0:02:20 > 0:02:21- And it's...- Finally!

0:02:21 > 0:02:26I think we've put on our social networking sites that, you know,

0:02:26 > 0:02:302015 was a good year, but the best year is yet to come.

0:02:30 > 0:02:33And we're in it, which is very, very exciting.

0:02:33 > 0:02:34Have a good 'un.

0:02:34 > 0:02:36- You, too.- Lovely working with you.

0:02:36 > 0:02:38It's a beautiful guy you've got there.

0:02:38 > 0:02:42Panto season is a busy time for actors with dwarfism.

0:02:42 > 0:02:44But James has spent a lifetime hoping that people

0:02:44 > 0:02:45will see beyond his condition.

0:02:45 > 0:02:47Love you!

0:02:47 > 0:02:50His mantra for life has always been to see him

0:02:50 > 0:02:52and not just his height.

0:02:52 > 0:02:54- All right, mate?- Nice one.

0:02:54 > 0:02:56- Thank you.- If you need a tour guide chaining to you on your stag night,

0:02:56 > 0:02:59- give us a ring.- I will do. - I'll find somebody for you.

0:02:59 > 0:03:02And if you need a tour guide chaining to you on your hen night,

0:03:02 > 0:03:03- well, Bob's your uncle. - CHLOE LAUGHS

0:03:03 > 0:03:06See you later. I don't even know him. See you later.

0:03:06 > 0:03:10We say every day, and I don't think Chloe will mind me saying this,

0:03:10 > 0:03:12but, "Can't we just get married now?" You know?

0:03:20 > 0:03:22Remember when we came down here and you put your feet in?

0:03:22 > 0:03:23It's over there.

0:03:25 > 0:03:26Oh, down there, yeah?

0:03:30 > 0:03:31A little pysgod.

0:03:35 > 0:03:36Watch your head(!)

0:03:38 > 0:03:40'Well, we're in Llyn Geirionydd,'

0:03:40 > 0:03:42and what a beautiful place it is.

0:03:44 > 0:03:46And you were sat there, I came over here...

0:03:46 > 0:03:49'It's very special to us because

0:03:49 > 0:03:51'it's where we got engaged.'

0:03:51 > 0:03:54So, yeah, that's why it's special to me...

0:03:54 > 0:03:55- Yeah.- ..and to us, yeah.

0:03:57 > 0:04:01'We came to Betws-y-Coed for a date night, as we call it.

0:04:01 > 0:04:04'We like to have one of those at least once a week.

0:04:04 > 0:04:05'Jay was particularly quiet'

0:04:05 > 0:04:09on the way up to the lake, and that's never like him.

0:04:09 > 0:04:12Got to the jetty, I sat down,

0:04:12 > 0:04:15we started chatting.

0:04:15 > 0:04:17And before you know it, he was behind me,

0:04:17 > 0:04:19tapped me on the shoulder, and said,

0:04:19 > 0:04:21"What would you do if I asked you to marry me?"

0:04:21 > 0:04:23And I sat up,

0:04:23 > 0:04:25turned around, and there he was on one knee.

0:04:27 > 0:04:29I said yes, by the way.

0:04:29 > 0:04:31When we got up here, I was nervous.

0:04:31 > 0:04:33You know, I was nervous.

0:04:33 > 0:04:36I couldn't get the ring out of my pocket at first,

0:04:36 > 0:04:37so I was a bit panicky.

0:04:37 > 0:04:39So I was trying to change the subject, saying,

0:04:39 > 0:04:41"Look at that fish over there in the lake."

0:04:41 > 0:04:42And there was nothing to be seen.

0:04:42 > 0:04:45Anyway, eventually got the ring out of my pocket

0:04:45 > 0:04:47and then the deed took place.

0:04:52 > 0:04:54Wouldn't mind jumping in there now.

0:04:54 > 0:04:56- Go on, then, off you go.- No.

0:04:56 > 0:05:00Much to James' relief, his proposal went well.

0:05:00 > 0:05:03And for most people, getting down on one knee

0:05:03 > 0:05:05would be the least of their worries.

0:05:05 > 0:05:08But for James, it's not that simple.

0:05:08 > 0:05:11I've always wanted, when I started

0:05:11 > 0:05:13growing up in my teenage years

0:05:13 > 0:05:16and wanted to get engaged and think about all marriage

0:05:16 > 0:05:18and weddings and stuff like that.

0:05:18 > 0:05:21But I always knew that I wanted to get down on one knee,

0:05:21 > 0:05:24no matter what the situation was.

0:05:25 > 0:05:30'I have diastrophic dysplasia, which is a rare form of dwarfism.'

0:05:30 > 0:05:32And my mobility is not as...

0:05:32 > 0:05:36Well, I'm not as mobile as your average human being, if you like.

0:05:36 > 0:05:39It is hard for me to get down onto the floor.

0:05:41 > 0:05:43I wasn't going to let my condition hold me back.

0:05:43 > 0:05:46There was one way I was going to get on one knee,

0:05:46 > 0:05:50whether it was me pretending to fall and just getting onto one knee.

0:05:50 > 0:05:53Anyway, Chloe did something that she never does,

0:05:53 > 0:05:57and that's, she just sat down on the edge of the jetty.

0:05:57 > 0:06:00And I was thinking, "Right, this is it -

0:06:00 > 0:06:02"this is meant to be."

0:06:02 > 0:06:06So when she said that I went behind her and tapped her on the shoulder,

0:06:06 > 0:06:08I was actually leaning on her shoulder to get down onto one knee.

0:06:08 > 0:06:11- CHLOE LAUGHS - And that's when I asked her.

0:06:11 > 0:06:13And then, of course, Chloe, I just

0:06:13 > 0:06:15saw mascara coming down her cheek.

0:06:16 > 0:06:19And, yeah, she said yes, and I put the ring on.

0:06:19 > 0:06:21And it was just...

0:06:21 > 0:06:25it was an incredible feeling, really, when she said yes.

0:06:25 > 0:06:26And just like, "Wow, this is it."

0:06:26 > 0:06:29- Yeah.- "We're getting married. This is awesome."

0:06:35 > 0:06:38Rhos-on-Sea, home of the Lusted family.

0:06:38 > 0:06:41Dawn and Dave and their two sons, Philip and James.

0:06:41 > 0:06:43..like one of the Beatles!

0:06:43 > 0:06:45Dawn and Dave are average height,

0:06:45 > 0:06:47while both Phil and James have dwarfism

0:06:47 > 0:06:49and stand at a reduced height of

0:06:49 > 0:06:523'0" and 3'7" respectively.

0:06:54 > 0:06:57Our aim for our boys has been

0:06:57 > 0:06:59for their independence.

0:06:59 > 0:07:02To be able to do everything that

0:07:02 > 0:07:05anybody else would be able to do.

0:07:05 > 0:07:06And then we'll test it.

0:07:06 > 0:07:09Tell me when it's switched on and I'll press test.

0:07:11 > 0:07:15And getting married, of course, is part of that, so we are pleased that

0:07:15 > 0:07:19James and Chloe are getting married, yeah.

0:07:19 > 0:07:23I think, and we knew straight away, that Chloe was the one for James.

0:07:23 > 0:07:24Yeah, yeah.

0:07:24 > 0:07:28Because we could tell with James that he thought a lot of Chloe

0:07:28 > 0:07:31and, yeah, she was the one.

0:07:31 > 0:07:33- Yeah.- Definitely, definitely.

0:07:39 > 0:07:41- It's not as warm as the other day. - Yeah.

0:07:45 > 0:07:47He was looking at a website one day -

0:07:47 > 0:07:49Clogau Gold.

0:07:49 > 0:07:51And I said, "What are you doing?"

0:07:51 > 0:07:53I said, "You're not buying a ring, are you?"

0:07:55 > 0:07:57And he just smirked.

0:07:58 > 0:08:00And then the next thing, this ring appeared here,

0:08:00 > 0:08:04and I said, "Oh, right, OK." Then, "Don't say anything to anybody."

0:08:04 > 0:08:06I said, "OK."

0:08:06 > 0:08:09So I did know about the ring.

0:08:09 > 0:08:13But I wasn't sure when it was going to happen.

0:08:13 > 0:08:15- BEEP - Ready?- Yeah.

0:08:15 > 0:08:16MOTOR WHIRS

0:08:20 > 0:08:25- DAVE:- I always remember a phone call that Chloe made.

0:08:25 > 0:08:27She said, when I answered it,

0:08:27 > 0:08:30"Jay's just asked me to marry him!"

0:08:33 > 0:08:34I said, "Oh, very good."

0:08:35 > 0:08:38Came as a bit of a shock, but very good.

0:08:40 > 0:08:42Glass of champagne now.

0:08:58 > 0:09:01James and Chloe are both Christians

0:09:01 > 0:09:04who have chosen not to live together before marriage.

0:09:04 > 0:09:06And this will be their first home together.

0:09:06 > 0:09:09I'm sure they have. Fingers crossed.

0:09:09 > 0:09:11'Well, we are at our house.

0:09:11 > 0:09:12'Our first house together.'

0:09:13 > 0:09:15We're so, so excited.

0:09:15 > 0:09:16It's a great place.

0:09:22 > 0:09:25- Oh, yes.- Looking good. - That's better.

0:09:26 > 0:09:29'We've chosen not to move in until after the wedding because

0:09:29 > 0:09:34'we thought it would be a fresh, new start for both of us.

0:09:34 > 0:09:36'And also because of the beliefs and

0:09:36 > 0:09:39'the faith we've grown up with.

0:09:39 > 0:09:41'Jay's grown-up in a Christian background.

0:09:41 > 0:09:43'I kind of have as well.'

0:09:43 > 0:09:46And we just think it's right to wait.

0:09:48 > 0:09:49The heating's on.

0:09:49 > 0:09:52- That's why it's so hot.- The heating?

0:09:52 > 0:09:54We're being charged for that.

0:09:55 > 0:09:57So we have no sex before marriage,

0:09:57 > 0:09:59so I can't wait for the wedding.

0:10:01 > 0:10:02Cos we've had a long engagement.

0:10:06 > 0:10:08All right, that's off now.

0:10:08 > 0:10:11- Cool.- Hopefully, it'll cool down.

0:10:11 > 0:10:12HE GROANS

0:10:12 > 0:10:15'The wedding is supposed to finish about 12.30, they say.'

0:10:15 > 0:10:17But ten o'clock - "Come on, let's go."

0:10:19 > 0:10:22So, no, yeah, we're really excited about that.

0:10:27 > 0:10:30Wedding preparations are gathering momentum.

0:10:30 > 0:10:32And Chloe is keen to try out the make-up

0:10:32 > 0:10:34she'll be wearing on the big day.

0:10:34 > 0:10:36- Hi.- Hello, how are you.

0:10:36 > 0:10:38All right. You found me OK?

0:10:38 > 0:10:40Yeah, it was all right.

0:10:40 > 0:10:41- Got a bit lost, but, eventually.- Aw.

0:10:41 > 0:10:43- In you come.- Thank you.

0:10:44 > 0:10:46- Come through.- OK.

0:10:47 > 0:10:49- Pop yourself down for me. - Thank you.

0:10:52 > 0:10:54So give me a rough idea of what you want.

0:10:55 > 0:10:58- Natural skin tone, natural lip... - Yeah.

0:10:58 > 0:10:59..bold eyes.

0:11:02 > 0:11:05Have you always wanted to get married?

0:11:05 > 0:11:08Yeah, I've grown up in the kind of community where...

0:11:10 > 0:11:13..my friends have gotten married around the same age as me,

0:11:13 > 0:11:14so their early 20s.

0:11:14 > 0:11:17Did you have your dream wedding planned as a child?

0:11:18 > 0:11:19Never thought about it.

0:11:19 > 0:11:21I was a tomboy when I was little.

0:11:21 > 0:11:25So, like, boys weren't really my priority.

0:11:26 > 0:11:29But I...I'd say when I was

0:11:29 > 0:11:3315/16, I started thinking about it.

0:11:33 > 0:11:36And any boyfriend I had when I was that age,

0:11:36 > 0:11:38I always thought, "Will I marry him?"

0:11:38 > 0:11:41And I kind of planned in my head a tiny bit.

0:11:43 > 0:11:45So was it love at first sight?

0:11:47 > 0:11:49No.

0:11:49 > 0:11:51To be honest...

0:11:51 > 0:11:54because of who Jay is and his condition,

0:11:54 > 0:11:57I never really thought about him in that kind of way.

0:12:00 > 0:12:02But after we'd met up a couple of times,

0:12:02 > 0:12:07and we kept things on the downlow throughout the summer,

0:12:07 > 0:12:11one day, me and my sister and my mum went shopping in Llandrillo.

0:12:12 > 0:12:14And we bumped into Jay

0:12:14 > 0:12:16on the off-chance.

0:12:16 > 0:12:19You know when you see someone and you get that

0:12:19 > 0:12:21feeling in your stomach?

0:12:21 > 0:12:23It kind of was then that I thought,

0:12:23 > 0:12:25"Oh, wow, OK, I kind of like him."

0:12:25 > 0:12:27Aw.

0:12:27 > 0:12:30Yeah. And I never go shy. Never.

0:12:30 > 0:12:32But I mean, I wasn't...

0:12:32 > 0:12:34I was lost for words,

0:12:34 > 0:12:35- I guess you could say.- Aw.

0:12:37 > 0:12:41Do you think he'll cry when he sees you?

0:12:41 > 0:12:44He actually said to me today,

0:12:44 > 0:12:46"To be honest, I don't think I'll cry at the church."

0:12:46 > 0:12:49I was like, "Do you want to put money on that?"

0:12:51 > 0:12:54So as to get the best view of his bride on their big day,

0:12:54 > 0:12:57James asked a friend to help him out.

0:12:58 > 0:13:01'Our really good friend Steve from our church

0:13:01 > 0:13:03'offered to make us some steps...'

0:13:03 > 0:13:04Perfect.

0:13:04 > 0:13:08'..so I could be the same height as Chloe at the wedding ceremony.'

0:13:08 > 0:13:10- Like this?- No, no.- Why wouldn't we?

0:13:10 > 0:13:13I think...cos you'll walk down the aisle and stand there.

0:13:13 > 0:13:15- Do you think?- So stand there.

0:13:17 > 0:13:20- Yeah.- Like that?- Yeah.

0:13:20 > 0:13:22Oh, OK.

0:13:22 > 0:13:23I'm actually taller than you.

0:13:23 > 0:13:25I was about to say that!

0:13:25 > 0:13:28'Because Chloe is obviously two-foot taller than me...'

0:13:28 > 0:13:30you know, "You may kiss the bride", she didn't want to bend down,

0:13:30 > 0:13:32I didn't want to, you know?

0:13:32 > 0:13:34So we can have a proper kiss now.

0:13:35 > 0:13:37- "You may kiss the bride." - SHE LAUGHS

0:13:46 > 0:13:49Dave and Dawn were keen to start their own family

0:13:49 > 0:13:52following their marriage 33 years ago.

0:13:52 > 0:13:54But they had no idea that they were

0:13:54 > 0:13:56both carrying the dwarfism gene,

0:13:56 > 0:13:59giving them a one-in-four chance of having children with the condition.

0:14:00 > 0:14:05First child Phil's dwarfism came as a complete shock to Dawn and Dave.

0:14:05 > 0:14:09But when James came along, they were prepared.

0:14:09 > 0:14:12When Phil was born, we didn't know that he had

0:14:12 > 0:14:15anything wrong with him until he was born.

0:14:15 > 0:14:18- And it was a big shock, really, wasn't it?- Yeah.

0:14:18 > 0:14:22Yeah. When I first saw him, you know,

0:14:22 > 0:14:25I even said then to the paediatrician when I first saw him,

0:14:25 > 0:14:28I was quite prepared to sell the house

0:14:28 > 0:14:31that we'd got if something was going to...

0:14:31 > 0:14:33Needed money to put him right, you know?

0:14:33 > 0:14:36But that just wasn't the case.

0:14:36 > 0:14:40And then, when I was pregnant with James...

0:14:42 > 0:14:45..I went for a scan and I could tell.

0:14:45 > 0:14:47I knew there was something wrong.

0:14:47 > 0:14:48And I said to her, I said,

0:14:48 > 0:14:52"Have you been looking for a problem?"

0:14:52 > 0:14:55So she said, "Why, am I supposed to be looking for a problem?"

0:14:55 > 0:15:00I said, "Well, I have got one son that's got dwarfism."

0:15:00 > 0:15:03"Oh!" I could see the relief on her face, so she went away and she

0:15:03 > 0:15:06came back with a radiologist,

0:15:06 > 0:15:10and he checked, and they were measuring and everything, and they

0:15:10 > 0:15:15said, "Yeah, we think that you're having another child with dwarfism."

0:15:15 > 0:15:18I broke my heart. I did.

0:15:21 > 0:15:24And every time I talk about it, it upsets me.

0:15:31 > 0:15:35Once I got that out of my system - I was really upset at the time -

0:15:35 > 0:15:39once I got it out my system I was fine then.

0:15:39 > 0:15:41Cos I knew what was coming.

0:15:47 > 0:15:51James and older brother Phil both live with their parents

0:15:51 > 0:15:55at the moment, and are used to helping each other around the house.

0:15:58 > 0:16:00A walking board!

0:16:00 > 0:16:01THEY LAUGH

0:16:01 > 0:16:04More recently, Phil has been helping out with the wedding,

0:16:04 > 0:16:09and being a graphic designer, he is taking care of the invitations

0:16:09 > 0:16:11and the table plan.

0:16:11 > 0:16:13I like this, it really blends in well.

0:16:13 > 0:16:16- Yeah, it looks good like that. - Yeah.

0:16:16 > 0:16:20We've always been there for each other, to help each other out

0:16:20 > 0:16:25in any way that we could, and still do, and always will.

0:16:25 > 0:16:28Like, James can walk a lot further than I can.

0:16:28 > 0:16:33James can't bend down as far as I can. So we work together as a team.

0:16:33 > 0:16:37Yeah. Even reaching things, cos I am a little bit taller.

0:16:37 > 0:16:43And if not, I can pick Phil up, cos he is so light!

0:16:45 > 0:16:49- But he couldn't pick me up. - No! I'd be back in hospital!

0:16:49 > 0:16:52THEY LAUGH

0:16:52 > 0:16:53Well, I'll check on the list.

0:16:53 > 0:16:57When they were younger, both James and Phil spent much of their

0:16:57 > 0:17:02early childhood in hospital, having various operations and treatments.

0:17:02 > 0:17:06I had a cleft palate that needed to be fixed.

0:17:06 > 0:17:11I had all these wires coming out my mouth for a couple of months.

0:17:11 > 0:17:16It didn't look very nice, but it had to be done.

0:17:16 > 0:17:19Operations on my back, my spine.

0:17:19 > 0:17:23Among the conditions that needed to be corrected were Phil and James'

0:17:23 > 0:17:28inward-turning feet, which would make walking almost impossible.

0:17:28 > 0:17:33Phil and I have had club feet. When we were born, we put our feet

0:17:33 > 0:17:37into casts to straighten them out. But my feet did not always stay...

0:17:37 > 0:17:40They would stay, basically.

0:17:40 > 0:17:44So as I was growing, they kept turning further in.

0:17:44 > 0:17:48So my club feet were coming back and my knees weren't doing good,

0:17:48 > 0:17:52so they were not aligned correctly, and therefore my feet were changing,

0:17:52 > 0:17:57so I walk on the balls of my feet and not flat,

0:17:57 > 0:18:00so hence I have wedges on my shoes.

0:18:01 > 0:18:04In order to give James the best chance of being able to walk,

0:18:04 > 0:18:06he needed his legs straightening,

0:18:06 > 0:18:10which meant wearing metal frames bolted to the bones in his legs.

0:18:10 > 0:18:14Dad Dave had the traumatic job of regularly turning the screws

0:18:14 > 0:18:19so that the bones were gradually pushed into a better shape.

0:18:19 > 0:18:22When one of the boys was in hospital,

0:18:22 > 0:18:25the other one would be staying at my mum's because Dave was working.

0:18:25 > 0:18:29It was hard because I was a long way from home and on my own,

0:18:29 > 0:18:35and having to watch the boys' suffering,

0:18:35 > 0:18:39- and Dave would come up every weekend, wouldn't you?- Yeah.

0:18:39 > 0:18:42But it was hard.

0:18:47 > 0:18:50I had them on for 3½ months.

0:18:50 > 0:18:52Originally they said they should be on for six months,

0:18:52 > 0:18:54and I didn't realise how I was going to cope.

0:18:54 > 0:18:57I was only seven, I think, or eight at the time.

0:18:58 > 0:19:00If I hadn't have had those frames,

0:19:00 > 0:19:07I would have walked today very bent over, much more than I am now,

0:19:07 > 0:19:11and I probably wouldn't be able to walk, to be honest.

0:19:11 > 0:19:15James and Chloe are keen to start a family after they are married,

0:19:15 > 0:19:18and unlike James' parents, they will do so

0:19:18 > 0:19:22in the full knowledge that they may well have a child with dwarfism.

0:19:22 > 0:19:24As he has the condition himself,

0:19:24 > 0:19:27James is also a carrier of the dwarfism gene.

0:19:27 > 0:19:30And Chloe may also be a carrier without knowing it.

0:19:30 > 0:19:33If she has the gene, it would give the couple a far higher

0:19:33 > 0:19:36chance of having a baby with dwarfism.

0:19:36 > 0:19:38I can't wait to have kids.

0:19:38 > 0:19:42Yeah, we've both got that in common. Family's definitely the key,

0:19:42 > 0:19:44I think, the thing that we can't wait to have.

0:19:46 > 0:19:49We don't have any concerns if there was a slight chance of having

0:19:49 > 0:19:52a baby with Jay's condition.

0:19:52 > 0:19:56I am not even prepared to get tested to see if I have the gene

0:19:56 > 0:19:59because I think, at the end of the day, if it happens, it happens.

0:19:59 > 0:20:02It won't change my mind about having kids either way.

0:20:02 > 0:20:06We'll love it just the same as any other baby that we have.

0:20:06 > 0:20:09But if, obviously things will be a little bit different

0:20:09 > 0:20:11if it does have diastrophic dysplasia,

0:20:11 > 0:20:16cos we will have to do the early years in and out of hospital,

0:20:16 > 0:20:18probably, like Phil and I was,

0:20:18 > 0:20:22but that is cool, we're prepared to fight that and go through that.

0:20:22 > 0:20:24It will challenge us together,

0:20:24 > 0:20:28and that is something that Chloe and I have spoken about already, before

0:20:28 > 0:20:32we even got engaged, cos I think that is an important thing to do.

0:20:36 > 0:20:40It's Chloe's hen weekend, and she will be accompanied to a secret

0:20:40 > 0:20:45location by her mother, two sisters and an assortment of friends.

0:20:45 > 0:20:47I have no idea what is happening.

0:20:47 > 0:20:49My sisters have planned the whole thing.

0:20:49 > 0:20:53I don't know where I'm going, I don't know what I'm doing. Excited.

0:20:53 > 0:20:56But very nervous, too.

0:20:56 > 0:20:58Here we go.

0:20:58 > 0:21:01'I hate surprises. Ask Jay.'

0:21:02 > 0:21:06I know it's an hour away, and I know it's overnight,

0:21:06 > 0:21:12and I don't need my passport, as far as I know, so... Yeah, excited.

0:21:12 > 0:21:16The girls have arrived in Manchester at an It's A Knockout event,

0:21:16 > 0:21:20where they will compete against other hen parties.

0:21:20 > 0:21:23Chloe and James met as friends four years ago,

0:21:23 > 0:21:25but it took a while for romance to blossom.

0:21:25 > 0:21:29And Chloe's sisters were two of the first people to meet the new

0:21:29 > 0:21:31man in Chloe's life.

0:21:31 > 0:21:35We met him through, um, youth, and when he came to church.

0:21:35 > 0:21:40And then she brought him home, but then they were just friends.

0:21:40 > 0:21:44- Oh, yeah, friends(!)- But it wasn't, it was obviously more.

0:21:44 > 0:21:46- It wasn't friends.- And then...

0:21:46 > 0:21:48She kind of, a couple of weeks later, said,

0:21:48 > 0:21:53"Oh, yeah, we're seeing each other." It was a shock, but we love James.

0:21:53 > 0:21:59Yeah. He's a great guy, yeah. We loved him, still do. Still do.

0:21:59 > 0:22:03But, yeah, I think it's always going to be a little bit of a surprise,

0:22:03 > 0:22:06with, like, the way he is,

0:22:06 > 0:22:10but it wasn't really that much of a...thing.

0:22:12 > 0:22:16But Chloe's mum Sarah had reservations about the relationship.

0:22:18 > 0:22:20Um, my feelings, when Chloe said about Jay,

0:22:20 > 0:22:24she mentioned him before she even said she was going out with him,

0:22:24 > 0:22:27just to test the waters cos she knows what I'm like.

0:22:27 > 0:22:30And then she told me she was going out with him and...

0:22:30 > 0:22:32No, I wasn't happy.

0:22:32 > 0:22:37Purely because, to me, it was like, "Chloe, you know,

0:22:37 > 0:22:41"he is a dwarf, you're not suited," and everything else.

0:22:41 > 0:22:44CHEERING

0:22:46 > 0:22:49But then as I got to know him, it just sort of,

0:22:49 > 0:22:52you look at Jay and you just see Jay, you don't see anything else.

0:22:53 > 0:22:57Um, and it wasn't just with him being a dwarf,

0:22:57 > 0:22:59I suppose I am like that with

0:22:59 > 0:23:03any of my daughters, but that just made it a little bit more harder.

0:23:04 > 0:23:06CHEERING

0:23:06 > 0:23:10The guys are just going to have a go themselves.

0:23:10 > 0:23:13A bit of encouragement. They are going to have run round the ring.

0:23:19 > 0:23:23James is used to people's varying reactions to his condition.

0:23:23 > 0:23:27But Chloe knew too, that people may well have mixed feelings

0:23:27 > 0:23:30about her blossoming romance with James.

0:23:35 > 0:23:38- No, you need to get the bits out. - I know!

0:23:40 > 0:23:43Going out and about can be an interesting experience for

0:23:43 > 0:23:46the couple, as people do tend to look at them,

0:23:46 > 0:23:49sometimes passing comments.

0:23:49 > 0:23:54- But both James and Chloe take it in their stride.- Great chopping, this!

0:23:54 > 0:23:56- I know, yeah.- Great chopping!

0:24:01 > 0:24:08We were walking somewhere recently, I think it was Cardiff, Bute Park,

0:24:08 > 0:24:11and you had overheard a couple of little girls shout something.

0:24:11 > 0:24:14- Of course, yeah. - I can't remember what they said.

0:24:14 > 0:24:17They were trying to work out if he was a man or a boy.

0:24:17 > 0:24:20And one of the little girls said, "Don't be silly, it's a man!"

0:24:22 > 0:24:26And it was just funny how they were like two old ladies,

0:24:26 > 0:24:29"No, it's not a man!" "Yes, it IS a man!"

0:24:29 > 0:24:31You know? It was great.

0:24:32 > 0:24:35- Bon appetit.- Let's enjoy.

0:24:36 > 0:24:40In terms of adults, then, you know, we've had some experiences,

0:24:40 > 0:24:44and, um, which is funny.

0:24:46 > 0:24:52But then some do get taken to heart too much by other people, not us.

0:24:52 > 0:24:58But we're up for a laugh, but go too far, then I might say something.

0:24:58 > 0:25:03But it's very, very rarely that we have had to say anything to anybody.

0:25:05 > 0:25:09- And then honeymoon.- Can't wait for that.- I'm more excited for that!

0:25:09 > 0:25:11THEY LAUGH

0:25:13 > 0:25:16Then it will be back to real life.

0:25:19 > 0:25:20Married life.

0:25:22 > 0:25:23Yeah.

0:25:27 > 0:25:30But before the realities of married life kick in,

0:25:30 > 0:25:33James has his stag weekend to get through.

0:25:33 > 0:25:36And there will be no concessions made for him there.

0:25:36 > 0:25:40To his friends and family, James is just one of the lads.

0:25:40 > 0:25:42Here we are.

0:25:42 > 0:25:46I'm on my stag do in Bristol, organised by Russ.

0:25:46 > 0:25:50We're just having a great time, it's been a fantastic weekend,

0:25:50 > 0:25:55it's great to be with Phil and Dad, and Russ, my best man,

0:25:55 > 0:25:59and some of my best friends here this weekend, it's fantastic.

0:25:59 > 0:26:01- Lloniannau.- Cheers.

0:26:01 > 0:26:04They've been doing all sorts of stuff.

0:26:04 > 0:26:08'This weekend we've just had so much fun, we've had so many laughs.'

0:26:08 > 0:26:10Oh, you...

0:26:12 > 0:26:15'They've had all sorts of stuff. They've had wax strips,

0:26:15 > 0:26:17'they've waxed my legs and my arms.'

0:26:19 > 0:26:20LAUGHTER

0:26:23 > 0:26:27'We just had a great time, they even made me wear a Snow White outfit

0:26:27 > 0:26:29'yesterday when we were out in the town,

0:26:29 > 0:26:33'in the city, which was just great, you know, it was good fun.'

0:26:33 > 0:26:36This is so politically incorrect right now!

0:26:36 > 0:26:38'I've always been typecast as a dwarf,

0:26:38 > 0:26:40'but yesterday I was Snow White!

0:26:43 > 0:26:47'Russ, who I have known for eight years, he's my best man.

0:26:47 > 0:26:49'My best friend as well.' Oh, you...

0:26:52 > 0:26:57'The story is that Russ and I met at the Beijing 2008 Paralympics,

0:26:57 > 0:27:00'where I was a young advocate for Wales.'

0:27:00 > 0:27:01I've got his leg.

0:27:01 > 0:27:03'And he was my roommate.'

0:27:03 > 0:27:06Three, two, one, go!

0:27:06 > 0:27:08Hang on! Oh, what are you doing?!

0:27:09 > 0:27:15Forward, left a bit. James... Right a bit! He's the captain of the ship!

0:27:15 > 0:27:18Aye! 'It's the 29th of May today,

0:27:18 > 0:27:23'which marks actually the four-year anniversary of the day that I

0:27:23 > 0:27:27'carried the Olympic Torch for London 2012.'

0:27:27 > 0:27:31And Russ very kindly nominated me without me knowing.

0:27:33 > 0:27:35It was an incredible day.

0:27:35 > 0:27:37Not just for the reason of carrying the

0:27:37 > 0:27:40Olympic Torch, but it was also the day that I met Chloe properly.

0:27:44 > 0:27:46I'd seen her around and said hello,

0:27:46 > 0:27:52but I wasn't officially introduced to her until that day,

0:27:52 > 0:27:55and that's why we're here this weekend, you know?

0:27:55 > 0:27:58I'm on a stag do because I'm getting married to her.

0:27:58 > 0:28:00And she's my world. I'm so excited.

0:28:02 > 0:28:04Next time on Born Small: The Wedding.

0:28:04 > 0:28:06Squeaky bum time.

0:28:08 > 0:28:13The big moment arrives. Although a little later than planned.

0:28:13 > 0:28:16I just can't believe, I've just realised that I've left the rings

0:28:16 > 0:28:18at home, on the bedside cabinet.

0:28:18 > 0:28:20CHEERING
