0:00:10 > 0:00:12We're outside Bombardier here in Derby,

0:00:12 > 0:00:14Britain's last train manufacturer.

0:00:14 > 0:00:17They've had to cut their workforce by nearly half in the last year.

0:00:17 > 0:00:20They are now surviving on short-term contracts.

0:00:20 > 0:00:23The people of Derby are incensed that our Government

0:00:23 > 0:00:24has let down our railway industry.

0:00:24 > 0:00:29And why? So that multibillion-pound contracts for rolling stock

0:00:29 > 0:00:31that are going to run on British railways

0:00:31 > 0:00:33can be awarded to foreign competitors.

0:00:33 > 0:00:35Like most people, we had to start at the bottom.

0:00:35 > 0:00:39We thought the Conservative Party was the natural party

0:00:39 > 0:00:42for the strivers, the go-getters,

0:00:42 > 0:00:44the party for low taxation and less state interference.

0:00:44 > 0:00:49But over time, it has just become another tax and spend party,

0:00:49 > 0:00:52taking more and more of people's money

0:00:52 > 0:00:54and not giving any help to those working families.

0:00:54 > 0:00:57There are a huge number of people like us,

0:00:57 > 0:00:58who feel that the main parties,

0:00:58 > 0:01:00to which they have been loyal for many years,

0:01:00 > 0:01:03just aren't representing them any more.

0:01:03 > 0:01:05We now see UKIP as the natural home for

0:01:05 > 0:01:08previous Conservative voters like us

0:01:08 > 0:01:12who want a party that genuinely and passionately believes in

0:01:12 > 0:01:15taxing people less, promoting wealth creation

0:01:15 > 0:01:17and a party, above all, that says,

0:01:17 > 0:01:20"If we're going to make laws for this country,

0:01:20 > 0:01:22"they should be made IN this country."

0:01:22 > 0:01:24I was a Labour councillor for 14 years

0:01:24 > 0:01:28when I decided to join UKIP because UKIP believes in its country

0:01:28 > 0:01:32and its people. It believes in genuine localism

0:01:32 > 0:01:34and bringing power back to the heart of the community

0:01:34 > 0:01:35without toeing the party line.

0:01:36 > 0:01:39All over the country, from every walk of life,

0:01:39 > 0:01:41people like you are turning to UKIP and saying,

0:01:41 > 0:01:43"Enough's enough. It's time we got our country back."

0:01:43 > 0:01:46And because of that, we have overtaken the Lib Dems

0:01:46 > 0:01:48and we're now third in the polls.

0:01:48 > 0:01:50If you go out on May 3rd and vote UKIP,

0:01:50 > 0:01:54you are voting to take power away from professional career politicians

0:01:54 > 0:01:57in Brussels and Westminster and to return it to the people.

0:01:57 > 0:01:59Last year in Ramsey in Cambridgeshire,

0:01:59 > 0:02:02we took control of a town council for the first time,

0:02:02 > 0:02:04and there, we've been able to show people

0:02:04 > 0:02:06what we are really capable of.

0:02:06 > 0:02:08In local government, UKIP has two key principles -

0:02:08 > 0:02:13community before party and what we call rolling up your sleeves.

0:02:13 > 0:02:15Community before party

0:02:15 > 0:02:17is making sure that every one of our councillors

0:02:17 > 0:02:21are there for their community, not the party line.

0:02:21 > 0:02:24Rolling up your sleeves does as it sounds.

0:02:24 > 0:02:27It's about allowing people to be involved.

0:02:27 > 0:02:28And what's wonderful about that

0:02:28 > 0:02:31is not just that it builds a better community.

0:02:31 > 0:02:34but it also means we have to charge less tax.

0:02:34 > 0:02:36And, of course, that's what it's all about.

0:02:36 > 0:02:39There is far far too much bureaucracy in local government.

0:02:39 > 0:02:41We have too many professional politicians

0:02:41 > 0:02:44and by getting the people involved, we can cuts costs.

0:02:44 > 0:02:47By cutting costs, that money can go back into our communities

0:02:47 > 0:02:49and our people can spend it in their towns.

0:02:49 > 0:02:52I think it's been good for the town itself.

0:02:52 > 0:02:56We've noticed that policing's better in the town, you know.

0:02:56 > 0:02:59Yeah, it's more visible. Erm, the town's a lot tidier.

0:02:59 > 0:03:01If you elect a UKIP council,

0:03:01 > 0:03:04you're electing a council that will fight for the green belt

0:03:04 > 0:03:07and stop the building of wind turbines.

0:03:07 > 0:03:09It's a council that will regenerate town centres

0:03:09 > 0:03:11and tackle antisocial behaviour

0:03:11 > 0:03:15and the things that really cause people a problem in their lives.

0:03:15 > 0:03:18The definition of madness is doing the same thing over and over

0:03:18 > 0:03:19and expecting a different result.

0:03:19 > 0:03:22If you go out and vote for the old parties on May 3rd,

0:03:22 > 0:03:23you will get more failure.

0:03:23 > 0:03:25Failure on jobs, immigration, crime

0:03:25 > 0:03:27and the prospects for our young people.

0:03:27 > 0:03:31It's time for a real change. It's time for the politics of conviction.

0:03:31 > 0:03:33It's time for a party that says,

0:03:33 > 0:03:36"We will put the interests of the British people first."

0:03:36 > 0:03:40Go out on May 3rd and vote for the UK Independence Party.
