0:00:21 > 0:00:24and side-lined at the birth.

0:00:24 > 0:00:26Men do tend to take a back seat,

0:00:26 > 0:00:29we're just really there to take the abuse.

0:00:29 > 0:00:31But all that is about to change.

0:00:31 > 0:00:34This whole pregnancy is happening to me as well, I'm not pregnant

0:00:34 > 0:00:37but I'm in a sense going through it.

0:00:37 > 0:00:42In this brand-new series, first-time dads-to-be will get

0:00:42 > 0:00:46a crash course to hopefully become the perfect birthing partner.

0:00:47 > 0:00:49I haven't got a clue at the minute.

0:00:49 > 0:00:51I don't think I'm prepared at all.

0:00:51 > 0:00:54It's such an unknown to me, and that really scares me.

0:00:54 > 0:00:58Taking on this unique challenge are midwives with years of experience.

0:00:58 > 0:00:59So you tell me what you can feel.

0:00:59 > 0:01:03We've never done anything like this before, working with the father.

0:01:03 > 0:01:05It's going to be really different for us.

0:01:05 > 0:01:07And with each other for moral support...

0:01:07 > 0:01:09Thank God you're here.

0:01:09 > 0:01:12..these men will get closer to the delivery action

0:01:12 > 0:01:14than they could have ever imagined.

0:01:14 > 0:01:16He's done brilliant, absolutely brilliant.

0:01:16 > 0:01:19- I've got a tear in my eye now. - Yeah, yeah. Lovely, isn't it?

0:01:19 > 0:01:21But when push comes to shove...

0:01:21 > 0:01:23Come on, push, push!

0:01:23 > 0:01:26Keep on going, baby girl. Keep on going, baby girl.

0:01:26 > 0:01:28..will these dads deliver?

0:01:28 > 0:01:31It's the hardest thing I've ever done, this.

0:01:31 > 0:01:38This programme contains some strong language.

0:01:38 > 0:01:43Tonight, two clueless, first-time, dads-to-be in urgent need of help.

0:01:45 > 0:01:49Welcome back onto stage Mr Ashley James.

0:01:49 > 0:01:52# Relight my fire

0:01:52 > 0:01:55# Your love is my only desire... #

0:01:55 > 0:01:59Club singer Ashley and beautician Catherine from Stockton-On-Tees

0:01:59 > 0:02:01got together two-and-a-half years ago.

0:02:01 > 0:02:03# ..Cos I need I need your love... #

0:02:03 > 0:02:05He said, "I'm in a boy band," and I just burst out laughing.

0:02:05 > 0:02:07I was like, "No, you are kidding me."

0:02:07 > 0:02:10When we first went out on dates and stuff I was saying,

0:02:10 > 0:02:14"Yeah, I'm in a big boy band," pulling champagne out and stuff.

0:02:14 > 0:02:16She was buying it at first, yeah.

0:02:16 > 0:02:18He was trying to big it up and everything

0:02:18 > 0:02:20but, no, it didn't work really.

0:02:21 > 0:02:23Woo.

0:02:23 > 0:02:25Something of Ashley's must be working.

0:02:25 > 0:02:27Now there's a baby on the way.

0:02:27 > 0:02:30But with just eight weeks till the birth, Catherine's worried.

0:02:30 > 0:02:33He makes a joke out of pretty much everything.

0:02:33 > 0:02:35He doesn't actually take life seriously.

0:02:35 > 0:02:36- Cheers, bud.- Cheers, mate.

0:02:36 > 0:02:38He is a bit of a joker, he's one of the lads,

0:02:38 > 0:02:41he's not going to be able to cope at all.

0:02:42 > 0:02:45He knows absolutely nothing about it, like,

0:02:45 > 0:02:48he is clueless about the whole thing.

0:02:48 > 0:02:51As far we know, he's never handled a baby.

0:02:51 > 0:02:56And he's not very good with medical or sights of blood or anything.

0:02:56 > 0:02:58I am quite squeamish

0:02:58 > 0:03:02when it comes to stuff like that, yeah, the blood and stuff.

0:03:02 > 0:03:04I'm scared really, but I also want to be there

0:03:04 > 0:03:07when the baby opens his eyes.

0:03:07 > 0:03:10So a joker who's squeamish and petrified?

0:03:11 > 0:03:15With just eight weeks to get from clueless lad to clued-up dad,

0:03:15 > 0:03:17Ashley's going on a crash course in maternity.

0:03:17 > 0:03:19The reason I do want to do this is

0:03:19 > 0:03:23so he does take things a bit more seriously and he does grow up a bit.

0:03:23 > 0:03:26Will this terrified boy band wannabe

0:03:26 > 0:03:29bottle the biggest performance of his life?

0:03:29 > 0:03:30Hopefully they'll teach me

0:03:30 > 0:03:33how to carry on cos I haven't got a clue at the minute.

0:03:40 > 0:03:42There's a bee!

0:03:43 > 0:03:48300 miles away in London, another dad-to-be in need.

0:03:48 > 0:03:52Computer programmer, and big kid, Don

0:03:52 > 0:03:56has been looked after by wife Georgia for the last six years.

0:03:56 > 0:03:59Georgia deals with the money side of things. I get an allowance.

0:03:59 > 0:04:01It's just better this way cos I would spend

0:04:01 > 0:04:04the money on absolute rubbish if it was left up to me.

0:04:04 > 0:04:07Don is absolutely and undeniably geeky

0:04:07 > 0:04:10and he is quite proud of that as well.

0:04:10 > 0:04:14He is a very naughty boy and he loves toys and the cartoon.

0:04:14 > 0:04:15Sorry, son.

0:04:15 > 0:04:17I'm quite a big kid, you know.

0:04:17 > 0:04:20I still play with toys, I still read a lot of comics,

0:04:20 > 0:04:23I still watch cartoons, you know. I love all that stuff.

0:04:23 > 0:04:2724-year-old Don even has his own man-room for his toys.

0:04:27 > 0:04:30The man-room is where all my gadgets live, I've got my big TV in there.

0:04:30 > 0:04:34All my consoles, all my toys, all my guitars and all my computers.

0:04:34 > 0:04:38So that's where I can be manly.

0:04:39 > 0:04:43Geeky big kid Don is desperate to get more involved

0:04:43 > 0:04:45at the birth of his baby girl.

0:04:45 > 0:04:49But with eight weeks to go, he's a daddy disaster waiting to happen.

0:04:49 > 0:04:51He can be quite clumsy,

0:04:51 > 0:04:54he'll drop things or just be a little bit heavy handed.

0:04:54 > 0:04:57Just watch the hole, you don't want to fall over.

0:04:57 > 0:05:01- No, oh ahh. Oh, are you OK, you OK? - I'm fine.- Did I hit the baby?- No.

0:05:01 > 0:05:04He's not the most safe of people to be around with a baby, I guess.

0:05:04 > 0:05:07He's fairly clumsy, a bit of a weight bumbling around.

0:05:07 > 0:05:09I just said you've got to watch the hole.

0:05:09 > 0:05:11Sorry, I didn't see it!

0:05:11 > 0:05:14I'm quite big, I've got really big hands and because of my eyes,

0:05:14 > 0:05:17I don't have much depth perception, so it can get quite tricky sometimes.

0:05:17 > 0:05:20Clumsy hands, man toys, and head lost in cyberspace.

0:05:20 > 0:05:23How will Georgia's game boy handle the birth?

0:05:23 > 0:05:26If it was right now, I think Don definitely would struggle,

0:05:26 > 0:05:28he wouldn't be able to cope.

0:05:28 > 0:05:31It's such an unknown to me, and that really scares me cos I don't

0:05:31 > 0:05:35want to the muppet at the top of the bed holding Georgia's hand.

0:05:40 > 0:05:43- So how long are you going to be? - Not long.

0:05:43 > 0:05:46So, one clueless and squeamish dad-to be...

0:05:46 > 0:05:50Right, I got my DS, a notebook and a pencil.

0:05:50 > 0:05:53..and one childish and clumsy

0:05:53 > 0:05:55have both signed up to this unique challenge...

0:05:55 > 0:05:57See you later.

0:05:57 > 0:05:58..to transform them from boys...

0:05:58 > 0:06:03- So how are you going to write notes, Don?- Oh, yeah.

0:06:03 > 0:06:06..into super dads in the delivery room in just eight weeks.

0:06:06 > 0:06:08- Bye.- Bye.

0:06:08 > 0:06:11I've not forgotten anything this time. Oh, my iPad!

0:06:13 > 0:06:15Taking on this huge task are midwives with

0:06:15 > 0:06:17over 30 years of experience between them.

0:06:19 > 0:06:22Judith Mills has seen it all when men and maternity mix.

0:06:22 > 0:06:25Over the years, I've seen some dads who don't want to be

0:06:25 > 0:06:27part of the pregnancy, let alone the labour.

0:06:27 > 0:06:30I'm just going to do your blood pressure, is that all right?

0:06:30 > 0:06:33And then there's some dads who really would like to play

0:06:33 > 0:06:35an active role.

0:06:35 > 0:06:36Now she's got her hands full,

0:06:36 > 0:06:38whipping an anxious Ashley into shape.

0:06:38 > 0:06:40Hi, I'm Judith Mills.

0:06:40 > 0:06:44Hopefully this one-to-one tuition will encourage those dads to

0:06:44 > 0:06:46know what they can do, how they can do it

0:06:46 > 0:06:49and what the benefits of that is for this new chapter in their lives.

0:06:49 > 0:06:53Hi, it's Don, I'm here to see a midwife. Thank you.

0:06:53 > 0:06:55Hi, my name's Liz, welcome to Queen Elizabeth.

0:06:57 > 0:07:01Don and Georgia's team of midwives is led by Liz Ware.

0:07:01 > 0:07:04It's a very, very in-depth subject, midwifery, you have to study

0:07:04 > 0:07:08for three years to become a midwife and it's very, very intense.

0:07:08 > 0:07:11She was found to be 2cm dilated, fully effaced.

0:07:11 > 0:07:15Liz and her team have delivered hundreds of babies,

0:07:15 > 0:07:17but how will they deal with the biggest kid of all?

0:07:17 > 0:07:20We've not done anything like this before,

0:07:20 > 0:07:23working with the father is going to be really different for us.

0:07:23 > 0:07:26Push, push, push, push, everything you've got.

0:07:26 > 0:07:28I think we have a long road ahead.

0:07:30 > 0:07:33At first, you won't have any clue about what it's like.

0:07:33 > 0:07:36Not got a clue. It's just a big mound to me.

0:07:36 > 0:07:39It's lesson one for the dads.

0:07:39 > 0:07:41Around one third of men choose not to learn anything

0:07:41 > 0:07:43about their partner's pregnancy.

0:07:43 > 0:07:46So first, the midwives have come up with a way

0:07:46 > 0:07:49for the lads to understand what's it's actually like to be pregnant.

0:07:49 > 0:07:53This is what you're going to be wearing for the next 24 hours.

0:07:53 > 0:07:55You're going to wear this

0:07:55 > 0:07:57so you can experience what it feels like to be pregnant.

0:07:57 > 0:07:59Yeah, all right.

0:07:59 > 0:08:01What Georgia's going through, how heavy it is.

0:08:01 > 0:08:04Yeah, that's, er, it's not light, no.

0:08:04 > 0:08:06How debilitating pregnancy can be, OK?

0:08:06 > 0:08:09- Wow.- So let's get you rigged up.

0:08:11 > 0:08:15Their partners will gain on average two stone over nine months.

0:08:15 > 0:08:19This belly will make Don 37 weeks pregnant instantly.

0:08:19 > 0:08:23The midwives hope it will make him more sympathetic towards Georgia.

0:08:23 > 0:08:27Over the next 24 hours, you will really appreciate

0:08:27 > 0:08:28pregnancy in a different way.

0:08:28 > 0:08:31See you guys later. Say bye to the baby.

0:08:31 > 0:08:32BOTH: Bye, baby.

0:08:32 > 0:08:35- Bye, Don. See you. - Bloody hell, it's hard to walk!

0:08:35 > 0:08:38I think he's going to be surprised how challenging it's going to be.

0:08:38 > 0:08:40I think he's quite laid back at the moment.

0:08:40 > 0:08:43I think he doesn't quite realise the uphill task he has ahead.

0:08:49 > 0:08:51Do you want to hear what he actually says?

0:08:51 > 0:08:54You've got two weeks to lose that weight after you've had that baby.

0:08:54 > 0:08:56Yeah, but I'm only messing about when I say that. I'm only joking.

0:08:56 > 0:08:58You've said it like 100 times.

0:08:58 > 0:09:02Unsympathetic Ashley also needs to get some empathy for Catherine.

0:09:02 > 0:09:04So he's getting a belly as well.

0:09:04 > 0:09:06I never signed up for this.

0:09:06 > 0:09:09I do hope that from wearing the empathy belly,

0:09:09 > 0:09:11he will be a little bit more thoughtful

0:09:11 > 0:09:13with Catherine having that extra weight

0:09:13 > 0:09:17and give him an idea of how women might feel during pregnancy.

0:09:18 > 0:09:21- All right, baby.- Hello.- Hello.

0:09:21 > 0:09:22SHE LAUGHS

0:09:27 > 0:09:28Notice anything different?

0:09:28 > 0:09:32Erm, you've put on a bit of weight, haven't you?

0:09:32 > 0:09:36I've put on a little bit. I can't really hug you.

0:09:36 > 0:09:38- Now you see how I feel.- Yeah.

0:09:38 > 0:09:41Oh, that's cheered me up, I like that.

0:09:41 > 0:09:44- Go on, get me a drink, where's my...? - Oh, shut up!

0:09:44 > 0:09:47THEY LAUGH I'm further along than you.

0:09:47 > 0:09:52The dads-to-be must wear their bellies for the next 24 hours

0:09:52 > 0:09:53without a break.

0:09:55 > 0:09:57I'm hoping this vest holds my boobs in.

0:09:57 > 0:10:00But it just looks stupid. Look.

0:10:00 > 0:10:03You've got a nice pair there, Ash.

0:10:03 > 0:10:05This is stupid!

0:10:05 > 0:10:09As part of their crash course, the lads have arranged to meet up.

0:10:09 > 0:10:13I think it is really important for dads to get together to discuss

0:10:13 > 0:10:15their experiences and what their perceptions

0:10:15 > 0:10:17and what their ideas are.

0:10:17 > 0:10:19And the only way Ashley and Don will recognise each other...

0:10:19 > 0:10:21I look an absolute idiot.

0:10:23 > 0:10:25..is by their bumps.

0:10:25 > 0:10:28Oh, I can't walk round like this, can I?

0:10:28 > 0:10:32I can't walk round like this. I'm going to look an absolute idiot.

0:10:32 > 0:10:35Put your hoodie on and see what it's like.

0:10:35 > 0:10:38Put me hoodie on, this hoodie, it's not going to make a change.

0:10:38 > 0:10:39I'm not putting that on.

0:10:39 > 0:10:42Ashley, I have to walk around like a fat, ugly cow.

0:10:42 > 0:10:45Yeah, but you're a woman, I'm a man. I'm not supposed to look like this.

0:10:45 > 0:10:47Well, take the boobs out then.

0:10:52 > 0:10:54The joys of being pregnant, Don.

0:10:56 > 0:10:59I need an extra large shirt.

0:10:59 > 0:11:04Oh, my God. Oh, my God.

0:11:04 > 0:11:05What an idiot I look.

0:11:11 > 0:11:13Bye.

0:11:29 > 0:11:32I think this is the place I'm supposed to be meeting

0:11:32 > 0:11:35the other dad, so I'm looking out for someone that's like,

0:11:35 > 0:11:37got a bit of a waddle, that's going to be waddling down

0:11:37 > 0:11:40and coming to meet me.

0:11:40 > 0:11:43There's someone coming here with quite a big belly.

0:11:43 > 0:11:48A pair of boobs as well. This must be the other dad.

0:11:48 > 0:11:51All right. How you doing, mate? Are you all right?

0:11:51 > 0:11:53- All right, yeah.- I'm Ashley. - Nice to meet you, I'm Don.

0:11:53 > 0:11:56Don. You got your boobs in as well.

0:11:56 > 0:11:59- Yeah, these come with boobs. - Can you not take them ones out?

0:11:59 > 0:12:01Nah, you can't take these out, no.

0:12:01 > 0:12:04Now with each other for moral support, the midwives have

0:12:04 > 0:12:08arranged for Ashley and Don to meet some women in the same boat...

0:12:08 > 0:12:11- All right, I'm Ashley, nice to meet you.- And you.

0:12:11 > 0:12:13- I'm Don, nice to meet you. - Hello, Don.

0:12:13 > 0:12:15..for a session of pregnancy yoga.

0:12:19 > 0:12:22Right, we're going to start off with the usual circle round,

0:12:22 > 0:12:26and this morning what you're finding positive about pregnancy.

0:12:26 > 0:12:29I'm Zania, I'm due end of June.

0:12:29 > 0:12:33The things positive about pregnancy is, erm,

0:12:33 > 0:12:38to feel closeness with the baby straight away.

0:12:38 > 0:12:43Yeah, I'm Ashley, I'm due in about seven weeks.

0:12:43 > 0:12:47Best thing about having a bit of a bump like this is that

0:12:47 > 0:12:50I can rest my tea on bump when I'm having a cup of tea.

0:12:50 > 0:12:52Hi, I'm Don.

0:12:52 > 0:12:55The best part of this pregnancy is that I woke up 37 weeks pregnant.

0:12:55 > 0:12:57The dads need to pay attention

0:12:57 > 0:13:00to get an idea of what it's really like to be pregnant.

0:13:00 > 0:13:03We're going to start off with a short breathing exercise.

0:13:03 > 0:13:08They might even learn how to help their partners relax during labour.

0:13:08 > 0:13:12Being aware of what your own pattern of breathing is like.

0:13:12 > 0:13:14If they can take it seriously.

0:13:14 > 0:13:17Face relaxed, just let your breathing do that work.

0:13:19 > 0:13:21So moving your pelvis.

0:13:21 > 0:13:24You can start it off quite small if you want

0:13:24 > 0:13:29or you can do bigger circles, and just see how that feels.

0:13:29 > 0:13:31And then in your own time,

0:13:31 > 0:13:35bring your arms up right over your head, down.

0:13:39 > 0:13:41Focus, yes?

0:13:41 > 0:13:44This whole wearing the belly thing is well, pretty, pretty intense.

0:13:44 > 0:13:47I think definitely I'm a bit more aware of how,

0:13:47 > 0:13:52cos if anything it's like, you're bigger, you're really a lot bigger.

0:13:52 > 0:13:55And you sort of bump into things. Your centre of gravity has changed

0:13:55 > 0:13:59and you can definitely feel that that's not my balance point any more.

0:14:01 > 0:14:02Don's a nice guy.

0:14:02 > 0:14:06It'll be interesting talking about wearing these suits and that

0:14:06 > 0:14:08and his feelings about it and, er,

0:14:08 > 0:14:14yeah, talking about whether his missus is a bit whingey like mine.

0:14:14 > 0:14:17So...nice having that in common, really.

0:14:17 > 0:14:21Yoga over, the boys make a break for a pregnancy free zone.

0:14:21 > 0:14:22So have you met your midwife yet?

0:14:22 > 0:14:25Yeah, yeah, I've had one session. What about you?

0:14:25 > 0:14:28Yeah, it's just unreal how much there is to learn and that.

0:14:28 > 0:14:29It's not an easy job at all.

0:14:29 > 0:14:33- I'm nervous.- Really? I'm, I'm... - I'm a bit scared, yeah.

0:14:33 > 0:14:34I want it short and sweet.

0:14:34 > 0:14:37I've been told some story about some lady who gave birth in her sleep.

0:14:37 > 0:14:41That would be all this training wasted though, wouldn't it,

0:14:41 > 0:14:42if she gives birth in her sleep?

0:14:42 > 0:14:44Cheers, mate. Best of luck.

0:14:44 > 0:14:47Good luck, good luck. I'm sure we'll meet again.

0:14:47 > 0:14:49I'm sure we'll need the luck as well.

0:14:49 > 0:14:52They're going to need more than just luck.

0:14:52 > 0:14:54D-day is fast approaching for the dads.

0:14:57 > 0:15:03Ohh, Ashley! Oh, look at the size of this spider. Get it.

0:15:03 > 0:15:05That? That's a daddy long legs.

0:15:05 > 0:15:07Ashley, I stick my hands in there to clean up,

0:15:07 > 0:15:08please will you just get it.

0:15:08 > 0:15:12Just six weeks to the births and there's another big lesson looming.

0:15:12 > 0:15:15I'm off to see Judith and we're going to have another session,

0:15:15 > 0:15:18learn a bit more stuff, hopefully.

0:15:18 > 0:15:20I don't know what I'll be doing today though.

0:15:20 > 0:15:24I hope it's not nothing to do with big bellies or owt like that.

0:15:24 > 0:15:25Big boobs.

0:15:25 > 0:15:28After a session each, they're already on their way to getting to

0:15:28 > 0:15:31grips with pregnancy and even childbirth.

0:15:31 > 0:15:33It should be quite fun though.

0:15:33 > 0:15:35I'll sit there like that, I'll catch the baby.

0:15:35 > 0:15:37Or maybe not.

0:15:37 > 0:15:38Pop out.

0:15:38 > 0:15:41I'm hoping the baby doesn't pop out like that, Don.

0:15:41 > 0:15:45Why? Surely that would be easier than some strainy-strainy-strainy

0:15:45 > 0:15:46with a bit of pull.

0:15:46 > 0:15:48I don't think they pull the baby.

0:15:48 > 0:15:51- I've got a lot to learn. - Not like that, anyway.

0:15:52 > 0:15:54Midwife lesson two.

0:15:54 > 0:15:58The dads must learn how to get more hands on during pregnancy.

0:15:58 > 0:16:01Like over half the men in the UK,

0:16:01 > 0:16:03Ashley and Don worry that they won't do a good job in the birth.

0:16:03 > 0:16:06And so far, Ashley's been too nervous

0:16:06 > 0:16:07to even touch Catherine's bump.

0:16:07 > 0:16:10What I'd really like Ashley to get out of this session

0:16:10 > 0:16:13is not to be concerned about touching Catherine.

0:16:13 > 0:16:16To give him that confidence that he can touch

0:16:16 > 0:16:21and start to visualise where this baby is inside.

0:16:21 > 0:16:24Today they're learning how to tell the different

0:16:24 > 0:16:27positions of a baby in the womb through touch alone.

0:16:27 > 0:16:32So let's say this baby is in that position.

0:16:32 > 0:16:36If you can imagine feeling baby, it's going to be quite firm there.

0:16:36 > 0:16:38- Yeah?- Yeah, yeah.

0:16:38 > 0:16:40Where on this side it would be a lot softer,

0:16:40 > 0:16:42and if I'm very lucky, he might start doing that

0:16:42 > 0:16:45- and I might feel a limb. - Do you know what she's saying?

0:16:45 > 0:16:47Yeah, I know what she's saying, yeah.

0:16:47 > 0:16:48I'm going to test you in a minute.

0:16:48 > 0:16:51I've been feeling where the baby's lying on a dummy, so now I'm going

0:16:51 > 0:16:55to actually feel where the baby's lying in Catherine's belly, I think.

0:16:55 > 0:16:58But I'm hoping it's Judith doing all the feeling cos I don't want

0:16:58 > 0:17:03to feel...in the wrong place or hurt the baby. I am really nervous.

0:17:03 > 0:17:07I start from the top and work my fingers all the way down.

0:17:07 > 0:17:10Feeling the bump is also a huge hurdle for a heavy handed

0:17:10 > 0:17:12and clumsy Don.

0:17:12 > 0:17:15If it's a bum, you'll sort of feel the whole body moving with

0:17:15 > 0:17:18the baby, the head is quite manoeuvrable, OK?

0:17:18 > 0:17:19Scary, scary.

0:17:19 > 0:17:22Feeling the baby's position in the womb is a skill that takes

0:17:22 > 0:17:24midwives years of practice to master.

0:17:24 > 0:17:26So do you want to have a go? Tell us what you think?

0:17:26 > 0:17:30Neither dad has done this before and must be under strict supervision.

0:17:30 > 0:17:33Yeah, go on then. I'm a bit scared, really.

0:17:33 > 0:17:37I don't know how. I'm quite heavy handed.

0:17:37 > 0:17:39I don't want to poke her in the eye or something like that.

0:17:39 > 0:17:40No, you wouldn't.

0:17:40 > 0:17:44If it's not hurting Georgia, then it's fine.

0:17:44 > 0:17:46OK. Is that hurting?

0:17:46 > 0:17:48Not at all. I can barely feel what you're touching.

0:17:48 > 0:17:50I can feel something there, maybe.

0:17:50 > 0:17:53So have you got any idea where you think this baby might be?

0:17:53 > 0:17:55I'll have a guess.

0:17:55 > 0:17:57OK, do you want to draw it for us?

0:17:58 > 0:18:01Are you all right if I draw on you, babes?

0:18:01 > 0:18:03This is going to be an interesting drawing.

0:18:03 > 0:18:05- Right so, bum.- Sorry.

0:18:06 > 0:18:09I'm going to guess there's some hands here.

0:18:12 > 0:18:15Now I'll draw the head.

0:18:15 > 0:18:17I think that's the baby.

0:18:17 > 0:18:19And you're absolutely right.

0:18:19 > 0:18:23The baby's bum is right up here, the back's all the way round here

0:18:23 > 0:18:25because it's all hard all the way round,

0:18:25 > 0:18:28- and the head is right down here. Well done, Don.- Well done.

0:18:28 > 0:18:30- Thank you.- Well done.

0:18:30 > 0:18:31Success for Don.

0:18:31 > 0:18:33Have a little feel.

0:18:33 > 0:18:36Now it's Ashley's turn. If he's too scared to get hands on here,

0:18:36 > 0:18:39he's not going to be any use to Catherine at delivery.

0:18:39 > 0:18:41You can touch us, you know.

0:18:41 > 0:18:45I don't want to, er, press too hard so I daren't press too hard.

0:18:45 > 0:18:47I tell you what, you put your hand on

0:18:47 > 0:18:53and I'll put my hand over the top. You tell me what you can feel.

0:18:53 > 0:18:56- I can't feel nothing there. - Is it nice and smooth?

0:18:56 > 0:18:59- I don't want to touch it any more. - Stop it, I like it.

0:18:59 > 0:19:01Listen to Catherine, she'll soon tell you.

0:19:01 > 0:19:03There, there, there!

0:19:03 > 0:19:06Yeah. So where do you think it's lying, Ashley?

0:19:06 > 0:19:11Well, I would say the back is there, because when I felt on this side,

0:19:11 > 0:19:14it's quite knobbly, so it'd be like legs or arms.

0:19:14 > 0:19:16So let me have a little feel, I'll feel now, eh?

0:19:16 > 0:19:17Yeah, you have a feel, yeah.

0:19:17 > 0:19:20So you thought baby's back was on that side, Ashley?

0:19:20 > 0:19:23- Yeah.- Yeah? The back's actually on the right.

0:19:23 > 0:19:24Is it? So I got it totally wrong.

0:19:24 > 0:19:26Yeah, but that's not a problem is it,

0:19:26 > 0:19:28because the biggest thing is you're just touching,

0:19:28 > 0:19:30and not being frightened to touch.

0:19:30 > 0:19:32That's the thing, I didn't touch hard enough probably,

0:19:32 > 0:19:34but...I didn't dare.

0:19:34 > 0:19:35Don't be frightened to touch.

0:19:35 > 0:19:37Loads throughout the pregnancy,

0:19:37 > 0:19:40I've been like trying to get him to press on and feel the baby

0:19:40 > 0:19:43when the baby's kicking and all that kind of stuff.

0:19:43 > 0:19:46So hopefully like Judith said, he'll press on gradually more

0:19:46 > 0:19:50and more each day until he can eventually press on properly.

0:19:50 > 0:19:53So the boys have learnt where their babies are,

0:19:53 > 0:19:58now they've got under six weeks to work out how they come out.

0:20:05 > 0:20:10- I think there's a crap load to do. - Yeah, what do we have to do?

0:20:10 > 0:20:12Erm, move these somewhere.

0:20:12 > 0:20:16Don's learning that he needs to make some big sacrifices

0:20:16 > 0:20:18for his baby girl.

0:20:18 > 0:20:22With only two bedrooms, the man-room's got to go.

0:20:22 > 0:20:27So today we are turning the man-room into the daddy-daughter room.

0:20:27 > 0:20:32So it's going to be half man, half daughter.

0:20:32 > 0:20:35But he's not losing all of it, Georgia's letting him keep half.

0:20:35 > 0:20:38The reason I'm still allowed half a man-room is

0:20:38 > 0:20:41because Georgia doesn't want my man stuff anywhere else,

0:20:41 > 0:20:44so at least this way she won't have to just walk around and there'll be

0:20:44 > 0:20:49a robot here or, you know, a little toy here or something like that.

0:20:49 > 0:20:52So I think this way she sort of, she still contains it.

0:20:53 > 0:20:55You all right?

0:20:55 > 0:20:57No, it's heavy.

0:20:57 > 0:20:59It's not that heavy.

0:20:59 > 0:21:01Yeah, it's cos I'm holding all the weight.

0:21:03 > 0:21:06Saying goodbye to half his man-room has helped Don focus on fatherhood.

0:21:06 > 0:21:08Everything in the bedroom.

0:21:08 > 0:21:10I'll be a nice mix.

0:21:10 > 0:21:13It's the daddy-daughter room. It's nicer this way.

0:21:19 > 0:21:20Going in here for one, man?

0:21:21 > 0:21:24Paternity's also getting closer for Ashley.

0:21:24 > 0:21:29Tonight he's doing some special preparation of his own.

0:21:29 > 0:21:31Just having a big session really on the town.

0:21:31 > 0:21:33It's going to be totally different when the baby's born.

0:21:33 > 0:21:36I'm not going to be going out as much so...

0:21:36 > 0:21:38Tonight, just going to get wrecked, really.

0:21:38 > 0:21:40Have a good time, have a good laugh.

0:21:44 > 0:21:47A bit of Dutch courage could be exactly what Ashley needs

0:21:47 > 0:21:50to help him come to terms with impending fatherhood.

0:21:51 > 0:21:54Sort of scared. I've been thinking about it loads over the last

0:21:54 > 0:21:56couple of days, couple of weeks.

0:21:56 > 0:21:58But tonight I feel a lot better.

0:21:58 > 0:22:01I feel ready to be a dad and that. I'm excited about the future.

0:22:05 > 0:22:09I've got a lot of work to do but the waters shouldn't break tonight.

0:22:09 > 0:22:12So hopefully plenty of drinks, a bit of dancing, chippy on my way home,

0:22:12 > 0:22:15night's a good 'un. Have a good time.

0:22:19 > 0:22:21I might have a Sambuca.

0:22:23 > 0:22:25Two jugs of cocktail.

0:22:25 > 0:22:27I'm an expectant father.

0:22:27 > 0:22:31I'm going to help deliver the baby with the midwives.

0:22:31 > 0:22:35Can I have two Jager-bombs, mate, and two apple sours, pal. Cheers.

0:22:42 > 0:22:45You've ripped my pants.

0:22:45 > 0:22:48Good job it's the end of the night.

0:22:55 > 0:22:59In London, the daddy-daughter room is finished.

0:22:59 > 0:23:02If you look at it from this way, daddy side,

0:23:02 > 0:23:05grey gun metal wall, robots, computer.

0:23:05 > 0:23:09And if you look on the other side, pink girly looking wall, cot,

0:23:09 > 0:23:11pink bedding.

0:23:11 > 0:23:15Nice compromise. I'll just spend all my time looking this way.

0:23:15 > 0:23:17Don may have lost half his man-room,

0:23:17 > 0:23:20but now he's got a whole new set of toys to play with.

0:23:23 > 0:23:27Steriliser, baby monitor, breast pump, a little bin,

0:23:27 > 0:23:30you put smelly nappies in there, bottle warmer, baby light,

0:23:30 > 0:23:34baby sling, you can put baby anything in here.

0:23:34 > 0:23:36I'm into gadgets at the best of times,

0:23:36 > 0:23:40now I've got an excuse to get into a new whole sector of gadgetry.

0:23:44 > 0:23:47I suppose he could be looking at this process in the same way

0:23:47 > 0:23:51as he would attack a game, in that he knows that he needs

0:23:51 > 0:23:54to do everything perfectly before he can go onto the next level.

0:23:57 > 0:24:00I'm dead nervous, really nervous.

0:24:00 > 0:24:03It's going to be nerve-wracking. So, yeah.

0:24:03 > 0:24:05With time getting tight,

0:24:05 > 0:24:08Judith has called Ashley in for a special lesson.

0:24:08 > 0:24:10I'm going to show Ashley the placenta.

0:24:10 > 0:24:13We don't know how he's going to be on the day and a lot of dads

0:24:13 > 0:24:16may be a little bit frightened of blood and what it looks like.

0:24:16 > 0:24:19Hopefully, he won't faint on me.

0:24:19 > 0:24:23Ashley's fear of blood makes passing out at the birth a real risk.

0:24:25 > 0:24:28Before we start, I'll need you to wear a little

0:24:28 > 0:24:29bit of protective clothing.

0:24:29 > 0:24:32Now he must face his biggest fear.

0:24:34 > 0:24:36All dressed up, aren't we?

0:24:37 > 0:24:41OK, so what I have in here is I have the placenta.

0:24:41 > 0:24:43What is a placenta like?

0:24:43 > 0:24:49This is what helps to feed the baby, OK?

0:24:49 > 0:24:50Oh, my God.

0:24:50 > 0:24:54This is a beautiful, healthy placenta. Are you OK there? Yeah?

0:24:54 > 0:24:56Yeah, on the day of the birth,

0:24:56 > 0:24:59is there going to be as much blood as that?

0:24:59 > 0:25:02Probably. So this is the bag that the baby's in, the bag of waters.

0:25:02 > 0:25:05It's crazy isn't it, how it all works.

0:25:05 > 0:25:07- It's amazing, isn't it? - It's amazing, isn't it?

0:25:07 > 0:25:10You can have a touch, you'll see what the texture's like.

0:25:10 > 0:25:13That's not very nice that, is it? It's horrible.

0:25:13 > 0:25:17- Oh, I think it's quite silky. - Oh, my God.

0:25:17 > 0:25:19It's lovely and silky.

0:25:21 > 0:25:24Seeing the blood there, that's a lot for me.

0:25:24 > 0:25:29It's...too much. Pretty much done. Are we done now?

0:25:29 > 0:25:33- Because I'm...- Yeah. - Take these gloves off now.

0:25:33 > 0:25:37Time's running out for Ashley and now Judith's anxious.

0:25:37 > 0:25:40I think he was a bit surprised about the blood.

0:25:40 > 0:25:42There might be a little bit more than that at delivery.

0:25:42 > 0:25:45And I know he was a little bit wary of the amount

0:25:45 > 0:25:48and really there wasn't a great deal.

0:25:48 > 0:25:51I think he may be in for a shock, Ashley may be in for a shock.

0:25:52 > 0:25:56I expected placenta to be small like a ball or something.

0:25:56 > 0:26:00Just like a meatball you have with spaghetti but it's massive.

0:26:00 > 0:26:05It was just covered in blood. What them midwives do, it's unreal.

0:26:05 > 0:26:08It's made me realise today, like, how much there is to learn.

0:26:08 > 0:26:11It's just absolutely loads.

0:26:12 > 0:26:15I think today was like a shock for him.

0:26:15 > 0:26:18I think he's thinking now, oh God, things are actually going to

0:26:18 > 0:26:20start getting serious now, it's not just a mess about.

0:26:20 > 0:26:24The massive task ahead has finally dawned on Ashley.

0:26:24 > 0:26:26And the clock's ticking.

0:26:26 > 0:26:29We're looking for the heart-rate to be above 100 beats a minute.

0:26:29 > 0:26:32The lads have just four weeks to knuckle down

0:26:32 > 0:26:35if they want to step up in the delivery room.

0:26:44 > 0:26:46I feel a bit like they're more mature woman's breasts.

0:26:46 > 0:26:50If I had to guess what a more mature woman's breasts were like,

0:26:50 > 0:26:51this is what I'd say.

0:26:51 > 0:26:52Don't be so cheeky.

0:26:54 > 0:26:55He's been doing his homework

0:26:55 > 0:26:58and he's been making an effort to learn what he's meant to.

0:26:58 > 0:27:04How to detect pregnancy in cows and heifers with rectal palpations."

0:27:04 > 0:27:06"What do you think we can do to encourage women to use

0:27:06 > 0:27:09"alternate positions in first and second stage of labour?"

0:27:09 > 0:27:11These questions this morning,

0:27:11 > 0:27:13on my homework I was supposed to have done,

0:27:13 > 0:27:16well, what I have tried doing, it's just...

0:27:16 > 0:27:18You've just looked at it a second ago.

0:27:19 > 0:27:22Ashley's definitely more understanding about me

0:27:22 > 0:27:24being pregnant now.

0:27:24 > 0:27:26I think this whole process has massively helped out.

0:27:26 > 0:27:29Fabulous position though, Ashley. So what you going to do here?

0:27:29 > 0:27:31It's a fabulous position.

0:27:31 > 0:27:33SHE GROANS

0:27:33 > 0:27:34Oh wow, look at that!

0:27:34 > 0:27:35Oh, my God.

0:27:35 > 0:27:37There's a lot of blood there.

0:27:39 > 0:27:40Is that a hand?

0:27:40 > 0:27:43Wow, the last bit comes out really quick.

0:27:43 > 0:27:46That was all right, do you reckon you can handle that?

0:27:46 > 0:27:48- I hope so, yeah. - DON LAUGHS

0:27:50 > 0:27:53With the birth looming, Ashley's about to be put to the test

0:27:53 > 0:27:56with his last, and toughest lesson.

0:27:56 > 0:27:58Today's going to be the crunch, I think.

0:27:58 > 0:28:01We're going to get down to the nitty gritty of the delivery,

0:28:01 > 0:28:04the actual giving birth to the baby.

0:28:04 > 0:28:07I'd like to see what he feels his role is at that point

0:28:07 > 0:28:12because I think that's really key, and then I'll know how ready he is.

0:28:12 > 0:28:14Have a seat on there, Ashley.

0:28:14 > 0:28:17Catherine and Ashley are planning a water-birth.

0:28:17 > 0:28:19- Behind it?- Behind, yeah.

0:28:19 > 0:28:21And Judith wants to see if Ashley's confident enough

0:28:21 > 0:28:24to touch his baby when it's born.

0:28:24 > 0:28:27But don't forget, he's never even held a baby before.

0:28:27 > 0:28:31Baby's head will come down and we'll probably see it.

0:28:31 > 0:28:33Now what you can do there, Ashley, feel that baby's head.

0:28:33 > 0:28:36I don't want to feel his head cos I don't want to hurt him.

0:28:36 > 0:28:38You're not going to hurt him, Ashley.

0:28:38 > 0:28:40It's just really to say, "Oh."

0:28:40 > 0:28:42See I don't know how I'm going to feel, I might look

0:28:42 > 0:28:44and see a bit of blood and topple over.

0:28:44 > 0:28:46You will see bit of blood probably,

0:28:46 > 0:28:48but it's quite tight at that point.

0:28:48 > 0:28:50Then as he comes out, get your hands in,

0:28:50 > 0:28:54and then bring him up and out of the water.

0:28:55 > 0:28:58Can you bring him out of the water cos I'll be scared?

0:28:58 > 0:28:59I've never held a baby before.

0:28:59 > 0:29:02I don't know whether he'll be slimy, I don't know what he's...

0:29:02 > 0:29:05He's in the water. He won't be slimy cos he's been washed off.

0:29:05 > 0:29:07But I would rather him be in your hands, anyway.

0:29:07 > 0:29:09When he's out of the water, he can't go back in,

0:29:09 > 0:29:11cos when he comes out the water,

0:29:11 > 0:29:14that's when he's going to take his first breath.

0:29:14 > 0:29:16That's his first ever breath?

0:29:20 > 0:29:24- And he takes his first breath then? - Yeah, when it comes out.

0:29:24 > 0:29:27Is it going to, like, scream and cry and look lovely?

0:29:28 > 0:29:30Er, I think he's going to cry.

0:29:30 > 0:29:32He might be a little bit shell-shocked,

0:29:32 > 0:29:34sometimes they don't instantly cry, so don't expect...

0:29:34 > 0:29:37- I've got a little tear in my eye now.- Yeah, it's lovely, isn't it?

0:29:37 > 0:29:39Little tear in my eye.

0:29:41 > 0:29:46Just felt very real. It was like my real baby was being born. Mad.

0:29:46 > 0:29:50It's a happy real though, it's not like err...

0:29:50 > 0:29:53I'm crying cos I'm sad. I'm crying cos I'm happy.

0:29:53 > 0:29:55I can't image what it's going to be like on the day

0:29:55 > 0:29:58if that's how overwhelmed I'm getting now.

0:30:01 > 0:30:03Becoming a dad is finally sinking in.

0:30:03 > 0:30:06But there's still a big question mark over how Ashley will cope

0:30:06 > 0:30:09when push comes to shove.

0:30:09 > 0:30:14You can give all the information, but how much of that information

0:30:14 > 0:30:18he uses and utilises on the day, time will tell.

0:30:25 > 0:30:29There's just three weeks to get ready for the big day.

0:30:29 > 0:30:32There's a small percentage of women

0:30:32 > 0:30:34who have an abnormal liver function.

0:30:34 > 0:30:37But Catherine and Ashley have had some news

0:30:37 > 0:30:39that they couldn't prepare for.

0:30:39 > 0:30:41It's very likely to...

0:30:41 > 0:30:44The midwives have discovered a serious problem with Catherine's

0:30:44 > 0:30:48liver, called cholestasis, that could harm the baby in the womb.

0:30:48 > 0:30:52I wonder why you've got something wrong with your liver.

0:30:52 > 0:30:55Liver's normally associated with, like, alcohol abuse, isn't it?

0:30:55 > 0:30:59- I know it's not, but... - Something that I've developed.

0:31:01 > 0:31:03Are you all right? Come here.

0:31:04 > 0:31:07You're upsetting the baby.

0:31:10 > 0:31:13It means Catherine must be induced to get the baby out.

0:31:16 > 0:31:19I don't like it when she's upset and that so...

0:31:19 > 0:31:24It upsets me but it'll be fine, won't it,

0:31:24 > 0:31:28as long as, as long as baby's all right, that's the main thing.

0:31:39 > 0:31:43But there is another problem, the baby is in a position which

0:31:43 > 0:31:45will make it difficult for a normal birth.

0:31:45 > 0:31:47And after his lesson on baby positions,

0:31:47 > 0:31:50Ashley knows exactly what this means.

0:31:50 > 0:31:53The baby's in a breach position which means his head's up here

0:31:53 > 0:31:57and his bum's down here. So he's in the wrong position.

0:31:57 > 0:31:59So it's looking like a caesarean,

0:31:59 > 0:32:02which is something we both didn't want.

0:32:02 > 0:32:05If the baby doesn't turn around,

0:32:05 > 0:32:07Catherine will have a caesarean section.

0:32:07 > 0:32:10Come here, you could come back next week, Cat,

0:32:10 > 0:32:12and he could be turned round.

0:32:12 > 0:32:16It's a massive blow to Ashley's and Catherine's birth plans.

0:32:23 > 0:32:27Can I have the Maharajah Special, please, for one person.

0:32:27 > 0:32:29And can I have a Lamb Rogan Josh.

0:32:32 > 0:32:34First I've got to be induced,

0:32:34 > 0:32:37then it's turned into an emergency C-section and he's going to be

0:32:37 > 0:32:40early so he's probably going to have to stay in hospital.

0:32:40 > 0:32:43It's just like everything I didn't want seems to be happening.

0:32:43 > 0:32:46Ashley won't know until the day what sort of birth it will be

0:32:46 > 0:32:49and exactly how hands-on he can get.

0:32:49 > 0:32:52But one job he knows he needs to do right now

0:32:52 > 0:32:54is try and keep Catherine's spirits up.

0:32:54 > 0:32:57Are you not happy in a way that it's going to be here early?

0:32:57 > 0:33:01- No, what's there to be happy about? - That it's going to be safe?

0:33:01 > 0:33:03If you look as it an a whole,

0:33:03 > 0:33:06the pluses outweigh the minuses, easily.

0:33:06 > 0:33:08It's all right for you to say that

0:33:08 > 0:33:10because you don't have to go through any of the pain.

0:33:10 > 0:33:13I know I don't. I've already said that, I know.

0:33:17 > 0:33:19It's going to be worth it in the long run though.

0:33:19 > 0:33:22It's just like having a tattoo or something though,

0:33:22 > 0:33:24no pain, no gain, it's like that really.

0:33:24 > 0:33:26We're going to have a lovely baby.

0:33:26 > 0:33:28Oh, shut up, man. Stop nagging. I've had enough.

0:33:30 > 0:33:34We're going to be fine, man. You're strong as hell.

0:33:34 > 0:33:37If anybody can do this, you can do it. And I know you can.

0:33:42 > 0:33:45With his baby on the way in the next few days,

0:33:45 > 0:33:49Ashley needs some urgent help with last minute preparations.

0:33:49 > 0:33:52Fellow dad Don is stepping into the breach.

0:33:54 > 0:33:57- Hi, mate.- Hiya.- How're you doing? - How are you, man?

0:33:57 > 0:34:01- Yeah, good, yeah. You? - Yeah.- How's things?

0:34:01 > 0:34:05- Yeah, all right. How are you? - Oh, not too good, to be honest.

0:34:05 > 0:34:07Err, we found out the baby was in the breach position.

0:34:07 > 0:34:09Oh, yeah, yeah, OK.

0:34:09 > 0:34:12And she's got some sort of abnormality affecting her liver,

0:34:12 > 0:34:15so we need to get the baby out, apparently, now as soon as we can.

0:34:15 > 0:34:17Yeah, yeah. When are they looking to induce?

0:34:17 > 0:34:20Well, they can only induce her if they can turn the baby round,

0:34:20 > 0:34:22but if not then we're going to have to have a C-section.

0:34:22 > 0:34:24Yeah, yeah. Tough. How you holding up though?

0:34:24 > 0:34:27Yeah, not bad, yeah. It's nice to see you, actually.

0:34:27 > 0:34:29Yeah, definitely, definitely.

0:34:29 > 0:34:32You going to help me come and do a bit of shopping, like?

0:34:32 > 0:34:33What do you need to get?

0:34:33 > 0:34:35Cat wrote a list out

0:34:35 > 0:34:37and I don't have a clue what some of these things are.

0:34:37 > 0:34:41Well, maternity pads, you don't know what maternity pads are?

0:34:41 > 0:34:43- After birth, the woman's going to be...- Bleeding?

0:34:43 > 0:34:47- Yeah, or leaking. - Ah, OK. I've got some boob pads.

0:34:47 > 0:34:51Yeah, yeah. That's for leaky boobs, this is for leaky...down there.

0:34:51 > 0:34:54- Downstairs.- Downstairs, yeah.

0:34:56 > 0:34:58Nappy wipes. Muslin squares.

0:34:58 > 0:35:01It's just a piece of fabric, literally is a piece of fabric

0:35:01 > 0:35:03and you put it here and if you burp the baby

0:35:03 > 0:35:06and say the baby throws up, if it throws up it's only going to be...

0:35:06 > 0:35:09- Catches all the...?- Yeah, yeah. - Can't you just use a tea towel?

0:35:09 > 0:35:11DON LAUGHS

0:35:11 > 0:35:12You know your stuff.

0:35:12 > 0:35:16- I did a lot of research and, er... - Thank God you're here.

0:35:16 > 0:35:19Thing is, if I didn't do my research, Georgia would be...

0:35:19 > 0:35:22unbearably angry with me. So I might as well do it.

0:35:22 > 0:35:25That's probably the reason Cat's angry with me.

0:35:25 > 0:35:26THEY LAUGH

0:35:32 > 0:35:34- What's on the list? - Electric breast pump.

0:35:34 > 0:35:36What kind of breast pump does she want?

0:35:36 > 0:35:37I'll go with the price, me.

0:35:40 > 0:35:43It were nice to have a cup of tea earlier on and just talk

0:35:43 > 0:35:46to him about everything and put some of my problems on him.

0:35:46 > 0:35:49I can imagine he's going through a pretty hard time at the moment.

0:35:49 > 0:35:51And I think this is hopefully one less thing, you know,

0:35:51 > 0:35:53he has to worry about.

0:35:53 > 0:35:55- What's next on the list? - Nappy wipes.

0:35:55 > 0:35:58It's just picking me up a bit and making me a bit happier.

0:35:58 > 0:36:02Cotton wool balls, lots of.

0:36:02 > 0:36:05You got everything on your list. Can't go wrong.

0:36:11 > 0:36:13Still rocked by the shock of the complications,

0:36:13 > 0:36:17Ashley's fears about the birth are getting the better of him.

0:36:17 > 0:36:20Judith makes a home visit to get him back on track.

0:36:20 > 0:36:23So if we go down that induction route, you might still be able

0:36:23 > 0:36:26to do all those things, if you want to do them.

0:36:27 > 0:36:30Yeah, I do want to do most of them things. Yeah, definitely.

0:36:30 > 0:36:32Don't be frightened to put into place

0:36:32 > 0:36:34some of the things that you learn.

0:36:34 > 0:36:37It's all down to whether the...whether they can

0:36:37 > 0:36:39- turn the baby round, really. - It is, yeah.

0:36:39 > 0:36:41On what I do and what I don't do. But either way, if I can't

0:36:41 > 0:36:44turn the baby round, I'll still have a big part to play, won't I?

0:36:44 > 0:36:47Yeah, you've got...if it's a caesarean section,

0:36:47 > 0:36:49- it's that emotional support, isn't it?- Yeah.

0:36:49 > 0:36:52And that support's immediately following delivery.

0:36:52 > 0:36:57He's obviously...anxious and a bit worried.

0:36:57 > 0:37:01But if he goes into this with a little bit less fear,

0:37:01 > 0:37:04a little bit less apprehension and a little bit more certainty,

0:37:04 > 0:37:07then haven't we achieved something?

0:37:09 > 0:37:13Our last day as two, and tomorrow we're going to be three.

0:37:13 > 0:37:17There are less than 24 hours to go to the birth.

0:37:17 > 0:37:22I hope he turns round a bit. Or else I'm not bringing him to the beach.

0:37:23 > 0:37:26And it looks like Judith's pep talk has paid off.

0:37:26 > 0:37:28I'm ready. I'm ready to rock.

0:37:28 > 0:37:32Just before I go on stage, I sort of, like, warm up, ready to perform.

0:37:32 > 0:37:36And that's how I am now. I'm just relaxed and so chilled out.

0:37:36 > 0:37:39From tomorrow there's always going to be someone calling you dad.

0:37:39 > 0:37:42Like, for the rest of your like now you're going to be someone's dad.

0:37:42 > 0:37:44- I know.- How strange is that?

0:37:44 > 0:37:46You're not going to be a dad though, are you?

0:37:46 > 0:37:48Obviously not.

0:37:48 > 0:37:51It is a big thing someone to be learning and taking it all in

0:37:51 > 0:37:54and it's quite a big responsibility, really.

0:37:54 > 0:37:56I just hope he's not going to be panicked,

0:37:56 > 0:38:01he's going to be there more for me, to keep me calm and keep me relaxed.

0:38:01 > 0:38:04Yeah, I've just got to stay calm tomorrow and be there for her,

0:38:04 > 0:38:06and I will be.

0:38:06 > 0:38:08She's relying on me big style tomorrow.

0:38:10 > 0:38:14Right, babe, so, I'm going to test you for tomorrow.

0:38:14 > 0:38:18How many centimetres am I before I actually have the baby?

0:38:18 > 0:38:21- Ten.- Yeah, can you remember how to change...?

0:38:21 > 0:38:24You'll be fine, man. It's all covered, it's all up here.

0:38:24 > 0:38:26As Ashley shows off his new knowledge,

0:38:26 > 0:38:31in London, Don's in action.

0:38:31 > 0:38:34Georgia's waters have broken and she having contractions.

0:38:36 > 0:38:38Oh, sorry.

0:38:38 > 0:38:40Are they mild, very mild, medium?

0:38:40 > 0:38:41- Mild.- Mild.

0:38:41 > 0:38:44Putting his everything he's learnt into practice,

0:38:44 > 0:38:47computer geek Don is timing them with a special app.

0:38:47 > 0:38:51The average of your last three contractions,

0:38:51 > 0:38:53came about every five minutes 31 seconds,

0:38:53 > 0:38:56and lasted for about 39 seconds. OK.

0:38:56 > 0:39:00I'm looking for a strong contraction every two to three minutes

0:39:00 > 0:39:02that lasts about a minute.

0:39:02 > 0:39:04How are you contracting?

0:39:04 > 0:39:06About every five to six minutes.

0:39:06 > 0:39:07Are they good, or...?

0:39:07 > 0:39:09They're...they're painful enough,

0:39:09 > 0:39:12so I'm thinking that you should probably wake up soon.

0:39:12 > 0:39:16Through the night, contractions become stronger and longer.

0:39:16 > 0:39:21Do you think we should call the...labour ward yet?

0:39:21 > 0:39:23Nah, do you want to sit on the ball?

0:39:32 > 0:39:35- Oh, oh.- No.- I was getting some rest.

0:39:35 > 0:39:37You actually had some sleep.

0:39:39 > 0:39:41It's not fair if you rub it in by snoring.

0:39:41 > 0:39:44- Did I start snoring?- Yeah.

0:39:45 > 0:39:49By 8am, Don decides the time is right to head into hospital.

0:39:49 > 0:39:51You all right?

0:39:52 > 0:39:53Oops.

0:39:55 > 0:39:58They're lasting a minute and a bit for about every four minutes, maybe.

0:39:58 > 0:40:01OK. There was a period when it was, like, two and a half minutes,

0:40:01 > 0:40:03there'd be one for, like, 40 seconds or so.

0:40:03 > 0:40:05- So they're a bit irregular at the moment?- Yeah.

0:40:05 > 0:40:07We would call that incoordinate as well,

0:40:07 > 0:40:09but that's a good thing that you're having them,

0:40:09 > 0:40:11so your body's trying to do it itself, anyway.

0:40:11 > 0:40:14- Do you want me to lift you up or...? - Yeah, maybe. OK.

0:40:14 > 0:40:17- That's not working. - That's it. How's that?

0:40:17 > 0:40:21Don did very well at home, actually, I'm actually quite impressed.

0:40:21 > 0:40:24He knew what to do, they've come in at the right time

0:40:24 > 0:40:26but there's still a lot of things that he can do.

0:40:26 > 0:40:29This is where the hard work starts from.

0:40:30 > 0:40:34In the last few weeks, big kid Don has had to grow up fast.

0:40:34 > 0:40:39Get to grips with his clumsiness and man-up for fatherhood.

0:40:39 > 0:40:41Bring your arms up, right over your head.

0:40:41 > 0:40:43The midwives have taught him

0:40:43 > 0:40:45everything he needs to help Georgia give birth.

0:40:47 > 0:40:49Have a feel. You tell me where you feel it is.

0:40:49 > 0:40:51It's a bum definitely here.

0:40:51 > 0:40:54Now it's up to Don to put it all into practice.

0:40:54 > 0:40:55You're correct.

0:40:59 > 0:41:02This one here checks for the heart rate

0:41:02 > 0:41:05and this one here is to check for the contractions.

0:41:05 > 0:41:08You're quite right.

0:41:08 > 0:41:11Any other pain relief, gas and air, I'm going to happily take it.

0:41:11 > 0:41:14So that I know how to use it for when I really need it.

0:41:14 > 0:41:16OK, if that's what you think.

0:41:16 > 0:41:19Cos there, there is a technique to it, isn't there?

0:41:19 > 0:41:20You suck it.

0:41:20 > 0:41:22I've also heard that it makes some people feel sick.

0:41:22 > 0:41:25Yeah, exactly, it does make some people a bit...

0:41:25 > 0:41:28- Is there one for the dad as well? - No.- I need the gas.

0:41:32 > 0:41:34Tell her she'll be fine, Judith, won't she?

0:41:34 > 0:41:37- She's going to be absolutely gorgeous.- You'll be fine.

0:41:37 > 0:41:40Today is the final test for joker Ashley after his crash course

0:41:40 > 0:41:43in pregnancy, labour and birth.

0:41:43 > 0:41:46Want a magazine? Take your mind off things, no?

0:41:46 > 0:41:50Can he get over fears, overcome his squeamishness,

0:41:50 > 0:41:53and take his role as a super dad seriously?

0:41:53 > 0:41:55Have we got a bit of a tissue?

0:41:55 > 0:41:57Yeah, let's get some tissue, honey.

0:41:57 > 0:42:00First, the crucial attempt to move the baby.

0:42:00 > 0:42:02He's just going to try and move the baby round.

0:42:02 > 0:42:05Then if he manages to do that, we can induce Catherine

0:42:05 > 0:42:09and she can have a normal birth. There's a lot riding on this.

0:42:09 > 0:42:13With his knowledge of foetal positioning in the womb, Ashley

0:42:13 > 0:42:17can assist with keeping Catherine calm during the tricky procedure.

0:42:17 > 0:42:20Nice big breaths. This is where you'd tell Catherine to breathe.

0:42:20 > 0:42:22Yeah, nice big breaths.

0:42:26 > 0:42:28Well done. Deep breaths.

0:42:36 > 0:42:38- It's just not moving. - Not going anywhere.

0:42:38 > 0:42:41- Not moving, it's there. - Yeah.- So to try and bring it,

0:42:41 > 0:42:45cos once you try one side, you should try the other side. But it's too far.

0:42:45 > 0:42:51- It's not. - It's just too far. I think I'll go.

0:42:51 > 0:42:55Her stomach muscles are that tight, he struggled to do it.

0:42:55 > 0:42:59He actually managed to pop the baby out the pelvis, so he got that far

0:42:59 > 0:43:02but he couldn't...he couldn't really turn him any further.

0:43:02 > 0:43:05So that's it. We're going to have a C-section now.

0:43:05 > 0:43:07A couple of minutes.

0:43:07 > 0:43:09Cat. It'll be fine.

0:43:12 > 0:43:17Cat, it'll be fine. It's a tiny little operation.

0:43:17 > 0:43:19He had a good understanding this morning of what was going on,

0:43:19 > 0:43:21what's happening.

0:43:21 > 0:43:24Maybe, I don't think he truly understands Catherine's

0:43:24 > 0:43:26disappointment, emotionally.

0:43:26 > 0:43:28I think I'd have liked to have seen him

0:43:28 > 0:43:31support her a little bit more.

0:43:31 > 0:43:35But then, that could be his anxiety as well.

0:43:35 > 0:43:37You need to be strong from now on, OK?

0:43:37 > 0:43:41Are you going to make me a promise?

0:43:41 > 0:43:44Stop crying now, be strong. This is your time to shine.

0:43:44 > 0:43:49I love you. Love you, OK?

0:43:49 > 0:43:51I'm here with you.

0:43:56 > 0:43:59On your chest, and push the back out toward me.

0:43:59 > 0:44:02Catherine's liver condition, plus the fact the doctors can't

0:44:02 > 0:44:06turn the baby, means it will need to be a caesarean section.

0:44:07 > 0:44:12It's time for anxious Ashley to put all his hard work into action.

0:44:12 > 0:44:14Over the last eight weeks,

0:44:14 > 0:44:17Judith's tried to get him to take pregnancy seriously.

0:44:17 > 0:44:18Bigger circles.

0:44:18 > 0:44:21Made him confront his fears of blood and birth.

0:44:21 > 0:44:22Oh, my God.

0:44:22 > 0:44:25And take on his terror of dropping the baby.

0:44:25 > 0:44:28All so that he can be the perfect birthing partner

0:44:28 > 0:44:30and support Catherine.

0:44:33 > 0:44:36While Judith comforts Catherine, Ashley must put his own

0:44:36 > 0:44:40emotions aside and join them in theatre.

0:44:40 > 0:44:43It's helping me get through it all, all the stuff I've learnt over

0:44:43 > 0:44:47the last few months but, in a way, sometimes it can be worse cos

0:44:47 > 0:44:50you know what's happening every step of the way.

0:44:50 > 0:44:55So I know what could go wrong, what could go right, so...

0:44:55 > 0:44:57HE SNIFFS

0:45:00 > 0:45:03Trying to keep it together but it's really hard.

0:45:03 > 0:45:06It's the hardest thing I've ever done, this.

0:45:13 > 0:45:17Feeling all these emotions now but I know when I go into that room

0:45:17 > 0:45:21I've got to turn it all off and be strong.

0:45:21 > 0:45:24So...difficult, innit?

0:45:24 > 0:45:28I think you know what's going on down there now as well, don't we?

0:45:33 > 0:45:37Ashley's made it to Catherine's side, can he stick with it

0:45:37 > 0:45:40for the whole operation and hold the baby when it's born?

0:45:44 > 0:45:47In London, after eight hours of labour,

0:45:47 > 0:45:50Georgia has been given an epidural - a painkiller that's injected

0:45:50 > 0:45:53directly into the nerves in her back.

0:45:53 > 0:45:57Don can now help manage the tops-up of pain relief under supervision.

0:45:57 > 0:46:00- Press every 25 minutes or half an hour.- Cool.

0:46:00 > 0:46:02As Georgia needs it in terms of her pain.

0:46:02 > 0:46:05Make sure you press it when we're in the room.

0:46:05 > 0:46:07- Cool, so pressing.- Yeah.

0:46:07 > 0:46:11It is... Oh, I can feel it cool down my back.

0:46:11 > 0:46:12Really?

0:46:12 > 0:46:14Georgia's now definitely bound to her bed.

0:46:14 > 0:46:17She can't really walk about or move so I think, I think my role now

0:46:17 > 0:46:19is literally her arms and legs kind of thing.

0:46:19 > 0:46:21If she wants anything, I'm going to have to go get it

0:46:21 > 0:46:23and run for it and stuff like that.

0:46:23 > 0:46:25There's still a lot of other things now I have to do.

0:46:25 > 0:46:28Sit there and look at the monitor and if anything changes

0:46:28 > 0:46:31before the midwives come, maybe I can just grab them.

0:46:31 > 0:46:34Don's weeks of studying are paying off.

0:46:34 > 0:46:36- Ready? Yeah?- Yeah.

0:46:36 > 0:46:38Under the watchful eye of the midwives,

0:46:38 > 0:46:44there's plenty of monitoring to do. Gadget geek Don in his element.

0:46:44 > 0:46:49So this is, er, her temperature. That in?

0:46:49 > 0:46:51It's 37.3.

0:46:51 > 0:46:52All right, that's good.

0:46:52 > 0:46:55He's making sure the epidural's working well.

0:46:55 > 0:46:57He's very anal about time, actually.

0:46:57 > 0:47:00He's making sure he's topping her up on the half-hour,

0:47:00 > 0:47:03making sure the blood pressure is done exactly five minutes.

0:47:03 > 0:47:05One, two, three, four.

0:47:05 > 0:47:08He has taken everything seriously.

0:47:08 > 0:47:11He remembered everything that we've taught him so far.

0:47:11 > 0:47:13- Good.- You all right? - Blood pressure, my darling.

0:47:13 > 0:47:16Oh, yes, sure, no contraction or anything?

0:47:16 > 0:47:20- So we've a bit of a role, extra role going on there.- Oh, yeah.

0:47:20 > 0:47:23- That's good. - He's in charge of the top-ups.

0:47:23 > 0:47:26- That's brilliant.- He's in charge of the blood pressures.

0:47:26 > 0:47:28Is he the water top-up person?

0:47:28 > 0:47:31- No, I'm the, er, the, the... - Epidural.- Epidural top-up person.

0:47:31 > 0:47:34Don's impressed the midwives, but can he step up to

0:47:34 > 0:47:37the more practical role he wants during delivery?

0:47:41 > 0:47:44I think we'll have to get married soon.

0:47:44 > 0:47:47In theatre, Ashley's doing his best to keep Catherine calm.

0:47:56 > 0:47:57And once the baby's born,

0:47:57 > 0:48:00he will need to get over his fear of handling his son.

0:48:26 > 0:48:28Well done.

0:48:28 > 0:48:29Oh, I've seen him.

0:48:29 > 0:48:31BABY CRIES

0:48:31 > 0:48:32Oh, he's gorgeous.

0:48:34 > 0:48:35He's here, Cat.

0:48:35 > 0:48:37- He's here.- He's here.

0:48:37 > 0:48:39Do you want to pass him over?

0:48:39 > 0:48:42- Am I all right passing him over? - Yeah, I've got him with you.

0:48:42 > 0:48:46Come on. Oh, you've got your mummy here. Right.

0:48:46 > 0:48:49- Put him down. - Putting him down. Gorgeous!

0:48:49 > 0:48:52Should we get a warm towel? Yeah?

0:48:52 > 0:48:54Ah, little lad.

0:48:54 > 0:48:55Put your arms in.

0:48:55 > 0:48:57Little lad.

0:48:57 > 0:48:59Keep him nice and warm.

0:49:01 > 0:49:05Little boy. Oh, Daddy's here. I'm here.

0:49:08 > 0:49:12I'm here for ya, yeah? Look like me, don't ya?

0:49:12 > 0:49:15- Where do I cut?- Just there.

0:49:15 > 0:49:18There? I'm not going to hurt him, am I?

0:49:18 > 0:49:21- No.- There? Am I all right? - That's fine.

0:49:21 > 0:49:23BABY CRIES

0:49:23 > 0:49:25- Is that all right? - Yeah, it's fine.

0:49:25 > 0:49:29Oh. You're a whinger like your mum.

0:49:29 > 0:49:32Gorgeous. Congratulations, yeah?

0:49:40 > 0:49:44Come on. Come on. I've got you.

0:49:44 > 0:49:46I love you.

0:49:46 > 0:49:48There's our baby.

0:49:48 > 0:49:53Ohh. You bugger.

0:49:55 > 0:49:58I grabbed him and brought him to Cat, the baby.

0:49:58 > 0:50:02I held him straight away, I cut the cord down there.

0:50:02 > 0:50:05I did the best I could, so...

0:50:05 > 0:50:07I'm just grateful to all these people in here

0:50:07 > 0:50:11for everything they've done.

0:50:11 > 0:50:13Are you going to keep us up all night?

0:50:18 > 0:50:20Holding him for that first time was just amazing.

0:50:20 > 0:50:24Just, like, my real, my own son in my arms, my own flesh and blood.

0:50:24 > 0:50:26I'm never going to stop caring about him now,

0:50:26 > 0:50:29for the rest of his life.

0:50:29 > 0:50:32Ashley was a little bit of a joker.

0:50:32 > 0:50:34I don't think he really took on board

0:50:34 > 0:50:36the responsibility of his role.

0:50:36 > 0:50:40Today, I think he's come into his own, he's done really well.

0:50:40 > 0:50:46Catherine and her new son are both doing well, Ashley is now a dad.

0:50:46 > 0:50:47OK, brilliant.

0:50:47 > 0:50:49Don still has it all to do.

0:50:49 > 0:50:52Georgia's in the final stages of labour.

0:50:52 > 0:50:55I think it's probably time I change out of this white t-shirt.

0:50:55 > 0:50:56HE GIGGLES

0:50:56 > 0:50:59Maybe into a black t-shirt, just in case there's a bit of fluid about.

0:50:59 > 0:51:03He's mentally prepared, he's been really involved throughout

0:51:03 > 0:51:06the day, he looks like he's going to be fine.

0:51:06 > 0:51:08We'll see what happens next.

0:51:09 > 0:51:12- Don, I want you to wash your hands. - Yes, OK. Wash up to my elbows or...?

0:51:12 > 0:51:15You can go up, but you're not scrubbing for theatre,

0:51:15 > 0:51:18we just need to know that you're clean.

0:51:18 > 0:51:20There's a lot of reasons I wanted to do this,

0:51:20 > 0:51:23learn more about the pregnancy thing, knowledge is a good thing,

0:51:23 > 0:51:27but I think one of the other things was, I wanted to be one of the first

0:51:27 > 0:51:32people to touch my little baby, get some hands-on experience I guess.

0:51:32 > 0:51:36Everything you've got, Georgia. Really hard, really hard.

0:51:36 > 0:51:39For Don, the weeks of intensive learning have come down to today.

0:51:39 > 0:51:42If you need me up that end, please tell me though.

0:51:42 > 0:51:47- I will do but I'm OK at the moment. - You're doing very good, baby girl.

0:51:47 > 0:51:48It's really good.

0:51:48 > 0:51:50Push really hard. Harder. Keep it going.

0:51:50 > 0:51:53OK, brilliant. Keep it going. That's the one.

0:51:53 > 0:51:56That's it. Keep on going. Nice long one. Go on, Georgia.

0:51:56 > 0:51:59That's the one. Don't be afraid. Go on, push forward.

0:51:59 > 0:52:02Keep on going, baby girl. Keep on going, baby girl. There we go.

0:52:02 > 0:52:05Keep on going, keep on going. Keep on going, Georgia.

0:52:05 > 0:52:07Keep on going, keep on going.

0:52:07 > 0:52:10- I want to get you round, Don, with me.- OK, should I...?

0:52:10 > 0:52:12So if you come here, Don. OK. That's it.

0:52:14 > 0:52:16- OK, give me your hands, Don. - Yeah, both of them?

0:52:16 > 0:52:18- Yeah, just come down here with me. - Yeah.

0:52:18 > 0:52:21- Feel the baby's head here.- Oh, yeah.

0:52:21 > 0:52:22A little push, darling.

0:52:25 > 0:52:28- Right, if you look here, there's your baby's head.- Oh, yeah!

0:52:28 > 0:52:32- The baby's head is born, darling. OK, Don.- Yeah.

0:52:32 > 0:52:34Get your hands here and here with me,

0:52:34 > 0:52:36we're going to wait for the baby to restitute.

0:52:36 > 0:52:37Remember what that was?

0:52:37 > 0:52:39It turns around so the shoulders can go through.

0:52:39 > 0:52:42That's right, that's right. So just put your hands on mine here.

0:52:42 > 0:52:46- OK, I'll put it in yours. - OK, keep pushing.

0:52:46 > 0:52:48Give me another push. There we go, Don, take your baby.

0:52:48 > 0:52:50BABY CRIES

0:52:50 > 0:52:53There she is!

0:52:53 > 0:52:54HE LAUGHS HAPPILY

0:52:56 > 0:52:59It's our little baby girl.

0:53:04 > 0:53:06Oh, my God!

0:53:08 > 0:53:12Cut up to the blue there. Really hard. That's it.

0:53:12 > 0:53:15Well done, Don. Well done, Don.

0:53:15 > 0:53:19Thank you so much, that was so cool, that was so cool.

0:53:19 > 0:53:20Congratulations.

0:53:24 > 0:53:28Oh, look at her! That's our little baby girl.

0:53:28 > 0:53:31- Who's that?- I know.

0:53:34 > 0:53:37He done brilliant, absolutely brilliant.

0:53:37 > 0:53:40I stepped back a couple of times and just let him

0:53:40 > 0:53:43give her instruction about pushing and stuff and he came into his own.

0:53:43 > 0:53:47I can't say enough, I'm really impressed with him, to be honest.

0:53:47 > 0:53:50He's been the most hands-on dad we've had in the delivery room.

0:53:50 > 0:53:55I was glad that, you know, he learnt so much because I didn't have to

0:53:55 > 0:53:59worry about anything and that kind of continued all the way through.

0:53:59 > 0:54:03I'm really proud of Don. Really lucky as well.

0:54:03 > 0:54:08Both Don and Ashley have overcome huge challenges to become

0:54:08 > 0:54:12perfect birthing partners and the hands-on dads they wanted to be.

0:54:12 > 0:54:14I definitely didn't feel like a muppet dad,

0:54:14 > 0:54:16I'll tell you that for a fact.

0:54:16 > 0:54:18It's been an amazing experience, actually.

0:54:18 > 0:54:22All dads should definitely do it. Give it a try, I think. Oh!

0:54:22 > 0:54:26I think it might be a story to tell her friends. My daddy delivered me.

0:54:28 > 0:54:31Now I'm a big kid with an even littler kid.

0:54:34 > 0:54:38I've always been a joker, I've always been a bit of a jack-the-lad,

0:54:38 > 0:54:42but now I've proven to people that I can be serious when needed.

0:54:42 > 0:54:45I probably wouldn't have the confidence to do it really

0:54:45 > 0:54:47if I hadn't have done all the training I've done.

0:54:47 > 0:54:51I think with this process, I've changed from a boy to a man.

0:54:51 > 0:54:55Even though I still look like a boy with my baby face, but, er...

0:54:55 > 0:54:59I think I've definitely...definitely become a man.

0:55:03 > 0:55:06Four weeks after the birth of son Beau,

0:55:06 > 0:55:09Ashley's relishing his new role as a father.

0:55:10 > 0:55:14I think you have to sort of like, be a dad to explain what it feels like

0:55:14 > 0:55:17cos it's just, it's a great feeling, it's just amazing.

0:55:17 > 0:55:20It's just like a brand new book with pages that haven't been written.

0:55:20 > 0:55:23I think there's a song, like, "The best things in life are free."

0:55:23 > 0:55:26And it's true. It's just, like, you can make something

0:55:26 > 0:55:28so beautiful like that out of nothing.

0:55:28 > 0:55:32It's unbelievable, it's, like, just great, it's a great feeling.

0:55:32 > 0:55:34I think if Ashley hadn't have had the training,

0:55:34 > 0:55:35I think he would have panicked a lot.

0:55:35 > 0:55:39But I think because he's had this, he kind of knew what was going on,

0:55:39 > 0:55:41which kept him calm, which kept me calm.

0:55:41 > 0:55:45And Don and Georgia are both still reaping the benefits

0:55:45 > 0:55:49of the one-to-one sessions with the midwives.

0:55:49 > 0:55:52I never imagined that what he'd learn would actually benefit me

0:55:52 > 0:55:54as much as it did.

0:55:54 > 0:55:55That's not the poopy face, is it?

0:55:55 > 0:55:58You know, he really came from nothing

0:55:58 > 0:56:00and not being able to do anything to being able to do

0:56:00 > 0:56:03everything for me, so yeah, it's been fantastic.

0:56:03 > 0:56:05It's the whole knowledge thing. The more you know,

0:56:05 > 0:56:08the more you're comfortable with.

0:56:08 > 0:56:10The confidence in knowing you can do it, you know,

0:56:10 > 0:56:12sort of, it's just, it's the first step.

0:56:12 > 0:56:15That's the first step, the baby needs to be born,

0:56:15 > 0:56:16if I can handle that bit,
