:00:35. > :00:38.Hello, and a very good evening from St James's Park,

:00:39. > :00:44.on this our final day's celebration for Her Majesty's 90th

:00:45. > :00:52.We've been spoilt with some wonderful scenes already

:00:53. > :00:57.The crowds were six or seven deep on the pavements around

:00:58. > :01:00.St Paul's Cathedral on Friday and yesterday they stretched as far

:01:01. > :01:07.Today was no exception, as the famous red road was transformed

:01:08. > :01:18.I'm joined here in St James's Park by Darcey Bussell,

:01:19. > :01:26.Lesley Garrett and Katie Nicholl. Thanks for staying on. Katie Nicholl

:01:27. > :01:30.from the Mail on Sunday, first of all, you have been here for much of

:01:31. > :01:35.the weekend, what particularly struck you about the days events? I

:01:36. > :01:41.loved today's events, the royal walkabout was so special, seeing all

:01:42. > :01:46.of the Royal family greeting members of the public, many of whom had

:01:47. > :01:51.spent hours in the rain, making it worth their while, and for the Queen

:01:52. > :01:55.to come and pay tribute to those patron ages, the organisations of

:01:56. > :02:00.which she has been the patron for so long, that was special. There was a

:02:01. > :02:08.lovely element of surprise about today. A wonderful speech by the

:02:09. > :02:11.Duke of Cambridge. The pomp and pageantry and celebration and rain

:02:12. > :02:19.and more rain, it has been British and fabulous. The sun is out at the

:02:20. > :02:24.moment. Darcey Bussell, you danced down the Mall. Not many people can

:02:25. > :02:28.say that. How did it feel? It was lovely to see their smiles, and all

:02:29. > :02:31.of the students around, seeing them coming down the Mall and then

:02:32. > :02:38.joining them in the end was such a treat. You are president of the

:02:39. > :02:44.Royal Academy of dance, we saw so many people, we will see clips of

:02:45. > :02:47.them later, an integral part of the parade but specifically where you

:02:48. > :02:52.yourself danced and we saw this great handbag. Tell us the thinking

:02:53. > :02:56.behind that. The important messages to say thank you to the Queen for

:02:57. > :03:02.everything she has done for these charities and we had to reveal that

:03:03. > :03:06.and we had to decide how to reveal that and it was done on a painted

:03:07. > :03:10.piece of silk that had to come out of something and a handbag seemed

:03:11. > :03:15.the most iconic lease of the Queen'swardrobe that we could think

:03:16. > :03:19.of that would work. They thought possibly someone would jump out of

:03:20. > :03:24.it but I thought that was beautiful, beautifully painted. It is exciting

:03:25. > :03:27.because we never rehearsed with the handbag so I can't tell you how

:03:28. > :03:31.nerve wracking it was, whether it would actually come out in the way

:03:32. > :03:36.it should. And frankly that it would be the right way up. Nobody knew

:03:37. > :03:42.what was going to happen. I heard somebody say, when Darcey jumps out

:03:43. > :03:47.the handbag... I know she's good, but... I can't do that at my age. I

:03:48. > :03:50.loved being there for all of this tunes and the Royal family and it

:03:51. > :03:56.was incredibly special because the sun was out, no puddles, and we

:03:57. > :04:01.could relax enjoy it. Lesley Garrett, we know that today was all

:04:02. > :04:07.about our Monica's 90 years but also about her saying thank you to the

:04:08. > :04:12.thousands of people that hold together the charities of which she

:04:13. > :04:16.is patron, over 600. You were dashing around in the studio and

:04:17. > :04:21.across the Mall. Those people were saying thank you but also being

:04:22. > :04:25.treated to a sparkling day out? It was wonderful, the sun shone at the

:04:26. > :04:30.right moment, when the pageant happened. For me what was special

:04:31. > :04:34.was the idea of community. And service to the community. There is

:04:35. > :04:40.no one in the world better at this than the Queen. She is the envy, we

:04:41. > :04:44.are the envy of the world for having her as this shining example of what

:04:45. > :04:49.service to the community is all about. She inspires us to serve our

:04:50. > :04:52.communities also. And the communities that each charity

:04:53. > :04:58.represents and we support, comes directly from her inspiration. And

:04:59. > :05:03.without her, I think this great tradition we have in this country of

:05:04. > :05:07.charitable giving and support really probably wouldn't exist. Do you

:05:08. > :05:13.agree with Lesley? It was a party, yes, but a party with a message?

:05:14. > :05:16.Very much so, and it was a thank you, the fact that the Queen took to

:05:17. > :05:27.the stage to thank the people, not just all of the patronages, but she

:05:28. > :05:30.also mentioned all of the greetings she had received. It is rare that

:05:31. > :05:35.she gets the chance to address her people, she gets the Christmas

:05:36. > :05:40.message but other than that? That truly felt like it was from the

:05:41. > :05:47.heart. And a joke at the end. It is difficult. She is fun. I hope you

:05:48. > :05:51.will still be singing happy birthday in December. The message was very

:05:52. > :05:55.much, I hope you're not! You were pretty close to the Queen, did she

:05:56. > :06:01.look as though she was enjoying it? There was lots of little claps

:06:02. > :06:05.coming, and the smile on her face, having her grandchildren around her,

:06:06. > :06:12.and persons, you could see that they are really happy. It did help.

:06:13. > :06:15.Lovely to talk to you. The celebrations started on Friday with

:06:16. > :06:20.the National Service of thanksgiving at St Paul's Cathedral.

:06:21. > :06:22.Let's remind ourselves of that day of celebration which not only

:06:23. > :06:25.commemorated the Queen's 90 years, but was also the Duke

:06:26. > :06:38.The service started with a procession, which included the

:06:39. > :06:43.Archbishop of Canterbury, who had prepared a special sermon. It also

:06:44. > :06:55.included other members of the chapter of St Paul's.

:06:56. > :07:01.And leading the procession was the Pearl sword, a symbol of the

:07:02. > :07:29.authority of the Lord Mayor of London.

:07:30. > :07:38.Dear friends, we come together to give thanks as one family under God

:07:39. > :07:42.for life in all its fullness, for love in all its power. For joy in

:07:43. > :07:51.all its wonder. Most especially today do we give

:07:52. > :07:54.thanks for the length of years that has been granted to our most

:07:55. > :07:56.gracious Sovereign Lady, For her faithful devotion,

:07:57. > :07:59.dutiful commitment, loving leadership, gentle constancy,

:08:00. > :08:05.royal dignity and kindly humanity. And as we give thanks

:08:06. > :08:10.for Her Majesty, so also do we give thanks for Philip, Duke of

:08:11. > :08:13.Edinburgh, and all the Royal Family, for mutual love and support

:08:14. > :08:15.and for service to this country Rejoicing at our good fortune,

:08:16. > :08:23.we nonetheless pray The lonely and the despairing,

:08:24. > :08:30.the sick and the fearful, the weak and the oppressed,

:08:31. > :08:34.that each precious life may be redeemed by love of God

:08:35. > :08:40.and love of neighbour, that together we may share

:08:41. > :09:08.in one another's joy. # Guard us, guide us,

:09:09. > :09:22.keep us, feed us 90 years ago, Her Majesty The Queen

:09:23. > :10:51.was born. Like every human being,

:10:52. > :10:53.knit together in her mother's womb, and today we thank God

:10:54. > :10:56.for the way in which she, like every human being,

:10:57. > :10:58.is fearfully and wonderfully made. Before we ever come to light,

:10:59. > :11:02.God marks our journeys. No one at the Queen's birth knew

:11:03. > :11:27.for what she was destined. Over the 63 years and the 90 years,

:11:28. > :11:33.there has been much to fear. Just as the... And more extraordinary, so we

:11:34. > :11:36.look back on your Majesty's 90 years in the life of our nation, with deep

:11:37. > :11:41.wonder and profound gratitude. Through war and hardship,

:11:42. > :11:43.through turmoil and change, we have been fearfully

:11:44. > :11:54.and wonderfully sustained. You have been an instrument

:11:55. > :11:56.of God's peace. And through you, God has so often

:11:57. > :12:01.turned fear into wonder and joy. In the name of the Father

:12:02. > :12:04.and of the Son and of With the Psalmist, let us call

:12:05. > :12:21.upon the name of the Lord, and give thanks for all that God has

:12:22. > :12:24.done, that the hearts of those God of Glory, we give you thanks

:12:25. > :12:37.for bringing us to birth. Let our mouths be filled

:12:38. > :12:40.with your praise that we may sing God our King, we give you thanks

:12:41. > :12:54.for the 90th birthday Sustain and strengthen

:12:55. > :12:57.her that her reign may God our saviour, we give you thanks

:12:58. > :13:15.for Jesus Christ, your Son. Enliven the Church,

:13:16. > :13:17.his body in the world, God our maker, we give you thanks

:13:18. > :13:36.for the world in which we live. Help us to tend and care for it that

:13:37. > :13:40.all life may enjoy the fruits Like me, author Michael Bond,

:13:41. > :16:02.the creator of Paddington Bear among other characters,

:16:03. > :16:05.also celebrates his 90th Here are his reflections on the 1926

:16:06. > :16:13.vintage and the passing I was born on January

:16:14. > :16:25.the 13th, 1926. My mother took one look at the

:16:26. > :16:32.scales and decided to call it a day. So I was destined to be an only

:16:33. > :16:48.child at the outset. I was fortunate enough to be brought

:16:49. > :16:52.up in a house where books were part My mother was such an avid reader

:16:53. > :16:56.that she wrote to authors to thank them, and in the same letter asking

:16:57. > :16:59.if they would make the next My father's motto was,

:17:00. > :17:06."The most precious gift you can He was a very polite man,

:17:07. > :17:16.and always wore a hat when he went outside in public in case he met

:17:17. > :17:22.anyone he knew. Addressing people older

:17:23. > :17:33.than yourselves by their Christian name, if you were a child, could be

:17:34. > :17:37.a tricky business in those days. Which meant that most adults

:17:38. > :17:39.were either labelled Owing to the horrendous casualties

:17:40. > :17:45.in the First World War, And because most of them lead lonely

:17:46. > :17:52.lives, I was frequently invited It wasn't until I reached the age

:17:53. > :18:12.of 90 that I began to realise the comfort of Louise Haskins'

:18:13. > :18:14.words suggesting that when you have a problem,

:18:15. > :18:17.your best bet is to consult the man Truly, if you put your hand

:18:18. > :18:28.into the hands of God, that shall be to you better

:18:29. > :18:33.than light and safer Hold fast that which is good,

:18:34. > :18:55.render to no one evil for evil. Strengthen the faint-hearted,

:18:56. > :18:58.support the weak, help Love and serve the Lord,

:18:59. > :19:04.rejoicing in the power And the blessing of God almighty,

:19:05. > :19:10.the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit,

:19:11. > :19:38.be amongst you and remain The Archbishop of Canterbury ending

:19:39. > :19:41.the service. Katie, what were the highlights? I was going to and to

:19:42. > :19:47.your question, it was very interesting to have other 90 air

:19:48. > :19:52.Haas? Yes, a very nice touch to have David Attenborough and Michael Bond,

:19:53. > :20:01.that familiar tone that puts everyone to use and is immediately

:20:02. > :20:05.recognisable. Other celebrations of other birthdays. There was a prayer

:20:06. > :20:11.by a member of the Royal household. Just a sense of inclusivity. The

:20:12. > :20:17.Duke of Edinburgh, who is 95, got three or four mentions. The Royal

:20:18. > :20:21.household, that was Oscar Matthew, and underfoot man. Lesley Garrett,

:20:22. > :20:25.there is an indication if it was needed but so much of royalty is

:20:26. > :20:28.about tradition, but the careful tweaks that help to stay relevant,

:20:29. > :20:33.we would not have seen that in services gone by. As you watch the

:20:34. > :20:36.performers, as somebody who has performed on countless occasions for

:20:37. > :20:41.the Royal, specifically for the Queen, are your sympathies with

:20:42. > :20:47.people who have to performed? There was a wonderful young pianist. It

:20:48. > :20:50.must be no fracking. Is is nerve wracking, but it is a bit like

:20:51. > :20:55.singing for your mum. You know she is willing you to do well and is

:20:56. > :21:00.very appreciative that you are there and giving your all. In a way, she

:21:01. > :21:06.puts you at ease, as all the Royal family is good at doing. One

:21:07. > :21:11.particular time when I sang for the Queen in seal in Korea, I was doing

:21:12. > :21:20.a Pacific Rim tour and I was asked to do to two Seoul to perform for

:21:21. > :21:27.her birthday. It was the first royal visit of the green to that country.

:21:28. > :21:31.-- to do a detour to Seoul. I tripped on with 50 Korean five roles

:21:32. > :21:38.in national dress, and it brought a tear to her eyes. -- five-year-olds.

:21:39. > :21:44.But what was impressive was that it was a five-day trade mission around

:21:45. > :21:48.her visit. I observed that she started work at eight o'clock in the

:21:49. > :21:54.morning, did not finish until 11 o'clock at night every day, and the

:21:55. > :21:59.Duke also. ?4.5 billion worth of trade went down for Britain that

:22:00. > :22:05.week. All because of her. If that wasn't Seoul, she would have been in

:22:06. > :22:07.her 70s? Mid to late 70s, very long working days, but I think she works

:22:08. > :22:09.as hard now. In yesterday's main event

:22:10. > :22:12.the military said their happy birthday to Her Majesty

:22:13. > :22:14.in the annual spectacle Let's join Huw Edwards to recall

:22:15. > :22:28.the highlights of the parade Every year on a Saturday morning in

:22:29. > :22:32.June, the sovereign's official birthday is celebrated in great

:22:33. > :22:37.style with the ceremony of Trooping the Colour. The honour of Trooping

:22:38. > :22:40.the Colour in 2016 falls to the Coldstream Guards. So stand by for a

:22:41. > :23:00.thrilling display at the Queen's Birthday Parade.

:23:01. > :23:11.Her Majesty and the Duke of Edinburgh are on the way to the

:23:12. > :23:14.birth date arrayed at Horse Guards. Number three guard has opened up to

:23:15. > :23:56.make way for the first royal guests. It is also an opportunity for the

:23:57. > :24:09.Massed Bands to entertain. The man in charge as the senior of music,

:24:10. > :24:10.maternal -- the tenant kernel Kevin Roberts -- Lieutenant Colonel Kevin

:24:26. > :24:31.Brigadier, he retired after 34 years in the army and is among many other

:24:32. > :24:35.distinctions a former commander of the 1st Battalion, Coldstream

:24:36. > :25:04.Guards. Delighted to be here, one of my favourite days of the year.

:25:05. > :25:39.Escort for the Colour advance! By the left, quick march!

:25:40. > :25:45.The escort stepping off with great energy and purpose to the rousing

:25:46. > :25:49.march of the British Grenadiers on their way to escort the colour,

:25:50. > :25:56.showing the results of weeks of hard work.

:25:57. > :26:07.Such a proud moment for the regimental Sergeant Major who served

:26:08. > :26:10.in Iraq and Afghanistan. He now prepares to take possession of the

:26:11. > :26:14.colour, detecting it with his sword, ready to hand it safely over to the

:26:15. > :26:25.ensign. The transfer is made

:26:26. > :26:30.? as the Ensign, 2nd receives the Colour

:26:31. > :26:37.from Regimental Sergeant Major ? We approach a deeply

:26:38. > :27:18.symbolic part of this It's the spiritual

:27:19. > :27:25.heart of the parade. All the Coldstreamers past

:27:26. > :27:27.and present watching will be feeling Lieutenant James Potter,

:27:28. > :27:45.who's 25 and from Salisbury, joined the Army less than two years ago,

:27:48. > :28:08.for them to show off We have the Corp

:28:09. > :28:11.of Drums led by Drum Major Maurice Brown and we have got

:28:12. > :28:15.the Drums and Pipes, led by John They've got a lot of

:33:37. > :33:39.This is the moment, Greville, where the Queen will be

:33:40. > :33:41.reflecting on what the parade has been like.

:33:42. > :33:46.The Duke of Edinburgh no doubt has his views too.

:33:47. > :33:49.And to what extent do you think the verdict is clear at

:33:50. > :33:52.I think Her Majesty will have reached a pretty sound

:33:53. > :34:02.I think she will have loved it. I thought it looked absolutely

:34:03. > :34:11.terrific. Nice weather, enjoying the fact lots

:34:12. > :34:34.of crowds out there today. The salute being fired by the Royal

:34:59. > :35:15.Princess Charlotte, waiting in the The Queen acknowledging the applause

:35:16. > :35:24.of this enormous crowd. There will be a big

:35:25. > :35:26.round of applause and delight when I'm sure people see

:35:27. > :35:28.the Spitfire and Hurricane. The iconic Battle of

:35:29. > :35:38.Britain Memorial Flight. C-130 Hercules and two

:35:39. > :35:43.pilot trainers. Thundering through the sky

:35:44. > :35:59.above Buckingham Palace. Joining me now is someone

:36:00. > :36:22.who was instrumental in the planning of today's street party ?

:36:23. > :36:25.and in between laying the picnic tables they also attended

:36:26. > :36:27.yesterday's Birthday Parade. I must surely say congratulations,

:36:28. > :36:35.grandson, Peter Phillips. I must surely say congratulations,

:36:36. > :36:39.you must be pleased with how it went today. Yes, and slightly relieved,

:36:40. > :36:44.we caught a lucky break with the weather in between the showers.

:36:45. > :36:47.Listen, everybody I have spoken to as they were leaving were very

:36:48. > :36:52.happy. The great British Perrett shone through in the early rain

:36:53. > :36:59.shower we had in the morning and everyone just carried on and was

:37:00. > :37:03.happy. -- the great British spirit. The appearance of the Queen made

:37:04. > :37:07.everyone's day. Are you getting shattered? I am getting that way!

:37:08. > :37:13.But you still have a smile on your face. Good for you. These ceremonial

:37:14. > :37:16.occasions have very strict requirements for Trooping the Colour

:37:17. > :37:20.and everything that happens afterwards and yet you only had a

:37:21. > :37:25.matter of hours to set up a street party for 10,000 people involved in

:37:26. > :37:31.the Queen's600 charities. What was the schedule like and how did it

:37:32. > :37:39.work? Tide. 160 vehicles on loaded in 12 hours. Then obviously we had

:37:40. > :37:44.to make sure everything was finished off properly and all of the rest of

:37:45. > :37:48.it prior to the gates opening this morning at 10am. -- vehicles

:37:49. > :37:53.unloaded. It looks very simple in the time-lapse. It looks almost

:37:54. > :37:57.flawless. I don't know why you are making such a fuss! CHUCKLES

:37:58. > :38:01.I saw you throughout the day 's parade chatting to your grandmother

:38:02. > :38:06.and taking her through it as you were sat by her side. Which bids in

:38:07. > :38:10.particular did she enjoy? She enjoyed quite a lot of it, one of

:38:11. > :38:14.the big things was the fact she enjoyed seeing all of these

:38:15. > :38:19.organisations represented, she has such a long associations with them.

:38:20. > :38:23.For her it was about being able to give all of these organisations and

:38:24. > :38:29.opportunity and a platform to come and enjoy this event and celebrate.

:38:30. > :38:32.But also, you know, these organisations didn't just come to

:38:33. > :38:38.the mall, they were holding their own events across the country. She

:38:39. > :38:41.was really happy and enjoyed the day and she would have seen a lot of

:38:42. > :38:52.familiar faces when she went up and down the Mall. Thousands of cups and

:38:53. > :38:58.tea and sandwiches, did you have a chance to have one yourself? I might

:38:59. > :39:03.see if there are any hampers left over. I think they may be gone. Any

:39:04. > :39:08.chance of a repeat performance next year? Very unlikely, we made it

:39:09. > :39:15.clear this was a one-off. Everybody seemed to enjoy it. Congratulations.

:39:16. > :39:21.A unique way to wish the Queen happy birthday. We will now take you

:39:22. > :39:36.through some of the highlights. Thank you so much.

:39:37. > :39:44.What did Kate say to you? She asked about what we do as a charity and

:39:45. > :39:49.she spent a while chatting to us, it was fantastic. You are still

:39:50. > :39:54.buzzing. It was wonderful, what an amazing opportunity. You have

:39:55. > :40:00.travelled a long way today, has this met your expectations? It's amazing.

:40:01. > :40:04.Why has it been so wonderful? It is great because it has been a

:40:05. > :40:14.once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, this is our one chance. After the royal

:40:15. > :40:17.walkabout there was then the appearance by Her Majesty The Queen

:40:18. > :40:23.accompanied by the Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Philip. Both

:40:24. > :40:28.thoroughly enjoying the occasion and heading down the Mall is they made

:41:39. > :41:43.leaders can turn to for a first-hand perspective of the archive history

:41:44. > :41:48.over the last six decades. But the reason we are here today is to

:41:49. > :41:54.celebrate a role that matters just as much to the Queen as the one that

:41:55. > :41:58.she holds on the world stage. We are here to celebrate the Queen as

:41:59. > :42:02.patron. Her commitment to the more than 600 charities to which she

:42:03. > :42:14.lends her name and support is unwavering. From national military

:42:15. > :42:18.and sporting bodies to small local associations, to charities that

:42:19. > :42:23.Champion children, faith, education and arts, the Queen'spride in her

:42:24. > :42:29.role as patron is absolute so under half of my entire family can I say

:43:22. > :43:27.wonderful support and encouragement that you continue to give to me. I

:43:28. > :43:33.hope that these happy celebrations will remind us of the many benefits

:43:34. > :43:41.that can flow when people come together for a common purpose, as

:43:42. > :43:48.families, friends or neighbours. And I pay tribute to the commitments,

:43:49. > :43:53.selfless devotion and generosity of spirit shown by the hundreds of

:43:54. > :44:01.charities and voluntary organisations represented here

:44:02. > :44:06.today. You are an example to us all. I much appreciate the kindness of

:44:07. > :44:14.all your birthday wishes and have been delighted and moved by the many

:44:15. > :44:19.cards and messages I have received. How I will feel if people are still
