0:00:02 > 0:00:04Moving your family halfway around

0:00:04 > 0:00:08the world is a massive challenge at the best of times,

0:00:08 > 0:00:11but it's even tougher when you've never visited the country you hope

0:00:11 > 0:00:16to call home and some of your family don't want to go.

0:00:16 > 0:00:19That's the scenario the Pedley-McKnight family

0:00:19 > 0:00:22were struggling with in 2015.

0:00:22 > 0:00:25Today, we'll find out where they're living 12 months on.

0:00:27 > 0:00:31Danyel Pedley-McKnight was desperate to uproot her family to Australia.

0:00:31 > 0:00:33It is my dream come true.

0:00:33 > 0:00:35This is what I wanted for them.

0:00:35 > 0:00:38But her husband and oldest daughters found the thought of leaving loved

0:00:38 > 0:00:40ones in the UK too much to bear.

0:00:40 > 0:00:44It'll just be us over there - no-one else that we knew.

0:00:44 > 0:00:47A week down under revealed what life could be like.

0:00:47 > 0:00:49So what do you think of this?

0:00:49 > 0:00:51SQUEALING

0:00:51 > 0:00:53So, one-year on,

0:00:53 > 0:00:56are the family living in the UK or on other side of the world?

0:00:56 > 0:00:58He wouldn't say yes or no -

0:00:58 > 0:01:00it was just a definite maybe.

0:01:23 > 0:01:26Straddling the Pacific and Indian oceans,

0:01:26 > 0:01:29Australia's the smallest continent on earth.

0:01:29 > 0:01:31Home to just over 23 million people,

0:01:31 > 0:01:35its population continues to rise at one of the fastest rates in the

0:01:35 > 0:01:37developed world.

0:01:37 > 0:01:41With over 10,000 beaches and a sun-soaked climate,

0:01:41 > 0:01:44it's no surprise the country's the number one destination for British

0:01:44 > 0:01:46families moving abroad.

0:01:48 > 0:01:52Danyel Pedley-McKnight passionately believed Australia was the place to

0:01:52 > 0:01:55give her daughters the healthy

0:01:55 > 0:01:57outdoor lifestyle she craved for them.

0:01:57 > 0:02:00But with the girls disinterested,

0:02:00 > 0:02:03her husband worried about leaving their life in the UK,

0:02:03 > 0:02:07and a failed visa attempt already behind her,

0:02:07 > 0:02:11she faced an uphill struggle if she was going to make it happen.

0:02:11 > 0:02:16Desperate, she knew a week trialling the country she longed to call home

0:02:16 > 0:02:21would be her one and only chance of making her dream come true.

0:02:22 > 0:02:24To reach Perth in Australia,

0:02:24 > 0:02:27the family spent almost 18 hours in the sky,

0:02:27 > 0:02:29flying from London via Dubai.

0:02:31 > 0:02:34It was harder than I expected, to be fair.

0:02:34 > 0:02:36I am genuinely exhausted.

0:02:36 > 0:02:40Danyel was excited to have made it down under for the first time.

0:02:40 > 0:02:43Now I'm here, and I'm looking at the sun, I've forgotten all that now.

0:02:43 > 0:02:46It's like labour - it's gone.

0:02:46 > 0:02:49While Guy worried about how far they'd come.

0:02:49 > 0:02:51That's something that's playing on my mind, to be honest.

0:02:51 > 0:02:54Lauren was tired and emotional.

0:02:54 > 0:02:57It is just how far away it is from everyone.

0:03:02 > 0:03:04I think I need a tissue.

0:03:05 > 0:03:07As the family headed into Perth,

0:03:07 > 0:03:10Danyel knew she could have a battle on her hands convincing Guy,

0:03:10 > 0:03:12Leeya and Lauren to follow her dream.

0:03:15 > 0:03:18The Pedley-McKnights lived in Bradford, West Yorkshire.

0:03:18 > 0:03:22They are dad, Guy, mum Danyel, Leeya, who was then 12,

0:03:22 > 0:03:24Lauren, who was ten,

0:03:24 > 0:03:25and Ashlee, who was seven.

0:03:26 > 0:03:29Right foot - green.

0:03:29 > 0:03:31Together for almost 20 years,

0:03:31 > 0:03:33Danyel and Guy were proof opposites attract.

0:03:33 > 0:03:35I'm very outgoing,

0:03:35 > 0:03:37I'm quite happy to take risks,

0:03:37 > 0:03:39so I'm quite impulsive and he's not.

0:03:39 > 0:03:42You're not overly fussed about trying anything new.

0:03:42 > 0:03:43A bit boring, really, aren't you?

0:03:43 > 0:03:45A bit boring, yeah. A bit boring.

0:03:48 > 0:03:50But Danyel's latest dream was

0:03:50 > 0:03:53threatening to shake Guy out of his comfort zone forever.

0:03:53 > 0:03:56Since attending an immigration seminar four years earlier,

0:03:56 > 0:04:00she'd been determined to move her family to Australia.

0:04:01 > 0:04:05I just came back absolutely buzzing with the idea that we need to move

0:04:05 > 0:04:07there because it's the best thing since sliced bread.

0:04:07 > 0:04:08Guy wasn't keen, but,

0:04:08 > 0:04:12convinced the country offered the girls a better life,

0:04:12 > 0:04:13Danyel pushed ahead and signed up

0:04:13 > 0:04:17with an immigration company to secure a visa.

0:04:17 > 0:04:20The day that I registered for that company, I were like, "Yeah, OK.

0:04:20 > 0:04:23"Within six months, we'll probably be in Australia."

0:04:23 > 0:04:26But six months and thousands of pounds later,

0:04:26 > 0:04:29the visa had failed to materialise.

0:04:29 > 0:04:32So we'd lost £2,600, I think it were.

0:04:32 > 0:04:34I was quite angry that we'd lost

0:04:34 > 0:04:37that money and the company could do that to you.

0:04:38 > 0:04:41It was a difficult time for the couple,

0:04:41 > 0:04:44but Danyel refused to give up and, three years later,

0:04:44 > 0:04:47she was more determined than ever to follow her heart.

0:04:48 > 0:04:51When we're out for the day, if it starts to rain,

0:04:51 > 0:04:52I will say things like,

0:04:52 > 0:04:55"Oh, if we were in Australia, it wouldn't be like this."

0:04:55 > 0:04:57Or when we're in the car and it's really sunny, I'll say,

0:04:57 > 0:05:00"If we were in Australia, it would be like this all the time."

0:05:00 > 0:05:01The more she talked,

0:05:01 > 0:05:05the more vivid Danyel's vision of life in Australia had become.

0:05:05 > 0:05:08The girls will have a few hours at school.

0:05:08 > 0:05:11I'll be at work, but not as many hours as I have to put in now.

0:05:11 > 0:05:13Guy will be doing his dream job.

0:05:13 > 0:05:15We'll come home and then go swimming in the back garden

0:05:15 > 0:05:18or what have you. We'll have this massive, grand house.

0:05:18 > 0:05:20We can afford to have family come and stay with us.

0:05:20 > 0:05:23So as unrealistic as it is, that's my dream.

0:05:23 > 0:05:25Come on, it's raining. Let's go.

0:05:25 > 0:05:27But having made a costly mistake before,

0:05:27 > 0:05:31Danyel knew convincing Guy to move would be a mammoth task.

0:05:31 > 0:05:34It's all our finances, jobs, a house.

0:05:34 > 0:05:37Can we afford it? Are we going to be stable?

0:05:37 > 0:05:39Guy was also wracked with guilt at

0:05:39 > 0:05:42the prospect of leaving his parents in the UK.

0:05:42 > 0:05:46If owt happens, it's not as though you can just jump on a bus

0:05:46 > 0:05:49and that's why I'm just torn, I really am.

0:05:51 > 0:05:55Leeya and Lauren shared Guy's concerns about leaving loved ones.

0:05:55 > 0:05:59I'm so close to my family and my cousins especially.

0:06:01 > 0:06:04Special days like birthdays or anything, or Christmas,

0:06:04 > 0:06:06it would just be us,

0:06:06 > 0:06:09and it wouldn't be like a family day

0:06:09 > 0:06:12because we won't have any family over there.

0:06:12 > 0:06:15The week ahead was Danyel's best chance to convince Guy and the girls

0:06:15 > 0:06:18Australia was where they belonged.

0:06:18 > 0:06:20We can't keep living our life in limbo.

0:06:20 > 0:06:22We've done it for the last four years.

0:06:22 > 0:06:24We need to make the decision.

0:06:24 > 0:06:26This week, in Australia,

0:06:26 > 0:06:31it's really important to us because it's going to depend on what we're

0:06:31 > 0:06:33going to do for our life and where we live.

0:06:38 > 0:06:40If we were to get over there

0:06:40 > 0:06:43and even if I thought it was absolutely everything I dream of,

0:06:43 > 0:06:48and if it ticks every single box, if my girls look at me and say,

0:06:48 > 0:06:50"Mummy, we can't go..."

0:06:55 > 0:06:57..then we won't go.

0:07:06 > 0:07:10To find out if Australia offered the lifestyle Danyel dreamt of,

0:07:10 > 0:07:12the family visited Perth.

0:07:12 > 0:07:14Home for the week was in Quinns Rock,

0:07:14 > 0:07:18a coastal suburb 25 miles north of the city.

0:07:18 > 0:07:19But did their first taste of

0:07:19 > 0:07:22Australian living meet Danyel's expectations?

0:07:22 > 0:07:24It looks like a Neighbours house, doesn't it?

0:07:24 > 0:07:26An Home And Away house.

0:07:26 > 0:07:28Danyel sounded pleased.

0:07:28 > 0:07:30- Let's go and have a look.- Cool! - Oh, my word!

0:07:31 > 0:07:33No complaints yet.

0:07:33 > 0:07:36- Wow!- Everyone was happy

0:07:36 > 0:07:38and discovering a pool in the garden

0:07:38 > 0:07:40put excitement levels through the roof.

0:07:40 > 0:07:42What's that, Ashlee?

0:07:44 > 0:07:46It's a pool!

0:07:46 > 0:07:50It was everything Danyel wanted and even Guy seemed impressed.

0:07:50 > 0:07:51It's thumbs up from me.

0:07:51 > 0:07:54I feel like a kid that's been given a Christmas present.

0:07:54 > 0:07:56I wanted my husband and my children

0:07:56 > 0:07:59to think it was just as great as I do and, so far, they have.

0:07:59 > 0:08:02But Guy wasn't committing to anything.

0:08:02 > 0:08:06It's the biggest decision we're going to make in our lifetime,

0:08:06 > 0:08:11so we've just got to weigh it up this week, see what happens.

0:08:11 > 0:08:13With so much riding on this trip,

0:08:13 > 0:08:16Danyel hoped the coming week would go to plan.

0:08:16 > 0:08:19Even though I've had this dream for forever,

0:08:19 > 0:08:23the girls and Guy haven't and I need to convince them.

0:08:23 > 0:08:26Well, I hope Australia convinces them and I won't need to.

0:08:33 > 0:08:36In the UK, home for the Pedley-McKnights

0:08:36 > 0:08:39was a five-bedroom house in Bradford,

0:08:39 > 0:08:41but Danyel had lost heart in it.

0:08:41 > 0:08:44We stopped decorating. We stopped doing everything we wanted to do

0:08:44 > 0:08:46because I think, "Well, I'm just going to leave it anyway."

0:08:46 > 0:08:48If Danyel got her way,

0:08:48 > 0:08:53the couple's budget for a house in Australia was around £250,000

0:08:53 > 0:08:56and she knew exactly what she wanted.

0:08:56 > 0:09:00I'd want the open plan kitchen-dining area, the pool,

0:09:00 > 0:09:03not too far from the beach but not too far from the schools.

0:09:03 > 0:09:05That would be great. But it needs to be new.

0:09:05 > 0:09:07It needs to be grand.

0:09:09 > 0:09:11To find out what kind of house they could have,

0:09:11 > 0:09:14we showed the family three properties -

0:09:14 > 0:09:17two on budget and a third which could be their dream home.

0:09:17 > 0:09:21Only after they'd seen each one did they find out its value.

0:09:24 > 0:09:27The search began in the well-established suburb of Clarkson.

0:09:27 > 0:09:30Offering schools, recreation and shopping facilities

0:09:30 > 0:09:32and only ten minutes' drive from the beach,

0:09:32 > 0:09:36it was the kind of area Danyel wanted but was the house up to spec?

0:09:37 > 0:09:39Wow! Double garage.

0:09:39 > 0:09:43- Oh, my God!- Guy was happy before they'd even parked up.

0:09:43 > 0:09:47- Wow!- But moving to the master bedroom, Guy quickly found a fault.

0:09:47 > 0:09:51I hate that fence. I just don't like it at all.

0:09:51 > 0:09:53A tin fence,

0:09:53 > 0:09:55- just doesn't look right to me. - Danyel skilfully shifted the girls'

0:09:55 > 0:09:58attention to the impressive walk-in wardrobe.

0:09:58 > 0:09:59- What's that, a walk-in wardrobe? - Yeah.

0:09:59 > 0:10:02- What do you think that? - Look at the size of that!

0:10:02 > 0:10:03Look at the size of that, eh!

0:10:03 > 0:10:05- You could live in there, Ashlee. - Yeah.

0:10:05 > 0:10:08- A walk-in wardrobe.- But Guy was outnumbered and the open plan

0:10:08 > 0:10:13- living-kitchen area was exactly what Danyel had been dreaming of.- Wow!

0:10:13 > 0:10:17- That looks nice.- It was a good start for Danyel and,

0:10:17 > 0:10:20with three other bedrooms, the girls would have their own space, too.

0:10:20 > 0:10:25But Guy had spotted another blot on the landscape outside.

0:10:25 > 0:10:27I don't like that brick wall there.

0:10:27 > 0:10:29- Why?- I just don't like it.

0:10:29 > 0:10:33Once again, Danyel sidestepped Guy's negativity.

0:10:33 > 0:10:35In ours, you can be overlooked from someone's upstairs.

0:10:35 > 0:10:38If this is high, you can't be overlooked in the garden.

0:10:38 > 0:10:41I think, even if the inside's nice, the outside's not.

0:10:42 > 0:10:46After a really positive start, Danyel could have hit a wall.

0:10:46 > 0:10:50But she was still keen to know what the house cost and whether their

0:10:50 > 0:10:53£250,000 budget would be enough to cover it.

0:10:55 > 0:10:57I realistically think it's 290.

0:10:57 > 0:10:59I think it's going to be 260.

0:10:59 > 0:11:02Seen some beauty houses. I think I'm going to say that it's on budget.

0:11:03 > 0:11:05Time to find out if Danyel was right.

0:11:10 > 0:11:13Oh, my God!

0:11:13 > 0:11:15I knew it, didn't I?

0:11:15 > 0:11:18- I knew it when I said it was on budget.- That is cheap.

0:11:18 > 0:11:21She may be a dreamer but Danyel was on the money.

0:11:21 > 0:11:24So that 5,000, we could buy a pool.

0:11:24 > 0:11:26I don't think you'd get a pool in there.

0:11:26 > 0:11:28You could get a small pool.

0:11:28 > 0:11:32House hunting was off to a great start for the Pedley-McKnights.

0:11:32 > 0:11:35Hopefully, the next home would be as promising.

0:11:35 > 0:11:39It was in Carramar, an area slightly closer to central Perth.

0:11:39 > 0:11:41Although further inland, it was

0:11:41 > 0:11:43still only 15 minutes from the beach

0:11:43 > 0:11:46and excellent amenities, including parks and shops,

0:11:46 > 0:11:49meant it should be perfect for the family.

0:11:49 > 0:11:52I like that it's a cul-de-sac road end.

0:11:52 > 0:11:54Guy's happy with the location but

0:11:54 > 0:11:56was the house somewhere the family could call home?

0:11:56 > 0:11:58Wow! It's big.

0:12:00 > 0:12:02- Good size.- Yeah.

0:12:02 > 0:12:04Master bedroom, isn't it?

0:12:04 > 0:12:06If you have a look in there...

0:12:06 > 0:12:09And another roomy wardrobe kept Lauren on side.

0:12:09 > 0:12:11Ever since mum started talking about it,

0:12:11 > 0:12:13I've always wanted a walk-in wardrobe, haven't I?

0:12:13 > 0:12:16Once again, the open plan living area was a winner.

0:12:16 > 0:12:18Oh, my God! Look at the size of this!

0:12:21 > 0:12:23When I walked in and saw that room, I thought that might have been it.

0:12:23 > 0:12:26This is a lot bigger than I expected.

0:12:26 > 0:12:28It does feel nice.

0:12:28 > 0:12:30But, moving on, Guy spotted a familiar problem.

0:12:30 > 0:12:33Metal tin again.

0:12:33 > 0:12:35- Horrible fence you don't like. - Horrible fence.

0:12:35 > 0:12:38And the bathroom presented another issue.

0:12:38 > 0:12:40It's a bit tight, isn't it, that bath?!

0:12:40 > 0:12:42Don't you think it's smaller? I think it's smaller.

0:12:42 > 0:12:46Danyel stayed schtum, so Guy put it to the test.

0:12:46 > 0:12:49It is small but... Obviously I'd be over the end of the bath,

0:12:49 > 0:12:53- but it is quite small still. - The house wasn't measuring up,

0:12:53 > 0:12:55but what about the garden?

0:12:55 > 0:12:58I think it's just really tight, living on top of each other.

0:12:58 > 0:13:00Danyel knew she was beat.

0:13:00 > 0:13:02I just don't think it's ticking our boxes, this house, is it?

0:13:02 > 0:13:04- No, not ticking at all.- No.

0:13:06 > 0:13:07It wasn't perfect,

0:13:07 > 0:13:10but could the family afford a house like this?

0:13:10 > 0:13:12I'm going to dread this price.

0:13:12 > 0:13:14It's going to be more because of the area.

0:13:14 > 0:13:17- Yeah. I think it's going to be more. - That's what I think.

0:13:17 > 0:13:20They had £250,000 to spend.

0:13:25 > 0:13:26Wow!

0:13:26 > 0:13:29Oh, my God! I'm feeling really positive again now.

0:13:29 > 0:13:31Yes, we didn't like this house but

0:13:31 > 0:13:33I'm feeling positive again now with regards to what we could afford.

0:13:33 > 0:13:35Yeah.

0:13:35 > 0:13:37Here we go, girls.

0:13:37 > 0:13:39Staying in the northern suburbs,

0:13:39 > 0:13:42the final stop was the popular area of Tapping,

0:13:42 > 0:13:45just 30 minutes from central Perth.

0:13:45 > 0:13:48The area has schools and parklands perfect for children.

0:13:48 > 0:13:51This is nice. You can feel the area.

0:13:51 > 0:13:53You can feel the difference in the area, can't you?

0:13:53 > 0:13:56We'd found what could be the Pedley-McKnights' dream home,

0:13:56 > 0:13:57but did they agree?

0:13:57 > 0:14:00- Oh, my God!- What do think of this?

0:14:00 > 0:14:03SQUEALING

0:14:03 > 0:14:06Hopefully, inside wouldn't be a let down.

0:14:07 > 0:14:09Oh, my God!

0:14:09 > 0:14:12It was exactly what Danyel needed to get Guy and the girls

0:14:12 > 0:14:14excited about a move.

0:14:14 > 0:14:17Oh, wow! I'm assuming it's the master bedroom.

0:14:20 > 0:14:23And the open plan living area was just what she wanted.

0:14:24 > 0:14:28- Oh, this is nice. - The couch would fit there.

0:14:28 > 0:14:31Even the sight of a fence didn't put Guy off.

0:14:31 > 0:14:33- Could you live with it? - I'd live with the tin fence,

0:14:33 > 0:14:35it'll be all right.

0:14:35 > 0:14:36Everyone was on the same page and

0:14:36 > 0:14:39the cinema room was further cause for celebration.

0:14:40 > 0:14:42Wow! Look at that!

0:14:44 > 0:14:46- Oh, my...!- That's nice, isn't it?- Really nice.

0:14:46 > 0:14:48Oh, wow!

0:14:49 > 0:14:53And the garden had a welcome surprise for Ashlee.

0:14:53 > 0:14:54- A pool!- It's what?

0:14:54 > 0:14:56A pool!

0:14:58 > 0:15:02With areas for entertaining, Danyel and the girls felt at home.

0:15:02 > 0:15:06I think these three are sold now. It's just you.

0:15:06 > 0:15:08Just me to be sold.

0:15:08 > 0:15:10Meanwhile, the family needed to find

0:15:10 > 0:15:12out how much a dream house in the sun

0:15:12 > 0:15:17really cost and whether their £250,000 budget would cover it.

0:15:17 > 0:15:19What do you think now, price-wise?

0:15:19 > 0:15:21- 325.- I think 350.

0:15:21 > 0:15:23I feel sick.

0:15:32 > 0:15:35You could just tell it was going to be around that price.

0:15:35 > 0:15:38It's not a million miles away, I guess.

0:15:38 > 0:15:39I was hoping it wasn't.

0:15:39 > 0:15:41Just 100,000.

0:15:41 > 0:15:43Yeah, I were hoping it wasn't 100,000 away, but, you know.

0:15:43 > 0:15:46Discovering the dream house was out of reach wasn't Danyel's perfect

0:15:46 > 0:15:51ending but, on the whole, it had been a successful day.

0:15:51 > 0:15:54Property one delivered much of what Danyel had hoped for.

0:15:54 > 0:15:58Discovering it was £5,000 under budget was a great start.

0:15:59 > 0:16:01Although not spacious enough,

0:16:01 > 0:16:03the location of property two had

0:16:03 > 0:16:06impressed the family and it wasn't beyond their reach.

0:16:06 > 0:16:09The final property of the day proved to be the real dream

0:16:09 > 0:16:12home but with a price tag to match.

0:16:12 > 0:16:15Remaining optimistic,

0:16:15 > 0:16:18Danyel still felt it could be something to aspire to.

0:16:18 > 0:16:20So how did the day impact on

0:16:20 > 0:16:24everyone's choice between property in the UK and Australia?

0:16:29 > 0:16:30ALL: Australia!

0:16:30 > 0:16:34- Australia.- Oh, my God!

0:16:34 > 0:16:36So my first box ticked.

0:16:45 > 0:16:49Five out of five votes for Australia was a brilliant and unexpected

0:16:49 > 0:16:51result for Danyel.

0:16:51 > 0:16:54But knowing how risk averse Guy was,

0:16:54 > 0:16:57she knew he still needed to be convinced he'd find suitable work

0:16:57 > 0:16:59down under.

0:16:59 > 0:17:04Back in the UK, Danyel was a human resources manager in a supermarket.

0:17:04 > 0:17:07I've worked for the same company now for almost 19 years.

0:17:07 > 0:17:10I've done the HR role for about five years.

0:17:11 > 0:17:13How are we doing, Steph?

0:17:13 > 0:17:17Guy had worked at the same company for 21 years but Danyel had tempted

0:17:17 > 0:17:19him with a suggestion he could

0:17:19 > 0:17:22realise his dream of becoming a policeman down under.

0:17:22 > 0:17:23She's dangling that carrot.

0:17:23 > 0:17:26It's a big carrot. It's a big difference in the job what I do now

0:17:26 > 0:17:28but it would be something I'd love to do.

0:17:28 > 0:17:31While the girls were looked after by a childminder,

0:17:31 > 0:17:34the couple explored work options in Perth.

0:17:34 > 0:17:36For Guy, the day started at the

0:17:36 > 0:17:39Western Australia Police Academy in Joondalup.

0:17:39 > 0:17:42Morning, Guy. I'm Ben. Welcome to the Police Academy.

0:17:42 > 0:17:44Ben Atherton was happy to give Guy

0:17:44 > 0:17:46the lowdown on the recruitment process.

0:17:46 > 0:17:4828-week training course here at the academy.

0:17:48 > 0:17:51There's a lot of classroom-based training -

0:17:51 > 0:17:52a lot of scenario-based training -

0:17:52 > 0:17:55and spend a few days with current serving officers.

0:17:55 > 0:17:57But Guy was about to be hit with some bad news.

0:17:57 > 0:18:00You would have to get permanent residency.

0:18:00 > 0:18:03Unless the couple could qualify for a permanent residence visa

0:18:03 > 0:18:06straightaway, Guy's plans to become

0:18:06 > 0:18:09a police officer could be on hold for another few years.

0:18:11 > 0:18:13Meanwhile, we'd arranged for Danyel

0:18:13 > 0:18:14to meet human resources manager

0:18:14 > 0:18:17Jenny Milne at a motoring organisation.

0:18:17 > 0:18:21After a quick look round, Danyel was ready to talk business.

0:18:21 > 0:18:23Now you've had a chance to look at my CV,

0:18:23 > 0:18:26have you got any thoughts of where you think

0:18:26 > 0:18:29I might fit within Western Australia's HR?

0:18:29 > 0:18:30I think at the HR business partner

0:18:30 > 0:18:32level would be a really good start for you.

0:18:32 > 0:18:36The role wasn't as senior as Danyel's current position and Jenny

0:18:36 > 0:18:40informed her there weren't any suitable vacancies at the company,

0:18:40 > 0:18:43but Danyel refused to be put off.

0:18:43 > 0:18:46So do you know if there is any jobs available in Western Australia?

0:18:46 > 0:18:49Yes, there's definitely HR manager roles.

0:18:49 > 0:18:52There's HR advisor roles in both permanent and contract.

0:18:52 > 0:18:56Encouraged, Danyel was ready to talk money.

0:18:56 > 0:18:58What are the salaries?

0:18:58 > 0:18:59£45,000.

0:19:01 > 0:19:04Wow! That's a lot more than what I would be earning now at home.

0:19:05 > 0:19:08Around £15,000 more could fuel

0:19:08 > 0:19:11Danyel's argument for making the move.

0:19:11 > 0:19:14Meanwhile, concerned about his short-term prospects,

0:19:14 > 0:19:16Guy had gone to meet Bronwyn Butcher,

0:19:16 > 0:19:20a recruitment specialist in the retail sector.

0:19:20 > 0:19:23And after his earlier disappointment, it was good news.

0:19:23 > 0:19:26I'm actually working on some roles right now, Guy,

0:19:26 > 0:19:27that I think I could place you in.

0:19:27 > 0:19:30What type of income would I be looking at?

0:19:30 > 0:19:35Anywhere between £46,000 to about £67,000.

0:19:35 > 0:19:37So that's quite promising, that.

0:19:37 > 0:19:40That's more than what I am on right now.

0:19:40 > 0:19:42It was a great result for Guy.

0:19:42 > 0:19:44But when he reunited with Danyel,

0:19:44 > 0:19:48it was clear her negative news had overshadowed the positive.

0:19:48 > 0:19:52They don't have any jobs currently for me.

0:19:52 > 0:19:55However, when Guy told her about his prospects in retail,

0:19:55 > 0:19:57her spirits soon soared.

0:19:57 > 0:19:59They said, "Yeah, there's vacancies out there now for me" -

0:19:59 > 0:20:02- on good money as well. - Why don't we just stay here

0:20:02 > 0:20:05and send you for some interviews over here?

0:20:05 > 0:20:06Why not?

0:20:08 > 0:20:11So how did the day's discoveries play out when it came to choosing

0:20:11 > 0:20:15between work in Australia and the UK?

0:20:15 > 0:20:17BOTH: Undecided.

0:20:18 > 0:20:20- What?- Just had some great

0:20:20 > 0:20:23information in retail but I'm still just...

0:20:23 > 0:20:26There's that much information going round in my head at the moment.

0:20:26 > 0:20:28- That's a copout. - It's not a copout.- It is.

0:20:32 > 0:20:36The lure of a job with a good salary wasn't enough to convince Guy and

0:20:36 > 0:20:41Danyel's undecided vote could mean she was beginning to waver, too.

0:20:41 > 0:20:45Would a day exploring the Australian lifestyle she so desperately desired

0:20:45 > 0:20:51for Leeya, Lauren and Ashlee put Danyel's dream back on track?

0:20:51 > 0:20:55Keen to let the girls experience a typical Australian activity,

0:20:55 > 0:20:57the family headed to Trigg Beach for

0:20:57 > 0:21:00a surf lesson with some students from Carine Senior High School.

0:21:00 > 0:21:03Surfing is a way of life.

0:21:04 > 0:21:08It was exactly the lifestyle Danyel had dreamt of for the girls.

0:21:08 > 0:21:10It is my dream come true.

0:21:10 > 0:21:11This is what I wanted.

0:21:11 > 0:21:16I wanted to see the girls outside and I wanted this for them.

0:21:16 > 0:21:17Well done, Ashlee!

0:21:17 > 0:21:19Well done!

0:21:19 > 0:21:21Ashlee had always been sold on her mum's idea of moving but

0:21:21 > 0:21:24the day won Leeya and Lauren over, too.

0:21:24 > 0:21:27I probably would want to move over here if we did this at school.

0:21:27 > 0:21:30I can definitely imagine myself doing this all the time.

0:21:30 > 0:21:33Guy, on the other hand, still had doubts.

0:21:33 > 0:21:36If I could pick my family up, and Danyel's family up,

0:21:36 > 0:21:39and bring them to Australia, I'd be here straightaway.

0:21:39 > 0:21:41That still is the massive pull

0:21:41 > 0:21:45and that's going to be the hardest decision we need to make.

0:21:45 > 0:21:49Danyel and Guy had lots to discuss but had the day done enough to make

0:21:49 > 0:21:52them all choose Australia over the UK?

0:21:57 > 0:21:59ALL: Australia!

0:22:01 > 0:22:03It's a no-brainer for me, to be honest.

0:22:03 > 0:22:05- The lifestyle...- I knew it from the start of the day.

0:22:05 > 0:22:06..it's just Australia.

0:22:10 > 0:22:15Danyel's dream had survived another day but she still needed to convince

0:22:15 > 0:22:17Guy moving wouldn't break the bank.

0:22:17 > 0:22:19The couple would rely on proceeds

0:22:19 > 0:22:21from the sale of their home to fund the move.

0:22:21 > 0:22:25They expected it to be worth around £150,000.

0:22:25 > 0:22:27Are you ready, then?

0:22:27 > 0:22:30We sent round two estate agents to see if they were right.

0:22:30 > 0:22:32A really good-sized front room.

0:22:32 > 0:22:35Doesn't it look good, don't you think?

0:22:35 > 0:22:36A good-sized rear garden.

0:22:36 > 0:22:38Recently landscaped.

0:22:38 > 0:22:40Ideal for a growing family.

0:22:40 > 0:22:44A good-sized bathroom but probably needs the grouting re-doing.

0:22:44 > 0:22:47Picking up on every little bit.

0:22:47 > 0:22:48In the current market,

0:22:48 > 0:22:51I'd put this property on at 145,000.

0:22:51 > 0:22:53For a quick sale, at 139,950.

0:22:53 > 0:22:55That's low, that.

0:22:55 > 0:22:56In the current market,

0:22:56 > 0:22:59I'd value property at 145,000.

0:22:59 > 0:23:02For a quick sale, I'd value the property at 140,000.

0:23:03 > 0:23:08Potentially, we could have lost £10,000 equity out of the house.

0:23:08 > 0:23:12No, we haven't. Potentially, we're only talking 5,000, aren't we?

0:23:12 > 0:23:15What I'm saying is, their advice for a quick sale...

0:23:15 > 0:23:16I know, but we don't have to.

0:23:18 > 0:23:22Concerned, the couple moved on to compare finances down under,

0:23:22 > 0:23:24starting with their weekly shop.

0:23:24 > 0:23:27Fresh mash - that's an expensive one there.

0:23:27 > 0:23:29But you could buy potatoes, if you needed to.

0:23:29 > 0:23:35- Stop being lazy. - Chicken is £1.75 more.

0:23:35 > 0:23:36Over all, the couple would pay

0:23:36 > 0:23:39almost £30 more for food every week.

0:23:39 > 0:23:42Next they compared the bigger monthly bills,

0:23:42 > 0:23:46basing their mortgage on the first property they'd viewed.

0:23:46 > 0:23:50That's £633 more than what we pay now.

0:23:50 > 0:23:53- That's huge, isn't it? It's like a wage.- It's massive.

0:23:53 > 0:23:58Staying positive, Danyel pointed out areas where they could make savings.

0:23:58 > 0:24:01And 40 better off for TV, cable TV.

0:24:01 > 0:24:04What we talked about depends what type of package we've got.

0:24:04 > 0:24:05Let's just look at that.

0:24:05 > 0:24:09We'll go with that figure, yes. Don't say, "But, but, but."

0:24:09 > 0:24:12Just leave it at that. We're £40 better off.

0:24:12 > 0:24:15Let's just move on.

0:24:15 > 0:24:19The calculations revealed they'd pay out just over £200 more

0:24:19 > 0:24:22every month in Australia.

0:24:22 > 0:24:23- OK.- I'm all right with that.

0:24:23 > 0:24:26- That's manageable.- OK.

0:24:26 > 0:24:29Danyel hoped their potentially higher salaries would make up the

0:24:29 > 0:24:32shortfall and she was right.

0:24:32 > 0:24:35Based on Guy working in retail and Danyel working full-time,

0:24:35 > 0:24:40their joint income would be almost £1,500 higher than in the UK.

0:24:40 > 0:24:42So if we were back in the UK,

0:24:42 > 0:24:45our income would be more, still, full-time.

0:24:45 > 0:24:48But that is big tick for me, full-time.

0:24:48 > 0:24:51£700 - a massive amount more money a month...

0:24:51 > 0:24:54- just for me. - Even with higher outgoings,

0:24:54 > 0:24:57the family would have more disposable income down under.

0:24:57 > 0:25:011,282 better off a month.

0:25:04 > 0:25:05Wow!

0:25:05 > 0:25:07And even recalculating to see

0:25:07 > 0:25:09where they'd stand if Danyel remained

0:25:09 > 0:25:11in part-time work, things looked good.

0:25:11 > 0:25:15We are still 10,644 a year better off.

0:25:15 > 0:25:18Here.

0:25:18 > 0:25:20It was a great result.

0:25:20 > 0:25:22So how would their findings

0:25:22 > 0:25:26influence the decision between finances in Australia and the UK?

0:25:30 > 0:25:31BOTH: Australia!

0:25:33 > 0:25:35I'm so glad you did that.

0:25:35 > 0:25:37- It's a no-brainer, isn't it? - I'm so glad you did that.

0:25:37 > 0:25:40- It's a no-brainer. - I thought I might have to kill you.

0:25:44 > 0:25:46Realising their finances could

0:25:46 > 0:25:50flourish in Australia had put Guy more in favour of a move,

0:25:50 > 0:25:52but there are some things money can't buy.

0:25:52 > 0:25:56And as the family prepared to watch messages from loved ones together,

0:25:56 > 0:26:00Danyel knew this could be the hurdle she couldn't overcome.

0:26:00 > 0:26:04Let's just put it on and just do it then.

0:26:04 > 0:26:06ALL: Hello.

0:26:06 > 0:26:07Are you having a good time?

0:26:07 > 0:26:10Don't get too sunburnt, Guy.

0:26:10 > 0:26:12How do you describe Danyel?

0:26:12 > 0:26:14She's awesome. She's mega.

0:26:14 > 0:26:16Guy's quite...

0:26:16 > 0:26:19He laughs with us but he's not so good with...

0:26:19 > 0:26:22He hasn't got a clue what we're saying, has he?

0:26:22 > 0:26:25The girls are their world, really. They do a lot with them.

0:26:26 > 0:26:29Your friends are the family that you choose but Danyel's both.

0:26:29 > 0:26:32She's like my person

0:26:32 > 0:26:36and it's really hard to imagine

0:26:36 > 0:26:38how you'd carry on without your person being there,

0:26:38 > 0:26:41being five minutes away, being ten minutes away.

0:26:41 > 0:26:44He is... He's like my big brother.

0:26:45 > 0:26:49I just could not imagine him not being there.

0:26:51 > 0:26:55It's like a big part of my life missing.

0:26:55 > 0:26:56I'm really going to miss them.

0:26:58 > 0:27:01I weren't going to cry. I said I wouldn't cry.

0:27:03 > 0:27:05No. No.

0:27:05 > 0:27:08I just... I want to see my grandchildren grow up.

0:27:10 > 0:27:12Life without you here

0:27:12 > 0:27:15would just be

0:27:15 > 0:27:18pretty hard,

0:27:18 > 0:27:24but we love you and we want you to be happy and...

0:27:24 > 0:27:28if Australia is where you are going to go to be happy,

0:27:28 > 0:27:30then we absolutely support you with that.

0:27:32 > 0:27:34I just don't want any of you to go.

0:27:34 > 0:27:36I just love you too much.

0:27:36 > 0:27:38You just need to stay at home with us.

0:27:38 > 0:27:40That's it. I can't say any more.

0:27:43 > 0:27:45I can't.

0:27:49 > 0:27:52Do you think that was harder

0:27:52 > 0:27:54or easier than you thought it was going to be?

0:27:54 > 0:27:55Harder.

0:27:57 > 0:28:00Yeah. We know the lifestyle out here is better.

0:28:01 > 0:28:04I know that now. I can see that.

0:28:04 > 0:28:06But just to see...

0:28:08 > 0:28:10..the girls upset at the moment is tough.

0:28:12 > 0:28:15That's changed my decision, I think, a bit.

0:28:20 > 0:28:24Confronting the reality of being on the other side of the world was

0:28:24 > 0:28:26tougher than anyone had expected.

0:28:26 > 0:28:29With their final decision inching ever closer,

0:28:29 > 0:28:32would the family decide the

0:28:32 > 0:28:35emotional cost of a move was too high a price to pay?

0:28:35 > 0:28:38When Danyel arrived in Perth a week earlier,

0:28:38 > 0:28:41it was the first time she'd set foot in Australia,

0:28:41 > 0:28:44but the country more than met her expectations.

0:28:44 > 0:28:48Being here this week has shown me it doesn't have to be a dream,

0:28:48 > 0:28:49it can be a reality.

0:28:49 > 0:28:53The week had allayed some of Guy's concerns about moving.

0:28:53 > 0:28:57Every day I've come here, I've felt better about Australia,

0:28:57 > 0:29:00about the kids spending their lives here.

0:29:00 > 0:29:03The family faced an incredibly tough decision -

0:29:03 > 0:29:07whether to pursue the life Danyel wanted for them or stay close to

0:29:07 > 0:29:09everything they loved in the UK.

0:29:09 > 0:29:12I feel a little bit like...

0:29:12 > 0:29:15After watching those family videos,

0:29:15 > 0:29:18it's definitely put a different spin on how I feel.

0:29:18 > 0:29:19When we watched the video,

0:29:19 > 0:29:21it just made us all upset and made

0:29:21 > 0:29:25us remember our family back in the UK.

0:29:27 > 0:29:30This is one of the hardest decisions I've ever had to make.

0:29:30 > 0:29:32I'm just torn, I really, really am torn.

0:29:34 > 0:29:38It's just so hard. Right now, I just don't know what I'm going to do.

0:29:39 > 0:29:43It was time to see where the family would call home.

0:29:53 > 0:29:55- Australia.- UK.

0:29:56 > 0:29:59- Australia?- Yeah.

0:29:59 > 0:30:03Even though I've voted Australia, I'm so upset that...

0:30:03 > 0:30:04about the family and stuff.

0:30:04 > 0:30:07I don't want to be this far from the family.

0:30:07 > 0:30:09It's been really great.

0:30:09 > 0:30:12It's just I can't see myself moving all this way when we could have

0:30:12 > 0:30:14the family just next to us.

0:30:14 > 0:30:16I didn't expect you to vote Australia.

0:30:16 > 0:30:18I can't believe it.

0:30:18 > 0:30:19Ultimately, I think

0:30:19 > 0:30:24this is where the family should be, but it's going to be tough.

0:30:24 > 0:30:27- Didn't expect...- No, I didn't.

0:30:37 > 0:30:43After a week of tears and laughter, Danyel had finally persuaded Guy

0:30:43 > 0:30:47and, surprisingly, Lauren, to sign up to the move.

0:30:47 > 0:30:51Leeya and Ashlee were going to take a little bit more work, but overall

0:30:51 > 0:30:54it looked like Danyel was well on her way to getting the life

0:30:54 > 0:30:57she'd spent years dreaming about.

0:30:58 > 0:31:03It's April 2016 and the Pedley-McKnights are living in...

0:31:03 > 0:31:04Bradford.

0:31:04 > 0:31:06Hopefully not for long, though,

0:31:06 > 0:31:10as the family are currently making plans to move down under.

0:31:10 > 0:31:13Getting to this point hasn't been straightforward,

0:31:13 > 0:31:16despite Guy signing up to Danyel's dream.

0:31:16 > 0:31:18As I voted, I voted, yeah, Australia, yeah.

0:31:18 > 0:31:23I could see us there but it still wasn't a 100% vote, to be honest.

0:31:23 > 0:31:24I knew that.

0:31:24 > 0:31:26We've been together for 19 years.

0:31:26 > 0:31:30I can read him. He voted Australia and he said the right things,

0:31:30 > 0:31:33but I had this feeling that he didn't mean it.

0:31:33 > 0:31:36I just sort of said, "I know you just voted Australia there

0:31:36 > 0:31:39"but you didn't look as excited as I thought you would have done."

0:31:39 > 0:31:42And I said, "You didn't really mean that vote, did you?"

0:31:42 > 0:31:44And he said, "No, I didn't."

0:31:46 > 0:31:49It were devastating. I felt like I were heartbroken, really.

0:31:49 > 0:31:52We talked about it again and said, "Let's not let it ruin the holiday.

0:31:52 > 0:31:57"We've got two weeks here. Let's just have some fun and we'll talk about it when we get home."

0:31:57 > 0:31:59There - swimming with dolphins, look.

0:31:59 > 0:32:02With plans to stay in the country for another two weeks,

0:32:02 > 0:32:04Danyel put her feelings aside

0:32:04 > 0:32:08to make sure the girls could make the most of their time down under

0:32:08 > 0:32:09and they had a ball.

0:32:09 > 0:32:13We swam with dolphins and it were really, really fun.

0:32:13 > 0:32:15I'm not sure...

0:32:15 > 0:32:18In the water you could, like, hear them talking to each other.

0:32:18 > 0:32:20It was really cool.

0:32:20 > 0:32:23Despite her reservations about making the country home,

0:32:23 > 0:32:26Leeya had to admit Australia was pretty awesome.

0:32:26 > 0:32:29I sort of made myself think I wouldn't like it

0:32:29 > 0:32:33because I didn't want to go but when I got there, I really did like it.

0:32:33 > 0:32:37Of course, Danyel loved it so much she didn't want to go home.

0:32:37 > 0:32:41Leaving Perth and then coming back to the UK, I've got to say,

0:32:41 > 0:32:42I were a big sulker.

0:32:42 > 0:32:44I didn't want to come home.

0:32:44 > 0:32:45I almost didn't get on the plane!

0:32:47 > 0:32:49OK. Good boy.

0:32:49 > 0:32:50With Guy's change of heart,

0:32:50 > 0:32:55the family had no option other than to settle back into life in the UK.

0:32:55 > 0:32:56But it wasn't long before

0:32:56 > 0:32:59the subject of moving to Australia raised its head again.

0:33:01 > 0:33:03Probably about a month after we got back, Danyel was saying,

0:33:03 > 0:33:06"So, what are we doing?" I couldn't make a decision.

0:33:06 > 0:33:08I was still kind of nagging him for

0:33:08 > 0:33:12an answer but he wouldn't say yes or no. It was just a definite maybe.

0:33:12 > 0:33:14I were torn. I'm still torn.

0:33:14 > 0:33:18I can see it. I could see going to live in Australia to see what it would be like

0:33:18 > 0:33:21but then I could see, I don't want to leave the family.

0:33:21 > 0:33:24Six months later we were still talking about it and

0:33:24 > 0:33:28he was still saying, "I just don't know. I don't think I want to."

0:33:28 > 0:33:29Come here, boy.

0:33:29 > 0:33:31Yeah, we had arguments, we had discussions.

0:33:31 > 0:33:34There were some real tense times, to be honest.

0:33:34 > 0:33:38We generally had moments where we didn't speak to each other

0:33:38 > 0:33:41and it was quite upsetting. I was getting upset quite regular.

0:33:45 > 0:33:47As the dust settled on her dream,

0:33:47 > 0:33:51Danyel shifted her attention to improving the life

0:33:51 > 0:33:53she already had in the UK.

0:33:53 > 0:33:57I just decided that if Australia was never going to happen,

0:33:57 > 0:34:00then something else had to happen because I couldn't just carry on

0:34:00 > 0:34:02doing the same things we've always done.

0:34:03 > 0:34:05If it wasn't going to be that,

0:34:05 > 0:34:08it would have to be something else because I wasn't happy.

0:34:08 > 0:34:13Danyel gave up her job as an HR manager for the retail firm

0:34:13 > 0:34:14she'd spent 19 years working for

0:34:14 > 0:34:18in order to do the same job part-time at a local college,

0:34:18 > 0:34:21whilst also studying for a degree in human resources.

0:34:21 > 0:34:24Guy was fully supportive of her decision.

0:34:24 > 0:34:26In a way, it took a bit of pressure off me

0:34:26 > 0:34:29that she was making these plans to go forward.

0:34:29 > 0:34:31They were plans to make our life and our home life and our

0:34:31 > 0:34:33family life better back in the UK.

0:34:35 > 0:34:37Spurred on by his wife's determination

0:34:37 > 0:34:41and his visit to the police academy in Perth, Guy's also recently

0:34:41 > 0:34:45applied to join the special police force in West Yorkshire.

0:34:45 > 0:34:47I talked about doing it for a long time.

0:34:47 > 0:34:50It's just like getting myself into the right frame of mind and saying,

0:34:50 > 0:34:51"Let's do it."

0:34:56 > 0:34:59Busy improving their life in the UK,

0:34:59 > 0:35:02Danyel's Australian dream was slowly fading

0:35:02 > 0:35:04until things took an unexpected turn

0:35:04 > 0:35:07when Guy's parents viewed footage of the family down under.

0:35:07 > 0:35:10They said, "Yeah, I can see why you want to go out there.

0:35:10 > 0:35:12"I can see why you want to live over there."

0:35:12 > 0:35:15So, that were a bit of a light bulb moment really, thinking, yeah,

0:35:15 > 0:35:18the family say, "Yeah, it's OK for you to go,"

0:35:19 > 0:35:20So let's give it a go.

0:35:20 > 0:35:22You don't mind that flight?

0:35:22 > 0:35:23You don't really notice it till...

0:35:23 > 0:35:25You don't even feel that, do you?

0:35:25 > 0:35:27- It's easier.- It's easier.

0:35:29 > 0:35:31Almost a year after their trial week,

0:35:31 > 0:35:36Guy finally had the news Danyel had given up hope of ever hearing.

0:35:36 > 0:35:39She came home from work, I were making tea

0:35:39 > 0:35:42and I just says, "OK, let's decide. I've made a decision.

0:35:42 > 0:35:44"We're going to go. Let's do it."

0:35:44 > 0:35:48I think I kind of looked at him as if to say, "Yeah, OK. I've heard this before!"

0:35:48 > 0:35:50Then he said, "No. I've spoken to my mum."

0:35:50 > 0:35:53And he told me about his conversation with his mum and dad,

0:35:53 > 0:35:55and went into a bit more detail.

0:35:55 > 0:35:58I think I just saw it in his face that he meant it,

0:35:58 > 0:36:00so I think I jumped up and down.

0:36:00 > 0:36:02We had a bit of a kiss and a cuddle

0:36:02 > 0:36:05and I think I were like, "Yay, we're going to go!"

0:36:05 > 0:36:08- Hiya. Hello.- You all right?

0:36:08 > 0:36:10- Come in here.- Sit down.

0:36:10 > 0:36:12- You all right?- All right, darling?

0:36:12 > 0:36:16Danyel wasted no time spreading the word.

0:36:16 > 0:36:17I went shouting to the girls,

0:36:17 > 0:36:19"Your dad's changed his mind and he wants to go!

0:36:19 > 0:36:22"We're going, we're going." I think I went just a little bit giddy.

0:36:22 > 0:36:24I think you were a bit too giddy at the time.

0:36:24 > 0:36:26- I think she were a bit too giddy. - I don't think you can be too giddy.

0:36:26 > 0:36:29I don't think you can be too giddy about something like that.

0:36:29 > 0:36:31When you've been stringing me along for years,

0:36:31 > 0:36:33I don't think you can say I'm too giddy.

0:36:33 > 0:36:36- I think that's unfair.- Unfair, is it? But you were a bit giddy.

0:36:36 > 0:36:39Look at that. First time she's come right close to me.

0:36:40 > 0:36:43Her excitement wasn't shared by Leeya.

0:36:43 > 0:36:48I were really shocked that he actually wants to go and...

0:36:48 > 0:36:51When it's just me and Ashlee that don't want to go against my mum

0:36:51 > 0:36:54and my dad and Lauren, I just realised I might end up

0:36:54 > 0:36:57actually going and it's not my choice if we do or don't go.

0:36:58 > 0:37:00Unfortunately for Leeya,

0:37:00 > 0:37:04Danyel's confident Guy's now completely on board.

0:37:04 > 0:37:06Go down this way, darling. Do you want to hold him?

0:37:06 > 0:37:08I haven't felt that it wasn't genuine.

0:37:08 > 0:37:10I haven't felt like he was going to change his mind

0:37:10 > 0:37:13like I always used to. Always, in the back of my mind,

0:37:13 > 0:37:15I was used to think, "It's not going to really happen."

0:37:15 > 0:37:17I haven't felt like that this time.

0:37:20 > 0:37:22It's a very, very scary thing to do.

0:37:22 > 0:37:23Very, very scary.

0:37:27 > 0:37:29But you've got to think of the girls

0:37:29 > 0:37:31and you've got to think of their growing up.

0:37:34 > 0:37:37Danyel's finally got the green light

0:37:37 > 0:37:39to start planning the life she craves.

0:37:39 > 0:37:42I started purchasing magazines.

0:37:42 > 0:37:44I was downloading application forms.

0:37:45 > 0:37:47You know, redoing the CVs.

0:37:47 > 0:37:50It's just been sort of full throttle ever since.

0:37:50 > 0:37:53And with a degree soon to be added to her CV,

0:37:53 > 0:37:56she's confident about her work prospects down under.

0:37:56 > 0:37:59The lady that I actually met while I was over on the trial week,

0:37:59 > 0:38:03she's contacted me as well to say that she would be able to consider

0:38:03 > 0:38:06offering me something part-time, if that's what I'm interested in doing.

0:38:06 > 0:38:08I just need to let her know when I get there.

0:38:08 > 0:38:12So, potentially, I've already got a part-time job when I get there.

0:38:12 > 0:38:14- Hello there.- Nice to meet you.

0:38:14 > 0:38:18To help fund a move, the family home has just gone on the market.

0:38:18 > 0:38:21- I believe you're moving to Australia.- Yeah.

0:38:21 > 0:38:24When I saw the "for sale" sign the other day when I came home,

0:38:24 > 0:38:26I've got to say, I did feel a little bit sick.

0:38:26 > 0:38:28I felt something in my stomach.

0:38:28 > 0:38:31I suppose it's that bit that it feels real now

0:38:31 > 0:38:33and I said that to Guy - "How do you feel about that?"

0:38:33 > 0:38:38He said, "It feels a bit real," but none of us weren't smiling.

0:38:39 > 0:38:43It looks like Guy and Danyel are finally on the same page.

0:38:43 > 0:38:45We've got a Plan A and a Plan B.

0:38:45 > 0:38:46We've got Plan A, which is Australia...

0:38:46 > 0:38:48- Yeah?- Yeah.- Definite.

0:38:48 > 0:38:51- What can I buy you to make you want to go?- Nothing.

0:38:51 > 0:38:54But, as the couple work towards making the move,

0:38:54 > 0:38:58the possibility of swapping Bradford for Perth is still getting

0:38:58 > 0:39:00a mixed reaction from Ashlee.

0:39:00 > 0:39:02I wouldn't like to live in Australia

0:39:02 > 0:39:06because we're leaving all the friends and family.

0:39:06 > 0:39:10But if they moved out,

0:39:10 > 0:39:12I would because it's...

0:39:12 > 0:39:16better, and warm, and you get to do more activities.

0:39:18 > 0:39:22And Leeya's still adamant she doesn't want to leave her friends.

0:39:22 > 0:39:26It would be really, really hard to leave them, not see them every day,

0:39:26 > 0:39:28and have to make new ones in Australia.

0:39:28 > 0:39:31It's harder when you have to go to a new school,

0:39:31 > 0:39:34never mind going across the world to a new school.

0:39:34 > 0:39:38But just like mum, Lauren's excited at the prospect of making the move.

0:39:38 > 0:39:40- I thought you wanted to go.- I do. - Why are you crying?

0:39:40 > 0:39:43Are you just fibbing to me and you don't want to go?

0:39:43 > 0:39:46- You're just telling me so that I'm happy?- No.

0:39:46 > 0:39:52There's loads more to do and, like, to have in Australia than in the UK.

0:39:52 > 0:39:57So, like, against each other, I know Australia is better for me.

0:39:57 > 0:39:59You won't be able to hang around with your friends.

0:39:59 > 0:40:00Is that what you're saying?

0:40:00 > 0:40:03And she's confident her sisters will soon come round.

0:40:03 > 0:40:04You won't be speaking to any of them.

0:40:04 > 0:40:07No, I won't speak to any of them.

0:40:07 > 0:40:09'I know Leeya doesn't want to go'

0:40:09 > 0:40:12but when we were out there she was really happy,

0:40:12 > 0:40:16so I think if we get out there, she'll, like...

0:40:16 > 0:40:20adapt to it. But Ashlee, I feel like, when we get there again,

0:40:20 > 0:40:21she'll love it again.

0:40:21 > 0:40:26Did your dad tell you that I scored three past him on Monday?

0:40:26 > 0:40:28Even though Guy's fully signed up this time,

0:40:28 > 0:40:32he's still uneasy at the prospect of leaving family in the UK.

0:40:34 > 0:40:36It's going to be really, really upsetting.

0:40:36 > 0:40:39I think the weeks up to it are going to be awful.

0:40:39 > 0:40:41That day's just going to be horrendous.

0:40:43 > 0:40:47I don't really want to think about it, to be honest.

0:40:47 > 0:40:50And Lauren knows just how he feels.

0:40:51 > 0:40:56I'm upset sometimes because, like, I'm really close with my family

0:40:56 > 0:40:58and to leave them is really hard,

0:40:58 > 0:41:01but then I know it's the right thing to do

0:41:01 > 0:41:04because Australia's better for us...

0:41:05 > 0:41:11..and I know that we can, like, see them because we can come home

0:41:11 > 0:41:13but it'll be hard to leave them.

0:41:17 > 0:41:19Danyel, on the other hand,

0:41:19 > 0:41:23is taking comfort from her family's words of encouragement.

0:41:23 > 0:41:25My dad, he actually said,

0:41:25 > 0:41:28"I'll be able to die happy knowing that you're living your dream."

0:41:28 > 0:41:30Because he knows it's my dream.

0:41:30 > 0:41:33And, yeah, my dream is something different for the children.

0:41:33 > 0:41:36My parents have raised us - they've done what they want to do -

0:41:36 > 0:41:38it's my turn to do the same thing for my girls now.

0:41:39 > 0:41:43The wheels are definitely in motion for the family to make the move

0:41:43 > 0:41:47and, hopefully, it won't be too much longer before they touch

0:41:47 > 0:41:49back down on Australian soil.

0:41:49 > 0:41:52In an ideal world, we'll be moving over

0:41:52 > 0:41:54in about September time this year.

0:41:54 > 0:41:55Is that what you think?

0:41:55 > 0:41:58- That's your ideal?- You've got to have positive thinking, haven't you?

0:41:58 > 0:42:01Because if you haven't got owt to work towards, what's...?

0:42:11 > 0:42:16The earliest I think's going to be January, the earliest, next year...

0:42:25 > 0:42:27You're going fast. Come on, Ashlee.

0:42:27 > 0:42:31But there's nothing to say it won't happen as fast as I'm saying.

0:42:31 > 0:42:34There's nothing to say we won't be there before Christmas.

0:42:34 > 0:42:36Is there, though? You can't guarantee it.

0:42:36 > 0:42:39- I can't guarantee it.- No. - But I don't think we will.

0:42:39 > 0:42:40- OK.- I'm a big realist.

0:42:49 > 0:42:53They might disagree on when they'll make the move,

0:42:53 > 0:42:55but the important thing is

0:42:55 > 0:43:00Guy finally agrees with Danyel about pursuing her Australian dream.

0:43:00 > 0:43:02Fingers crossed everything works out

0:43:02 > 0:43:06and the lifestyle they all fell for during their trial week

0:43:06 > 0:43:10becomes their reality sooner rather than later.

0:43:10 > 0:43:14Meantime, we wish the whole family a very happy future.
