:00:25. > :00:31.: You're Fired Dara O'Briain ROM # Romesh I wouldn't be that upset if

:00:32. > :00:38.you died. I'd be sad biI'd rally prettyicly. If you bought these,

:00:39. > :00:48.you'd not only waste your money but damage your eyes. You are's hanging

:00:49. > :01:02.out to continue. If you are say so. I'm not trying to to be respectful.

:01:03. > :01:07.I'm trying to win. It's magical. He's a magnificent predator. I feel

:01:08. > :01:11.like we're missing something, sir. If you have given money, none of the

:01:12. > :01:20.world's problems is your fault. It's as simple as that!

:01:21. > :01:22.CHEERING AND APPLAUSE

:01:23. > :01:27.Coming up tonight, we're joined by legend Brian Conley -

:01:28. > :01:28.one of our greatest all-round entertainers.

:01:29. > :01:31.He's going to fill us in on his new series -

:01:32. > :01:34.Wee Susan Calman squares up to giant Richard Osman

:01:35. > :01:36.when she goes behind the scenes at Pointless.

:01:37. > :01:40.And tonight is the series finale of the magnificent Happy Valley.

:01:41. > :01:43.And Robert Emms, who plays farm boy Daryl, is here

:01:44. > :01:50.to give us the inside scoop on the drama everyone's talking about.

:01:51. > :01:57.CBBC have redesigned their logo after nine years of the old green

:01:58. > :02:08.and black one, which has caused a little controversy online.

:02:09. > :02:14.I really like it. I like the colours. We don't like change, do

:02:15. > :02:24.we? The kids will love that. who plays glamorous knicker-stitcher

:02:25. > :02:30.Eva, has apparently renewed her contract with the soap in a deal

:02:31. > :02:33.which will see her on the cobbles And she's reportedly being paid

:02:34. > :02:37.?100,000 a year - so loads of money! But not compared to

:02:38. > :02:39.some Corrie veterans - Bill Roache?

:02:40. > :02:41.?250,000 by all accounts. And Jack Dee has quit his presenting

:02:42. > :02:46.job on 'The Apprentice: You're Fired'

:02:47. > :02:50.spin-off show, He hosted last series after

:02:51. > :02:55.taking over from Dara O'Briain who had been in the chair

:02:56. > :03:01.since 2010. Could regular panellist Romesh

:03:02. > :03:08.Ranganathan step into his shoes? I love the fact that Jack fired

:03:09. > :03:12.himself from the show. Right, I can't wait any longer,

:03:13. > :03:16.it's time to talk Happy Valley. It's T-Minus two hours

:03:17. > :03:23.until the series finale. Robert Emms, who plays unhinged

:03:24. > :03:26.farm boy Daryl is here to tell us every little detail

:03:27. > :03:42.about tonight's biggest show. Do you remember, Neil, we were at

:03:43. > :03:46.school together? I found the body. I left threatening messages. I had a

:03:47. > :03:51.motive. We are looking at a serial offender. Walking away isn't going

:03:52. > :03:57.to make it go away. BAFTA award-winning drama. You don't talk

:03:58. > :04:01.about me, dad. Never goes away, does it? He'll never go away. I cannot

:04:02. > :04:17.wait. I was a huge fan of the first

:04:18. > :04:22.series. I watched it twice. Basically I've nothing else to do! I

:04:23. > :04:27.loved it so much. I was so pleased to be doing this one. There's two

:04:28. > :04:32.plot lines in the show. Killer Tommy Lee rows trying to get revenge on

:04:33. > :04:36.Sarah Lancashire's character. And a string of murders in the village.

:04:37. > :04:44.Last week, you confessed to all these murders? Apparently so. Yeah.

:04:45. > :04:50.At the end of the episode, it doesn't seem as if these things

:04:51. > :04:53.happen. Apparently so. Yeah, all is revealed this evening in this final

:04:54. > :04:57.episode. All the strands come together. Everything become clear.

:04:58. > :05:02.The red herrings are no longer red herrings. Things are real. We hope

:05:03. > :05:06.all will be revealed in the last five minutes. That's why we booked

:05:07. > :05:16.you for the show. You came to a sticky end last week? Eh!

:05:17. > :05:22.Potentially. I love his face. Allot of tomato ketchup. The window needs

:05:23. > :05:29.a good clean. Not sure with what? Aldi ketchup? Do you know what

:05:30. > :05:33.happens in the end? When I got the script thes? Yeah. Do you know

:05:34. > :05:41.what's going to happen tonight? I can't remember. It was such a long

:05:42. > :05:47.time ago. When I first read the scripts, I got to episode five. Got

:05:48. > :05:52.episode six late. Will you be watching tonight? Definitely, can't

:05:53. > :05:58.wait. Typical actor. Wouldn't watch if he's not in it. He's not giving

:05:59. > :06:02.anything away. There are loads and loads of murder suspects. It is like

:06:03. > :06:09.Scooby Doo. Could it be policeman John? We know he's murdered someone?

:06:10. > :06:14.Yeah... He's mmm. What do you mean, mmm? A potential candidate. Bad boy

:06:15. > :06:20.Tommy Lee rows. Can't be him. He's been in prison. Amazing character.

:06:21. > :06:26.Great character. He's become immortalised. What about teaching

:06:27. > :06:29.assistant Francis? She's bonkers. So scary. If she was my teaching

:06:30. > :06:33.assistant at school I would be terrified of going to school. I

:06:34. > :06:36.thought you were going to say wife. That's going to put people off going

:06:37. > :06:41.to school. The BBC should not be showing that. Up and down the

:06:42. > :06:45.country saying that, I'm not going to school if the teaching

:06:46. > :06:49.assistant's like her. It could be Neil? He comes up a lot. He's

:06:50. > :06:59.another one. Not sure. OK. Interesting. Interesting. Isn't it

:07:00. > :07:02.just. What's it been like you playing this dark character? Do you

:07:03. > :07:08.leave it at work or does that sort of character stay with you? It

:07:09. > :07:14.wasn't acting at all. I'm getting that impression. Normally, I think

:07:15. > :07:21.when the material is quite dark or especially like this, it's usually

:07:22. > :07:25.those are the moments Where offset, off camera, you want to laugh and

:07:26. > :07:30.have lots of fun and muck around. Generally, that's what I do. Susan

:07:31. > :07:36.Lynch who plays my mum, she's amazing. Sally Wainwright wanted

:07:37. > :07:41.Susan to cry, be really emotional. She did three takes no cutting. The

:07:42. > :07:46.relationship between you two has been amazing. Thanks, that's great.

:07:47. > :07:50.We work hard at the bar in the hotel to get that right! We love Sarah

:07:51. > :07:56.Lancashire. What a brilliant actress. Can you give us any secrets

:07:57. > :08:03.about her? What does she eat in her sandwiches? Sarah was staying in an

:08:04. > :08:08.apartment closer to the set. We were in a beautiful hotel nearby. Sarah's

:08:09. > :08:14.really fun. Her performance is so real. She doesn't take things too

:08:15. > :08:18.seriously. Bucks around. You've worked alongside her in this show.

:08:19. > :08:22.Does she do anything differently when you're acting with her? Always

:08:23. > :08:27.very different but not uncomfortably so. Not like, God, what's she doing

:08:28. > :08:31.now, it's all very different. You don't get bored acting with her.

:08:32. > :08:35.There are lots of surprises. You're kept on your toes. You've given

:08:36. > :08:37.nothing away. We have a little clip for you to enjoy from tonight's

:08:38. > :08:42.final. I want Key talk, get involved with

:08:43. > :09:19.it. I need you to be aware. That look. The music's so so eerie.

:09:20. > :09:26.The music's incredible. Inundated with offers? I have to keep my phone

:09:27. > :09:32.with me all the time! I have a show coming out called The Living And The

:09:33. > :09:37.Dead, a BBC One show some time the end of March. A Victorian ghost

:09:38. > :09:44.story. It follows a farmer and his wife going back to his family home

:09:45. > :09:49.and Colin Morgan plays the farmer. Charlotte Spencer plays the

:09:50. > :09:55.farmstrress. Is that even a word? It is now. What about a third series of

:09:56. > :10:01.Happy Valley? I hope so. It would be amazing. It's so brilliant. How long

:10:02. > :10:05.to go before tonight's? Two hours 20 minutes and four seconds now. He

:10:06. > :10:10.can't wait. Tonight I'll turn my phone off, give the kids to anyone

:10:11. > :10:15.who'll have them. . Sellopating my eyes wide open for the finalaway of

:10:16. > :10:19.Happy Valley. Let's hear it for Robert Emms.

:10:20. > :10:24.Now, Susan Calman has been doing a great job finding out what goes

:10:25. > :10:27.on behind the scenes at some of our best loved TV shows.

:10:28. > :10:28.Today, she's visiting Alexander Armstrong and Richard Osman

:10:29. > :10:39.to see if she can discover the most Pointless thing about Pointless.

:10:40. > :10:46.Today, I'm in Borehamwood to visit the studio of one of the most

:10:47. > :10:53.popular quiz shows on TV ever. I'm on a mission to find the most

:10:54. > :10:59.Pointless thing about Pointless. It has been on our screen since August

:11:00. > :11:04.2009. This is pointless where the biggest scorers are the biggest

:11:05. > :11:08.winners. They are soon to film their 1,000th episode. This is Paul, the

:11:09. > :11:13.floor manager. He's explaining the contestants. Where the mark is. When

:11:14. > :11:17.the first and second player goes forward. What happens on the show

:11:18. > :11:24.when they start recording. How many times have you done that briefing?

:11:25. > :11:28.200 or 300 times. How many episodes do you record in one day? Four.

:11:29. > :11:34.Quite a mission but we've got it down to a tee. The mostp pointless

:11:35. > :11:41.thing about Pointless? It is the trophy. It's tiny. Literally a

:11:42. > :11:46.pointless trophy. This is the nerve centre of the Pointless studio.

:11:47. > :11:51.We've people checking the answers, the producers, directors. Matt,

:11:52. > :11:57.Hello. You have one of the most exciting jobs in television. You

:11:58. > :12:06.control the pointless tower. I do. Can I press the button? I'll reset

:12:07. > :12:17.the column. You select that there. There it goes!

:12:18. > :12:27.I've heard a rumour Zandra and Richard are hanging out in dressing

:12:28. > :12:36.room four? Hello. Hey, Susan Calman. How are you? Susan. How are you?

:12:37. > :12:41.Hunks of men. I'm much higher. You are tiny. It is genuinely one of my

:12:42. > :12:46.favourite shows. I've changed the way I watch things. I now watch the

:12:47. > :12:51.credits of films in case it comes up on inp pointless. If there he's the

:12:52. > :12:56.opening ceremony of the Olympics, look at the countries. Find the most

:12:57. > :13:00.obscure one. I tell myself that on the podium. As Richard goes through

:13:01. > :13:07.the pointless answers, remember that. Do I ever? Never to this day.

:13:08. > :13:11.I have a pointles quiz about the show. Which is your favourite

:13:12. > :13:16.podium? Two, it's tucked away at the back. Best one to be on? Four. I

:13:17. > :13:22.think one. You get less time to think. I don't need time to think.

:13:23. > :13:29.That tells you all you need to know about the difference between us.

:13:30. > :13:34.What's the best contestant's name? Moira, Stuart. Do you think you

:13:35. > :13:44.could swap jobs? I don't think we could. I'm a side kick! What is the

:13:45. > :13:51.most pointles thing about pointless. We tried to get a catchphrase going.

:13:52. > :13:57."That ain't bread, that's toast! And we crack it open every now and

:13:58. > :14:04.again. Why didn't that work out? That ain't bread... That's toast.

:14:05. > :14:11.We're in the marquee set up. How did you get on the show? We applied with

:14:12. > :14:17.granny. Have you found out anything pointles about pointless? The

:14:18. > :14:20.chandelier is pretty pointless. Maybe it's for Strictly Come

:14:21. > :14:27.Dancing. That's what it looks like on your telly and that's what it

:14:28. > :14:32.looks like over there. They look a bit nervous. All jangling up and

:14:33. > :14:39.down. Quick, quick, Gary Gavin. Now you're on the set. Bit nervous? Yes.

:14:40. > :14:47.Fingers crossed for you. OK. Ready to go.

:14:48. > :14:54.A warm welcome to pointst, the show where obvious answers mean nothing

:14:55. > :15:00.and obscure answers mean everything. Ladies and gentlemen, the most

:15:01. > :15:05.pointles thing about pointless is the pointless trophy. It's tiny.

:15:06. > :15:13.I'll keep it, not like anyone was going to win it today, is it? How

:15:14. > :15:22.How does she manage to get backstage everywhere?

:15:23. > :15:29.Brian Conley has been in the TV business for over 30 years

:15:30. > :15:32.and is one of Britain's best loved faces on the box.

:15:33. > :15:35.Acting, singing, comedy, presenting - you name it, he's nailed it.

:15:36. > :15:47.# For once in my life, I've someone who needs me

:15:48. > :15:56.# Someone I've needed so longs # Come on, I'm only kidding. No hard

:15:57. > :16:06.feelings. Give me a high five! Bang, bang, it's a puppet! Good evening. I

:16:07. > :16:09.am septic Meg! Beautiful song I had the privilege of singing with

:16:10. > :16:21.Shirley Bassey. She was on the radio, I was on the toilet!

:16:22. > :16:25.# I'm as naked as Richard # Harold Bishop was loving that.

:16:26. > :16:35.Please welcome the brilliant Brian Conley.

:16:36. > :16:44.Over 0 years you have been on our TV. I nearly didn't make it. When I

:16:45. > :16:50.was first on, someone said "Get off you fat git "Quop you don't expect

:16:51. > :16:56.that at the school nativity. I was four years' old. How did your career

:16:57. > :17:03.start? I used to do the TV warm-ups. I used to do it for Kenny Everitt

:17:04. > :17:09.and Wogan and Noel Edmonds but very much the Kenny Everitt show. I did

:17:10. > :17:14.it for all the time he was at the BBC. I was his warm-up. Comedian.

:17:15. > :17:20.From then I got used to being in a TV studio. It is daunting place,

:17:21. > :17:25.quite clinical. Especially in the variety era, you are looking to work

:17:26. > :17:30.with the crowd where you have to look down the lens. I learned a lot

:17:31. > :17:36.from Kenny. He was amazing. We do actually have a clip of one of your

:17:37. > :17:47.first-ever TV performances. It is like This Is Your Life. In 1977. :

:17:48. > :17:55.It is a BBC drama called Survivors. This was when you were 13. Welcome

:17:56. > :18:01.in peace. Your guns. You being funny m' Lord. . Question questioned

:18:02. > :18:07.whether that was you. You had more lines than that. I had a few more. I

:18:08. > :18:11.got attacked and had to run away. I did go to stage school and I learned

:18:12. > :18:15.to build stages! Hey. I'm buzzing. You have done so many

:18:16. > :18:22.shows over the years. Hundreds of shows. Do you have favourites?

:18:23. > :18:28.Obviously the Brian Connolly Show because it started off with

:18:29. > :18:35.Dangerous Brian and Nick Fris by and Septic Peg. I enjoyed the chat show

:18:36. > :18:38.and I enjoyed doing the Grimleys. But I think I will always be

:18:39. > :18:43.remembered for the puppet and wherever I go. Even true, when my

:18:44. > :18:50.daughter was born and it popped out and this little blob was there and

:18:51. > :18:57.they were trying to get the air in and I'm anxious and worried and I go

:18:58. > :19:02.- is it all right? And the nurse went "It's the puppet." Oh, no. Did

:19:03. > :19:06.that really happen? I swear on their life. It happened. I actually

:19:07. > :19:11.appeared on your show many years ago. 2001. We did the sumo

:19:12. > :19:15.wrestling. I loved every second of this. There I am, look. Look at

:19:16. > :19:26.that. Bang, straight on my face. A face plant. Being part of your shows

:19:27. > :19:32.was so much fun. I loved it. I'm pleased you were a part and you were

:19:33. > :19:37.a guest. Did I beat you? I let you. What happened to Larry the Loafer?

:19:38. > :19:44.He is in my office. He is stuffed. Somewhere safe? Well and truly safe.

:19:45. > :19:49.Do you watch a lot of Saturday night TV? I watch a bit. I'm currently on

:19:50. > :19:54.tour at the moment but when I get home, I love Takeaway. I think they

:19:55. > :20:03.do the most incredible job, and the and deck. That show is life. I love

:20:04. > :20:10.Strictly as well. -- Ant and Dec. Light entertainment has changed over

:20:11. > :20:15.the years. I think it has had to. What And and Dec are doing and even

:20:16. > :20:22.Strictly, it is a light entertainment. You are back on BBC

:20:23. > :20:30.with the second series, I love this show, The TV That Made Me. What is

:20:31. > :20:36.this called? This is Too Much TV. I have a new series of that. I have

:20:37. > :20:39.enjoyed that. We have had 20 guests and they talk about the shows that

:20:40. > :20:45.influence them and the shows they watch growing up. It is like Desert

:20:46. > :20:52.Island Disks. We have a clip from this Friday's he Dodd with Joe

:20:53. > :20:55.Swash. He is reminiscing about a '90s' morning show the scoot big

:20:56. > :20:59.Breakfast. There is nothing like that at the moment. I don't anything

:21:00. > :21:02.replaced it with a high energy morning show. Do you remember at the

:21:03. > :21:07.end of the series when they stopped it they did a competition where you

:21:08. > :21:15.could win the house. I thought - what an amazing present? House, Joe.

:21:16. > :21:21.Not hooos sne, That sounds disgusting. House. You win that

:21:22. > :21:28.lovely home! Great stuff. I love him. There is a

:21:29. > :21:35.real chemistry there. I enjoyed working with him.

:21:36. > :21:38.Don't forget you can catch The TV That Made Me,

:21:39. > :21:45.Everyone has a guilty pleasure that they like to watch on TV.

:21:46. > :21:55.How They Make Things? You know that on Discovery? We talked about that

:21:56. > :22:01.the other day. There we go. Well, what are the shows that

:22:02. > :22:17.you maybe don't like to admit My TV guilty pleasure? I don't think

:22:18. > :22:23.I have one. All reality shows. I'm obsessed. Celebrity Big Brother. X

:22:24. > :22:28.Factor. I watch every episode of all of them. I think all the stuff I

:22:29. > :22:31.watch is cool. Neighbours. I particularly like Neighbours,

:22:32. > :22:36.because as soon as I get in from work, I have my lunch, switch on the

:22:37. > :22:41.TV and there is Neighbours. Storage Hunters. I make my children watch it

:22:42. > :22:45.with me. It is about finding treasure, albeit rubbish. My stuff

:22:46. > :22:53.is koo. You couldn't make me feel guilty about what I watch. . C

:22:54. > :22:58.beebies? Wall-to-wall. I process to dislake it but really I can sit and

:22:59. > :23:03.watch Fireman Sam on back-to-back episodes, I love it. Geordie Shore.

:23:04. > :23:08.I'm made to watch Hollyoaks from time to time. I thought I wasn't

:23:09. > :23:12.going to watch it, I thought - this is awful, how can people do this?

:23:13. > :23:17.Then I ended up doing it. The X Factor. Yeah. I don't like watching

:23:18. > :23:26.it but I find myself always watching it. We just had twins my girlfriend

:23:27. > :23:30.and I so we are watching a lot of the Kardashians in the house because

:23:31. > :23:34.it is very good kind of wallpaper TV. Take Me Out, Saturday night.

:23:35. > :23:36.Paddy McGuinness and all those ladies and the men with their

:23:37. > :23:41.antics. Judge Judy. Emma and I never miss

:23:42. > :23:44.Say Yes To The Dress on TLC. It's now time for the biggest

:23:45. > :23:46.decision of the day. First up, over on

:23:47. > :24:04.Channel 4 at 8 o'clock we've got Obsessive

:24:05. > :24:07.Compulsive Cleaners. This is like How Clean is Your

:24:08. > :24:15.House, but without Kim and Aggie. What you see here are people

:24:16. > :24:17.who are obsessed with keeping their homes clean
