0:02:27 > 0:02:30Personalities were picked apart.
0:02:30 > 0:02:32You came across as boring.
0:02:32 > 0:02:35- I'm not boring so... - Your business plan is half baked.

0:03:45 > 0:03:50No, I didn't think I'd be here. We just have to show what we're made of now.

0:04:25 > 0:04:28I still haven't really got my head around what it would be like
0:04:28 > 0:04:31to be Lord Sugar's business partner.
0:04:31 > 0:04:34For me, it would be absolutely life changing.
0:04:52 > 0:04:551, Marylebone.
0:04:55 > 0:04:58Top location for high profile events.

0:05:23 > 0:05:28Well, you two have done very very well getting through to the final.

0:05:33 > 0:05:36that you should be my business partner.
0:05:36 > 0:05:41Because your final task this week is I want you to launch your business.
0:05:42 > 0:05:44You're going to come up with a brand,
0:05:44 > 0:05:49a website and a launch campaign and it is here in a few days' time
0:05:49 > 0:05:55you're going to present that to me together with industry experts.
0:05:55 > 0:05:57At the end of this whole exercise,
0:05:57 > 0:06:03one of you will get my £250,000 investment in OUR new company.
0:06:05 > 0:06:08Luisa, you might have a good idea but I hope
0:06:08 > 0:06:12your presentation is going to make your business plan much clearer.
0:06:12 > 0:06:15As far as you're concerned, Leah, I need you
0:06:15 > 0:06:19to convince me that I should be investing in something that is
0:06:19 > 0:06:22completely alien to me.
0:06:22 > 0:06:28So, good luck, ladies. Off you go and I'll see you in a few days' time.
0:06:28 > 0:06:30- Thank you.- Thank you.
0:06:32 > 0:06:36To pull off their plans, they'll need to hire some help.
0:06:38 > 0:06:41First job for Luisa, scan CVs.
0:06:41 > 0:06:44She has some really good ideas.
0:06:44 > 0:06:46I do like him, he's just really useless.
0:06:46 > 0:06:48But he does do what he's told
0:06:48 > 0:06:52so with clear instructions, he'll be fine.
0:06:52 > 0:06:56There's nothing wrong with being a strong, direct,
0:06:56 > 0:06:58outspoken female in business.
0:06:58 > 0:07:02I'm really sick to death now of being called manipulative,
0:07:02 > 0:07:04argumentative, intimidating
0:07:04 > 0:07:07and I hope Lord Sugar can see I'm not like that.
0:07:07 > 0:07:09Hi, Neil, it's Lu.
0:07:09 > 0:07:14- 'Hi, Lu.'- Listen, I'm in the final. How are you?- 'Yeah, not too bad.'
0:07:14 > 0:07:18'I'm gutted I'm not there competing against you!'
0:07:18 > 0:07:21- I really want you to be on my team. - '100%.'
0:07:21 > 0:07:23Hello, Alex, babe, it's Leah.
0:07:23 > 0:07:25I'm in the final. I need you to come and help me.
0:07:25 > 0:07:28- Racing to build her dream team... - Can you work with me?
0:07:28 > 0:07:32- 'Yeah, of course I can!'- I'll see soon. Thank you so much. Bye-bye.
0:07:32 > 0:07:33..Leah.
0:07:33 > 0:07:37Lord Sugar doesn't have any businesses in the medical sector.
0:07:37 > 0:07:40- That's potentially something that may put him off investing in me.- 'Hello?'
0:07:40 > 0:07:42Hello, Francesca. It's Leah.
0:07:42 > 0:07:43I know how much money it makes
0:07:43 > 0:07:46and the potential is absolutely phenomenal.
0:07:46 > 0:07:49- Can you come and work with me? - 'Of course I can!'- Great, OK.
0:07:49 > 0:07:53- Uz, it's Leah. Will you come and help me? - 'Yeah, of course I will.'
0:07:53 > 0:07:56- I'm delighted with that team. - Hi, Alex, it's Lu.
0:07:56 > 0:07:57- 'Hello, Lu.'- Hello, darling.
0:07:57 > 0:08:01Listen, I'm in the final and I was wondering if you'd be on my team.
0:08:01 > 0:08:05'Congratulations, Lu, but unfortunately I've already been booked.'
0:08:05 > 0:08:08OK, bye. Fran, it's Lu.
0:08:08 > 0:08:12- 'Hi, darling.' - Has Leah just called you?
0:08:12 > 0:08:16- 'I've been booked by the other team, I'm sorry.'- No worries.
0:08:16 > 0:08:18Why is Myles's phone off?
0:08:18 > 0:08:19'Welcome to the O2...'
0:08:19 > 0:08:24Oh, for God's sake. Which means I'm going to be left with Zee and oh, God...
0:08:27 > 0:08:31I really don't want Jason. He'll be detrimental.
0:08:31 > 0:08:36- It's not the strongest team that I could have had.- 'Hello?' - Hello, Jason. It's Lu.
0:08:36 > 0:08:38'Hi, Lu.'
0:08:38 > 0:08:40Hello, how are you?
0:08:40 > 0:08:43Leah has taken the strong players but as long as I can
0:08:43 > 0:08:46communicate my vision to them, I'm certain we'll get it done.
0:08:46 > 0:08:50I was wondering if you'd return and be on my team?
0:08:50 > 0:08:53'Oh, gosh, what an exciting prospect. Of course I'll come and join you, my dear.'
0:08:53 > 0:08:57But definitely I think I edge it slightly over Leah
0:08:57 > 0:09:00from a branding, website-building, pitching perspective.
0:09:00 > 0:09:03So, she perhaps does need a stronger team around her.
0:09:05 > 0:09:08Tonight, back to the house.
0:09:08 > 0:09:12Tomorrow, it's down to business.
0:09:17 > 0:09:197am.
0:09:21 > 0:09:26Today, Luisa and Leah must build brands for their businesses.
0:09:26 > 0:09:29With a little help from old colleagues.
0:09:31 > 0:09:35Hello! Thank you so much for coming.
0:09:35 > 0:09:38Lovely to see you again.
0:09:39 > 0:09:42Guys, thank you all so much for coming back.
0:09:42 > 0:09:45You were all my first choice, I didn't have to ring anyone else.
0:09:45 > 0:09:47I'm really relieved.
0:09:50 > 0:09:54The final task is all about my business.
0:09:54 > 0:09:56I'm really really exciting.
0:09:57 > 0:10:02My business idea is to create a new baking brand, so cake tins,
0:10:02 > 0:10:04utensils, colours.
0:10:04 > 0:10:07We are a wholesale company, a traditional wholesale model.
0:10:07 > 0:10:11We need to get first of all an initial order with the retailer,
0:10:11 > 0:10:16a wholesale order with a retailer but after that they need to be able to sell it...
0:10:18 > 0:10:21..to their customer, which is the single person.
0:10:24 > 0:10:26Is everyone clear on...?
0:10:27 > 0:10:29Um...
0:10:29 > 0:10:32Predominately wholesale but once the brand takes off,
0:10:32 > 0:10:36- you'll be selling to consumers? - No, it will always be wholesale.
0:10:36 > 0:10:42A strange sense of deja vu being back again on a design task with Luisa.
0:10:42 > 0:10:46The discussion started off as slightly confused,
0:10:46 > 0:10:49are we selling directly to business, are we selling to an end user?
0:10:49 > 0:10:53But I'm sure we'll get more clarity as we go along.
0:10:53 > 0:10:56- Everything to make a cake, bar the cake.- I see ingredients...
0:10:56 > 0:10:58Flour.
0:10:58 > 0:11:00Not flour, no.
0:11:03 > 0:11:06So, a bit about my business. It's a medical cosmetic clinic.
0:11:06 > 0:11:09I want to start a chain across the UK.
0:11:09 > 0:11:12We'd be offering anti-ageing treatments, anti-wrinkle injections,
0:11:12 > 0:11:18facial fillers and it really will be a professional, ethical service
0:11:18 > 0:11:21- and that's what I'm really keen to get across.- I'm bloody vain.
0:11:21 > 0:11:24I think I can lend some real empathy to this.
0:11:25 > 0:11:28Next job, names.
0:11:28 > 0:11:34My first name which I will be going with is skin backwards with the K the wrong way round.
0:11:34 > 0:11:38A face in the middle, this circle design - it's catchy, it's current,
0:11:38 > 0:11:40it can be medical or high street.
0:11:41 > 0:11:47What about Hello, Baker!, with an exclamation?
0:11:47 > 0:11:50Bake Me Happy?
0:11:50 > 0:11:52Sugarcoated?
0:11:53 > 0:11:56No, not keen? That's fine.
0:11:56 > 0:11:59Master Bake?
0:11:59 > 0:12:03The one which I thought of was Reflections.
0:12:03 > 0:12:04The reason I quite liked it is
0:12:04 > 0:12:07because it encompasses the brand of what you're doing.
0:12:07 > 0:12:09I just love NIKS.
0:12:10 > 0:12:14Is this not beautiful, to you? This is beautiful to me.
0:12:17 > 0:12:1811.30am.
0:12:20 > 0:12:26On today's to-do list - research the market,
0:12:26 > 0:12:30design a website and create a brand.
0:12:30 > 0:12:34I just think that something a bit more specific like Sugar Central or Baker's Toolbox
0:12:34 > 0:12:38lends itself to a bigger brand.
0:12:38 > 0:12:43- Still in need of a name, Luisa's company.- Baker's Toolkit,
0:12:43 > 0:12:45I love it. I think it's great.
0:12:45 > 0:12:47You don't even need a tagline, this explains it,
0:12:47 > 0:12:49it says what it is on the tin.
0:12:49 > 0:12:51- Baker's Toolkit.- Definitely.
0:12:55 > 0:12:58First stop, Belgravia. A boutique bakery.
0:12:58 > 0:13:01It's so cute, isn't it, boys?
0:13:01 > 0:13:07And a chance to grill baking professional, Peggy Porschen.
0:13:07 > 0:13:09- Lovely to meet you. - Lovely to meet you.
0:13:09 > 0:13:12We wanted to come to talk to you because I'm pitching a new business idea.
0:13:12 > 0:13:16And the idea is to come up with a new baking brand.
0:13:16 > 0:13:20So, everything you need to make the cake bar the cake.
0:13:20 > 0:13:22So, an online stock ordering system,
0:13:22 > 0:13:24you can see quantities,
0:13:24 > 0:13:27- I've got a cake shop myself. - Have you?
0:13:27 > 0:13:31And the problem I've found is when I'm placing orders to then
0:13:31 > 0:13:34supply to my customers they're constantly out of stock.
0:13:34 > 0:13:36I know the problem.
0:13:36 > 0:13:38You know this problem too, I'm sure.
0:13:38 > 0:13:43Luisa and her merry men have come to speak to this absolute expert
0:13:43 > 0:13:49to gain information, but what happened was actually Luisa didn't really ask too much.
0:13:49 > 0:13:52I know a Wilton 233 nozzle, I cannot get hold of as a supplier.
0:13:52 > 0:13:57Sorry, that's really technical!
0:13:57 > 0:14:02But what it did show, that Luisa knows this business backwards.
0:14:02 > 0:14:08Just before we leave, I don't know whether you wanted to talk about some numbers or something?
0:14:08 > 0:14:11- Numbers?- Numbers, I don't know....
0:14:11 > 0:14:14- I'm good on numbers. - You're good, she's good...
0:14:18 > 0:14:22- Pushing on with her team... - Reflecting Skin?
0:14:22 > 0:14:23And still fixed on NIKS...
0:14:23 > 0:14:29I just love NIKS Medical Group. Imagine that on a billboard.
0:14:29 > 0:14:30Leah.
0:14:30 > 0:14:34- You need clinics or cosmetic in it. - Come on, let's work on this.
0:14:34 > 0:14:36NIKS...
0:14:36 > 0:14:39Leah, you don't do branding, listen to the two people that do.
0:14:39 > 0:14:40This is my brand though.
0:14:42 > 0:14:44Lunchtime.
0:14:44 > 0:14:45South-west London.
0:14:47 > 0:14:51Design base for both teams.
0:14:51 > 0:14:53Creative agency, Brave.
0:14:53 > 0:14:56So, the name we went for is NIKS -
0:14:56 > 0:14:58NIKS with the K backwards.
0:15:01 > 0:15:04So, what we'll do is have me in cartoon form maybe holding
0:15:04 > 0:15:10a rolling pin. Like girly like because I've got quite big eyes.
0:15:10 > 0:15:14For Luisa, a plan to be the face of her brand.
0:15:14 > 0:15:18Colours, we were thinking pink.
0:15:18 > 0:15:20What kind of pink?
0:15:20 > 0:15:22Like more of a pastel shade.
0:15:22 > 0:15:26- Zee's shirt pink or lighter? - Zee's socks.
0:15:29 > 0:15:33Pitching Luisa's pink palette to some professionals...
0:15:33 > 0:15:34Hello, everyone!
0:15:34 > 0:15:36Neil and Natalie.
0:15:37 > 0:15:40We were going to go with light pastel colours,
0:15:40 > 0:15:42we could do the whole thing pink.
0:15:42 > 0:15:45- Is that something that would appeal to you?- No.
0:15:45 > 0:15:49- It's too gender specific, isn't it?- Absolutely.
0:15:51 > 0:15:54So, I've got to be quick...
0:15:54 > 0:15:57The things that we've got from it is in terms of the brand they're
0:15:57 > 0:16:01attracted to more bold colours rather than pinks and stuff.
0:16:01 > 0:16:08OK, our logo is raspberry, almost like a raspberry pink.
0:16:08 > 0:16:11They were staying away from the girly feel.
0:16:11 > 0:16:15Just have it a little bit more kind of unisex rather than
0:16:15 > 0:16:17angled at just women.
0:16:18 > 0:16:22Luisa's got a brand that's very confusing.
0:16:22 > 0:16:27Baker's Toolkit will be sold essentially into the trade.
0:16:27 > 0:16:29What we've got behind me
0:16:29 > 0:16:33is a team that is creating something out of Bambi or Barbie.
0:16:33 > 0:16:35Is that for the professional shopkeeper?
0:16:35 > 0:16:38They are not sure who it is they are selling to.
0:16:38 > 0:16:40I really like myself on there.
0:16:46 > 0:16:49- Upstairs... - No, it's not clear enough.
0:16:49 > 0:16:51I want the S bigger so it draws my eye straight to the end of it.
0:16:51 > 0:16:54Standing up for her brand...
0:16:54 > 0:16:57- Thinner?- Shorter.- ..Leah.
0:16:57 > 0:16:58A bit longer, yeah.
0:16:58 > 0:17:03Typography is key for logos and stuff, typography is really in.
0:17:03 > 0:17:07It says skin. Can we make the I slightly smaller?
0:17:07 > 0:17:11Like... This.
0:17:11 > 0:17:14You know the MPS medical symbol? Make that the I in medical
0:17:14 > 0:17:16which will draw you to the middle of the medical word.
0:17:16 > 0:17:22From the crack of dawn this morning, Leah had very firm ideas on branding and website and logo.
0:17:22 > 0:17:24I would stick to the dark font on the strapline.
0:17:24 > 0:17:29She's been calm, decisive and clear about what she wants to achieve.
0:17:29 > 0:17:32Clean, fresh, medical, skin.
0:17:32 > 0:17:35She's gone very corporate, very safe.
0:17:35 > 0:17:37It is clinical, it's medical.
0:17:37 > 0:17:40The only problem is it's all a bit bland.
0:17:40 > 0:17:44It's not that trendy or funky but it's very clinical.
0:17:44 > 0:17:47- I think it's boring.- Yeah. - I like boring.
0:17:50 > 0:17:516pm.
0:17:51 > 0:17:55It looks like it's really blah, like...
0:17:55 > 0:17:58Under construction, the Baker's Toolkit website.
0:17:58 > 0:18:01Move that over there please.
0:18:01 > 0:18:04No, not that. That.
0:18:04 > 0:18:07Under pressure, Luisa.
0:18:07 > 0:18:10Can you just do it in the order I've asked, sorry.
0:18:10 > 0:18:14I want, this, what I've asked for, done.
0:18:14 > 0:18:17Just make it so it's been thrown on there.
0:18:17 > 0:18:19We can't put that in the middle because we've got text at the top.
0:18:19 > 0:18:22We've got 25 minutes left, we should move on to the second page
0:18:22 > 0:18:25because this has taken us nearly an hour to do this.
0:18:25 > 0:18:30The last time I was with Luisa, it was almost the same situation.
0:18:30 > 0:18:34Luisa is bewildering, frankly. That's her character.
0:18:34 > 0:18:35I don't hold it against her.
0:18:35 > 0:18:39It's a hard task and I'm glad she's sweating a little bit.
0:18:39 > 0:18:43Guys, I need you both to be quiet now so I can do this
0:18:43 > 0:18:45because we're not going to get it done.
0:18:45 > 0:18:47So, the website is looking good.
0:18:47 > 0:18:50We've got the structure there, the right structure, a professional website.
0:18:50 > 0:18:52Thank you, boys. Very good.
0:18:52 > 0:18:55- Thank you very much.- Thank you.
0:18:55 > 0:18:577pm.
0:18:57 > 0:19:02- Thanks.- Good day's work.- Yeah.
0:19:02 > 0:19:06Last time, Luisa and I were about to pull each other's hairs out.
0:19:10 > 0:19:13Both businesses branded.
0:19:13 > 0:19:17Tomorrow you've really got to boom, boom, boom. Get it done.
0:19:17 > 0:19:21- We have to help Luisa win this task. - Yep.
0:19:21 > 0:19:25I think having now, doing this task, something I feel confident is my field.
0:19:25 > 0:19:30Today, I feel like every decision I know the answer to.
0:19:39 > 0:19:428am.
0:19:42 > 0:19:47For Luisa and Leah, one day left to prepare for launch.
0:19:49 > 0:19:52Today, to bring their presentations to life,
0:19:52 > 0:19:55both teams must produce a promotional video.
0:19:55 > 0:19:57We're creative individuals.
0:19:57 > 0:20:01We can help you to ensure that what we produce today is not only
0:20:01 > 0:20:03tasteful, it's also professional.
0:20:03 > 0:20:05A West London clinic.

0:20:20 > 0:20:23It's a very pink industry.
0:20:25 > 0:20:29Millie, this is Lewis and he's your pretend brother for the day.
0:20:29 > 0:20:32For the purposes of this. I'll pretend to be your mum, OK?
0:20:36 > 0:20:38Dr Leah's white coat.
0:20:40 > 0:20:44On the NIKS set, newly appointed creatives Uzma and Alex.
0:20:44 > 0:20:47But I just think that it looks quite nice in the background
0:20:47 > 0:20:50because of the height of it. It brings it up.
0:20:50 > 0:20:53Talking of making the room look pretty and Leah comes in.
0:20:53 > 0:20:56That thing in the background doesn't fit the rest of the decor.
0:20:56 > 0:20:58Put that on the other table.
0:21:00 > 0:21:04- Does that not look better? - Just imagine that was a cup of tea.
0:21:04 > 0:21:07We don't need to discuss it any further. That's what we are doing. Yep.
0:21:07 > 0:21:10Leah's on the rampage, trying to make sure things get done.
0:21:10 > 0:21:13Do we have a stethoscope? Literally, that I can put my hand on this minute.
0:21:13 > 0:21:15Can you get one this very minute.
0:21:15 > 0:21:19She doesn't seem to have much confidence in the people around her trying to do the job.
0:21:19 > 0:21:21And she is trying to do it all her own way.
0:21:21 > 0:21:23Leah is definitely feeling the pressure at the moment.
0:21:23 > 0:21:25- She just needs to calm down. - She is a bit stressed.
0:21:25 > 0:21:30Sit right back. Don't hunch. Relax. Look happy.
0:21:30 > 0:21:34We need a bit of variation. I don't have time to discuss it any more.
0:21:34 > 0:21:36Can we clear, a clear shot.
0:21:36 > 0:21:40My name is Doctor Leah Totton. Thank you for coming today.
0:21:40 > 0:21:45We will practise it a few times, and then we will go with it. Is that OK?
0:21:45 > 0:21:48In the family kitchen and ready to roll.

0:22:04 > 0:22:06It's really good.
0:22:06 > 0:22:10Very good. Very genuine. Very honest. Yeah.
0:22:10 > 0:22:15Can I have Millie and Lewis smiling at this lovely man here, Jason.
0:22:15 > 0:22:18It's a new day, teamwork and smiles, that's what this afternoon
0:22:18 > 0:22:22has been about and I'm very happy that we've done so well.
0:22:22 > 0:22:26- Make us your new wholesaler. - Wholesaler or wholesale supplier?
0:22:26 > 0:22:30Wholesale supplier. Make us your new wholesale supplier.
0:22:30 > 0:22:35Luisa, who started out in the process as being a bit of a nuisance, not
0:22:35 > 0:22:39getting on with the team mates, and in fact, Lord Sugar said, "Are you trouble?"
0:22:39 > 0:22:43But here we are, at the very end, she is in the final, and her
0:22:43 > 0:22:48team warm to her, she warms to them, they are working as a great unit.

0:23:10 > 0:23:12..Myles and Francesca.
0:23:12 > 0:23:15Have you ever had or considered non-surgical cosmetic treatment?
0:23:15 > 0:23:19- I'd consider it but I haven't. - Highly trained doctors.
0:23:19 > 0:23:24- Is that important or not too important? 8/10?- 10/10.- OK.
0:23:24 > 0:23:28What about the brand itself, what it's called, how it looks?
0:23:28 > 0:23:31- It's important for me. - It's important for you.
0:23:31 > 0:23:35We are looking at a name called Niks, which is skin backwards.
0:23:35 > 0:23:39- Out of 10, how much do you like that?- One.- One?- Awful.
0:23:39 > 0:23:42- OK, why is that?- Do you know why?
0:23:42 > 0:23:45- Niks. It sounds like a knife. No.- OK.
0:23:46 > 0:23:49That wasn't a brilliant comment.
0:23:49 > 0:23:53I just hope, for her sake, she's not going to get slaughtered with that.
0:23:54 > 0:23:58At Niks, our staff are highly-trained.
0:23:58 > 0:24:01At Niks, our staff, our staff... At Niks, our staff?
0:24:01 > 0:24:03I think that's too many words.
0:24:03 > 0:24:08At Niks, we offer a professional service in a clinical environment.
0:24:08 > 0:24:10MOBILE RINGS
0:24:10 > 0:24:11- Hi, Leah!- How are you?
0:24:11 > 0:24:13One thing we wanted to feed back before you
0:24:13 > 0:24:17carried on is on the sound of the name, I'll let Myles explain.
0:24:17 > 0:24:21One lady, for example, said that's a terrible name,
0:24:21 > 0:24:25in the sense of, it sounds like cutting.
0:24:25 > 0:24:27We just wanted to tell you before you go on
0:24:27 > 0:24:31and do all your filming that maybe you go with N-I-K-S instead of Niks.
0:24:31 > 0:24:33Yeah.
0:24:33 > 0:24:36- Really, really quick, just start again.- Exactly what you've done.
0:24:36 > 0:24:39Leah loved the name Niks, skin backwards,
0:24:39 > 0:24:41she could visualise it, she could see it.
0:24:41 > 0:24:43She forgot to think about the association,
0:24:43 > 0:24:48the term "nicks" is more associated with a shaving cut as opposed
0:24:48 > 0:24:51to a professional cosmetic name.
0:24:51 > 0:24:58Leah's having to reshoot her whole video with N-I-K-S. It's not great.
0:24:58 > 0:25:00My name is Dr Leah Totton,
0:25:00 > 0:25:05and I am now the founder and clinical director of N-I-K-S Medical.

0:25:10 > 0:25:14Directing is a potential future career to you.
0:25:14 > 0:25:15It is on the cards.
0:25:15 > 0:25:17On Luisa's team...
0:25:17 > 0:25:19Like many of you, I'm a baker and a business owner,
0:25:19 > 0:25:22and I've been unable to rely on my supply.
0:25:22 > 0:25:26For their promotional video, a private preview.

0:25:42 > 0:25:48Do you think the brand is conveyed, explained properly, directing people?
0:25:48 > 0:25:52I will tell you one key thing you're really going to excel
0:25:52 > 0:25:57at in comparison to Leah, yourself as a person, people liking you.
0:25:57 > 0:26:01Your personality, Leah's not going to be able to compete, honestly.
0:26:01 > 0:26:03I'm not sure how well I'm going to sleep tonight.
0:26:03 > 0:26:05I'm really excited, though.
0:26:05 > 0:26:10It was really humbling that everyone is working so incredibly hard for me.
0:26:10 > 0:26:12For them, as much as for me, I'm going
0:26:12 > 0:26:15to really pull it out of the bag tomorrow.
0:26:16 > 0:26:21Still in the edit, and driving her creative team, Leah.
0:26:21 > 0:26:24You're seeing half of my face coming into the waiting room,
0:26:24 > 0:26:25that's not right.
0:26:25 > 0:26:28I've been much more harsh on the team than
0:26:28 > 0:26:30I have been in previous tasks.
0:26:30 > 0:26:34I'm not saying this again, cut that scene.
0:26:34 > 0:26:36At times I have been quite short with them.
0:26:36 > 0:26:39That is far too near to getting, literally injecting her eye.
0:26:39 > 0:26:41Stop, stop. Oh, gosh.
0:26:41 > 0:26:44I do feel nervous and I do feel apprehensive.
0:26:44 > 0:26:46I'm 24, I've never done anything like this in the past,
0:26:46 > 0:26:48and I think they appreciate that.
0:26:48 > 0:26:50There needs to be something on the screen.
0:26:50 > 0:26:54Can someone who is creative please find an ending that is strong?
0:26:58 > 0:27:00Tonight, last-minute tweaks.

0:27:39 > 0:27:43- Oh, yeah.- Look at the room, this is all yours.
0:27:43 > 0:27:48But before that, time to fine-tune both presentations.
0:27:48 > 0:27:51I would also like to show you the first draft whilst
0:27:51 > 0:27:53I talk you through the brand.
0:27:53 > 0:27:57It's for Luisa, I think, to win this or lose this now.
0:27:57 > 0:28:01We're doing a lot of preparation, we're setting the backdrop,
0:28:01 > 0:28:04but this is the backdrop to the pitch, and if the pitch is
0:28:04 > 0:28:08not pitch perfect, that's what is going to lose it for her.
0:28:08 > 0:28:14We want everything to look really pretty, really girly. Oh, guys!
0:28:14 > 0:28:17That is so cool!
0:28:17 > 0:28:21I think it's really pink. We're very on-brand, everyone.
0:28:21 > 0:28:22The brand is a lot pinker than I expected,
0:28:22 > 0:28:25but that is what she wants, that is what it is.
0:28:26 > 0:28:30I'm the founder and clinical director of NIKS Medical.
0:28:30 > 0:28:33I would like to thank you all for attending this evening.

0:28:50 > 0:28:52On Baker's Toolkit...
0:28:52 > 0:28:56We need to get out our cake stands.
0:28:56 > 0:28:58Priority for Luisa - piping.
0:29:03 > 0:29:06This isn't going to work. God's sake.
0:29:07 > 0:29:11Here we are, time is marching on, where is Luisa? Is she practising?
0:29:11 > 0:29:16- No. She's icing cakes. - You need to put glitter on those.
0:29:16 > 0:29:20'The whole success of this venture, Baker's Toolkit,'
0:29:20 > 0:29:23will hinge on the business idea.
0:29:23 > 0:29:26Secondly, on the way that she presents tonight, and as
0:29:26 > 0:29:32we all know, failing to prepare that presentation is preparing to fail.
0:29:37 > 0:29:437pm. Doors open to welcome top names from British industry,
0:29:45 > 0:29:51including experts from the worlds of baking and cosmetic medicine.
0:29:53 > 0:29:56It's a huge day, so I am feeling nervous.
0:29:56 > 0:30:00I think I am quite a clinical person, so sometimes it may
0:30:00 > 0:30:02come across as though I am not as passionate as I potentially am.
0:30:02 > 0:30:06I'm keen to get that warmth of my personality across tonight.
0:30:13 > 0:30:17I really believe in my business plan, I really believe in the brand that I
0:30:17 > 0:30:25created, and perhaps the edge that I have over Leah is my big personality.
0:30:25 > 0:30:29I'm a pretty confident person and I know my own abilities,
0:30:29 > 0:30:33and I think this is playing to them very well.
0:30:33 > 0:30:36- Good luck, yeah?- OK, thanks.
0:30:42 > 0:30:45First up, Luisa's big idea. Baker's Toolkit.
0:30:45 > 0:30:49APPLAUSE
0:30:56 > 0:30:58Hello, everybody.
0:30:58 > 0:31:02I'm Luisa Zissman, and I'm so excited to introduce to you
0:31:02 > 0:31:05Baker's Toolkit - a new baking brand and wholesaler.
0:31:07 > 0:31:11The name Baker's Toolkit stands for everything that a home
0:31:11 > 0:31:14and professional, and professional baker needs,
0:31:14 > 0:31:17from the smallest pot of gil... Sorry.
0:31:17 > 0:31:21From the smallest pot of glitter, to the...big professional rolling
0:31:21 > 0:31:24pins that are used throughout bakeries in the UK.
0:31:24 > 0:31:26We want to offer an online ordering system
0:31:26 > 0:31:30and a guaranteed three-day delivery service.
0:31:30 > 0:31:33This is something our competitors don't currently offer.
0:31:33 > 0:31:37In year one, we expect to turn over just under £1 million,
0:31:37 > 0:31:41growing to £3.2 million in year three.
0:31:41 > 0:31:45This may seem ambitious, however, I believe these are realistic figures.
0:31:45 > 0:31:49I've created a short promotional video for
0:31:49 > 0:31:53when Baker's Toolkit comes to market, and I'd love to show it to you now.
0:31:54 > 0:31:56I'm Luisa Zissman.
0:31:56 > 0:31:58Like many of you, I'm a baker and a business owner,
0:31:58 > 0:32:02and I've been unable to rely on my suppliers.
0:32:02 > 0:32:07So I created Baker's Toolkit, a new baking brand
0:32:07 > 0:32:09and wholesaler that's here to solve all your problems.
0:32:09 > 0:32:11Innovative products with great prices.
0:32:11 > 0:32:14Online ordering with visible stock levels
0:32:14 > 0:32:17and a guaranteed three-day delivery service.
0:32:17 > 0:32:21Make Baker's Toolkit your new wholesale supplier.
0:32:21 > 0:32:24Baking shouldn't be a struggle. It's a piece of cake.
0:32:24 > 0:32:29APPLAUSE
0:32:33 > 0:32:37- Hi, Luisa. I really loved the passion for your product.- Thank you.
0:32:37 > 0:32:39Very pink, very female-orientated,
0:32:39 > 0:32:42do you not think you're losing a big section of the market?
0:32:42 > 0:32:47I know that this industry is still dominated by females
0:32:47 > 0:32:49and I didn't want to shy away from that.
0:32:49 > 0:32:54I think the strength of the brand will not put bakers who are male
0:32:54 > 0:32:59off coming to us, because the quality of the products will be really good.
0:32:59 > 0:33:03Very impressive numbers in year one and year three.
0:33:03 > 0:33:05Do you have a longer-term view of what those numbers are going
0:33:05 > 0:33:07to look like?
0:33:07 > 0:33:09In five years' time, honestly,
0:33:09 > 0:33:13I haven't thought past that far yet, but I'd expect in five years to be
0:33:13 > 0:33:16turning over an extra million a year, so,
0:33:16 > 0:33:22five million with a gross profit of...
0:33:22 > 0:33:24I can't answer that, I'd just be lying to you.
0:33:24 > 0:33:27I need to go back and look at that,
0:33:27 > 0:33:29but I would expect to turn over £5 million in year five.
0:33:29 > 0:33:31Thank you very much.
0:33:31 > 0:33:35APPLAUSE
0:33:39 > 0:33:42- It was awful!- It wasn't awful.
0:33:42 > 0:33:44I was standing right at the back, it was brilliant, honestly.
0:33:44 > 0:33:47- SHE CRIES It was really bad.- Come on, you've done a brilliant job.
0:33:47 > 0:33:49You should be really proud of yourself. Really proud.
0:33:49 > 0:33:53You're doing great, so don't be upset about it, you should be happy.
0:33:53 > 0:33:58- You should be happy.- It went really, really well.- Please don't be upset.
0:33:58 > 0:34:01I know how it went, I was standing there,
0:34:01 > 0:34:04I know how it went and it didn't go well.
0:34:04 > 0:34:06You came across so well, honestly.
0:34:10 > 0:34:14For Lord Sugar, feedback from the experts.
0:34:14 > 0:34:19- I felt the brand was very strong. - The brand name, Baker's Toolkit?
0:34:19 > 0:34:21I think it rides well with the renaissance in baking,
0:34:21 > 0:34:25I thought what Luisa did very well was to really impart her
0:34:25 > 0:34:29vision for creating a personable business.
0:34:29 > 0:34:32I think the concept has definitely got the bones of something,
0:34:32 > 0:34:34but I think it needs some more refined thinking as to
0:34:34 > 0:34:37actually who she is targeting this at.
0:34:38 > 0:34:42I felt the brand was very strong from an identity point of view,
0:34:42 > 0:34:45but I think it was wrong if it's a trade supplies website.
0:34:50 > 0:34:56'Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the launch of NIKS Medical.'
0:34:56 > 0:35:01Next up, Leah's face-firming brand.
0:35:01 > 0:35:04"ORINOCO FLOW" BY ENYA PLAYS OVER SPEAKERS
0:35:16 > 0:35:19APPLAUSE
0:35:21 > 0:35:23Good evening, hello, and welcome.
0:35:23 > 0:35:29My name is Leah, and I'm the founder and clinical director of NIKS Medical.
0:35:30 > 0:35:35NIKS Medical are a new chain of medical cosmetic clinics.
0:35:35 > 0:35:42The name itself NIKS Medical is a play on skin, on reflecting skin
0:35:42 > 0:35:45and on turning back time on your skin.
0:35:45 > 0:35:51But what is unique is that we will be focusing on only three key treatments.
0:35:51 > 0:35:56Antiwrinkle injections, facial fillers, and skin peels.
0:35:56 > 0:36:01The business model itself is simple.
0:36:01 > 0:36:05To establish a clinic I require an aesthetic medical practitioner
0:36:05 > 0:36:07who will act as clinic manager,
0:36:07 > 0:36:10and I myself will spend four months training that
0:36:10 > 0:36:14person before moving onto the next clinic and training the next
0:36:14 > 0:36:17clinic manager in a rollout scheme across three years
0:36:17 > 0:36:20and targeting three geographical areas within the UK.
0:36:20 > 0:36:26I would like to show you a brief corporate promotional video which
0:36:26 > 0:36:30I prepared with my team yesterday.
0:36:33 > 0:36:34My name is Dr Leah Totton.
0:36:34 > 0:36:38I am a clinical doctor and also an aesthetic medicine practitioner.
0:36:38 > 0:36:41I am extremely passionate about bringing clinical excellence to
0:36:41 > 0:36:44the aesthetic medicine field. As a clinician
0:36:44 > 0:36:47I know just how important a clinical environment,
0:36:47 > 0:36:50highly trained staff, and safe and reliable treatments are to
0:36:50 > 0:36:54my clients. At NIKS Medical that is exactly what we deliver.
0:36:54 > 0:36:59I personally know how important your skin is. We are about making you
0:36:59 > 0:37:01feel comfortable in your own skin.
0:37:05 > 0:37:10I'm a qualified medical doctor. I trained privately as an aesthetic
0:37:10 > 0:37:12medicine practitioner
0:37:12 > 0:37:17and I am passionate about bringing clinical excellence to this sector.
0:37:17 > 0:37:21Hello, my name is Dr Tracy Mountford. My first question
0:37:21 > 0:37:23is about the training of your staff.
0:37:23 > 0:37:31How are you going to monitor the expertise because people will come for you?
0:37:31 > 0:37:36Yes. I think the answer is key staff and excellent training. I think that will
0:37:36 > 0:37:42ensure they are delivering genuinely high quality excellent client care.
0:37:42 > 0:37:45I don't understand why you are restricting your offering to
0:37:45 > 0:37:49such basic treatments in a market with more increasingly
0:37:49 > 0:37:51sophisticated consumers.
0:37:51 > 0:37:56I don't know that you do actually understand the market as well as you think you do.
0:37:56 > 0:37:59My feeling would be that I do.
0:37:59 > 0:38:03The key thing which I was keen to do here is make absolutely sure
0:38:03 > 0:38:09that we were only offering treatments that have a low side effect profile -
0:38:09 > 0:38:11the treatments which are the most established
0:38:11 > 0:38:13and have the most clinical grounding.
0:38:13 > 0:38:17I can assure you they are the most popular treatments at the minute.
0:38:17 > 0:38:21Thank you very much for your time this evening. It has been a pleasure.
0:38:21 > 0:38:23APPLAUSE
0:38:30 > 0:38:34- How was it?- Such a bad question and answer. That was so hard.
0:38:37 > 0:38:38What do you think of the brand name?
0:38:38 > 0:38:41You've almost got to explain it which makes it difficult for people
0:38:41 > 0:38:44to understand and as soon as you have to start explaining something
0:38:44 > 0:38:46you are already one step behind.
0:38:46 > 0:38:50- It's very subtle.- It's a hugely competitive market.
0:38:50 > 0:38:55She's got to stand head and shoulders above the competition.
0:38:55 > 0:38:59Very strong presentation style. Very strong business proposition.
0:38:59 > 0:39:03We all know that market is expanding hugely
0:39:03 > 0:39:05and it's only going to go one way.
0:39:10 > 0:39:13Tonight nothing more can be done.
0:39:21 > 0:39:24Tomorrow the final boardroom.
0:39:37 > 0:39:39I really believe in my business plan.
0:39:39 > 0:39:43I really believe in the brand that I created,
0:39:43 > 0:39:48but I feel like I really let the brand down and let the team down
0:39:48 > 0:39:50in the delivery of the pitch.
0:39:53 > 0:39:56It's going to be completely out of Lord Sugar's comfort zone
0:39:56 > 0:39:59if he does go with me. He needs to trust and believe in me.
0:39:59 > 0:40:01I hope I have shown him enough throughout
0:40:01 > 0:40:05the process to show that I really am the right person for that investment.
0:40:29 > 0:40:31You can go through to the boardroom now.
0:40:55 > 0:40:57Good afternoon.
0:40:57 > 0:40:58ALL: Afternoon, Lord Sugar.
0:41:01 > 0:41:06Welcome back to the past candidates. Thanks for your cooperation.
0:41:06 > 0:41:10This as you know is the final run in
0:41:10 > 0:41:14where one of these ladies will get my investment.
0:41:14 > 0:41:18Let's start off with Luisa's team.
0:41:18 > 0:41:22I feel like I got a really good team together.
0:41:22 > 0:41:25I wanted Neil on my team because he's such a strong candidate.
0:41:25 > 0:41:30I have a lot of respect for him. I enjoyed working with Jason again.
0:41:30 > 0:41:32It gave me a chance to redeem myself.
0:41:34 > 0:41:36Can we just get round to the name first of all?
0:41:36 > 0:41:39Zee, I think you came up with...
0:41:39 > 0:41:43Uh, well... ahem, you said you wanted to be famous so...
0:41:43 > 0:41:48you will go down as the first man in history that Luisa's listened to - maybe.
0:41:48 > 0:41:50- That's a good achievement.- Yeah.
0:41:50 > 0:41:53So, go on, now you've split the team up and tell me what you did then.
0:41:53 > 0:41:57Jason, Z and myself went to speak to Peggy Porschen the industry expert.
0:41:58 > 0:42:00What did you glean from Peggy?
0:42:00 > 0:42:03Um, she confirmed what I already knew about the industry that there
0:42:03 > 0:42:05is a really disjointed supply and demand at the moment.
0:42:05 > 0:42:10Did you feel you gave her much of an opportunity to have a chat to you,
0:42:10 > 0:42:13or were you explaining what you knew about the industry, which is a great deal.
0:42:13 > 0:42:17Are you trying to say politely that she never got a word in edgeways?
0:42:17 > 0:42:19I think three or four words in edgeways.
0:42:19 > 0:42:22She was agreeing with a lot of what I said.
0:42:22 > 0:42:26Cos she was in agreement, she didn't then really have a lot to offer me.
0:42:26 > 0:42:29Who went to this focus group?
0:42:29 > 0:42:32Erm, Neil and Natalie went to the focus group for me.
0:42:32 > 0:42:37From what I can understand in the focus group, we got
0:42:37 > 0:42:41- a bit of negative feedback about pink, did we not?- The feedback
0:42:41 > 0:42:45we got was there is more males that are now coming into the market.
0:42:45 > 0:42:48Myself and Natalie asked quite a lot of questions,
0:42:48 > 0:42:50gave a lot of feedback back.
0:42:50 > 0:42:51It obviously didn't get listened to
0:42:51 > 0:42:55because the presentation was very pink.
0:42:55 > 0:42:58I had with me yesterday, a couple of people from the industry you are in,
0:42:58 > 0:43:00they were a little bit confused -
0:43:00 > 0:43:04is it for consumers or is it for the trade?
0:43:04 > 0:43:07I have always had the end user in my mind when doing this.
0:43:07 > 0:43:12The message should be really focused, straight to the trade.
0:43:12 > 0:43:16I think I did convey the key USPs very clearly in the video, actually.
0:43:16 > 0:43:19- How do you think your pitch went? - Not great. I lost my way on my cue cards that
0:43:19 > 0:43:23were in front of me and then, pretty much ad-libbed.
0:43:23 > 0:43:25I didn't notice you lost your way.
0:43:25 > 0:43:30I think you came across very well as far as I was concerned. Erm, right.
0:43:30 > 0:43:33Listen, you four people that came across Luisa throughout
0:43:33 > 0:43:38the course of the process, how did you find her as a manager of people?
0:43:38 > 0:43:41Yeah, I think that Luisa has changed through the process.
0:43:41 > 0:43:44Initially, you just wanted to do it your way,
0:43:44 > 0:43:48but from this kind of experience, she was taking control
0:43:48 > 0:43:51- but taking on board everyone's opinion.- Good.
0:43:51 > 0:43:53Jason, the events of earlier in the process of the abdication,
0:43:53 > 0:43:56no signs of that on this?
0:43:56 > 0:43:58No, I think the dynamics of this task were quite different because
0:43:58 > 0:44:01this was Luisa's vision and Luisa was in control.
0:44:01 > 0:44:05We worked perfectly together. LAUGHTER
0:44:05 > 0:44:09I mean I was very touched that she actually called me and asked me to help her.
0:44:11 > 0:44:14OK. Leah, perhaps you can kick off.
0:44:14 > 0:44:19Might I say before you do, a very good dance from you there,
0:44:19 > 0:44:20Francesca.
0:44:20 > 0:44:25You went out your way to help your project manager in this case,
0:44:25 > 0:44:27- is that right? - It was for Leah, she'd asked me to.
0:44:27 > 0:44:30Well, good, that's very nice of you.
0:44:30 > 0:44:35So, Leah. Alex, Myles, Francesca and Uzma, how'd that work?
0:44:35 > 0:44:40Yeah, fantastic. They were my first four choices. I got all four.
0:44:40 > 0:44:44Throughout the task, they were all absolutely exceptional.
0:44:44 > 0:44:47Can we talk about the name first of all, when did the name come out?
0:44:47 > 0:44:50I came up with NIKS Medical, the group came up with the other names
0:44:50 > 0:44:52and then I picked my name.
0:44:52 > 0:44:55- So this NI... - LAUGHTER
0:44:55 > 0:44:57- NIKS?- Yeah.
0:44:57 > 0:45:01NIKS is how it would be pronounced but NICKS is how it would be read.
0:45:01 > 0:45:04- Erm, it's SKIN backwards.- Sounds like Mr Hugh has opened a wine bar.
0:45:04 > 0:45:07LAUGHTER
0:45:07 > 0:45:09I wish.
0:45:09 > 0:45:13Originally, you were going to call the company NICKS. LEAH: Yeah.
0:45:13 > 0:45:18When people said shaving cuts, needles, nicks of the skin...
0:45:18 > 0:45:21you decided you would change it to NIKS.
0:45:21 > 0:45:25- They didn't like NICKS, did they? - No.- Did you feed that back to Leah?
0:45:25 > 0:45:28- Yes, we did. - And she didn't care still.
0:45:28 > 0:45:30I think to be fair, the point you're making is that we had a concern
0:45:30 > 0:45:34and fed that information back and so Leah from that point on in the video
0:45:34 > 0:45:38and the presentation referred to it as NIKS and not NICKS to answer the question.
0:45:38 > 0:45:41It will always henceforth be known as NICKS.
0:45:41 > 0:45:43- Yeah, It will. - I don't think NICKS is bad, it's a
0:45:43 > 0:45:46play on the irony that we're actually not cutting anything.
0:45:46 > 0:45:47I think that's good.
0:45:47 > 0:45:51- Do you?- Well, it's not great but that is how you would spin it.
0:45:51 > 0:45:55But anyway, so, I'm sitting next to the experts.
0:45:55 > 0:46:00They seem to think that individuals that want these treatments done,
0:46:00 > 0:46:03tend to want to stick and go to the person they always go to.
0:46:03 > 0:46:06If they want to go to Leah for example...
0:46:06 > 0:46:09I really disagree with that. I can't get across to you,
0:46:09 > 0:46:12the person who is leading this field by an absolute mile, is a brand.
0:46:12 > 0:46:14There is no face of that company.
0:46:14 > 0:46:18The reason that she does have a chance to counter the argument you're saying, Lord Sugar,
0:46:18 > 0:46:21is she is focusing on three key treatments only.
0:46:21 > 0:46:23So her stuff can be brilliant...
0:46:23 > 0:46:24That, Miles, is again,
0:46:24 > 0:46:28is another negative that was brought up by those people.
0:46:28 > 0:46:31I totally disagreed with that lady, that is not right.
0:46:31 > 0:46:34You've been disagreeing with the industry leaders all night
0:46:34 > 0:46:37long, which is not a good thing to do. OK?
0:46:37 > 0:46:41You've pointed out that you are interested in going into business
0:46:41 > 0:46:44with me and what will I bring to the business, well, I can bring my name.
0:46:44 > 0:46:47You probably don't need my face, that's for sure.
0:46:47 > 0:46:53But what I do have is an array of friends of a similar age group to me,
0:46:53 > 0:46:58without a question of a doubt, all of those people that have had
0:46:58 > 0:47:01all of these treatments over the years
0:47:01 > 0:47:06- stick to their one favourite person. - Mm-hm.
0:47:06 > 0:47:10They do not flit around and the criteria of why
0:47:10 > 0:47:14they stick to that person is very simple, "Who done your face?"
0:47:14 > 0:47:18"Done a good job. Get me an appointment there."
0:47:18 > 0:47:20That's how they deal with it.
0:47:20 > 0:47:22It's not like changing a tyre on a car.
0:47:22 > 0:47:24I totally agree that you follow who you trust.
0:47:24 > 0:47:27Her background in medicine brings a personal side to it
0:47:27 > 0:47:29- and having her face leading it... - I agree.
0:47:29 > 0:47:30- ..leads the brand.- I agree 100%.
0:47:30 > 0:47:33On the basis of her campaigning it's all Luisa,
0:47:33 > 0:47:36I don't particularly agree with that.
0:47:36 > 0:47:39I think it should all be the product. This is all about her.
0:47:39 > 0:47:43My favoured name for this business is "Dr Leah".
0:47:43 > 0:47:44I don't like that...
0:47:44 > 0:47:46LAUGHTER
0:47:46 > 0:47:47Change your name.
0:47:47 > 0:47:49All right, so
0:47:49 > 0:47:51everybody happy with how Leah did here?
0:47:51 > 0:47:53I think Leah got the best from everyone
0:47:53 > 0:47:56in a way that actually, this whole brand
0:47:56 > 0:47:58and her concept of business
0:47:58 > 0:47:59very much became our babies.
0:47:59 > 0:48:02Because she was knowledgeable and passionate about the product,
0:48:02 > 0:48:04she WAS making decisive decisions.
0:48:04 > 0:48:06All Leah's key skills came through.
0:48:06 > 0:48:08And she managed us very well.
0:48:08 > 0:48:11As far as the candidates that came back,
0:48:11 > 0:48:13thank you for your assistance.
0:48:13 > 0:48:16We'll see you later, most probably, yeah?
0:48:16 > 0:48:18ALL: Thank you.
0:48:18 > 0:48:20- Best of luck.- Thank you.
0:48:20 > 0:48:21Thank you.
0:48:24 > 0:48:27I can only invest in one of you...
0:48:27 > 0:48:30..unfortunately,
0:48:30 > 0:48:33and I'll go on
0:48:33 > 0:48:36to speak to you a little more and make that final decision shortly, so
0:48:36 > 0:48:39if you wouldn't mind stepping outside,
0:48:39 > 0:48:42I'll consult a bit more with Karren and Nick and call you back in later.
0:48:42 > 0:48:44Thank you.
0:48:55 > 0:48:57Two completely different business models.
0:48:57 > 0:49:00As far as Leah is concerned,
0:49:00 > 0:49:03she doesn't look like she wants to listen.
0:49:03 > 0:49:06It's all very well being adamant
0:49:06 > 0:49:10in what you want to do, but she'll need to listen.
0:49:10 > 0:49:12I have to say, having observed her closely,
0:49:12 > 0:49:14- she's an incredibly bright young woman.- Mm.
0:49:14 > 0:49:17She really does know what she's talking about
0:49:17 > 0:49:20and actually, she's shown
0:49:20 > 0:49:24that she can take a gift that she has
0:49:24 > 0:49:26and use that to create a business.
0:49:26 > 0:49:28I think that shows a really unique skill.
0:49:28 > 0:49:30Under "Leah", I have "stubborn".
0:49:30 > 0:49:33And under "Luisa", I have "less stubborn".
0:49:33 > 0:49:38Earlier on in the process, Luisa came across as a bit...
0:49:38 > 0:49:40- difficult, I suppose.- Hot-headed.
0:49:40 > 0:49:42I definitely was worried at one point,
0:49:42 > 0:49:45if there was a business woman behind all that
0:49:45 > 0:49:47persona that she puts across.
0:49:47 > 0:49:50- All the pink stuff. - All the pink, yes.
0:49:50 > 0:49:51But I think she's proved
0:49:51 > 0:49:53that actually she understands the business,

0:49:55 > 0:49:58AND that she's learnt from what you told her..
0:49:58 > 0:50:02- Mm.- ..And she's changed and adapted her style.
0:50:02 > 0:50:05Yeah, well, we have two very investable candidates here.
0:50:05 > 0:50:08It's not going to be an easy decision.

0:50:53 > 0:50:56It's the most difficult for me
0:50:56 > 0:51:00because we do have two very, very credible business plans.
0:51:00 > 0:51:02I'd like to give you a last-time opportunity
0:51:02 > 0:51:04of explaining to me
0:51:04 > 0:51:08why you think you should be my business partner.
0:51:08 > 0:51:09Luisa?
0:51:09 > 0:51:11I think I should be your business partner.
0:51:11 > 0:51:14The business I'm pitching, I know will be profitable.
0:51:14 > 0:51:16Also, as a person,
0:51:16 > 0:51:19I have a lot of business experience
0:51:19 > 0:51:21of starting and running businesses
0:51:21 > 0:51:23and I'd love to have you as my business partner.

0:51:30 > 0:51:32and it's extremely lucrative.
0:51:32 > 0:51:35And also, you're investing in me as a person

0:51:45 > 0:51:48You have an exit plan, don't you?
0:51:48 > 0:51:51Yeah, I would aim to sell nine clinics after year five,
0:51:51 > 0:51:54for a value of approximately eight million -
0:51:54 > 0:51:56that's an extremely conservative estimate.
0:51:56 > 0:51:58Any exit plan for you?
0:51:58 > 0:52:02No, I want to make it big and I want to stay in this industry.
0:52:02 > 0:52:04I want to become a big baking market leader.
0:52:04 > 0:52:09- Well, right now you claim to have three businesses, right?- Yeah.
0:52:09 > 0:52:13What are we going to do about all these other businesses
0:52:13 > 0:52:15if I decide to go into business with you?
0:52:15 > 0:52:19- My shop looks after itself... - How can a business look after itself?!
0:52:19 > 0:52:23I have people that run it, so I look from the high level.

0:52:25 > 0:52:27is taken care of, I'm ready for the..
0:52:27 > 0:52:30I have a problem with all that stuff, I got to tell you.
0:52:30 > 0:52:35Of all the 16 candidates that have come into this process,
0:52:35 > 0:52:37they came here under no illusion
0:52:37 > 0:52:40that they were all going to be entering into a business with me.
0:52:40 > 0:52:42And I, maybe naively, believed
0:52:42 > 0:52:46that they were going to give me their 100% attention.
0:52:46 > 0:52:48I have the utmost respect for you
0:52:48 > 0:52:50and will always have my ears wide open
0:52:50 > 0:52:53to any feedback and critique that you will give me.
0:52:53 > 0:52:56Luisa the person, this is another thing.
0:52:56 > 0:52:57When you came into this process,
0:52:57 > 0:53:00there was hints of game-playing,
0:53:00 > 0:53:02being manipulative, getting your own way.
0:53:02 > 0:53:05My concern is whether you're going to listen.
0:53:05 > 0:53:08I'm wondering whether you've ever really had
0:53:08 > 0:53:10a business partner that has actually got
0:53:10 > 0:53:13as much say in the business as you?
0:53:13 > 0:53:15I think that I have...
0:53:15 > 0:53:18been in this process and when you come into this,
0:53:18 > 0:53:20you are with 16 other people who think they
0:53:20 > 0:53:22are better than you are.
0:53:22 > 0:53:26I definitely believe that I was better than them
0:53:26 > 0:53:27and wasn't shy about putting it across.
0:53:27 > 0:53:30However, I do believe
0:53:30 > 0:53:32that I've learnt such a lot about myself
0:53:32 > 0:53:34and I now know that sometimes it's OK
0:53:34 > 0:53:37to shut your mouth and listen to someone else
0:53:37 > 0:53:40and I feel like I'm, if anyone in this process,
0:53:40 > 0:53:42one of the people that has learnt the most.
0:53:42 > 0:53:44OK. Leah.
0:53:44 > 0:53:47Her business there, I can ask myself,
0:53:47 > 0:53:49"How much trouble can I get in with cupcakes?
0:53:49 > 0:53:52"What can they accuse me of - making people fat?"
0:53:52 > 0:53:55That's about the worst they can do.
0:53:55 > 0:53:58- Yeah.- But your business, I get a little bit concerned.
0:53:58 > 0:53:59Not about you.
0:53:59 > 0:54:01Let me make this perfectly clear.
0:54:01 > 0:54:03I have no problem with you.
0:54:03 > 0:54:05No problem with your morals
0:54:05 > 0:54:08and your abilities and your qualifications
0:54:08 > 0:54:09and all that stuff,
0:54:09 > 0:54:12but I'm in this big world that you haven't been in.
0:54:12 > 0:54:16- Yeah.- I'm afraid it is a bit of a nasty world out there.
0:54:16 > 0:54:19If you can imagine a dartboard,
0:54:19 > 0:54:22and I am the bull'seye,
0:54:22 > 0:54:26and this, this business
0:54:26 > 0:54:29is like as if I'm leaning out there with my chin,
0:54:29 > 0:54:32waiting to get a smack on it, OK?
0:54:32 > 0:54:34I actually think you're completely right.
0:54:34 > 0:54:37If you were going to go into this business with anyone,
0:54:37 > 0:54:38I would say don't do it unless it's me.
0:54:38 > 0:54:40HE LAUGHS
0:54:40 > 0:54:42You need to think, as well, how many pots of edible glitter
0:54:42 > 0:54:45do you need to sell in order to make the same sort of money
0:54:45 > 0:54:46that you'll be making from my business?
0:54:46 > 0:54:48Yeah, that's a very, very fair comment.
0:54:48 > 0:54:51The margins in your business, if it's run properly -
0:54:51 > 0:54:53IF it's run properly -
0:54:53 > 0:54:55are amazing, and the margins in your business
0:54:55 > 0:55:00- are going to be a tough ride.- Yeah. - It's going to be down to volume... - Yeah.- ..It's a simple as that.
0:55:00 > 0:55:02Completely different end of the rainbow,
0:55:02 > 0:55:05- but safer.- Yeah.
0:55:05 > 0:55:07In an earlier boardroom today,

0:55:09 > 0:55:12You disagreed with Lord Sugar quite a lot.
0:55:12 > 0:55:14How stubborn are you?
0:55:14 > 0:55:17I'm normally a very compliant person.
0:55:17 > 0:55:20I know I barely spoke until about task six.

0:55:34 > 0:55:35Well, look, ladies,
0:55:35 > 0:55:38I've heard what you've got to say.
0:55:38 > 0:55:40It's a very, very difficult decision,
0:55:40 > 0:55:43but here's how I see it.
0:55:47 > 0:55:49It's tough, it is very, very tough.
0:55:56 > 0:55:58Leah, you are definitely
0:55:58 > 0:56:01an expert in this field
0:56:01 > 0:56:03and I do trust what you're saying
0:56:03 > 0:56:06as far as morals are concerned.
0:56:08 > 0:56:10But...
0:56:10 > 0:56:11it's...
0:56:11 > 0:56:14a very hard choice I've got to make here. Her business
0:56:14 > 0:56:17is much easier, less risk,
0:56:17 > 0:56:20more in line with what I've done in the past.
0:56:20 > 0:56:24It's selling a product and yours is something completely alien.
0:56:27 > 0:56:30Luisa...
0:56:30 > 0:56:33..I know that you are a business person.
0:56:33 > 0:56:35I'm convinced of that.
0:56:37 > 0:56:41I've observed you over the past 12 weeks.
0:56:41 > 0:56:43I do believe that you have
0:56:43 > 0:56:46changed your ways a little bit.
0:56:46 > 0:56:52I am still concerned whether I'm going to get your 100% attention
0:56:52 > 0:56:55because you've got other businesses.
0:56:57 > 0:56:59But...
0:56:59 > 0:57:01..Leah...
0:57:01 > 0:57:03..it really boils down to
0:57:03 > 0:57:06where am I now, you know?
0:57:06 > 0:57:0966-years-old.
0:57:09 > 0:57:11Do I need another load of aggravation?
0:57:11 > 0:57:14And that's where
0:57:14 > 0:57:16I get a little bit concerned.
0:57:20 > 0:57:22So...
0:57:28 > 0:57:31..on balance, I think I've made my mind up now.
0:57:48 > 0:57:49At the end of the day...
0:57:49 > 0:57:53..a bit of devil in me has got to take the risk.

0:58:49 > 0:58:51To have Lord Sugar show this faith in me
0:58:51 > 0:58:54is absolutely unbelievable. It's amazing.
0:58:54 > 0:58:59I had much less experience than the other candidates in business, coming in to the process

0:59:02 > 0:59:07and that I've actually won it! I can't believe it!
0:59:07 > 0:59:09I'm really going to do everything I can

1:00:59 > 1:01:01And I'm so happy for her.
1:01:01 > 1:01:03You have been known for saying, though,
1:01:03 > 1:01:06- you always get what you want. - I do and I haven't.
1:01:06 > 1:01:08- Lord Sugar.- Is this a moment?

1:01:40 > 1:01:42Where's Luisa? Is she practising?
1:01:42 > 1:01:44No. She's icing cakes.
1:01:45 > 1:01:47Very pink, very female orientated.

1:01:49 > 1:01:51a big section of the market?

1:01:52 > 1:01:54dominated by females.
1:01:54 > 1:01:57I think it needs some more refined thinking as to actually who
1:01:57 > 1:01:58she is targeting this at.
1:01:58 > 1:02:01From the smallest pot of... Sorry.
1:02:01 > 1:02:03I totally lost my way on my cue cards

1:02:11 > 1:02:13I think you came across very well.
1:02:13 > 1:02:16What Luisa did very well was to really impart her
1:02:16 > 1:02:19vision for creating quite a personable business.
1:02:19 > 1:02:23I do believe that I've learnt such a lot about myself and I now know
1:02:23 > 1:02:28sometimes it's OK to shut your mouth and listen to someone else.
1:02:28 > 1:02:31And I feel like I'm, of anyone in this process,
1:02:31 > 1:02:34one of the people that has learnt the most.
1:02:34 > 1:02:35That...
1:02:35 > 1:02:39You know, your tears afterwards, did you think you'd fluffed it?
1:02:39 > 1:02:44I think it's so overwhelming when you go out there and there's
1:02:44 > 1:02:47so much riding on that pitch, ultimately.
1:02:47 > 1:02:50My whole team, we'd been working so hard and, you know,
1:02:50 > 1:02:53I did practise, but the nerves.
1:02:53 > 1:02:56You know, I'm not normally that nervous.
1:02:56 > 1:02:58But the nerves just got the better of me
1:02:58 > 1:03:01and I was so overwhelmed and then my cue cards.
1:03:01 > 1:03:05It was just a release of emotion, I think. And disappointment in myself.
1:03:05 > 1:03:06I was really disappointed.
1:03:06 > 1:03:09I know, but we've all had bad gigs. We've all had tough ones.
1:03:09 > 1:03:12You observed the first rule which is don't cry till you get offstage.
1:03:12 > 1:03:14LAUGHTER
1:03:14 > 1:03:17Many a night I've done the show and I've wept to myself just back there.
1:03:17 > 1:03:21I've just gone, "No, I didn't really get inside who Alex truly was!"
1:03:21 > 1:03:23LAUGHTER
1:03:23 > 1:03:26- Have you done a difficult pitch every so often?- Yes. Many, many.
1:03:26 > 1:03:27Screwed lots up.
1:03:27 > 1:03:30But you only need to get one or two right to make everything work out.
1:03:30 > 1:03:31- Bad gigs?- Absolutely.
1:03:31 > 1:03:35But it was so interesting to see you vulnerable,
1:03:35 > 1:03:38because up until then, you're a bit of a nippy sweetie.
1:03:38 > 1:03:39You know, you just...
1:03:39 > 1:03:41You wouldn't really listen to anybody.
1:03:41 > 1:03:44To see you breaking down like that, you were so, so hard on yourself.
1:03:44 > 1:03:46There was no need to be.
1:03:46 > 1:03:47Because you actually did a really good job.
1:03:47 > 1:03:49Yeah, it could have been better.
1:03:49 > 1:03:51- HUGH:- You didn't lose it on that, anyway, did you?
1:03:51 > 1:03:53What I found interesting about it
1:03:53 > 1:03:56actually, in the end, you lost it because it wasn't risky enough
1:03:56 > 1:03:57and I wondered whether you
1:03:57 > 1:03:59should have made it sound riskier.
1:03:59 > 1:04:01Say that the baking trays were really sharp.
1:04:01 > 1:04:02LAUGHTER
1:04:02 > 1:04:03They'll set you on fire!
1:04:03 > 1:04:05The sprinkles will be radioactive.
1:04:05 > 1:04:07LAUGHTER
1:04:07 > 1:04:09By the way, let's get the business plan clear, though.
1:04:09 > 1:04:11It is a business to business idea
1:04:11 > 1:04:14that you were to buy the entire sweet.
1:04:14 > 1:04:16Like, is it industrial strength?
1:04:16 > 1:04:19- Shall I explain it?- Yes, please. - So...- Really, that works better,
1:04:19 > 1:04:21in terms of it being your business. Go on.
1:04:21 > 1:04:26So, basically, it's a wholesale baking brand.
1:04:26 > 1:04:30So I'd be creating a brand that would be sold into shops,
1:04:30 > 1:04:32online retailers,
1:04:32 > 1:04:34supermarkets and bakeries.
1:04:34 > 1:04:37So, if they needed edible sprinkles,
1:04:37 > 1:04:39they'd buy them from our brand.
1:04:39 > 1:04:41So it's business to business.
1:04:41 > 1:04:43But, you know, when you do a business like that,
1:04:43 > 1:04:45you have to think of your end consumer,
1:04:45 > 1:04:48because your retailer, they might place an order with you, but if
1:04:48 > 1:04:52none of the customers buy it, you're never going to get an order again.
1:04:52 > 1:04:53So, it was a real...
1:04:53 > 1:04:56There was confusion, because I always had to have the end
1:04:56 > 1:04:59consumer in my mind, if the brand wasn't attractive to them.
1:04:59 > 1:05:02Well, the pink that makes more sense in that situation.
1:05:02 > 1:05:04It's one of my favourite quotes, by the way.
1:05:04 > 1:05:07This is the image that was done for you. It's great, lovely.
1:05:07 > 1:05:10- Do you like yourself on that? - I love me.
1:05:10 > 1:05:11LAUGHTER
1:05:11 > 1:05:14- Who bakes here?- I don't bake, but I think it's great branding.
1:05:14 > 1:05:16It's fun, colourful and memorable
1:05:16 > 1:05:19and I think it was very smart putting your face to it, as well.
1:05:19 > 1:05:22You know, some of the biggest brands in the world are built by
1:05:22 > 1:05:24real firebrand entrepreneurs.
1:05:24 > 1:05:27Richard Branson, Oprah Winfrey, Donald Trump.
1:05:27 > 1:05:29You could be the Donald Trump of baking.
1:05:29 > 1:05:31- LAUGHTER - Maybe not, that's a bad idea.
1:05:31 > 1:05:34- You, of course, are the face of the Megabus.- I am.
1:05:34 > 1:05:36LAUGHTER
1:05:36 > 1:05:40Mutually very profitable arrangements, that.
1:05:40 > 1:05:42Did you enjoy the brand? Did you think it was a good brand?
1:05:42 > 1:05:45I thought it was a really good brand. I don't bake myself.
1:05:45 > 1:05:48I mean, I can melt chocolate and throws some Rice Krispies in it,
1:05:48 > 1:05:51but that's as far as it goes. But I thought you were really good on camera.
1:05:51 > 1:05:54When you were selling something that you really believed in.
1:05:54 > 1:05:56You looked fantastic and you sounded really natural
1:05:56 > 1:05:58and not in any way stilted.
1:05:58 > 1:06:00And I think that came over really, really well.
1:06:00 > 1:06:04I think you are the best person to sell you.
1:06:04 > 1:06:06- And you did look fantastic. - Thank you.
1:06:06 > 1:06:09By the way, we're going to get a little bit more positive feedback, I believe.
1:06:09 > 1:06:10Your parents are here.
1:06:10 > 1:06:13- I've been looking. - They are here somewhere.
1:06:13 > 1:06:14Christina and Zo Kalozois.
1:06:14 > 1:06:17- Hello!- Hello to the two of you. How are you?
1:06:17 > 1:06:19This, I presume, is disappointing news,
1:06:19 > 1:06:22- but she's done very, very well. - She's done exceptionally well.
1:06:22 > 1:06:25One of the things that Luisa set out to do was not to ever hear,
1:06:25 > 1:06:29"You're fired," and she hasn't heard that. So, I'm so proud of her.
1:06:29 > 1:06:32She's worked really hard, very, very proud
1:06:32 > 1:06:35and she will still go ahead and be very, very successful
1:06:35 > 1:06:38in whatever venture she goes into. Very proud of her.
1:06:38 > 1:06:40- No-one like your mum, is there? - I know!
1:06:40 > 1:06:41LAUGHTER
1:06:41 > 1:06:44Let's see what your dad... Cos your dad clearly...
1:06:44 > 1:06:46No, you do the talking. I don't want to talk.
1:06:46 > 1:06:48You're good at this. I don't like doing this type of stuff.
1:06:48 > 1:06:51- Hello sir, how are you? - I'm very well.
1:06:51 > 1:06:53And, yes, between mother and daughter,
1:06:53 > 1:06:56I do sometimes manage to get a word in.
1:06:56 > 1:07:00So, on this occasion, I think Luisa's done very well
1:07:00 > 1:07:02and, you know, I love you to bits.
1:07:02 > 1:07:03You're going to go very far.
1:07:03 > 1:07:05- Thank you.- So, well done, darling.
1:07:05 > 1:07:09APPLAUSE
1:07:12 > 1:07:14We've been following you over the last...
1:07:14 > 1:07:18You have been one of the standout characters. For good and bad...
1:07:18 > 1:07:21Look at the face on you now. Wait for me to give idea...
1:07:21 > 1:07:23Give it to me, Dara. Come on!
1:07:23 > 1:07:26I'm just saying, there have been moments where we've been going,
1:07:26 > 1:07:28"Oh, that Luisa..."
1:07:28 > 1:07:31You've given us plenty to talk about over the last few months.
1:07:31 > 1:07:32Let's have a look.
1:07:32 > 1:07:34- LEAH:- I really think I should do the next deal.
1:07:34 > 1:07:36I'm know most about the costs.
1:07:36 > 1:07:37No offence, you're a doctor.
1:07:37 > 1:07:40How dare you? You cannot possibly say that.
1:07:40 > 1:07:43Don't go crazy on corn on the cob. Maybe buy six.
1:07:43 > 1:07:45We're not going to dress the whole store with six cobs.
1:07:45 > 1:07:46Engage brain.
1:07:46 > 1:07:48I can't speak to her any more.
1:07:48 > 1:07:52NICK: Luisa nipped at his heels like a little terrier nipping
1:07:52 > 1:07:54the heels of a bewildered sheep.
1:07:54 > 1:07:57LUISA: Make a decision. Make a decision and stick with it.
1:07:57 > 1:08:01Next week, I'd like to follow Luisa.
1:08:01 > 1:08:03LAUGHTER
1:08:06 > 1:08:08You were very outspoken, though.
1:08:08 > 1:08:12- I am outspoken. I think I'm still outspoken.- Yes.
1:08:12 > 1:08:15I think, also, when you come into this process,
1:08:15 > 1:08:18one of the hardest things for me was the other candidates.
1:08:18 > 1:08:20It was working with other people. When you're so used to...
1:08:20 > 1:08:24I've been self-employed pretty much my whole life
1:08:24 > 1:08:26and I've always carved my own way in life.
1:08:26 > 1:08:30And to then meet people that were like, "Hang on, you're not right.
1:08:30 > 1:08:33"This is the way to I think we should do it." And I'm like, "Hello?
1:08:33 > 1:08:36"I do it my way always. So, back off."
1:08:36 > 1:08:38It was tough. It was really tough.
1:08:38 > 1:08:41But then you learn as you go on to listen to others
1:08:41 > 1:08:44and you gain that respect for the other candidates.
1:08:44 > 1:08:46I think they gain the respect for you.
1:08:46 > 1:08:49And then, you know, as you see, as the process goes on,
1:08:49 > 1:08:51everyone just works a lot smoother together.
1:08:51 > 1:08:53Things work better.
1:08:53 > 1:08:55Did you know that you do that lip curl thing?
1:08:55 > 1:08:57- Did you know you had the little... - No!
1:08:57 > 1:08:59- A little...- I don't do that!
1:08:59 > 1:09:02Elvis. I'm maybe playing it up a bit. But you're like...
1:09:02 > 1:09:04LAUGHTER
1:09:04 > 1:09:05There! That! That!
1:09:05 > 1:09:07LAUGHTER
1:09:07 > 1:09:08And that comment to Leah in week one?
1:09:08 > 1:09:11I just think it's hilarious Leah can now turn around to me and go,
1:09:11 > 1:09:13"No offence, I'm the apprentice."
1:09:13 > 1:09:15LAUGHTER
1:09:15 > 1:09:17Very true. We saw a lot...
1:09:17 > 1:09:21- Lorraine, we saw a lot of strong behaviour from this lady.- We did.
1:09:21 > 1:09:23How could you? Poor wee Jason.
1:09:23 > 1:09:26Goodness me, it was like sort of attacking a puppy dog. You know?
1:09:26 > 1:09:28Giving him a good kicking.
1:09:28 > 1:09:30I could understand that you were, you know, getting really
1:09:30 > 1:09:33frustrated with him, very, very frustrated with him, but you just...
1:09:33 > 1:09:36- Oh, look at that wee face! - Where is he?
1:09:36 > 1:09:37LAUGHTER
1:09:37 > 1:09:39It's adorable. How could you?
1:09:39 > 1:09:42But I think you needed to in the end, didn't you?
1:09:42 > 1:09:44I think so, didn't I...? No, Jason's a lovely...
1:09:44 > 1:09:46Not so vociferously but...
1:09:46 > 1:09:49Jason is actually one of the funniest,
1:09:49 > 1:09:51sweetest people I've ever met
1:09:51 > 1:09:54and I would love to go out for a drink with him,
1:09:54 > 1:09:57I'd be friends with him, but I wouldn't work with him.
1:09:57 > 1:10:00LAUGHTER
1:10:00 > 1:10:04I'm getting the impression of a two-way street...
1:10:04 > 1:10:07Although, I have to say, on the final task,
1:10:07 > 1:10:10my team were amazing and Jason was on my team.
1:10:10 > 1:10:13I wanted to have the opportunity to redeem myself slightly with him
1:10:13 > 1:10:16and show him, you know, I'm not going to be mean to you...
1:10:16 > 1:10:18You didn't really want him, though, did you?
1:10:18 > 1:10:21I didn't... No, I didn't say I didn't want Jason.
1:10:21 > 1:10:22- HUGH:- Well, you sort of did.
1:10:22 > 1:10:24There was a fantastic...
1:10:24 > 1:10:25LAUGHTER
1:10:25 > 1:10:27There was a fantastic moment where Jason says,
1:10:27 > 1:10:30"I'm absolutely delighted and flattered that she has asked me back."
1:10:30 > 1:10:32And all of us were thinking,
1:10:32 > 1:10:34"Well, he won't be once he's seen the episode."
1:10:34 > 1:10:35LAUGHTER
1:10:36 > 1:10:40Did you find Luisa a difficult character to take...
1:10:40 > 1:10:43You know, I think it was fascinating,
1:10:43 > 1:10:45the evolution over the different shows.
1:10:45 > 1:10:47Started quite harsh and then softened
1:10:47 > 1:10:48as it went on and we definitely saw that
1:10:48 > 1:10:51emotional side at the end when you came off stage crying
1:10:51 > 1:10:54and I think the audience definitely warmed more to that.
1:10:54 > 1:10:56We've had a number of firsts in this series.
1:10:56 > 1:10:58The first Welshman, Alex. Jordan offering shares in a company
1:10:58 > 1:11:01he didn't actually own, that was a first.
1:11:01 > 1:11:03But in programme eight we had proper history.
1:11:03 > 1:11:05FANFARE
1:11:10 > 1:11:11- SUGAR:- Why did you give up
1:11:11 > 1:11:13the project manager's position?
1:11:13 > 1:11:15If I was in charge of a sinking ship,
1:11:15 > 1:11:17my first concern would be the women and children...
1:11:17 > 1:11:18LAUGHTER
1:11:18 > 1:11:21The team and the victory were the first and most important thing
1:11:21 > 1:11:25and I think that Luisa does have that commanding voice.
1:11:25 > 1:11:28- NEIL: You can't change a project manager.- No.- LUISA: Yes, you can.
1:11:28 > 1:11:29NEIL: Am I hearing this?
1:11:29 > 1:11:31LUISA: I would like to be project manager.
1:11:31 > 1:11:32I'm in a nest of vipers.
1:11:32 > 1:11:35Everybody here has blood on their lips.
1:11:37 > 1:11:39I took the courageous decision to make sure...
1:11:39 > 1:11:41That's courageous?
1:11:41 > 1:11:43I think that courage comes in many forms.
1:11:43 > 1:11:45NEIL: Jason, I think you've lost it.
1:11:45 > 1:11:48Luisa, you're project manager from here on in.
1:11:48 > 1:11:52Congratulations, because this is the first time
1:11:52 > 1:11:55we've had an abdication of a project manager
1:11:55 > 1:11:58in all the years that I've been in this boardroom.
1:11:58 > 1:11:59Total bloody mess.
1:12:02 > 1:12:04APPLAUSE
1:12:08 > 1:12:12Jason, looking back now, do the wounds still sting?
1:12:12 > 1:12:14- Does it still hurt?- Not at all, no.
1:12:14 > 1:12:17I mean, the moment Luisa called me up and said,
1:12:17 > 1:12:19"I want you to be on my team,"
1:12:19 > 1:12:22even after she'd look through the Yellow Pages and thought,
1:12:22 > 1:12:23"Oh, there! Jason."
1:12:23 > 1:12:27You know, I was 100% behind her.
1:12:27 > 1:12:30No. I think... Bygones, bygones.
1:12:30 > 1:12:33Could you have done it a bit differently?
1:12:33 > 1:12:34Yes, definitely.
1:12:34 > 1:12:39I think I just didn't realise at the time how awful I was to you.
1:12:39 > 1:12:40And I'm really sorry.
1:12:40 > 1:12:44I think, until I saw it back, I just...
1:12:44 > 1:12:48You know, in my nature, I get so frustrated.
1:12:48 > 1:12:50And I do regret treating you like that.
1:12:50 > 1:12:53And I would like to apologise.
1:12:53 > 1:12:56And I've learnt since then, when my mother saw it and she says to me,
1:12:56 > 1:12:58"You never do that, Luisa!"
1:12:58 > 1:13:01You know, "You praise in public and you reprimand in private.
1:13:01 > 1:13:02"That's really bad of you."
1:13:02 > 1:13:06And I was like, "Yeah, it was really bad." And I am really sorry.
1:13:06 > 1:13:08It was disgraceful behaviour.
1:13:08 > 1:13:11Nick was right and I am very sorry.
1:13:11 > 1:13:13APPLAUSE
1:13:18 > 1:13:21Luisa, that's very, very gracious of you.
1:13:21 > 1:13:23Can I offer one small opinion, though?
1:13:23 > 1:13:24He was actually rubbish.
1:13:24 > 1:13:27LAUGHTER AND GROANING
1:13:27 > 1:13:29- You know, that whole... - That is so mean!
1:13:29 > 1:13:30"Can we try it with the purple,
1:13:30 > 1:13:33"maybe slightly less pinky, that purple.
1:13:33 > 1:13:34"And we'll try it different..."
1:13:34 > 1:13:37I think, you know what, it was painful, but there was...
1:13:37 > 1:13:38LAUGHTER
1:13:38 > 1:13:42I still shouldn't... I could have gone about things in a different way.
1:13:42 > 1:13:43- Possibly, yes.- Probably.
1:13:43 > 1:13:46Sometimes difficult decisions have to be taken.
1:13:46 > 1:13:49Absolutely. Business is complicated and you make mistakes
1:13:49 > 1:13:51and I think Luisa has admitted she made a mistake there.
1:13:51 > 1:13:54And Jason was very gracious. And a lot of people assume, as well,
1:13:54 > 1:13:58you have to be a real ball-buster and really nasty to succeed
1:13:58 > 1:14:02in business and Jason is a great example of someone that is nice
1:14:02 > 1:14:05and I think he is going to go on to have a lot of success, as well.
1:14:05 > 1:14:08- HUGH:- But what is fantastic about it, actually, was watching it across
1:14:08 > 1:14:10the 12 weeks, was right at the end,
1:14:10 > 1:14:13your team were absolutely behind you.
1:14:13 > 1:14:15My team were incredible.
1:14:15 > 1:14:18They absolutely loved you. And they would do anything for you
1:14:18 > 1:14:19in that last task. It was great.
1:14:19 > 1:14:21- Thank you.- Says it all.
1:14:21 > 1:14:24You were giving a stirring talking to in programme eight and credit
1:14:24 > 1:14:27where it's due, you were a lot more of a team player from then on.
1:14:27 > 1:14:29This is funky, this is contemporary,
1:14:29 > 1:14:32- it plays exactly to our target market.- It really does.
1:14:32 > 1:14:36I think I am finally beginning to see a serious businesswoman emerge.
1:14:36 > 1:14:37Going for quantity.
1:14:37 > 1:14:39Stack them high, sell it cheap.
1:14:39 > 1:14:42She is a retailer and she's doing well.
1:14:42 > 1:14:44Finally, the girls win.
1:14:44 > 1:14:46She's very streetwise, she is very bright.
1:14:46 > 1:14:49I have no doubt that she will make a success.
1:14:49 > 1:14:51Hi, I'm Luisa Zissman.
1:14:51 > 1:14:53Luisa started out as being actually a bit of a nuisance,
1:14:53 > 1:14:55not getting on with her team-mates
1:14:55 > 1:15:00but here we are at the very end and her team warmed to her.
1:15:00 > 1:15:03Teamwork and smiles, that's what this afternoon has been about.
1:15:03 > 1:15:05It's a piece of cake.
1:15:05 > 1:15:07So, was there one particular moment when you thought,
1:15:07 > 1:15:09"Right, I'm going to have to listen more than I'm talking?"
1:15:09 > 1:15:13I don't think there was, you know, kind of a light bulb moment.
1:15:13 > 1:15:14I think that you just go on
1:15:14 > 1:15:16and we all sort of settled into the process
1:15:16 > 1:15:20and I think I really started to settle and really wanted to
1:15:20 > 1:15:23listen to other people and work with them rather than continuing...
1:15:23 > 1:15:26I mean, it was really tiring the first few weeks and then
1:15:26 > 1:15:28I just thought, "You know what? Just let it go.
1:15:28 > 1:15:30"Just breathe and let it go and go with it."
1:15:30 > 1:15:32And I did and it obviously worked out.
1:15:32 > 1:15:35That retail task, though. That retail task was pretty impressive.
1:15:35 > 1:15:38That task was massively suited to me.
1:15:38 > 1:15:41As Nick said, that's what I do, that's, you know,
1:15:41 > 1:15:45all I've ever known, really, from when I started working for myself.
1:15:45 > 1:15:49I knew that I had to win that. I knew that if we didn't win that task,
1:15:49 > 1:15:53when we lost, I was a goner because I had so much to prove then
1:15:53 > 1:15:56and I really wanted to prove, "You know what, Lord Sugar?
1:15:56 > 1:15:59"This is me. This is what I do and I can really do this."
1:15:59 > 1:16:02- Did your opinion of Luisa change over those few weeks? - Most definitely.
1:16:02 > 1:16:05Absolutely. I started off when I watched you, I thought, "Oh-oh."
1:16:05 > 1:16:08Quite repelled as a viewer but also I wanted to see more of you.
1:16:08 > 1:16:09LAUGHTER
1:16:09 > 1:16:12But I still thought you were fascinating, really interesting.
1:16:12 > 1:16:14Not a woman's woman, I thought,
1:16:14 > 1:16:16but watching you and the friendships that you have got
1:16:16 > 1:16:20with the other candidates and how they all, at the end, banded
1:16:20 > 1:16:22together for you and when you were upset really genuinely
1:16:22 > 1:16:25worried about you and were saying, "No, you did a really good job.
1:16:25 > 1:16:27"You were absolutely fine." So, my opinion has totally changed.
1:16:27 > 1:16:30- I think you're fantastic. - Thank you. That's very kind.
1:16:30 > 1:16:32Yeah, I completely agree
1:16:32 > 1:16:34and I think everyone watching would say the same.
1:16:34 > 1:16:37So do I but I actually quite liked you the whole way through, actually.
1:16:37 > 1:16:39LAUGHTER
1:16:39 > 1:16:42I liked the sort of feistiness of it. It was great.
1:16:42 > 1:16:43Karren Brady is with us.
1:16:43 > 1:16:45It's a pleasure to have you here again, Karren.
1:16:45 > 1:16:48Now, you watched Luisa at close quarters and, as we saw,
1:16:48 > 1:16:50you wanted to follow her specifically in week nine to see
1:16:50 > 1:16:53if there was a businesswoman underneath all that bluster.
1:16:53 > 1:16:56How would you sum up Luisa's Apprentice journey?
1:16:56 > 1:16:59Well, the reason I asked to watch Luisa is
1:16:59 > 1:17:01I hadn't seen her close up and I kept hearing words
1:17:01 > 1:17:06in the boardroom like manipulative, stubborn, big personality
1:17:06 > 1:17:09and I thought, "I'll have a look, see what's behind all that.
1:17:09 > 1:17:10And I'm pleased to say that what
1:17:10 > 1:17:15I did see was a very capable, very strong businesswoman
1:17:15 > 1:17:18and somebody, actually, who works on their intuition,
1:17:18 > 1:17:21who really understands certain parts of business
1:17:21 > 1:17:24and I think, Luisa, you're going to go on to be really successful.
1:17:24 > 1:17:25Thank you.
1:17:25 > 1:17:27APPLAUSE
1:17:30 > 1:17:31I love Karren.
1:17:34 > 1:17:35You have also said, by the way,
1:17:35 > 1:17:39you are delighted that Lord Sugar's business partner would be a woman.
1:17:39 > 1:17:42Now, this mustn't have seemed very likely by week three
1:17:42 > 1:17:44when the woman's team were tearing themselves apart.
1:17:44 > 1:17:48I was getting a bit worried after the first few tasks
1:17:48 > 1:17:52but I think you could see in the two final candidates that they
1:17:52 > 1:17:55were both really articulate, really bright,
1:17:55 > 1:17:59had fantastic business plans, understood the market
1:17:59 > 1:18:02they were going in and really conveyed themselves as very
1:18:02 > 1:18:05investable people and I was really proud
1:18:05 > 1:18:08and pleased to see them both do so very well indeed.
1:18:08 > 1:18:10Very, very good. Now, Karren, as ever, we have enjoyed
1:18:10 > 1:18:13watching you watching them. Here are your highlights.
1:18:13 > 1:18:17It's going to be a very, very long night. It's mayhem.
1:18:17 > 1:18:20I've never seen anything like it. Urgh!
1:18:22 > 1:18:24It takes everyone's input to make one thing happen.
1:18:24 > 1:18:27Do you believe what you're saying? Can you hear it?
1:18:27 > 1:18:29- Can you hear what you're saying? - I thought it was just me.
1:18:29 > 1:18:32Have you guys made a decision?
1:18:32 > 1:18:33Who sold the most stock?
1:18:33 > 1:18:35But it's not a competition. We're a team.
1:18:35 > 1:18:36I've had a whole day of this.
1:18:36 > 1:18:38LAUGHTER
1:18:40 > 1:18:43A bit of a problem between you two?
1:18:43 > 1:18:44You know what women are like.
1:18:44 > 1:18:45Excuse me?
1:18:45 > 1:18:49I am a strong, sexually liberated and high-powered woman.
1:18:49 > 1:18:52- Don't scare the kids.- Morning.
1:18:52 > 1:18:53They really loved your pitch.
1:18:55 > 1:18:57And they really liked you guys.
1:18:58 > 1:19:00But they hated the product.
1:19:05 > 1:19:08Ladies and gentlemen, Karren Brady.
1:19:14 > 1:19:15Now, Lorraine, Hugh and I
1:19:15 > 1:19:18have been choosing some of our favourite moments from this series.
1:19:18 > 1:19:20Now, Lorraine, I know that you and I can't get enough
1:19:20 > 1:19:22of this particular gem.
1:19:22 > 1:19:25How not to help your team-mate during a difficult pitch.
1:19:25 > 1:19:27We are really passionate about what we have created.
1:19:27 > 1:19:29REPEATED SNAPPING NOISE
1:19:29 > 1:19:31We're here. We're so happy to show you what we've got.
1:19:31 > 1:19:33SNAPPING CONTINUES
1:19:33 > 1:19:36And the industry itself, it really does seem to have gone through
1:19:36 > 1:19:38a bit of a revolution over the last few years.
1:19:38 > 1:19:40It's... SNAPPING CONTINUES
1:19:40 > 1:19:42Excuse the noise in the background.
1:19:42 > 1:19:45He is just preparing, by the way, for you, something nice to eat.
1:19:45 > 1:19:50Sorry. I think this has been part of fuelling the market.
1:19:50 > 1:19:53- The microwave is not on. - Press the big button at the bottom.
1:19:53 > 1:19:55- See if that works. - This is the start, is it?- Yeah.
1:19:55 > 1:19:56MICROWAVE WHIRS NOISILY
1:19:56 > 1:19:58We also looked at vegetarians...
1:19:58 > 1:19:59SPEECH DROWNED OUT
1:19:59 > 1:20:01BEEPING
1:20:01 > 1:20:03LAUGHTER
1:20:11 > 1:20:15The normally unflappable Myles been taken apart there.
1:20:15 > 1:20:17Nobody could have done that pitch with all that going on.
1:20:17 > 1:20:18It was hilarious.
1:20:18 > 1:20:21And "popty ping" - I think it's the only Welsh word I know
1:20:21 > 1:20:23- but it's genius for microwaves, isn't it?- Yes.
1:20:23 > 1:20:26But he should have gone, Alex should have gone with his original idea.
1:20:26 > 1:20:27We all think he should have.
1:20:27 > 1:20:30But there's no way, with all that going on in the background,
1:20:30 > 1:20:32nobody, nobody could have done that.
1:20:32 > 1:20:34And we love it because we had a big chat about it at the time.
1:20:34 > 1:20:36He popped and popped... You do it, like, once, twice.
1:20:36 > 1:20:40I thought, "How many is he putting in?"
1:20:40 > 1:20:44I am going to show this cellophane lid. I am going to make this...
1:20:44 > 1:20:49And he couldn't work it! It's genius. Absolute genius. I loved it.
1:20:49 > 1:20:51Did you have a particular favourite?
1:20:51 > 1:20:55I love the Dubai episode - looking for the falcon hood.
1:20:55 > 1:20:58That I found tremendous.
1:20:58 > 1:21:01Hugh is a fan of the quintessential Englishman abroad as Jason
1:21:01 > 1:21:03tried to communicate with the natives.
1:21:05 > 1:21:09You put a hat on it so it does not see.
1:21:09 > 1:21:12Like an eagle. A big bird.
1:21:12 > 1:21:15You put it on your arm and it flies away. And it hunts.
1:21:15 > 1:21:17Don't worry. Don't worry.
1:21:18 > 1:21:20APPLAUSE
1:21:25 > 1:21:29Four days after that, I found myself walking around the house going,
1:21:29 > 1:21:34"It's like an eagle. It hunts. It hunts." But it's just the idea.
1:21:34 > 1:21:38It just idea that a very posh shopping mall, you know,
1:21:38 > 1:21:43like Brent Cross, essentially, would sell a hood for a falcon
1:21:43 > 1:21:46and how anybody thought that would be just the...
1:21:46 > 1:21:50You know, like their version of JD Sports would sell...
1:21:50 > 1:21:54You want Falcons 'R' Us.
1:21:54 > 1:21:57There is a huge branch of that around the corner.
1:21:59 > 1:22:02Now, Jordan was stopped in his tracks last week but at the start
1:22:02 > 1:22:06of this process he was full of energy and excitement.
1:22:06 > 1:22:09Let's look at some of the numbers here.
1:22:09 > 1:22:12- KARREN:- Your total is 1,167.90.
1:22:13 > 1:22:15LOUD THUD
1:22:15 > 1:22:16JORDAN: Get in!
1:22:17 > 1:22:20NICK: £1,147.
1:22:20 > 1:22:23LOUD THUDS
1:22:23 > 1:22:24Get in!
1:22:24 > 1:22:27LOUD THUDS
1:22:27 > 1:22:29- LORD SUGAR:- And for the girls?
1:22:29 > 1:22:30- KARREN:- They hated the product.
1:22:30 > 1:22:32CARTOON PUNCH
1:22:32 > 1:22:33LAUGHTER
1:22:33 > 1:22:34LOUD THUDS
1:22:37 > 1:22:39- LORD SUGAR:- Nick, how about Evolve?
1:22:39 > 1:22:41NICK: A profit of 631.52.
1:22:41 > 1:22:42LOUD CRUNCH
1:22:42 > 1:22:44LOUD THUD
1:22:44 > 1:22:45Come on!
1:22:45 > 1:22:48LAUGHTER
1:22:48 > 1:22:49Come on!
1:22:50 > 1:22:53Can I just remind you this is not a football match?
1:22:53 > 1:22:56- Sorry, Lord Sugar. I am pleased to win.- Right.
1:23:03 > 1:23:05OK. Let's have a word with someone who has been watching
1:23:05 > 1:23:08The Apprentice candidates particularly closely
1:23:08 > 1:23:12for nine years now - Lord Sugar's aide Nick Hewer. Nick, how are you?
1:23:12 > 1:23:15- I am very well. Very well. - How many is it now? It must be...
1:23:15 > 1:23:21Well, since episode one, over 100. We have handled over 100.
1:23:21 > 1:23:23And what have you made of this year's crop?
1:23:23 > 1:23:28Well, do you know, I think they were the best, most clear-cut group?
1:23:28 > 1:23:31It has been, I think, probably the best series ever.
1:23:31 > 1:23:34They are bright, intel... Look at the two finalists - brilliant.
1:23:34 > 1:23:36Brilliant young couple.
1:23:36 > 1:23:39And I know that we all have a good laugh during the series
1:23:39 > 1:23:43but, actually, could any of us do it at their age?
1:23:43 > 1:23:44I certainly couldn't have done.
1:23:44 > 1:23:47So don't let's think they're mugs because they're not.
1:23:47 > 1:23:50Now, there are some perks to The Apprentice for you, Nick.
1:23:50 > 1:23:55We have seen you often tucking into a tasty morsel or two during
1:23:55 > 1:23:58the tasks but this year it was a new product that caught your eye.
1:23:58 > 1:23:59NICK: That's all right.
1:23:59 > 1:24:02That's quite a nice, actually. Beep-beep!
1:24:02 > 1:24:04LAUGHTER
1:24:04 > 1:24:05Beep-beep!
1:24:05 > 1:24:07I quite like the idea of these things.
1:24:09 > 1:24:12MUSIC: "Ace Of Spades" by Motorhead
1:24:12 > 1:24:14ENGINE REVVING
1:24:20 > 1:24:22Ladies and gentlemen, Nick Hewer.
1:24:28 > 1:24:30Congratulations on being this year's runner-up.
1:24:30 > 1:24:32It's huge to even have got that far.
1:24:32 > 1:24:36I know it must be irritating to have come so close but nonetheless
1:24:36 > 1:24:39we can't let you leave empty-handed so we want to give you a gift.
1:24:39 > 1:24:41I mean, we had a number of choices to do.
1:24:41 > 1:24:44One of the things, obviously, is because of your small part
1:24:44 > 1:24:46in history that we felt that you should have some
1:24:46 > 1:24:50permanent record of it but we thought we'd make it nice and pink.
1:24:50 > 1:24:52So this is... Excuse me. This is the abdication.
1:24:52 > 1:24:56We have replaced your picture with the picture of the cartoon you.
1:24:56 > 1:25:00That was our first plan, that it would be a sweet thing to do.
1:25:00 > 1:25:04But also, we really thought what we should do is give you
1:25:04 > 1:25:05the cupcake queen.
1:25:05 > 1:25:08So that is the largest cupcake we could find to give
1:25:08 > 1:25:13you as a congratulations. That's for you. 12 fantastic weeks, Luisa.
1:25:13 > 1:25:14Here are your highlights.
1:25:16 > 1:25:19I am not one for being a quiet, little flower in the corner.
1:25:19 > 1:25:21Hello, everybody. Hello!
1:25:26 > 1:25:27Ready, steady, go!
1:25:27 > 1:25:31We have got some really funky leggings.
1:25:31 > 1:25:32Really determined.
1:25:32 > 1:25:33Like a dog with a bone.
1:25:33 > 1:25:36I know you're on the job but we've got berets for a fiver.
1:25:36 > 1:25:39I'm going to pretend to be your mum.
1:25:39 > 1:25:41Oh, you're so cute.
1:25:41 > 1:25:43I'm just generally a cool person to be around.
1:25:43 > 1:25:44I am full of love.
1:25:44 > 1:25:46She is really warm, she's bubbly.
1:25:46 > 1:25:48She probably is my favourite candidate.
1:25:48 > 1:25:50You can't go through life not having fun.
1:25:50 > 1:25:51SHE SQUEALS
1:25:51 > 1:25:53Laters, loser!
1:25:53 > 1:25:55SHE SCREAMS
1:25:58 > 1:26:00Bye, everyone.
1:26:00 > 1:26:02I like being happy. It's good.
1:26:03 > 1:26:06Ladies and gentlemen, Luisa Zissman.
1:26:06 > 1:26:07CHEERING
1:26:19 > 1:26:20And so to our winner.
1:26:20 > 1:26:23This is the moment we discovered who was going to the Lord Sugar's
1:26:23 > 1:26:24new business partner.
1:26:28 > 1:26:31Leah, you're going to be my business partner.
1:26:34 > 1:26:36Oh. Oh, my God. Thank you.
1:26:38 > 1:26:39Ladies and gentlemen,
1:26:39 > 1:26:43please welcome the winner of The Apprentice 2013, Leah Totton.
1:26:43 > 1:26:45CHEERING
1:27:00 > 1:27:02Dr Leah, congratulations.
1:27:02 > 1:27:05May I first say how voluminous your hair is looking?
1:27:05 > 1:27:07More than any of the other candidates.
1:27:07 > 1:27:08At the end of programme 11,
1:27:08 > 1:27:10you said you couldn't believe you'd be in the final.
1:27:10 > 1:27:13- Can you believe that you have won it?- I can't. I really...
1:27:13 > 1:27:16It hasn't sunk in at all. I can't believe it.
1:27:16 > 1:27:18I never expected, entering the process,
1:27:18 > 1:27:21that I would be the one who won and I still don't.
1:27:21 > 1:27:23I still don't believe it. I'm completely in shock.
1:27:23 > 1:27:27Let's meet your new business partner. Please welcome Lord Sugar.
1:27:27 > 1:27:28CHEERING
1:27:45 > 1:27:48It's a pleasure to have you here. You are very happy with this result?
1:27:48 > 1:27:52- Before you start, let's get this over with.- All right, go on.
1:27:52 > 1:27:53Go on, then, you'd best hurry up.
1:27:53 > 1:27:57"Are you going to be the first one to have a treatment on your face?"
1:27:57 > 1:28:01- I was never presuming that you... - Beauty and the beast. Come on.
1:28:01 > 1:28:05Like I am ever going to judge you on physical appearance.
1:28:05 > 1:28:09Look, you've got a finer head of hair than I've had about 12 years.
1:28:09 > 1:28:11Well, I've been thinking of that. Leah.
1:28:11 > 1:28:18This. This. From other parts and then we'll shape it and, yeah.
1:28:18 > 1:28:19I don't think we should...
1:28:19 > 1:28:22We're not really the people at the forefront of this technology.
1:28:22 > 1:28:23Not really, no.
1:28:23 > 1:28:24I'm going to go in looking like me
1:28:24 > 1:28:26and coming out looking like Justin Bieber.
1:28:26 > 1:28:28LAUGHTER
1:28:28 > 1:28:30People expect miracles, you know.
1:28:30 > 1:28:32People are expecting miracles in this situation.
1:28:32 > 1:28:34Why did you choose Leah?
1:28:35 > 1:28:37I think it's...
1:28:37 > 1:28:43We had two great candidates in the final, in the last two.
1:28:43 > 1:28:48I think that in the case of Luisa, for example,
1:28:48 > 1:28:52she has got these three businesses already.
1:28:52 > 1:28:54The business that she was proposing to me
1:28:54 > 1:28:58is very much what she is already doing
1:28:58 > 1:29:01and I didn't feel guilty in any way or form
1:29:01 > 1:29:06in choosing Leah over Luisa because I don't have to worry about, really.
1:29:06 > 1:29:07She is going to do OK.
1:29:07 > 1:29:12As far as Leah is concerned, she is a very determined young lady
1:29:12 > 1:29:15and this is an interesting industry.
1:29:15 > 1:29:20One which the business margins are very good
1:29:20 > 1:29:25and I think that she was the most interesting candidate
1:29:25 > 1:29:28as far as I was concerned and had the most interesting
1:29:28 > 1:29:31business proposition. So it's quite exciting.
1:29:31 > 1:29:34OK, well, let's see what took you past the winning post tonight.
1:29:34 > 1:29:37The name, first of all. When did the name come out.
1:29:37 > 1:29:39"Skin" backwards with the K the wrong way round,
1:29:39 > 1:29:42a face in the middle.
1:29:42 > 1:29:46Is this not beautiful to you? It's beautiful to me. I think that's good.
1:29:46 > 1:29:48- Do you? - Imagine that on a billboard.
1:29:50 > 1:29:52- It sounds like a knife. - That wasn't a brilliant comment.
1:29:52 > 1:29:55Shaving cuts, nicks of the skin.
1:29:55 > 1:29:57- Did you feed that back? - Yes.
1:29:57 > 1:30:00- May be go with NIKS. - Yeah.
1:30:02 > 1:30:07NIKS Medical. We will be focusing on only three key treatments.
1:30:07 > 1:30:11I don't understand why you're restricting your offering to
1:30:11 > 1:30:12such basic treatments.
1:30:12 > 1:30:14I disagree with that lady.
1:30:14 > 1:30:18You've been disagreeing with the industry leaders all night long.
1:30:18 > 1:30:21I can assure you they are the most popular treatments of the minute.
1:30:21 > 1:30:23We all know that market is expanding hugely.
1:30:23 > 1:30:26It's only going to go one way.
1:30:26 > 1:30:29She's shown she can take a gift that she has
1:30:29 > 1:30:31and use that to create a business.
1:30:31 > 1:30:33In your business, I'd get a little bit concerned.
1:30:33 > 1:30:36You're investing in me as a person and I genuinely think I'm
1:30:36 > 1:30:40a dependable, trustworthy person to invest in.
1:30:40 > 1:30:43I think together we will be absolutely dynamic.
1:30:43 > 1:30:45APPLAUSE
1:30:50 > 1:30:53Let's address a number of issues. NIKS, right?
1:30:53 > 1:30:55Nick's is the name of a pool hall.
1:30:55 > 1:31:01Nick's is the name of a bar in Casablanca where all
1:31:01 > 1:31:06the clashes occur. Nick is the name of the doctor in The Simpsons.
1:31:07 > 1:31:11There's a crazy doctor. Did you not notice any of these?
1:31:11 > 1:31:14At the time, I was thinking of it more visually.
1:31:14 > 1:31:16I had the strap line, turning back time on your skin.
1:31:16 > 1:31:21I think it worked really well as an actual image. But I take on board.
1:31:21 > 1:31:23This is... I'm sorry.
1:31:23 > 1:31:25We should find a smaller version of this
1:31:25 > 1:31:29because it looks slightly undignified. Yes.
1:31:30 > 1:31:33I take it we're not keeping the name NIKS?
1:31:33 > 1:31:35No.
1:31:36 > 1:31:38Do you have a name in mind?
1:31:38 > 1:31:42We do. The name is what I suggested and that is Dr Leah.
1:31:42 > 1:31:44Were you saying that I don't like the name at all?
1:31:44 > 1:31:46I've had a change of heart.
1:31:46 > 1:31:47LAUGHTER AND APPLAUSE
1:31:55 > 1:31:58But you're quite focused on making it clinical,
1:31:58 > 1:32:00making it clean looking.
1:32:00 > 1:32:03Yeah. I think it should reflect my personality.
1:32:03 > 1:32:07I'm passionate about making sure that clinical excellence is
1:32:07 > 1:32:09the ethos of our entire brand.
1:32:09 > 1:32:11I want these treatments done in a clinical environment
1:32:11 > 1:32:15by trained doctors. I think that should be reflected in the brand.
1:32:15 > 1:32:17I've been strong on that.
1:32:17 > 1:32:20I think we're in agreement, anyway, that it will be a very clean cut,
1:32:20 > 1:32:22bring medical brand.
1:32:22 > 1:32:24We'll come to our panel in a second.
1:32:24 > 1:32:27There are certain issues, moral and ethical to raise.
1:32:27 > 1:32:30This is not something anyone should be able to set up on the high street?
1:32:30 > 1:32:35No, completely not. I see my role in this industry as a medical influence in this industry.
1:32:35 > 1:32:37I feel it's what the industry needs.
1:32:37 > 1:32:40I'm really trying to bring regulation to this industry
1:32:40 > 1:32:44and these treatments which, in my opinion are medical treatments,
1:32:44 > 1:32:49are carried out in a clinical environment by properly-trained health care practitioners.
1:32:49 > 1:32:54And is also an issue now... Some people would say it takes money to train a doctor.
1:32:54 > 1:32:56We may feel we're owed a few more years of you in the NHS
1:32:56 > 1:32:58before you go private.
1:32:58 > 1:33:01At this stage, how to address the criticism that you're leaving
1:33:01 > 1:33:04- that service to early evening? - Yeah.
1:33:04 > 1:33:07I would have taken a career break anyway to pursue academia
1:33:07 > 1:33:09and continue the research I'm involved in.
1:33:09 > 1:33:12I've by no means left the NHS.
1:33:12 > 1:33:15I'm continuing research whilst I'm away from actual day-to-day
1:33:15 > 1:33:18NHS practice with the hope of returning to the NHS. I'm so young.
1:33:18 > 1:33:22I've got 40 years to give to the NHS.
1:33:22 > 1:33:26I spent seven years training to become a clinician.
1:33:27 > 1:33:31I've no intention of leaving clinical practice.
1:33:31 > 1:33:33OK, let's turn it over to yourselves.
1:33:33 > 1:33:35Generally about how this all came about.
1:33:35 > 1:33:38Lorraine, this kind of industry's huge and growing.
1:33:38 > 1:33:40It is huge and growing and I do have a bit of a problem with it.
1:33:40 > 1:33:44I'm really glad that it looks like it's going to be regulated.
1:33:44 > 1:33:47I know you are qualified. I wonder what it was.
1:33:47 > 1:33:50Was it the money that made you interested in this particular area?
1:33:50 > 1:33:53Not at all. Obviously, I'm a young woman. I'm interested in appearance.
1:33:53 > 1:33:56I'm interested in how I look. I'm the first to admit that.
1:33:58 > 1:34:01It saddened me and it worried me, Lorraine, to see that these procedures
1:34:01 > 1:34:03that some people I know,
1:34:03 > 1:34:07friends' mums even, were having these procedures done by people
1:34:07 > 1:34:10who are not, in my opinion, adequately trained.
1:34:10 > 1:34:14There is a real need for medical influence in this environment.
1:34:14 > 1:34:16It's good to hear that.
1:34:16 > 1:34:19I've interviewed a lot of women who have had botched treatments
1:34:19 > 1:34:21and they look terrible.
1:34:21 > 1:34:23It causes devastation to them.
1:34:23 > 1:34:24Completely.
1:34:24 > 1:34:26We need to be clear that I'm not going into this to encourage women
1:34:26 > 1:34:29to have these procedures. The fact is the demand is there.
1:34:29 > 1:34:31What we are about is providing a clinical,
1:34:31 > 1:34:36safe environment for women to have these treatments, should they so desire.
1:34:36 > 1:34:37It's a different form of due diligence for you.
1:34:37 > 1:34:40It's not just checking the fundamentals of business
1:34:40 > 1:34:41but actually there is a philosophical element to it
1:34:41 > 1:34:44that you create an evidence basis, as people say medicine now
1:34:44 > 1:34:47that this stuff is done as correctly as possible.
1:34:47 > 1:34:51I think the thing is regulation and we welcome regulation.
1:34:52 > 1:34:56I've been in various industries over the years, which were
1:34:56 > 1:35:02unregulated and when I was a younger person, I was annoyed when
1:35:02 > 1:35:05Government and departments started to poke their nose into
1:35:05 > 1:35:11and regulate them. But when I look back, I realise that they've done...
1:35:11 > 1:35:13It was the correct thing to do.
1:35:13 > 1:35:14This industry needs to be regulated.
1:35:14 > 1:35:19It clearly needs to be regulated for the points that Lorraine has raised.
1:35:19 > 1:35:24There is absolutely no way that the service that Dr Leah is going
1:35:24 > 1:35:31to provide will in any way be dangerous or immoral or whatever.
1:35:31 > 1:35:34It would be done correctly.
1:35:34 > 1:35:37I believe that it will be controlled and all the rest of it.
1:35:37 > 1:35:40There were two moments at which I thought you were particularly impressive.
1:35:40 > 1:35:44One, when you are told that the name NIKS really wasn't working,
1:35:44 > 1:35:47at which point you decided, at that moment,
1:35:47 > 1:35:50you would change it to NIKS medical.
1:35:50 > 1:35:52Which unfortunately does sound like an American cop show,
1:35:52 > 1:35:57where they find lots of dead bodies everywhere.
1:35:57 > 1:35:58But that's by the by.
1:35:58 > 1:36:04The other point was when Lord Sugar said I am 66 and well done for resisting,
1:36:04 > 1:36:05"I take ten years off you."
1:36:08 > 1:36:12- Mark, were you impressed? - I was. It was a very impressive final episode.
1:36:12 > 1:36:15The presentation was incredibly confident.
1:36:15 > 1:36:17I love the way whenever anyone pushes you and challenges you,
1:36:17 > 1:36:22you're straight back at them. You need that confidence in business.
1:36:22 > 1:36:27Yeah. Thumbs up. I admired the very professional way you're tackling this.
1:36:27 > 1:36:28This area. This business.
1:36:28 > 1:36:30On the whole, you've been cool
1:36:30 > 1:36:33and calm and collected. You've radiated that kind of authority.
1:36:33 > 1:36:36But the pressure at some points tonight did start to show.
1:36:37 > 1:36:39I think I've been much more harsh on the team
1:36:39 > 1:36:41than in previous tasks.
1:36:41 > 1:36:43That doesn't fit the rest of the decor.
1:36:43 > 1:36:46We don't need to discuss it any further. That is what we are doing.
1:36:46 > 1:36:49Leah is definitely on a rampage now. Trying to make sure things get done.
1:36:49 > 1:36:50Can you get one this very minute?
1:36:50 > 1:36:54Definitely feeling the pressure of the moment. Just needs to calm down.
1:36:54 > 1:36:55We'll it sort out.
1:36:55 > 1:36:57Relax. Look happy.
1:36:57 > 1:37:00I do feel... I'm 24 . I never done anything like this in the past.
1:37:00 > 1:37:04I don't have time to discuss it. Just start. Ready. Clear shot.
1:37:04 > 1:37:07At times I have been quite short with him.
1:37:07 > 1:37:09There needs to be something on the screen.
1:37:09 > 1:37:12Can someone who is creative please find an ending that is strong?
1:37:13 > 1:37:14My name is Dr Leah Totton.
1:37:14 > 1:37:17My favourite name for this business is up to Leah.
1:37:17 > 1:37:20I don't like that.
1:37:20 > 1:37:22LAUGHTER
1:37:22 > 1:37:23Change your name!
1:37:26 > 1:37:29APPLAUSE
1:37:34 > 1:37:35You have a clear vision.
1:37:35 > 1:37:38When you have a clear vision, you really just let it out
1:37:38 > 1:37:42and you don't care. It's strong, it's proud, it's L-O-U-D.
1:37:45 > 1:37:48Poor old Alex and his potpourri!
1:37:48 > 1:37:52I know! The pressure, honestly. You're in that situation.
1:37:52 > 1:37:56You've got so little time. The pressure is phenomenal. You want it so much.
1:37:56 > 1:38:00You've tried so hard. And his thing of potpourri in the reception room.
1:38:00 > 1:38:03You're like, "No!"
1:38:03 > 1:38:07What was the thing? You got very upset you said half my head is coming through the door?
1:38:07 > 1:38:08What was that about?
1:38:08 > 1:38:13We were trying to put together all the shots. I'm by no means an editor.
1:38:13 > 1:38:16The man who was editing kept putting my head coming through the shot.
1:38:16 > 1:38:20It looked like an alien. It was intimidating for the audience.
1:38:20 > 1:38:23It was over the shoulder of the patient. It wasn't right.
1:38:24 > 1:38:28Was it just that every so often you were peering like that?
1:38:28 > 1:38:31LAUGHTER DROWNS SPEECH
1:38:31 > 1:38:35I was over the shoulder. My head was coming into the shot.
1:38:35 > 1:38:40That would be fantastic. Later, just coming down from above.
1:38:40 > 1:38:42Popping up everywhere.
1:38:42 > 1:38:45My face was just everywhere.
1:38:45 > 1:38:49Were you impressed by the fact that this has to happen I want this done now?
1:38:49 > 1:38:51These people are under a lot of pressure.
1:38:51 > 1:38:53They are under a tremendous amount of pressure.
1:38:53 > 1:38:56Leah under pressure in the boardroom,
1:38:56 > 1:39:01she came back very very quickly and responded very very well
1:39:01 > 1:39:04when I critiqued anything she had to do.
1:39:04 > 1:39:10Sometimes, quite fast, I felt like I had to press the rewind button
1:39:10 > 1:39:15and slow it down. A bit like you. You know how you talk very fast.
1:39:16 > 1:39:18I don't know if it's an Irish trait.
1:39:18 > 1:39:22Have you ever worked with a woman from Derry before?
1:39:22 > 1:39:23Er, no.
1:39:24 > 1:39:27Oh, good luck with this!
1:39:27 > 1:39:30A famously fierce brand of woman. They are fantastic. They are great.
1:39:30 > 1:39:33When you were in the final boardroom on the ready meal task,
1:39:33 > 1:39:36Lord Sugar commented that you'd said more in ten minutes than
1:39:36 > 1:39:38you had said in the previous nine weeks.
1:39:38 > 1:39:42Last week, we saw you in full flow for a different reason.
1:39:45 > 1:39:47My rent will be £30,000 a year for a receptionist to begin with
1:39:47 > 1:39:51paying her £16,000 a year. The cost will be under £2,000 a year,
1:39:51 > 1:39:53which includes everything, bar electricity.
1:39:53 > 1:39:54I'll have a cleaner for 8,000.
1:39:54 > 1:39:58To tell you the truth, I'll do that myself, if need be.
1:39:58 > 1:40:00LAUGHTER DROWNS SPEECH
1:40:00 > 1:40:02Someone who will probably a nurse practitioner,
1:40:02 > 1:40:04trained in aesthetic medicine, to come in as a clinical manager.
1:40:04 > 1:40:05After two-month shadowing period, which will be
1:40:05 > 1:40:08the end of my four-month period, I will then leave the clinic.
1:40:08 > 1:40:10You will also have doctors who are trained in aesthetic medicine
1:40:10 > 1:40:14or nurses to do one five-hour clinic per week.
1:40:14 > 1:40:17You speak very quickly, don't you? You're a fast talker.
1:40:17 > 1:40:19I've got so much I need to explain.
1:40:19 > 1:40:22I'm the combination of business flair with a medical...
1:40:22 > 1:40:24LAUGHTER DROWNS SPEECH
1:40:24 > 1:40:26APPLAUSE
1:40:34 > 1:40:35Erm.
1:40:35 > 1:40:39I would strongly suggest she wouldn't be an air traffic controller.
1:40:40 > 1:40:43She would be spectacularly bad as a speaking clock.
1:40:45 > 1:40:49Your parents are in the audience tonight. Lorraine and Trevor.
1:40:49 > 1:40:54Hello, how are you? You didn't know until you saw it here.
1:40:54 > 1:40:55What's your reaction?
1:40:55 > 1:41:00My goodness! I'm really still shocked. Absolutely.
1:41:00 > 1:41:05The pressure has been awful for us parents as well.
1:41:05 > 1:41:09She has done brilliant. We are so proud. Absolutely delighted.
1:41:09 > 1:41:12I do know that you will give 100% to Lord Sugar.
1:41:13 > 1:41:14And Dad. Proud?
1:41:14 > 1:41:19Same as the wife was saying. She's been fantastic from day one.
1:41:19 > 1:41:23She'll make it. It'll be successful, believe me.
1:41:23 > 1:41:25What does your mum do?
1:41:25 > 1:41:29Your mum looks about five years older than you. Excellent genes!
1:41:29 > 1:41:32Very good. Your dad, bless him.
1:41:33 > 1:41:34Sorry!
1:41:34 > 1:41:37LAUGHTER DROWNS SPEECH
1:41:37 > 1:41:39Lord Sugar, you'd like to talk about some of the other candidates,
1:41:39 > 1:41:42particularly those in the final five. Shall we begin with Jordan?
1:41:42 > 1:41:43Yeah.
1:41:46 > 1:41:50To get in the final five of this process is no mean task.
1:41:51 > 1:41:56Jordan is a highly-intelligent person. I think he...
1:41:56 > 1:42:03He held the record for not being in the losing team too many times?
1:42:03 > 1:42:05Seven out of ten wins.
1:42:05 > 1:42:09That's quite high. Also, he got the respect from the other candidates.
1:42:09 > 1:42:12That's something I noticed throughout the course of the process.
1:42:12 > 1:42:15When the other candidates are happy to have
1:42:15 > 1:42:17someone like Jordan on their team.
1:42:18 > 1:42:24It's unfortunate that the business plan didn't work.
1:42:24 > 1:42:25As far as I was concerned,
1:42:25 > 1:42:29his interpretation of the equity share was something which
1:42:29 > 1:42:33I could never ever agree to. Never in 1 million years agree to.
1:42:33 > 1:42:38Unfortunately, Jordan gave me nowhere to go. It's a simple as that.
1:42:38 > 1:42:42I know he's going to do well in the future. As will some of the others.
1:42:42 > 1:42:45Moving to Francesca.
1:42:45 > 1:42:49She will be scaling up her dance studios, exercise studios.
1:42:49 > 1:42:54My only problem with Francesca was the scaling-up issue.
1:42:54 > 1:42:55I might be wrong.
1:42:55 > 1:43:00I think I said that when I let Francesca go because we ended up
1:43:00 > 1:43:05with three ladies left there, to the delight of Karren.
1:43:09 > 1:43:11I said I think I might be making a mistake here.
1:43:11 > 1:43:15Maybe I misunderstood the dance and the zumba-wumba stuff,
1:43:15 > 1:43:20whatever it is. And the popularity of it. I don't know.
1:43:20 > 1:43:23My wife Jenny gave me a good slapping last week, saying to me,
1:43:23 > 1:43:30you idiot, it is quite a popular thing these days.
1:43:30 > 1:43:33I'm not always right.
1:43:33 > 1:43:38Once I thought I was wrong but I was mistaken.
1:43:40 > 1:43:43And maybe on this occasion I was mistaken also.
1:43:43 > 1:43:46I think if she can scale up her business,
1:43:46 > 1:43:51and popularise it in the correct way, it could be successful.
1:43:51 > 1:43:54Hello, Francesca. Good to see you.
1:43:54 > 1:43:58May I compliment you on your dancing in the show tonight.
1:43:58 > 1:43:59As well as that,
1:43:59 > 1:44:01you have other businesses as well as this, don't you?
1:44:01 > 1:44:04What are the other businesses that you have?
1:44:04 > 1:44:06I have a lookalikes agency and a dance agency.
1:44:06 > 1:44:12And the lookalikes agency features on its books, this man, who look's...
1:44:16 > 1:44:18Like George Clooney.
1:44:18 > 1:44:20Who works both Alan sugar and George Clooney,
1:44:20 > 1:44:23depending on what your party needs at any given time.
1:44:23 > 1:44:26Are you impressed with that?
1:44:26 > 1:44:29She charges less for me than Branson.
1:44:30 > 1:44:33- Have you seen the Branson? - No, I don't want to see it.
1:44:33 > 1:44:37You've got to see the Branson. Let's have a look. There's the Branson.
1:44:37 > 1:44:42- He does full length and everything. - The other bloke wasn't worth much more than him, surely?
1:44:42 > 1:44:44Why are you having a go at yourself at 300 quid...?
1:44:44 > 1:44:47He looks much...
1:44:47 > 1:44:49Of course we come then to Neil.
1:44:49 > 1:44:52Neil was the subject of some regret for you.
1:44:52 > 1:44:56Cloughie, who was an exceptional candidate.
1:44:56 > 1:45:00Sadly, the business plan is not a fully formed plan
1:45:00 > 1:45:01in any way at all.
1:45:07 > 1:45:10This is disappointing. This is disappointing.
1:45:10 > 1:45:13I'm sorry for you, Alan, cos I know you're genuinely disappointed.
1:45:13 > 1:45:17He spent 10 weeks being very determined.
1:45:17 > 1:45:22This is disheartening for me. I am shocked.
1:45:22 > 1:45:26I tell you, I am totally, absolutely shocked.
1:45:26 > 1:45:28No, no.
1:45:28 > 1:45:29No.
1:45:29 > 1:45:30No.
1:45:32 > 1:45:36I don't get it, it doesn't make sense. It's sickening.
1:45:36 > 1:45:41- I'm asking for the opportunity to do it.- No, Neil, my friend, I'm sorry.
1:45:41 > 1:45:43The right man, but the wrong plan.
1:45:43 > 1:45:47APPLAUSE
1:45:55 > 1:46:01Apart from leaping across the table and getting him around the neck,
1:46:01 > 1:46:05and strangling him, he would not budge from his position.
1:46:05 > 1:46:08And I don't know whether that's something he's going to pick up
1:46:08 > 1:46:12and learn because there couldn't have been a stronger message
1:46:12 > 1:46:14that what he was proposing that did not work.
1:46:14 > 1:46:16And it was kind of like saying,
1:46:16 > 1:46:20"Come on, give me something that does work."
1:46:20 > 1:46:24But, nevertheless, he stuck to his guns and he left me nowhere to go.
1:46:24 > 1:46:27- Lorraine, out of the final five, who impressed you?- Oh, I loved Neil.
1:46:27 > 1:46:30I thought Neil was fantastic and I was shouting at the television
1:46:30 > 1:46:33and just saying, "Just change, get a plan from somewhere.
1:46:33 > 1:46:36"It doesn't matter, just pluck one from the air."
1:46:36 > 1:46:39When he did that motivational speech, it was so from the heart
1:46:39 > 1:46:42and often times a lot of the candidates were often talking
1:46:42 > 1:46:45a bit of gobbledygook. And that really was from the heart.
1:46:45 > 1:46:48And that's when I thought this was a really good guy you wanted to watch.
1:46:48 > 1:46:51It was a shame he fell at the final hurdle, but I totally agree
1:46:51 > 1:46:55with Lord Sugar that whatever he does he's going to be a massive success.
1:46:55 > 1:46:59OK, you've enjoyed some moments from the series as well.
1:46:59 > 1:47:02Who could forget this magical moment in task three?
1:47:07 > 1:47:10- I take it, gentlemen, this is yours. - Yes, Lord Sugar.
1:47:10 > 1:47:12That converts into a table.
1:47:12 > 1:47:15Alex, this is one of the best products that I've
1:47:15 > 1:47:18seen in all the years at being in this boardroom. Very good indeed.
1:47:18 > 1:47:20Thank you, Lord Sugar.
1:47:31 > 1:47:35The chair sits proud over our studio. Alan, an excellent product.
1:47:35 > 1:47:37- Simple idea. - I'm telling you,
1:47:37 > 1:47:41you do not understand the pressure people are under in this thing.
1:47:41 > 1:47:45In two or three days, to come up with a conceptual idea
1:47:45 > 1:47:50as he did there is an engineering feat, because, of course,
1:47:50 > 1:47:55it's not something that could be marketed in a mass production basis.
1:47:55 > 1:47:58But something like that would be the seed of an idea
1:47:58 > 1:48:02and then you would enhance it a bit by changing some of the design
1:48:02 > 1:48:05to get it perfect. But to do it in the period of time he did it,
1:48:05 > 1:48:09- I was absolutely impressed. - Michael, you are a product man.
1:48:09 > 1:48:12- You were impressed with that. - Yes, creating products is tough.
1:48:12 > 1:48:15As Lord Sugar said, the time it took to put that together
1:48:15 > 1:48:17and produce such a great product.
1:48:17 > 1:48:20But also having the mechanical mind also
1:48:20 > 1:48:24in the way that it collapsed down and the way it folded.
1:48:24 > 1:48:27That is no mean task, I can assure you.
1:48:27 > 1:48:31- Making sure fingers don't get chopped off.- Things like that. No mean task.
1:48:31 > 1:48:33That is a great product.
1:48:33 > 1:48:37- Better than that...- Let's not... It's not worth bringing up.
1:48:37 > 1:48:39No, but you will.
1:48:39 > 1:48:42In a universe of balance, you must have yin and yang.
1:48:42 > 1:48:47For everything that is great, there is the Tidy-Sidey.
1:48:47 > 1:48:51Let's just enjoy the nadir of design.
1:48:51 > 1:48:53That doesn't look good.
1:48:53 > 1:48:57Tidy-Sidey? Wishy-washy, poxy-boxy.
1:48:57 > 1:48:59Did you disagree that the design makes it?
1:48:59 > 1:49:00Yes, it does, it looks lovely.
1:49:00 > 1:49:03The designs on the side make it look like a garden planter.
1:49:03 > 1:49:07- Isn't it just a box on wheels? - It got to look nice in a room.
1:49:07 > 1:49:08Part of the house you can't see maybe.
1:49:08 > 1:49:11You are in a time warp if that's what you call keeping up to date.
1:49:11 > 1:49:12I did not design that.
1:49:12 > 1:49:16What you did say was the product had to be glueless.
1:49:16 > 1:49:18Glueless? More like bloody clueless.
1:49:26 > 1:49:29Were you sitting in the room with the box
1:49:29 > 1:49:33and then you saw his neatly folding innovative chair/table idea
1:49:33 > 1:49:36and you went, "We've got a box on wheels"?
1:49:36 > 1:49:40Yes, I mean, we all looked at it when it first arrived
1:49:40 > 1:49:44and I think everyone suddenly thought it wasn't the strongest.
1:49:44 > 1:49:48But we just tried to be positive. You've got that, you got to sell it.
1:49:48 > 1:49:51- Did you sell some of them? - Yes, I sold 100,
1:49:51 > 1:49:53Fran sold some as well.
1:49:53 > 1:49:56So, you know, with the right people behind it,
1:49:56 > 1:50:00we managed to shift a few, but it was by no means a great product.
1:50:00 > 1:50:04And Alex's invention with the chair really put us to shame.
1:50:04 > 1:50:09It has the advantage, a box on wheels, that you can throw it away much more easily.
1:50:09 > 1:50:15Take it straight down to the bin. And recycle it.
1:50:15 > 1:50:19- No place for it in your home?- No, it looks even worse in real life.
1:50:19 > 1:50:23I think the television gave it a glow, but when you see it,
1:50:23 > 1:50:25good grief, that is just a box.
1:50:25 > 1:50:27Actually, it's not in a shadowy area.
1:50:27 > 1:50:30If you put it anywhere, light won't go there.
1:50:31 > 1:50:33Yes, Alex's invention was fantastic.
1:50:33 > 1:50:36It's not the only innovation he's had.
1:50:36 > 1:50:40He's made a bid in this process for taking on an Apprentice legend.
1:50:48 > 1:50:50My eyebrows are perfection.
1:50:58 > 1:51:01Now, we have two...
1:51:01 > 1:51:04LAUGHTER AND APPLAUSE
1:51:08 > 1:51:11We have two previous winners of The Apprentice in our audience tonight,
1:51:11 > 1:51:15Tom Pellereau and Ricky Martin, both running companies with you at the moment.
1:51:15 > 1:51:17We heard from Ricky a couple of weeks ago.
1:51:17 > 1:51:20- Tom, how is it going for you? - Good evening, Dara.
1:51:20 > 1:51:24In the last year, I've launched three new products of the Stylfile range.
1:51:24 > 1:51:25The bestselling range.
1:51:25 > 1:51:27A Trim Without The Ping nail clipper.
1:51:27 > 1:51:31The world's first curved foot file and exfoliator.
1:51:31 > 1:51:35And most recently, to go with the launch...birth of my child, baby,
1:51:35 > 1:51:40the Nipper Clipper, which has this little safety spy hole
1:51:40 > 1:51:42so you can see exactly what you are seeing there
1:51:42 > 1:51:46so there's no chance of clipping the baby's finger by mistake.
1:51:46 > 1:51:48I can't believe it, I now have seven products
1:51:48 > 1:51:52in over 3,000 of the biggest retailers in this country.
1:51:52 > 1:51:57When I walk into Sainsbury's, I go, "That's my business with Lord Sugar."
1:51:57 > 1:51:59- It's been amazing. - That's really sweet.
1:51:59 > 1:52:02When you see your child, you go, "I launched that as well."
1:52:02 > 1:52:05LAUGHTER AND APPLAUSE
1:52:13 > 1:52:15They've both done very well,
1:52:15 > 1:52:19- they're employing half a dozen people each.- It's a win-win situation.
1:52:19 > 1:52:23What we have here is my years of experience in business
1:52:23 > 1:52:29keeping them focused on the numbers and on the business itself
1:52:29 > 1:52:32and letting them get on with they're good at doing.
1:52:32 > 1:52:36So what they're good at doing, in the case of Tom, is coming up with
1:52:36 > 1:52:40products, getting them made and he's done exceptionally well,
1:52:40 > 1:52:43breaking into all these major retailers.
1:52:43 > 1:52:46Ricky on the other hand, his business is completely different.
1:52:46 > 1:52:50It's not a product, it's a service he provides to a very specialised industry.
1:52:50 > 1:52:55The pharmaceutical industry, recruiting people to the pharmaceutical industry.
1:52:55 > 1:53:01Now, fortunately, it's turning a profit. So very, very good stuff.
1:53:01 > 1:53:03I get a lot of pleasure out of this.
1:53:03 > 1:53:05The size of these businesses is small
1:53:05 > 1:53:08in the overall scheme of things, OK?
1:53:08 > 1:53:11But so many of the youngsters have grown up
1:53:11 > 1:53:16in the past 10 or 15 years thinking they're all Zuckerbergs
1:53:16 > 1:53:19or Klonkenbergs or whatever their bloody name is.
1:53:19 > 1:53:22And they're going to go shooting straight up there.
1:53:22 > 1:53:25There's a need for people to understand that you start from scratch.
1:53:25 > 1:53:29Are you not slightly worried with the name that Nipper Clipper
1:53:29 > 1:53:31sounds like a man going, "Are you a child?" "Yes."
1:53:31 > 1:53:34LAUGHTER
1:53:34 > 1:53:36Yes, thank you very much, Tom Pellereau.
1:53:36 > 1:53:39APPLAUSE
1:53:43 > 1:53:46Leah, you have won the quarter of a million pounds.
1:53:46 > 1:53:48That is obviously as great a prize as any
1:53:48 > 1:53:51and there's nothing we could do that could usurp that.
1:53:51 > 1:53:55So some quiet corner of your first office, we would like to give you
1:53:55 > 1:53:59something that wouldn't look out of place in a doctor's office.
1:53:59 > 1:54:03We have done for you, for the first time, a scroll
1:54:03 > 1:54:05that you can quietly put up there.
1:54:05 > 1:54:09It is marked from the Lord Sugar School of Entrepreneurial Medicine.
1:54:09 > 1:54:14This is to formally certify that Dr Leah Totton, MBBS,
1:54:14 > 1:54:18has qualified as the winner of The Apprentice 2013,
1:54:18 > 1:54:20and is qualified to own 50% of this business.
1:54:20 > 1:54:22Point people to this thing.

1:54:26 > 1:54:28and leggings, almost selling a caravan.

1:55:23 > 1:55:25And really kind.

1:55:56 > 1:55:59First, I want to take you back to the briefing for task three.
1:55:59 > 1:56:01We know the candidates all look up to you
1:56:01 > 1:56:04but this was probably taking things too far.
1:56:34 > 1:56:36- Good evening. Good evening. - Good evening, Lord Sugar.
1:56:39 > 1:56:40Yes, as ever, Lord Sugar,

1:56:51 > 1:56:54Good looking, good design, what was the other thing?
1:56:54 > 1:56:56PHONE RINGS
1:56:56 > 1:56:58Comedy, yes, yes.
1:57:00 > 1:57:04Look, this is like a microwave meal, it is getting a bit heated,

1:57:20 > 1:57:22It was plain deception, Lord Sugar.
