0:01:00 > 0:01:02APPLAUSE

0:09:26 > 0:09:28Well, we're in this market here since

0:09:28 > 0:09:31they opened it. It's nearly 40 years.

0:09:31 > 0:09:34But I spent 15 or 20 across the road

0:09:34 > 0:09:36to bring it up to 60.

0:09:36 > 0:09:39We're the oldest family in the market.

0:09:39 > 0:09:41So, fruit and veg? How did that come about?

0:09:41 > 0:09:43That's from my mother's side.

0:09:43 > 0:09:45On my father's side they were dealers -

0:09:45 > 0:09:47poultry, delph and horses.

0:09:47 > 0:09:50So I couldn't go wrong, sure I couldn't.

0:09:50 > 0:09:52Both dealers on both sides.

0:09:52 > 0:09:54Were you sent in to work here, then, in the market

0:09:54 > 0:09:55whenever your father passed away?

0:09:55 > 0:09:59I was kept out of school to deliver stuff Tuesdays and Fridays

0:09:59 > 0:10:01from my mother's shop.

0:10:01 > 0:10:03I didn't want to work in this job at all.

0:10:03 > 0:10:06I was more interested in motors at 17, 18.

0:10:06 > 0:10:07I thought it was humming.

0:10:22 > 0:10:26They come from all round, all walks of life.

0:10:26 > 0:10:29We've been serving them for 40, 50 years.

0:10:29 > 0:10:31Do you find that people will come here, buy their produce here

0:10:31 > 0:10:33rather than go to the supermarket?

0:10:33 > 0:10:35Well, this was all in the ground yesterday,

0:10:35 > 0:10:38and it's in here this morning.

0:10:38 > 0:10:43Spuds, carrots, cabbage, caulis. You name it. All the green stuff.

0:10:43 > 0:10:45People like that.

0:10:45 > 0:10:47You wouldn't get this anywhere...

0:10:47 > 0:10:50I don't care what part of Ireland you go to,

0:10:50 > 0:10:54there's real human characters and everything about here.

0:10:54 > 0:10:55It's fantastic.

0:18:42 > 0:18:46A couple of Canadian guys had the idea of putting a hockey team in here.

0:18:46 > 0:18:48Nobody had any idea if there was going to be success at the time.

0:18:48 > 0:18:50I remember the stories about the first game,

0:18:50 > 0:18:52where they were trying to give tickets away

0:18:52 > 0:18:54because they had no idea if anybody was going to come.

0:18:54 > 0:18:55And it sold out instantly.

0:18:55 > 0:18:58This month the Friendship Four tournament is coming to Belfast.

0:18:58 > 0:19:00Also, the World Championships in the spring.

0:19:00 > 0:19:03How important are international competitions to raise the profile of the sport?

0:19:03 > 0:19:05I think they're huge. I think it says a lot about the sport

0:19:05 > 0:19:07and a lot about Belfast. I think the Friendship Four,

0:19:07 > 0:19:10it's the first time the US colleges have ever travelled

0:19:10 > 0:19:12outside of the US to play for league points.

0:19:12 > 0:19:15And it's the first time in 28 years we've held the World Championships.

0:19:15 > 0:19:1816 years ago it might have been difficult to do here in Belfast.

0:19:18 > 0:19:20And I think that shows how far we've come, so we're really excited.

0:19:20 > 0:19:23Most of the players at the moment are from North America.

0:19:23 > 0:19:26But there are projects in place to get more local guys coming through the ranks.

0:19:26 > 0:19:29Yes, in Dundonald we've got our Junior Giants programme.

0:19:29 > 0:19:31It's growing. I think there's over 200 kids in it,

0:19:31 > 0:19:33getting close to 200 kids, boys and girls.

0:19:33 > 0:19:35We'd like to see some kids coming up through the system

0:19:35 > 0:19:39and playing for the Giants that are local. That's our ultimate goal.

0:23:25 > 0:23:27# Sink it in whiskey
