0:00:02 > 0:00:04If you and your partner needed a fresh start in life,
0:00:04 > 0:00:07how far would you go to achieve it?
0:00:07 > 0:00:10Could you give up everything you had at home to move
0:00:10 > 0:00:13to the other side of the world?
0:00:13 > 0:00:17Two years ago, Andrea and Stan Baum faced just that decision.
0:00:17 > 0:00:20Today, we'll find out what happened next.
0:00:21 > 0:00:24Andrea and Stan had always dreamt of moving to Australia
0:00:24 > 0:00:28but in 2011, everything changed.
0:00:28 > 0:00:29Stan had an accident
0:00:29 > 0:00:33and that basically blew our whole world into pieces.
0:00:34 > 0:00:37Desperate for a new beginning, in 2013,
0:00:37 > 0:00:40the couple spent an emotional trial week in Brisbane.
0:00:40 > 0:00:44You know, to have this opportunity would be amazing.
0:00:44 > 0:00:50So, two years later, is it the UK or Australia Stan and Andrea call home?
0:00:50 > 0:00:53This is where we need to be at this stage right now in our life.
0:01:17 > 0:01:21Over 30 times the size of the UK and with breathtaking beaches,
0:01:21 > 0:01:24amazing architecture and a rich and diverse culture,
0:01:24 > 0:01:28Australia has been referred to as the biggest playground in the world.
0:01:28 > 0:01:31And with a population of just 23 million people,
0:01:31 > 0:01:34there's plenty of space for new arrivals.
0:01:34 > 0:01:37But for many, the move is far from straightforward.
0:01:39 > 0:01:44In 2013, after an incredibly challenging few years,
0:01:44 > 0:01:48Andrea and Stan Baum spent a week in Brisbane discovering
0:01:48 > 0:01:52if Australia really could offer them a second chance at life.
0:01:52 > 0:01:56Today, two years on, we'll discover where in the world
0:01:56 > 0:01:58Andrea and Stan now call home.
0:02:01 > 0:02:04The Baums original journey to Brisbane in eastern Australia
0:02:04 > 0:02:07began with a gruelling 22.5 hours on a plane.
0:02:11 > 0:02:14And when they touched down on Aussie soil,
0:02:14 > 0:02:17the distance from the UK had really hit home.
0:02:17 > 0:02:19I'm like, "Oh, yeah, it's just Australia, just Australia."
0:02:19 > 0:02:21But actually...it's really far!
0:02:23 > 0:02:25Having arrived down under for the first time,
0:02:25 > 0:02:28the couple were excited about what lay ahead.
0:02:28 > 0:02:31Just the anticipation to see if it's viable.
0:02:31 > 0:02:35You know, if it's possible to be able to live over here comfortably.
0:02:35 > 0:02:39I need to make an informed choice of whether or not
0:02:39 > 0:02:42we can financially live the dream that we want to live.
0:02:48 > 0:02:50In the UK, Stan, a former motor mechanic
0:02:50 > 0:02:54and Andrea, a nurse, were living in Loughborough in Leicestershire.
0:02:54 > 0:02:57But Andrea was hoping they wouldn't be there much longer.
0:02:57 > 0:03:01The Oz dream is kind of my little baby.
0:03:01 > 0:03:05I've wanted to go since I can remember.
0:03:05 > 0:03:09She's always said, right from the start, she wants to go to Australia.
0:03:09 > 0:03:13We've had our five-year plan and we were working towards it.
0:03:15 > 0:03:18But tragedy had struck in 2011
0:03:18 > 0:03:21when Stan was involved in a horrific motorbike accident.
0:03:24 > 0:03:29Six months after we got married, Stan had an accident.
0:03:29 > 0:03:34Um, and that basically blew our whole world into pieces.
0:03:34 > 0:03:40The last thing I kind of remember was the start of September 2010,
0:03:40 > 0:03:42which was when we got married.
0:03:42 > 0:03:45And I barely remember even getting married.
0:03:45 > 0:03:50Stan had quite a significant brain injury
0:03:50 > 0:03:55and broke pretty much every bone in his body.
0:03:55 > 0:03:59Literally from his head down to his toes.
0:03:59 > 0:04:02Stan spent six months in a coma.
0:04:02 > 0:04:05His loved ones were told to expect the worst but Andrea
0:04:05 > 0:04:08and Stan's sister Mel had refused to give up on him.
0:04:08 > 0:04:10I don't know what gave me the hope.
0:04:10 > 0:04:12Don't know what gave me the strength.
0:04:14 > 0:04:17I can't believe that I put my family through this.
0:04:17 > 0:04:19I said, "He will come back, I know he will."
0:04:19 > 0:04:24And I said, "I don't believe it and I won't believe it." And...he did.
0:04:24 > 0:04:29You know, and he came back to us and we've pushed him and motivated him.
0:04:34 > 0:04:37Against all odds and with his family's support,
0:04:37 > 0:04:39Stan had begun to recover.
0:04:44 > 0:04:48The early part of my recovery was quite...
0:04:48 > 0:04:51Well, it was painful trying to do the physio.
0:04:51 > 0:04:53Even trying to learn to walk again.
0:04:53 > 0:04:58Stan can now get himself up, washed, dressed,
0:04:58 > 0:05:02tie his own shoelaces, making me cups of tea.
0:05:02 > 0:05:05You know, it's having to learn to do everything again.
0:05:07 > 0:05:09Stan's rehabilitation was taking time
0:05:09 > 0:05:13but the couple were determined to look towards a happier future.
0:05:13 > 0:05:16Moving, however, would mean sacrificing relationships
0:05:16 > 0:05:21with the family and friends who'd supported them through their ordeal.
0:05:21 > 0:05:23The thought of moving without them
0:05:23 > 0:05:25is really upsetting and heartbreaking.
0:05:25 > 0:05:28I needed their support more than actually I realised
0:05:28 > 0:05:29I needed at the time.
0:05:30 > 0:05:33So, it meant the world and I'm indebted to them for life.
0:05:33 > 0:05:37Despite strong emotional ties, Andrea and Stan were desperate
0:05:37 > 0:05:41to put the past behind them and start afresh in Australia.
0:05:41 > 0:05:45It's where Andrea definitely wants to be and...
0:05:46 > 0:05:51Well, I'm just hoping that it's going to be good for us.
0:05:51 > 0:05:54We're literally going to be leaving everything behind
0:05:54 > 0:05:59to try and start a new life again and start a new chapter, a new book.
0:05:59 > 0:06:04So, it's literally everything. Everything is on the line.
0:06:12 > 0:06:16Stan and Andrea had been through incredibly tough times
0:06:16 > 0:06:18but were determined to see if Australia could offer them
0:06:18 > 0:06:22the opportunities and lifestyle they were dreaming of.
0:06:22 > 0:06:23For their trial week,
0:06:23 > 0:06:27they stayed in a two-bedroom apartment in Brisbane city centre.
0:06:27 > 0:06:30It was their first taste of Aussie-style living
0:06:30 > 0:06:31and first impressions were good.
0:06:33 > 0:06:35- Look at the view!- Wow.
0:06:36 > 0:06:37Oh, my God!
0:06:37 > 0:06:41Height is not one of my specialities but you know what?
0:06:41 > 0:06:44- I'll learn to love it.- Amazing. - Amazing, absolutely amazing.
0:06:44 > 0:06:46Amazing, yeah.
0:06:46 > 0:06:49If this was what we could afford, I'd suffer in silence.
0:06:49 > 0:06:51Ha-ha!
0:06:51 > 0:06:52Which would make a change.
0:06:52 > 0:06:54- SHE LAUGHS - Yeah, big change.
0:07:04 > 0:07:07Back in the UK, home for Stan and Andrea
0:07:07 > 0:07:09was a three-bedroom detached house in Loughborough.
0:07:09 > 0:07:13So what kind of Australian home were they looking for?
0:07:13 > 0:07:17Just something relatively modern, very simplistic.
0:07:17 > 0:07:22- You don't want people overlooking it.- Two toilets, pretty please.
0:07:22 > 0:07:26Whether that's two bathrooms or just two toilets, I am not fussy.
0:07:29 > 0:07:31We showed the couple three houses,
0:07:31 > 0:07:33based on what they thought they could afford,
0:07:33 > 0:07:35what they ideally wanted, and one in between.
0:07:37 > 0:07:41First up was a four-bedroom bungalow in the suburb of Springfield Lakes,
0:07:41 > 0:07:44an up-and-coming area just 35 minutes drive
0:07:44 > 0:07:45from Brisbane city centre,
0:07:45 > 0:07:49which could offer good value for money.
0:07:49 > 0:07:52- There's the garage. - That looks amazing.- Yeah.
0:07:53 > 0:07:55- SHE GASPS - Oh, sorry.
0:07:55 > 0:07:56It's all right.
0:07:58 > 0:08:01- Look how scary you are. - I'm just testing.
0:08:02 > 0:08:06Ex-mechanic Stan had caught sight of the garage from the road.
0:08:06 > 0:08:10- But what did he make of it inside? - Beautiful.- This is...
0:08:10 > 0:08:13- I've found my room.- Yeah!
0:08:13 > 0:08:17Next up, the kitchen. How did that compare?
0:08:17 > 0:08:21Our kitchen back home is...a little bit bigger.
0:08:21 > 0:08:26But it's all kind of closed in. So, this feels bigger.
0:08:26 > 0:08:28With four bedrooms and two bathrooms,
0:08:28 > 0:08:30the house should have ticked all the boxes.
0:08:30 > 0:08:33But not everything was quite to their taste.
0:08:33 > 0:08:36Some of the tiles and some of the decor is a little bit...
0:08:36 > 0:08:39- Just the colours. - Yeah, a little bit dated.
0:08:39 > 0:08:43- Luckily, the garden fared better. - Love the garden.
0:08:43 > 0:08:47- Love, love, love the garden. - Lovely size.- Yeah.
0:08:47 > 0:08:49It was a good note to end on
0:08:49 > 0:08:53but was the house within the couple's budget of around £250,000?
0:08:53 > 0:08:54I don't want to know.
0:09:02 > 0:09:03- Do you want me to turn?- Yeah.
0:09:04 > 0:09:07- Really?- Yeah.
0:09:07 > 0:09:09- That's actually quite surprising.- Yeah.
0:09:10 > 0:09:13- Yeah, that is. I thought it'd be actually over.- Yeah, I did.
0:09:13 > 0:09:16It was an encouraging start for Stan and Andrea.
0:09:16 > 0:09:18But with two more properties to view,
0:09:18 > 0:09:21they weren't committing to anything.
0:09:21 > 0:09:23Staying in Springfield Lakes,
0:09:23 > 0:09:27property two was one of the area's most populous streets.
0:09:27 > 0:09:30With lakes, parks and sporting facilities on the doorstep,
0:09:30 > 0:09:33it could have been a great base for Stan's rehabilitation.
0:09:33 > 0:09:35But did it offer the space they wanted?
0:09:37 > 0:09:40It...looks a bit...
0:09:41 > 0:09:42squished.
0:09:42 > 0:09:48- It's got this flat driveway. - I know.- So, you won't fall.
0:09:48 > 0:09:50First impressions? Not bad.
0:09:50 > 0:09:51- And inside...- Yeah.
0:09:51 > 0:09:56- Doesn't look so much size at all from the front.- Yeah.
0:09:56 > 0:09:58But it's actually quite spacious in there.
0:10:00 > 0:10:03The house had the two bathrooms Andrea wanted.
0:10:06 > 0:10:11- Very nice. Good size.- Look at the shower.- New, user-friendly.
0:10:11 > 0:10:13- I really like this.- Wow, yeah!
0:10:13 > 0:10:17- Look at the design.- Yeah. - Beautiful.- It flows.
0:10:17 > 0:10:21And I think that's the beauty of this house. It just...flows.
0:10:21 > 0:10:23Every room flows from one to the other.
0:10:23 > 0:10:26- It's brilliant for Stan's mobility. - The property scored well.
0:10:26 > 0:10:30And with four bedrooms, it also had plenty of room for visitors.
0:10:30 > 0:10:33Really nice. Ooh, got a walk-in wardrobe!
0:10:33 > 0:10:37I reckon it's going to be way over our budget. But, you know...
0:10:39 > 0:10:41..the dream. It's something to work towards.
0:10:41 > 0:10:44Andrea was already thinking of ways to make it work
0:10:44 > 0:10:48but the garden proved a disappointment.
0:10:48 > 0:10:49It's quite overlooked, actually.
0:10:50 > 0:10:54- Yeah.- I must admit I'm not a fan of the garden.
0:10:54 > 0:10:56The property had promised so much
0:10:56 > 0:10:59but the lack of outside space was a big letdown.
0:10:59 > 0:11:02Was the price enough to make the couple reconsider?
0:11:02 > 0:11:03OK. Ready?
0:11:05 > 0:11:07£260,000.
0:11:08 > 0:11:12- Yeah.- You used to be able to get a lot more for your money.
0:11:12 > 0:11:16And with the current exchange rate and everything else,
0:11:16 > 0:11:18it makes things a lot tighter.
0:11:19 > 0:11:21At £10,000 over budget,
0:11:21 > 0:11:23the house didn't appear to be worth the stretch.
0:11:31 > 0:11:34Last property of the day was a four-bedroom house in Redland Bay,
0:11:34 > 0:11:39a laid-back suburb just over 30 miles south-east of Brisbane.
0:11:39 > 0:11:41The property promised modern interiors
0:11:41 > 0:11:43but would it offer better value for money?
0:11:45 > 0:11:47- We can't afford this.- No!
0:11:47 > 0:11:49- I think...- This is going to be the carrot and the stick.
0:11:49 > 0:11:51- Way out of our budget.- Yeah.
0:11:51 > 0:11:53They've been shocked by the cost of the properties so far,
0:11:53 > 0:11:56but this house had an immediate impact.
0:11:56 > 0:11:58- I'm speechless.- Without words. - Yes.- Without words.
0:11:58 > 0:12:00For the first time, I'm actually...
0:12:01 > 0:12:03- Yeah.- ..speechless.
0:12:04 > 0:12:06And the best was yet to come.
0:12:06 > 0:12:08The property had access to facilities
0:12:08 > 0:12:10that could help Stan's recovery.
0:12:12 > 0:12:16Oh, my God! Stan, it's a gym!
0:12:18 > 0:12:21And a fitness centre! It's got a tennis court down there.
0:12:21 > 0:12:24Oh, my God! Oh, my God.
0:12:27 > 0:12:29Oh, my... I don't know what to say.
0:12:32 > 0:12:35- OK?- Yeah! I'm OK.
0:12:41 > 0:12:44It was an emotional moment as the couple realised
0:12:44 > 0:12:47just what this could mean for Stan.
0:12:47 > 0:12:49Just having that access.
0:12:50 > 0:12:53It would make his life easier.
0:12:54 > 0:12:57As well.
0:12:57 > 0:12:58It has been like...
0:12:58 > 0:13:01It has been two years since...while I've been like this.
0:13:02 > 0:13:07And...what I've had to put through with the family and everybody.
0:13:07 > 0:13:09But they've all been so supportive.
0:13:10 > 0:13:12I won't need to convert the house.
0:13:12 > 0:13:15We won't have to pay for gym equipment, we could just...
0:13:18 > 0:13:21Yeah. It would just help him out.
0:13:23 > 0:13:25He worked really hard.
0:13:25 > 0:13:29- TEARFULLY:- He did work really hard to get better and it would just...
0:13:29 > 0:13:32I feel like an idiot, sorry. Could you hold on?
0:13:33 > 0:13:35SHE SOBS
0:13:35 > 0:13:36Yeah, it does.
0:13:43 > 0:13:46When you've heard the doctors and they didn't even think
0:13:46 > 0:13:51I'd wake up, let alone be able to walk, you know, and use this arm.
0:13:51 > 0:13:56You know, so... Everything has been a challenge but it's been worth it.
0:13:57 > 0:14:03You know, and... You know, to have this opportunity would be amazing.
0:14:03 > 0:14:06Andrea knew if they could afford a property like this,
0:14:06 > 0:14:09any move would be life-changing.
0:14:09 > 0:14:10If I could, I would work...
0:14:13 > 0:14:15..till my bones ache to provide it.
0:14:20 > 0:14:23With so much resting on it, the pair were reluctant to see
0:14:23 > 0:14:27how close the property was to their £250,000 budget.
0:14:27 > 0:14:30Part of me doesn't actually want to know what that says.
0:14:33 > 0:14:35- You ready?- No.
0:14:41 > 0:14:43SHE LAUGHS
0:14:48 > 0:14:49Well...
0:14:52 > 0:14:56It was over budget but by just £17,000.
0:14:56 > 0:15:00So depending on job prospects, it could still have been within reach.
0:15:00 > 0:15:02Where do we sign on?
0:15:02 > 0:15:04- SHE LAUGHS - Yeah! Yeah!
0:15:06 > 0:15:09It had been an emotional day of house-hunting for the Baums.
0:15:14 > 0:15:16The first property was smaller than they wanted
0:15:16 > 0:15:18but they had loved the garden.
0:15:18 > 0:15:23Property two had more space but the overlooked garden left them cold.
0:15:23 > 0:15:27Property three wasn't just a dream house, it offered Stan access
0:15:27 > 0:15:30to potentially life-changing facilities.
0:15:32 > 0:15:35So, based on what they'd seen of Australian homes...
0:15:35 > 0:15:38It is time for us to vote.
0:15:38 > 0:15:41Did the couple choose property in the UK or Australia?
0:15:49 > 0:15:51- Australia.- Australia.
0:15:52 > 0:15:57Finding a house with a gym, that is, you know,
0:15:57 > 0:16:01an unbelievable, you know, option for us to try.
0:16:01 > 0:16:05It was literally like we'd won the lottery when we saw the gym.
0:16:05 > 0:16:09Because I just thought of all the things that Stan could do
0:16:09 > 0:16:13to progress and that was really...really special.
0:16:16 > 0:16:19As the sole earner and with her heart set on a house
0:16:19 > 0:16:21that could change Stan's life,
0:16:21 > 0:16:25Andrea was now feeling the pressure to find a job with a decent salary.
0:16:26 > 0:16:29Back home, she was a deputy sister in the A & E department
0:16:29 > 0:16:32at Leicester Royal Infirmary.
0:16:32 > 0:16:35Finding something similar in Australia was pivotal.
0:16:35 > 0:16:38The job's got to be right. Not just from the financial point of view.
0:16:38 > 0:16:40I mean, that has definitely got to be right.
0:16:40 > 0:16:43Former mechanic Stan wanted to return to work
0:16:43 > 0:16:46and had been taking steps to make that happen.
0:16:46 > 0:16:49I've been told that I can't be a mechanic.
0:16:49 > 0:16:54So, I've thought about pushing myself to be a teacher of mechanics.
0:16:56 > 0:16:59To get an idea of her work prospects and shift patterns,
0:16:59 > 0:17:02Andrea got a tour of a private hospital
0:17:02 > 0:17:05by fellow emergency room nurse and expat Dana Brown.
0:17:07 > 0:17:12- What hours do you work?- Do a 38-hour week. We have 12-hour shifts here.
0:17:12 > 0:17:14You can do eight-hour shifts.
0:17:14 > 0:17:18Stan meanwhile met a teacher at a further education college
0:17:18 > 0:17:21to find out if teaching mechanics was a realistic option.
0:17:22 > 0:17:25It's been nice being back here because it kind of reminds me
0:17:25 > 0:17:27of, like, when I was a mechanic.
0:17:27 > 0:17:31As he got reacquainted with the smell of diesel,
0:17:31 > 0:17:32Andrea met with the hospital's
0:17:32 > 0:17:35director of learning and development, Donna Bonney,
0:17:35 > 0:17:37to find out if work existed in Brisbane
0:17:37 > 0:17:39and how much she could earn.
0:17:39 > 0:17:41At the moment, probably wouldn't be
0:17:41 > 0:17:46as many employer-sponsored visas in the big cities.
0:17:46 > 0:17:49Maybe a better option is to go with a recruitment agency.
0:17:49 > 0:17:51Given your years of experience,
0:17:51 > 0:17:55you'd be bringing home an average of 85,000.
0:17:55 > 0:17:57- This is about double my wage.- Yes.
0:17:57 > 0:18:00Wow! I'm absolutely gobsmacked.
0:18:01 > 0:18:03It was a brilliant result for Andrea.
0:18:03 > 0:18:06But were Stan's qualifications transferable?
0:18:06 > 0:18:08To start, you're at least going to need your Certificate IV
0:18:08 > 0:18:10in training and assessment.
0:18:10 > 0:18:14- At the moment, I'm classed as disabled.- Mm-hm.
0:18:14 > 0:18:18- Would that affect me being able to work?- Definitely not.
0:18:18 > 0:18:21There's teachers here already with disabilities
0:18:21 > 0:18:22and loving it, it's great.
0:18:22 > 0:18:25How much would you think I'll be able to earn as a teacher?
0:18:25 > 0:18:27As a fully qualified teacher,
0:18:27 > 0:18:31you should be looking at around 85,000 a year.
0:18:31 > 0:18:33Yeah, that is really good.
0:18:33 > 0:18:36- Excellent, sounds like something up your alley then.- Definitely.- Yeah.
0:18:36 > 0:18:40That was a real incentive for Stan to get back into employment.
0:18:40 > 0:18:43It had been an encouraging day for the couple
0:18:43 > 0:18:46but was that enough to choose work in Australia?
0:18:51 > 0:18:54- Australia.- Australia.
0:18:56 > 0:18:58- You want to stay here?- Yes, I do.
0:18:58 > 0:19:00It's exciting. Nerve-racking.
0:19:00 > 0:19:03I didn't think I would like it as much as I did.
0:19:03 > 0:19:06The facilities for training was beyond what I expected,
0:19:06 > 0:19:09beyond what I had when I was at school.
0:19:09 > 0:19:13And the wages as well, amazing.
0:19:13 > 0:19:17And it would make a big difference to us, me working as well.
0:19:29 > 0:19:30It seemed like Stan and Andrea
0:19:30 > 0:19:33could earn enough to afford their dream house.
0:19:33 > 0:19:37But with Stan's rehabilitation a priority, it was important
0:19:37 > 0:19:40to discover if the Aussie lifestyle would meet their needs.
0:19:40 > 0:19:41It's absolutely fab.
0:19:47 > 0:19:50After exploring the city, the couple met Joe,
0:19:50 > 0:19:51a local physiotherapist,
0:19:51 > 0:19:53to see if Brisbane could offer Stan
0:19:53 > 0:19:56the same level of support he had at home.
0:19:57 > 0:20:01Our life is wrapped pretty much around Stan, his physio
0:20:01 > 0:20:05- and getting him back to as good as he's ever going to get.- Yeah, good.
0:20:05 > 0:20:07- There's a charity called Headway. - Headway.
0:20:07 > 0:20:10- We have the same in Australia as well.- Oh, do you?- Yeah.
0:20:10 > 0:20:12- Oh, that's useful. - They're based at the Gold Coast.
0:20:12 > 0:20:15We've got excellent, excellent neuro rehab service in Australia.
0:20:18 > 0:20:20It had been an enlightening day.
0:20:20 > 0:20:23So did the couple believe Australia could give Stan
0:20:23 > 0:20:24the lifestyle he needed?
0:20:28 > 0:20:30- Australia.- Australia.
0:20:32 > 0:20:34So the whole point about us moving
0:20:34 > 0:20:38this far away from friends and family is for Stan
0:20:38 > 0:20:40and what rehabilitation we've got an offer.
0:20:40 > 0:20:44And just a general lifestyle that Australia could offer both of us.
0:20:55 > 0:20:59Before Stan's accident, biking had been a real passion for the couple.
0:20:59 > 0:21:03- And it was a hobby they were raring to get back to.- Hi, Stan.
0:21:03 > 0:21:07- I'm Jason, how are you going? - Hello, Jason.- Hi, I'm Anneka.- Cool.
0:21:07 > 0:21:10They met up with a group that rode three-wheeled motorbikes
0:21:10 > 0:21:14built for speed and stability, popular with disabled users.
0:21:16 > 0:21:20- Looking to getting back on a bike? - Definitely.- Good to hear.
0:21:27 > 0:21:28It was a big day for Stan.
0:21:28 > 0:21:32The first time he had got back on a motorbike since his accident.
0:21:34 > 0:21:37Seeing Stan on the bike is fantastic.
0:21:37 > 0:21:41- Amazing experience, to be on the bike again.- It made our day.
0:21:41 > 0:21:46- We put a smile on both your faces. What more could we want?- Yeah!
0:21:46 > 0:21:47For Stan and Andrea,
0:21:47 > 0:21:50it had been yet another glimpse of the life they could lead down under.
0:21:55 > 0:21:58The couple had discovered Australia could potentially give them
0:21:58 > 0:22:01everything they'd ever wanted and more.
0:22:01 > 0:22:05But they needed to know if they could actually afford to live there.
0:22:05 > 0:22:07With Andrea the sole earner,
0:22:07 > 0:22:11any increase in bills could have spelled disaster for the move.
0:22:11 > 0:22:14Comparing their cost of living in Australia with the UK,
0:22:14 > 0:22:17they based their calculations on the dream house.
0:22:17 > 0:22:20This is when it comes down to it because...
0:22:23 > 0:22:26..on our mortgage per month, we'd be £520 worse.
0:22:27 > 0:22:28Because it's...
0:22:28 > 0:22:31The Australian property is more expensive than ours.
0:22:31 > 0:22:37The electricity here is a lot higher, it's £133 extra per month.
0:22:37 > 0:22:42Our total monthly outgoings, we're £1,000 worse off.
0:22:43 > 0:22:45But if Andrea found the job she wanted,
0:22:45 > 0:22:49she could potentially earn almost £30,000 more than at home.
0:22:49 > 0:22:52So, was that enough to deflect the hit?
0:22:57 > 0:23:02At the end of the month, we are £496 better off.
0:23:04 > 0:23:08- This is just on your wage? - That's just on my wage.
0:23:08 > 0:23:09- That is unbelievable.- Yeah.
0:23:12 > 0:23:16So, had the figures been good enough to swing another vote for Australia?
0:23:16 > 0:23:19- I think it's time for a vote. Are you ready?- I think so.- OK, go.
0:23:29 > 0:23:30- England! - RECORD SCRATCHES
0:23:30 > 0:23:32I'm only joking. Australia!
0:23:35 > 0:23:37- You got me by surprise there. - SHE LAUGHS
0:23:37 > 0:23:42- I didn't want to be too predictable. - We want to start a family together.
0:23:42 > 0:23:47You know, I want to progress. I want to get back to work.
0:23:47 > 0:23:50And it makes it all so very possible.
0:23:55 > 0:23:57It looked like Australia could deliver the fresh start
0:23:57 > 0:24:00Andrea and Stan so desperately wanted.
0:24:00 > 0:24:03But there was one major obstacle still to overcome
0:24:03 > 0:24:05as they faced leaving the friends and family
0:24:05 > 0:24:08that had supported them through their darkest times.
0:24:09 > 0:24:12- Are you ready for this? - No, but let's do it.
0:24:14 > 0:24:16Hi, guys! How are you doing?
0:24:16 > 0:24:18- Hello!- Hello, Auntie Andrea.
0:24:18 > 0:24:24Andrea, she's a... I'd say a very hard-working career girl.
0:24:24 > 0:24:25Heart of gold.
0:24:26 > 0:24:31Is Auntie Andrea nice? Do you like to play with Auntie Andrea? Yes.
0:24:31 > 0:24:36Well, the accident was horrendous. And...
0:24:36 > 0:24:39I know, you know, we didn't think Stan was going to pull through.
0:24:39 > 0:24:42One day, when they were moving him to the brain injury unit
0:24:42 > 0:24:45and I was holding his hand, he had his eyes open.
0:24:45 > 0:24:50I said to him, I just went, "Don't be scared." I said, "I know...
0:24:50 > 0:24:54"I know where you are, it's dark and you're scared. But don't be scared."
0:24:54 > 0:24:55I said, "Just come back to us,"
0:24:55 > 0:24:57because I said, "They're giving up on you."
0:24:57 > 0:25:01And I said, "I won't give up on you as long as you come back."
0:25:01 > 0:25:04Andrea, she just found the inner strength
0:25:04 > 0:25:06and carried on and carried on and she was determined
0:25:06 > 0:25:08she wasn't going to lose Stan.
0:25:08 > 0:25:11To see him progress from not being able to move them arms,
0:25:11 > 0:25:13told he would use that arm again.
0:25:13 > 0:25:15And to be able to use that arm again, move the arm.
0:25:15 > 0:25:20Now he's walking again, he's talking good. It's just amazing.
0:25:20 > 0:25:21Touched my heart, he is a legend.
0:25:21 > 0:25:24I always say he's a legend but he is a legend.
0:25:24 > 0:25:27- MAN:- I think if they go, it will have an impact on
0:25:27 > 0:25:30quite a lot of their family and friends because I think...
0:25:30 > 0:25:34they...they're loved by everybody, to be honest.
0:25:36 > 0:25:37It's just very difficult.
0:25:40 > 0:25:42You know, she's not just going to be just up the road.
0:25:42 > 0:25:44She's going to be miles away.
0:25:47 > 0:25:49SHE SOBS
0:25:49 > 0:25:53I just want her to be happy and Stan to be happy. But...
0:25:56 > 0:25:58You know, I don't want them to go that far away.
0:26:07 > 0:26:14That was worse than I thought. Just seeing how much they're hurting.
0:26:14 > 0:26:18All because I want to move to the other side of the world
0:26:18 > 0:26:20and I feel quite selfish for that.
0:26:20 > 0:26:23- Most difficult part was seeing my sister.- Hmm.
0:26:26 > 0:26:28She is so strong, isn't she?
0:26:29 > 0:26:33It's just really bad for her, the accident.
0:26:33 > 0:26:35Like how all the family and my friends
0:26:35 > 0:26:38all pulled together regardless.
0:26:38 > 0:26:43You know, it's hard to see that they were upset again.
0:26:43 > 0:26:46Hmm. I don't think you fully comprehend
0:26:46 > 0:26:48the impact that you'll have.
0:26:48 > 0:26:49I don't think you can't...
0:26:49 > 0:26:52You can, because if you did, nobody would ever move.
0:26:55 > 0:26:59Watching messages from loved ones was a heartbreaking experience
0:26:59 > 0:27:00for Andrea and Stan.
0:27:00 > 0:27:03But their week in Australia had given the couple a glimpse
0:27:03 > 0:27:05of what they could possibly gain.
0:27:06 > 0:27:08So, did the final turn of the cards
0:27:08 > 0:27:11see them choose life in the UK or Australia?
0:27:13 > 0:27:15- Are you ready? - Ah, yes, I'm ready.- OK.
0:27:26 > 0:27:28- Australia.- Australia!
0:27:29 > 0:27:33This week, I've found... Wow! It's just blown my mind, actually.
0:27:33 > 0:27:35Definitely surpassed my expectations.
0:27:35 > 0:27:38- The future's bright and sunny. - Future's looking good, yeah.- Yeah?
0:27:47 > 0:27:51With their trial week in Brisbane convincing Stan and Andrea
0:27:51 > 0:27:53they could make the fresh start they'd been hoping for,
0:27:53 > 0:27:57it looked like a move to the other side of the world was imminent.
0:27:57 > 0:27:59When we caught up with them a year ago,
0:27:59 > 0:28:02plans of their new life were being put into place.
0:28:02 > 0:28:05Andrea had managed to secure a job in Australia
0:28:05 > 0:28:08but unfortunately not in the city she'd fallen in love with.
0:28:09 > 0:28:14Finding a job in Brisbane was non-existent. There isn't any.
0:28:14 > 0:28:17We've had to look at different areas and have now got a job in Melbourne.
0:28:17 > 0:28:21So not quite where we wanted to be originally
0:28:21 > 0:28:23but, you know, it's a new place, a new challenge.
0:28:23 > 0:28:26It's meant to be the most liveable city in the world.
0:28:26 > 0:28:27With the job secured,
0:28:27 > 0:28:31all the couple needed was to gain that all-important visa.
0:28:31 > 0:28:32And after a three-month wait,
0:28:32 > 0:28:36they'd finally been put out of their misery.
0:28:36 > 0:28:38All of a sudden, she squealed.
0:28:38 > 0:28:41And I went, "Whoa, what's wrong? What's up?" And I just...
0:28:41 > 0:28:43I just thought something really bad happened to her,
0:28:43 > 0:28:45she'd hurt herself or something.
0:28:45 > 0:28:48And she says, "We got the visas!" She was so chuffed!
0:28:48 > 0:28:50It was like everything was falling into place.
0:28:50 > 0:28:54With their house on the market and flights booked,
0:28:54 > 0:28:56all that remained was to get packing.
0:28:56 > 0:28:59But for Stan, getting his tools ready was quite a task.
0:29:03 > 0:29:06If you think I've been collecting since I was 18 years old.
0:29:06 > 0:29:08It's a lot of years, that is.
0:29:08 > 0:29:09Get up at 8.00 in the morning
0:29:09 > 0:29:13and then I'm in the garage cleaning tools until about...
0:29:13 > 0:29:15Well, I get told about 10.00 at night.
0:29:15 > 0:29:17It's got to be pretty immaculate, you know.
0:29:17 > 0:29:19It's got to look like brand-new before
0:29:19 > 0:29:21they'll accept it in Australia.
0:29:26 > 0:29:29Stan and Andrea couldn't wait to start their new life down under.
0:29:29 > 0:29:32But leaving the friends and family who had supported them
0:29:32 > 0:29:36through incredibly tough times was still a daunting prospect.
0:29:36 > 0:29:38It's your safety net, if you like.
0:29:38 > 0:29:41And then all of a sudden, you're leaving that.
0:29:41 > 0:29:43They've been so supportive, you know.
0:29:43 > 0:29:45They do everything they can for me.
0:29:45 > 0:29:48Part of me feels guilty in the fact that I am pushing this.
0:29:48 > 0:29:50We're ripping both of us away from everything
0:29:50 > 0:29:52that we've ever known and loved and had.
0:29:52 > 0:29:55Maybe I shouldn't be so selfish but it's something that I have to do.
0:29:56 > 0:30:02I know this is her dream. And it's become my dream as well.
0:30:02 > 0:30:05I'm going to grab it with both horns and go for it.
0:30:06 > 0:30:09After the upset and trauma of the past few years,
0:30:09 > 0:30:11the couple were finally in a position to look
0:30:11 > 0:30:14to their future with hope and anticipation.
0:30:14 > 0:30:18Oh, I can't wait! Oh! Can't wait!
0:30:18 > 0:30:20I don't care where it is.
0:30:20 > 0:30:23As long as we're together, that is all I care about.
0:30:26 > 0:30:30It had been a year full of upheaval for Stan and Andrea,
0:30:30 > 0:30:34with potential heartache ahead as they prepared to make the move.
0:30:34 > 0:30:39So, 12 months later, have the couple finally achieved
0:30:39 > 0:30:42a fresh start on the other side of the world?
0:30:43 > 0:30:48It's 2015 and the Baums are living in...
0:30:48 > 0:30:49Australia!
0:30:50 > 0:30:54But the dream life down under got off to a very shaky start.
0:30:56 > 0:30:59First couple of weeks were hard. It was really hard.
0:30:59 > 0:31:02Um, harder than I thought.
0:31:03 > 0:31:05Saying goodbye to family and friends
0:31:05 > 0:31:08proved tougher than the couple could ever have imagined.
0:31:08 > 0:31:11We've gone through a couple of challenging times.
0:31:11 > 0:31:13Um, but that was...
0:31:13 > 0:31:16For me, that was the hardest thing I've ever done.
0:31:16 > 0:31:19The Baums touched down in Melbourne in May 2014
0:31:19 > 0:31:22but Andrea was soon struggling in the city that had never been
0:31:22 > 0:31:24her first choice for a move.
0:31:24 > 0:31:27Melbourne is meant to be the most liveable city in the world
0:31:27 > 0:31:31and it's a very pretty city and there's lots of things for it.
0:31:31 > 0:31:32But it just wasn't for me.
0:31:32 > 0:31:35The couple's new life on the other side of the world
0:31:35 > 0:31:37wasn't off to the best of starts.
0:31:37 > 0:31:39Did not feel settled at all.
0:31:39 > 0:31:43I'd kind of already got it in my head, you know, we need to...
0:31:43 > 0:31:45..eventually move up to Queensland.
0:31:45 > 0:31:48Stan was a little bit more, "No, let's stick it out, see how we go.
0:31:48 > 0:31:50"You might really love it down here."
0:31:50 > 0:31:52But I know in my heart of hearts, I wouldn't.
0:31:52 > 0:31:54It just didn't feel like home.
0:31:54 > 0:31:58I didn't feel the same as Andrea. I was optimistic.
0:31:58 > 0:32:01I have to look at things, you know, in a more positive attitude.
0:32:01 > 0:32:05And I always look at the better side of life than the worst.
0:32:05 > 0:32:08Because we've had the worst already, you know.
0:32:08 > 0:32:11So, that's how I can move forward, really.
0:32:11 > 0:32:13Despite Stan's optimism,
0:32:13 > 0:32:17Andrea felt so low just after two weeks, she was on the phone
0:32:17 > 0:32:20begging her dad to book them a flight back to the UK.
0:32:22 > 0:32:25I said to my dad, "I need you to book me a flight,
0:32:25 > 0:32:28"I need you to get me home. I need you to get me home now.
0:32:28 > 0:32:31"I'm unhappy, I don't like it, it doesn't feel right.
0:32:31 > 0:32:32"I need to be home now."
0:32:32 > 0:32:36Andrea and myself both knew it wasn't right.
0:32:36 > 0:32:41But it was an opportunity, it was the first step into Australia.
0:32:43 > 0:32:45Andrea's dad talked her into sticking it out.
0:32:45 > 0:32:48But when the couple took a trip north to visit a friend,
0:32:48 > 0:32:52Andrea was more convinced than ever Queensland was where her heart lay.
0:32:53 > 0:32:56I don't know, as soon as I stepped off the plane,
0:32:56 > 0:32:57it was a bizarre feeling.
0:32:57 > 0:32:59I don't know, I can't explain it.
0:32:59 > 0:33:02But it just felt like I was home, this is where I belong,
0:33:02 > 0:33:04this is where I need to be.
0:33:04 > 0:33:07Determined to make the move work, in his own search for employment,
0:33:07 > 0:33:11Stan had also been applying for Brisbane-based jobs
0:33:11 > 0:33:12on Andrea's behalf.
0:33:12 > 0:33:16She asked me one day just to apply for a few jobs, which I did.
0:33:16 > 0:33:19And lo and behold, she got offered a job.
0:33:20 > 0:33:22For the second time in a matter of months,
0:33:22 > 0:33:25the couple were uprooting once again.
0:33:26 > 0:33:29It was the easiest flight I've ever done, ever.
0:33:29 > 0:33:34I was literally packed...two days before we flew up.
0:33:34 > 0:33:37Everything we packed, everything we loaded in the car the night before
0:33:37 > 0:33:38and we were gone.
0:33:39 > 0:33:42Now living 20 minutes north of Brisbane,
0:33:42 > 0:33:45the couple's home is a rented property in a gated community.
0:33:45 > 0:33:50With an on-site gym and communal pool, it's perfect for Stan's needs.
0:33:50 > 0:33:53It was a bit of a godsend, to be honest, having the gym.
0:33:53 > 0:33:56Because that's the one thing that I was looking at.
0:33:56 > 0:34:00We knew that we couldn't afford to buy the equipment.
0:34:00 > 0:34:04We actually paid just a fraction extra just to have the facilities.
0:34:04 > 0:34:06But they are so worth it.
0:34:06 > 0:34:09The house may not be everything Andrea dreamed of...
0:34:09 > 0:34:13I don't like the fact that we live in what I would call Legoland,
0:34:13 > 0:34:15everything is exactly the same.
0:34:15 > 0:34:19I don't like how thin the walls and the glass is
0:34:19 > 0:34:21because you can hear everything.
0:34:21 > 0:34:24But it does have one important feature.
0:34:24 > 0:34:27Having more bathrooms is better.
0:34:27 > 0:34:29We have a laundry room.
0:34:31 > 0:34:32That's my job.
0:34:33 > 0:34:38And then we see a downstairs toilet, which is convenient for...
0:34:38 > 0:34:40- Especially with Andrea.- Hey!
0:34:40 > 0:34:43While downstairs is slightly smaller than they'd like,
0:34:43 > 0:34:46upstairs has plenty of room and...
0:34:46 > 0:34:48We have our communal bathroom.
0:34:48 > 0:34:53We've got a shower unit, bath and a sink. Then we've got a toilet.
0:34:53 > 0:34:55This is our second toilet.
0:34:56 > 0:34:59And yeah. Andrea loves the toilet.
0:35:02 > 0:35:05There's also space for visiting friends and family.
0:35:05 > 0:35:10This is our spare room. It's got a balcony. Beautiful view out there.
0:35:11 > 0:35:15This is our second spare bedroom.
0:35:15 > 0:35:18Basically, this is where I do all the ironing.
0:35:20 > 0:35:23And finally, we have our room.
0:35:23 > 0:35:26We have got our own en-suite as well.
0:35:26 > 0:35:28And yes, you guessed it.
0:35:28 > 0:35:29Third toilet.
0:35:31 > 0:35:33Andrea is going to view that one really well.
0:35:33 > 0:35:34What more could a girl want?
0:35:36 > 0:35:41Stan's delighted with the new home for his beloveds tools.
0:35:41 > 0:35:45We've got our garage which we can keep the car in.
0:35:45 > 0:35:49And also all my tools, which really is amazing
0:35:49 > 0:35:54considering in the UK, you struggle to even fit your car in.
0:35:55 > 0:35:59Although the house is a good fit for the couple, it is remote.
0:35:59 > 0:36:02Meaning a trip to the shops can be a challenge for Stan.
0:36:04 > 0:36:07I think the first time I tried to do it, it took me two hours.
0:36:07 > 0:36:11And the second time, just after a bit of training,
0:36:11 > 0:36:14it took me an hour and 40 minutes, wasn't it?
0:36:14 > 0:36:17To walk there, literally try and get what we wanted,
0:36:17 > 0:36:20which wasn't there, and then walk straight back.
0:36:20 > 0:36:24But walking in the Aussie sunshine has worked wonders
0:36:24 > 0:36:26for Stan's rehabilitation.
0:36:26 > 0:36:31Since we've been over here, my mood, my emotions improve no end.
0:36:31 > 0:36:33I'm training quite well.
0:36:33 > 0:36:34You know, I think even though
0:36:34 > 0:36:37my weight's dropped down to about 10st,
0:36:37 > 0:36:39I'm feeling a lot fitter, a lot better.
0:36:39 > 0:36:41Making a massive difference.
0:36:42 > 0:36:45Andrea has settled in well to her new job.
0:36:45 > 0:36:50I'm currently working in a private emergency department in Brisbane.
0:36:50 > 0:36:54She's been impressed with the hospital's working practices.
0:36:54 > 0:36:55It's the time factor.
0:36:55 > 0:36:59You actually have time to care for your patient, which is nice.
0:36:59 > 0:37:02And that's not the only plus.
0:37:02 > 0:37:03The money is a massive bonus.
0:37:03 > 0:37:07I earn double my wage compared to what I did in the UK.
0:37:07 > 0:37:10While Andrea is at work, Stan's keeping busy too.
0:37:10 > 0:37:13I clean the house, top to bottom,
0:37:13 > 0:37:15make sure it's as clean and tidy as possible.
0:37:15 > 0:37:20Then I will go to the gym, I'll do my training at the gym.
0:37:20 > 0:37:23I come back to the house, probably do a little bit more trailing.
0:37:23 > 0:37:29So, that takes up a couple of hours in itself. And then I prepare food.
0:37:29 > 0:37:33You know, make sure dinner is ready if we're eating that night.
0:37:33 > 0:37:37And then finally, apply for jobs.
0:37:37 > 0:37:38That is my day.
0:37:40 > 0:37:42Though Stan's job hunt for Andrea was a success,
0:37:42 > 0:37:46his own search for work has been more frustrating.
0:37:46 > 0:37:49I've been applying for so many jobs
0:37:49 > 0:37:54and I've been looking mainly at using my skills, you know,
0:37:54 > 0:37:59as a mechanic to help me with getting employment elsewhere.
0:37:59 > 0:38:04Like a service advisor, parts, something like that.
0:38:04 > 0:38:07Something where I can use the skills that I've got.
0:38:07 > 0:38:12He's constantly on the phone chasing potential work opportunities.
0:38:12 > 0:38:14I'm rehabilitating myself all the time.
0:38:15 > 0:38:18No problem at all, thank you very much.
0:38:18 > 0:38:19Definitely, will do. Thank you.
0:38:21 > 0:38:22Bye.
0:38:22 > 0:38:24Yeah, I've even looked into teaching as well.
0:38:24 > 0:38:27But at the minute, the problem is
0:38:27 > 0:38:31employers only see me as a liability.
0:38:31 > 0:38:33You know, a risk for them.
0:38:33 > 0:38:35- Shall we have a wander? - Yes. Where are we going?
0:38:35 > 0:38:38You can tell me about it. Come on, then.
0:38:38 > 0:38:42It's been eight months of a struggle, yes.
0:38:42 > 0:38:43I just feel bad for Stan
0:38:43 > 0:38:47because this whole move was about opportunities and things.
0:38:47 > 0:38:50And there are lots of opportunities, it's just getting the right one.
0:38:50 > 0:38:53But he'll find it. I've got no doubt, he'll find it.
0:38:53 > 0:38:57He's having a bit of time off. He's adjusting to Australian lifestyle.
0:38:57 > 0:39:00I just feel, you know, it's a challenge.
0:39:00 > 0:39:05All of it, everything that I've had to do, it's all a challenge.
0:39:05 > 0:39:07Just got to find that right person.
0:39:09 > 0:39:11While there's only one wage coming in,
0:39:11 > 0:39:15more money in Andrea's pay packet means the couple can afford to
0:39:15 > 0:39:17make the most of their new-found free time.
0:39:17 > 0:39:21When we were in the UK, we just didn't do anything.
0:39:21 > 0:39:26Andrea worked a lot of the time and then because she worked so hard,
0:39:26 > 0:39:29when she was home, she just wanted to chill.
0:39:29 > 0:39:31So, it is a big change being out here.
0:39:34 > 0:39:38I've been trying to save up just to kind of have a bit of a backup.
0:39:38 > 0:39:41Because we didn't have hardly any money at all in England
0:39:41 > 0:39:42and I've got...
0:39:42 > 0:39:45We have a little bit more disposable cash here.
0:39:45 > 0:39:48Not a lot but it's enough to put into savings
0:39:48 > 0:39:50and pay for a nice holiday.
0:39:50 > 0:39:51Really want to go to Fiji.
0:39:54 > 0:39:57And it's not just holidays on the to-do list.
0:39:57 > 0:39:59Stan and Andrea have kept in touch with the biker group
0:39:59 > 0:40:01from their trial week.
0:40:02 > 0:40:04They're great, absolutely great.
0:40:04 > 0:40:08Stan was such an inspiration to us when we first met him.
0:40:08 > 0:40:12Now it's just been awesome to see the way he's handled himself
0:40:12 > 0:40:13and got himself up and going.
0:40:14 > 0:40:18One of our aims is to try and get him riding a Can-Am Spyder soon.
0:40:20 > 0:40:22Once I get working again,
0:40:22 > 0:40:24I wanted to look at buying an automatic one
0:40:24 > 0:40:26so I can get back to driving again.
0:40:27 > 0:40:31- No.- No, no!- The couple have found it easy making new friends.
0:40:31 > 0:40:34My new work colleagues, they're really friendly as well
0:40:34 > 0:40:37and we've gone out a couple of times.
0:40:37 > 0:40:40There are groups that you can go, so if you're a movie buff,
0:40:40 > 0:40:42there's a movie group.
0:40:43 > 0:40:48There's walking groups, there's expat groups, there's...
0:40:48 > 0:40:50There's all sorts.
0:40:50 > 0:40:54So is there anything Andrea and Stan miss about the UK?
0:40:55 > 0:40:57I definitely don't miss the weather.
0:40:57 > 0:41:00You know. Um, I don't...
0:41:00 > 0:41:02I miss the cars, I suppose.
0:41:02 > 0:41:04Miss the rain, don't you?
0:41:04 > 0:41:08- That's what you miss about the UK. - Yeah, the wind and the rain!
0:41:08 > 0:41:12The snow, the cold... No. I actually miss my old work.
0:41:12 > 0:41:14I don't miss the bitching and moaning
0:41:14 > 0:41:15on the way back from your work.
0:41:15 > 0:41:20- It's just because I was busy.- Stress relief.- Yeah, I moan at you anyway.
0:41:20 > 0:41:21Deal with it. You married me.
0:41:23 > 0:41:26The move down under may have had its teething problems...
0:41:26 > 0:41:31Looking back, the move was stressful, intense.
0:41:31 > 0:41:35Took more out of me than I thought it would.
0:41:37 > 0:41:42It was tough. I didn't expect it to be an easy move at all.
0:41:42 > 0:41:44I expected it to be tough.
0:41:44 > 0:41:46And it's been everything that I have expected.
0:41:47 > 0:41:51But Andrea and Stan are adamant it was the right thing to do.
0:41:52 > 0:41:55I don't regret moving. I did at the time.
0:41:55 > 0:41:58I was like, "I'm going home, I just want to be back with my family,
0:41:58 > 0:42:01"I want to be back where my comfort zone is."
0:42:01 > 0:42:05But now we've been here coming up to a year,
0:42:05 > 0:42:08I've got no regrets in moving. I've got no...
0:42:08 > 0:42:12This is where we need to be at this stage right now in our life.
0:42:12 > 0:42:17I think moving has been the best thing I've done so far.
0:42:17 > 0:42:22I mean, it's quite hard missing out on family life.
0:42:22 > 0:42:25But in myself, I feel it has been the best move.
0:42:26 > 0:42:30So, are the couple living the dream life they've chased for so long?
0:42:30 > 0:42:31This is my dream.
0:42:31 > 0:42:35A few little tweaks that I need to make but that's just comes in time.
0:42:35 > 0:42:38I'm living A dream.
0:42:38 > 0:42:42Not my ideal dream because...
0:42:42 > 0:42:44I need to be working.
0:42:44 > 0:42:48I need to be working back on cars, I need to be riding bikes.
0:42:48 > 0:42:51Doing the stuff I loved before.
0:42:51 > 0:42:54I've just got to keep getting stronger, getting better
0:42:54 > 0:42:58and I will, you know, end up living my dream.
0:43:01 > 0:43:06Having overcome many obstacles and hurdles in pursuit of their dream,
0:43:06 > 0:43:10Andrea and Stan now look poised to enjoy a very rosy new life
0:43:10 > 0:43:12on the other side of the world.
0:43:12 > 0:43:16We wish them a happy and well-deserved future together.
