:00:10. > :00:15.Hello and welcome to Tuesday's It Takes Two. Their fine foxtrot saw
:00:15. > :00:20.them through to the final. Louis and Flavia are here. APPLAUSE There
:00:20. > :00:27.is time for one last visit from Karen Hardy as Choreography Corner
:00:27. > :00:34.closes for business today. APPLAUSE Oh. I know. Milk it! And he is here
:00:34. > :00:44.hoping to go down in a blaze of godets - Julien Macdonald! APPLAUSE
:00:44. > :01:13.
:01:13. > :01:22.This is It Takes Two. Who loves you, This is Strictly: It Takes Two.
:01:22. > :01:27.Please welcome your host, Zoe Ball. APPLAUSE Hello. Welcome to It Takes
:01:27. > :01:33.Two. A few ups and downs on Saturday for Louis and Flavia. Here
:01:33. > :01:39.is a reminder of how they booked their place in the final. It was a
:01:40. > :01:45.lot of content. The quality of dancing wasn't that good. It got a
:01:45. > :01:54.bit flat-footed and that made it look laboured. I was expecting more.
:01:54. > :01:59.Such a shame. 7. 8. The standard of the semifinal, everyone was so
:01:59. > :02:05.brilliant. You get knocked down in one dance and you come back
:02:05. > :02:11.stronger! You make it look too easy. It is beautiful. Grace. Quality.
:02:11. > :02:21.You got it. Fantastic rise and fall. I loved that ending as well.
:02:21. > :02:21.
:02:21. > :02:25.Brilliant. Brilliant! APPLAUSE 10. 10. Relief. After a big knock
:02:25. > :02:34.to go straight on and do another dance, you did really well. Very
:02:34. > :02:39.proud. Please welcome Louis and Flavia. APPLAUSE It is so exciting.
:02:39. > :02:44.Congratulations on securing a place in the final. You were saying how
:02:44. > :02:51.proud you were of Louis? I am very proud. He did a great job. I think
:02:51. > :02:57.two hard dances. Foxtrot is demanding, the jive, there were
:02:57. > :03:06.loads of steps to learn. How proud were you of Flavia? She has been
:03:06. > :03:11.fantastic. She's got me into almost a diamond. The jive didn't blow the
:03:11. > :03:16.judges away. Not bad for you. Still not up there. Were you gutted about
:03:16. > :03:19.that? I was. Jive for me, before the programme started, was a dance
:03:19. > :03:27.I wanted to do. I would have liked to have had a full week to get
:03:27. > :03:31.ready for it. It was hard to split it. Darcey did say that she thought
:03:31. > :03:41.because Louis was so supple that was making his lines not sharp.
:03:41. > :03:42.
:03:42. > :03:46.Does that make any sense? possibly could be that. It is more
:03:46. > :03:52.about how you bring your foot back in. It is tricky. I think the thing
:03:52. > :03:57.is that Louis' personality is in all the dances, it is quite relaxed
:03:57. > :04:01.so in the foxtrot it suits that. In the jive they want you to put
:04:01. > :04:07.everything into it. He is a bit chilled. So they don't get that.
:04:07. > :04:14.like a chilled jive. After the jive, which wasn't bad, you went off and
:04:14. > :04:17.you came back on and nailed the foxtrot. What did Flavia say to you
:04:17. > :04:23.in half-time? She didn't have to say too much. I think she could
:04:23. > :04:27.tell I was beating myself up inside. She could tell I was nervous
:04:27. > :04:31.beforehand. I knew that I needed to step it up. Everyone was great in
:04:31. > :04:36.the competition. I needed to pull something out the bag to try and
:04:36. > :04:41.stay in. You did. Look. She is so happy with you. Len did say the
:04:41. > :04:45.sportsman in you fought there. Would you agree? Definitely. It is
:04:45. > :04:49.a natural instinct to want to fight and stay in a competition. It is
:04:49. > :04:55.when you get knocked down that you realise how badly you want to stay
:04:55. > :04:59.in. It really inspired me to go back and blow the judges away.
:04:59. > :05:04.Which you did! Your sports background is one thing. But there
:05:04. > :05:13.is a more important factor that has made you the man you are today. I
:05:13. > :05:23.give you Louis' crowning glory! Would you stop? I will make a VT
:05:23. > :05:25.
:05:25. > :05:30.for It Takes Two. Louis' Hair! They will have loads of clips of you
:05:30. > :05:40.doing your hair! I have to make sure my hair is up to scratch. I
:05:40. > :05:42.
:05:43. > :05:49.think I should have done a double shampoo! You can tell a lot by
:05:49. > :05:57.someone's hair. Your hair? It looks good. I need to preserve it. How's
:05:57. > :06:04.my hair looking? Don't you worry, they know how to edit it together.
:06:04. > :06:09.APPLAUSE See. I warned him. I said be careful. Very funny. He fell
:06:09. > :06:15.into that one! LAUGHTER Well done. So this weekend, for the final,
:06:15. > :06:19.you... I have never seen you that embarrassed. It looks good.
:06:19. > :06:26.have three dances. Your favourite, the judges' pick and the showdance.
:06:26. > :06:32.Which dances have the judges chosen for you? They picked the salsa.
:06:32. > :06:38.the Dirty Dancing one?! I'm so excited to see that again. Wasn't
:06:38. > :06:44.it - did everyone give you a good score? Len gave us a six. He wanted
:06:44. > :06:49.more traditional salsa moves. Hopefully, we will make him happy.
:06:49. > :06:58.You have to do that lift again. Are you happy about that? We will take
:06:58. > :07:03.it out. No! Joking! What's your favourite dance? Our favourite one
:07:03. > :07:08.was the Charleston. We want to do that one again. It was a turning
:07:08. > :07:11.point for us. You loved it! And of course your showdance which is
:07:11. > :07:16.possibly the most exciting thing. I'm imagining with you, there will
:07:16. > :07:23.be some amazing tricks. What can you tell us about it? We have lots
:07:23. > :07:27.of ideas. It is coming together. have too many ideas! Is he being
:07:28. > :07:36.allowed to do any choreography? yes. I have a very creative mind.
:07:36. > :07:42.Shall we listen to the music? # We can ride on a star... #
:07:42. > :07:46.You can lift her like that! # We can rule the world. #
:07:46. > :07:52.One finger. Good luck this weekend. We know you will be brilliant.
:07:52. > :08:00.Can't wait for the showdance. Louis and Flavia. APPLAUSE Over the last
:08:00. > :08:05.few weeks, they have taken us on a whistle-stop tour of dance history.
:08:05. > :08:10.One-stop left, the foxtrot. Before 1910, ballroom dancing had
:08:10. > :08:16.changed very little from the early waltzes but then a new style of
:08:16. > :08:23.music called ragtime came along and changed everything. Stop, stop! The
:08:23. > :08:29.music was much quicker and much more exciting. And they danced in
:08:29. > :08:39.hold. Much closer together. And even started ad-libbing through the
:08:39. > :08:47.
:08:47. > :08:57.routine. Dance moves with funny- sounding names such as the kangaroo
:08:57. > :09:09.
:09:09. > :09:14.hop, the turkey trot and the grizzly bear. Then in 1914, a
:09:14. > :09:22.vaudeville star called Harry Fox was performing at the Belvedere
:09:22. > :09:31.Theater as part of a company called American Beauties. In one comedy
:09:31. > :09:41.routine, he began trotting to ragtime music and people called it
:09:41. > :09:42.
:09:42. > :09:50.Fox's Trot! Audiences fell in love with the dance and started copying
:09:50. > :09:54.Harry Fox's trot, a new craze was born. The dance grew in popularity
:09:54. > :09:59.and eventually was taken overseas to Britain. The ballroom masters
:09:59. > :10:04.did away with a lot of the trotting, kicks and hops and created a slower,
:10:04. > :10:14.smoother dance to give us the slow, quick, quick, slow that we know
:10:14. > :10:17.
:10:17. > :10:22.today. A faster version evolved into what is now the quickstep.
:10:22. > :10:32.There is more variety in the foxtrot than any other dance and in
:10:32. > :10:32.
:10:32. > :10:37.some ways, it's the hardest to master. What a partnership! I like
:10:37. > :10:43.the grizzly bear! Still hot to trot, it is Karen Hardy! That was a crazy
:10:43. > :10:47.dance. It was strange to do. Welcome. The last time we shall do
:10:47. > :10:50.this. It's been - we should have a Karen Hardy summing up. What have
:10:50. > :10:54.you thought of the series as a whole and the choreography
:10:54. > :10:58.standard? Yes, it's just lifted two-fold. I think that's a lot to
:10:58. > :11:01.do with how the professionals are competing against each other and
:11:01. > :11:06.then the celebrities get the hook and they want to join in. That is
:11:06. > :11:11.when the dancing is at its best. Let's talk about our finalists.
:11:11. > :11:20.Dani and Vincent and the American Smooth. Craig said heron day wasn't
:11:20. > :11:24.dynamic and should have been longer -- her ronde wasn't dynamic and
:11:24. > :11:27.should have been longer? Musically, it wouldn't have fitted with the
:11:27. > :11:30.choreography. Secondly, the direction that she was turning, she
:11:30. > :11:35.couldn't have extended it any more because she needed to get straight
:11:35. > :11:45.back to Vincent. As you can see, she will pick up into the move, she
:11:45. > :11:46.
:11:47. > :11:51.does her throw, she goes into her turn - there is the ronde. That
:11:51. > :11:55.makes perfect sense. Her Argentine tango as well. It was quite awesome.
:11:55. > :12:00.A ten from Len for Dani. At last, he was most impressed that it
:12:00. > :12:03.started on the floor, no music. We were all thinking the band have
:12:03. > :12:08.forgotten to play! This is where the professionals have lifted
:12:08. > :12:11.themselves. Silence to start the performance. This shows commitment,
:12:11. > :12:15.conviction and delivery at the highest level. Normally, it is the
:12:15. > :12:20.music that will silence the audience. They had to be focused,
:12:20. > :12:24.they had to be committed to silence the audience just by their
:12:24. > :12:30.movements and it says, "Watch out, something incredible is coming!"
:12:30. > :12:35.And it did. For the record, why it did not get four tens I do not
:12:35. > :12:39.know! You were cross about that! was. It was so intense. It was so
:12:39. > :12:45.complicated. And the relationship between the two of them and that
:12:45. > :12:49.was worthy of four tens. Thank you. I think a lot of people at home
:12:49. > :12:55.agree. Denise and James. Tens from everyone apart from Craig who said
:12:55. > :12:59.there was a bit of gapping. What did you think? A little bit. Now,
:12:59. > :13:05.we have something called CBM - contra body movement. We learned
:13:05. > :13:12.that at the highest level. There was no time for James to start
:13:12. > :13:16.talking about that. I have picked up on where the biggest error was.
:13:16. > :13:21.She should be getting points for commitment, the delivery, the
:13:21. > :13:24.footwork. Even at a professional top level, we do not stay stuck
:13:24. > :13:29.together. Let's talk about the rumba. James said it was quite
:13:29. > :13:34.moving that it was his favourite dance on Strictly? I think for
:13:34. > :13:38.James, he's been lost. We all know James, he's been hurt being in the
:13:38. > :13:41.dance-off. That's how the audience are seeing it. Now he said right, I
:13:41. > :13:45.want to wear my heart on the sleeve, I want everyone to see how
:13:45. > :13:51.beautiful this lady is. And the beauty extends fully into those
:13:51. > :13:56.arms. The use of those arms. I wanted to take a moment - I won't
:13:56. > :14:00.get up... Really? And to understand that when you use the arms, you
:14:00. > :14:05.have your shoulders, elbows and wrists and then you have your
:14:05. > :14:13.knuckles and when you use the arms you go through each stage of that,
:14:13. > :14:16.OK? You could go soft and sweep. You can go with resistance. It's
:14:16. > :14:21.using those elements and what I loved about this performance is
:14:21. > :14:25.that her arms were talking as she - she didn't say James has told me to
:14:25. > :14:31.lift my arm up, which is what we had seen previously. It was
:14:31. > :14:36.creative and beautiful. A little note - that dress was clever. She
:14:36. > :14:42.still hasn't mastered the hip action. But don't tell her. Louis
:14:42. > :14:47.and Flavia. They were left disappointed by the score. What did
:14:47. > :14:53.you make of it? To help people at home to be the best judge, you must
:14:53. > :14:57.never have expectations. As you go into a judging event, you must go,
:14:57. > :15:00."I'm going to see what happens." What we all had was a great deal of
:15:00. > :15:06.expectation. This was the jive. This was Louis coming out. She
:15:06. > :15:13.going to be kicking and flicking and sadly, this is what we had. You
:15:13. > :15:20.see, it's loose, it is floppy. That said, I think people overlooked the
:15:20. > :15:23.incredible swing action that he was able to master. He can swing!
:15:23. > :15:28.got the hip swing perfect. That dance should have come out with a
:15:28. > :15:32.wow and it was a little bit of a fluffy finish. It was OK. Then he
:15:32. > :15:36.did this. He came out with his foxtrot which was astounding. He
:15:36. > :15:42.got his highest score in the competition. Is this Louis' best
:15:42. > :15:46.dance so far? It was stunning. He mastered the art of movement across
:15:46. > :15:51.the dancefloor. Anywhere you wanted to look at the steps, you could see
:15:51. > :15:54.him gliding. And the step I have chosen here is interesting. I have
:15:54. > :15:59.chosen the heel turn for the lady. We always talk about how difficult
:15:59. > :16:03.it is for the lady. It is equally if not more difficult for the man
:16:03. > :16:08.to lead the heel turn. He has to place the lady on to her feet, he
:16:08. > :16:12.has to ensure that when they are together, she's able to turn on
:16:12. > :16:16.those two heels without being pushed over. Otherwise she could
:16:16. > :16:20.potentially look like she is riding a horse rather than a graceful swan.
:16:20. > :16:23.That could look dodgy! Kimberley and Pasha. The American Smooth. The
:16:23. > :16:27.judges were impressed. Len would have liked to have seen more in
:16:27. > :16:30.hold which was something that Ian pointed out last week with the
:16:30. > :16:35.American Smooth. Yes. Very, very important. The idea of this dance
:16:35. > :16:41.is of course it is in hold and then it is out of hold. I'm glad it was
:16:41. > :16:45.picked up on. It was missings. However, a beautifully danced piece
:16:45. > :16:49.of choreography. Stunning. Stunning. Even to the point of this. As she
:16:49. > :16:55.goes into this turn, then she goes into another turn and then the
:16:55. > :17:00.split. What do you think? Amazing. It is easy. Even my mother could do
:17:00. > :17:03.that! Really? What is important - I have to be honest. However, what is
:17:03. > :17:09.more difficult are the tech nickal elements. We know she is going to
:17:09. > :17:15.have to get that top line back up. Looking like that, and with her
:17:15. > :17:19.energy, she is stunning. Charleston. All tens. Chris Hollins
:17:19. > :17:24.the only other person to do that. Is this one of the best Charlestons
:17:24. > :17:28.we have seen? It was an incredible Charleston with her personality. We
:17:29. > :17:34.can go straight into it here. She has the swivelling of the feet, the
:17:34. > :17:39.facial expressions, she's got everything and this is... Your
:17:39. > :17:46.mother could do that(!) Musically, even to the point of the tech
:17:46. > :17:50.nickal, those feet pointing up -- the technical, those feet pointing
:17:50. > :17:55.up. What an incredible four finalists they are. This is our
:17:55. > :17:59.last Choreography Corner. Will you leave us with a Hardyism? You know
:17:59. > :18:05.which one it is going to be. The most important one of them all. It
:18:05. > :18:10.is that one. Footwork is the foundation of movement! Karen Hardy,
:18:10. > :18:17.give her a round of applause. APPLAUSE Don't forget on Saturday,
:18:17. > :18:21.she is with Mark Ramprakash on the red button. Yes. Another make-up
:18:21. > :18:25.masterclass from the brilliant Lisa Armstrong now.
:18:25. > :18:30.Her and make-up on Strictly Come Dancing is integral to the person's
:18:30. > :18:34.performance. It marries everything together. Hallowe'en week is always
:18:34. > :18:38.the most stressful hair and make-up week in the Strictly calendar. It
:18:38. > :18:42.is so much about the hair and make- up and so much about them being a
:18:42. > :18:47.character. We have to get this right because it is such a special
:18:47. > :18:52.week and everybody looks forward to that week to seeing what we are
:18:52. > :18:56.creating. The brief for Louis on the Hallowe'en show was a stylish
:18:56. > :19:00.zombie. I think the inspiration for that came with the contact lenses
:19:00. > :19:05.and that completely changes someone's appearances. I think it
:19:05. > :19:08.was really brave of Louis to try with contact lenses in because it's
:19:08. > :19:12.going to slightly impair your vision and that is not what you
:19:12. > :19:18.need when you are doing a dance on a live show. He said he was more
:19:18. > :19:23.than happy to wear them. The concept for Victoria on Hallowe'en
:19:23. > :19:27.week was Corpse Bride. We wouldn't normally put shimmer on the face.
:19:27. > :19:32.But the character needed that. I bought two sets of lashes and we
:19:32. > :19:36.cut them and used three pieces of the lashes to go up and turned them
:19:36. > :19:42.the other way around and put them down and the cascading long hair
:19:42. > :19:49.pulled the look together. Dancing through the decades at Wembley was
:19:49. > :19:57.a real chance for us to look at fashion make-up through the '20s to
:19:57. > :20:02.the noughties. The Charleston, which Denise danced at Wembley, it
:20:02. > :20:08.is a particular look. So a lot of headbands would be worn in that era,
:20:08. > :20:18.a lot of pin curls, a lot of finger waves, that would be brought up
:20:18. > :20:18.
:20:18. > :20:22.into little faux bobs. It's a fun look. Fake tan and Strictly is the
:20:22. > :20:25.bane of my life. On Saturday, you will do their make-up and you will
:20:25. > :20:31.do one shade of make-up on their face, off they pop, put some more
:20:31. > :20:35.tan on and then their face doesn't match their body. It drives me mad!
:20:35. > :20:45.Instant tan! I do not leave the house without this stuff! The worst
:20:45. > :20:49.offender for fake tanning is Robin Windsor. Dani in her Latin look as
:20:49. > :20:52.Beyonce was one of my favourite looks. That was a process of the
:20:52. > :20:56.concept, the costume and how she was going to work that dance. It
:20:56. > :21:00.really helped that she had all that hair in there which was clipped and
:21:00. > :21:07.curled and cascading down her shoulders. I really think that
:21:07. > :21:11.helped her get into the character. On Strictly Come Dancing, we get to
:21:11. > :21:19.explore every single avenue of hair and make-up, through styles,
:21:19. > :21:24.through concepts, it just is like the best job in the whole world.
:21:24. > :21:34.Thank you, Lisa. One clever lady. Now wardrobe. Time to check the
:21:34. > :21:50.
:21:50. > :21:55.Please welcome Julien Macdonald. APPLAUSE Hello, gorgeous! One last
:21:55. > :21:58.time. I can't believe it. What am I going to do with myself? I do
:21:58. > :22:05.believe you have some incredible stats from the whole series to
:22:05. > :22:11.round things off. I have. I know you think I'm lying about all these
:22:11. > :22:18.statistics. You make them up! not. I have some Strictly facts.
:22:18. > :22:28.Over all the weeks, we have used more than 400 metres of fringes.
:22:28. > :22:33.
:22:33. > :22:42.400 metres? More than 700 godets! What?! More than 15,000 bugles.
:22:42. > :22:46.Guess how many crystals? I don't know. More than 250,000! That is so
:22:46. > :22:52.impressive. These are real bona fide stats, ladies and gentlemen!
:22:52. > :22:58.It is a fact. Let's see your top three this week starting with
:22:58. > :23:03.number three. The number three is the gorgeous Flavia. Oh. Look at
:23:03. > :23:10.her in her lovely little - what is it? We have called it Strictly
:23:10. > :23:14.Sport. Vicky has been colour- blocking again? She has been doing
:23:14. > :23:20.it every week! This colour-blocking is special. It's all the colours
:23:20. > :23:27.for next summer. Is it really? Next year I'll be wearing white,
:23:27. > :23:37.yellow and blue? Colour-block together with a thousand Chris dals
