:00:00. > :00:10.Millions of you watched Casualty on Saturday,
:00:11. > :00:13.where there was a dramatic hostage situation
:00:14. > :00:27.It's one of Britains best shows and today we're joined
:00:28. > :00:30.by one of its stars, Hannah Spearritt.
:00:31. > :00:34.Coming up tonight, after ten became eight on Saturday,
:00:35. > :00:37.Louise Hazel takes a look backstage at The Voice and sees
:00:38. > :00:40.what chaos lies behind that cool facade.
:00:41. > :00:46.We've got a special musical tribute to the TV trailblazer
:00:47. > :00:48.and steeplejack extraordinaire Fred Dibnah.
:00:49. > :00:50.Toby Earle is back to reveal some TV tittle tattle
:00:51. > :00:56.And of course we're talking Casualty with newcomer Hannah Spearritt.
:00:57. > :00:59.But first up, we're celebrating the greatest kids show ever made.
:01:00. > :01:11.It's been on our screens for over half a century,
:01:12. > :01:15.is the 36th presenter to steer the good ship BP.
:01:16. > :01:18.She recently attempted a Sport Relief challenge to run
:01:19. > :01:27.across the Irish Sea in an inflatable ball.
:01:28. > :01:37.As you do! I will need to train harder than I have ever trained
:01:38. > :01:43.before. Working with an a leaked team of specialists. Can I conquer
:01:44. > :01:53.the sea and find a way to walk on water? Can I become the wave runner?
:01:54. > :02:00.Please welcome the wave runner herself, Lindsey Russell! We just
:02:01. > :02:05.said, watching that, I feel sick looking at that! It looks really
:02:06. > :02:09.tough. It was really, really hard. Certainly one of Blue Peter's
:02:10. > :02:15.hardest challenges ever. I was in that ball for a long time. Nine
:02:16. > :02:22.hours, in the end. How far did you manage to cover in that time? I did
:02:23. > :02:26.17 nautical miles. The aim was 21, but as time went on during the
:02:27. > :02:31.challenge, the first six hours went really well, then the winter set in,
:02:32. > :02:35.the tides changed and sadly I could see that I was getting further and
:02:36. > :02:41.further away. Did they get you out or did they turn you back with a
:02:42. > :02:46.barge? No, they did, they put me on a boat and I had a little hot
:02:47. > :02:50.chocolate, and a little cry. Getting back was one of the nicest moments
:02:51. > :02:54.of my life, getting into Portpatrick. It was lined with
:02:55. > :03:00.children with Blue Peter banners cheering me on. It was not your
:03:01. > :03:05.first challenge. Although getting down to the studio today has been a
:03:06. > :03:10.bit of a challenge, how many hours? I set off at ten o'clock this
:03:11. > :03:15.morning. You should have come in the ball! What else have you done? I did
:03:16. > :03:22.amounted marathon, in the Swiss Alps. Climbing up and skiing down?
:03:23. > :03:26.Yes, climbing up on skis with these velvet things under them, to make
:03:27. > :03:33.them stick to the snow. That was 18.5 hours. And the marathon as
:03:34. > :03:39.well? Yes, the London Marathon, that was quite nice. Just four hours! You
:03:40. > :03:44.say that but you did it in three hours and something, didn't you?
:03:45. > :03:49.That is pretty impressive. Blue Peter has got to be one of the
:03:50. > :03:52.toughest gigs in telly. Can you ever say no to things, when they say
:03:53. > :03:59.something in a meeting, can you say no? You could, but I think part of
:04:00. > :04:03.being a Blue Peter presenter is, you do it all for the badge and because
:04:04. > :04:07.you love adventure and trying things. That is the brilliant thing
:04:08. > :04:11.about the show. And especially that Sport Relief Challenge. I did not
:04:12. > :04:16.make it to the finish line but it is not really about that. It is about
:04:17. > :04:19.having a go and doing something crazy and giving it everything. We
:04:20. > :04:24.have got a clip of the moment you found out that you were going to be
:04:25. > :04:31.the next Blue Peter presenter. The next Blue Peter presenter, as chose
:04:32. > :04:39.by you, the CBBC viewers, is... Lindsay! This is your moment, you
:04:40. > :04:48.are the new Blue Peter presenter, how do you feel? I feel amazing!
:04:49. > :04:55.Thank you for voting meet, so much! Well done! It is so nice that the
:04:56. > :04:59.kids voted for you because they are quite fussy customers, kids. They
:05:00. > :05:03.are. It is a lovely way to get the job, actually. It was
:05:04. > :05:07.nerve-wracking, but to be voted in by the kids, made the first live
:05:08. > :05:14.show a bit easier because I thought, they want me here.
:05:15. > :05:17.You're part of a great Blue Peter line-up with Barney
:05:18. > :05:19.and Radzi, but a bit like Doctor Who, everyone's
:05:20. > :05:27.It's Mark Curry, Yvette Fielding and Caron Keating.
:05:28. > :05:30.Yvette Fielding was the youngest ever Blue Peter presenter -
:05:31. > :05:43.17 when she auditioned as well. She was a baby. And this was my
:05:44. > :05:53.favourite clip. It was pancake - gate! Here she is making a bit of a
:05:54. > :06:02.hash of it! Oh, dear! But is that, then. But is tossing it. OK, I have
:06:03. > :06:06.turned it over. Oh, dear Amy! Don't do what I have done, I am not a very
:06:07. > :06:12.good cook at all. Do they teach you just to smile whatever it happens?
:06:13. > :06:15.Yes, just style it out, which is exactly what she did, with that top.
:06:16. > :06:17.And apparently Mark Curry refused to look after dog Goldie,
:06:18. > :06:25.so Yvette had to look after him instead.
:06:26. > :06:37.Lindsey, how do you get on with the current Blue
:06:38. > :06:45.Yes, I am quite close to Shelley, the daughters. Is that just any
:06:46. > :06:50.daughters or can you tell it is Shelley? That is 100% Shelley.
:06:51. > :06:52.Going back a bit further, there was the 1983 line-up
:06:53. > :06:55.of Peter Duncan, Simon Groom and Janet Ellis.
:06:56. > :06:57.During her time on the show, Janet Ellis broke the women's
:06:58. > :07:00.European free fall record when she sky dived with the RAF,
:07:01. > :07:02.even after she broke her pelvis in training.
:07:03. > :07:04.The show received loads of complaints about Peter Duncan
:07:05. > :07:09.looking scruffy, so they launched a "design Peter an outfit"
:07:10. > :07:12.competition - and the winning design was his trademark green
:07:13. > :07:28.Now we've talked challenges, we've talked animals,
:07:29. > :07:31.but another huge part of Blue Peter are the makes.
:07:32. > :07:40.Well, this one took me eight minutes, it was a Shaun The Sheep
:07:41. > :07:41.farmyard, complete with trees, fences, friends galore.
:07:42. > :07:44.There have been some brilliant makes on the show and some
:07:45. > :07:56.A make-up holder made from a cutlery tray.
:07:57. > :08:00.A cat bed made from a washing up bowl.
:08:01. > :08:06.That looks really comfy! Bit of a shocker, this one. Do your member
:08:07. > :08:08.this, 2009? April Fools. A fake poo made from a plastic
:08:09. > :08:16.bottle, and double-sided tape. And if yours looks like that, take
:08:17. > :08:20.yourself to casualty. Remember it's the greatest kids
:08:21. > :08:22.show on Earth, and it's That's Blue Peter,
:08:23. > :08:27.Thursdays on CBBC at 5pm. A huge thank you to the lovely
:08:28. > :08:32.Lindsey. Now if someone wanted to go
:08:33. > :08:34.backstage at this show, The things that go on behind those
:08:35. > :08:37.cameras are outrageous. The Voice however,
:08:38. > :08:39.is a bit more relaxed. Louise Hazel managed to go backstage
:08:40. > :09:02.at the first live show this weekend, We are here for the live shows of
:09:03. > :09:05.The Voice. It is access all areas! I was looking forward to hitting the
:09:06. > :09:10.button is, but obviously there are no buttons. The blind auditions have
:09:11. > :09:19.gone now. But it. Reckon they will notice if I just stand in? Oh, there
:09:20. > :09:24.is upholders! These stairs are totally transparent. I don't know
:09:25. > :09:28.how anyone has not taken a tumble yet. I have managed to get into the
:09:29. > :09:35.directors chair. Use of the central nervous system of The Voice. 14
:09:36. > :09:39.studio cameras going on here. Run titles! I have always wanted to say
:09:40. > :09:46.that! They are bringing the audience in now. Not long until the live
:09:47. > :09:52.show. Do you know already who you will give that fast pass to? I don't
:09:53. > :09:56.know yet, I will make my decision in the moment, but I feel like it is a
:09:57. > :10:05.50-50 chance for me this week. It is almost even harder. What about you,
:10:06. > :10:09.Will? I took the fast pass when I came from the airport. I do not know
:10:10. > :10:16.yet. So many different varieties of talent out there. In my team, we are
:10:17. > :10:20.seeing a lot of the same. Dope, dope, dope. Just want to put that
:10:21. > :10:29.out there. First year on the show, how are you finding it? Everyone has
:10:30. > :10:36.been really nice, and Will particularly. What about the nerves?
:10:37. > :10:39.I have told my team, as soon as you start getting rid of the nerves, you
:10:40. > :10:45.are dead. So just embrace the nerves. Use it for the good. Big day
:10:46. > :10:53.today. First of the live shows. Feeling a little bit nervous. I feel
:10:54. > :10:59.quite happy, quite excited. What has it been like working with Will? He
:11:00. > :11:09.is so amazing and it is such a privilege to be able to work with
:11:10. > :11:14.him. Who chose the song, you or George? George. It is possibly
:11:15. > :11:18.something which I would not have chose an, but I will see if I can do
:11:19. > :11:24.it. It is a challenge for me and I think I needed a challenge. What
:11:25. > :11:34.does it mean to you guys? This is the only chance we get so it is
:11:35. > :11:39.something to fight for. So, Jordan, are you pleased to make it this far?
:11:40. > :11:45.I did not even get a turn at the blinds and now I am here at the
:11:46. > :11:50.lives. It is a bit much to take in. The person that I am going to put
:11:51. > :11:56.through as my fast pass is Jordan. My fast pass goes to Kevin. I was
:11:57. > :12:02.nervous, trying to think of my words and stuff. But I really enjoyed it.
:12:03. > :12:12.You did a good job. Everything on the stage. You have to be all into
:12:13. > :12:19.it and show everyone. Tonight I am going to be a gentleman. The emotion
:12:20. > :12:27.was there. . Do you think you have done enough? I have no idea. It is
:12:28. > :12:31.really hard, just because you do not really know what the public are
:12:32. > :12:39.going to do. I think they genuinely do base it on the performance. Let's
:12:40. > :12:46.hear it one more time for the incredible Harry. And of course,
:12:47. > :12:52.Lauren! What a day. I am kind of exhausted. That was amazing. I am
:12:53. > :12:53.off to get a cream tea. That sounds good!
:12:54. > :12:55.Now, we've had so much chocolate over the weekend,
:12:56. > :12:57.that the Grapevine is a detox area today.
:12:58. > :13:08.I've got my bees pollen and bladderwhack smoothie.
:13:09. > :13:13.And I have got my shake! Is it disgusting? Yes, don't go there.
:13:14. > :13:14.But more importantly, we're joined once again
:13:15. > :13:28.Don't strength out, please! You have been hunting for showbiz and TV news
:13:29. > :13:36.gossip? I have and I think I have come up trumps. A new bridal show
:13:37. > :13:42.has been unveiled, if you will. Say yes, to the dress. Only what is to
:13:43. > :13:48.do? All you have to do is go in the shop - that one looks nice. Done!
:13:49. > :13:53.But apparently not. It is always the bit in Don't Tell The Bride where
:13:54. > :13:59.the blokes fall on their face. Huge in America, 200 episodes. It is
:14:00. > :14:03.going to be filmed over here. And David Emmanuelle is involved. Yes,
:14:04. > :14:15.the designer of Princess Diana's wedding dress. Have we got some soap
:14:16. > :14:22.news? Yes, we have. Denise Welsh, formerly of loose women, will be
:14:23. > :14:33.joining as one of the slaters. Alison Slater, the mother. She looks
:14:34. > :14:39.not 1 million miles from Old Mo there. She will love you for that! I
:14:40. > :14:43.think once you get the Slater Black Barnet. That should be a painted
:14:44. > :14:47.name, by the way! She will be appearing in EastEnders in the not
:14:48. > :14:54.too distant future. Do you remember John McArdle? Billy Corkhill, he
:14:55. > :15:00.will be joining Emmerdale. He will be playing a plumber. He might be
:15:01. > :15:08.her father. Will being a plumber drive her around for Bend? He does
:15:09. > :15:11.look like a young father Christmas. And you have got everyone's answer
:15:12. > :15:16.to Saturday night vision? I have. You think of the great double acts
:15:17. > :15:23.over the years. Alan Carr and Noel Edmonds! It is a thing, apparently!
:15:24. > :15:28.I don't know if people have had too much sugar this week. For they are
:15:29. > :15:34.teaming up apparently, according to reports, for a Saturday night show.
:15:35. > :15:39.It is being reported that they are going to make an entertainment show
:15:40. > :15:44.together. Do they know each other, then? They have met, but they are
:15:45. > :15:54.not exactly best buddies, I don't believe.
:15:55. > :16:06.Jenna Colburn, we know she likes to travel through time, but for this
:16:07. > :16:10.new drama, Victoria, she is playing Victoria. It looks amazing. It looks
:16:11. > :16:16.great. 64 years to cover in this story. There were so many fashion
:16:17. > :16:22.nation attempts, and of course she invented a sponge cake. A life well
:16:23. > :16:25.lived. And to link it back to the beginning, she popularised the white
:16:26. > :16:33.wedding dress. This is what I love about you, we have come full circle.
:16:34. > :16:38.We say thank you very much to Toby. A lead and everyone here,
:16:39. > :16:48.celebration times, it is our 21st episode today! 21 today! This is a
:16:49. > :16:56.bit immersing, because guess what? We have got nothing on Casualty, 30
:16:57. > :17:01.years this year. Joining us is Hannah Spirit. Here she is in her
:17:02. > :17:07.first episode. What am I supposed to do? I can't go home without the
:17:08. > :17:12.money. I bought into it, I thought for a couple of seconds I cared
:17:13. > :17:18.about Noll. I do, but that doesn't get the debt collectors off my
:17:19. > :17:22.doorstep. You're not going to have to do worry about it in prison. That
:17:23. > :17:26.is not going to happen, I have seen your friends, the ones who think you
:17:27. > :17:34.are a hero. It would be a shame if they found out about the truth.
:17:35. > :17:41.Please welcome Hannah Spirit. That face you do, it is fantastic. Well
:17:42. > :17:47.done, joining Casualties. It has been great fun, loved it. 30 years,
:17:48. > :17:53.an institution on the telly. On your first day where you pretty nervous
:17:54. > :17:59.about it? Yes, I was pretty nervous, there is or is that feeling you are
:18:00. > :18:09.the new girl, but then quickly you get settled. Everyone is so lovely.
:18:10. > :18:19.Do you do a lot of scenes with that guy? Yes, it was my surrogate daddy.
:18:20. > :18:26.Your character, she is a bit troublesome, Mercedes. A bit of a
:18:27. > :18:32.troublemaker. She has got a child and that is her main want to gain
:18:33. > :18:37.money but at the end of the day she is a drug addict as well. Also she
:18:38. > :18:48.has had a bad experience with her ex recently. She is a manipulator. She
:18:49. > :18:54.comes into the programme marking the nicest guy possible, which is in
:18:55. > :19:02.all. She then ends up manipulating Mac to give her money. Quite a meaty
:19:03. > :19:07.character. How does it work on set at casualties, are their ambulances
:19:08. > :19:13.whizzing around? Can you jazz around on the trolleys? Yes, there are lots
:19:14. > :19:20.of Ben Stow was around on. It is quite nice when you get those scenes
:19:21. > :19:30.-- a lot of heads. Then you can just kind of -- a lot of beds. It is film
:19:31. > :19:35.extorted Dr Who in Cardiff? Yes. Do you all eat together in the canteen?
:19:36. > :19:45.Yes, we all have lunch at different times. Some aliens queueing up for
:19:46. > :19:48.the chicken hotpot? It is a bit like that, and there are three sets going
:19:49. > :19:53.at the same time. Lots of episodes the same time. Before hitting
:19:54. > :19:59.Hollywood, lots of movie stars popped up at Holby General. In 1993,
:20:00. > :20:07.an 18-year-old Kate Winslet appeared in the drama as teenager, Suzanne.
:20:08. > :20:12.Did you know that? No, I didn't. Check this one out, not someone who
:20:13. > :20:17.appeared in just one episode but three between 1994 and 1996, a
:20:18. > :20:23.teenage Orlando Bloom. Look at how young he is! Must have had some
:20:24. > :20:35.trouble with his elf, if he was at the hospital! From health to Hobbit,
:20:36. > :20:42.1998, a very freshfaced Martin Freeman. After last night's finale,
:20:43. > :20:45.Tom Hiddleston appeared in 2007 as a window cleaner who accidentally
:20:46. > :20:51.knocks a woman off a balcony. He doesn't look too upset about it. You
:20:52. > :20:55.have got to be clumsy. I liked the way we did his audition tape for
:20:56. > :21:00.bond and now we have lost the gig by showing him in that hat. You sort of
:21:01. > :21:06.did at the other way round, you had done lots of stuff before
:21:07. > :21:10.Casualties. I did a little bit before, I had done stuff outside of
:21:11. > :21:18.school, I was in a Company cover national music Theatre. Theatre was
:21:19. > :21:24.my stomping ground, and then S Club. Was the TV show called Miami seven?
:21:25. > :21:35.Yes, there we are. How old were you there? 17 going on 18. Did you have
:21:36. > :21:43.any idea? We were insanely having fun. That was filmed in Essex, yes?
:21:44. > :21:48.Exactly! We were living on location there. Was it quite weird to get
:21:49. > :21:54.whizzed away from your folks? Yes, it was crazy but it was our normal.
:21:55. > :21:57.In a way I only relies how crazy it was looking back, if you know what I
:21:58. > :22:01.mean, but at the time it was just like that was our life. Back then it
:22:02. > :22:06.was the acting that it precedents for you. Yes, that show that we did
:22:07. > :22:12.was what it was an people enjoyed it, it was good hangover TV, it was
:22:13. > :22:16.sunny, it was not anything to take seriously, but I was on the path to
:22:17. > :22:20.hopefully make it as an actress before S Club came up, but what an
:22:21. > :22:26.opportunity. An amazing career you have had. Yes, all good, and that is
:22:27. > :22:34.what got me into getting an audition the Primeval. That was the dinosaur
:22:35. > :22:41.one. Yes. Any sort of dream roles, what do you watch? I would love to
:22:42. > :22:48.be in Dr Who or something like that. What about another big drama? Reid
:22:49. > :22:57.night Manager. There is a big queue for that one. That would be amazing.
:22:58. > :23:02.What about the music, will we see S Club back again, because you did
:23:03. > :23:06.come back for a bit? Yes, we did it last year, so that doesn't seem that
:23:07. > :23:10.far away for stop if we were to do something again, then maybe we would
:23:11. > :23:16.kind of maybe do something for the 20th anniversary. So maybe a couple
:23:17. > :23:20.of years. We are really looking forward to seeing you in casualty
:23:21. > :23:28.this Saturday. Let's hear it for Hannah Spearritt. Time for the
:23:29. > :23:40.biggest decision of the day. What are we watching tonight?
:23:41. > :23:51.Two big shows, first on Channel 4, this one is at 7:15pm. Guy Martin's
:23:52. > :23:58.Wall of Death Live. You do that really well. Using shipping
:23:59. > :24:02.containers, Guy has built the world's largest wall of death, you
:24:03. > :24:08.know the fairground cylinder that people ride around on motorbikes.
:24:09. > :24:11.This one is 40 metres in diameter and guy is trying to set a new speed
:24:12. > :24:21.record. His training has not gone valiantly. Faster! Incredibly, after
:24:22. > :24:26.just two days of practice, Guy manages a whole minute riding the
:24:27. > :24:39.wall. OK, come in! But that has got him dizzy again. Sorry. Just a bit
:24:40. > :24:44.dizzy. This is majorly serious. He hasn't got gloves on or anything. He
:24:45. > :24:51.needs to hit 60 mph to break the record but apparently he is going
