:01:55. > :01:58.Edwardian times. Now we are in the Roaring 20s, as we approach the end
:01:59. > :02:04.of the final series Mr Selfridge, played by Jeremy Piven, has a
:02:05. > :02:14.proposition for friend and entrepreneur Jeremy Delyn. It's been
:02:15. > :02:18.a troubling year. Cut. I can't imagine what you are planning. A
:02:19. > :02:25.huge public spectacle. We hope to take over all of Archer Street,
:02:26. > :02:29.something that big. Now that Whiteley's is on an even keel I need
:02:30. > :02:35.to leave it in your hands for a while and concentrate on the
:02:36. > :02:41.anniversary. Whatever you need. Whatever you need, so that ship --
:02:42. > :02:46.the store will be left in his hands. Jimmy is not a man to be trusted,
:02:47. > :02:51.and understatement of the year. Of the year! Thank you for backing me.
:02:52. > :02:57.On Friday night there's a really good option, if you ask me. Fun fact
:02:58. > :03:01.for you. I love your Friday fun facts. That building he has just
:03:02. > :03:05.bought, Whiteley's, that is on the screen now, is actually where we are
:03:06. > :03:10.sitting right now. Our TV studio is just there, you can see Sara waving.
:03:11. > :03:15.Hello, upon the third floor, it's like they are coming towards us. It
:03:16. > :03:19.makes me feel dizzy. Mr Selfridge, 9pm tonight, don't miss it. If it is
:03:20. > :03:26.pure entertainment you are after, one for all the family, this is for
:03:27. > :03:30.you, hosted by Dermot O'Leary and starring Top Gear's the star gives
:03:31. > :03:33.BBC One's The Getaway Car. Couples attempt to complete a car assault
:03:34. > :03:43.course, it's amazing, including the hilarious Hazard Highway. Are you
:03:44. > :03:49.OK? Oh, my God. Were going up, we're going up. Tell her to exit stage
:03:50. > :03:55.right. # let let it go # Let it go
:03:56. > :04:02.# The wind and the sky # Let it go #.
:04:03. > :04:07.I enjoy singing frozen! I love it. Brilliant. It's such a good show,
:04:08. > :04:11.you can watch it with the kids and relax and know there isn't any saucy
:04:12. > :04:15.dancers coming high kicking out. It's good, clean fun. Dermot is
:04:16. > :04:20.great. I'd love to have a go at that assault course. You are so bossy I
:04:21. > :04:25.can't imagine being in the passenger seat with you driving. It's a good
:04:26. > :04:30.test for marriages, friendships and relationships on the assault course.
:04:31. > :04:34.It's really, really good. On tomorrow night, 6:10pm on BBC One.
:04:35. > :04:38.Now for something a little different, a US series that everyone
:04:39. > :04:44.has been talking about since it started three years ago. Its
:04:45. > :04:48.political drama house of starring Kevin -- starring Kevin Spacey. It's
:04:49. > :04:53.available via Netflix and has the production values of a Hollywood
:04:54. > :04:55.movie plus some. Kevin Spacey plays Frank Underwood, the fictional
:04:56. > :04:58.president of the United States and if you are thinking of voting for
:04:59. > :05:04.him, don't, because he's slightly worse than... Donald Trump.
:05:05. > :05:09.President Frank is up to his old tricks. Doug tells me you greeted
:05:10. > :05:15.him with a firearm. We've been having some issues. Do you know what
:05:16. > :05:19.fascinates me about guns? A bullet comes out faster than the speed of
:05:20. > :05:22.sound and if you are on the wrong end of the bullet it hits you before
:05:23. > :05:26.you even hear it. I want you to hear me, Leann. You will walk away from
:05:27. > :05:29.this nonsense with Claire. You will not make a phone call, nor and
:05:30. > :05:33.someone, you will offer no explanation. Whatever you discussed
:05:34. > :05:38.with my wife, you will erase it from your mind and never speak of it
:05:39. > :05:47.again. Tell me I have been heard. Yes, I heard you. Good. Good, good.
:05:48. > :05:50.It really is good. He's the master of the threatening one-liner, he
:05:51. > :05:55.really, really is. This is such a brilliant show. I haven't watched
:05:56. > :05:59.all of it. You have to. On Netflix you can watch all of the new series
:06:00. > :06:05.on one go, it's all there since early this morning and series one,
:06:06. > :06:09.two three are there too. The new series for top trending on Twitter,
:06:10. > :06:12.many bingeing on this, you will be doing it over the weekend no doubt.
:06:13. > :06:18.If you want to spend your weekend watching what -- watching House Of
:06:19. > :06:22.Cards, go for it, we won't judge. Now to Gardeners' World, where
:06:23. > :06:27.tonight, 8:30pm on BBC Two, this is sweet, it is Monty Don and he is
:06:28. > :06:34.giving us pause for thought. Nice. You may have noticed there's an
:06:35. > :06:39.extra dog, two Nigels, or a Nigel and a half, this is Nell, who is
:06:40. > :06:43.keen on the biscuit. There you are, Nigel. We have seen a bit of her but
:06:44. > :06:48.she's completely naughty, unlike Nigel, so to a certain extent you
:06:49. > :06:51.are a bit of a wild card, aren't you? Come on. Thank goodness Frank
:06:52. > :06:57.Underwood doesn't present Gardeners' World, just watch series one, the
:06:58. > :07:02.first episode. Yes, I know about that, enough said. How cute is Nell?
:07:03. > :07:05.Very sweet. Those are some of the programmes on offer this weekend, we
:07:06. > :07:09.will give you more recommendations later on in the show. Is one of the
:07:10. > :07:18.most enthralling dramas of the year and we're only in two. The Night
:07:19. > :07:24.Manager, a spy thriller based on the novel by John le Carre. What? Your
:07:25. > :07:30.cover is blown sky-high, you are on every wanted list on earth. What are
:07:31. > :07:36.you doing in here? I wonder who you really are? It's so good, here to
:07:37. > :07:44.tell is all about it, one of the show's stars, Alistair Petrie. How
:07:45. > :07:47.are you? Very good. I can't believe was only seen two episodes because I
:07:48. > :07:51.feel so embroiled with it but it feels like there's just stuff
:07:52. > :07:55.bubbling under. You can catch up, make sure you catch up and watch it
:07:56. > :08:00.again this Sunday. Tell is exactly what's going on so far? The Night
:08:01. > :08:03.Manager is based on the novel by John le Carre, obviously, one of the
:08:04. > :08:09.great spy thriller writers of our time. So far, the story concerns Tom
:08:10. > :08:13.Hiddleston, who plays Jonathan, who has been recruited by an offshoot of
:08:14. > :08:20.the secret services to infiltrate the world of Richard Roper, the
:08:21. > :08:25.worst man in the world. It's quite a title, isn't it? Not bad, good for
:08:26. > :08:30.job interviews. There he is, and he's an arms dealer and a very
:08:31. > :08:36.wealthy arms dealer, and thereby hangs the tale. And how do you come
:08:37. > :08:38.wealthy arms dealer, and thereby into it? You play Sunday. Sandy
:08:39. > :08:42.Langbourne, I am Richard Roper is's lawyer, one of his two right-hand
:08:43. > :08:47.men and it is Tom Hiddleston who coined a good phrase, he said you
:08:48. > :08:55.two have drunk from the same cup of poison. Good line. It's very astute.
:08:56. > :09:00.This has such an incredible cast. It does, it's a fabulous group of
:09:01. > :09:06.unknowns. Olivia Colman, we've never heard of her. It's a blessing to
:09:07. > :09:12.first job. It is, it's amazing. The cast list, there isn't anyone I
:09:13. > :09:15.haven't heard of. It's fantastic. What a group. You are attracted to
:09:16. > :09:19.the script and the story and the team that were put together and
:09:20. > :09:23.everyone basically came running. Tellers about Hugh Laurie, he's
:09:24. > :09:29.really sinister in this. The worst is yet to come. Big-time, episode
:09:30. > :09:35.three, not giving anything away, you get a whiff of the team. He's a big
:09:36. > :09:39.fan of John le Carre. He is, he wanted to option the novel when it
:09:40. > :09:43.first came out. He wanted to Blake Tom Huddlestone's part. And he
:09:44. > :09:47.himself would say those days alas were gone but of course there is
:09:48. > :09:52.equally a sensational part to be taken on and as one of the nicest
:09:53. > :09:57.men on the planet to take on the role of the bad guy is, you know...
:09:58. > :10:01.You have your own little storyline going on, not getting on with your
:10:02. > :10:07.wife very well. Yes, that, yes, things are afoot. By Tash and --
:10:08. > :10:15.myself and Natasha Little, who plays my wife, the story starts to unfold.
:10:16. > :10:18.You have been in action films, huge film sets, but this looks like a
:10:19. > :10:24.film. Did it feel like it when you are making it? It really did. We
:10:25. > :10:28.were in exotic locations and we had one director, Susannah beer, an
:10:29. > :10:32.Oscar-winning director, who had -- directed the whole thing and
:10:33. > :10:35.normally you get two different directors so we had continuity. The
:10:36. > :10:41.BBC were extraordinary, they said you guys know what you are doing,
:10:42. > :10:43.get on with it. As did the Americans, because it's a
:10:44. > :10:48.co-production in America. We were incredibly lucky to do it. We get to
:10:49. > :10:55.work in Whiteleys, you get to travel the world. Yes, yes. It's beautiful
:10:56. > :11:01.here, this time of year. I haven't even got shoes on! We have snaps of
:11:02. > :11:08.the amazing places, working hard, that's one of yours. That's 7am, I
:11:09. > :11:13.think. Oh, you typical actor! Was that for the role? No, it wasn't, we
:11:14. > :11:16.were based in Marrakesh for the shooting and one night in Casablanca
:11:17. > :11:24.we shot in the port, an extraordinary location. Can we get
:11:25. > :11:32.that off the screen! That was... That was a day off. We were filming
:11:33. > :11:38.That Revenant. They were my toes, sending it back to my family to stay
:11:39. > :11:42.hard at work,... Really miss you guys. That's actually... Oh, yes,
:11:43. > :11:48.another hard day at the office! LAUGHTER
:11:49. > :11:53.What are you eating there? That's a fish finger sandwich. It doesn't
:11:54. > :11:57.look like it. Might be lobster. It was a day off. When it goes out on
:11:58. > :12:02.the telly, have you been watching it? Do you like to see things and
:12:03. > :12:05.how they have been put together? You get bits and bobs during the
:12:06. > :12:09.postproduction phase but you want to watch it with the audience and
:12:10. > :12:13.because of the nature of social media you get this instant feedback
:12:14. > :12:17.on how people are embracing the show and going with the show and to watch
:12:18. > :12:22.it as the audience do is terribly exciting. I haven't seen it, I'm
:12:23. > :12:26.watching it as an episode week by week. Apart from watching yourself
:12:27. > :12:34.on television, which obviously you do a lot of, do you watch any other
:12:35. > :12:38.TV? Just me. I have a family so my boys, it's a birthday tomorrow,
:12:39. > :12:43.happy birthday for tomorrow, but my eldest as well is now nearly 16 soak
:12:44. > :12:47.he has immense incredible taste when it comes to drama, so we get to sit
:12:48. > :12:51.on the safer as a family. I'd argue there isn't too much TV, there is
:12:52. > :12:54.just fantastic TV on, something for everybody, and the drama series is
:12:55. > :12:59.second to none so we are exploring those as a family, which is great.
:13:00. > :13:02.You mentioned earlier that when you did the first read-through for the
:13:03. > :13:11.script there was a mystery person in the room who introduced themselves?
:13:12. > :13:13.An extraordinary group of people, the cast list, going around
:13:14. > :13:15.introducing ourselves before we read the script and we had costumes,
:13:16. > :13:19.props, everyone goes around the table, the usual thing during a
:13:20. > :13:22.first read-through and there was an elderly, elegant gentleman sitting
:13:23. > :13:26.at the end of the table and we all had our nametags in front of us and
:13:27. > :13:30.his said David Cornwell and we thought, who's that? It got to him
:13:31. > :13:35.and he said my name is David Cornwell and I wrote the novel. We
:13:36. > :13:41.all went, I'll! It's him! Its John le Carre, we were all terribly
:13:42. > :13:46.starstruck. He was on such quite a lot? He was on set, a big supporter
:13:47. > :13:56.of the peace and if you look carefully, he does appear. Yes, so #
:13:57. > :14:02.I spotted David Cornwall. He does appear so spot him, if you can.
:14:03. > :14:08.Episode three of six Will air this Sunday, 9pm, BBC One, we can't wait.
:14:09. > :14:10.It's fantastic. You will hang around to host the Friday quiz. Thank you
:14:11. > :14:20.very much. I am just hearing from the director
:14:21. > :14:27.we can get some shots on screen, is that right? Police in America have
:14:28. > :14:32.revealed they are testing and knife found at the former home of OJ
:14:33. > :14:37.Simpson, it is all over TV news as you can see from these incredible
:14:38. > :14:44.pictures, could this have more twists 21 years on? Unbelievable. On
:14:45. > :14:49.Monday at 9pm on BBC Two they have been airing the people versus OJ
:14:50. > :14:56.Simpson, American crime drama, it is a fictionalised drama and this is
:14:57. > :15:03.what you have been saying about it. What is your name? How many years
:15:04. > :15:14.where you married to Nicole Brown Simpson? Seven. Have you ever
:15:15. > :15:17.thought about killing the call? No. It is very much a series that you
:15:18. > :15:23.didn't want to like but somehow it is compelling viewing. We are here
:15:24. > :15:29.because of the death of your ex-wife. We found a trail of blood.
:15:30. > :15:33.Because you know the outcome I think it takes away the element of the
:15:34. > :15:40.unknown but that said I have been drawn into the drama and it is very
:15:41. > :15:48.insightful and compelling. Pretty crazy, they made him black. It is so
:15:49. > :15:53.heartfelt and emotional that it did make me question if he really did
:15:54. > :15:57.it. I couldn't have done it, I swear, there is no way I could have
:15:58. > :16:06.killed her, Norway. She was the centre my world. John Travolta as
:16:07. > :16:15.Robert Shapiro is superb. He is almost like a weasel type character,
:16:16. > :16:21.devious but very good at his job. Do you see what I am up against here?
:16:22. > :16:27.His eyebrows are very odd. I don't quite know what he's done with them.
:16:28. > :16:37.Don't rush to judgment. David Schwimmer, we are so used to seeing
:16:38. > :16:44.him as Ross from Friends but he does play the part well.
:16:45. > :16:51.I love the opening scene on Monday when he is talking to his children.
:16:52. > :16:56.In this family being a good person and loyal friend is more important
:16:57. > :17:03.than being famous, theme is fleeting and hollow, it means nothing at all
:17:04. > :17:08.without a virtuous heart. They just did that so people would think it is
:17:09. > :17:12.ironic that they are famous now. This series is not about OJ Simpson
:17:13. > :17:17.I don't think, there is so much coming out in terms of particularly
:17:18. > :17:22.the legal system, the LAPD and how manipulative lawyers can be and that
:17:23. > :17:28.for me is one of the reasons why I shall continue to watch this
:17:29. > :17:32.programme. Very good, we said it was drama night tonight and we are
:17:33. > :17:39.joined by the star of Shetland, with the big Ali on our screens here to
:17:40. > :17:44.tell us about it is Detective Sergeant Alison McIntosh, AKA Alison
:17:45. > :17:52.O'Donnell. For people who haven't seen it what is it all about? It is
:17:53. > :17:58.based on a brilliant series of books by the same name which were about a
:17:59. > :18:02.detective inspector Jimmy Perez, played by Douglas Henshall, it is
:18:03. > :18:10.him and his team solving crime on Shetland. It is your first sort of
:18:11. > :18:15.big role isn't it? Yes to be honest I haven't done much TV at all, so it
:18:16. > :18:19.was a bit of a shock to get the part and a sharp learning curve. I turned
:18:20. > :18:22.up on set and they did not honestly know what I was doing but everyone
:18:23. > :18:27.was really kind and helpful and I think I have just about got the hang
:18:28. > :18:30.of it. You look like you know what you are doing, the last episode
:18:31. > :18:34.ended on this cliffhanger. If Michael Thompson had not been shot
:18:35. > :18:40.MacColl was looking at life in prison. Every time he has
:18:41. > :18:46.investigated his business sufferers. Think about it, if you had a senior
:18:47. > :18:53.fiscal in your pocket wouldn't you expect better protection than this?
:18:54. > :18:57.What if it is not MacColl who has been benefiting from the protection?
:18:58. > :19:10.Then who? Very good, dramatic. Is it changed
:19:11. > :19:17.slightly, the first series would be different murders but this has been
:19:18. > :19:20.one long complicated case. Exactly, in the previous use all the stories
:19:21. > :19:23.were wrapped up over two hours but this is one long-running story over
:19:24. > :19:29.six episodes which I think has worked really well. It really has.
:19:30. > :19:34.Has it felt different forming at like that? You don't have to keep
:19:35. > :19:39.setting up new characters and stories so space opens to develop
:19:40. > :19:44.other things. Our characters, the long-running characters got to do a
:19:45. > :19:48.bit more which was really nice. There is a great report on and off
:19:49. > :19:57.screen that daddy is an amazing actor -- that Douglas Henshall. I
:19:58. > :20:03.learn something everyday from watching him and he is as wonderful
:20:04. > :20:09.human being as he an actor. When you are not acting in the scenes you are
:20:10. > :20:12.singing show tunes apparently? One time we were filming on a tiny
:20:13. > :20:22.island about 20 minutes by plane from the mainland. Population of 50
:20:23. > :20:30.people? I think about 70. And lots of sheep! It's an incredible place,
:20:31. > :20:36.magical in the middle of the ocean. What happened? We were there filming
:20:37. > :20:40.and in between scenes it turned out, you'll was in a famous production of
:20:41. > :20:46.guys and dolls at the National Theatre, and I did it at school and
:20:47. > :20:49.so we ended up singing a few songs and I looked around and I thought I
:20:50. > :20:54.am in this incredible setting with these amazing guys and I thought I
:20:55. > :21:03.need to remember this. Do you fancy giving us a song now? No! For fans
:21:04. > :21:10.of the show, did Julia Merce yourself in the island? For a six
:21:11. > :21:14.episode series we will spend about six weeks on Shetland so it's quite
:21:15. > :21:19.a long time, it is like a second home, I have got to know it so well.
:21:20. > :21:22.There is something nice about being on location because you are away
:21:23. > :21:29.from family and friends and distractions. Does it add to the
:21:30. > :21:33.performance because it becomes so immersive? Yes, especially because
:21:34. > :21:37.the location of the programme is so important, the setting is such a big
:21:38. > :21:41.character in itself so it is made is to be there in the place it is set
:21:42. > :21:46.and really soak up the atmosphere. Quickly, a lot of people are worried
