0:00:41 > 0:00:45- All of a sudden, something red - whizzed down the river.

0:00:46 > 0:00:49- An otter. A red otter.

0:00:49 > 0:00:52- Not a brown otter, but a red one.

0:00:52 > 0:00:55- "Oh", Dei said to Twm. - "Did you see that?"

0:00:55 > 0:00:58- "If we see it again, - we'll go after it and catch it.

0:00:59 > 0:01:03- "It's rare. People will pay money - to come and see it."

0:01:03 > 0:01:05- They carried on fishing.

0:01:05 > 0:01:09- All of a sudden, the red otter - swam back up the river.

0:01:10 > 0:01:14- Dei and Twm went after it. - Splish, splash, splish, splash.

0:01:14 > 0:01:20- The otter jumped into a hollow tree - and Dei and Twm put a sack over it.

0:01:20 > 0:01:23- They used a stick to hit - the bottom of the tree. Bang, bang.

0:01:24 > 0:01:27- Suddenly, the red otter - jumped out into the sack.

0:01:27 > 0:01:31- "Hooray", said Dei and Twm. - "We've caught the red otter!"

0:01:31 > 0:01:33- One of them puts the sack - over his shoulder...

0:01:34 > 0:01:38- ..and they walk back saying, - "We're going to make a fortune!"

0:01:39 > 0:01:44- I feel that narrating - traditional tales and stories...

0:01:45 > 0:01:50- ..is a way for children to learn - about the history of their area.

0:01:51 > 0:01:55- It gives them a geographical point - as to where they belong.

0:01:55 > 0:02:00- They know about the world and where - Australia and America are located.

0:02:00 > 0:02:04- But perhaps they don't know - the names of villages...

0:02:04 > 0:02:06- ..which are five miles - down the road.

0:02:07 > 0:02:09- "You wait until my mother - comes to find me."

0:02:10 > 0:02:14- It wasn't any old red otter. - It could talk.

0:02:14 > 0:02:17- "It talks! We'll make a fortune!"

0:02:18 > 0:02:19- They open the sack.

0:02:19 > 0:02:25- Dei peers inside - and something spits in his eye.

0:02:25 > 0:02:31- Twm looks inside and something - spits into his eye as well.

0:02:31 > 0:02:33- Their eyes burn.

0:02:34 > 0:02:40- Not every child is read to - by their parents or grandparents.

0:02:41 > 0:02:44- In a way, I can fulfil that role.

0:02:45 > 0:02:48- Something jumps out of the sack.

0:02:49 > 0:02:53- It's a little man, - about this height.

0:02:53 > 0:02:58- Red shoes, red trousers, - red waistcoat and a red hat.

0:02:58 > 0:03:01- "You wait until my mother - comes to find me."

0:03:01 > 0:03:03- He spits into the other two eyes.

0:03:04 > 0:03:08- He swims down the river, splish, - splash, between the reeds...

0:03:08 > 0:03:09- ..exactly like an otter.

0:03:10 > 0:03:13- Dei and Twm run all the way home - to Llanegryn.

0:03:13 > 0:03:16- They jump into bed and - pull the duvet over their heads.

0:03:16 > 0:03:20- They never went fishing - on the banks of the river Pennant...

0:03:20 > 0:03:23- ..nor went running - after otters ever again.
