:04Indeed, that TMHWK axe used to belong to Terrorhurtz.

0:38:04 > 0:38:07Two team captains up in their control booths as well,

0:38:07 > 0:38:09Peter Redmond and Dave Young to give advice.

0:38:09 > 0:38:14TMHWK goes for the Dial Of Doom, which releases the pit of gloom.

0:38:14 > 0:38:17And they're wedged in there on the side... Big hit!

0:38:17 > 0:38:19- And again, and again! - You've got to get out of there.

0:38:19 > 0:38:24Now...both captains giving advice.

0:38:24 > 0:38:27Is that bothersome for the competitors?

0:38:27 > 0:38:31I wonder, do you need that advice in there?

0:38:31 > 0:38:33They need to focus on what they're doing.

0:38:33 > 0:38:34Big hits, but they missed, both of them.

0:38:36 > 0:38:39Bring it into the middle, guys. Whoa!

0:38:39 > 0:38:44John, who's been around since 1066.

0:38:44 > 0:38:47- Try not to be between him and the...- Stop talking!

0:38:47 > 0:38:49- Stop talking?! - THEY LAUGH

0:38:49 > 0:38:52She's just told Peter Redmond to shut up, I think!

0:38:54 > 0:38:56She's had enough!

0:38:58 > 0:39:00Now comes the blast...

0:39:00 > 0:39:01Terrorhurtz. Oh, weaponry!

0:39:03 > 0:39:08And I think the axe of TMHWK is gone. Oh, look at this!

0:39:08 > 0:39:10The axe is broken off.

0:39:10 > 0:39:14The impact against the arena wall and from the house robot

0:39:14 > 0:39:17has left Annita defenceless.

0:39:17 > 0:39:19- Oh, the axe has come off!- What?!

0:39:19 > 0:39:21Their axe has fallen off.

0:39:21 > 0:39:23Yeah, the hammer just came off.

0:39:23 > 0:39:25Right, she's got to run around now.

0:39:25 > 0:39:30And all they can do now is avoid Terrorhurtz, avoid the house robots.

0:39:30 > 0:39:33- No, no!- Go, go!

0:39:33 > 0:39:37And we all know what's going to happen, don't we? Do we? Yes, we do.

0:39:37 > 0:39:41- One last hit.- One last hit, go on. - One good hit. Wait, wait...

0:39:41 > 0:39:43Wait for the good hit.

0:39:44 > 0:39:45Now!

0:39:49 > 0:39:52Next time, take your own remote control.

0:39:53 > 0:39:56Ah, there you go. "Shut up, captain!"

0:39:58 > 0:40:00Great fight, thank you very much.

0:40:00 > 0:40:03- Yes, well done. - Yes, very! Very good!

0:40:03 > 0:40:05- Good job.- Thank you, John. I loved it.

0:40:08 > 0:40:11Well, Terrorhurtz was the more aggressive and caused more damage.

0:40:14 > 0:40:16Had the greater control.

0:40:19 > 0:40:22Just look at that sort of damage they can mete out

0:40:22 > 0:40:24with that mighty weapon.

0:40:27 > 0:40:29But once the weaponry had gone, one winner only.

0:40:31 > 0:40:33Terrorhurtz, for me, always the best.

0:40:35 > 0:40:37That was a battle of the hammers.

0:40:37 > 0:40:39Happy with that?

0:40:39 > 0:40:40Yeah, that was good, wasn't it?

0:40:40 > 0:40:42Obviously, you've got the bigger axe

0:40:42 > 0:40:45- and that proved the point of it, then.- Yeah.

0:40:45 > 0:40:47Nick got to get...put in...get in a few hits.

0:40:47 > 0:40:48He did, you got a fair few hits in.

0:40:48 > 0:40:51And they didn't, cos I thought you were possibly vulnerable

0:40:51 > 0:40:54to another hammer. But they couldn't quite get it fired up.

0:40:54 > 0:40:57- Little bit risky, but...- Well done, you. 8-2 up. Congratulations.

0:40:57 > 0:40:58- Thank you.- Fantastic.

0:41:01 > 0:41:05It was a pity our axe broke down because, else,

0:41:05 > 0:41:08we might have won, we might have hit them in the right place.

0:41:11 > 0:41:14OK, John, we don't want it any more.

0:41:14 > 0:41:17We're going to go home and build a better axe.

0:41:17 > 0:41:19We're going to smash it to pieces.

0:41:19 > 0:41:21- Look forward to it.- OK!

0:41:21 > 0:41:23Well done.

0:41:23 > 0:41:24- There you go.- Thank you.

0:41:24 > 0:41:26- Thank you.- Bye.- Until next time.

0:41:28 > 0:41:30This is one of the reasons I got rid of it.

0:41:30 > 0:41:32We realised it was a little bit skinny.

0:41:33 > 0:41:36Little bit too light, too much weight saving.

0:41:37 > 0:41:40Now, we've actually gone to a solid axe shaft, now,

0:41:40 > 0:41:41so it's a lot stronger.

0:41:41 > 0:41:43But...nice to see it again.

0:41:47 > 0:41:50They are a very nice team, so it's a bit of a shame.

0:41:50 > 0:41:52But they're new, you know, so it's good experience,

0:41:52 > 0:41:54all good experience.

0:41:54 > 0:41:56I'm sure they'll come back better and stronger.

0:41:58 > 0:42:01John's expert driving has handed Team UK the three points,

0:42:01 > 0:42:03giving them a total of eight.

0:42:05 > 0:42:08Next to fight, it's Rabid M8 from Portugal

0:42:08 > 0:42:10against UK's Gabriel 2.

0:42:10 > 0:42:14With only two points, defeat in this next fight would mean

0:42:14 > 0:42:17the Rest of the World team will have lost the competition,

0:42:17 > 0:42:20so a lot of pressure for the Portuguese roboteers.

0:42:20 > 0:42:22Portugal, how are we?

0:42:22 > 0:42:25So, this is a thwackbot, yeah?

0:42:25 > 0:42:26Yeah, it's a thwackbot.

0:42:26 > 0:42:28- So you're up against Gabriel...- Yes.

0:42:28 > 0:42:31..who's, like, a giant, unpredictable version of this.

0:42:31 > 0:42:33- Yes, yes.- What's the tactics?

0:42:33 > 0:42:37- The tactic will be, first, try and hit the wheels.- OK.

0:42:37 > 0:42:41Because this type of robot, the weak point is the wheels.

0:42:41 > 0:42:42They take a lot of beating.

0:42:44 > 0:42:48Rabid M8's plan to focus on the wheels is a big gamble -

0:42:48 > 0:42:49even previous champion Carbide

0:42:49 > 0:42:51couldn't smash their way through them.

0:42:53 > 0:42:54Gabriel, how are you all?

0:42:54 > 0:42:56Looking forward to this?

0:42:56 > 0:42:58It is yourselves against another thwackbot.

0:42:58 > 0:42:59Where are they going to go for,

0:42:59 > 0:43:01where do you think they'll attack you?

0:43:01 > 0:43:03I think they're going to go for the wheels, but we're also going

0:43:03 > 0:43:07to be going for their wheels, so that they can't move as well.

0:43:07 > 0:43:11These wheels, we know this, we've seen you go up against Carbide,

0:43:11 > 0:43:15you will keep running on these wheels forever.

0:43:15 > 0:43:16It is impossible to stop you.

0:43:16 > 0:43:18If we didn't have a three-minute time delay on this,

0:43:18 > 0:43:20could this fight go on for days?

0:43:20 > 0:43:21- Yes.- Yeah.

0:43:21 > 0:43:23OK. OK, fine. Grand

0:43:23 > 0:43:26I think you're more likely to hit them than they hit you.

0:43:26 > 0:43:28- Are you enjoying representing team UK?- Yes.

0:43:28 > 0:43:31Is it fun to work with the other teams, rather than...?

0:43:31 > 0:43:34- Yeah. It's a bit weird, though, cos we're just like...- Yeah...

0:43:34 > 0:43:36- ..we're usually against them.- Yeah.

0:43:36 > 0:43:38I know. And now you have to cheer them on. It's grand.

0:43:38 > 0:43:40I think it's bringing out something very nice in people.

0:43:40 > 0:43:43Best of luck. It's always a pleasure to see Gabriel out on the floor.

0:43:43 > 0:43:45- Enjoy your fight. - Thank you.- Goodbye.

0:43:47 > 0:43:50With so much at stake and battle imminent,

0:43:50 > 0:43:54the teams get some final words of wisdom from their captains.

0:43:55 > 0:43:58OK, guys, it's got rubber all round the plastic.

0:43:58 > 0:44:01If you can manage to take off as much of that rubber,

0:44:01 > 0:44:04it'll have no traction and it'll be sliding around the arena.

0:44:04 > 0:44:07- That should work pretty well, yeah? - Yes.- Yeah?- Yes.

0:44:07 > 0:44:09- Let's do that. OK.- Let's go. - Let's go.

0:44:10 > 0:44:13- Main tactic is, though, don't listen to your dad.- OK.- He's soft.

0:44:13 > 0:44:15We know you're angry, you can get angry and aggressive.

0:44:15 > 0:44:18Go in there, smash them, we can get them.

0:44:18 > 0:44:20- They can't cause any damage to us, can they?- No.

0:44:20 > 0:44:22- Team UK all the way. Yeah!- Yeah! - Come on!

0:44:25 > 0:44:27Guilherme Ferreira is finishing studying

0:44:27 > 0:44:30and works for one of the world's largest elevator companies.

0:44:30 > 0:44:32He's obsessed with robots.

0:44:32 > 0:44:35His ten years of experience comes with featherweights

0:44:35 > 0:44:38and he's among the top ten competitors in the UK

0:44:38 > 0:44:39in that weight bracket.

0:44:39 > 0:44:41This is his first heavyweight robot.

0:44:41 > 0:44:44The thwackbot is essentially a full-body hammer.

0:44:44 > 0:44:46It can travel at 15mph

0:44:46 > 0:44:48and has 25 millimetre hardened steel armour.

0:44:48 > 0:44:53The most successful thwackbot in Robot Wars history,

0:44:53 > 0:44:56Carbide called their battle against Gabriel 2 one of the toughest

0:44:56 > 0:45:00fights they've ever had, and that's no mean feat.

0:45:00 > 0:45:03The team from Oxfordshire boast the fastest robot in the arena,

0:45:03 > 0:45:06along with being practically indestructible,

0:45:06 > 0:45:08with its enormous HDPE wheels.

0:45:08 > 0:45:10This battle is going to be chaos.

0:45:10 > 0:45:15Two thwackbots, the most difficult robots to drive, mind you.

0:45:15 > 0:45:16In the arena for this battle,

0:45:16 > 0:45:20the only foreign phrase they know "Tora, tora, tora."

0:45:20 > 0:45:21It's Shunt and Dead Metal!

0:45:26 > 0:45:29Roboteers, stand by.

0:45:29 > 0:45:31CHEERING

0:45:34 > 0:45:36- Good luck.- Thanks.

0:45:36 > 0:45:39Three, two, one.

0:45:39 > 0:45:41Activate.

0:45:41 > 0:45:44If Gabriel 2 wins this, the UK win the trophy.

0:45:44 > 0:45:47But if Rabid M8 can get the points on the board,

0:45:47 > 0:45:50the Rest Of The World are still in it.

0:45:50 > 0:45:53Two thwackbots, very unpredictable battles.

0:45:53 > 0:45:55They'll go for the wheels, I would imagine.

0:45:55 > 0:45:59And the whack-a-mole begins.

0:45:59 > 0:46:02At the controls of Gabriel 2, Toby Colliass.

0:46:02 > 0:46:04Young Toby doing well.

0:46:07 > 0:46:09Gabriel 2

0:46:09 > 0:46:13controlled sensibly by Toby, just standing off, keeping his distance,

0:46:13 > 0:46:15waiting for its moment.

0:46:15 > 0:46:17That's a good piece of control there, though, by Rabid M8.

0:46:17 > 0:46:19Good turn of speed across the arena floor.

0:46:19 > 0:46:23It can get up to 15mph, this big thwackbot with a full-body hammer.

0:46:25 > 0:46:27Very, very close, so far.

0:46:27 > 0:46:30This is a sustained attack going on by Rabid M8.

0:46:30 > 0:46:33First time they've had a heavyweight machine.

0:46:34 > 0:46:37Guilherme Ferreira and his mechanic, Pedro Mourao,

0:46:37 > 0:46:39they've done well.

0:46:39 > 0:46:43And they're trying to gain some momentum by spinning,

0:46:43 > 0:46:47which, of course, gives added velocity and weight

0:46:47 > 0:46:50to the head of the hammer,

0:46:50 > 0:46:52if they can get close enough to hammer attack.

0:46:52 > 0:46:54Oh, Gabriel 2,

0:46:54 > 0:46:58Toby got caught right on the edge there of the Floor Flipper.

0:46:59 > 0:47:04It's controlled by the man we call Devilish Floor Flipper Man -

0:47:04 > 0:47:05to give him his full name.

0:47:08 > 0:47:11- Yeah, OK.- I can see, I can see...

0:47:11 > 0:47:13Gabriel 2, again...

0:47:13 > 0:47:16Oh, onto the Floor Pit!

0:47:16 > 0:47:19Toby...a little bit better control than that.

0:47:22 > 0:47:24Synchronised! Well done.

0:47:24 > 0:47:27- It's the National Floor-Hitting Championships!- Yeah!

0:47:27 > 0:47:28SHE LAUGHS

0:47:30 > 0:47:33Again, trying to get up a head of steam.

0:47:33 > 0:47:36Gabriel 2, bang, bang, bang,

0:47:36 > 0:47:38but onto the arena floor man.

0:47:39 > 0:47:42Nothing more than that, won't get you points, hitting the floor.

0:47:42 > 0:47:46Got to hit at least a house robot.

0:47:46 > 0:47:48Shunt is getting mighty close to getting a hit...

0:47:51 > 0:47:52Using the Dial of Doom,

0:47:52 > 0:47:55they've released the house robot.

0:47:56 > 0:47:59Are we doing this fight off Shunt? Well done.

0:47:59 > 0:48:01Pins Gabriel 2 to the arena...

0:48:01 > 0:48:04..wall, and though one wheel is spinning, the other is

0:48:04 > 0:48:08dug into the arena floor and I don't think, actually, is working.

0:48:08 > 0:48:09They're on one wheel.

0:48:09 > 0:48:11Oh, yeah.

0:48:11 > 0:48:13Which means they can spin around, but don't know where.

0:48:13 > 0:48:15And I think Peter Redmond, the captain

0:48:15 > 0:48:17of the Rest Of The World team, senses a big victory here.

0:48:17 > 0:48:19A crucial victory, it would deny Gabriel 2

0:48:19 > 0:48:24and the UK team the trophy in this particular heat.

0:48:25 > 0:48:27Great fightback by the Rest of the World here.

0:48:27 > 0:48:29Rabid M8 -

0:48:29 > 0:48:30really good machine.

0:48:30 > 0:48:33Got to consider, they've only been used to featherweight robots

0:48:33 > 0:48:38in the past, but they're good roboteers.

0:48:40 > 0:48:42One wheel's not working...

0:48:42 > 0:48:44Don't give away our secret! Stop...

0:48:44 > 0:48:46- One wheel's not working. - Oh, it's stopped completely now.

0:48:46 > 0:48:49What's Gabriel 2 doing here?

0:48:49 > 0:48:51Well, we salute you, those who are about to die.

0:48:51 > 0:48:53Have they died?

0:48:53 > 0:48:55Will the countdown down start? Oh!

0:48:55 > 0:48:56See, something has just recued...

0:48:56 > 0:48:59Well done. Well done, Toby. Well done.

0:48:59 > 0:49:01That was a good one.

0:49:01 > 0:49:04It'll go to the judges and it'll be very close.

0:49:05 > 0:49:08Good battle, that, this is going to be close.

0:49:09 > 0:49:10Good fight by the arena floor.

0:49:12 > 0:49:15The arena floor fighting back against the robots.

0:49:15 > 0:49:19That was a good hit by Gabriel 2, but largely they missed the target,

0:49:19 > 0:49:23hitting the arena floor, while Rabid M8's attacks were more controlled.

0:49:23 > 0:49:27Tactically, I think Rabid M8 was the better machine.

0:49:27 > 0:49:33Using the house robots underneath Gabriel 2,

0:49:33 > 0:49:36lots of energy from Gabriel 2, of course, we expect that.

0:49:36 > 0:49:40For me, it's Rabid M8. Very close.

0:49:40 > 0:49:43Well, I'm excited to have seen the first-ever

0:49:43 > 0:49:45International Floor-Hitting Championships...

0:49:45 > 0:49:47LAUGHTER

0:49:47 > 0:49:49..from two teams who really disliked that floor.

0:49:49 > 0:49:51Had you stopped at the end?

0:49:51 > 0:49:53Yes, we'd...

0:49:53 > 0:49:55We're not quite sure why, but in the end it...

0:49:55 > 0:49:58It stopped about five seconds before the end of the fight.

0:49:58 > 0:50:01This could mean you squeak through because, you know,

0:50:01 > 0:50:04- if it stopped five seconds before that...- Yeah.

0:50:04 > 0:50:05..then it would have been a win.

0:50:05 > 0:50:08Right? But this could mean you win the whole thing, now,

0:50:08 > 0:50:10because they managed to hold out for two minutes and 35 seconds.

0:50:10 > 0:50:12I mean, how do you think they did?

0:50:12 > 0:50:14I think they did a great job. The idea of the spinning was...

0:50:14 > 0:50:16There was very little vulnerable on that robot,

0:50:16 > 0:50:19bar from the little bits of rubber around the tyres,

0:50:19 > 0:50:21and we thought, if we could whack that off,

0:50:21 > 0:50:22then it could make it slip a bit more.

0:50:22 > 0:50:25- There's nothing vulnerable, it is an unkillable robot.- Exactly.

0:50:25 > 0:50:27We have seen this robot go into battle

0:50:27 > 0:50:29and nothing short of a tank will destroy it.

0:50:29 > 0:50:30The judges have looked at it,

0:50:30 > 0:50:32they've gone through on their various criteria,

0:50:32 > 0:50:35they've checked through, they've gone through an entire replay of it.

0:50:35 > 0:50:37And it was incredibly tight.

0:50:37 > 0:50:40But the adjudication is split decision,

0:50:40 > 0:50:43as we know, it's normally a unanimous decision,

0:50:43 > 0:50:45but split decision, and it has gone to

0:50:45 > 0:50:47the Rest Of The World!

0:50:47 > 0:50:49THEY CHEER

0:50:49 > 0:50:53It is currently 8-4 to the UK against the Rest Of The World,

0:50:53 > 0:50:57but the last fight is worth possibly five points for a knockout,

0:50:57 > 0:50:59four for a judges' decision.,

0:50:59 > 0:51:00So still a lot to play for.

0:51:00 > 0:51:02Big fight, the last fight coming up.

0:51:04 > 0:51:08Guilherme and Rabid M8 gained two points and a much-needed lifeline.

0:51:08 > 0:51:12They now trail Team UK by four points.

0:51:12 > 0:51:15But with the final battle worth a maximum of five,

0:51:15 > 0:51:17they're still in with a chance.

0:51:17 > 0:51:19The final battle and the two team captains

0:51:19 > 0:51:22must take to the arena to prove their own worth.

0:51:22 > 0:51:25Rest Of The World's old-school legend Diotoir

0:51:25 > 0:51:28against former champion Apollo.

0:51:28 > 0:51:29You're the captains.

0:51:29 > 0:51:31By the way, that thing is quite flammable,

0:51:31 > 0:51:33so let's just keep away from the naked flame.

0:51:33 > 0:51:37- The... You're the team captains. This is the big one, lads. It's come down to this.- Yeah.

0:51:37 > 0:51:39It is, you know...

0:51:39 > 0:51:42Winner takes all. Or winner takes draw, maybe, depending on... But anyway, listen.

0:51:42 > 0:51:45It is critically important. What are you going to do?

0:51:45 > 0:51:49Flip him out of the arena, feed him to the house robots.

0:51:49 > 0:51:51Flip everyone out of the arena.

0:51:51 > 0:51:53That is...cold. What are you going to do?

0:51:54 > 0:51:57Just going to shred him. Just shred him.

0:51:57 > 0:51:59- Also go on fire.- Oh, yeah. - At some point you'll go on fire.

0:51:59 > 0:52:01We're totally fireproof, but we'll go on fire.

0:52:01 > 0:52:03Yeah, of course you will.

0:52:03 > 0:52:05That's part of the whole thing. Ladies and gentlemen,

0:52:05 > 0:52:07this is the deciding fight of the International Series.

0:52:07 > 0:52:10Please, captains, go to your robots.

0:52:10 > 0:52:11No, no, go, go. Go to your robots. Right.

0:52:11 > 0:52:13LAUGHTER

0:52:13 > 0:52:15CHEERING AND APPLAUSE

0:52:23 > 0:52:27Both captains have guided their teams through this competition.

0:52:29 > 0:52:31Apollo has dominated the arena again.

0:52:31 > 0:52:34The former champion worked hard to prove that they're still

0:52:34 > 0:52:37one of the world's fiercest flippers,

0:52:37 > 0:52:41dealing damage to competitors and house robots alike.

0:52:41 > 0:52:44We're bringing the experience of winning Robot Wars to the team.

0:52:44 > 0:52:46There's not many teams that have done it

0:52:46 > 0:52:48and it's an experience that is invaluable.

0:52:53 > 0:52:55In tonight's episode,

0:52:55 > 0:52:58this battle-hardened team face a true Robot Wars legend.

0:53:00 > 0:53:03I think Apollo is an awesome robot. I think it's really strong,

0:53:03 > 0:53:06it's really hard, it's really fast and it's really manoeuvrable,

0:53:06 > 0:53:08and it's going to be hard to beat.

0:53:08 > 0:53:10But we're up to the task.

0:53:11 > 0:53:14Even if we're on fire and all our fur is burning away,

0:53:14 > 0:53:17we're still a killing machine and we're coming for you.

0:53:17 > 0:53:21It's the old against the new, experience against the new wave,

0:53:21 > 0:53:24face-to-face in this decisive battle.

0:53:24 > 0:53:28But only one can win this Robot Wars World Series.

0:53:28 > 0:53:29CHEERING AND APPLAUSE

0:53:33 > 0:53:36- POSH ACCENT:- And in the arena, for this captains' battle,

0:53:36 > 0:53:37the best of British.

0:53:46 > 0:53:49It's Sir Killalot and Dead Metal.

0:53:50 > 0:53:54Three, two, one...

0:53:54 > 0:53:56..activate.

0:53:56 > 0:53:57The trophy rests on this.

0:53:57 > 0:54:00And Apollo comes out fast out of the traps to use

0:54:00 > 0:54:04- the flipper underneath Diotoir. - HE CHUCKLES

0:54:04 > 0:54:07It's unbelievable, isn't it? The one place you do not want to be

0:54:07 > 0:54:11when you've got fur on your side is on the flames

0:54:11 > 0:54:15and they went straight for it! Oh, look at that!

0:54:15 > 0:54:19It's a flaming gorgeous sight if you're a UK supporter.

0:54:19 > 0:54:22But the Rest Of The World hopes...

0:54:22 > 0:54:26..up in flames, but we'll wait and see.

0:54:26 > 0:54:30I've waited so long to see Diotoir back in the arena, I have to admit.

0:54:30 > 0:54:33And there's sir Killalot in this, the last battle

0:54:33 > 0:54:35of this international special.

0:54:35 > 0:54:38And Apollo gets a flip in, and Diotoir,

0:54:38 > 0:54:40he knows they're in trouble straight away.

0:54:40 > 0:54:43Oh, look at that, the face of Dave Young.

0:54:43 > 0:54:46He has a point to prove, as well, with Apollo.

0:54:46 > 0:54:49Oh, wow! That was brutal!

0:54:49 > 0:54:50Up in the air went Diotoir.

0:54:52 > 0:54:57Maybe the cold air in the upper atmosphere in the arena might

0:54:57 > 0:54:59dull those flames - don't think so.

0:54:59 > 0:55:02Nothing extinguished, apart from the hopes of Diotoir.

0:55:02 > 0:55:06They'll need a miracle here. Apollo relentless on the arena wall.

0:55:06 > 0:55:08A little bit of trouble there. Got too close to Dead Metal.

0:55:08 > 0:55:11Ooh! "Have some of this, Dead Metal," says Apollo.

0:55:11 > 0:55:13Killalot's coming for you. Turn straight on at him.

0:55:13 > 0:55:15Turn straight at him.

0:55:15 > 0:55:18- Straight at it, straight at it. - In the corner.

0:55:18 > 0:55:20But was that sensible by Dave?

0:55:20 > 0:55:23That drew Sir Killalot into the fray

0:55:23 > 0:55:25and this gives Diotoir a hope.

0:55:25 > 0:55:27Not much of a hope, to be honest, but anyway...

0:55:27 > 0:55:28- CROWD CHANT:- Apollo! Apollo!

0:55:28 > 0:55:30..because that flip from Apollo was a mighty one,

0:55:30 > 0:55:32and I think that ended Diotoir's dream.

0:55:34 > 0:55:37Come on, self-right. Come on, come on, come on...

0:55:37 > 0:55:38Yeah... No.

0:55:38 > 0:55:44There they lie. But Apollo got too close to the house robots,

0:55:44 > 0:55:48and they want revenge now. Out they come.

0:55:50 > 0:55:54I think the victory is Apollo's if they can stay out of trouble here.

0:55:54 > 0:55:57Even if it goes to the judges, they won't lose the trophy.

0:55:57 > 0:56:01But they've done enough. Diotoir immobilised. Great win for Apollo.

0:56:01 > 0:56:05- Oh, there we are, winning with Dead Metal.- Go on, smash 'em up!

0:56:05 > 0:56:09Smash 'em up! Take them on, I don't care! It's all over!

0:56:09 > 0:56:11Get out of the way, Killalot, you bully.

0:56:11 > 0:56:14He's going to trample down on Apollo.

0:56:14 > 0:56:15Go straight at him, straight at him.

0:56:15 > 0:56:19Dave looks... Oh, he looks focused! He knew what he was doing.

0:56:19 > 0:56:21Oh, go on!

0:56:22 > 0:56:24The side-on attack underneath

0:56:24 > 0:56:27the tracks of Sir Killalot nearly paid off.

0:56:27 > 0:56:30One final flip for Diotoir.

0:56:32 > 0:56:35A big hit early on from Apollo.

0:56:35 > 0:56:38Diotoir already on fire because, crazily,

0:56:38 > 0:56:40they drove onto the flames in the opening exchanges.

0:56:43 > 0:56:46A massive hit there, look. What, four, five feet into the air?

0:56:46 > 0:56:50Came crashing down in Killalot territory.

0:56:50 > 0:56:53Always on the back foot, Diotoir. They needed the points...

0:56:54 > 0:56:58..for the victory to give the Rest Of The World the trophy.

0:56:58 > 0:57:03Apollo decided it had beaten Diotoir and wanted the house robots,

0:57:03 > 0:57:05and that was nearly the biggest flip of the night.

0:57:05 > 0:57:10They've raised the roof. Nearly raised Killalot off the arena floor.

0:57:10 > 0:57:13But victory for Apollo, victory for the UK.

0:57:15 > 0:57:17And a bit of showboating, too.

0:57:19 > 0:57:22CHEERING AND APPLAUSE

0:57:22 > 0:57:24Well, you might not have won,

0:57:24 > 0:57:28but there is something uniquely beautiful about a flying

0:57:28 > 0:57:32Diotoir launched into the sky, flames lifting around.

0:57:32 > 0:57:34It was beautiful to see you back.

0:57:34 > 0:57:36It was beautiful to be here and it was great.

0:57:36 > 0:57:38Ladies and gentlemen, the Rest Of The World team!

0:57:38 > 0:57:39CHEERING

0:57:41 > 0:57:43Well, they put on a show, you finished the job.

0:57:43 > 0:57:47Yeah, absolutely fantastic to see Diotoir back and in flames, as well,

0:57:47 > 0:57:49and launched across the arena.
