:00:30. > :00:32.one of the funniest women in comedy,

:00:33. > :00:34.Elaine C Smith, will be just one sofa along,

:00:35. > :00:38.You're Back in the Room's hypnotist, Keith Barry, joins us to talk

:00:39. > :00:42.And Sara Cox tells us which TV show she'd like to Bring

:00:43. > :00:47.We start with the news of the sad passing of Ronnie Corbett who died

:00:48. > :00:50.Best known, of course, for his on-screen partnership

:00:51. > :00:52.with Ronnie Barker, he gave us so many golden moments that

:00:53. > :00:55.would make us laugh and keep us laughing time after time after time.

:00:56. > :00:58.It's clear from the tributes we've seen today that Ronnie Corbett

:00:59. > :01:01.was as warm, generous and likeable off screen as he was on.

:01:02. > :01:03.As he would often joke, no-one could look up to him,

:01:04. > :01:16.I had the pleasure of meeting him a few times, as did Emma. He was good

:01:17. > :01:21.fun. The last time I saw him, we were on the bag of a golf buggy. He

:01:22. > :01:26.was holding on to me. He was such a sweet, sweet man. I met him when I

:01:27. > :01:29.was 12. He said "I'm really glad you are on the show, you are the only

:01:30. > :01:32.person that makes me look tall." Lovely man. Lovely words on Twitter.

:01:33. > :01:40.John Cleese: And the other David, David Cameron,

:01:41. > :02:06.he tweeted, saying: Here, here.

:02:07. > :02:11.Ronnie Corbett mastered it all from sit Copts to game shows, but it was

:02:12. > :02:19.the sketch show where his work will never be bettered. Let's enjoy the

:02:20. > :02:29.Mastermind sketch. Your first chosen subject

:02:30. > :02:37.was answering questions before they were asked, this time you have

:02:38. > :02:40.chosen to answer the question before What is the name of the directory

:02:41. > :02:48.that lists members of the peerage? Who are Len Murray

:02:49. > :02:52.and Sir Jeffrey Howe? What is the difference

:02:53. > :02:56.between a donkey and an ass? One is a trade union leader,

:02:57. > :02:59.the other is a member Complete the quotation,

:03:00. > :03:09."To be or not to be..." Who is the present Archbishop of

:03:10. > :03:18.Canterbury? He is a fat man

:03:19. > :03:21.who tells blue jokes. The Right Reverend

:03:22. > :03:28.Robert Runcie. What would you use a rip

:03:29. > :03:38.cord to pull open? What sort of a person

:03:39. > :03:44.lived in Bedlam? So funny. Masters of their craft

:03:45. > :04:08.there. There's going to be more tributes

:04:09. > :04:11.to Ronnie over on The One Show on BBC1 at 7.00pm and tonight

:04:12. > :04:14.at 8.00pm BBC2 will be airing Elaine C Smith has been in loads

:04:15. > :04:20.of shows including Rab C Nesbitt and can now be seen in BBC2's

:04:21. > :04:23.new comedy Two Doors Down. The show's all about a close group

:04:24. > :04:27.of neighbours but in this clip from tomorrow night's show,

:04:28. > :04:29.Elaine's character, Christine, isn't feeling in

:04:30. > :04:40.a very sociable mood. Are you all right Christine? Oh,

:04:41. > :04:46.Colin, not so great actually. , oh, well. I'm back in my collar. I

:04:47. > :04:51.noticed that. My bladder is away again. Oh dear God. Drips and drops

:04:52. > :04:56.and if that's not bad enough I've started to get this ringing in my

:04:57. > :04:59.ears Ringing in your ears? Aye. I tell you what you want to do. What's

:05:00. > :05:15.that? Give your doctor a bell. Please welcome Elaine C Smith. Tell

:05:16. > :05:20.us a bit more about Two Doors Down, it looks great As you can see, I

:05:21. > :05:32.modelled my performance on Michelle fiver. -- Michelle Fife. -- Phifer.

:05:33. > :05:36.It is a daft idea that will resonate across the whole fted UK. Regardless

:05:37. > :05:39.of whether you come from Scotland, Wales or wherever because it is

:05:40. > :05:42.about your neighbours. It is about three different sets of neighbours

:05:43. > :05:46.who live literally a door down from each other and the fact that you

:05:47. > :05:51.have to rub along and get on with your neighbours. What is interesting

:05:52. > :05:55.about it, is it has a lot of heart. I have seen the first episode. You

:05:56. > :06:00.gel with all the characters. It is down to the writing. When I first

:06:01. > :06:05.read it, it made me laugh out loud but I knew who the characters were.

:06:06. > :06:08.You knew them, the character you saw there, Jonathan Watson plays is that

:06:09. > :06:13.guy who will instantly let you know how wealthy he is. He has the flash

:06:14. > :06:19.car in the driveway and talks about driving to the timescare. Arabella

:06:20. > :06:25.Weir, how do you get a word in edgeways? I'm quite good at that but

:06:26. > :06:31.she is fantastic. She is outrageous but so is Doon. That's what has been

:06:32. > :06:38.wonderful for me. I started out in a show Naked Video, she was on the

:06:39. > :06:42.Fast Show and Doon was doing Smack the Pony. All before your time, of

:06:43. > :06:50.course. You are youngsters. Thanks for pointing that out I had admired

:06:51. > :06:54.them from afar so to get in a series with those women, and at a time you

:06:55. > :06:57.were on your own with a bloke, the star, it has been fantastic.

:06:58. > :07:01.I love it is a strong female fast. Do you think comedy has changed for

:07:02. > :07:05.females now? Do you think it is different? I think it is different.

:07:06. > :07:09.It has got better. It is interesting we were talking about the great

:07:10. > :07:15.Ronnie Corbett When I think about the comedy I grew up with, you very

:07:16. > :07:20.rarely saw women get the tag lines or things like that. I found myself

:07:21. > :07:27.in a particle universe in one of the scenes we did one day where you have

:07:28. > :07:31.four women being funny. We had a female DOP. And a if he male

:07:32. > :07:39.producer. I thought #30e years ago it would never happen. That's a

:07:40. > :07:43.director of photography. It is a takever. It is. What is happening?

:07:44. > :07:47.It is just about balance. There is still an attitude. I saw an

:07:48. > :07:53.interview the other day when someone turned around to a if he male

:07:54. > :07:57.actress and said - are women funny? That is like saying - can women

:07:58. > :08:01.paint? Can women sing? Of course we can. But it is about the opportunity

:08:02. > :08:06.and opening it out there but the men are funny and it is written by men.

:08:07. > :08:08.It is very funny. How critical are you of your performances these days?

:08:09. > :08:12.Hate it. Really, do you watch yourself? No. I

:08:13. > :08:17.find it really, really difficult. Over the years I always say - oh,

:08:18. > :08:21.who is that woman, tell her to be quiet.

:08:22. > :08:26.And you see your mistakes as well and think - why did I do that?

:08:27. > :08:29.Ironically I got sent through the first episode of this because we

:08:30. > :08:39.were doing a BAFTA screening in Glasgow. I watched it and my

:08:40. > :08:43.daughter who is an actress said - oh, mum, watching yourself. I

:08:44. > :08:47.watched it and I laughed. Just that one scene? No, all the way through

:08:48. > :08:51.that. You have been making us laugh for

:08:52. > :08:56.years. Obviously, huge, Rab C Nesbitt you were in that. How did

:08:57. > :09:02.you find working on this show, it was massive? Again, very glamorous,

:09:03. > :09:08.as you can see. I do a very good ugly, as you can see. Can I ask you

:09:09. > :09:13.- what is that animal? It is like a dog sheep or something? We breed

:09:14. > :09:18.them in Glasgow. It is a special breed. I love it. We have got a clip

:09:19. > :09:24.from your first episode all the way back in 1990. How young was I. I

:09:25. > :09:32.sent you for sausages three days ago and I haven't seen hide nor hair of

:09:33. > :09:37.them since. Shush, shush. That's what the smell was. There's your

:09:38. > :09:44.sausages. I don't want them now. They are no used to me now, are

:09:45. > :09:49.they? Mary, come on. We have known each other too long to let a pan of

:09:50. > :09:52.dead meat come between us. Let's leave our sex life out of this, will

:09:53. > :09:56.you? You played such an eccentric

:09:57. > :10:02.character, didn't you? I look about 12 in that I have to say. That voice

:10:03. > :10:08.of your, beautiful. I could listen to it for hours. Minutes possibly.

:10:09. > :10:14.I'm classicallied trained you know to get that voice. --

:10:15. > :10:19.classically-trained. She was based on -- my aunties will hate me for

:10:20. > :10:23.that - but my aunties and women I knew. And fab writing. The fist time

:10:24. > :10:27.we did it as a sketch on Naked Video, I thought -- this is great.

:10:28. > :10:32.It started aes a sketch and then they decided to do a pilot. We had

:10:33. > :10:36.no idea it would become this iconic thing, you know, but there is

:10:37. > :10:41.something wonderful, you know, I realise when men play or when Robert

:10:42. > :10:46.De Niro decides he will be Raging Bull and put on weight and be ugly

:10:47. > :10:50.they are acting, when women play like that, we are not acting, we

:10:51. > :10:54.must be like that. That happened to me for a long time, people thought I

:10:55. > :10:58.was Mary Nesbitt. As you can see, I'm not. You are definitely not.

:10:59. > :11:04.Thank you so much for coming N you can see the new series of Two Doors

:11:05. > :11:07.Down on BBC Two at 10.00pm tomorrow night.

:11:08. > :11:07.So funny. Elaine C Smith. APPLAUSE.

:11:08. > :11:15.Thank you. This week Sara Cox was asked

:11:16. > :11:18.which TV show she'd And amazingly, she chose a show that

:11:19. > :11:22.would have been on TV, at this time, on this channel,

:11:23. > :11:42.15 years ago in the '90s. My name is Sarah Cox and I want to

:11:43. > :11:47.bring back the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.

:11:48. > :11:52.# This is a story about how my life got flipped turned upside down#

:11:53. > :11:56.It is so hard to explain t without singing the song.

:11:57. > :12:01.# Got in my neighbourhood...# He got in a fight, his mamma got

:12:02. > :12:08.scared and said # You are moving in with your auntie

:12:09. > :12:13.and uncle in bell air. It was at 6.30pm on BBC two. It really felt

:12:14. > :12:19.like it was for us. I'm in the your uncle Philip. I must have got sent

:12:20. > :12:26.to the wrong crib. Will gets sent to live with his wealthy aunt and uncle

:12:27. > :12:32.in Bel-Air, which of course is posh. This place is huge. Next time I

:12:33. > :12:36.leave I'll take breadcrumbs. It was incredibly funny. Your hair like

:12:37. > :12:41.this, hair on the top, none on the sides. I guess you all got a reverse

:12:42. > :12:44.thing going on. Most of the humour came from Will, with either Jeffrey,

:12:45. > :12:53.the Butler. Master William, walk this way.

:12:54. > :12:58.His uncle Phil, who from the very off, Will was taking the Mickey out

:12:59. > :13:06.of his big belly. You have certainly grown. Well, we all have. And of

:13:07. > :13:11.course his cousin. My name is, ah, Carlton.

:13:12. > :13:16.Put it there, Smith. When I think about the Fresh Prince,

:13:17. > :13:21.one of the standout things is Carlton's dancing. You could still

:13:22. > :13:29.watch it now and just proper laugh out loud. Excuse me, may I cut in.

:13:30. > :13:33.As well as the comedy side, you also get really tender moments where he

:13:34. > :13:41.is looking after his younger cousin. Ladies and gentlemen, my fly girl,

:13:42. > :13:49.Ashley bathings He chimes through with a sweet boy. Would you teach me

:13:50. > :13:54.how to dance? Well, yes. Will Smith is a big Hollywood star now but

:13:55. > :14:00.strong start kicking it off with Fresh Prince. Look who is here? Hey,

:14:01. > :14:04.who is he? This is really appealing. There is a really nice innocence

:14:05. > :14:10.there, as well as being really hilarious and daft. Where have you

:14:11. > :14:14.been? How come you didn't call me. That's my mum's finger, get it off.

:14:15. > :14:19.He likes to think he is successful with the ladies, but he is not. I

:14:20. > :14:26.can see you are being seduced by my intellectual prowess. Is that spam

:14:27. > :14:32.in your teeth? He is like a hip hop Tiger the way he bounces around on

:14:33. > :14:35.set. The whole show is just like a look book of what the '90s were

:14:36. > :14:38.basically, because there is still that slight overhang, literally of

:14:39. > :14:42.the shoulder pads. You could have just said it was a good dress.

:14:43. > :14:46.Carlton in his various sweaters and Will, of course in all the crazy

:14:47. > :14:54.colours and the baseball cap. Style-wise it is a complete feast

:14:55. > :14:58.for the eyes. I think Fresh Prince really stands the test of time. I

:14:59. > :15:04.have just been watching a few of the old episodes, it is pure class, I

:15:05. > :15:09.love it. I dare you two to fight me. Now see here, big guy This has made

:15:10. > :15:14.me want to go and watch more of them. I want to save them and show

:15:15. > :15:20.them to my kids when they are a bit older. I'm sure it is going to be

:15:21. > :15:24.brilliant forever. I'm sure I have seen your picture B oh, that's right

:15:25. > :15:26.in the dictionary next to kebang. Brill yapt and the lovely Sarah Cox

:15:27. > :15:29.there. I'm back in my favourite place,

:15:30. > :15:32.The Grapevine, and we're continuing with the '90s' theme, so I've

:15:33. > :15:37.got my flourescent pop drinks. You've got your Opal

:15:38. > :15:48.Fruits and Marathon bar. And what else is around in the '90s?

:15:49. > :15:54.Were you around then? You could the have been busy in the '90s, were

:15:55. > :15:56.you? Oh, of course that band you used to be in.

:15:57. > :16:03.And joining us is, of course, London Live's Toby Earle.

:16:04. > :16:13.Thank you, from a Prince to an earl. I wanted to be '90s with my coloured

:16:14. > :16:17.underwear. I won't get it out. So final li, heavens above we have

:16:18. > :16:22.footage from the new Top Gear series. After months and months of

:16:23. > :16:25.stories, well Chris Evans sick on the side of the road, people doing

:16:26. > :16:31.stunts where they shouldn't. We get to see what it looks like, the

:16:32. > :16:36.trailer moves so fast if you Le Blanc you will miss it. It seems to

:16:37. > :16:39.be men with their mouths wide opening and screaming in the trailer

:16:40. > :16:44.but it does feature, get this, a woman. About time. She is driving

:16:45. > :16:48.Chris Evans. She drives in such a way as it make you feel queasy,

:16:49. > :16:54.where he has to have a rest break on the side of the road.

:16:55. > :16:59.It looks great. Top Gear in itself is a beautifully-filmed piece of art

:17:00. > :17:04.and it seems they have kept it in tact for this. It looks like Top

:17:05. > :17:09.Gear My other half loves it. I never want to watch it but with Matt Le

:17:10. > :17:12.Blanc I'm happy. It is all about the cars And Matt Le Blanc. Moving on

:17:13. > :17:21.from that, let's manufacture on it science. When it comes to science, I

:17:22. > :17:28.fierce-this. So to help people like me through this, we have a couple of

:17:29. > :17:30.series from our favourite scientist, Stephen Hawking and Brian Cox.

:17:31. > :17:32.Stephen Hawking is presenting a one-off special of

:17:33. > :17:45.Brian Cox has made a puppet version of himself

:17:46. > :17:48.to make physics fun for adults and kids alike in an online

:17:49. > :18:03.Brian Cox's online series The Quest for Wonder includes

:18:04. > :18:05.Cox "losing his wonder" - his puppet alter ego tells him

:18:06. > :18:07.without his wonder, "It's just equations with great hair".

:18:08. > :18:14.What else do you have? Do you remember Nev from the Call Interest.

:18:15. > :18:20.He was a met vagusal poster, given a loud speaker for a mouth. He would

:18:21. > :18:25.walk around proclaiming all sorts of things, he has moved from Wales. We

:18:26. > :18:31.are crest-fallen To India. Starting up a call centre, in India. A new

:18:32. > :18:37.series coming to Channel W on May 9th making his team to India to set

:18:38. > :18:43.up a call centre. If you remember some of his schemes, to promote team

:18:44. > :18:47.bonding, singing Killers' songs, he takes that with him out to India.

:18:48. > :18:49.People there want to learn business acumen and instead are learning pop

:18:50. > :19:01.songs. There is a TV comeback on the cards,

:19:02. > :19:08.it is not Louis Walsh, it is Morph. Louis Walsh might also be coming

:19:09. > :19:15.back, but Morph is returning, thanks to sky, he will be on an app, it is

:19:16. > :19:21.all about kids programming, and his friend Chas will be back as well. It

:19:22. > :19:25.has to be plasticine to be believed! Thank you for coming in!

:19:26. > :19:28.You don't want to get on the wrong side of Keith Barry.

:19:29. > :19:30.He's a hypnotist, mentalist and magician who can make people do

:19:31. > :19:34.You can see him at the moment on ITV's hypnotism game show

:19:35. > :19:43.Here he is in an exclusive clip from this weekend's show.

:19:44. > :19:51.The eyes on me, take a deep breath in, and sleep. Drifting and

:19:52. > :19:55.dreaming. Jalan, you will believe you are a traffic officer, you will

:19:56. > :20:01.be convinced the drivers will commit an offence. You will be compelled to

:20:02. > :20:06.turn on the car radio and you will be in a dance off with Jerry Essex.

:20:07. > :20:14.You will believe you are a monkey in a safari park. You are a sexy car

:20:15. > :20:19.wash attendant. You will believe you are full of air and you have a

:20:20. > :20:22.puncture. Philip will have to pump you back up. You are back in the

:20:23. > :20:34.room. You are back in the room! Please

:20:35. > :20:41.welcome Keith Barry! It looks so much fun, you enjoying

:20:42. > :20:47.it? It is a blast, it is crazy, I filmed the Australian version, that

:20:48. > :20:52.goes out on Sunday, we are filming the American version, so it is going

:20:53. > :20:57.worldwide. The first time that I did it was with Philip, we filmed the

:20:58. > :21:02.pilot for ITV, and it has gone crazy, people enjoying it. He is

:21:03. > :21:07.brilliant to work with. How do the auditions work? They are

:21:08. > :21:11.susceptibility tests, we put word out for the public to come to these

:21:12. > :21:17.tests to see if they can be hypnotised or not. Everybody can go

:21:18. > :21:22.into hypnosis, you just need creativity, emotion and

:21:23. > :21:31.intelligence. We would struggle! Can you test us? I could test the people

:21:32. > :21:39.at home as well. This is a sample of the type of stuff we would do. You

:21:40. > :21:42.would find 50% of people can go in quite quickly, and we pick from

:21:43. > :21:50.those the people that go on the show. Which camera? Number one. You

:21:51. > :21:55.do it here as well. But your hands out like this. Interlock your

:21:56. > :22:02.fingers. Squeeze your hands tightly together. It can all be cameras and

:22:03. > :22:07.ignore me. Extend your first two fingers out so there is a one inch

:22:08. > :22:14.gap. Stay at that gap, take a deep breath, if I suggest to you, the gap

:22:15. > :22:17.begins to get smaller, there are magnets pulling them closer

:22:18. > :22:24.together. They are pulling them closer together until they touch. If

:22:25. > :22:29.they touch, let me know now. Mine are touching!

:22:30. > :22:34.Straightaway! Different things will be happening. Some people are

:22:35. > :22:41.resisting it, that is OK... I was trying. They are control freaks, but

:22:42. > :22:46.they would still be good candidates. Other people's fingers move quickly,

:22:47. > :22:51.they are susceptible. It takes seven or eight minutes, you will be on the

:22:52. > :22:58.flat of your back and doing crazy things. Don't look me in the eyes!

:22:59. > :23:05.Some of these scenarios, who comes up with them? Me and the games team.

:23:06. > :23:12.They come up with the scenarios, I advise on what will and won't work,

:23:13. > :23:17.so it is a collaborative process. I am amazed that Phillip talks to you,

:23:18. > :23:21.because he gets such a raw deal. Kissed by contestants, covered in
