0:00:02 > 0:00:05Moving your family halfway around the world is a massive

0:00:05 > 0:00:07challenge at the best of times.

0:00:07 > 0:00:10But it's even tougher when you've never visited the country you hope

0:00:10 > 0:00:14to call home and some of your family just don't want to go.

0:00:14 > 0:00:19Danyel Pedley-McKnight is desperate to uproot her family to Australia.

0:00:19 > 0:00:22It is my dream come true. This is what I wanted for them.

0:00:22 > 0:00:24But her husband and oldest daughters find the thought of leaving

0:00:24 > 0:00:28everyone they love in the UK too much to bear.

0:00:28 > 0:00:31It would just be us over there, no-one else that we knew.

0:00:31 > 0:00:35So when a week down under shows them all what life could be like...

0:00:35 > 0:00:37What do you think of this?

0:00:37 > 0:00:39THEY SCREAM

0:00:39 > 0:00:41..will the whole family agree to make the move

0:00:41 > 0:00:44or decide home is where the heart is?

0:00:44 > 0:00:46Yes, we know the lifestyle out here is better,

0:00:46 > 0:00:50but just to see the girls upset at the moment is tough.

0:01:12 > 0:01:14Straddling the Pacific and Indian Oceans,

0:01:14 > 0:01:18Australia is the smallest continent on earth.

0:01:18 > 0:01:22Home to just over 23 million people, its population continues to

0:01:22 > 0:01:26rise at one of the fastest rates in the developed world.

0:01:26 > 0:01:30With over 10,000 beaches and a sun-soaked climate, it's no surprise

0:01:30 > 0:01:35the country is the number one destination for British families moving abroad.

0:01:37 > 0:01:41Danyel Pedley-McKnight is consumed with the belief Australia

0:01:41 > 0:01:45is the place to give her children the action-packed, healthy outdoor

0:01:45 > 0:01:47lifestyle she craves for them.

0:01:47 > 0:01:50But with her daughters disinterested,

0:01:50 > 0:01:53a husband worried about leaving their life in the UK

0:01:53 > 0:01:56and a failed visa attempt already behind her,

0:01:56 > 0:02:01she faces an uphill struggle if she's ever going to make it happen.

0:02:01 > 0:02:05Now she has a week to convince her family to follow her dream.

0:02:07 > 0:02:10To reach Perth in Australia, the family spend almost 18 hours

0:02:10 > 0:02:13in the sky, flying from London via Dubai.

0:02:15 > 0:02:18And everyone is relieved when the journey is over.

0:02:18 > 0:02:22- It was harder than I expected, to be fair.- I am genuinely exhausted.

0:02:22 > 0:02:25Of the children, Ashlee found it the easiest.

0:02:25 > 0:02:29I liked the flight because of the TVs.

0:02:29 > 0:02:33But Danyel is excited to have made it down under for the first time.

0:02:33 > 0:02:36Now I'm here and I'm looking at the sun, I've forgot all that now.

0:02:36 > 0:02:39- It is like labour. It has gone. - SHE LAUGHS

0:02:39 > 0:02:42Guy is already worried about how far they've come.

0:02:42 > 0:02:44That is something that is playing on my mind, to be honest.

0:02:44 > 0:02:47And Lauren, she's tired and emotional.

0:02:47 > 0:02:50It is just how far away it is from everyone.

0:02:52 > 0:02:53SHE LAUGHS

0:02:55 > 0:02:58I think I need a tissue.

0:02:58 > 0:03:01As the family head off into Perth, Danyel knows she could have a battle

0:03:01 > 0:03:05on her hands convincing Guy, Leeya and Lauren to follow her dream.

0:03:09 > 0:03:12Meet the Pedley-McKnights from Bradford in West Yorkshire.

0:03:13 > 0:03:17They're dad Guy, mum Danyel, 12-year-old Leeya,

0:03:17 > 0:03:20ten-year-old Lauren and seven-year-old Ashlee.

0:03:21 > 0:03:23Right foot green.

0:03:23 > 0:03:26Together for almost 20 years, Danyel

0:03:26 > 0:03:29- and Guy are proof opposites attract. - I'm very outgoing.

0:03:29 > 0:03:34I'm quite happy to take risks, so I'm quite impulsive, and he's not.

0:03:34 > 0:03:38I'm a realist, really. I don't like to go and dream, but Danyel does.

0:03:38 > 0:03:41You're not overly fussed about trying anything new.

0:03:43 > 0:03:47- A bit boring, really.- A bit boring, yeah. Maybe a bit boring.

0:03:49 > 0:03:52But Danyel's latest dream is threatening to shake Guy

0:03:52 > 0:03:54out of his comfort zone forever.

0:03:54 > 0:03:58Since attending a seminar about emigrating to Australia

0:03:58 > 0:04:01four years ago, she's been determined to move her family

0:04:01 > 0:04:03to the other side of the world.

0:04:03 > 0:04:07I just came back absolutely buzzing with the idea that we need to

0:04:07 > 0:04:09move there, because it is the best thing since sliced bread.

0:04:09 > 0:04:12Guy wasn't keen, but convinced the country offered

0:04:12 > 0:04:15the girls a better life, Danyel pushed ahead

0:04:15 > 0:04:18and signed up with an emigration company to secure a visa.

0:04:20 > 0:04:23The day that I registered for that company, I was like, "Yeah, OK.

0:04:23 > 0:04:25"Within six months, we will probably be in Australia."

0:04:25 > 0:04:29My heart sank, I thought, "What have we done this for?"

0:04:29 > 0:04:32Guy resigned himself to following Danyel's dream.

0:04:32 > 0:04:35I put the house up for sale. We got offers on the house.

0:04:35 > 0:04:39But their plans came to an abrupt halt when, six months

0:04:39 > 0:04:43and thousands of pounds later, a visa failed to materialise.

0:04:43 > 0:04:46So we had lost £2,600, I think it was.

0:04:46 > 0:04:49I was quite angry that we'd lost that money

0:04:49 > 0:04:52and that the company could do that to you.

0:04:57 > 0:04:59It was a difficult time for the couple,

0:04:59 > 0:05:02but Danyel refuses to give up and three years later

0:05:02 > 0:05:06she is more determined than ever to follow her heart.

0:05:06 > 0:05:09When we're out for the day, if it starts to rain, I will say

0:05:09 > 0:05:11things like, "If we were in Australia it wouldn't be like this."

0:05:11 > 0:05:14Or when we are in the car and it's really sunny, I'll say,

0:05:14 > 0:05:17"If we were in Australia it would be like this all the time."

0:05:17 > 0:05:21The girls are well used to Danyel's constant Australia patter.

0:05:21 > 0:05:24She'll always, from the conversation we are having,

0:05:24 > 0:05:26she will be able to bring up Australia in it.

0:05:26 > 0:05:28And the more she talks,

0:05:28 > 0:05:31the more vivid Danyel's vision of her life in Australia becomes.

0:05:31 > 0:05:34The girls will have their few hours at school.

0:05:34 > 0:05:38I'll be at work, but not as many hours as I have to put in now.

0:05:38 > 0:05:39Guy will be doing his dream job.

0:05:39 > 0:05:42We will come home and then go swimming in the back garden,

0:05:42 > 0:05:43or what have you.

0:05:43 > 0:05:46And we'll be earning double what we earn over here,

0:05:46 > 0:05:48so we'll have this massive grand house.

0:05:48 > 0:05:50We can afford to have our family come and stay with us.

0:05:50 > 0:05:53So as unrealistic as it is, that is my dream.

0:05:53 > 0:05:55It's raining, let's go.

0:05:55 > 0:05:58But having made a costly mistake before, Danyel knows

0:05:58 > 0:06:02convincing Guy to make the move is going to be a mammoth task.

0:06:04 > 0:06:07I think about...with my head rather than my heart.

0:06:07 > 0:06:12It is all about finances, jobs, house, can we afford it?

0:06:12 > 0:06:14Are we going to be stable?

0:06:14 > 0:06:18Used to having family on the doorstep, Guy is also racked

0:06:18 > 0:06:21with guilt at the prospect of leaving his parents in the UK.

0:06:21 > 0:06:24If owt happens, what am I going to feel like?

0:06:24 > 0:06:26Because if we are at the other end of the world,

0:06:26 > 0:06:28it's not as though you can just jump on a bus.

0:06:28 > 0:06:31And that's why I'm just torn, I really am.

0:06:35 > 0:06:38Leeya and Lauren share Guy's concerns about giving up

0:06:38 > 0:06:41everything they have at home.

0:06:41 > 0:06:44I'm so close to my family, and my cousins especially.

0:06:46 > 0:06:48And I've just gone up to high school

0:06:48 > 0:06:50and I've made so many close friends.

0:06:50 > 0:06:53It is just going to be hard to restart again.

0:06:54 > 0:06:57It would just be us over there, no-one else that we knew.

0:06:59 > 0:07:03And like... On special days like birthdays or anything,

0:07:03 > 0:07:05or Christmas, it would just be us.

0:07:05 > 0:07:08And it wouldn't be like a family day

0:07:08 > 0:07:11because we wouldn't have any family over there.

0:07:11 > 0:07:14The week ahead is Danyel's best chance to convince Guy

0:07:14 > 0:07:18and the girls Australia really is where they belong.

0:07:18 > 0:07:20We can't keep living our life in limbo,

0:07:20 > 0:07:23we've done it for the last four years. We need to make the decision.

0:07:23 > 0:07:28This week in Australia, it's really important to us

0:07:28 > 0:07:32because it's going to depend on what we are going to do...

0:07:32 > 0:07:34for our life and where we live.

0:07:38 > 0:07:39If we were to get over there,

0:07:39 > 0:07:42and even if I thought it was absolutely everything

0:07:42 > 0:07:46I dream of and if it ticks every single box,

0:07:46 > 0:07:49if my girls look at me and say, "Mummy, we can't go..."

0:07:55 > 0:07:56..then we won't go.

0:08:06 > 0:08:09To find out if Australia offers the lifestyle Danyel has been

0:08:09 > 0:08:11dreaming of, the family are visiting Perth.

0:08:11 > 0:08:14Their home for the week is in Quinns Rock,

0:08:14 > 0:08:17a coastal suburb 25 miles north of the city.

0:08:17 > 0:08:19But will their first taste of Australia living meet

0:08:19 > 0:08:21Danyel's expectations?

0:08:22 > 0:08:25It looks like a Neighbours house or Home And Away house.

0:08:25 > 0:08:29- Hopefully that's not a sign of drama to come.- Let's have a look.

0:08:29 > 0:08:33- Oh, my word.- No complaints yet.

0:08:33 > 0:08:35Wow!

0:08:35 > 0:08:38- That's massive, isn't it?- This is... - This is what you said.

0:08:38 > 0:08:40- Open-plan.- This is the open-plan.

0:08:40 > 0:08:42Everyone is happy so far, but when they discover

0:08:42 > 0:08:46a pool in the garden, the excitement levels go through the roof.

0:08:46 > 0:08:48What's that, Ashlee?

0:08:48 > 0:08:50THEY LAUGH

0:08:50 > 0:08:51It is a pool!

0:08:51 > 0:08:55It's everything Danyel has talked about, and even Guy seems impressed.

0:08:55 > 0:08:58- It is thumbs up for me. It is good.- So excited.

0:08:58 > 0:09:02I feel like a kid that has been given a Christmas present.

0:09:02 > 0:09:04I wanted my husband and my children to think it was

0:09:04 > 0:09:07just as great as I do, and so far they have.

0:09:07 > 0:09:10But despite all the positive energy, as the family settles in,

0:09:10 > 0:09:13it's clear Guy is not committing to anything just yet.

0:09:13 > 0:09:18It is the biggest decision we are going to make in our lifetime.

0:09:18 > 0:09:23So we've just got to weigh it up this week, see what happens,

0:09:23 > 0:09:26and see if we do live the dream.

0:09:26 > 0:09:28Everything depends on the next seven days,

0:09:28 > 0:09:31and Danyel is hoping it all goes to plan.

0:09:32 > 0:09:37Even though I've had this dream for forever, the girls and Guy haven't.

0:09:37 > 0:09:39I need to convince them.

0:09:39 > 0:09:42Well, I hope Australia convinces them and I won't need to.

0:09:54 > 0:09:56In the UK, home for the Pedley-McKnights

0:09:56 > 0:09:58is a five-bedroom house in Bradford,

0:09:58 > 0:10:02but Danyel is so focused on her dream she's lost heart in it.

0:10:02 > 0:10:05We stopped decorating, we stopped doing everything we wanted to do

0:10:05 > 0:10:07because I think, "Well, I'm just going to leave it anyway."

0:10:07 > 0:10:11Guy has grown used to seeing Danyel tempt the girls with Australian properties online.

0:10:11 > 0:10:13She is viewing houses.

0:10:13 > 0:10:15"Look at this, girls, look at the state of this house,"

0:10:15 > 0:10:19or, "We could get this house, we might be able to afford this house."

0:10:19 > 0:10:20If Danyel gets her way,

0:10:20 > 0:10:25the couple's budget for a house in Australia is around £250,000.

0:10:25 > 0:10:28And she knows exactly what she wants.

0:10:28 > 0:10:32I want the open-plan kitchen, dining area, the pool.

0:10:32 > 0:10:35Not too far from the beach. Not too far from the schools.

0:10:35 > 0:10:39That would be great. But it needs to be new, it needs to be grand.

0:10:41 > 0:10:43To find out what kind of house they could have,

0:10:43 > 0:10:46we'll show the family three properties - two on budget

0:10:46 > 0:10:49and a third which could be their dream home.

0:10:49 > 0:10:52Only after they've seen each one will they find out its value.

0:10:57 > 0:11:00To get the day under way, the family travel 40 minutes

0:11:00 > 0:11:05north of central Perth to the well-established suburb of Clarkson.

0:11:05 > 0:11:08Offering schools, recreation and shopping facilities

0:11:08 > 0:11:11and only ten minutes' drive from the beach, it's the kind of area

0:11:11 > 0:11:16Danyel wants, but will the house be up to spec?

0:11:16 > 0:11:18Wow, double garage. Oh, my God!

0:11:18 > 0:11:21Guy is happy before they've even parked up.

0:11:21 > 0:11:24- Inside impresses initially... - Wow, that's...

0:11:24 > 0:11:28..but moving on to the master bedroom, Guy quickly finds a fault.

0:11:28 > 0:11:32I hate that fence. I just don't like it at all.

0:11:32 > 0:11:34Tinned fence. It just doesn't look right to me.

0:11:34 > 0:11:37Danyel skilfully shifts the girls' attention to the impressive

0:11:37 > 0:11:39- walk-in wardrobe. - Is that a walk-in wardrobe?

0:11:39 > 0:11:42- Yes, what do you think of that? - Look at the size of that.

0:11:42 > 0:11:43Look at the size of that.

0:11:43 > 0:11:46- You could live in there, Ashlee. - I really want a walk-in wardrobe.

0:11:46 > 0:11:48- You want a walk-in wardrobe?- Yeah!

0:11:48 > 0:11:51With three daughters, Guy is easily outnumbered.

0:11:51 > 0:11:54And the open-plan living-kitchen area is exactly what

0:11:54 > 0:11:56Danyel has been dreaming of.

0:11:56 > 0:11:59- Oh, my...- Wow.

0:11:59 > 0:12:02Danyel is speechless, and the girls already feel at home.

0:12:02 > 0:12:06- I could see myself here.- Could you? What about you?- Yeah, I could.

0:12:06 > 0:12:07And Guy?

0:12:07 > 0:12:08It is nice.

0:12:08 > 0:12:11It is a great start for Danyel, and with three other bedrooms,

0:12:11 > 0:12:15the girls would have their own space, too. And the bathroom?

0:12:15 > 0:12:17Oh, this is nice.

0:12:17 > 0:12:20- I quite like that enclosed bath. - It seems quite small.

0:12:20 > 0:12:23- It would be... - It'll be a standard-size bath.

0:12:23 > 0:12:27With a little help from Danyel, the property has sold itself inside,

0:12:27 > 0:12:31but outside Guy has spotted another blot on the landscape.

0:12:31 > 0:12:33- I don't like that brick wall there. - Why?

0:12:33 > 0:12:35I don't know, I just don't like it.

0:12:35 > 0:12:39Once again, Danyel swiftly sidesteps Guy's negativity.

0:12:39 > 0:12:41I like the fact that you can't be overlooked.

0:12:41 > 0:12:44In ours, you can be overlooked from someone upstairs.

0:12:44 > 0:12:46This is high, you can't be overlooked in the garden.

0:12:46 > 0:12:50But she knows her words are falling on deaf ears.

0:12:50 > 0:12:52I'm a bit gutted, really,

0:12:52 > 0:12:56- because you seem to be quite disappointed with it now.- I do, yes.

0:12:56 > 0:12:59I think even if the inside is nice, the outside is not.

0:13:01 > 0:13:05After a really positive start, Danyel could have hit a wall,

0:13:05 > 0:13:08but she's still keen to find out what this house costs

0:13:08 > 0:13:13and whether their £250,000 budget would be enough to cover it.

0:13:13 > 0:13:17- I realistically think it is 290. - I think it is going to be 260.

0:13:17 > 0:13:19Seeing some of the other houses, I think I'm going

0:13:19 > 0:13:21to say it is on budget.

0:13:21 > 0:13:24Time to find out if Danyel is right or wrong.

0:13:29 > 0:13:32Oh, my God! £240,400!

0:13:32 > 0:13:36- See, I knew it, didn't I? I knew it when...- That's cheap.

0:13:36 > 0:13:40She may be a dreamer, but Danyel is on the money here.

0:13:40 > 0:13:43- So with that 5,000 we could buy a pool. - SHE LAUGHS

0:13:43 > 0:13:45- You could get a pool in there. - You can get a small pool.

0:13:45 > 0:13:48- Get a paddling pool. Get a hot tub. - Get a tub.

0:13:51 > 0:13:54House-hunting has got off to a great start for the Pedley-McKnights.

0:13:54 > 0:13:57Hopefully, the next home will be just as promising.

0:13:57 > 0:13:59Right, let's go see the next house now.

0:13:59 > 0:14:03It's in Carramar, an area slightly closer to central Perth.

0:14:03 > 0:14:07Although further inland, it's still only 15 minutes from the beach.

0:14:07 > 0:14:10With an excellent range of amenities, including parks and shops,

0:14:10 > 0:14:13it should be a perfect fit for the family.

0:14:16 > 0:14:18I like that it is a cul-de-sac.

0:14:18 > 0:14:20Guy is happy with the location,

0:14:20 > 0:14:24- but will the house be somewhere the family could call home?- Wow!

0:14:24 > 0:14:27- It is big.- I don't like that.

0:14:27 > 0:14:31It is just what we don't have, walking into a room with no doors.

0:14:31 > 0:14:33But...I don't mind it.

0:14:35 > 0:14:40- Straight away, Danyel's on the defence.- Good size.- Yeah.

0:14:40 > 0:14:44Master bedroom, isn't it? If you have a look in there.

0:14:44 > 0:14:46And another roomy wardrobe keeps Lauren onside.

0:14:46 > 0:14:48Ever since Mum started talking about it,

0:14:48 > 0:14:50I've always wanted a walk-in wardrobe.

0:14:50 > 0:14:55- The en suite is not small either. - Look at the size of those showers.

0:14:55 > 0:14:58And once again, the open-plan living area is a winner.

0:14:58 > 0:15:00Oh, my God. Look at the size of this!

0:15:03 > 0:15:06When I walked in and saw that room, I thought that might have been it.

0:15:06 > 0:15:08And this is a lot bigger than I expected.

0:15:08 > 0:15:10It does feel nice.

0:15:10 > 0:15:13Despite initial reservations, Guy could be coming round.

0:15:13 > 0:15:15But when they move on to look at the other bedrooms,

0:15:15 > 0:15:18he spots a familiar problem.

0:15:18 > 0:15:19A metal tin again.

0:15:20 > 0:15:23- Horrible fence you don't like. - Horrible fence.

0:15:23 > 0:15:25Danyel could have a battle on her hands convincing Guy to

0:15:25 > 0:15:29go for a place like this, and the bathroom presents another issue.

0:15:29 > 0:15:34It is a bit tight, that bath. They are smaller, don't you think?

0:15:34 > 0:15:37Don't you think they are smaller? I think it is smaller.

0:15:37 > 0:15:41Danyel is staying shtoom, so Guy puts it to the test.

0:15:41 > 0:15:44It is small, but obviously I would be at the other end of the bath.

0:15:44 > 0:15:46But it is quite small still.

0:15:46 > 0:15:51Moving on, even Danyel realises this house might not be a perfect fit.

0:15:51 > 0:15:54As much as we need a house for five of us, ultimately

0:15:54 > 0:15:59we want enough space to be able to have family over, don't we?

0:15:59 > 0:16:00I don't think it's right.

0:16:00 > 0:16:04The house hasn't measured up, but what about the garden?

0:16:04 > 0:16:07I think it is just really tight, love, you're on top of each other.

0:16:07 > 0:16:10Getting the sun, though, in the middle of the day. It is nice.

0:16:10 > 0:16:12Again, Danyel knows when she's beaten.

0:16:12 > 0:16:15I just don't think it's ticking our boxes, this house.

0:16:15 > 0:16:16No, it isn't ticking it at all.

0:16:18 > 0:16:22It might not be perfect, but can the family afford a house like this?

0:16:24 > 0:16:26- The dreaded price. - The dreaded price.

0:16:26 > 0:16:28It is going to be more because of the area.

0:16:28 > 0:16:30Yes, I think it is going to be more.

0:16:31 > 0:16:34They have £250,000 to spend.

0:16:40 > 0:16:43- Oh, my God! - I was expecting £300,000.

0:16:43 > 0:16:45I would expect it to be a lot more because of the area.

0:16:45 > 0:16:48I'm feeling really positive again. Yes, we didn't like this house,

0:16:48 > 0:16:51but I'm feeling positive again with regards to what we can afford.

0:16:58 > 0:17:00Here we go, girls.

0:17:00 > 0:17:01Staying in the northern suburbs,

0:17:01 > 0:17:05- the family head to the popular area of Tapping.- Look at the size of that.

0:17:05 > 0:17:07- Look at that one.- Oh, my God!

0:17:07 > 0:17:11Just 30 minutes from central Perth, the area has schools

0:17:11 > 0:17:14and parklands perfect for the children.

0:17:14 > 0:17:15This is nice. You can feel the area.

0:17:15 > 0:17:17You can feel the difference in the area, can't you?

0:17:17 > 0:17:21We've found what could be the Pedley-McKnights' dream home,

0:17:21 > 0:17:23but will they agree?

0:17:23 > 0:17:24THE GIRLS SCREAM

0:17:24 > 0:17:26What do you think of this?

0:17:26 > 0:17:28THEY SCREAM

0:17:28 > 0:17:32Excited, girls? Hopefully what's inside won't be a letdown.

0:17:32 > 0:17:35- Oh!- Oh, my God.

0:17:35 > 0:17:39Danyel did say she wanted grand, and Guy is blown away too.

0:17:39 > 0:17:41It's got that "wow" effect, hasn't it? It's just got that...

0:17:43 > 0:17:45This is exactly what Danyel needs to make Guy

0:17:45 > 0:17:49- and the girls share her vision for their future.- Oh, wow.

0:17:49 > 0:17:51I'm assuming it is the master bedroom.

0:17:51 > 0:17:54And with three more big bedrooms, the girls are spoilt for choice.

0:17:54 > 0:17:56- Leeya's.- This is my bedroom!

0:17:56 > 0:17:58This is mine!

0:17:58 > 0:18:02Next up, the open-plan living area is just what Danyel has been

0:18:02 > 0:18:06- looking for.- This is nice. - The couch would fit there.

0:18:06 > 0:18:07Guy's impressed too.

0:18:07 > 0:18:10You can tell the difference in finish, can't you?

0:18:10 > 0:18:11Quality, the finish.

0:18:11 > 0:18:14And even the sight of a fence isn't enough to put him off.

0:18:14 > 0:18:17- Could you live with it? - I could live with a tin...- Ah!

0:18:17 > 0:18:19I could live with a tin fence for this.

0:18:19 > 0:18:22This place has definitely put everyone on the same page,

0:18:22 > 0:18:26and the discovery of a cinema room is further cause for celebration.

0:18:26 > 0:18:29- Wow, look at that! - THEY LAUGH

0:18:29 > 0:18:32- Oh, my...- That's nice, isn't it? - Really nice.

0:18:32 > 0:18:34THEY LAUGH

0:18:34 > 0:18:36Imagine DVD night here.

0:18:36 > 0:18:39And when the family make their way to the garden,

0:18:39 > 0:18:41there's a welcome surprise for Ashlee.

0:18:41 > 0:18:43- A pool!- A what?- A pool!

0:18:43 > 0:18:46THEY LAUGH

0:18:46 > 0:18:50At last, a house with a pool. And Ashlee can't wait to dip her toes in.

0:18:50 > 0:18:52Oh, this is gorgeous.

0:18:52 > 0:18:55With areas for entertaining, it's exactly what Danyel wants,

0:18:55 > 0:18:59- but what about everyone else? - I think these three are sold now.

0:18:59 > 0:19:01- It is just you.- Just me to be sold.

0:19:03 > 0:19:06There could be trouble ahead, but for now

0:19:06 > 0:19:09the family need to find out how much a dream house in the sun

0:19:09 > 0:19:14would really cost, and whether their £250,000 budget would cover it.

0:19:14 > 0:19:17- What do you think now, price-wise? - 325.

0:19:17 > 0:19:20- 310.- 310. I think 350.

0:19:20 > 0:19:24I feel sick. I do actually feel sick, yeah.

0:19:27 > 0:19:29Time to put Danyel out of her misery.

0:19:34 > 0:19:37£344,400.

0:19:37 > 0:19:40- You were the closest.- I was closest for the first time ever.

0:19:40 > 0:19:43You could just tell it was going to be around that price.

0:19:43 > 0:19:45You could tell by the difference in quality.

0:19:45 > 0:19:49- It is 100,000 more than the first one.- It is just over 100,000.

0:19:49 > 0:19:53It's not, you know, it's not a million miles away, I guess.

0:19:53 > 0:19:55- SHE LAUGHS - I was hoping...- Just 100,000.

0:19:55 > 0:19:58Yeah, I was hoping it wasn't 100,000 away, but, you know.

0:20:00 > 0:20:03Discovering the dream house was out of reach for now wasn't

0:20:03 > 0:20:06Danyel's perfect ending, but on the whole

0:20:06 > 0:20:08it's been a successful day for the family.

0:20:09 > 0:20:13Property one delivered much of what Danyel was hoping for,

0:20:13 > 0:20:17and discovering it was £5,000 under budget was a great start.

0:20:17 > 0:20:20Although not spacious enough, the location of property two

0:20:20 > 0:20:22impressed the family

0:20:22 > 0:20:24and it wasn't beyond their reach.

0:20:25 > 0:20:28The final property of the day proved to be a real dream home,

0:20:28 > 0:20:31but with a price tag to match.

0:20:31 > 0:20:33Remaining optimistic, Danyel still felt

0:20:33 > 0:20:35it could be something to aspire to.

0:20:37 > 0:20:40So, how will the day impact on everyone's choice

0:20:40 > 0:20:43between property in Australia and the UK?

0:20:46 > 0:20:48ALL: Australia!

0:20:48 > 0:20:50- Australia... - DANYEL LAUGHS EXCITEDLY

0:20:50 > 0:20:53- Oh, my God!- Australia.

0:20:53 > 0:20:56- I think we all saw the houses, then, yeah?- My first box ticked.

0:21:10 > 0:21:13Five out of five votes for Australia is a brilliant

0:21:13 > 0:21:17and unexpected result for Danyel, but knowing how risk averse Guy is,

0:21:17 > 0:21:21she realises her dream could yet end up washed up

0:21:21 > 0:21:24if he can't be convinced he'll find suitable work down under.

0:21:26 > 0:21:31Back in the UK, Danyel is a human resources manager in a supermarket.

0:21:31 > 0:21:34I've worked for the same company now for almost 19 years.

0:21:34 > 0:21:37I've done the HR role for about five years.

0:21:37 > 0:21:38How we doing...?

0:21:38 > 0:21:42Guy's been employed at the same company for 21 years

0:21:42 > 0:21:44but unlike his wife, who's happy to move on,

0:21:44 > 0:21:47having worked his way up to being a store manager

0:21:47 > 0:21:49he's reluctant to leave.

0:21:49 > 0:21:52It's very daunting. I've never worked anywhere else.

0:21:52 > 0:21:56I've never had to have an interview outside of the chain.

0:21:56 > 0:21:58Convinced he could have an even better job,

0:21:58 > 0:22:01Danyel's been tempting Guy with a suggestion

0:22:01 > 0:22:04he could realise his dream of becoming a policeman down under.

0:22:04 > 0:22:07She's dangling that carrot that, "If you can go over to Australia,

0:22:07 > 0:22:10"you might be able to apply for the police force in Australia."

0:22:10 > 0:22:13It's a big carrot, a big difference in the job that I do now

0:22:13 > 0:22:16but it would be something I'd love to do.

0:22:16 > 0:22:19While the girls are looked after by a childminder,

0:22:19 > 0:22:22the couple set about exploring work options in Perth.

0:22:22 > 0:22:27For Guy, the day starts at the Western Australian Police Academy in Joondalup.

0:22:27 > 0:22:30- Morning, Guy, I'm Ben. Nice to meet you, mate.- Hi, nice to meet you.

0:22:30 > 0:22:32- I'm Guy, nice to meet you. - Welcome to the police academy.

0:22:32 > 0:22:34Ben Atherton's recently joined the force

0:22:34 > 0:22:38and is happy to give Guy the lowdown on the recruitment process.

0:22:38 > 0:22:4128-week training course here at the academy.

0:22:41 > 0:22:43There's a lot of classroom-based training,

0:22:43 > 0:22:44a lot of scenario-based training.

0:22:44 > 0:22:48There's the OSTU, covering firearms and all the accoutrements,

0:22:48 > 0:22:49your deployment into suburbs,

0:22:49 > 0:22:52and spend a few days with current-serving officers.

0:22:52 > 0:22:56Sounds good, but Guy is about to be hit with some bad news.

0:22:56 > 0:22:58If you were still considering joining the police,

0:22:58 > 0:23:00you would have to get permanent residency.

0:23:00 > 0:23:03- Permanent residency as well? - Yeah. Yourself.- Right.

0:23:04 > 0:23:07Unless the couple can qualify for a permanent residence visa

0:23:07 > 0:23:11straight away, it looks like Guy's plans to become a police officer

0:23:11 > 0:23:13could be on hold for another few years.

0:23:15 > 0:23:18It's something in the long run we can look into, but obviously

0:23:18 > 0:23:21I would have to look at some sort of other career prior to it.

0:23:23 > 0:23:26Hopefully, Danyel's chances of finding the job

0:23:26 > 0:23:29she wants straight away are more likely.

0:23:29 > 0:23:33- Hi.- Hi, Danyel. Welcome to the RAC. Nice to meet you.

0:23:33 > 0:23:36She's keen to move away from retail, so we've arranged for her to meet

0:23:36 > 0:23:41human resources manager Jennie Milne at a motoring organisation.

0:23:41 > 0:23:44- So, come on up, we'll come up to the HR area.- OK.

0:23:44 > 0:23:48After a quick look around, Danyel is ready to talk business.

0:23:48 > 0:23:51Now you've had a chance to look at my CV, have you got any

0:23:51 > 0:23:55thoughts of where you think I might fit within Western Australia's HR?

0:23:55 > 0:23:59- I think at the HR business partner level would be a really good start for you.- OK.

0:23:59 > 0:24:03Advising our leaders within the business, or any organisation.

0:24:03 > 0:24:06The role isn't as senior as Danyel's current position,

0:24:06 > 0:24:09and when Jennie informs her there aren't any suitable vacancies

0:24:09 > 0:24:11at the company it's a double blow.

0:24:11 > 0:24:14But Danyel's refusing to be put off.

0:24:14 > 0:24:17So, do you know if there's any jobs available in Western Australia?

0:24:17 > 0:24:19Yes, there's definitely HR manager roles,

0:24:19 > 0:24:23HR adviser roles in both permanent and contract.

0:24:23 > 0:24:28Encouraged, Danyel moves on to ask about a typical working week in Australia.

0:24:28 > 0:24:30What kind of hours do you guys work?

0:24:30 > 0:24:318.30 till 5.

0:24:31 > 0:24:35Unless you were in an organisation that has seven-day operations,

0:24:35 > 0:24:39most businesses are only going to be working Monday to Friday.

0:24:39 > 0:24:42Used to shift work at home, that's better news.

0:24:42 > 0:24:44What are the salaries?

0:24:44 > 0:24:45About £45,000.

0:24:47 > 0:24:51Wow. That's a lot more than what I would be earning now at home.

0:24:51 > 0:24:54Around £15,000 more.

0:24:54 > 0:24:57That could fuel Danyel's argument for making the move,

0:24:57 > 0:25:00so on the whole it's been a good meeting.

0:25:00 > 0:25:03The salaries are fantastic, the title's not really an issue

0:25:03 > 0:25:05cos it's just the differences from the UK to here,

0:25:05 > 0:25:07so that's not an issue.

0:25:07 > 0:25:10But, you know, it's a fantastic company from the sounds of it

0:25:10 > 0:25:14and the fact that they don't have any jobs, it is disappointing.

0:25:14 > 0:25:18Meanwhile, concerned about his short-term prospects,

0:25:18 > 0:25:19Guy goes to meet Bronwyn Butcher,

0:25:19 > 0:25:23a recruitment specialist in the retail sector.

0:25:23 > 0:25:25And after his earlier disappointment,

0:25:25 > 0:25:27he's delighted to hear what she has to say.

0:25:27 > 0:25:31There's actually a skill shortage at senior level for store managers.

0:25:31 > 0:25:33That's really good, that is.

0:25:33 > 0:25:35I'm actually working on some roles right now, Guy,

0:25:35 > 0:25:37that I actually think I could place you in.

0:25:37 > 0:25:39What type of income would I be looking at?

0:25:39 > 0:25:44Anywhere between £46,000 to about £67,000.

0:25:44 > 0:25:49So that's quite promising, that. That's more than what I'm on now.

0:25:49 > 0:25:53It's been a great result for Guy, but when he reunites with Danyel,

0:25:53 > 0:25:57it's soon clear her negative news is overshadowing the positive.

0:25:57 > 0:26:02They don't have any jobs currently for me. It wasn't fantastic, really.

0:26:04 > 0:26:07She's further disappointed by Guy's news on police recruitment,

0:26:07 > 0:26:12but when he tells her about the rest of his day her spirits soon soar.

0:26:12 > 0:26:14I went to see a recruitment agency and they said, yeah,

0:26:14 > 0:26:17there's vacancies out there now for me, on good money as well.

0:26:17 > 0:26:22Well, why don't we stay and send you for some interviews over here?

0:26:22 > 0:26:24- Ahhh! - THEY LAUGH

0:26:24 > 0:26:27Hmm, nice try, Danyel!

0:26:27 > 0:26:30So, how will the day's discoveries play out

0:26:30 > 0:26:33when it comes to choosing between work in Australia and the UK?

0:26:39 > 0:26:40BOTH: Undecided.

0:26:42 > 0:26:44What?!

0:26:44 > 0:26:45Had some great information with retail

0:26:45 > 0:26:48but not good information about the police that I wanted to do.

0:26:48 > 0:26:52But you could do retail and two years later apply for your police when you're a permanent resident.

0:26:52 > 0:26:57Yeah. I'm still just undecided. There's that much information going round my head at the moment...

0:26:57 > 0:26:59- That's a cop out. - It's not a cop out!- It is.

0:27:06 > 0:27:09Even the lure of a job with a good salary wasn't enough to

0:27:09 > 0:27:12convince Guy on employment prospects down under,

0:27:12 > 0:27:17and Danyel's undecided vote could mean she is now beginning to waver.

0:27:17 > 0:27:21A day exploring the Australian lifestyle she so desperately

0:27:21 > 0:27:25desires for Leeya, Lauren and Ashlee could be just what's needed

0:27:25 > 0:27:28to put Danyel's dream back on track

0:27:28 > 0:27:31and get the rest of the family onside.

0:27:32 > 0:27:36Keen to let the girls experience a typical Australian activity,

0:27:36 > 0:27:39the family head to Trigg Beach for a surf lesson

0:27:39 > 0:27:42with some students from Carine Senior High School.

0:27:42 > 0:27:45- Surfing isn't just, like, a thing, it's a way of life.- Way of life!

0:27:45 > 0:27:48Is it great for the kids to meet other kids and to socialise as well?

0:27:48 > 0:27:51It's really good. You get to meet lots of people out in the water.

0:27:51 > 0:27:54- You make, like, really good friends with people.- Yeah.

0:27:58 > 0:28:03It's exactly the lifestyle Danyel has been trying to sell to the girls.

0:28:03 > 0:28:05It's a dream come true. It is my dream come true.

0:28:05 > 0:28:07This is what I wanted.

0:28:07 > 0:28:10I wanted to see the girls outside and I wanted this for them.

0:28:13 > 0:28:14Paddle...

0:28:14 > 0:28:17Close your hands together so you get the most deepest paddle.

0:28:17 > 0:28:18So we go one, two...

0:28:22 > 0:28:24- Well done, Ashlee!- Well done!

0:28:24 > 0:28:27And Guy agrees the experience is something special.

0:28:27 > 0:28:29It's just amazing,

0:28:29 > 0:28:34seeing the girls out here, having fun, meeting new people,

0:28:34 > 0:28:38experiencing things they've never experienced before.

0:28:38 > 0:28:40Ashlee's always been sold on her mum's idea of moving,

0:28:40 > 0:28:44but today's winning Leeya and Lauren over too.

0:28:44 > 0:28:47To do this every day at school would be really good.

0:28:47 > 0:28:50I probably would want to move over here if we did this at school.

0:28:50 > 0:28:53I can definitely imagine myself doing this all the time.

0:28:53 > 0:28:57Their enthusiasm has increased Danyel's determination

0:28:57 > 0:28:59to get the life she's been pining for.

0:28:59 > 0:29:01When it were just a dream,

0:29:01 > 0:29:04it was a dream of a country that I'd never even been to and all it was

0:29:04 > 0:29:07is research, but now I've seen it I want it even more.

0:29:10 > 0:29:13Guy, on the other hand, still has doubts.

0:29:13 > 0:29:17I've got so much mixed emotions going round at the moment.

0:29:17 > 0:29:20If I could pick my family up, and Danyel's family up,

0:29:20 > 0:29:22bring them to Australia, I'd be here straight away.

0:29:22 > 0:29:25Without doubt, I'd be here.

0:29:25 > 0:29:28But that is... That's still the massive pull

0:29:28 > 0:29:31and that's going to be the hardest decision we need to make.

0:29:31 > 0:29:34The family round off their day with an ice cream on the beach.

0:29:34 > 0:29:37- If we were at home, these wouldn't be melting, would they?- No.

0:29:37 > 0:29:39- They'd be nice and cold.- Yeah.

0:29:39 > 0:29:42That's because it is nice and cold!

0:29:42 > 0:29:46Everyone has embraced the Australian lifestyle, but it's not long

0:29:46 > 0:29:49before Guy steers the conversation round to his biggest concern.

0:29:49 > 0:29:54I've still got that thing about the family in the back of my head.

0:29:54 > 0:29:56- We can't change that, though, can we?- I know we can't.

0:29:56 > 0:29:57And I don't know...

0:29:57 > 0:30:00And that's my concern, I don't know what it's going to be like.

0:30:00 > 0:30:04Looks like Danyel and Guy have much more discussing to do.

0:30:04 > 0:30:07But first, it's time to find out if today has done enough

0:30:07 > 0:30:10to make them all choose Australia over the UK.

0:30:12 > 0:30:16Based on the things you have done today, it is now time to vote.

0:30:23 > 0:30:25ALL: Australia!

0:30:27 > 0:30:29We're going Australia.

0:30:29 > 0:30:33- It's a no-brainer, to be honest. - I knew it from the start of the day!

0:30:33 > 0:30:34Lifestyle is... It's just Australia.

0:30:44 > 0:30:46With everyone bowled over by the beach,

0:30:46 > 0:30:48Danyel's dream survives another day.

0:30:48 > 0:30:52But knowing Guy's cautious nature, she's aware she'll need to

0:30:52 > 0:30:54convince him moving won't break the bank.

0:30:56 > 0:30:59The couple would rely on proceeds from the sale of their home to fund the move.

0:30:59 > 0:31:03They believe its value is around £150,000.

0:31:03 > 0:31:06- Are you ready, then?- Yeah. - Are you ready for it?

0:31:06 > 0:31:10To see if they're right, we sent round two estate agents.

0:31:10 > 0:31:12- It's the house!- Oooh!

0:31:12 > 0:31:14Really good-size front room.

0:31:14 > 0:31:16Doesn't it look good? Don't you think?

0:31:16 > 0:31:20Ah, good-size rear garden, recently landscaped.

0:31:20 > 0:31:22Ideal for the growing family.

0:31:22 > 0:31:25- Massive. If you think about it, it is quite big, the garden. - It's massive.

0:31:25 > 0:31:27Good-size bathroom. Nice shower cubicle.

0:31:27 > 0:31:30But probably needs the grouting redoing.

0:31:30 > 0:31:33Grout... Picking up on every little bit.

0:31:33 > 0:31:37In the current market, I would put this property on at 145,000

0:31:37 > 0:31:40- and, for a quick sale, 139,950. - That's low, that.

0:31:40 > 0:31:45In the current market, I would value this property at 145,000.

0:31:45 > 0:31:48For a quick sale, I would value the property at 140,000.

0:31:49 > 0:31:54Potentially, we could have lost £10,000 equity out of the house.

0:31:54 > 0:31:58No, we haven't. Potentially we're only talking 5,000, aren't we?

0:31:58 > 0:32:01But what I'm saying is, their advice for a quick sale...

0:32:01 > 0:32:03- Yeah, I know, but we don't have to. - We don't have... Well, yeah.

0:32:03 > 0:32:06It's not a deal-breaker for me, for that.

0:32:06 > 0:32:10The couple move on to compare their finances down under.

0:32:10 > 0:32:13To help, we've provided some on-the-ground figures,

0:32:13 > 0:32:14starting with the weekly shop.

0:32:14 > 0:32:18- Fresh mash. That's an expensive one, there.- But we could buy potatoes.

0:32:18 > 0:32:21- You could buy potatoes if you needed to.- Stop being lazy!

0:32:21 > 0:32:26Chicken is 1.75 more expensive.

0:32:26 > 0:32:30Which we have to buy, cos Lauren doesn't eat anything else.

0:32:30 > 0:32:32- Beef's cheaper. - Beef's quite a lot cheaper.

0:32:32 > 0:32:35In fact, the beef would almost compensate for the chicken.

0:32:35 > 0:32:40Overall, the couple would pay almost £15 more for food every week.

0:32:40 > 0:32:42It's nothing, is it, really?

0:32:42 > 0:32:45But Guy's convinced they would be spending even more.

0:32:45 > 0:32:48Say, £10 to £15 on top of that.

0:32:48 > 0:32:50On average, I'm saying, top up things...

0:32:50 > 0:32:52So we've got one lot of milk on there,

0:32:52 > 0:32:54we'd add another milk, wouldn't we?

0:32:54 > 0:32:56- You know what we're like.- Right.

0:32:56 > 0:32:59Even with the extras, the figure seems manageable.

0:32:59 > 0:33:03Yeah, so it's only £29 a week extra.

0:33:03 > 0:33:06I expected it to be more than that.

0:33:06 > 0:33:07OK.

0:33:08 > 0:33:11Next, the couple compare their bigger monthly bills,

0:33:11 > 0:33:14basing their mortgage on the first property they viewed.

0:33:14 > 0:33:18And that's £633 more than what we pay now.

0:33:18 > 0:33:22- That's huge, isn't it? It's like a wage.- Massive.

0:33:22 > 0:33:25Staying positive, Danyel points out the areas

0:33:25 > 0:33:27where they could make savings.

0:33:27 > 0:33:31- And 40 better off for TV. Cable TV. That's good.- But we talked about...

0:33:31 > 0:33:33It depends what type of package we've got.

0:33:33 > 0:33:35Yeah, but let's just look at that.

0:33:35 > 0:33:37Let's just look at that. We'll go with that figure, yeah?

0:33:37 > 0:33:40- Don't say "But, but, but..."- But, but, but...- Let's leave it at that.

0:33:40 > 0:33:43- £40 better off there. Let's just...move on.- OK!

0:33:43 > 0:33:47The calculations reveal they will be paying out just over

0:33:47 > 0:33:50£200 more every month in Australia.

0:33:50 > 0:33:53- OK, so shall we...? - I'm all right with that.

0:33:53 > 0:33:55- That's manageable.- OK.

0:33:55 > 0:33:58Danyel's hopeful the couple's potentially high salaries

0:33:58 > 0:34:01will make up the shortfall, and she's not wrong.

0:34:01 > 0:34:05Based on Guy working in retail and Danyel working full time,

0:34:05 > 0:34:10their joint income would be almost £1,500 higher than in the UK.

0:34:10 > 0:34:11Can we just talk about that for a sec,

0:34:11 > 0:34:13before you go on to something else?

0:34:13 > 0:34:16You're looking at that figure. You have to take away that figure there.

0:34:16 > 0:34:18Don't forget, you're part time now.

0:34:18 > 0:34:22So if we were back in the UK, your figure, our income, would be more still, full time.

0:34:22 > 0:34:25But that is a big tick for me, full time.

0:34:25 > 0:34:29£700, massive amount more money a month just for me.

0:34:32 > 0:34:35So it's all good at the moment. It's all thumbs up at the moment.

0:34:35 > 0:34:39- You need to tell your face it's thumbs up.- It is, though, it is!

0:34:39 > 0:34:43Even with their higher outgoings, the final sums show the family

0:34:43 > 0:34:46would have more disposable income down under.

0:34:46 > 0:34:50- 1,282 better off... - 1,282 better off a month.

0:34:50 > 0:34:53- ..a month.- Wow.

0:34:53 > 0:34:57It's a considerable increase, and even recalculating to see where

0:34:57 > 0:35:01they'd stand if Danyel remained in part-time work, things look good.

0:35:01 > 0:35:07- We are still 10,644 a year better off.- Better off here.

0:35:10 > 0:35:12Big ticks, isn't it, yeah?

0:35:12 > 0:35:15Despite Guy's add-ons, Danyel's been proven right.

0:35:15 > 0:35:18So how will their findings influence their decision between finances

0:35:18 > 0:35:20in Australia and the UK?

0:35:20 > 0:35:22Are you ready? Let's go for it.

0:35:27 > 0:35:29BOTH: Australia.

0:35:30 > 0:35:34- So glad you did it.- It's a no-brainer.- So glad you did that!

0:35:34 > 0:35:36- It's a no-brainer. - Thought I might have to kill you!

0:35:42 > 0:35:45Realising their finances could flourish in Australia

0:35:45 > 0:35:47could've put Guy more in favour of a move,

0:35:47 > 0:35:50but there are some things money can't buy,

0:35:50 > 0:35:54and as the family prepare to watch messages from loved ones together

0:35:54 > 0:35:57Danyel knows this could be the hurdle she just can't overcome.

0:35:59 > 0:36:01And this is the biggest decision.

0:36:01 > 0:36:03This is the hardest part, it's going to be now.

0:36:03 > 0:36:06- And Lauren's already crying. - Are you all right, love?- Already!

0:36:06 > 0:36:08Oh, are you all right?

0:36:09 > 0:36:11- Right, are we ready, then? - Just put it on.

0:36:11 > 0:36:13Let's just put it on. Let's just do it, then.

0:36:13 > 0:36:15ALL: Hello!

0:36:15 > 0:36:17You having a good time?

0:36:17 > 0:36:18Don't get too sunburnt, Guy.

0:36:20 > 0:36:22How to describe Danyel? Erm...

0:36:22 > 0:36:25She's awesome. She's mega.

0:36:25 > 0:36:26'Guy is quite...'

0:36:26 > 0:36:28He laughs with us, but he's not so big with the funny.

0:36:28 > 0:36:32He ain't got a clue what we're saying, has he? No.

0:36:32 > 0:36:34The girls are their world, really. Yeah.

0:36:34 > 0:36:36'Do a lot with them.'

0:36:36 > 0:36:39'Your friends are the family that you'd choose, but Danyel's both...'

0:36:39 > 0:36:42my friend and my family.

0:36:42 > 0:36:47And she's, like, my person, and it's really hard to imagine...

0:36:48 > 0:36:51..how you would carry on without your person being there,

0:36:51 > 0:36:54being five minutes away, being ten minutes away.

0:36:54 > 0:36:55- He's... - SHE SNIFFS

0:36:55 > 0:36:58He's like my big brother.

0:36:58 > 0:37:01I just could not imagine them not being there.

0:37:04 > 0:37:07It's like a big part of my life missing.

0:37:07 > 0:37:09I'm really going to miss them.

0:37:11 > 0:37:13I wasn't going to cry. I said I wouldn't cry.

0:37:15 > 0:37:20No, no. I just... I want to see my grandchildren grow up.

0:37:23 > 0:37:26Life without you here would just be...

0:37:28 > 0:37:30..pretty hard.

0:37:31 > 0:37:35But we love you and we want you to be happy.

0:37:35 > 0:37:40And if Australia is where you are going to go to be happy,

0:37:40 > 0:37:43then we absolutely support you with that.

0:37:43 > 0:37:47And we wouldn't do anything to stand in your way

0:37:47 > 0:37:54because you mean more to all of us than you could even imagine.

0:37:58 > 0:38:02I want you to make your decision just for you guys, not for us.

0:38:04 > 0:38:08Danyel, you're my baby sister, I'm supposed to look after you

0:38:08 > 0:38:09and you'll be miles away.

0:38:15 > 0:38:19I just don't want any of you to go. I just love you too much.

0:38:19 > 0:38:22Erm, you just need to stay at home with us. That's...

0:38:22 > 0:38:24HER VOICE CRACKS

0:38:35 > 0:38:37LAUREN SOBS

0:38:37 > 0:38:41Do you think that were harder or easier than you thought it were going to be?

0:38:41 > 0:38:42- Harder.- Harder?

0:38:45 > 0:38:49- SOBBING:- But I'd just miss my family too much if we came here.

0:38:53 > 0:38:56Yeah, we know the lifestyle out here is better.

0:38:57 > 0:39:00I know that now. I can see that.

0:39:00 > 0:39:03But just to see...

0:39:03 > 0:39:07the girls upset at the moment is tough.

0:39:07 > 0:39:10- Has it shocked you? - Yeah, yeah.- How bad?- Yeah.

0:39:13 > 0:39:16It's changed my decision, I think.

0:39:22 > 0:39:26Hearing from home has been a heartbreaking indication of how much

0:39:26 > 0:39:29the whole family will be missed by loved ones.

0:39:29 > 0:39:32And though it's been her dream all along,

0:39:32 > 0:39:35confronting the reality of being on the other side of the world

0:39:35 > 0:39:38has been tougher than Danyel had imagined.

0:39:38 > 0:39:42With their all-important final decision inching ever closer,

0:39:42 > 0:39:45will the family decide the emotional cost of a move

0:39:45 > 0:39:47is too high a price to pay?

0:39:54 > 0:39:56Do you want to see the dolphins?

0:39:56 > 0:39:59When Danyel arrived in Perth a week ago, it was the first time she'd

0:39:59 > 0:40:01set foot in Australia

0:40:01 > 0:40:04and the country has more than met her expectations.

0:40:04 > 0:40:07Being here this week has shown me that it

0:40:07 > 0:40:10doesn't have to be a dream, it can be a reality.

0:40:12 > 0:40:16The week's also allayed some of Guy's concerns about moving.

0:40:16 > 0:40:20Every day I've come here I've felt better about Australia,

0:40:20 > 0:40:22about the kids spending their life here.

0:40:24 > 0:40:27The family now face an incredibly tough decision -

0:40:27 > 0:40:30do they pursue the life Danyel so desperately wants for them

0:40:30 > 0:40:33or stay close to everything they love in the UK?

0:40:34 > 0:40:39I did start off the week up here, and even with the ups and downs,

0:40:39 > 0:40:43the majority of the week I have been sort of high on life, really.

0:40:45 > 0:40:47But I feel a little bit like...

0:40:47 > 0:40:51After watching those family videos, it's...

0:40:51 > 0:40:53it's definitely put a different spin on how I feel.

0:40:53 > 0:40:57I have made my decision, but it was a really hard decision

0:40:57 > 0:41:01because when we watched the video, it just made us all upset

0:41:01 > 0:41:06and it made us remember our family back in the UK.

0:41:07 > 0:41:10This is one of the hardest decisions I've ever had to make.

0:41:12 > 0:41:14My heart, it's split in two.

0:41:14 > 0:41:15One way, I'm saying, "Yeah, I want this,"

0:41:15 > 0:41:17and on the other hand,

0:41:17 > 0:41:21you're there and you see how it affects the girls.

0:41:22 > 0:41:25I'm just torn. I really, really am torn.

0:41:28 > 0:41:32It's just so much information that I found out in this last week that

0:41:32 > 0:41:37I've got to put in my head, and, like, make a good decision.

0:41:37 > 0:41:40And it's just so hard and, right now,

0:41:40 > 0:41:42I just don't know what I'm going to do.

0:41:50 > 0:41:54It's time to find out where the family will call home.

0:42:04 > 0:42:07Australia!

0:42:08 > 0:42:11- Australia?- Yeah.- Australia!

0:42:11 > 0:42:14I genuinely thought everyone were going to vote UK.

0:42:14 > 0:42:15Even though I voted Australia,

0:42:15 > 0:42:19I'm so upset about family and stuff, but...

0:42:19 > 0:42:25I chose the UK because I don't want to be this far from the family.

0:42:25 > 0:42:28It would be really great, it's just I can't see myself moving all

0:42:28 > 0:42:32this way when we could have the family just next to us. Next door.

0:42:32 > 0:42:36I didn't expect you to vote Australia. I can't believe it!

0:42:36 > 0:42:40Ultimately, I think this is where the family should be,

0:42:40 > 0:42:41but it's going to be tough.

0:42:52 > 0:42:57After a week of real highs and lows, Danyel has finally got Guy

0:42:57 > 0:43:01and, surprisingly, Lauren to sign up to making the move.

0:43:01 > 0:43:05And though Leeya and Ashlee decided home is where the heart is,

0:43:05 > 0:43:08it looks like Danyel could be well on her way to getting the life

0:43:08 > 0:43:10she's been dreaming of.

0:43:10 > 0:43:12We wish them all a great future down under

0:43:12 > 0:43:16and hope they receive lots of visits from family once they get there.
