0:18:14 > 0:18:19- But sometimes it proves difficult - to transport patients to hospital.

0:18:30 > 0:18:34- In 2004, Rachel Thomas - was expecting her second child.

0:18:34 > 0:18:38- Three months into the pregnancy, - she started bleeding.

0:18:38 > 0:18:42- The family - was living in Dolgellau at the time.

0:18:43 > 0:18:47- I went to the toilet - and found blood.

0:18:48 > 0:18:50- I went to see the doctor...

0:18:50 > 0:18:54- ..who said - I had to be admitted to hospital.

0:18:54 > 0:18:58- She was given a scan - and it was bad news.

0:19:01 > 0:19:05- They gave me a scan, - but there was no baby.

0:19:05 > 0:19:07- It had died.

0:19:10 > 0:19:15- The following day, she was resting - at home when she started bleeding.

0:19:15 > 0:19:18- I went into our bedroom...

0:19:19 > 0:19:23- ..and Rachel was on the bed, - bleeding everywhere.

0:19:24 > 0:19:26- It was a pitiful sight.

0:19:30 > 0:19:34- Her husband, Robert, - phoned the doctor in panic.

0:19:39 > 0:19:43- The doctor came to see me and - told me I had to go to hospital...

0:19:44 > 0:19:47- ..because I was losing - more and more blood.

0:19:51 > 0:19:54- The paramedic told the doctor...

0:19:54 > 0:19:58- .."We need - an air ambulance quickly, doctor."

0:19:58 > 0:20:03- They whisked Rachel - straightaway to the playing field...

0:20:04 > 0:20:06- ..where the air ambulance - was waiting.

0:20:09 > 0:20:12- The helicopter landed - on Dolgellau's rugby pitch.

0:20:15 > 0:20:19- I felt happy - once I was in the helicopter...

0:20:20 > 0:20:25- ..because I knew it'd only take - a short while to get to hospital.

0:20:25 > 0:20:30- They were talking to me - and laughing with me.

0:20:33 > 0:20:37- She was taken by helicopter - to Ysbyty Maelor, Wrexham.

0:20:37 > 0:20:40- Her condition - deteriorated upon arrival.

0:20:45 > 0:20:47- Once I'd arrived in the hospital...

0:20:47 > 0:20:50- ..I had severe pain in my belly.

0:20:51 > 0:20:54- I felt awful.

0:21:00 > 0:21:05- ..and they were trying - to get it back up.

0:21:05 > 0:21:09- If the blood pressure - didn't increase...

0:21:09 > 0:21:11- ..there was a likelihood - I would die.

0:21:12 > 0:21:15- Rachel had - an urgent blood transfusion...

0:21:15 > 0:21:19- ..and was transferred - to intensive care.

0:21:19 > 0:21:22- I thought, "This is it for Rachel.

0:21:23 > 0:21:26- "Rachel's going to die. - What am I going to do now?"

0:21:26 > 0:21:29- Without the air ambulance...

0:21:31 > 0:21:33- ..Rachel would be dead.

0:21:39 > 0:21:43- But she pulled through.

0:21:43 > 0:21:48- Since losing the baby, they've gone - on to have three other children.

0:21:49 > 0:21:54- Two weeks after leaving hospital, - I decided I wanted another baby.

0:21:54 > 0:21:59- Soon after, I booked a holiday - in the Lake District.

0:21:59 > 0:22:05- While I was there, I found out - I was pregnant with another baby.

0:22:06 > 0:22:09- Rachel is now pregnant again...
