:00:12. > :00:16.It's Friday. Coming up on tonight's show, he's Strictly's head judge

:00:16. > :00:23.and I've got an audience with him. Len Goodman is here. The curtain

:00:23. > :00:28.about to go up on the Broadway special. I'll chat to an anyone ta

:00:28. > :00:37.and Chelsee and Pasha. John Barrowman and the stars of

:00:37. > :00:47.Footloose join us for our first Friday panel. This is Strictly - It

:00:47. > :01:13.

:01:13. > :01:22.Live from Television Centre, this is Strictly - It Takes Two. Here's

:01:22. > :01:27.Zoe! Hello. Welcome to Friday's It Takes

:01:27. > :01:30.Two. I don't know if we've mentioned it, but it is a Broadway

:01:30. > :01:35.special tomorrow. Yes, in less than 24 hours, the

:01:35. > :01:40.stage will be set for our 13 remaining couples. Between them

:01:40. > :01:43.they are tackling seven different dances with a lot of props, themes

:01:43. > :01:47.and costumes. It will be a heck of a show. One man they all have to

:01:47. > :01:56.impress is good gd good. His word is final.

:01:56. > :02:01.-- is good good good. -- is Len Goodman. Don't go on like that. You

:02:01. > :02:09.are getting on my wick. There was a tendency for you to be standing

:02:09. > :02:16.there while Ola flew about like a waps at a picnic. It was like a

:02:16. > :02:22.mechanic checking for an oil leak. As Michael Winner would say, "Calm

:02:22. > :02:28.down, dear." I took a crafty look up your dress!

:02:28. > :02:34.Please welcome Strictly's head judge, Mr Len Goodman.

:02:34. > :02:41.Oh, welcome, Sir. Welcome, Sir. Lovely to have you. Lovely to be

:02:41. > :02:47.here. You grace our sofa. We are a tiny bit excited about the Broadway

:02:47. > :02:55.week. What will it bring to the show? I think the big problem is

:02:55. > :02:59.for the professionals. We want to see Broadway. I don't want it to

:02:59. > :03:07.lose, whichever dance they do, the character of the dance. And my

:03:07. > :03:15.worry and fear, because you know I'm the old fuddy-duddy. I want to

:03:15. > :03:19.see elements of the dance. I don't want wham-bam thank you mam - I

:03:19. > :03:23.want to see proper dancing. If they get that right it will be fantastic.

:03:23. > :03:28.Are you impressed with the tricks and the throws? Look, I do

:03:28. > :03:35.understand the professionals have got a challenge. They've got to try

:03:35. > :03:40.and please us judges, especially me, the old technical guy. Also they've

:03:40. > :03:45.got to be flamboyant and impress the viewers and give everybody

:03:45. > :03:50.something to wow about. They have to get that balance - the wow and

:03:50. > :03:54.the how. Get them right and there we go! Then you'll be happy. What

:03:54. > :04:00.about Nancy and Anton. They have struggled a bit. What would your

:04:00. > :04:07.advice be to them? Anton is a superb ballroom dancer. He's

:04:07. > :04:14.dancing a tango. If anyone can dance the tango, it's Anton. He's a

:04:14. > :04:20.wonderful teacher. If I was given Anton advice, I would say, "Anton,

:04:20. > :04:25.don't mess about." A proper dance. It doesn't have to be overly

:04:25. > :04:35.flamboyant, a proper tango, and you'll make me happy. All that

:04:35. > :04:37.

:04:38. > :04:41.Aliona was on the show and she apologised for saying she never

:04:41. > :04:46.listened to the dances. What do you think about the pro dancers when

:04:47. > :04:52.they give you back-chat? I don't mind, to a degree. We are the

:04:52. > :04:56.judges and they are on trial. So you can't be the judge at your own

:04:56. > :05:02.trial, really. I do understand. Especially if we are over critical

:05:02. > :05:07.and they say, well they want to defend their celebrities and too

:05:07. > :05:13.rightly. It is about a partnership. Good on them. She did some good

:05:13. > :05:21.things. I've gree with them. Especially if -- a-- I agree with

:05:21. > :05:25.them, especially if old frosty knickers is grumpy. He said some

:05:25. > :05:31.harsh things. Is it healthy for judges to have different opinions?

:05:31. > :05:37.When the show first started and I heard who was judging, I thought

:05:37. > :05:43."This is madness," you should have four ballroom and Latin judges. I

:05:43. > :05:47.was so wrong. If you had got them, you would have has four of me. Who

:05:47. > :05:53.wants that?! We are all very experienced in our own fields. You

:05:53. > :06:00.look at dance through the eyes of your past, you know? So, I think

:06:01. > :06:04.it's great. You get Craig, who is very Finnic ki about this, that and

:06:04. > :06:08.the other. You have Alesha who talks about the fin niece and the

:06:08. > :06:13.fact that she's been on the show. She knows the process. And then you

:06:13. > :06:18.get me, talking about all the funny footwork thing. So everything is

:06:18. > :06:23.covered. It is a nice balance. you had four the same, then you'd

:06:23. > :06:27.only need one judge. It is great. You are doing with Dancing the

:06:27. > :06:33.Stars in America as well. What is the difference with the show in the

:06:33. > :06:36.States? It is basically the same show. You have the person who is

:06:36. > :06:41.Bruce and the person who is Tess. You have three judges, not four.

:06:41. > :06:49.Other than that, it's very, very similar. I would say the Americans

:06:49. > :06:53.are a little bit more up and down, they are standing up with ovations.

:06:53. > :06:57.So they are standing up and giving it plenty of that, which does give

:06:57. > :07:03.a little bit more electricity in the actual room. But you know, we

:07:03. > :07:12.are British. We have reserve. have a bit of reserve. Now,

:07:12. > :07:20.speaking of Dancing With The Stars we have Julianne Huff. What is she

:07:20. > :07:24.like on the dance floor? Here and her brother, Derek and her partner

:07:24. > :07:31.was Mark. I judged them. They all lived in Britain for a long while,

:07:31. > :07:39.from ten to 16. So I judged them as kids, many, many times. From that

:07:39. > :07:43.age onwards they, I knew they were something special. Julianne is a

:07:43. > :07:50.fantastic dancer. It doesn't matter if it is ballroom, contemporary.

:07:50. > :07:55.She can do it all. She's a singer. She's got.... I hate her! Don't it

:07:55. > :08:03.get on your wick! She's good at everything. She's on the show later

:08:03. > :08:10.on. We've some quick-fire questions for you now. Here we go.

:08:10. > :08:12.Question one: Who surprised you the most? Anita Dobson. Who from, the

:08:12. > :08:16.celebrities has shown the most improvement since the launch show?

:08:16. > :08:21.Robbie Savage. Question three, who do you think

:08:21. > :08:25.will be the dark horse of the competition? Chelsee.

:08:25. > :08:30.Question four - how close are you pulling out the first ten of the

:08:30. > :08:40.series? Not close at all, at the moment! And question five, who gets

:08:40. > :08:44.

:08:44. > :08:47.on your wick? Frosty knickers. Thank you so much, Len Goodman.

:08:47. > :08:51.We've been out getting the gossip on another pro dancer. See if you

:08:51. > :08:58.can tell who they are talking about here. Can you guess the dance frer

:08:58. > :09:03.these clues. -- dancer from the clues. She is

:09:03. > :09:11.known as Miss Whiplash. favourite catchphrase is "Shut up."

:09:11. > :09:15.That's all she says. This person is a fan of Michael Buble and me.

:09:15. > :09:20.dancer is very well known for her ballroom dancing.

:09:20. > :09:25.So, who do you think it is? Find out later in the show. Do you know

:09:25. > :09:30.who it is, Len? Of course I know. Don't tell. They are coming up next,

:09:30. > :09:40.but here is a reminder of how Chelsee and Pasha found their Latin

:09:40. > :09:43.

:09:43. > :09:46.You have the energy of a wild kitten. It was too full on. Take it

:09:47. > :09:50.calmer. I would rather you go for it, like that, than hold back. I

:09:50. > :09:58.have to commend you for the lifts. They were daring. Overall, for me,

:09:58. > :10:03.it was brilliant. Such a good jump. I am so proud of

:10:03. > :10:12.you. It was nerve-racking. My legs felt like jelly before we went on.

:10:12. > :10:17.That is good for salsa. She gave everything she'd got and nailed it.

:10:17. > :10:22.Thank you. Thank you. No, thank you. Right!

:10:22. > :10:27.I thought she might lump him then, please welcome Chelsee and Pasha.

:10:28. > :10:33.Can I say, you both look absolutely adorable. Did you hear that, Len

:10:33. > :10:36.said he thought you were the dark horse in this competition? I am

:10:36. > :10:42.surprised. That's really encouraging. He thinks you might go

:10:42. > :10:46.a long, long way. You have a mad schedule at the moment. You are

:10:46. > :10:51.doing Waterloo Road and squeezing in training for this in the

:10:51. > :10:58.evenings, how are you finding it? am shattered. It is so tiring. I am

:10:58. > :11:04.finishing at 7pm filming. Then I'm going to rehearsal until 10.30-11pm.

:11:04. > :11:10.It has took it right out of me. she giving it her all? The good

:11:10. > :11:14.quality she has is she goes for it, no matter what, no matter how tired

:11:14. > :11:19.she is. A top gold star for you. Karen was on the show, and she said

:11:20. > :11:23.she's very impressed with your choreography. You are making it

:11:23. > :11:28.quite tough for Chelsee, aren't you? You are pushing her hard.

:11:28. > :11:32.trying to get it up to the level where it is challenging for her, so

:11:32. > :11:35.she improves every week and not boring for the audience. Do you

:11:35. > :11:40.think, you are doing ambitious leaps and steps. How are you

:11:40. > :11:45.finding that, Chelsee? I am out of my depth. It's too hard for me. It

:11:45. > :11:49.is too hard. I'm having trouble. Do you know what, that's part of

:11:49. > :11:52.the thing we love about you. We see you training during the week. It

:11:52. > :11:57.looks like you are struggling. Come Saturday night, you pull it out the

:11:57. > :12:01.bag. He's like if you can't do it, you've got to fake it. I'm trying

:12:01. > :12:04.to fake it. It is hard. He's pushing me to my limits, which is

:12:04. > :12:09.good. How are you getting on. You are training in Manchester. That is

:12:09. > :12:14.where you are filming. How are you getting on with the lin go? I keep

:12:14. > :12:20.teaching him some, don't I? Just a little bit. At least now I can

:12:20. > :12:25.understand. I cannot speak it. I say certain things to him, he

:12:25. > :12:31.gets what I'm saying, don't I? Are you sure he does? We've had a

:12:31. > :12:39.look at you in training. Sometimes things get Lost in Translation.

:12:39. > :12:49.Every time I say something to Pasha, he'll be like, "What, what - I

:12:49. > :12:53.

:12:53. > :13:03.A nana! It aiz a good 'un.

:13:03. > :13:06.

:13:06. > :13:12.What is that? Don't be draft. What Fussy.

:13:12. > :13:18.What is fossy? Can you send me over e-mail the same thing? Honestly, I

:13:18. > :13:24.don't just understand what she says!

:13:24. > :13:32.That is so glorious. We thought you were talking about Bob Fossy, it

:13:32. > :13:37.was fussy. This week, cha-cha-cha, Broadway theme - how are you

:13:37. > :13:41.finding it? Easy easier than the past two weeks. I haven't got it.

:13:41. > :13:47.Because we've come out of salsa which is the same kind of dance.

:13:47. > :13:55.I've come from that straight into another Latin one, so.... Shall we

:13:55. > :14:02.listen to what you're dancing to. It is from Jersey Boys. You didn't

:14:02. > :14:12.know what it was from. You had to talk to your Nana. That is in

:14:12. > :14:17.grandma, not as in banana. Didn't she tell you about Jersey boy?

:14:17. > :14:25.- Jersey Boys. My gran told me. Does she approve, Chelsee? I am

:14:25. > :14:30.sure she wants to dance with him. She loves him. If we notice

:14:30. > :14:35.something different about Chelsee on the show tomorrow it is because

:14:35. > :14:41.your Nana has slipped in. Look at her dance slippers. Will

:14:41. > :14:46.they make an appearance tomorrow night? I don't think Pasha will let

:14:46. > :14:52.me wear them. Third on the leaderboard last week - can you be

:14:52. > :14:56.nearer the top? We will try our best. We will try our best.

:14:56. > :15:01.hours, 40 minutes and 14 seconds until the live show. We wish you

:15:01. > :15:05.both all the best. Chelsee and Pasha.

:15:05. > :15:13.As we wait in the wings for the Broadway special, what are you

:15:13. > :15:18.making of the show so far? Here's points of view.

:15:18. > :15:23.I've just watched Robbie Savage on It Takes Two with his hair pulled

:15:23. > :15:31.back into a pony tail, please tell him to cut his hair, he would look

:15:31. > :15:41.so much more handsome. They did a great job with the foxtrot last

:15:41. > :15:46.week. I thought Alex did great when she kissed brun know -- Bruno.

:15:46. > :15:51.I would like to see the judges dance, please.

:15:51. > :15:56.Natalie I am hoping to get to dance with Len Goodman in this studio

:15:56. > :16:00.very soon. Don't forget to call us over the weekend to let us know

:16:00. > :16:07.what you think. The phone line is always open. Don't hold back. We

:16:07. > :16:13.will play you some of the best ones on Monday. Call us on:

:16:13. > :16:16.Calls cost 10p from a BT land line. Other networks may vary. Calls from

:16:16. > :16:20.mobiles will cost considerably more. Now time to welcome a panel of

:16:20. > :16:25.guests who know their way around a dance floor and a man who knows a

:16:25. > :16:31.thing or two about musicals. Welcome John Barrowman and the

:16:31. > :16:41.special guests of the new Footloose movie, Julianne Hough and Kenny

:16:41. > :16:49.

:16:49. > :16:55.What an entrance! What an entrance! You are my first Friday panel. Go

:16:55. > :16:59.easy with me. I am so excited for you. Thank goodness you are here.

:16:59. > :17:05.You have won Dancing With The Stars, America's version of Strictly Come

:17:05. > :17:09.Dancing. Twice. Back to back. very impressed. Who out of our

:17:09. > :17:18.couples has stood out for you? There's been a couple. I watched

:17:18. > :17:24.Chelsee and Holly and Jason. Those were the three. Also the astrologer.

:17:24. > :17:29.Russell He is fantastic. I love him. Chelsee has the fire and Holly is

:17:29. > :17:35.technical. They all, you spotted good bits in all of them. Kenny

:17:35. > :17:42.very exciting for us. You will perform with Julianne. What will

:17:42. > :17:52.you do? We're doing a duet to one of the songs from Footloose. It is

:17:52. > :17:52.

:17:52. > :17:59.a remake of Holding out For A Hero. You are the new Kevin Bacon.

:17:59. > :18:06.John.... I will be dancing in the living room. You remember it the

:18:06. > :18:10.first time around. Shut up! It's a Broadway show. How jealous are you,

:18:10. > :18:19.John? I am jealous in the way that I got to do the Christmas show. I

:18:19. > :18:23.won the Christmas show - I thought I'd drop that in - me and my

:18:23. > :18:28.quickstep. I would love to do the series but I don't have the time.

:18:28. > :18:33.That is why I am an avenue individual watcher. Let's look then

:18:33. > :18:38.at all our couples. First Audley and Natalie. This weekend they are

:18:38. > :18:43.doing the quickstep. What do you think Audley needs to work on

:18:43. > :18:53.before tomorrow? He's got the smile. He's got the sexiest smile ever. I

:18:53. > :18:59.don't know, he's got big feet. It looks like you. When you have

:19:00. > :19:04.Masai feet, what is the key to look -- When you have massive feet what,

:19:04. > :19:10.is the key to looking like a dancer? This is what they are

:19:10. > :19:14.dancing to. # It's too darn hot #

:19:14. > :19:22.Very sexy. A good rhythm song. Audley, surprisingly enough he

:19:22. > :19:26.might be flat-footed, but he has great rhythm. He did a Michael

:19:26. > :19:29.Jackson number. The first week. think he'll be OK with this. One of

:19:29. > :19:33.these things, in selling it with Broadway, sometimes if you cannot

:19:33. > :19:38.get the hands or feet right, the best thing they tell you is keep

:19:38. > :19:47.smiling and moving. Give us a show of how that is. Tinge! That is how

:19:47. > :19:52.you do it, ladies and gentlemen. Now they are doing the Viennese

:19:52. > :19:56.Wales. They are listening to Queen. You have been on tour with Justin

:19:56. > :20:00.Timberlake and pussy cat dolls. What would your tip be to Dan to

:20:00. > :20:05.bring out the best? You have to match it with the attitude. Maybe a

:20:05. > :20:11.little more than that tape was. That is rehearsals. You save it for

:20:11. > :20:17.the stage. Feed off the audience. Everyone loves that song. How will

:20:17. > :20:23.he channel his inner Freddie Mercury? Eye liner. Eye liner and

:20:23. > :20:30.hair spray. You have two cans on tonight says she! Robbie and ol la

:20:30. > :20:35.will be doing the -- Ola will be doing the tango. When you won, both

:20:35. > :20:40.times sportsmen. I had athletes. What do they bring? The aggression

:20:40. > :20:47.and the work ethic and they work harder than anybody. So Robbie's

:20:47. > :20:53.doing tango. Yes. I think so. By the way he's a hot little mama.

:20:54. > :20:59.wears more hair spray than any of us. His hair is like thick. He had

:20:59. > :21:05.a flip going on last week. That is a consensus. They are dancing to

:21:05. > :21:11.this. # Give me, give me a man after mied

:21:11. > :21:14.night # How do we -- after midnight How do we bring out the ab ba?

:21:14. > :21:24.He'll look fine. I don't know, the problem I get

:21:24. > :21:26.

:21:26. > :21:31.with him, his legs don't move as ello gapbtly. He's -- elegantly.

:21:31. > :21:38.is a footballer, so he'll be quick. That is all we have time for. That

:21:39. > :21:44.is such a shame. One name from each of you. Who will lift the

:21:44. > :21:48.glitterball? Anita. Audley. They will go into an envelope. I

:21:48. > :21:53.will let you know if you win a prize at the end of the series.

:21:53. > :22:02.What's the prize. Thank you for joining us. John Barrowman,

:22:02. > :22:05.Julianne Hough and Kenny Wormald. I think that was a good first

:22:05. > :22:15.Friday panel. Earlier we set you a teaser.

:22:15. > :22:15.

:22:15. > :22:22.Who was everyone talking about? Did you guess. You guessed it, it's me.

:22:22. > :22:27.Miss Whiplash herself, Erin Boag. I'll be in the studio next store

:22:27. > :22:30.where I hope to talk with Anita and Robin. What is it like to take to

:22:30. > :22:36.the Strictly dance floor and perform live in front of the

:22:36. > :22:41.nation? I still get clamy palms thinking about it. For our couples

:22:41. > :22:47.it's the most intense 90 seconds of their lives.

:22:47. > :22:53.Performing live on Strictly is an unreal feeling. I feel sick. I feel

:22:53. > :22:59.like I get hot and cold. Sweaty palms. I kind of lose my mind. I'm

:22:59. > :23:02.not in my body when I'm doing the dance live, at all. It is terror.

:23:02. > :23:08.Then you have to concentrate and hold that concentration through the

:23:08. > :23:12.90 seconds. It is like a first date. You have the nerves and the

:23:12. > :23:22.butterflies. You know you'll go out and perform or you'll not get a

:23:22. > :23:26.second date. It is tuch. It is like you have to -- Tough. It is like

:23:26. > :23:31.you have to step on a train at 100 miles per hour. If you miss it you

:23:31. > :23:35.never get the moment back. It is so encompassing that it is difficult

:23:35. > :23:40.to be aware of anything else. Enjoyment is like in another

:23:40. > :23:45.country. It's like being an athlete. It's

:23:45. > :23:49.one minute and 30 seconds. If you jump the gun, you are out of the

:23:49. > :23:56.World Championships. Full stop. bigest fear is forgetting the steps.

:23:56. > :24:00.The best way to deal with it is finding confidence in your ability

:24:00. > :24:06.to remember. Being so scared to the point you are shaking. You think

:24:25. > :24:30.racking, but the most wonderful thing I've ever experienced in the

:24:30. > :24:33.whole of my television career. It's 90 seconds and the music goes

:24:33. > :24:43.away. Then we sort of go, what happened? I don't remember any of

:25:42. > :25:46.where we're dancing on the floor. It is bigger than our training room.

:25:46. > :25:50.Everything feels bigger. We have to mark it around. Do you get long

:25:50. > :25:57.enough on this big floor before the real show? No. It's what it is.

:25:57. > :26:02.That's all you get. You've got a great tune. Last week,

:26:02. > :26:09.your salsa put Alesha in the mood for cocktails. You are dancing from
