0:07:33 > 0:07:39# Every single day I'm blown away... #

0:09:25 > 0:09:29We work between the hours of seven at night to seven in the morning.

0:09:29 > 0:09:34If some package has to go to Dublin, Galway, Derry, Belfast, whatever,

0:09:34 > 0:09:39we would contact, or the hospital would contact, our coordinator.

0:09:39 > 0:09:41The coordinator would contact the rider,

0:09:41 > 0:09:44say, for example, myself, to see if I'm able to go

0:09:44 > 0:09:47and what time I'm able to go at.

0:09:47 > 0:09:49When I tell him that I can go,

0:09:49 > 0:09:52he then contacts, for instance, Dublin,

0:09:52 > 0:09:55to see if a rider can come and meet me,

0:09:55 > 0:09:58and meet up with the rider from Dublin.

0:10:00 > 0:10:02And why do you do it, John Joe?

0:10:02 > 0:10:03Um...

0:10:03 > 0:10:05It sort of keeps me...

0:10:05 > 0:10:08It keeps me on the bike, for a start, and it's something decent,

0:10:08 > 0:10:12it's giving something back again to the community.

0:10:12 > 0:10:15Is it something you get a buzz off, the fact that you're helping out

0:10:15 > 0:10:17- and that you're providing a useful service?- You do, you do.

0:10:17 > 0:10:20By the time you get back and you know you've done something,

0:10:20 > 0:10:23you may have helped save someone's life, you know,

0:10:23 > 0:10:25so it gives you a good feeling.

0:14:01 > 0:14:04- You've been nominated to talk today.- Yeah.

0:14:04 > 0:14:07Is it a democratic family here in Cup O'Joe?

0:14:07 > 0:14:09No, not really.

0:14:09 > 0:14:15No, not really at all! Tabatha is the main boss and she nominated me.

0:14:15 > 0:14:16That is good to know.

0:14:16 > 0:14:20How did you all get into bluegrass and gypsy jazz music?

0:14:20 > 0:14:23Well, we grew up going to the Omagh Bluegrass Festival.

0:14:23 > 0:14:26That's how we kind of got introduced to the bluegrass,

0:14:26 > 0:14:29and with gypsy jazz it kind of lends itself to bluegrass

0:14:29 > 0:14:32and we found that within the bluegrass circles.

0:14:32 > 0:14:34But it's one thing to be introduced to a type of music

0:14:34 > 0:14:37and another to be completely consumed by it,

0:14:37 > 0:14:40so what is it about this style of music that keeps you wanting more?

0:14:40 > 0:14:43I think it's just the people that you meet

0:14:43 > 0:14:46and it's the jams that you get into, and playing together with people,

0:14:46 > 0:14:49learning the same tunes, things like that.

0:14:49 > 0:14:52And I suppose it's kind of like the Irish traditional music,

0:14:52 > 0:14:53you just have a...

0:14:53 > 0:14:56There's like a family, almost, of musicians

0:14:56 > 0:14:58and everybody knows each other,

0:14:58 > 0:15:01and I think that's the main thing for us.

0:15:01 > 0:15:04Yeah, it's a very healthy scene. And where your music is concerned,

0:15:04 > 0:15:07you do compose and write some of your own music

0:15:07 > 0:15:09but you also do a lot of research.

0:15:09 > 0:15:11What sources do you use?

0:15:11 > 0:15:15Yeah, well, we use... YouTube would be a pretty big one

0:15:15 > 0:15:18and of course seeing different bands out live,

0:15:18 > 0:15:21but we would listen to a wide range of stuff

0:15:21 > 0:15:24and then, when we're writing a song,

0:15:24 > 0:15:28try to incorporate a good bit into the song, so...

0:15:28 > 0:15:31You received a massive boost last year as well

0:15:31 > 0:15:34with the nomination for the BBC Radio 2 Young Folk Awards.

0:15:34 > 0:15:36Just what opportunities did that bring you?

0:15:36 > 0:15:39Yeah, that was amazing. We...

0:15:39 > 0:15:43It probably brought us closer to the scene in England

0:15:43 > 0:15:48and we've been asked over to England five or six times to festivals

0:15:48 > 0:15:53- and it's really boosted our gig and festival...- Presence?

0:15:53 > 0:15:56- Presence, yeah.- And a lot of contacts as well, I'm presuming.

0:15:56 > 0:16:00A lot of contacts, yeah, and a lot of other musicians that we can meet

0:16:00 > 0:16:02and can play with and get better with

0:16:02 > 0:16:04and, yeah, a massive boost to us.

0:16:04 > 0:16:08Are there any big plans to go into the recording studio any time soon?

0:16:08 > 0:16:12Yes, we hope to go into the recording studio in the near future.

0:16:12 > 0:16:15There's a studio in England with a guy called Leon Hunt,

0:16:15 > 0:16:18and we're hoping to go in with him pretty soon.

0:16:18 > 0:16:19Just a guy called Leon Hunt,

0:16:19 > 0:16:21one of the best banjo players in the world, but...

0:16:21 > 0:16:24I look forward to hearing the results of that collaboration.

0:16:24 > 0:16:26Thank you very much for coming in.

0:19:20 > 0:19:22What's great for Conor in this here

0:19:22 > 0:19:25is he has a lot more in common with his peers,

0:19:25 > 0:19:27so where he would be at school,

0:19:27 > 0:19:31he wouldn't maybe have the familiarity of talking to people

0:19:31 > 0:19:34about different disabilities and what problems they go through,

0:19:34 > 0:19:37where an outlet like this is great for them, you know.

0:19:37 > 0:19:39So they're getting the sport, plus they're getting

0:19:39 > 0:19:42that peer advice as well, so it's great for them all.
