0:00:11 > 0:00:15- I used to like swimming and cycling, - and playing my guitar.

0:00:15 > 0:00:17- I used to like painting.

0:00:17 > 0:00:21- I wouldn't call myself a musician - or an artist, but I enjoyed them.

0:00:22 > 0:00:24- In 2006, it all came to an end.

0:00:25 > 0:00:27- I could hardly walk or breathe.

0:00:34 > 0:00:36- I had a cardiac arrest.

0:00:36 > 0:00:42- There wasn't enough strength in - the heart muscle to pump the blood.

0:00:44 > 0:00:46- My heart stopped.

0:00:46 > 0:00:49- So, in truth, I died.

0:00:53 > 0:00:57- It turned out that I'd had - the disease for about 25 years.

0:00:57 > 0:01:00- But it got worse gradually.

0:01:02 > 0:01:05- What went through my mind - while all this was happening...

0:01:06 > 0:01:09- ..was that my quality of life - at the time was very poor.

0:01:10 > 0:01:13- Whatever they did to me - didn't frighten me at all.

0:01:13 > 0:01:17- I just thought that one - of two things could happen here.

0:01:17 > 0:01:21- I was either going to die - or I was going to get better.

0:01:21 > 0:01:25- I didn't want to live the way I'd - lived for the previous four years.

0:01:25 > 0:01:28- So, I was quite laid back - about everything.

0:01:28 > 0:01:32- I didn't care what they did, - as long as they made me better.

0:01:37 > 0:01:40- The question I've considered - more than once...

0:01:40 > 0:01:43- ..is who was the person - who gave me this heart.

0:01:43 > 0:01:46- Who is their family? - What's their story?

0:01:46 > 0:01:50- Up to now, - I've chosen not to know...

0:01:50 > 0:01:53- ..how old the person was...

0:01:53 > 0:01:57- ..how they died and whether - they were male or female.

0:01:58 > 0:02:02- I've chosen not to know, - because once you know...

0:02:03 > 0:02:05- ..you can't get rid - of that knowledge.

0:02:10 > 0:02:13- I have big plans. - I'm looking forward to the future.

0:02:13 > 0:02:17- I look forward to waking up - every morning. I'm full of energy.

0:02:17 > 0:02:23- Of course, I'm restricted - in what I can do at the moment...

0:02:23 > 0:02:27- ..but I'm confident - about the way things are going.

0:02:27 > 0:02:32- I can already do a lot more - than I could six months ago.

0:02:36 > 0:02:40- Of course, I've been very lucky - to get a second chance.

0:02:46 > 0:02:51- If someone asked me - to donate my organs...

0:02:51 > 0:02:54- ..to a good cause or for research...

0:02:54 > 0:02:57- ..or to give to someone - who needed them...
