0:00:10 > 0:00:13I must tell you, I would never dream normally

0:00:13 > 0:00:17of doing an election broadcast for any particular political party

0:00:17 > 0:00:20even though I believe passionately in Labour values.

0:00:20 > 0:00:24But I'm so angry about the way the National Health Service is going,

0:00:24 > 0:00:27I feel so strongly about what's happening, I feel that I need

0:00:27 > 0:00:31to stand up and say very clearly why it's important to vote Labour.

0:00:31 > 0:00:33Before the general election,

0:00:33 > 0:00:37David Cameron said he could be trusted with the NHS.

0:00:37 > 0:00:41He said he'd protect the front line at all costs.

0:00:42 > 0:00:45We now know that wasn't true.

0:00:45 > 0:00:49When he still needed your vote, David Cameron promised

0:00:49 > 0:00:53no more top-down reorganisations of the health service,

0:00:53 > 0:00:58and he wrote that pledge into the coalition agreement in black and white.

0:00:58 > 0:01:00As soon as David Cameron got in,

0:01:00 > 0:01:03he launched the biggest top-down reorganisation

0:01:03 > 0:01:05in the history of the NHS.

0:01:05 > 0:01:10Independent estimates put the cost of this wasteful exercise

0:01:10 > 0:01:12at up to £3 billion.

0:01:12 > 0:01:15I feel passionately that the NHS is the right care system

0:01:15 > 0:01:20and to see that gradually being dismantled breaks my heart.

0:01:20 > 0:01:22And did he protect those people on the front line

0:01:22 > 0:01:25who work so hard for us all?

0:01:25 > 0:01:28I'm afraid he didn't.

0:01:28 > 0:01:33He's laid off more than 4,000 nurses since he got into Downing Street

0:01:33 > 0:01:37and thousands more are set to lose their jobs in the coming years.

0:01:37 > 0:01:41Is that really the change he said he'd bring?

0:01:41 > 0:01:42It's very scary

0:01:42 > 0:01:46because children walking around today are proof that the NHS works.

0:01:46 > 0:01:49I'd hate it all to come to a bad end.

0:01:49 > 0:01:52Before the election, David Cameron visited hospitals

0:01:52 > 0:01:55up and down the country promising not to close services.

0:01:55 > 0:01:58When he needed your vote, that's what he told you.

0:01:58 > 0:02:02But now, services are set to shut down.

0:02:02 > 0:02:07The NHS deals with us when we're at our most vulnerable,

0:02:07 > 0:02:09at our most frightened,

0:02:09 > 0:02:13when we're naked and faced with uncertainty.

0:02:13 > 0:02:20We need nurses and doctors who have time to listen to us and to care.

0:02:20 > 0:02:22In these local elections,

0:02:22 > 0:02:28you can vote for the National Health Service, to protect it.

0:02:28 > 0:02:29To improve it.

0:02:29 > 0:02:32Labour would get back to reducing waiting times,

0:02:32 > 0:02:37improving the quality of care and would stop nurses being laid off.

0:02:37 > 0:02:43On Thursday May 3rd, vote NHS, vote Labour.
