0:00:22 > 0:00:25- I started in 1975 - when I was thirteen years of age.

0:00:25 > 0:00:28- I went for a walk down - to an old dump in Caernarfon.

0:00:28 > 0:00:31- I noticed that people - had been digging...

0:00:31 > 0:00:34- ..and had left some - of their findings there.

0:00:34 > 0:00:37- Even though they were mostly - rubbish, I took them home.

0:00:38 > 0:00:40- That's how my interest began.

0:00:40 > 0:00:44- Soon after, I came across - someone digging in the area.

0:00:45 > 0:00:48- While I was chatting to him - for the first time...

0:00:48 > 0:00:51- ..he dug up an old bottle - - a local one from Llanberis.

0:00:51 > 0:00:55- I was fascinated by it. - I became hooked after that.

0:00:55 > 0:01:00- I wanted to dig up some - bottles myself, so I went digging!

0:01:08 > 0:01:11- For the past six years, we've - been going there now and then...

0:01:12 > 0:01:16- ..digging holes.

0:01:16 > 0:01:20- When I was eleven, one of my - mother's friends son was a digger.

0:01:20 > 0:01:23- He was five years older than me.

0:01:23 > 0:01:27- I tended to scrape and scratch the - surface rather than digging holes.

0:01:28 > 0:01:32- I found a local bottle from - the Dolbadarn Hotel in Llanberis.

0:01:32 > 0:01:37- It was fantastic to dig up - something local like that.

0:01:44 > 0:01:49- We choose an area - by looking at old maps...

0:01:49 > 0:01:52- ..and old records - that are held in the record office.

0:01:53 > 0:01:57- There's a large community of us - across Wales.

0:01:57 > 0:02:00- Some people collect and don't dig.

0:02:00 > 0:02:06- Then there are people like us - who dig and collect.

0:02:06 > 0:02:10- There are also people who just dig - and then sell their findings.

0:02:13 > 0:02:19- The best bottles - are worth thousands.

0:02:19 > 0:02:24- We don't often come across those.

0:02:24 > 0:02:27- Most of the items we dig - go back in the hole...

0:02:27 > 0:02:30- ..because they're not worth - bringing home.

0:02:33 > 0:02:37- Other items we bring home - could be worth a few pounds.

0:02:38 > 0:02:41- Some could be worth - around ten to twenty pounds.

0:02:41 > 0:02:43- It depends what they are.

0:02:43 > 0:02:48- Most of the items - aren't particularly valuable.

0:02:48 > 0:02:52- Their historic value - is what's most important to us.

0:02:52 > 0:02:56- If something is worth - a lot of money, that's a bonus.

0:03:25 > 0:03:27- S4C Subtitles by Testun Cyf.
